"yeah, of course! you know how much i like horror movies."

now, that phrase echoes throughout your mind while you hide your face in beomgyu's shoulder, both hands wrapped around his arm.

and now, you are sure that your idea of watching the movie you're scared of the most wasn't so good. you thought it was going to be fun, to see it with beomgyu – your best friend – since y'all could never finish something properly, not when the boy wasn't able to shut up for at least one second, making jokes that did both of you crack in laughs and don't pay attention on whatever was on the tv.

besides, the fact that beomgyu was the most charming boy you had ever seen made the task of watching a movie pretty difficult, you couldn't take your eyes off him or focus on anything but his handsome face, anyone could say for sure that you were in love with him.

none of these was the current case though. strangely, beomgyu wasn't saying anything and not even his face was being able to distract you, the scary sounds and dark scenes catching all your attention and at one point, you couldn't watch it anymore, opting for hugging your friend as tight as you could and burying your face in his arm, trying to ignore the movie.

"i told you it wasn't a good idea, dumb thing." beomgyu speaks, snapping you out of your trance and pulling his arm from your grip against your will as you whimper, hugging his waist instead. chuckling, he hugs your shoulders, dragging you closer to his embrace and caressing your back, soothing you.

"gyu, can we watch another movie? i don't wanna see that one anymore..." you lift your head from his chest, crooking your neck to look at him, puppy eyes practically begging, making beomgyu inevitably smirk.

"now i really wanna see its end though, baby." he looks down at you, a cocky expression staring at your helpless one. you whine, smashing your face again on his body while mumbling a small plea for him to distract you, and it was exactly what beomgyu was waiting for. "it's okay, c'mere."

he gets up from the couch, pointing for you to lean your back on the upholstered arm and so you do, making sure there's still some space for him to lay. sitting next to you, he loops one arm around your shoulders just like he was doing before, and now his body is preventing you from seeing the screen, you hug him and nuzzle on his warmth, closing your eyes and focusing on the boy's breath, trying to ignore the sounds coming from the tv.

after a few minutes, when you're almost falling asleep, you can hear the movie volume getting lower and feel beomgyu's body moving in your embrace, but you can't mind enough to open your eyes, thinking he's just getting comfier on the couch. it is until you feel two fingers grazing against your clothed core, your eyes fluttering wide open to look at the boy confusedly, being able to see that he's totally turned to you, gazing smugly at your shrunken frame while stroking your pussy.

I started writing this last week, then my tonsillitis floored me so @bunnymajo beat me with her own post on the topic (it's v. good, check it out!!), but I still wanted to share a few of my thoughts about why y'all should consider picking up the Discotek release of the Kaitou Saint Tail anime series on blu-ray.

I'll be honest, Kaitou Saint Tail wasn't my favourite magical girl series growing up in the mid-90s, I found myself far more drawn to Sailor Moon, Wedding Peach, and Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne (in that order). However, as I've grown older and re-watched the anime series a couple of times, I've grown to appreciate a lot about it that perhaps I didn't so much when I was young and had a million anime series vying for my attention.

The anime

If you've never seen the Kaitou Saint Tail anime, Haneoka Meimi is regular teenage student by day who rights wrongs by night as the thief Saint Tail. How does she know about what bad things have gone down in the local community? Why her BFF (Mimori Seira) is a nun-in-training, of course! So when Seira hears about things being stolen etc. she relays this information to Meimi so she can set things right.

Complicating the situation is Asuka Daiki, the son of a local detective who notably failed to catch a previous phantom thief (hmm!). Asuka Jr. wants to stop Saint Tail no matter what and luckily the local mayor is cool with giving him the status required to do so. Meimi slowly finds herself torn between how she feels about Asuka Jr. (whom she bickers with but ultimately cares about) and how Asuka Jr. feels about the thief Saint Tail.

So obviously if you like magical girl-type series and you're keen on a cute lil tween romance with some wacky kids' show thieving then you're going to be keen to watch (or read, the manga is adorable) the series no matter what. If you're on the fence, here are a couple of things I found to be stand-outs in Kaitou Saint Tail that you might like about it too.

Saint Tail = Seira & Meimi

Saint Tail the thief is really a team of two people. You've got Seira who gathers all the intel & helps plan, then you've got Meimi who acts as the muscle and executes the scheme. If you removed either of them you wouldn't have the legendary phantom thief everyone talks about in the series. Seira is never magical herself, she goes between God/Meimi/the community to help save "lost lambs" but her role is vital and Meimi's feats as Saint Tail are truly part of a team effort.

I've honestly always loved this about the series, that Seira isn't some friend kept in the dark nor is she another magical thief to team up with, she's got her own unique role to play that utilises her skills just as much as Meimi's role relies on her talents too. Together they are a phantom bigger than any one tween girl could ever be.

