When I was younger I really wanted an El Camino because of Sum 41s Fat Lip and I remember my mom's bf at that time (he was like a surrogate dad to me) told me parts are really rare so it's not realistic and I just remember being like 13 or 14 and that just really dashing my hopes that I'd ever own an El Camino lmao

so here’s the beautiful thing with old GM cars like the el camino and why my next long term car will likely be one. parts are actually pretty easy to find because they made a ton of them and a lot of parts were shared by other cars on the platform, all of which were also mass produced. so sure some specific parts of like trim might be tough to come by, but a TON of parts were made in such huge quantities for so many cars they’re really not that bad

like all of these were built on the same platform (the GM G-Body) with tons of interchangeable parts. need an alternator for your El Camino? if your local junkyard has a pontiac boneville you can use the one out of that. and that’s just the ‘82-‘87 (technically i think it’s the ‘77-‘87) other years of el camino shared parts with even more cars. part of why i so obsessively want a oldsmobile delta 88 for example is because it shares a platform with literally dozens of other GM cars, including the ‘59-‘60 el camino. so yeah, the el camino rips and shouldn’t honestly be that difficult to find parts for. i’m lowkey trying to get my hands on a G-Body el camino for this exact specific reason

Heroic Sacrifice and The Warlord (BL-G Hack)

I saw a post yesterday from @drakeanddice about Blaze of Glory mechanics in tabletop games and was going to just show him what I'm doing for that in (the still obnoxiously named) The BL-G Hack, but then realized it could maybe be a post of my own.

Let's talk mechanics for heroic sacrifice.

Okay, maybe I lied, we're going to talk briefly about WHY mechanics for heroic sacrifice make sense for a game. This is still going to be mostly me dumping over a box of toys, a quick glance at planned mechanics, but I want to ground it a little bit first.

Why would a player want to have a heroic sacrifice moment?

Thematic Payoff: Fantasy fiction is full of moments of a character (especially one who has broken oaths and bonds) sacrificing themselves for the good of the many. We want to see a someone who we didn't think could live up to being a hero doing it.

Strategic Goal Reaching: Setting up a heroic sacrifice will often allow a momentary contract between the GM and the player; I really want X to happen, so much so that I'm willing to give up my character. In exchange, will you give us the cool thing? Yeah, nice.

Character Shuffling: Players don't always want to stick with one character or may have an RL reason that they need to change. This lets them not just fade away.

Kicking Up Drama: In a lot of games (lookin' at you dnd) combat can be lengthy and cumbersome for players that want dramatic play. This shortcuts combat (usually) in order to hit that drama.

With these goals in mind, an ability that does heroic sacrifice needs to be redemptive (it makes the character feel heroic even if they have not been previously), effective (it succeeds at a task), lethal (it definitely kills them), and big (the moment feels important).

The BL-G Hack's Approach

As discussed elsewhere the BL-G hack is a class based DnD-like that uses PbtA inspired abilities and has a focus on World Map play in a West Marches style.

If that sentence didn't make sense, don't worry, it's a game where you do fantasy stuff.

Characters in the BL-G hack will be able to gain Abilities through leveling up, circumstances, equipment, etc, and some of those will be Heroic Sacrifice moves. One of the classes that gets one of these abilities is The Tactician.

The Tactician is based on using martial prowess and tactical knowledge to improve your party's fighting and provides an inroad to the Map Phase. It's based on the 4th edition Warlord pretty explicitly, though it's exchanged martial healing for troop movement in a way that I think will be fun. Here is the Tactician's Heroic Sacrifice Move.

Sheath the Sword: When all is bleak and you take position at a choke point, you may give up your life to hold the position for as long as your allies need to escape to safety. You have a moment to speak with them, confessing your weaknesses and sharing your love for them. You battle long, until the ground is slick with blood and the bodies have stacked before you, weakening the enemy and ensuring that pursuit is delayed long enough to give your allies a true advantage. The spot you died becomes a Landmark where future heroes can use this ability at will.

