I'm so sorry I couldn't come up with a better name for Blake and Oscar but the existing name is cattree and I don't want it. Blackpines? I've also heard Blakeberry but idk I don't associate Oscar with berries. Feel free to share your suggestions bc I'm drawing a blake. Emerald City is used for both romantic and platonic shipping, so I left it. Also there's no improving on "Data Farms" believe me I've tried it's too good a name :P

Okay, so @hyperfixation-hideout​ brought up how Oscar and Ruby are staged during Ironwood’s office scene in V7C2, and it got me thinking about how good the visual storytelling is here. 

Up to a certain point, from the moment the gang enters the office, there is not a single front shot of Ruby that doesn’t also have Oscar in it. Everybody else is mostly shot alone when talking to Ironwood, but not Ruby.

When the projector in the middle of the room goes up, they separate into different sides of the room. Thus, when Ironwood greets Oscar, there’s space between these two that wasn’t really felt before... until Ruby draws attention to it.

This shot right here is the first in this scene where she’s speaking, we’re seeing all of her face; and it kinda feels empty because Oscar’s not in the frame with her anymore. Both visually, and through the dialogue, these two characters are no longer in agreement with each other. She is specifically acting in conflict with Oscar’s own wishes.

(And from the quick looks Oscar gives, it’s clear he won’t go against Ruby but that he doesn’t entirely support her decision).

So, when I see this specific shot, I’m thinking the scene is trying to visually convey “Oscar and Ruby are in conflict about how to handle Ironwood”, or maybe “Ironwood is sparking a disagreement between these two characters”. 

And yeah, I just really like the effort put into framing and staging these two during this scene. Thank you Quinn for pointing out this last shot! :)

Guys, I just thought of something. What if Salem tries to turn Ruby into a hound and Oscar manages to help Ruby break out of it by giving her the advice that she’s been giving him. “You’re your own person.” ie, you are in control of the merge. (Wether it be Ozmosis or turning into a hound.)

So follow up to RoseGarden Merge angst, I follow several Ace RWBY fans so I also keep in mind Gngrbrd, the platonic version of RoseGarden. Like I said I am a sucker for a specific form of romantic angst that the Ozmosis can give RoseGarden, this “he/she doesn’t love me anymore” doesn’t really exist in Gngrbrd because Ruby had a good relationship with Ozpin so she can continue to have a good platonic relationship with Oscar post-Merge given that the parts that make up new Oscar had an affection for her and she had an affection for them; but there’s still an angst there in the form of the potential loss of identity and the different dynamic Ruby had with Oscar and with Ozpin, and I wanna see it too.

I think that Oscar and Ruby both stress bake/cook respectively.

So sometimes the gang will come home and there’s just plenty of food and treats to last them for weeks because Oscar and Ruby are constantly stressed.

The two also tend to feed off of each other’s stress, if one is stressed, that stresses the other out. So they’ll make food for each other.

I imagine that Ruby and Oscar aren’t very words of affirmation kind of people, like yeah obviously compliments are nice but they both don’t really know what to say. It’s easier to show appreciation through gifts or by doing something for each other or by just existing near each other.

Since I headcanon them both as autistic I imagine they do parallel play a lot, just quietly vibing in the same room with each other while doing their own thing is nice for them. Especially given the hectic situation they’re in during the war.