Meimi is physically adept

There's room for all types of magical girls in the genre imho and these days we've seen lots of magical girls who can land a solid punch as well as those better suited to intellectual challenges. However, in the mid-90s at a time when Tsukino Usagi and Hanasaki Momoko said it was OK to be clumsy and not great at athletics, Meimi said it was just as OK to be athletic and have excellent fine motor skills.

One thing I didn't note in my above summary of the series is that while Meimi does a whole lot of VISUALLY magical girl things like transform in the anime, she doesn't actually have any supernatural abilities. Meimi is instead adept at stage magic thanks to her father's profession and she plays a lot of tricks to get the job done (while following in her mother's footsteps as well). Meimi can't punch a bad guy through a wall like a Precure, but her strength allows her to frequently save other characters or pull herself out of tricky situations.

Asuka Jr. provides a great contrast

While Asuka Jr. can ride a bike pretty fast he's not that physically strong, which is a contrast to a lot of love interests in the genre who are tough enough to give the heroine enough time to finish the job (Tuxedo Kamen and Limone, for example). Asuka Jr. is more of an intellectual who despite managing to figure out a lot of what's going on with Saint Tail's capers, can never seem to get pin her down (and yeah yeah we know Meimi looks like Saint Tail but this is a cartoon for kids, being in on that while Asuka Jr. goes mad trying to find Saint Tail is part of the overall charm of the thing imho).

I think a decent chunk of what I like about Asuka Jr. as a male lead in Kaitou Saint Tail is that he's not some older, mysterious guy who helps solve problems; Asuka Jr. is a brat who causes most of Meimi's problems and because of his clueless youth he's also quite oblivious to her burgeoning romantic feelings for him. But I love that? They both feel like they're young kids challenging each other on an equal playing field.

While Asuka. Jr doesn't necessarily disagree with Saint Tail's objectives (to right wrongs), he doesn't support her methods (stealing is baaaaaad) and he's following his own moral code which is perhaps a little more conventional than hers. Meimi and Asuka jr. certainly bicker, but they have a lot in common that becomes apparent over time and their differences do indeed prove to be complementary to each other's in the long run.

The stakes are fairly low

Wait, isn't this a bad thing? Shouldn't the stakes be super high in order for us to care about the series? No, I don't think every magical girl series needs to have high stakes to leave an impact or be meaningful. I love that Kaitou Saint Tail isn't about a potentially world-ending event or magical abilities that could change reality as we know it. Heck, there's an episode where the entire goal of Saint Tail's elaborate scheme is to get back a notebook that a classmate gave to her crush accidentally before he can read it.

In that sense, it harkens back to a lot of older majokko shows that, while having some supernatural gifts for the heroine that Meimi doesn't technically have, still chose to focus on the lead solving personal problems or issues in the local community rather than fighting to save the planet.

This isn't to say there are no stakes at all or anything. Meimi's greatest problem lies in her diverging identities and the fact that, as ostensibly a criminal to those not helped by her talents, Saint Tail being unmasked would ruin her life. I know they're not huge stakes compared to galactic evils, but Saint Tail being an outlaw and the way the persona is both a blessing & curse to Meimi certainly is present throughout the series.

Kaitou Saint Tail's stakes might not be as high as those in Nurse Angel Ririka SOS, Tokyo Mew Mew, or any number of Precure seasons, but there's definitely a place for that in the genre and if you'd like something a little more laid back (that's still plenty of fun & with twists and turns a plenty, mind you) then this series might be worth checking out.

The anime doesn't overstay its welcome

The Kaitou Saint Tail anime is a fairly tight production that deftly balances fun filler (remember when we were allowed to have filler eps???) with more emotional story touch points and doesn't feel at all drawn out, which was certainly an issue even for some of my favourite series of the period. While I wouldn't say the anime is perfect or anything, it really doesn't have any majorly weak arcs or huge dips in quality overall.

Kaitou Saint Tail has lovely music (I'm partial to the first OP/ED combo myself), some great 90s animators at work (Abe Junko, Ishino Satoshi, Kadonosono Megumi & Gotou Keiji, Watanabe Nobuhiro, Ochi Kazuhiro, Motohashi Hideyuki, etc.), and a cast of talented seiyuu (Sakurai Tomo as Meimi and Inoue Kikuko as Seira being the stand outs).

While there are some changes to the source material and a lot of the cute, whispy beauty of Tachikawa Megumi's original artwork is lost on screen, the animated version of Kaitou Saint Tail is worth picking up not just to support the release of magical girl titles in the US market, but because it is a solid little series that I know I always appreciate spending some time with.

Anyway those are my rambling thoughts on the series. It won't be for everyone, but if you're interested in magical girl classics then you might want to check out the upcoming US release from Discotek on blu-ray.

