Yeosang was quick to hang up the phone once he ended his conversation with Jongho. His eyes were darting all over the bar trying his best to see if he could find the young woman he saw but alas she was gone. As if she was never there to begin with. Fuck, Fuck, Fuck. He swore to himself over again, racking his fingers through his washed-out green hair. He turned away for only a second, how could she have disappeared? He rubbed his jaw quickly letting out yet another huff before turning to head back towards his office but as he turned he slammed right into someone.
“Shit!” He swore this time aloud, seeing his button-up was covered in sweet liquor. Stupid fucking humans. Stupid, disgusting hu─
“I’m so sorry. I didn’t even see you. Oh my, I’m so clumsy.” Your voice was sweet, like silk. He hates himself for remembering how you sounded. Your eyes finally caught him, but he was frozen, just staring at you with his mouth slightly agape. You were just as beautiful as the day they all lost you.
“Uh… It’s..It’s fine.” He was so caught off guard. You clearly didn’t know him. There was no recollection in your gaze. Just a simple apologetic smile that humans give one another when they don’t know each other. Were you even you? Were you just some human that looked like you? No. You had the same voice. The same twinkle in your eye that Yeosang died to see every chance he got. And….
“Well, I’m still so sorry. Here, I’ll pay for your dry cleaning.” You were being so kind to him. Kind to a stranger. Without thinking Yeosang Grabbed your wrist before you could pull your wallet out. You flinched slightly from the sudden movement of the unknown male, but you didn’t shy away from it. His touch wasn’t sending off red flags like other males who tried to touch you. No, there was something almost deja-vu like with his rough hand gripping tightly. You couldn’t explain it but it felt like you’ve been in this situation with him before.
Yeosang blinked a few times quickly, trying to find something anything to say to do. Ask for your name maybe? No, he can’t do that now in this kind of situation. So he just smiled. “No Need Pet. It was an accident.”
He let go of you roughly, which he didn’t mean but his mind was too focused on getting away from you so he could breathe and recollect his scattered thoughts. He didn’t even get you a chance to say thank you before he was off, weaving through the crowd so he could get to one of his men so they could put out a scout for you. He needed to keep you close, keep tabs on you. Needing to know who exactly you are before he says anything else to the others. Last thing he needs is someone like Mingi, Wooyoung or San having hope you are alive.
You, on the other hand, stood there for a moment. Trying to take in exactly what happened. you felt a little odd like something was unfinished. His face looked at you with such sorrow and loss. Did you remind him of someone? And why did he call you pet?
- The Past -
Yeosang had left you to wander the grounds on your own, saying he needed to finish his work before retiring to bed. You wished him a good night before heading through the halls, not before asking him directions of course. Thankfully you were on the right track anyway and only needed to take two more rights before finally stumbling into the vast kitchen. No one was here, strange? But given the lords of the manor were not awake in the day, it should make sense. No one needed to prepare food or supply lunching or tea to anyone during these early hours of the morning.
You grabbed a drink for yourself, trying not to disturb whatever order the kitchen had seemed to be arranged in. The cool water felt heavenly down your horse throat. From the screams earlier because of Seonghwa and then the tinge of pain that is still lingering from Yeosang’s fangs. It was no wonder the liquid was healing for your vocals. A mirror was situated in the corner of the room just behind the door. Most likely so maids or servers could check their appearance before being presented in front of any high socialite they may be a guest here on occasions. You glanced over at your neck to see two harsh red punctures. The blood was cleaned and dried from Yeosang tending to your wounds, but there was still some speckles of dried blood on the hem of your sleepwear. You couldn’t understand why you felt nothing upon seeing the marks. No fear, no sense of uncomfortableness or pain. Just simply is. Like this was normal. Like it had been the most mundane thing in your abusive life.
You might be a little fucked up.
But who could blame you? Your parents were vial, your siblings were useless, and your soon-to-be was a pig. You were alone until they showed up. Until they swept you off your feet─literally─and stole you away into some fairy tale. that’s what it felt like. Like you had fallen down the rabbit hole into wonderland just like the books you’ve read had suggested. Would that make you Alice then? Maybe you’d be more of a mad hatter?