Notice how this move is aimed to handle those four pieces:

Redemptive: You confess your weaknesses, a fitting redemption for a class that is about not showing weakness.

Effective: It definitively allows your allies to escape to safety from a bad situation. It specifically weakens and delays the pursuit.

Lethal: There's no roll, you die.

Big: Your sacrifice is so noble and awesome that the Map is permanently changed.

When a player picks this ability, they are letting the GM know that they want to have one of these moments and they are setting themselves up for it. It lets the GM know that they can kick up the danger, somebody has an out and they'll want to use it when the moment is right.

Not all classes will get Heroic Sacrifices (multiclassing is SUPER supported and I don't want the classes to feel same-y), but others will include magically pulling down a building onto yourself to destroy a major villain, healing those around you and creating a healing garden around your grave, and writing your soul into a song that can later be played to strengthen your friends.

Roadmap

Work on The BL-G Hack continues to slowly roll on according to my whims and lunch breaks. The actual PDF of it is probably a little bit off, but I'm hoping to have an accessible, playable version available soon. Being honest, Deadly Kobold Racing is going to come out before this in all likelihood, but BL-G Hack should be close behind.

When it does come out, maybe I'll have a Heroic Sacrifice contest and add a Dramatic Location to honor whoever manages to pull one of these off first.

Thiago makes such a such a good point! I've got two concepts that I think could handle this well to make it a little bit more tempting to take one of these possibly hard-to-pull off abilities.

I might take a look at adding an additional smaller rolling benefit onto these moves. Probably in a way that builds up their reasons for making the move! If I do that, I'll need to make sure that it's not too hugely impactful on it's own; I want it to be a little cherry on top, not a reason on it's own to get the move.

Also, free Abilities are DEFINITELY going to be a thing! My intention is that Abilities are given out like candy, look to Compendium Classes from Dungeon World for some idea of what I'm talking about. You hit a trigger, you get an ability, you have future level up options!

1985 Oldsmobile FE3-X Hurst Olds Cutlass Concept, AKA Darth Vader.

Oldsmobile took a G-body based 442 and made it into the famed FE3X , aka Darth Vader. This car had special ground effects, a 200hp 307ci V8, a 5-speed manual transmission, Recaro seating, and modified suspension.

The Oldsmobile FE3-X concept car program was headed up by GM Engineering and Bill Porterfield.

I might be playing a in pathfinder game that my friend is going to GM in like half a year. But because i have no self control I’ve already fully planned out a character and written a multipage backstory and fic about her.

Something felt not right about all of it… it was a bad idea. We should’ve just left her well alone.

“Alright, nice and easy.” Brog said as he approached the strange woman. “You’re that girl what’s on all them wanted posters ain’tcha?”

He had his scattergun leveled on her. Birdie was just coming out the bushes with her carbine off to the side. And I had my pistol pointed at her on the other side.

It was supposed to be an easy ambush, we’d heard that she’d come through a small town a few days ago and thought we’d get the drop on her. Lone woman, big price on her head, easy money. But looking at her now… I wasn’t so sure.

She let go of the pack hanging from the strap on her shoulder causing it to slide to the ground with a small thud. “Y’all b-b-best find someone else t-t-to rob,” she said with a noticeable stutter. She pulled her duster back past her hips, revealing the ornate looking pistol just to one side of her belt buckle. She didn’t look like much, just some dusty boots, worn road clothes, and a hat pulled low. Something about her eyes though gave me a sick feeling in my stomach. Those sharp green eyes.

“Ah ah ah, easy now girlie,” Brog said, pulling the hammer back on his gun. “Let’s not get any funny ideas about reachin’ for that fancy piece you got there.” He took another few steps forward. “In fact I’m gonna go ahead and take it off ya.”

“Thhhhis is the last warning you’re gonna g-g-get,” she said. Despite the stutter there was a surety in her voice. Those dangerous eyes glanced around quickly, sizing the three of us up.

Brog laughed as he neared her, “look at you, tryna act tough meanwhile yous stammerin and shakin like a leaf.”