Did y'all notice that Phayu smacks his lips and looks at Rain's lips like 30 times during this one minute of conversation?

Rain was SO READY too - he closed his eyes as soon as Phayu's lips touched his. infinity/10 sweetest first kiss. It looks very aesthetically pleasing with the blurred out, neutral background.

Phayu says thank you to Rain here. At first, I thought he was thanking him for the kiss, or for coming to see him. Now, I think it's probably for everything - thank you for meeting me, thank you for making me like you, thank you for not running away, thank you for meeting my expectations, and thank you for liking me back. And then we barely get time to recover from the sweetness of that kiss before Phayu is giving us this adorable face (which is my second favorite of Phayu's faces)

It's Rain's turn!! Ahh it's so cute that he was so nervous at first but then he remembers that Phayu is supporting him (plus kiss!) and his confidence is restored! Also the background + Rain's tie is giving us some more yellow + navy blue. Cute!

Listen, I know this shot is for dramatic purposes and that Rain looks truly beautiful in the rain, but you can't tell me that he and P' Saifah haven't exchanged numbers yet. Rain totally could've waited in the house or even in his car, which he definitely drove there in. My dumb son

It's ok, Phayu is here though!! And Rain gets to tell him the good news!! Phayu seems more concerned about how wet Rain is though, and for good reason. He's probably watched a few BLs so he knows that the male leads often have the constitution of sickly Victorian children when it comes to the rain. He's rightly concerned for Rain's health.

Also we get the switch from Pum to Rain (the way Rain refers to himself) during this convo! I did not notice this on my own and will try to find and link the person's post who did. To my understanding, this is a more personal way of referring to oneself and it's yet another way Phayu and Rain are closer now! They're about to get real close tho ;)

Rain's death-grip on Phayu counter is probably up to 10 now too. I don't think I've said this before but Noeul has really nice hands. They're good for holding a certain someone's face and neck:

I was going to tell you all a story here and make you wait a bit longer, but I'll post it separately. As for these two, they literally did not wait any more. From here on out this is entirely self-indulgent. Enjoy!

I absolutely ADORE how they framed this scene with the curtains and the rain and the soft blue lighting that looks like moonlight. I also really like Phayu's hand placement in this entire bathtub sequence. Additionally, Rain gets a good amount of active participation in during these kisses (BossNoeul said dead fish kisses whomst?? we don't know her). It's another indicator of how happy and comfortable Rain is to be there

Another thing I've already mentioned is that I completely am in love with the way BossNoeul portrayed the way that PhayuRain look at each other. I have never been as convinced that the on-screen couple is in love as I am with these two. Also I am counting this as a headpat even though it's more of a cheekbone stroke :)

Again, they look so comfy and I love how softly their eyes slip closed when they kiss. Also reiterating that I love Phayu's hand placement here - it's like he's cradling Rain in his palms

How am I supposed to cope with this? Also I'm serious, where did Noeul learn to look like that? AND PHAYU'S HANDS send help

Wait I accidentally paused after Rain told Phayu to let him go so he could take a bath and this is so funny - Phayu's like babe did you really think I'm gonna let you go now??

all of us are dead- show about high schoolers as a zombie apocalypse starts. very funny and relatable, literally they call the police and are like 'have you seen train to busan?' bffrrn. has a lot of social commentary and there are references to the sinking of mc sewol (a cruise that sunk where the captain deserted it and left a large amount of high schoolers to drown). commentary about how adults save themselves first/leave youth to fend for themselves. one of my comfort shows and although they didn't intend for more seasons, it was received so well that they have been renewed! I am also an ot4 truther and sometimes talk about them on my international shows sideblog: @nam-on-jo

sweet home- (disclaimer: I am not caught up and have not yet seen s2 which came out a little while ago) honestly I have no idea how to explain this so I'm gonna copy-paste the blurb: as humans turn into savage monsters, one troubled teenager and his neighbours fight to survive and to hold onto their humanity. basically people turn into monsters for [redacted] reasons and everyone in his large apartment building is stuck inside trying to fend for their lives.

my name- I'm just going to paste the blurbs going forward because it's easier: Following her father's murder, a revenge-driven woman puts her trust in a powerful crime boss -- and enters the force under his direction. bro some of these twists I expected but others caught me off guard. I love the main character and am a little gay for her but I think that's valid because she's a bamf. there was a plot point at the end of the second to last episode that I really didn't like and made me very upset. narratively I get why they did it but it made me sad so I'm still pissy. might get around to writing a fix-it fic one day when motivation strikes because my girl deserves better things.