“I think you are more of the white rabbit. Soft, cute.” You jumped, turning around to see a gentle-looking but broad beefy man. Jongho… did he, did he just read my mind? “I sure did honey. You have quite a lot in there for such a young sweet thing hmm?”
“H-how….” All these questions started running through your head. How could he read your mind? Do all vampires have this ability? Have all of them been about to hear your thoughts since you got here? Jongho was suddenly in front of you, using his super-speed to cage you between the door and his warm body.
“Slow down with the questions, honey. To answer them. I’m the only one out of us that can read minds.” That made you sigh slightly in relief. “Vampires when turned or born, gain one ability. For example, I can read minds. Seonghwa can bend water. Yunho has healing abilities. And the list goes on.”
“What does Yeosang h-have…” You gulped, feeling Jongho's body so close to yours. His one hand is perfectly perched on your hip while the other lies spread against the door. You try not to make your mind wonder if he is going to bite you like the others. Or the way his lips would feel on you. Any part of you.
You notice a darkness swirl in his eyes, watching you intensely. “He should be the one to tell you…” he didn’t let you say anything else as his head dipped to your neck kissing along the wound Yeosang had left prior. His cold tongue glided over both puncture marks, tasting the little bit of dried leftover blood that had been left behind. “Your mind wanders so quickly doesn’t it honey?”
“What was it? About wanting to know if I’ll bite you. Or touch you? Maybe…” He snapped his head up, looking you straight in the eyes, like he was looking directly into your soul. Your heart was racing and you knew he could hear it. He could hear everything, from your jagged breath, shacking limbs and your sinful thoughts that you were so desperately trying to shoo away. “You wanna know how good I could fuck you? Hmm, who knew our sweet little rabbit was so naughty.”
“T-that’s not true.” You knew lying was not the best thing to do considering he can literally read your fucking mind. But you had no idea what else to say. He just chuckled, clicking his tongue lightly before closing the gap between you, making your bodies flush against one another. His nose rubbed along your neck inhaling generously. You smelt amazing to him. Like lilacs and summer rain showers. Or how a forest smells fresh and light in the early hours of dawn. He could just have you in his arms, inhaling your scent for hours and would never grow tired. He wouldn’t admit it, nor would he linger too deep in your mind either for the same reason. That he was definitely falling in love with you. Unlike his friends, he was a romantic. A dirty, filthy, romantic. And he wanted to do everything and anything to you, for you, with you. Anything for you to call him, yours.
“Such a sweet little white rabbit. So kind, even though the world has been nothing but hardship for you.” His words made a lump form in your throat, not thinking if this vampire could indeed read minds, he was not only able to see your dirty fantasies but your dark past too. Your pain. The memories you wish more than anything to erase. You didn’t want to life you were given, always praying for a new start. Or a quick death. Whichever came first you didn’t mind. But maybe now you could have that new start. One filled with love, devotion, and gratitude. Like the relationships in the stories you’ve read. One were you could feel equal even though they were all beasts. They were more human than the humans you already knew. “Let’s get you back to bed hmm?”
Jongho’s words sounded more like a question but you knew he meant it in more of a statement. Wanting you to not grow tired from the crazy event you had only hours been through. “I don’t think I could sleep even if I tried.”
“Why?” He didn’t mean to bluntly ask but he was worried. Sure he could just read your mind and find out. But he wanted to hear the emotion behind the words. He needed you to say it aloud.
“Last night…” You took a breath, relaxing a little into Jongho’s hold, as he kept you firmly between the door and his body. “It was not the first time I’d seen blood. Or death. To be fair. For a moment. I thought I was going to die tonight. And I wasn’t afraid.” You hiccuped feeling a tear break from your left eye. “I wasn’t scared of death. In fact, I was ready to welcome it. And it made me realise how much I’ve lived in a loop of pain. Waiting for something to either kill me or help me.”
It was Jongho’s turn to take a deep breath, rubbing his thumb into your hip, trying to comfort you as you spoke. “I’m glad you all came to save me. Even though this might seem crazy. And I have only known you all for less than a day. I have felt more at home here than I have my entire life. So t-thank you.”