“Thhhhat’s your first mistake,” she said. “Thinking my st-stutter has anything to do with fear.”

“S’at right?” Brog sneered. “Hands behind your back.” He took one final step towards her. She wasn’t a small person but with him being an orc he still towered over her. “And what’s my second mistake?”

She put her hands behind her as she glared up at him high enough for the sun to hit those fierce green eyes. “You’re easily dist-stracted,” she said calmly.

Brog looked down at her with annoyance, “I’ll be takin that gun now,” he said as he reached for the pistol in her holster.

He’d no sooner laid a finger on it before her whole demeanor seemed to shift from stern glaring to simple confusion. “Oh thhhhat gun,” she said brightly. I blinked for just a second and suddenly she had a second pistol drawn from behind her back, pressed up under Brog’s jaw. “I thhhought you meant this one.”

“What the-“ was all he got out before she pulled the trigger and Brog’s head snapped backwards, a mass of blood and one of his tusks went flying out.

“What the fuck!?” Shouted Birdie as she started cycling her carbine as fast as it would fire.

Unfortunately for Birdie the woman stepped past Brog’s falling body, using it as a shield to catch all of the incoming carbine bullets. His body hit the ground as Birdie’s gun clanged empty. The woman fired her pistol again and Birdie collapsed backwards into the bushes.

I raised my gun to defend myself from the terrible mistake we’d all made but as my gaze traveled from Birdie’s final resting place back to the woman I saw her already aiming at me. She fired and my hand was relieved of my gun as well as more than one finger. “Fuck!” I screamed in pain as I fell to my knees. Clutching my remaining fingers I wanted to beg for mercy but I was frozen in fear as she picked up her bag and stepped towards me.

She holstered her gun and pulled a cigar from inside her coat pocket, tucking it between her lips. The whole time she stalked towards me I silently prayed to every god I could think of to spare me. Those terrifying green eyes bore into my soul, as if I was facing judgment for all my sins here and now.

As she came to a stop before me I looked up into the face that would surely be my demise. She held up her hand and snapped her fingers together and to my sheer terror a small flicker of flame appeared on her fingertips. I truly believe that if I had been capable of doing anything other than staring in horror I might have soiled myself in that moment.

She held the small bit of fire up to the cigar and puffed on it once, twice. Closing her eyes and seeming to savor the smoke, before she shook her hand and the flame went out. She opened her eyes and stared into my soul once more before plucking the cigar from her mouth and speaking, “you shhhould get b-better friends,” she said before turning and walking past me down the road.

I watched her walk, unmoving, for I don’t know how long. Long after she’d left my sight for sure. I looked back towards my former associates, Brog’s body soaking the dirt of the road a deep red. Birdie’s feet sticking out of the bushes. I looked back down the road. Never would I forget those eyes.

Exalted Secret Santa Journal 2023

Hyped to be doing this again! It's my second go at it.

Entry 1: Spears-to-Billhooks Nazmiya Architect Exigent of Lookshy Pronouns: She/her Age: 24 (been an exalt for three years) Ht: 9'6"

Description: When the last architect of Lookshy spoke out against the rampant corruption of the General Staff, they were assassinated for their insurrectionist behavior. The tyrants in charge hoped to get a more obedient and pliable replacement, instead they got Nazmiya. The hulking giant of a woman quickly got to work organizing an underground resistance movement and revolting at every opportunity against her would-be handlers. Lookshy is a city of soldiers, and under Nazmiya's banner they would fight for their freedom, and they would win.

Anima: In our game, the city-flag for Lookshy had a stylized white lotus silhouette. As the city's architect, Naz's anima mark depicts this logo, but with a messy purple scorpion overlaying it (Naz's moniker in the rebellion is "Queen Scorpion").

Anatomy Notes: Damn girl she huge. Take every opportunity in your composition to emphasize this fact.

Motifs: Purple & Silver; white jade; construction materials like bricks, rebar, and sandstone; scorpions, like the big kind that crush prey with their pincers; graffiti and spray-paint, the rebellion she leads is very Jet Set Radio inspired; bigness, hugeness, monolithicness, Naz is literally the pillar of the community.