the guest- a detective, a catholic priest, and a psychic join forces to fight crime caused by supernatural forces. not to say they are my ot3 but they kinda are. (other ppl interpret it is a lesbian and her two bi/gay bffs which I also accept but. ot3 tho). LOVED every twist and turn and how the three of them go from not trusting one another to being family. genuinely one of my favorites from all the kdramas I've watched over the years and I want to rewatch it again soon

happiness (tvn)- The residents of a high-rise apartment fight for their lives against a deadly infectious disease while Sae-bom and Yi-hyun try to find the person because of whom the virus spread. bro I adored this. some characters annoyed me (which means they were written effectively) but it has so much. fake dating/marriage (they wanted a better apartment lmao). annoyances to lovers. mean/rude woman soft for sunshine man. what you will do for the people you love. morals and humanity during a catastrophy. *smacks show* you can fit so much into this. no but seriously, I thought this was a really interesting take on the zombie virus! so some of the time you come off completely asymptomatic and 'normal', so people can get away with acting normal and hiding the disease around other people, so the paranoia and mystery is REALLY amped up. had me guessing a LOT. sae-bom and yi-hyun are both cops/detectives and you find out really early (ep 1/2?) that sae-bom is immune which gives a really interesting dynamic that leaves her (to yi-hyun's exasperation and heightened blood pressure levels) to be kinda reckless in the pursuit of truth and salvation. I'm rambling now because this is making me watch to rewatch but yeah as a zombie/dystopia/apocalypse lover this was a good watch. it's more story-focused than violence-heavy which was a cool and refreshing twist

alice in borderland- okay y'all I am aware people had mixed feelings about s2 but overall I did enjoy the series. 'Obsessed gamer Arisu suddenly finds himself in a strange, emptied-out version of Tokyo in which he and his friends must compete in dangerous games in order to survive.' what can I say, I love a dystopian-esque setting.

the silent sea- imma be real, I only watched it for loml bae doona from sense8. 'During a perilous 24-hour mission on the moon, space explorers try to retrieve samples from an abandoned research facility steeped in classified secrets.' basically earth is in severe crisis mode as they run out of water to drink. water has recently been found on the moon, and although there was a mysterious tragedy that happened previously to researchers looking for water in a base on the moon, they have reached a level of desperation where they have another mission to look for moon water. mystery, paranoia, a couple of good twists ensue. I thought it was pretty good even though I have some mixed feelings about the open ending.

semantic error- yes I am sliding a bl into this list. bitch you thought. of course my bl-loving self would mention this (I forgot about it until I looked up good kdramas to remind myself of stuff I have watched). 'A strict, rule-abiding computer science major must work together with an artist with a polar-opposite personality to his.' confident cool boy meets bitch boy. it's great.

and of course...

leverage con artists- I would be fired from running this blog if I didn't mention the beloved korean spinoff of leverage. 'The series follows the story of Lee Tae-joon, a former insurance investigator who forms a team of thieves and con artists to target the rich and wealthy. The team was also formed to avenge Tae-joon's son's death.' I've posted about it before so I won't go super into it but it's VERY camp, a good time, and the ot3 is alive and well. debatable more overt than their predecessor!

other mentionables:

I tried watching kingdom (again for bae doona) but couldn't really get into it. might try again later because it's critically acclaimed (I think) and has even gotten a spinoff series

my roommate really liked mr queen. I didn't really pay attention when we were in the same room and they were watching it but it's fruity

the island on amazon prime was good! interesting plot but not in my top 10 or anything. worth a watch if you're looking for a kdrama to watch in your spare time. features girlboss businesswoman being thrown into a world of the supernatural because [redacted]. supernatural black horse man keeps her safe while keeping a life-changing secret.

let's fight ghost was a thai show that I saw and loved that was adapted into a kdrama called bring it on ghost, but honestly I couldn't get through it because I liked the thai one better.

train to busan is technically a movie but it's iconic and well-known and I highly suggest watching it if you like zombie/apocalypse movies. disclaimer: kdramas do not have the slow 'walker' zombies. they are fucking fast and the stuff of my nightmares. would probably just jump off a bridge if this actually happened ngl

I did think that extraordinary attorney woo was cute. I never finished it and know that there are VERY valid criticisms about the perpetuation of media portraying people with autism in the stereotypical savant ways. however, I liked how the love interest accepted her for who she was, loved her because of who she was and made efforts to accommodate and learn how to comfort her in ways that would work for her

business proposal was pretty decent if you like lighthearted romance- I didn't finish it but would like to at some point

Little Moments with Massive Impacts

I absolutely adored Daughter of the Moon Goddess and Heart of the Sun God, and there is something lush and comfortable and quietly gripping about Sue Lynn Tan's writing. When Tan's original duology ended, I was satisfied, but honestly this is one of those worlds where I would happily take anything more the author was willing to give us. And she has given us some new small moments and an epilogue that just wrapped my heart in a warm blanket and squish hugged it. Let's talk Tales of the Celestial Kingdom.

SPOILER WARNING!!! I am going to spoil not only TotCK, but DotMG and HotSG. BE WARNED.