Jongho’s undead heart broke at your little sob. You were so young and yet you had been through so much. He knew then and there he was going to protect you, shield you. Even if it meant getting himself injured or killed. He dropped his hand from the wall so he could cup your face. Your glossy, watery eyes stared up at him with so much agony. He sighed. “I won’t let anyone hurt you again. Okay, Honey. You are safe with us. You might not understand this yet but we… We have cared about you for a while.”
He wasn’t about to pour out all the confessions of you being their mate. And how they are all mated to one another and you were their missing piece. That was for another day. For now. All you needed was reassurance. A kind hand to hold. a broad chest to hug. “Come on now. Let’s actually get you back to bed now.”
He walked you back to your room where a lightly snoring Seonghwa was. You thanked Jongho again and he said ‘There is no need to thank me’ but yet you still said it again. Gave you one last smile before kissing your forehead with such gentleness. Softness like nothing you’ve ever felt. He was gone before you could even whisper out a goodnight.

Summary: Of course, they loved each other. He was obsessed with her. She, with him to some extent, but to recognise each other outside the four walls of their comfort was a 'no-no'. Perhaps because as much as they loved each other, who knew being academic rivals would be so problematic.

"I'm so glad we're done with exams." He sighed, sitting down and rolling his shoudlers, before rubbing his neck and eying the food, then deciding to order another round.
"Mhmm... I was so glad to close all the tabs today. My laptop practically thanked me." Smiling, she leaned forward on her elbows, "Is this why we're having an expensive meal?"
Her words held no real malice, but an air of unease, she never liked how he'd casually spend like this, especially on her, she had done nothing to deserve this, and the constant reminder of how he'd always pay whenever it was pricey would nip at her self pride.
He paused to look at her before pouting, "No, I just wanted to treat my girl." Mumbling he moved the tray towards her, gesturing for her to start first, trying to ignore her lingering gaze, the eerie nostalgia setting in, he knew what she'd get like during exam season, extremely cynical and skeptical, to be honest he was no different- but they were finally free and perhaps he just wanted to enjoy a nice meal with her, no hidden intentions or ulterior motives, nothing to think about but each other.
"Then let's go dutch-"
"Not a chance." His abrupt words cut her off, for a split second his tone reverted back to the one she was used to, the tone he'd use back in the day, to snub her or out do her while answering, this tone was often accompanied by a scoff, the only gesture that would mildly indicate that this was but a fun little game, though she knew when the tone was all that would surface, he'd be serious, in no mood for negotiation. Fortunately,  he had barely ever used it with her, often in times of forcing her to do something good for herself, like to rest or to eat, but she'd seen him use the same tone with a few people, who were once her friends, he didn't know she was there, standing behind the wall, listening to him call out her so called friends, people who'd just use her for her work, leeching off her academics, knowing she'd be too tired to even argue or say no, or even too guilty when one of them would bring up how smart she was and that made her arrogant- she heard him that day, the crisp morning air wasn't as cold as his words,
"Your incompetence is a curse you should bear on your own. Don't drag others down in that pitiful hole of yours, especially her."
That day she had lost an entire circle of friends, at a point she wondered if it was even worth it, wondered why he even said that when a class ago he had called her 'a silly little girl' for arguing about what a Freudian slip was when she was clearly wrong, now here he was defending her honour? On the same day he had come to her, sitting next to her in the library and slipping her a coupon, initially she had thought he was insulting her- a typical bourgeoisie move, only to realise it was a coupon for a couple's meal, noticing him side eying her to read her expressions. She had turned to him, pointing at the coupon, herself and then him, and as wordlessly as she had spoken, he too nodded, pointing at himself, her and then the coupon. Something had begun to blossom between the two that day, a relationship both were too afraid to talk about, perhaps because of their on going rivalry since the beginning of their academic year, or the way they'd ignore each other until one would bother the other, or perhaps the fear of being questioned by the lingering gazes around the hallways,  the whispers the wind carried around the campus- wanting not to be part of the gust of wind, choosing to keep whatever this was hidden, a secret shared by just the two.