Entry 2: Tendaji Greenwich Twilight Caste Solar Exalt (Bureaucracy Supernal) Pronouns: She/Her, Xe/Xyr, or They/Them Age: 23 (been an exalt for a year and a half) Ht: 5'8"

Description: My first ever exalted player character! Her game has just wrapped up a month ago, so I'm feeling very fond and nostalgic for her. She went from being a nervous and timid little nerd to a confident and self-actualized little nerd. I couldn't be prouder of her. The outfit and hairdo in the first two photos are her current appearance, and you can use the general color scheme in the third drawing.

Anima: Instead of appearing on xer forehead, Tendaji's castemark is actually situated on xer left eye, which turned teal upon xer exaltation. They manifest the Sun's command over the cycles of night and day, which essentially means they have time-powers. Tennie doesn't just build things, they push forward the hands of time to a project's completion. They don't just move quickly, they skip through time in a series of glitchy leaps and teal after-images. The nature of their exaltation is a bit overwhelming, and the more they use their powers, the less control they seem to have over what they're doing, slipping into a trance-like state and babbling in First Age tongues.

Anatomy Notes: Tendaji lost xyr right arm in a battle against an Abyssal, and eventually got it replaced thanks to the help of a necrosurgeon and xyr Liminal boyfriend (who donated its arm for grafting). The references in the artwork above depict how it should look, however now the vitiligo patterns have now begun to spread to further parts of Tendaji's body. Another note that hasn't been included in the color refs is that a few of her locks have become stark white due to some mental trauma involving ghostly possession.

Motifs: Teal & Yellow; clocks, watches; hourglasses, sundials and other assorted time imagery; architecture and city layouts; sunflowers & honeybees; paperwork, pens, sketches, and blueprints; when they're having a bad time: glitchiness and intense shadows

Entry 3: Mokshi Bodhisattva Compassion No-Moon Caste Lunar Exalt (Carpenter Bee Spirit Shape) Pronouns: She/Her Age: 23 (exalted two years or so ago) Ht: 5'2"

Description: An NPC from Tendaji's game, Mokshi is xyr Lunar counterpart. With the campaign she's in being over, Mokshi has now gotten to train in a lunar enclave to learn sick martial arts and begin her own journey of self-discovery. She's also scored a 9-foot-tall girlfriend (Nazmiya) so basically life is going perfect for her.

Anima: Like Tennie, Mokshi's caste mark doesn't appear on her forehead, but rather on her eye. Specifically her left eye, which turned bright yellow upon her exaltation (mirroring Tendaji's heterochromia). When using her essence in displays of lunar power, the classic silver is overpowered by ambery-gold hues of honey. At higher anima levels, an amber moon hangs behind her like a halo, and spectral yellow bees swarm like a hive.

Anatomy Notes: Mokshi has a pair of little bee wings on her back. The wings and the exoskeleton of her hybrid from are primarily glossy black like a carpenter bee. Her left arm as suffered significant burn scars after fighting a dragonblood, and the hexagon tattoos on it have been damaged slightly. Mokshi is fat and curvy, so if you're drawing her please try to depict her body type accurately (no skinny Mokshi's please!). She wears pretty pronounced eyeliner and eyeshadow, and has glossy black lipstick. Feel free to give her a lil' fang or pointy teeth or two, as a treat. She has moonsilver knuckle-tats that say "BUZZ" and "KILL".

Motifs: Yellow & Black; bees, honey, and hives; honeycomb & hexagonal grids; goth aesthetics; fashion & clothing; comics and very sketchy pencil doodles; knives; money and burglary imagery; finger guns

So to accompany dinner, I rewatched the last three episodes of G Gundam, because none of my current series were "sticking", for lack of a better term. And this show, as absolutely over-the-top and shounen as it is (and as questionable as some of its name choices were), has probably one of the best giant space battles I have ever seen.

And a lot of that accolade owes to the fact that the number of other non-Gundam Fighter Gundam cameos is absolutely crazy.