This little short story collection is divided into three main sections: "Dusk," "Twilight," and "Dawn." Each section covers moments before, during, or after the main duology. The only story from Xingying's perspective is the last one; the other stories are from the perspective of other characters.

"Dusk" focuses on Chang'e and Houyi and expands their relationship before Xingying's birth. It also explores the toll killing the sunbirds took on Houyi and the choices that led to Chang'e taking the immortality elixir to save her own and Xingying's life. Seeing their relationship and their clear love for each other before decades of grief and change have colored and complicated it was a delight. Chang'e and Houyi in this version of their tale are fiercely in love, and that is ultimately what makes their story so tragic.

I also loved that, despite the brevity of the stories, the emotions were clear, complex, and communicated effectively. That can be hard to do in short form (I have always been terrible at it; I like to have a little more space to really wallow in feelings when I write) and I've never been a major short story girl; I like novel-length stuff. But I was entirely here for this reimagining of the Chang'e myth.

"Twilight" fills in spaces that were implied but not explored during the DotMG and HotSG timelines. We get a little more Liwei and Xingying as students, with a quick little adventure just as Liwei realizes he is beginning to fall in love. We also get a little more Wenzhi and Xingying in the Celestial army, also as Wenzhi realizes he is falling in love. I absolutely adore seeing Xingying through their eyes, and it was very instructive to see how they perceive their relationship with Xingying. I was ALWAYS a Wenying (Xingzhi? I dunno, reblog with your preferred ship name) girl, because quite frankly Liwei had too many Prince Jonathan of Conte vibes for me to think he was a good idea. Getting into Liwei's head just strengthened that perception, and while I can understand that he and Wenzhi were both inherently flawed characters...frankly I could support Wenzhi's flaws a lot more smoothly than Liwei's. (Honestly y'all, I might actually need to slap Liwei, especially when he's out here being an UTTER DICKHEAD).

Our boys aren't the only perspectives in "Twilight." We also get Shuxiao and Mengqi's mission to free the Celestial Emperor from Wugang. We are always here for BFF Shuxiao, and honestly if we were ever to get another short story collection in the Celestial Kingdom, I want a slice-of-life first date for these lovely ladies, because they have SUCH A SPARK. Like, we get one short story for them. It is 19 pages. And yet I am HERE for them to have a long, happy life snarking off at each other. The chemistry was just beautifully done. Give our girls their own book.

Finally, "Dawn" gives us a little more from Wenzhi in his mortal life, and Yingxing inserting herself into it. It's darling, and I appreciate the subtle nuances and differences that highlight that yes, this is definitely Wenzhi, but it's not Wenzhi the Prince of the Demon Realm. And yet he and Xingying are still perfect for each other, still love each other. And they have their first mortal date at Wenzhi's favorite tea house. It's DARLING.

What the final story does, however, is give me the ending that I desperately hoped for--but notably did not get--at the end of HotSG. The end of that book gives us the hope that Wenzhi and Xingying will have an immortal life together with Wenzhi's memories and experiences as an immortal restored to him. It was a wonderful, uplifting end to a book that had a lot to do with grief, but the thing it didn't do was make it too easy. Which I think is so important for good storytelling.

That said, actually getting Xingying and Wenzhi reuniting as immortals, and--for Wenzhi--picking up after he had just sacrificed himself for Xingying was SO. SATISFYING. We had the hope, we knew it was a possibility, and that's often what we have to sit with and exist with in real life. That's fine. But every once in a while--a very great while, it seems--we get the fruition of that hope and promise. We actually get the unambiguously happy ending and we, along with Xingying, remember that happiness is crucial.

Y'all, the end of this collection is so soft and happy, and I'm so deeply grateful that it's in the world with me.

Morning After

Part 1

Steve places the coffee mug down in front of you. It’s tense, silent. Words unspoken, thoughts concealed. The night before trembles within, ready to erupt like a volcano but you won’t let it. You take a sip.

“You good?” Steve asks.

“Fine,” you answer stiffly, “just waking up.”

You glance at Loki as you lean your elbows on the table. He gives you a brief peek above his cell phone, thumb flicking across the screen. You rub your eyes and squeeze your thighs together. You feel his hand there still, hear his coaxing whispers; it’s okay, baby, I’m just taking care of you.

Since when did he feel this way? You’re friends. You laugh together, gossip even, and tell each other about your shit days. He’s not supposed to touch you like that.

“Sorry we don’t have much to choose from,” Steve sets the tall cup in front of Loki, “neither of us is very into tea.”

You sit back as their eyes meet. Each clench their jaws in a face off. Loki dips his chin slightly, “not at all, very much appreciated. The two of you keep such a warm home.”

“You didn’t find her plushies, did you?” Steve kids and you give him a look. He winces as he notices. “Well, guess I should head off before I put my other foot in my mouth.”