"I mean...I'd prefer you don't, I wanted to treat you," his argument coming out softer, as he nodded to the waiter who had entered the private section after knocking, to place another tray in front of them, "Just us and a nice meal...I haven't spent enough time with you....that's why." Clearing his throat , he avoided the way she studied him, eyes scanning each feature, every gesture, every breath he'd take, to be able to study his next more, to prepare herself. Truth be told he hated it when she'd do that, this was the first thing that irked him about her, and although he had always been gentle natured, this trait of hers would always have his ulterior ego surface, ready to claw her. It took him some time to realise that was just the face she'd make while thinking, not only at him but everyone, including her exam sheet. That did not mean that being together made it any easy for him, in fact, now he'd feel small when she'd look at him like that, he'd feel as if his sincerity was being questioned, it made him dislike himself, was he not clear enough? Was the choice of words not point to point? Maybe his tone was ooff-
"Oh...well you're right, I guess I am to blame for that, I kind of mentally blocked you out." Mumbling sheepishly she reached across the table to hold his hand, her the tips of her fingers caressing the back of his hand, noting how he visibly relaxed, "In my defense there's this annoying guy in class who thinks he's so smart-"
"Thinks?" With a scoff he laced their fingers together, leaning closer to the table to eye her, his frown morphing into his signature dimpled smile at the sound of her laughter, before he continued, adding onto the playful banter, "Last time I checked this guy beat you in the Moral Philosophy 101 quiz and assignment."
Shrugging in response she grabbed the chopsticks with her free hand, "Beginners luck. Also consequentialism sucks, you're just a utilitarian at heart, that's why you got lucky." With that verdict she began eating, earning a cackle in return, the atmosphere around them calming down once more, allowing her to relax, much to his pleasure. He had begged her to go out with him last week too, claiming that they were left with just one exam so they could relax a bit, though she had threatened to block him if he kept pestering her, which is why he had stopped spam texting her.
However, finally tonight, now that they were free he had earned the right to become her Sannie again, to roll around on her bed, messing with the sheets while she would be scrolling on her phone trying to ignore how his antics were toppling off her plushies to the floor. He'd be able to whine and complain when she'd wake him up early because the 'cafeteria is serving Yaki Udon',
"Go, they let you sneak some to your dorm, sneak some here"
"It's...6 am...let's just eat something else."
"If I had the rich boy privellage,  I'd go myself, but alas-"
"Are you really guilt tripping me for being rich?"
"No, my sweet nepo-baby I'm stating a mere fact."
"A nepo-baby would be a business major like his father, not a communication major-"
"And that's why you're my favourite boy, Sannie."
That day he got her four bowls of udon, even sneaking in the dessert Wooyoung had gotten for himself, and when asked he told Wooyoung he had eaten it, never mentioning her.
That was another issue, he had to keep his relationship a secret from his friends too, initially it was fun, the thrill and excitement would have him shivering with glee, but recently, after most of his friends now had a significant other whom they would publicly walk around with or show affection to, he had begun to wonder if she'd ever want that with him. Or were they just college sweethearts, soon to be forgotten, a bitter sweet memory plastered at the back of their minds, one to return to when times would get rough.
"What's wrong?"
Her question cutting off his thought process only for him to realise how he had just been staring at his food, while she was half way done. Clearing his throat he gave her a gentle smile, shaking his head before reaching for the soda, pouring both of them a glass. Maybe some other time, he'd ask her some other time, right now he could see how she was enjoying herself, he could see how comfortable she was with him, he had no real intentions of ruining the moment.
"Are you sure? You're making the same face you did, when you had to present last semester." Just like that he had lost all the love he had for her, no, he was dating a monster, a demon in the skin of an angel, the human embodiment of Godzilla. Eyes narrowing at her direction he scoffed, leaning back to take off his jacket, before responding with a taunt, "Says the person who forgot the meaning of utility while presenting".
With a gasp she placed her hand on her heart,  staring at him in faux shock, "You fiend, that's because I'm a Kant girlie at heart."
