I’ve been doing another challenge combination using the inktober 2019 prompts with the vectober challenge. I’m uploading them mainly on my twitter.
It serves as vector practice and has been quite a lot of fun so far. I’m making them available as stickers here.

A, B, G, R, & W
A - Your current OTP
I showed up to Stucky ten years late with Starbucks. (Hahahaha, I crack myself up.) But I also am really into Kate Bishop/Yelena Belova, especially after the Hawkeye finale today!
B - A pairing you initially didn’t consider but someone changed your mind
I can't really think of one... I just go by Vibes and am very much a multishipper, so it's not super common that I really actively Don't/Can't Ship Something. I guess the closest that I have to this would be Percy Jackson/Nico Di Angelo, because I started shipping them through fic rather than through the books themselves. Shoutout to @igrab and the other great LJ fic writers for that!
G - Do you remember your first OTP, if so who was in it
Jacob Bluejay/Gloria Gopher on Under the Umbrella Tree, probably, when I was like four, because I was convinced they were in love. Or Michelle/Howie on Full House when I was two and they were also two, lol. But for ACTUAL SHIPS that were involved in Actual Fandom, my first OTP was Harry/Ginny back when only HPSS and HPCoS had been released. Womp womp.
R - A pairing you ship that you don’t think anyone else ships
Steve Rogers/Scott Lang. I know there ARE other shippers but dang, there is NO fic, and they're so delightful! Steve deserves to laugh! Also basically every femslash ship, especially in Star Wars.
W - 5 favorite characters from 5 different fandoms
Poe Dameron, Wanda Maximoff, Finnick Odair, Claudia Kishi, Phryne Fisher!

Kiss the 'Love Boat' Goodbye
Tumblr media
If you remember Saturday night TV dominated by a double-header of feel-good, travel-inspired shows, with the ‘Love Boat’ followed by ‘Fantasy Island’, this is the end of an era.
The ‘Love Boat’ is sailing off into the sunset. Princess Cruises’ most famous ship, the Pacific Princess, has left the fleet.
Tumblr media
Princess Cruises tells us that, in its years at sea, the Pacific Princess sailed, “more than 1.6 million nautical miles, including 11 unforgettable World Cruise voyages and countless cruises to exotic locales.”
But its real legacy is pure fiction.
The Pacific Princess popularized modern cruising to millions of TV viewers through its star role as the ‘Love Boat’. In the romantic comedy/ light drama by feel-good TV producer Aaron Spelling, the zany antics of Captain Stubing and his team, as well as shipboard lifestyle aboard the Pacific Princess, became part of TV viewers’ lives for 250 episodes and 3, hour-long popular TV specials years after the series wrapped.
Tumblr media
The series was based on a non-fiction book ‘Love Boats’, written by real-life cruise director, Jeraldine Saunders.
Long after the wrap of the ‘Love Boat’ TV series, its spirit sailed on, with an enduring relationship with Princess Cruises, which continued to invite the ageing cast to ship naming ceremonies and events.
As recently as 2015, Pacific Princess sailed a ‘throwback cruise’, recreating the cruise line’s very first itinerary to the Mexican Riviera in celebration of the 50th anniversary of Princess Cruises. Cast members sailing with this special cruise included Gavin MacLeod ('Captain Stubing' and Princess Cruises Ambassador), Fred Grandy (Gopher, the chief purser), Ted Lange (Isaac, the bartender), Bernie Kopell (Doc, the ship’s doctor), Lauren Tewes (cruise director, Julie) and Jill Whelan (Vicki, the captain’s daughter). Together with the guests, they celebrated the role the show played in Princess Cruises’ five-decades-long history introducing the cruise line – and cruise vacations – to an audience of millions.
Tumblr media
For that cruise, Princess debuted a featured, Valentine’s Day cocktail ‘The Isaac’ in honour of the character of Isaac the bartender and his scarlet jacket. Actor Ted Lange, even demonstrated ‘The Isaac’ (and revived his signature ‘grin-and-point’ move) in this video, complete with era-appropriate funk soundtrack.
“Most people don’t know that while I was serving up drinks on the Love Boat, I also became a licensed bartender in real life,” said Lange. “If a bartender recognizes me, he or she always wants me to try their special drink. Now, I’m excited for everyone to try my special drink and I know they are going to love it. Like the song says, “come aboard, the Isaac’s waiting for you!”
Tumblr media
Enjoy ‘The Isaac’ at home to celebrate your own Valentine’s Day, the legacy of the Love Boat, and a return to cruising!
 ‘The Isaac’ Ingredients:
2 oz white rum
2 oz pomegranate syrup
½ oz fresh lime juice
splash of club soda
lime slice(s)
2 pineapple leaf spears
Preparation:
Fill highball glass with 2/3 ice or desired amount of ice. Into a cocktail shaker, add ice, white rum, pomegranate syrup and lime juice. Shake and strain into highball glass, filling just to the top of the ice. Top off with club soda and garnish with a fresh lime slice and two pineapple spears.
True fans of the ship will be able to rediscover the Pacific Princess under a new name. The ship has been bought and added to the fleet of boutique cruise line Azamara.

