❣️ The Eclipse - putting this one on here again for the third time in a row lmao but idc. what a masterpiece. episodes 6-8 were off the charts and I’m so in awe of everything this production is achieving, both in terms of acting and script. Incredible. nuff said. 

👎🏻  We’ve all rambled about this more than enough but Mike getting replaced by Fluke has to be the most ridiculous thing ever like? I still can’t believe it. hii, i wrote a pondphuwin fic for the gmmtv fan exchange. this is a cut scene from it, set around september 2022, during the time that they were filming never let me go.

Pairing: Pond Naravit/Phuwin Tangsakyuen (RPF)

Summary: Pond visits Phuwin while he's studying for midterm exams on a rainy day.

Midterms season is hard. Midterms season in the middle of shooting a series is damn near impossible, or at least that's how Phuwin feels right now.

His days on set are long and exhausting, even more so because of the intensity that every scene requires and the fight choreography that inevitably has to be reshot at least 2 or 3 times.

(Thankfully, it's Pond who gladly takes the brunt of the work during the action sequences, but Phuwin didn't know how tiring continuously throwing himself on the ground could be until now.)

When he's not in front of the camera, he's 1) studying in the quietest corner he can find or 2) asleep. The days he's not on set, he's at university, trying not to doze off in the middle of class. Or cooped up in some cafe or library or at home, poring over dozens of missed lecture recordings and powerpoint PDFs.

Today is the latter, he doesn't know how long he's been sitting at his desk trying to make sense of this particular lesson, headphones blasting and foot propped up in a weird position unconsciously. He's so immersed that he doesn't even notice the door opening until there's a hand waving in front of his face, spooking him so hard he nearly falls off his chair.

It's Pond, of course, grinning at his reaction. He's in basketball shorts and a bright green hoodie. It would look ridiculous on Phuwin but Pond has a way of making everything handsome even when he looks fresh from the gym, or possibly like he just rolled out of bed. The ends of his hair are damp and for the first time, Phuwin notices the pitter patter of rain against his window.

"What are you doing here?"

Pond holds up the lunch bag he's been holding behind his back. "My mom made your favorite, I came to bring you some."

"Don't I see you enough these days?"

Pond holds the bag slightly out of reach, smirking, "Oho, I guess this is all for me then."

Phuwin shakes his head sweetly, making grabby hands for the food. He wants to at least pretend to be mad at Pond a bit longer but his growling stomach is taking precedence. It's also days like this when Phuwin forgets to do normal functioning human things like eat breakfast or sleep at normal times or get up to go anywhere besides the bathroom.

The first bite of rice and curry is perfect, warm and familiar, flavorful but not too spicy.

A while later, with a stomach suitably filled, Phuwin finds it in himself to be stubborn again. "I told Mom I was studying today," Phuwin grumbles, slightly betrayed. Studying meant no distractions which he didn't think he needed to clarify meant no Pond Naravit.

"Your mom loves me," Pond says matter-of-factly, "And she knows you won't remember to eat unless there's someone here to feed you."

"You can't always be here to feed me."

"Why not?" Pond is looking over Phuwin's tablet wistfully and Phuwin lets him linger, closer to the desk than he needs to be. He and Pond often talk about Pond's desire to go back to school, but Phuwin knows not to push no matter how much he wants to insist that Pond is more than capable of doing it.

Pond seems to catch himself, stepping back with a sheepish smile. "How many more sets do you have?"

Phuwin scrunches his nose at being reminded of the work still waiting for him, scrolling quickly through his remaining lessons. "A couple more, and then I have to go over the review for the actual exam."

Pond nods, humming absently as his eyes wander around the room and Phuwin starts to think he should ask if he wants to stay, though there won't be much to do while Phuwin studies. Instead Pond says, "Do you remember when we filmed Safe House? I brought food for you back then too."

Of course Phuwin remembers that they were on Safe House, but in all honesty, he doesn't remember much of what he actually did when they were filming the show. He knows for most of their free time he was alone in their room studying, much like today, while everyone else was off being actually interesting for the cameras.

"Yeah, but your mom is a much better cook than you." 