"So...you don't think the ends justify the means?" He asked cautiously, though not of her feelings, but of the risk of his own fragile heart, too afraid to let it slip out of her grasp and shatter.
"The ends, never justify the means, Sannie."  She smiled, staring at him only for it to drop when she noticed him frown at his plate, slowly nodding as he looked up at her, "Yeah...I guess..."
"What's...wrong, something has been bothering you since we came here." She sighed pushing her plate aside, watching him take out his buzzing phone, choosing to stare at the phone rather than him.
"Nothing."
His blunt response nipping at her insecurities, what did she do? Should she not have said that? Did she offend him? Was he going to leave her now? They were in their final year anyway, the time spent together was supposed to come to an end and as much as she wanted to cling onto the false hope of him somehow spending the rest of his life together with her, she knew that was but a wish, reality was far too bitter, far too grim, leaving the two to wonder when they'd become a distant memory.
"Okay."
There it was, his eyes flickered up to scan her face, that defeated look she'd hold when she'd give up, why would she never fight for him? Why didn't she pester him to finish his statement, why didn't she cling onto him, pulling him closer even though he knew he'd run to her at any given moment, he was only waiting for the signal, waiting for her to say the word. Maybe Wooyoung was right, this was just a fun arrangement for the two, a temporary one, which is why Hongjoong had asked him to confront her, but he didn't want to, yet, here he was by choosing to not confront her he had somehow made it worse.
Visibly flinching under his glare she averted her gaze, clearing her throat, playing with her fingers as she stared at her lap aimlessly, so what now?
"What about us?" His words a gentle whisper as he put his phone on the table beside his plate, hunching forward to get a better look at her face, "Does our end justify our means?"
Her head snapped up in his direction, the burning sensation of the flood of tears at the brink of falling, she could feel the fat droplets clinging to her lower lashes, chewing on her lower lip as she tried to compose herself, "Which end...Sannie, the one where we say goodbye?"
His frown only deepened at her question, taking in her shaking form, pinching himself as he tried ro remain rooted to his spot. Seonghwa had told him to listen to her, to comfort and console her because women need time to process and cope, especially someone like her, but then Hongjoong's persistent 'What if she really is with you for the ride',  kept bothering him, what if he were right, but at the back of his mind, this little voice was yelling at him, telling him how that was not true, how he'd seen her take care of him, how he'd felt her love for him; from when she'd slip in her extra notes in his bag for him to study to when she'd slip in a few packets of mint oreo in his bag as a treat. He knew they were more than just a fling, or at least he would like to believe that.
"Do you ... want us to?" His words as soft as the first time he had confessed to her, making her feel even more nauseous than before, though with a gulp she held it back before shaking her head and mumbling a, "No...do you?"
Shaking his head, much like her he sighed before staring aimlessly at her, "Then...why won't you fight for me?" This was less of a question, but more of a whine, a plea, one that had her finally snap.
Her sniff having him focus on her, watching her bring up her hands to cover her face, as she hunched over, making sure he couldn't see her cry, a trait that bothered him, he'd barely ever see her breakdown, even during the stressful exam season, she'd lock herself in the washroom and let it out, while he'd either wait outside the washroom (if he was lucky enough for her to let him into her dormroom) or like most exam seasons he'd be at his own dorm, trying to call her or text her.
"Why can't our end be happy?" He mumbled, finally choosing to get up and  walk around the table and to her, glad he had reserved a closed off private section. Sighing he reached for her, gently gripping her wrists as he pulled her hands off her face, ignoring her whines and protest, "Tell me, why do you think we can't have a happy end?" Pulling her up to wrap his arms around her, letting her fist his shirt, soaking it with her tears, sobbing out a, "Because our means of doing so aren't good."
Pulling her back he stared at her, gripping her shoulders, "What do you mean? Do you not want to keep it a secret anymore?"
"I never wanted to keep it a secret, at least I dont want to anymore." She mumbled trying to hide in his embrace once more but he pulled her back again, much to her disappointment as he tried to read her, "I just thought...your image and...I...maybe you didn't want to tell anyone."