“Thanks, Steve,” you lower your gaze to the table and cradle the mug with your hands, “really.”

“Both our homes, don’t mind some company,” he shrugs, “just make sure you rinse the cups.”

“Thank you, Steven,” Loki enunciates tritely.

A low tisk bounces off Steve’s teeth as he checks his watch and sighs. “See ya,” he marches out and you take a well-needed draught of coffee.

Loki puts his phone down and twirls the spoon in his cup. You watch his fingers, recalling how they felt on your clit, playing you like a fiddle until you keened into his palm. Humiliation spatters on your scalp.

“What’s wrong with you two?” you huff.

“Nothing. I am cordial.”

“Loki,” you warn.

He rolls his eyes and glances away. You watch him, a task as you find it hard to look at him at all.

“You shouldn’t live here with him. It’s… improper.”

You scoff. His eyes flit back to you sharply.

“Improper? What about last night?”

His lips twitch, “last night?”

“Don’t do that.”

“You didn’t kick me out of bed,” he smirks.

“I didn’t invite you in, either.”

He sticks his tongue between his teeth, a guilty expression aimed at the table, “I couldn’t help myself. Perhaps I didn’t go about it the right away but I’ve made my feelings clear. Now we can… work through them. Together.”

“Are you kidding?”

“Not at all. I’m very serious about you. I’ve not put in three years for a place on your floor. To be a third party to him,” he peeks at the door sourly, “you cannot remain. You must come stay with me.”

“I’m not doing that and what happened last night can’t happen again.”

“You didn’t hate it–”

“I also didn’t ask for it,” you retort.

He huffs and his nostrils flare. He places his hand on the back of your chair and looks you in the face, “didn’t you? I come over, you’re getting out of the shower? You text me those photos of all your cute outfits. Oh, and not to mention all your gripes about needing a real man. Surely you’re not dumb enough to think it’s your ridiculous roommate.”

“This isn’t about Steve,” you gulp.

“No, it’s about us. About you. I can’t have you under his roof when you belong to me.”

“Excuse me? Belong to you?”

“Oh, yes, darling, since the day we met. You never wondered once why none of your dates ever called you back?”

You stare at him. Shocked. He wouldn’t. Well you also didn’t think he’d do what he did the night before. How well do you truly know your best friend, if that’s what he is.

Okay, so I finally had time to log back into tumblr and see you explained about Midnight Museum but now I am even more confused. So like, Khatha is immortal, but Dome isn't? But they were ~sworn brothers~ in the 1800s? Or is Dome also immortal but he doesn't remember Khatha? Or does he remember him and that's why he's his shit employee? But like if I was remembered being someone's ~brother in arms~ I'm not gonna like be your employee, lol. Are they really running a brothers thing when this man is like on the ground with this other's man foot on his thigh and like giving him an anklet? AN ANKLET? In 2023? And they're straight people? And brothers at that? With a $3 BILLION anklet? Why does Off get to be paired with damn near every woman in this company but Gun can't be in a show with another dude being his man? THAILAND EXPLAIN (pointing at map like the america explain vine).

Okay, first, I love how stuck you are on the 3 billion dollar anklet cause bitch me to the fuck Khatha lmaooooo

Lemme see if I can break this down, some light spoilers:

Khatha owns the museum, we know this b/c he says so and he's wearing a sexy suit and has a sexy cane to boot. All mysterious supernatural building owners wear sexy fashion statements Hotel Del Luna taught us this. Khatha is immortal, but via a curse, so he's constantly sad and struggling. He's a wet cat, just sad, pathetic, and crying. It's very hot, good for him.

Khatha was cursed by his """"bro"""" Chan something like 200 years ago. Chan is played by the same actor as Dome (we'll get there stay wit me) so they share a face. Khatha found Chan passed out in a boat b/c God likes to gift angel faced twinks to struggling disabled men sometimes I guess. Khatha is an orphan so he had no name, so Chan names him "Khatha" which means cane/spector apparently so whenever Google translates tweets from Thai fans they always say "I can't believe cane/the mace did this" and it's unintentionally hilarious

Oh and Khatha names Chan, Chan b/c he "found [him] under the moonlight". Khatha and Chan are Tragic AF for some reason Khatha thinks naming the angel faced twink after the moon is like, a lead in to being brothers. So Khatha is like "hey 'let's be adopted bros now" and Chan is like....I'm new here so I guess? Chan also has magic, he's able to heal ppl. Eventually he accidently becomes like a worshipped deity in their small village and another dude named Boon is like his top worshipper. This all causes friction between Chan and Khatha cause Khatha's low key lonely and jealous.