Pond laughs, always ready to accept Phuwin's teasing. He reaches out and lets his hand rest on Phuwin's head fondly as if petting a cat. And Phuwin, who would normally recoil at such outward affection in front of cameras or fans, allows himself to lean into the touch. Like the curry, it is comforting and familiar to let Pond stroke his hair for a moment, scratch at the spot right above his ear that releases all the tension in his body. The sound of the rain, the resounding lack of an audience to perform themselves to, the warmth of Pond so near—all of it too intimate to bear. Phuwin's eyes naturally drift shut, realizing he's much more tired than he thought.

This is why he thinks he might be half hallucinating when he feels lips press against his forehead, the puff of an uncertain breath, the telling brush of Pond's long hair against his skin. 

When he opens his eyes, surprised, Pond is pulling away as if he's been burned.

"Sleep in your bed if you're tired. Don't work too hard, okay nong?" It makes Phuwin groan. Pond only calls him nong when he's trying to annoy him.

"Get out of here," Phuwin relieves them both of the responsibility of confronting what exactly just happened. Pond pats Phuwin's shoulder in goodbye, undeniably friendly.

But, after the door closes behind him, Phuwin immediately lifts his hand against the place where Pond kissed him, not sure if he wants to press the feeling permanently into his skin or erase that it ever happened.

The next few hours pass in a distracted haze until the rain finally slows to a stop.

8. Our Skyy 2

To be fair it’s the only new ohmnanon thing so I’ll take it but did we really need a season 2. What’s more insightful about this is how many couples have been produced over the last year or so.

7. A Boss and a Babe

The first thing that strikes me is the name (uhhhh). Like I love forcebook but I don’t have much faith in gmmtv office bls. Also, In the trailer it felt like, suddenly their together so hopefully it will make more sense once it’s out.

6. Hidden Agenda

Cute little storyline, joongdunk doing a university set bl makes a lot of sense. I do feel like joong continuously plays the same character, like this cold dude that speaks only one line at a time and can be furiously flirty kinda. Also, whenever dunk cries I can’t take him seriously cause of his deep ass voice.

5. Cooking crush

Definitely will be watching, it’s offgun so it gonna be good. Looks great and this comedic, romance has similarities to puppy love. We love Neo as well.

4. 23.5

MILKLOVE finally, I think gmmtv are going to regret not doing a gl sooner. And it also has a bl side storyline. I really hope it does well!!! The plot looks really cute, how sun doesn’t know who earth is and yeh looks GREAT

3. Dangerous Romance

This one particularly gives me the vibe that gmmtv has prepared this to be the bigger series of 2023/24. Love the whole enemy to lovers, rich, poor thing but I feel like the trailer was a bit messy but maybe that’s a good thing as I want to watch it. I am excited to see chimon in a series even though since safe house not as much :)

2. Last Twilight

Now, looking at the poster I really wouldn’t of thought this was going to be that good, as it was giving titanic vampire kinda. However, y’all the doctor telling Seas character he has 180 days left, nearly made be cry. Wasn’t the biggest vice versa enjoyer but this has truly blown me away. Especially with Seas acting!!!! It looks really good and the plot and what can I say it’s p’aof again.

1. Only Friends

Wouldn’t of thought gmmtv would be pulling a series showcasing a group of friends who are tangled in gay messes and sex but here we are. Also, has some great pairings and FIRSTKHAO. Gotta give a shout out to Neo as well like that was not on my bingo card but slay I guess. I just hope we don’t have to wait for long…

CHERRY MAGIC RANT:

NOW, let’s talk about the Cherry Magic adaption. It doesn’t have a trailer yet so I didn’t put it up their but I would say it’s giving top 5 material. Personally, don’t really care that they are doing an adaption too. Obviously cherry magic (Japanese Vers) is AMAZING, was waiting for every ep every week when it was airing and now there’s a movie so for taynew there will defo be comparisons. However, they’re adapting from the novel. I’m just glad we will get taynew after like 4 years. I will say this will probably be out in 2024 though.

I was watching the second episode of Oh! My sunshine night and I realized 2 things:

1. Sun's appartament is the same one of Bad Buddy episode 12 and Kluen's appartament from Star in my mind

2. and this is the one that sent me the most cuz it was so wierd, Kim's house is the same houso of Tian in ATOTS, Tonhon's parents from Tohnon Chonlati(or wathever its written i only watched 3 episode before dropping it but I remember the house) and Safe House season 3 from GMMTV(I had in fact a big sense of deja-vu when I opened the first video of the last Safe House season and saw the house and the stairs specifically then I saw them just now and it clicked)

The whole Safe House situation makes me wish we had more Twitter user on tumbler who drag all the updates and little clips from Twitter in the tags on her so I don’t have to go over there myself.