By now he had sat her back down leaning against the table as he looked at her, holding onto her hand, his thumbs caressing the back of her hand, listening to her, raising his eyebrows, "No..." he sighed before gently smiling at her, "I've been dropping hints for a while now. My last hint was what led the guys to pick up on the fact that we are together."
So his friends knew?
"Do they think I'm weird?" She whispered, trying to pull away her hand but he held onto her tighter, shaking his head and letting out a laugh, "If anything they thought I tricked you into dating me...Wooyoung didn't even believe me until he saw our pictures." He smiled at her, the memory of his friends accusing him for lying, making it even funnier, "Yeosang said he could tell you're into dumb guys."
"Well, you are dumb. There's no doubt about that." She mumbled, standing up and moving closer, so she was standing between his legs. Cupping his face, she smiled when he glared at her. The eerie sensation that was once slithering in her veins long gone, "I don't remember a single hint, though."
"How?" He whined, pouting at her, leaning into her touch, closing his eyes as he basked in the attention,  the same attention he knew he would recieve publically from now on, there would be nothing holding them back, not her toxic friends, those who stared or whispered, in fact his friends would just support them, perhaps she needed such a support system too, would be good for her, "Yesterday after the exam I called you out, I said see you tomorrow babe."
"Thought that was a Freudian slip."
"Oh, so now you know what a Freudian slip is?" His eyes snapped open, brows furrowing at her smug expression, hissing when she squeezed his cheeks together, only to pull back when he wrapped his arms around her, squeezing her tight until she was wheezing out apologies. Giving him a proper hug once he eased down on her, she sighed, pressing her forehead against his,"I really do like you, Sannie."
"I like you too." He smiled, feeling her brush her lips against his, whispering against her lips, only his next statement had him feeling her stiffen and possibly struggle against him but he held her tight, not wanting to be smacked, "They updated the marksheet, I scored higher than you in Moral Philosophy....again...sorry babe." Followed by his boisterous laughter and her whining to let him go, greatly ruining the moment.

“Hey, it’s Bradley”
Fandom: Top Gun, Top Gun: Maverick

A/N: it’s my first time actually posting my writing on here so pls be nice! Also, feel free to mention anything we need to fix grammatically. Proofreader and coauthor is @lunamoon1744
Tumblr media
“Hey, uh, it's Ro-Bradley. It's Bradley. Fuck it’s probably late where you’re at. Sorry, I just, fuck, look, I’m sorry. So fucking sorry. I loved you, love you, still love you and I know this is a shitty way to go about it but there’s a mission and I don’t know whether I'm going to make it back, but I was back at Top Gun for a few weeks, and God, all I could think about was us, you, and how much I love you and how much I fucked you over and I’m sorry. God I'm so fucking sorry an’ I’m not asking you to forgive me but I can't die without apologizing, without letting you know that leaving you was the worst decision of my life and if I could go back I’d-, fuck I’m running out of time, I just, I love you so fucking much and I, I gotta go, fuck, I’m sorry, I love you.”
Bradley Bradshaw. Rooster. God, you loved him, and he had broken your heart. It’d been a few years since the breakup, and honestly you're surprised he still knows your number. Lord knows you had to look back into your contacts to figure out whether he called you through his phone, or someone else's. It was probably the ship's phone, seeing as you still had his cell number in your contacts.
It probably doesn't matter by now. If he went on the mission right after he called you, that would have been 15 hours, 48 minutes, and approximately 56 seconds ago. You begin pacing back and forth across the house. If he was going to die, he’d already be dead, and if he was going to live, he’d already be back on the carrier. Plus, there was no guarantee he was even going back to Top Gun, he could be going straight to his next assignment. You stop dead in your tracks. He could be dead.
Then again, that was the problem wasn't it? It didn't really matter, you would go to the ends of the Earth if he had asked you to, if he had so much as implied that he needed or wanted you to. Maybe that's why you had already finished packing, bag already by the door, heart already knowing what your head was trying to figure out.