Why you should use go programming?
Tumblr media
As innovation advances, so does the quantity of new programming languages. Trends such as universal multiprocessor devices, vast increase in number of mobile devices and current IoT revolution have helped drive this blast. But whatever the reason, nowadays developers are living in  inexorably divided world. So it is your responsibility to keep up with the latest technologies or languages such as “Go”. You can also see the difference between Python, Ruby and GoLang at our blog- A Battle of Trios: Python vs Ruby vs Golang. Let us see, what makes it different from its competitors and why should you use it?
What is Go?
Tumblr media
Google started Go language. It emphasizes simplicity and clarity in its code so it is easy to understand and maintain. Also Go possess a strong features that enable exceptionally complex applications to be developed. It is a response to developing trends that seek to reduce the psychological overhead  that a programming languages needs and reduce compile times to support code-build test loops required by methodologies.
Things you will like about Go-Lang-
1. Golang has good credentials-
Creators of Go contributed to influential things as C, B, Unix, JVM, and others. To meet the challenges of the present and anticipate the challenges of the future, Golang is develop.
2. Golang is open source by nature-
It’s significant for a programming language to be open-source to become better, cleaner, and more efficient. If a code has defects, gophers will recognize and wipe out the problems.
3. Go lang is Fast-
Go has a simple structure and syntax also. It is without classes and type inheritance. This language is based on functions, so it is simple and also fast to learn. It is a compiled language so, it provides faster feedback, shorter time to market, and also saves time and money. Because of its simplicity, it is more maintainable, and development is faster and cheaper.
4. Golang is concurrent-
Concurrency is more important. It allows multiple processes running simultaneously and effectively. Golang has efficient concurrency, like C, C++, Java, and at the same time concurrency in Go is done much easier.
5. Cross-platform-
Different platforms, such as Windows, Linux, Unix and BSD versions and mobile devices can use Go language. Also, it compiles well on many OS’s.
6. Garbage Collector-
A form of automatic memory management which has an important effect on performance and helps to make concurrency more efficient.
7. Golang keeps the bugs away-
Since it is a compiled language, with very strict typization, and it is statically typed, developers have to be more accurate and attentive, so the code is neater and safer.
What makes Go different?
One essential issue Go attempts to explain is the need to diminish the psychological overhead that it puts on engineers. Several aspects of the language highlight this. These include:
Focused vocabulary-
Languages have various keywords that a developer must remember. Some of these keywords are designed to support programming concepts that have been around for decades. With Go, many of these concepts have been consolidated however much as could be expected so as to reduce the amount of keywords required. As a result, Go currently has around 25 keywords, as opposed to 50 or more for languages like Java and C#.
Simple scoping rules-
Many languages offer great flexibility to guarantee that variables and functions can be hidden from other parts of the code base. Go has only three levels of scoping and very simple conventions for determining scope:
Local variables (declared within a function) are scoped to the current block.
Package level variables are scoped to the package if they start with a lower-case letter.
Package level variables are publicly scoped if they start with an upper-case letter.
There’s no “private” scope. But in practice, this actually opens up a lot of opportunities.
Built-in garbage collection-
Garbage collection is a difficult issue. However, manual memory management often causes a genuinely surprising expense on the developer and makes it more difficult to write error-free code. This is the reason ,why the developers of Go made it a requirement to have it in the language. Initially, the garbage collector could negatively affect an application as far as execution. However, the cost of garbage collection is falling rapidly thanks to determined effort.
It is Powerful-
Concurrent execution is a challenge that every modern application must manage so as to exploit the today’s multi-processor computing environments. Go adopted the Communicating Sequential Process (CSP) model that’s been used successfully by Erlang. Go combines light-weight green threads (called goroutines) with communication pipelines called channels to form a simple, powerful concurrency model. This enables an application to run with thousands of actors, without the load of trying to keep shared memory free from corruption.
First-class functions-
When object oriented language overwhelmed the software development landscape, the lowly function was largely relegated to being characterized with regards to a class. With the discovery that first-class functions were one of JavaScript’s good parts, many languages have worked to restore functions to first-class status. Go absorbed this lesson and enables functions to be created and passed around the application. That doesn’t imply that it has abandoned object-orientation; rather, it mixes the best aspects of functional programming and object-oriented styles to provide greater flexibility with as little ceremony as possible.
Batteries included-
To create modern applications, you need more than just a great language. Modern applications depend on testing to ensure correctness, documentation generators to communicate how the application works and to convey how the application functions, and linters to guarantee that coding norms are clung to. Go embraces each of these issues as core concerns of the language, not simply an add-on to be dealt with by another team. As a result, installing the Go development tools provides instant access to all of these capabilities and a guarantee that they’ll work together without having to fight just to get everything working.
Conclusion-
Development with Go is different than other languages. Instead of using dozens of libraries and learning each, Go tells you to learn just a few concepts and then focus on applying those concepts to your problem.
Are you thinking to develop software with Go language? Then Solace is the right platform to start. Developers at Solace are well trained for Go development and they believe in the effectiveness of using Go. Contact us for your developing your business software advanced Go language.