It’s so much work watching this show as someone who doesn’t understand Thai and doesn’t live in a time zone to watch 10 dorks doing stupid things for over 5h a day. lol. (I had to get up at 2am if I would watch it all live. I usually just skip through it in the evening)

But it’s still a lot of fun to watch.

Hey there! Hope all is well in your world. I’ve been watching Bad Buddy and of course love the series but what has me in awe each week is the music. Like everything is working on this show: script, acting and the music. A great musical score for a series or movie can really add depth to what you are watching. It feels like Bad Buddy will be a memorable one because of these factors. I feel like 2gether can be on this list; also Be Loved in House: I Do and Love Sick. My question to you is, if you were to make a list of BL series that had a great script, acting, and music which ones would be added?

If you were to make a list of BL series that had a great script, acting, and music which ones would be added?

Honestly, I'm not sure I'm you're huckleberry on this one. I frankly only pay attention to the music if it seriously annoys me. So my criteria is more: 

is the music adding to or subtracting from my experience? 

But I can give you a list based on the following criteria.

The music did not annoy me. 

The acting (mains & sides) didn't make me cringe. 

The script doesn't piss me off. 

Shall we call these?

Top 10 BL Allrounders: Script, Acting & Sound Track 

1000 Stars (Thai) - aside from the one snafu with the flute (just let China have that one, Thailand) everything about this BL is solid from story to full cast acting to music to cinematography (which you didn’t ask about but counts for a lot with me.) This is one of the few BLs I feel safe recommending to pretty much anyone who enjoys romance, because it has an incredibly low barrier to entry. (YouTube)

Restart After Come Back Home AKA Risutato wa tadaima no ato de (Japan) - minimal dialogue that suits this style of Japanese cinematic BL, sweeping cinematography and unobtrusive score, top tier acting. The benchmark for this kind of Bl from Japan. The only other one on this list I’m happy to suggest to anyone in my life who will sit still long enough. (indie subs)

Until We Meet Again (Thai) - the best BL story with a solid script, good acting and great chemistry all round, mostly classic music and no singing of feelings (thank fuck). Trigger warnings and blushing maiden trope are the only two aspects that keep this in the arena of BL fandom. (YouTube)

Light On Me (Korea) - great script that was given enough time to develop for a change, solid acting (little stiff on chemistry but that’s just Korea for you), and I enjoyed the OST. Refrain was a little overused but I only really noticed on a binge rewatch, so forgivable in a serial installment piece. (Viki)

HIStory 3: Trapped (Taiwan) - really good script, overacting is called for by the style but still minimal, fabulous chemistry, unobtrusive score, fast pacing, a general delight to watch. (Viki)

He’s Coming to Me (Thai) - super solid all rounder on script, acting, support cast, and score. Best, most honest coming out sequence in a Thai BL. GMMTV at its most workmanlike but also best. (YouTube)

Gameboys the series (Pinoy) - unexpectedly good script, fantastic acting, decent score (when present at all). (Netflix) 

Dark Blue Kiss (Thai) - super dramatic score, established couple chemistry and snarky dialogue, solid script with one of the better faen fatals, great surrounding cast, the original GMMTV workhorse BL. (YouTube) 

See You After Quarantine? (Taiwan) - short but unexpectedly suited to the length, didn’t really need more as this is tight and tidy. Adorable script in multiple languages, great acting, nice if minimal music. (Viki)

His the movie (Japan) - fantastic acting, amazingly natural support cast (even from the child actor), beautiful sparse script, lovely music, very compelling in general. (Viki)

I would also put Love Sick on this list, on account of the dialogue alone and the acting is good (if not the chemistry), although the pacing is bloated, especially in season two. 

However, I would not include 2gether (Green is a fatally flawed character, not Guns fault!, but I can’t forgive the script for that). Also, while I ADORE BLIH:ID the story conceits are dumb, the dialogue is okay, but the result is still illogical or childish and confusing character motivation.) 

Honorable Mention: 3 Will be Free (Thai) for story, pace, and acting. 

As you can see, some of my all time favorite BLs are not on this list (We Best Love fails on script, Color Rush on chemistry, and Cherry Magic on acting - those side characters & that slapstick). 

Just because I made a distinction here between story structure and script/dialogue, here’s a blog post where I break that down more.