Leaning over the kitchen island, you pull out your laptop and start looking for any possible flights to anywhere even remotely close to San Diego and Top Gun. A few hours that pass over your nerves like shitty tap dancers, about 50 tabs, and a coffee or three later you finally come across a flight. It's expensive, significantly more than you would ever pay normally, and through an airline you've never used before. It's also leaving in an hour from an airport 49 minutes away. Taking a deep breath, you say fuck it and start typing your credit card numbers in, because you are tired and desperate and you just need to be there in case he did come back.
God, you hope he's alive.
It was a seven and a half hour flight and a two hour drive, having booked the first flight you found to anywhere close by. You had a bit of a drive to get to Top Gun, but you honestly can’t remember much of your trip. How can you? For all you know, you're doing all of this for a funeral that you're not even sure you would be invited to.
You're not completely sure how you ended up in front of the Hard Deck. Well, that's a lie. You know damn well why you stopped here before trying to find a hotel. It's an aviator's bar. It's where the aviators go after work. You’d been here with him the first time around. When you were dating. When you thought you were going to marry him.
It's stupid, and emotional, and childish to stop. It’s been a little less than two days since he made the phone call, and if he is alive he'd still be on the ship, or in a hospital somewhere. That didn't stop you from walking in, from looking around, from ordering a drink, from sitting down and waiting on some distant hope that he'd pop through the door. You haven't actually figured out what you're going to do when you see him again. But fuck if that didn't mean you still wanted to see him.
It was another three days of watching and waiting, of sitting at the bar with Penny, of wondering whether or not the last actual conversation you will ever have with the love of your life was when you broke up, when he told you he never loved you.
It's your fifth day in San Diego, when you see his Bronco in the Hard Deck parking lot. You know that fucking car anywhere and you know for a fact that if it was here then Bradley ‘Rooster’ Bradshaw was alive. Which means he could have damn well called you and informed you of such!
Taking a deep breath, as to not preemptively jump to conclusions, and to not kill the first person that looks at you wrong, you hurry up and force your way through the Hard Deck’s doors, making a scan for tall, brunette, and mustached.
It's not hard to find him. He is standing by a handful of other pilots and Penny. She's under who you assume is the pilot named Pete’s arm, looking very amused by your entrance. Bradshaw, on the other hand, is laughing lazily with his friends, like you hadn't thought he might be dead for the better part of the week.
“BRADLEY FUCKING BRADSHAW!”
The sound of pool balls clinking stops almost immediately, and you hear whispers arising from some of the pilots scattered around the bar. The man of the week looks in your direction, and while his eyes light up, his face falls as you start marching across the floor towards him. “...y/n?”
You feel multiple eyes on you as you stomp across the bar, and out of the corner of your eye you can also see a few heads turn. “What in the ever loving fuck is wrong with you? The fuck was that phone call?” You come to a stop right in front of him, jabbing your finger into his chest. “Have you been landing too hard it’s starting to fuck with your head?” there's a snort on your right, coming from some Ken-doll-looking motherfucker. “Because that shit-”
“Y/n?”
“Is not okay! At all! You don't call someone, and tell them you love them, and that your sorry, and then just fucking disappear! Honestly! Give me one good fucking reason I shouldn't hit you upside your head, I swear to god-”
He interrupts you by pulling you into a tight hug and holding you against him, and you use every ounce of self control to not hug him back. He leans slightly back, looking into your eyes, and opening his mouth to speak.
“You came?” …you came? YOU CAME? What in the ever loving fuck did he think you were going to do after he called, go to brunch and have some fucking mimosas? Chill at the beach? Not lose your absolute goddamn mind?
“OF COURSE I FUCKING CAME!” You struggle in his arms before giving up and grabbing his shoulders in order to pull him down a bit so your eye level. “We may not have left on the best of terms, but I still fucking love you! Honestly, you could have called me at any point and I would have shown up because that's what you do when you love someone! And maybe that wouldn’t be my best discission but, fuck, I've never had a doubt that you would-”
“You still love me?” Maybe it was the way he said it, sounding like he was going to cry, or the way he looked like he was in complete shock over the fact that you still love him, even though he’s the one who walked away, but it makes your anger fade from the loud and explosive kind to the tired and worried one.