One of the first ones, right off the bat, when it is shown how the Gundams are getting to space, we have a shot of the one and only granddaddy RX-78-2 hugging a rocket. There are a load of GMs sprinkled throughout, as one would expect. But we also have several shots of the RX-78 GP01 Zephyranthes, X Gundam and even Wing Gundam nearly a full year before it's show even aired! There's at least one shot with Victory Gundam (V Gundam) in the background, and rewatching today, I saw in one of the big dramatic pause shots a freaking GUNCANNON (It was drawn small, because it was far off, but red body, white head, giant grey backpack and all the shapes were correct, so Guncannon!). There is another mech in that shot that is very Not A Gundam™, likely from one of Sunrise or Tomino's other shows, but I don't have the knowledge to place it. There is also a Gundam in one of the end victory shots that has another Gundam I can't place, but the design pings something. Might be F91, but I am not sure.

Anyway, thought I'd share with any other Gundam fans who might enjoy this! (Was gonna say Gundam heads, but in G Gundam, there is a specific context that would make that not something to call someone! xD) That's it for now!

Alright, guys, I know that a lot of us here don’t consider Thor:Ragnarok as canon, but I’ve stumbled upon a post regarding it and would like to talk about the issue highlighted by it — mlm fetishization.

Namely, this interaction between Loki and Grandmaster giffed, as well as their relationship as whole,

“Time works real different around these parts. On any other world I would be millions of years old but here on Sakaar…(winks)”

And the overwhelming reaction to it in the comments

Imo this is what actual fetishization of gay men in the fandom looks like, not its popular “wahh, anybody other than a cis gay man has dared to ship two male characters together!” definition.

Here’s why:

When we look past the “GAY!!!0w0” part the majority of the commenters prefers to focus on, what is left is a heavily implied abusive relationship with incredible power imbalance, where one party holds basically unlimited power over the other whose very consent to stay in this arrangement is questionable at best.

Grandmaster is a tyrannical ruler of the planet Loki ended up stuck on due to circumstances outside of his control. The planet where according to what we were shown the options for most new arrivals are limited to joining GM’s court, becoming slave traders/guards or being enslaved and sent to the Arena to brutally die. Even if we assume that Loki came to GM’s palace out of his own will and wasn’t brought there as some scrapper’s capture like Thor, it still wasn’t an actual free choice given the alternative.

What is more, the movie itself clearly acknowledges this imbalance. GM is shown to be murder-happy and controlling towards everyone on Sakaar, including his closest circle.

Even the people he seems to be fond of are wary of him. He routinely disregards any boundaries anyone, including Loki, might have, while Loki looks clearly uncomfortable whenever they are in the same room and not at all like someone interested in their current or potential partner.

Take this scene, for example, where Loki unsuccessfully tries to leave Arena after seeing Hulk

“Whoa, whoa, where are you going, sit down.”

Notice the casual hand on his chest and Loki’s body language. GM doesn’t even stop to ask why Loki is so scared and running, he just pushes him back into the lounge area and Loki freezes and complies despite being absolutely terrified of the creature back there.

This is the behavior of a man who is well-aware that pissing GM off might very well equal a death sentence in his circumstances, as are most court members according to the following exchange:

Grandmaster : I'm upset! I'm very upset. You know what I like about being upset? Blame. Right now, that's the mindset that I'm in. And you know who I'm blaming?

Loki : Grandmaster, I...

Grandmaster : Hey! Don't interrupt me!

Topaz : [holds up a Melting Stick]  Here you go!

Grandmaster : Why are you handing me the Melt Stick? He was interrupting. That's not a capital violation. My precious champion has come up missing and its all because of that Lord of Thunder. It's all because of him, YOUR brother - whatever the story is, adopted, or complicated, I'm sure there's a big history - and YOUR contender!

Loki : My dear friend, if you were to give me twelve hours I could bring them both back to you.

Valkyrie : I can do it in two.

Loki : I could do it in one.