'The Love Boat' cast reunites
More than 40 years after the show first aired, the original cast of the beloved 1970s TV series 'The Love Boat' reunited on the 'Today' show. The cast had just received an honorary star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in partnership with Princess Cruises.
All aboard! The cast of "The Love Boat" is back on deck.
On Friday morning, the original cast of the beloved 1970s TV series "The Love Boat" reunited for one more cruise on the "Today" show.
More than 40 years after the show premiered, the famous cast ‒ including Gavin MacLeod, Ted Lange, Bernie Kopell, Lauren Tewes, Jill Whelan and Fred Grandy ‒ appeared on the morning show live from Los Angeles, where on May 10 they received an honorary star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in partnership with Princess Cruises.
For their reunion, MacLeod, known for his iconic role of Capt. Merrill Stubing, donned his signature captain hat while Lange, who played the ship's spirited bartender Isaac Washington, sported his signature red jacket and mustache. Koppell, who played the ship's doctor, Adam Bricker, wore his signature specs.

Also in attendance was the ship's cruise director, Julie McCoy, played by Tewes, the captain's angelic daughter; Vicki, who was played by Whelan; and Grandy, who played Yeoman Burl Smith but was known for his character nickname, "Gopher."
Prior to reuniting on "Today," the cast sat down with morning hosts Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie to talk about the significance of the classic TV show in May of last year.