Khatha is like "let's run away together just the two of us as brothers like how it used to be" and Chan's like, nah. Khatha tries to join the army so he can be worthy of standing by Chan's side and the army is like "we gotta burn the witch (Chan)" and Khatha makes a deal with the army that they'll let him join if he gives them Chan and they're like "we totally won't hurt your brother" and Khatha's like I totally trust y'all won't hurt my brother

The army burns Chan alive.

Chan cursed Khatha and we zoom back to the present where Khatha is the museum owner.

Enter Dome! Dome is also magical and at first Khatha wonders if he's like Chan's reincarnation or something but he's not. Dome is a separate being (??). Dome gets invited to the museum by Khatha and Dome's ex bff breaks in and steals a bunch of evil shit with some buddies. Dome feels bad and is like "I gotta help you get the evil shit back!"

Dome and Khatha go on Getting Evil Shit Back adventures and proceed to Have Moments and Khatha keeps touching Dome's face like it's going out of style. Also holding him cause Dome passes out more often than a frat dude during rush week.

After like, the 5th time of Dome putting himself in danger b/c he's brave but dumb and shockingly fragile Khatha is like "I'm buying you this protection anklet" and then fires Dome for his protection. The next episode 85% of Khatha's screentime is dedicated to pining after Dome, looking at his corkboard of Dome photos, gazing longingly and sadly at Dome's photographs, crying on the phone after Dome calls him to wish him well. It's pathetic, it's beautiful, it's romantic.

Other stuff like cults, the end of the world, that dude from Bad Buddy showing up, that dude from 2Gether also showing up, the two dudes from the Thai adaption of Cherry Magic are also here, a whole episode of soul crushingly attractive women some I think were in F4 are also here as well. There's also like, four versions of God, and the Horsemen of the Apocalypse are here too. Chan shows back up too for funsies.

Dome ends up in like, an alt realm where he imagines Khatha to keep himself company and they look at the universe together. Dome is able to see real!Khatha by picturing the person he's "longing for". Khatha is hella determined to get Dome back.

Some more plot stuff happens, more crying, more resolving one's inner grief, a couple deaths, some deals with evil spirits are made. Khatha and Dome meet their world's version of God who 3rd wheels their floating rock date. They have and the height difference has a chokehold on me.

At the end Khatha has to find Dome even tho all the higher beings in the universe are like "don't do it" and Khatha is like fuck y'all I gotta find my "missing piece". They find each other, they hold hands and then run into the future together (away from gun fire and stuff like ya do).

So Dome's not immortal but he is magical, Khatha was immortal via a curse. The series is Khatha getting over a past love (Chan) and moving to a new love without guilt (Dome) and no one can convince me otherwise.

We all need a season 2.

i think joon would be sooooo cool about it like he loves meeting new people and doing things and bc he knows you're a fan it really would be like hanging out with an old friend like you'd probably meet up around noon hit up a brunch spot chat over eggs and coffee and then ya know i don't think you'd end up at a museum bc that's his interest and he loves it soooo much that he would not be focusing on you so i think he'd do something more neutral like a bike ride or something and then sit and talk under a tree at some point get some ice cream or something and just walk around and talk and then get dinner like really the whole day would just be eating and talking tbh bc he the type that got something to say about everything and tbh i do too <333 so that'd be my ideal day we'd 100% be besties by the end of it and i'd probably be in love with him or something or maybe not if our core principles are diametrically opposed but bffs fo sho

hanging out with seokjin would NOT be an all day affair unless you convinced him to play games with you or let you watch him play games which would be hard to do he'd probably say it was boring for you and that y'all should do something more exciting and so i think if you was to hang out with seokjin you could like do a cooking class with him like he'd get chef baek or one of his other celeb chef friends to teach him a recipe and y'all could cook together and then eat and drink together it'd be cute bc he'd be rambling the whole time bc he get nervous like mouf moving a mile a minute talking nonsense until he gets comfortable with u and then his mouf would be moving two miles a minute either way i think it'd be really fun like you know he silly and got all the jokes and he'd be so caring worrying over you while you chopping telling you to be careful bc you the one that pay his bills it's true he just wants you to be safe so you can continue cutting his checks <\3

"Oh my god, stop!" You giggle, waking Austin by accident. He winces at the sudden noise.

"Well, thank you, you're sweet to notice. I've gotta go, but hopefully that should be all you need to survive without me," you tease whoever it is on the phone with you, and then you quickly hang up when you see that Austin is awake.

"Who'sat?" Austin mumbles, cuddling close to you.

"Oh that was Nicky. He just needed a few things before I'm back in the office, and I've been texting y/bff/n and y/cpf/n too. Big news and all," you smile and kiss him. "Good morning Handsome," you purr and he shakes his head.

"Let's go back to sleep, Mama," he says softly and you nod.

"Okay, baby, we've had an exciting couple days... my future husband," you purr and he smiles, hiding his face a little.