Grandmaster : You know what? I woke up this morning thinking about a public execution. But for now, I'll settle for this sweet little "who's gonna get him first?" So you're on the clock!

If Loki was a woman, all of them would immediately recognize this “relationship” for what it is — a pretty obvious centuries old “you are either mine or dead” situation — and call it out for being abusive. But when it’s two men, it’s only funny and sexy I guess.

And for the record — I’m not against abusive or problematic ships, I ship a lot of dark and messed up stuff myself. But you need to, you know, recognize that they are abusive and not brush it under the rug because “omg gay! So hot!” or acknowledge that you are shipping a very AU dynamic of the characters.

Because frankly, seeing posts like this leaves me as a bi guy wondering “how much toxic shit are these people willing to close their eyes to in irl mlm relationships according to the same logic of ooh, GaY?”

Hi! Thanks for opening asks, I've been hoping to get your advice. I think cars are cool but I don't know much about them. I have a decent job now and may be able to afford a nice car soon. I've always loved Corvettes because of their design, but I don't actually know if they're a "good" car. Are they worth the money? Are there other cars in that price range that are worth looking into? Would you recommend buying an expensive car like that pre-owned? Thank you 💚

no worries, sorry it’s been so long since i opened them! there’s nothing more expensive than a cheap luxury car unfortunately. corvettes are cool but parts and labor can get expensive from my understanding. there’s definitely worse options and if you really want one you can learn, but depending on your budget (corvettes can range from $5k to $200k+ depending on the generation and trim level so i can’t really get an idea of how much you’re looking at without knowing which vettes you’re shopping for) but you might have a better time with a ford mustang or chevy camaro if you want some american muscle, parts for pretty much any generation of those are generally cheaper and more plentiful, and they may be a bit more reliable. the closest i can think of in terms of parallels to the like 90s-2000s corvettes would be the honda/acura nsx, but those have absolutely skyrocketed in price over the last couple years. used to be able to snag a naturally aspirated first gen for like 20k but not so much nowadays. newer gen nsxs are in the same general ballpark as new corvettes in terms of price as far as i know, maybe a bit more expensive, so if you’re looking for something new that may not be a bad choice. for new ones you could also go lexus LC or porsche cayman or even some 911s. if you’re going for like a cheaper 80s or 90s corvette though, i’d go with a gm g-body like a buick regal or oldsmobile cutlass supreme, a foxbody ford mustang, a toyota mr2, maybe a mercedes sl but repairs get real expensive with old mercedes

How's Behemoth? (I'm a fellow Rippers player and we are getting the fan-hitting phase of our campaign).

In the infinite limbo of a campaign on hiatus, I'm afraid! Or maybe more accurately "finished campaign with an open ending *just in case*".

They did get cured of their lycanthropy before the next full moon though! In a properly dramatic last chance after the cure we were planning on and working towards got swept out from under us. Everything got a tad rushed at the end because the GM was very tired of GMing and trying to wrap up. It was always meant to be a short thing and I only realized after the fact that it went on for like 6 months. He's much better/more comfortable as a short burst G/DM when our regular long form DM needs a break.

I think the shortest explanation for the cure is: "friendly" (Ripper-aligned) vampire all-but-drained Behemoth of all their tainted blood, and then donated a chunk of their bloodpack supply to revitalize them. Basically a full body transfusion. It was a good scene!

This was essentially a payment up front for dealing with the Big Bad for the vampire family and then leaving Venice for them to continue to "peacefully" rule/watch over. We then went to kill said Big Bad and succeeded, but one of our party got time-displaced. But that was the end of the campaign, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Many people consume more sugar than they realize. In fact, most U.S. adults consume as much as 17 teaspoons (68 grams) of added sugar daily.1 That’s more than three times the American Heart Association's recommended limit of 6 teaspoons (25 g) of added sugar for women per day and double the teaspoon limit (36 g) set for men. What’s more, excess added sugar is linked to weight gain, type 2 diabetes and heart disease.