'The Love Boat' celebrates its 40th anniversary
When asked how often the cast gets together, Whelan said, "We were all together last night at my apartment."
But the fun-loving cast, who went on to tape eight seasons of the hit series, admitted that they didn't know that the show was going to be a success when it first aired in 1977, produced by Aaron Spelling.
"We got the worst reviews," Koppell said.

According to MacLeod, he knew right from the start "The Love Boat" was classic material. "We had a reading in the office, just the guys. And we finished the reading ... and I'm walking down and a guy says, 'Well, I hope this goes well," and I said, 'I'm telling you we're gonna go at least seven years.'"
Grandy said the show turned out to be such a success partly because there was nothing like it on the air.
"It was romance, at the time there were only cop shows and sitcoms on the air," he said. "So, this show filled some kind of need that only Aaron Spelling understood."

New Erection Will Have Goose Island Sporting Wood
Yes, we’re all a bunch of fifth-graders around here.  But in spite of the juvenile headline, what’s planned for Goose Island is clearly innovative.
Texas mega-developer Hines officially plans to put up a new office building on Goose Island that’s made of wood.
Rendering of T3 Chicago (Courtesy of Hines)
Crain’s Chicago Business first reported Hines knotty notion way back in February, and we noted back then that this isn’t Hines’ first time going out on this limb.  It has a large office building in Minneapolis called T3, which is the home of the Gopher State’s Amazon.com presence. “T3” stands for timber, transit, and technology.  Hines’ Chicago effort will, imaginatively, be called “T3 Chicago.”
https://embed.ted.com/talks/lang/en/michael_green_why_we_should_build_wooden_skyscrapers
The architecture firm that designed T3 in Minneapolis is Michael Green Architecture, and Michael Green did a Ted Talk once about “Why we should build wooden skyscrapers.” He’ll try to work his magic in Chicago, too.
T3 Chicago will be seven stories tall, with 270,000 square feet of space.  In a spot of irony, the new wooden office building will be located where the Big Bay lumber yard once was.
While wooden office buildings are trendy around the world, especially in timber-abundant places like Scandinavia, this will be the first significant permanent wooden building in Chicago in more than a hundred years.  But it likely won’t be the last.
Near North architecture firm Perkins+Will has proposed the 80-story River Beech Tower, as part of CMK and Lendlease’s huge Riverline development south of the Willis Tower.
Rendering of the proposed River Beach Tower
Press release follows.
HINES ANNOUNCES T3 ON CHICAGO’S GOOSE ISLAND
Hines, the international real estate firm, in a joint venture with Diversified Real Estate Capital, LLC (“DRE”) and Big Bay Realty, LLC, announced it will develop T3 Goose Island – a seven-story, 270,000-square-foot heavy timber office development. The project will be the first wood-structured office building developed in Chicago since the 1800s.
Goose Island, an industrial and manufacturing hub since the 1850s, is now being reinvented as a highly desirable office location surrounded by the most affluent residential neighborhoods in Chicago. Sparked by the North Branch Framework, approved by City Council in July, the plan includes infrastructure improvements, added public, pedestrian and bike-friendly transit options, and open space to take advantage of Goose Island’s natural setting on the Chicago River. Until 2015, the T3 Goose Island site was home to Big Bay Lumber.
Hines will work with DLR Group and Michael Green Architects, the architectural team behind the firm’s prototype T3 project in Minneapolis, to design a timber-structured building in homage to the history of the site and as a market differentiator in Goose Island’s evolving neighborhood.
“Users are seeking authentic office environments that enable their culture. They want modern design, efficient operations and environmentally sensitive construction and T3 Goose Island will deliver on all of their expectations,” said Brian Atkinson, Hines managing director.
Designed for collaboration and work/life balance, T3 will offer an exceptional complement of amenities including common social areas, a shared rooftop deck, private tenant-only balconies on each floor, bike storage and repair, a modern fitness facility with locker rooms, and dynamic ground floor retail.
Surrounded by the most vibrant residential neighborhoods in Chicago, including: Bucktown, Wicker Park, Lincoln Park and Old Town, Goose Island is becoming a new hub for progress, easily accessible by bike, water taxi, bus, Metra and car.
The environmental benefit of using wood on T3 is the equivalent to taking 966 cars off the road for a year. With timber as the structural system of the project, T3 will be one of the most environmentally friendly and sustainable developments in Chicago.