"My Memphis Mama... My wife," he murmurs, and he holds you close as you both enjoy sleeping in a little together. When you wake up, Austin is already awake, watching you sleep, holding your left hand and admiring the ring on your finger.

"Hello?" He growls, very annoyed.

"Hey sweetheart, Sorry to break up the engsgement honeymoon but... did you by chance buy the house you're staying in?" She asks and he tries to take the phone off speaker but it doesn't work.

"You really can't do that. If you arrive at the same time they do and you try to leave, they’ll chase you, I won't let that happen," you say firmly and Austin looks at you, full of love and admiration. "This is what I do, Priscilla. I love that you wanna help, but I've gotta do what I do now and protect my Austin. That includes protecting you," you add, throwing clothes and everything in to the suitcases, and you leave out an outfit for Austin, who is clingjng to you, yanking on some leggings and a t shirt. You quickly take off your ring and hold out your hand for his, slipping it off of him, not noticing his grip on you tightening and his enxiety go through the roof.

"Not today, my love," you shake your head and he sighs.

"I know. Warn me next time," he says quietly and you kiss him quickly.

"We all packed?" You ask and he looks around, expression unreadable but his body language is uncomfortable and defeated.

"I think so, let's go," he sounds frantic and upset, which is how you feel. As you leave the house, the cameras start flashing.

"Fuck," you mutter and he bows his head, trying to put himself between you and the prying eyes. You give the cameras the middle finger as you hurry to the car and he puts your bags in the trunk and opens the door for you, lifting you into the car and clambering in as the car starts moving before the paparazzi can block the way. "You flipped off the vultures," he moans, pushing his hands into your leggings.

"You bought me a house," you purr, and kiss him back just as fiercely. The driver takes it upon himself to put the partition up as Austin tugs your leggings down so he can attach his lips to your clit.

"Yeah, he's being nice, you know Nicky, he's being a good assistant," you yawn and he helps you out of the car, making sure your bags are taken care of.

"A good assistant doesn't ask his boss out to dinner and call her honey," he laughs, shaking his head.

"I trust you. I don't trust that ambitious weasel one bit, but I trust my mama and my wife with every bit of me," he whispers as you board the plane, narrowly escaping photographers starting to gather.

You take his hand to lead him inside and you push him back against the makeshift bed.

"Why don't you show Nicky who I belong to?" You ask and he bites his lip, nodding enthusiastically.

"Hold up your hand with your ring finger, like you're flipping off the camera, but its your ring," you giggle. He does it with a smile and you do the same, and you take a picture, posting it quickly with a specific caption.

When you stop shaking with sobs and breathe a little easier, he tilts your face to look at him.

"Sure, just tell her I called and that I'm here for her," Nicky says and even you roll your eyes at that.

"I... I'll tell her, man, she'll appreciate that. Can you have my team get to work? Y/N and I made an announcement today on instagram, they have work to do," Austin smirks and then he hangs up. "Okay, baby I don't wanna be THAT fiancé about this, but that guy is obsessed with you," he laughs and you give him a look, taking off your clothes and getting into one of the comfy satin lounge sets Austin had bought for you. You lay back on the bed, showing off the satin and lace, and you place your left hand on your belly, showing off the ring as well.

"Someone should tell him I'm completely obsessed with my sexy fiancé," you sigh happily. Austin shoves his suitcases off the bed and gets on top of you, caging you in with his strong arms. You shiver at the anticipation he creates by hovering above you, and when he leans down to whisper in your ear all the things he plans to do to you, you arch up into him like a magnet reaching, unencumbered, for its beloved perfect other half.

Laying together, munching on hotel room service pizza, and house hunting with Austin is pretty much the best way you can think of to spend your day, barring your original plan to still be in Memphis together.

"You'd look really cute cooking naked in this kitchen," he says casually and you laugh.

"Okay, Elvis," you roll your eyes and he bites your shoulder gently.

"Behave, Mama," he growls and you giggle, nuzzling him softly.

"I'll do my best," you promise and he kisses your nose.

"Thank you. Come on, lets pick a couple to tour," he urges you, clearly impatient. You settle on two houses and one incredibly spacious flat to tour, and when you've shut your laptop and are happily leaning agaist Austin's strong chest, you open your phone. You immediately wish you hadn't.

It had been on silent so you hadn't seen all the vitriol and hate flooded your way.

The instagram comments, ranging from "doesn't she work for him? Sus", "wow really she's like a 4 and he's like a 12", "Bet she's in it for the money", and even "If they have kids they better look like him because oof" are flooding your comments. You clench your jaw and move on to the texts.

Ashley: He told me he was thinking of asking, congrats you guys, love you!

Y/bff/N: ommmggggg ur marrying him! And YOU MET PRISCILLA! CALL MEEEE!!!

overall very annoying but in a loving way