Brownies and apples both have sugar, so is all sugar the same? Not really. It’s important to understand the difference between natural and added sugar. Naturally occurring sugars are found naturally in foods such as fruits (fructose and glucose) and milk (lactose). On the other hand, added sugars are added to food during processing.

Although your body processes both types of sugar in the same way, it’s important to consider the whole package. Colette Micko, M.S., RDN, CDES, a registered dietitian from Top Nutrition Coaching, says, “There are many benefits to eating whole, unprocessed fruits and vegetables, which often have a moderate amount of natural sugars. Those benefits include fiber, vitamins/minerals and phytochemicals”.

Research also supports the health benefits of fruit despite their sugar content. “A recent study found there to be an inverse relationship between consumption of whole fruit and diabetes risk. The more whole fruit consumed (each 300 gm/day of whole fruit) reduced risk of developing diabetes. This may seem contrary to what most people think,” says Micko.

However, people with diabetes, for example, may need to consider how much natural sugar a food contains. “Any sugar consumption, whether it is natural or added sugars, contributes to total carbohydrates per day. With this, individuals with diabetes may need to reduce their intake of natural sugars to meet their daily total carbohydrates recommended by their registered dietitian or physician”, says Erika Barrera, M.P.H., RDN, registered dietitian and wellness educator at Leafe Nutrition.

To help you navigate your choices when it comes to fruit and sugar, we’ve ranked low-sugar fruits from lowest to highest sugar content.

1. Lemons 🍋🍋🍋 and Limes 🍋‍🟩🍋‍🟩🍋‍🟩

Natural Sugar: 1 Gram Per Piece and 2 Grams Per Piece

Lemons and limes are culinary staples for adding zippy brightness to dishes. They also top this list as the lowest-sugar fruits, with 1 and 2 grams of sugar per fruit, respectively. In addition to their lower sugar content, these citrus fruits are also high in vitamin C. Since snacking on one of these sour fruits alone is unlikely, try them in this flavorful One-Pan Cilantro-Lime Chicken or this refreshing Lemon Frozen Yogurt Ripieno.

2. Avocado 🥑

Natural Sugar: 1 Gram Per Piece

Although many people may assume that avocados are vegetables since they aren’t very sweet, they are actually fruit. These creamy fruits have only 1 gram of sugar for an entire piece. In addition to being lower in sugar, avocados are also surprisingly high in fiber, with around 7 grams of fiber per half of an avocado. Julie Pace, RDN from Core Nutrition Health & Wellness, says, “Adding avocados to meals can boost satiety, support weight management goals, nourish gut health, reduce risk for cardiovascular disease, and enhance diet quality.”7 Avocado makes a great salad topper, and we’re all familiar with avocado toast—but have you tried these Avocado Fries with Sriracha Aioli yet?

3. Raspberries

Natural Sugar: 5 Grams Per 1 Cup

Not only are juicy raspberries low in sugar, with just 5 grams of natural sugar per cup, but they are also low in calories and incredibly high in fiber. Just one cup provides 8 grams of fiber, which is over one-fourth of the 25-34 daily grams of fiber recommended for American adults.9 Keeping your freezer stocked with some frozen raspberries means you can blend up this Mango Raspberry Smoothie anytime.

4. Kiwis 🥝🥝🥝

Natural Sugar: 7 Grams Per Piece

“One small kiwi has just 6 grams of natural sugar, 2 grams of fiber and nearly 90% of your daily recommended value of vitamin C! They are also a rich source of carotenoids, a specific type of phytochemical, that has been shown to promote eye and skin health,” says Micko. These fuzzy little fruits also offer many other health benefits, from constipation relief to better sleep. In addition to offering almost 100% of the daily value for vitamin C per serving, strawberries are also low in sugar, with just 7 grams per 1 cup of halved strawberries. 7. Watermelon 🍉

Natural Sugar: 10 Grams Per 1 Cup

The lower sugar level of watermelon can be attributed in part to the high water content of this summer fruit. A 1-cup serving of watermelon has less than 10 grams of sugar and up to 5 ounces of water. 8. Grapefruit