The Patrick Henry High School (PHHS) robotics team, the Patribots, took home its first regional championship after a three-day long competition at The Del Mar Fairgrounds held March 9–11. This is the fifth year the team competed at the regionals, but its first year making it into finals.
This year’s game, titled STEAMWORKS, challenged robotics teams to work together in alliances to gather gears, collect fuel, and climb four feet high.
The Patribots’ robot stands 3 inches tall and can lift its 120 pounds 4 feet high by deploying an onboard winch.
After two days of qualifying matches, the Patribots were ranked 14th with a 5-3 record. Senior Anthony Jaynes led efforts in the Patribot pit to repair the robot while programming lead Sean McDonald worked to troubleshoot problems and improve the code, overcoming a broken chain and a disabling collision that led to losses in two of their qualifying matches.
The ranking was good enough to the to get them into the elimination finals as the second team selected during the alliance selections. In the finals, and in alliance with 3rd-ranked Team Paradox from Encinitas and 15th-ranked Daedalus from Escondido, the Blue Alliance ran together a string of exciting victories.
The Patribot’s small, quick robot proved itself in the finals by living up to its name, The Gear Gopher. Yet, it was its last second climb in the best-two-of-three finals that sparked a roar that rocked the arena. With less than a second left in the match, the Patribots touch pad light turned blue — final score: Blue 307, Red 305. The Patribots were champions.

Drive team coach Harrison Lange, drivers Cooper Smith and Caden Rivera, human player Johnny Hays, and pilot Camaron Jaynes celebrated with their allies on the field. Team members in the stands, led by four-year member, president Tyler Bercu, burst into celebration.
As the jubilation subsided, the team took a moment to recall their road to this championship. The previous year’s failures taught valuable lessons. In 2015, the team placed 49th. In 2016, mechanical failures mounted as the tournament pressed on and the team left the San Diego Regional ranked at the bottom.
This year, a team dedicated to learning from its mistakes emerged. Led by design lead Walker Madsen and build lead Jacob Lerner, the team did the math as they designed, prototyped, and modified the robot’s design. The team’s 32 student members and nine adult mentors worked to make this a successful season.
As they built a robot, team vice president Anna Linburg led community outreach. A fanbase of local youth, parents, families, and PHHS staff grew because they were invited into the build space for the team to reveal their progress and share their growth and excitement. At the tournament, the fanbase was present. They were decked in green and shouting, “Go Patribots!”
The Patribots are organized into subsystem groups that work to complete the demanding tasks of the 2017 challenge. Team members work Monday through Friday into the evening and all day Saturday while balancing demanding courses like AP Physics and Calculus as they dedicate hours to design, build, and program the robot.
Members of the Patribots also work with local schools, Dailard Elementary and Pershing Middle School, to share robotics experiences that inspire interest in the application of math and science. This summer, team members will be providing robotics camps in the San Carlos area to inspire future Patribots to engage in STEM (science, technology, engineering, math).
Next up, the Patribots will represent PHHS at the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) Championships held April 19-22 in Houston, Texas. A field of 400 elite teams from over 40 nations will compete to take home the title of FRC champion.
In order to get to the competition, the team will need to raise $25,000 and are currently looking for additional corporate sponsors and donations. Patribots current sponsors include Qualcomm, Northrop Grumman, The National Defense Education Program, All Star Glass, Arrow Machine Industries, The PHHS Engineering Program, PHHS Foundation, and Natural Networks, Inc.
—Harold Mumford is Patribots coach, Adria Van Loan-Polselli is a Patrick Henry engineering teacher, and Carolina Alduenda is a proud parent of a Patribots team member.