“Jesus fucking son of a fuck I swear to-” deep breaths, homicide is illegal and there’s witnesses, lots of witnesses, because almost everyone in the bar has turned to stare, nosey fucks. “-Yes. I love you, I loved you when we were dating, I loved you when we broke up, and I love you now, but, if you say one. More. Stupid. Fucking. Thing. I'm going to drown you in the ocean-” and it's true. You do love him. But it's also true that if he doesn't stop interrupting you, you are going to try and throw him in the ocean. It wouldn't work, you've tried it before, but it would make you feel better.
He smiles like a dumbass, eyes lighting up like a Christmas tree. He puts his hand on your cheek, leaning down and pressing your foreheads together. “I love you too.”
“Yeah, I’m aware, but I swear to god if you interupt me one more fucking time-” which, he of course decides to do by kissing you. Which, not to say that you are complaining, but it's hard to stay mad when he's kissing you like it's all he's ever thought about. Putting both of your hands on his chest, you lightly push him away. “-we’re not in a movie. Kissing me’s not gonna get me to shut up-”
“What if I kiss you multiple times?” And isn't that a tempting offer? But, as much as you love him, that phone call was the worst possible way of getting in contact with you again.
You narrow your eyes, the corners of your mouth twitching ever so slightly up. “You can kiss me everyday for the rest of our lives, but it’s still not gonna stop me from thinking you're an idiot and calling you on it.”
“Promise?”
You can't help but to shake your head and smile. “Goddammit Bradley, I'm trying to be mad at you, you inconsiderate asshole. Yes, yes I promise, for as long as your dumbass wants to keep me-”
“Forever then.” And there it was, that stupid fucking smile that you loved. The one that made you stop yelling, at least for the moment, because he was alive, and he loved you, and he wasn't going to walk away this time. Sighing as you lean into him, the exhaustion of the week finally starts to catch up with you, but at least you know that he's safe.

Dazai Osamu x GN!reader
Tags— dark era dazai, he's a little mean but what can ya do, regular dazai suicidal antics (help him), killer hangover (sort of), bullying him into being cared for seems to be a theme amongst the ppl in his life (looking at you, kunikida)
CW/TW— drinking, underage drinking, mentions of vomiting, dehydration, suicidal themes
please keep yourself safe.
note — i ended up modeling what reader is to this dazai as something similar to what higuchi is to akutagawa. not exactly, of course, since all four of these characters are complex and very much different but the premise was...inspired, i think. it's interesting. dazai is interesting!

The walk up to the roof is familiar. The stairway is damp, and the stairs creak under your feet; the building is one of the older ones left in the city and, therefore, made of wood instead of the metal you were used to seeing.
You open the door to the roof, biting the inside of your cheek as you step out into the open and let it shut behind you. The soft night wind bites at your face in greeting as soon as you are entirely on the roof. Your eyes dart to the right, and you find what you’re looking for in the exact place it always is.
“Are you done now, Dazai-san?” You ask, approaching the man. He’s sat on the ledge of the building. Despite seeing him in this position more times than you could count, unease still seeps into your stomach and pools at the bottom. You stop just beside him, and without thinking much of it, you do the math to make sure you’d be able to catch him if anything happened.
You shuffle a foot closer. He doesn’t look at you when he speaks.
“Yes.” Dazai’s response is clipped, but he takes a deep and visible breath before speaking. You know immediately he’s had too much to drink.
“Are you here alone?” You ask, despite knowing that Oda-san and Ango-san wouldn’t have let Dazai up, and Dazai wouldn’t have been on the roof if Oda-san and Ango-san were with him.
“None of your business.” He huffs, almost clumsy, as he swings his gangly legs back toward the roof and stands slower than usual. You frowned but kept your hands to yourself, knowing he wouldn’t appreciate a steadying hand. You turn first, keeping track of his footsteps that sound quietly just after yours. You hold the door to the stairwell open for him, and Dazai passes you without the slightest acknowledgment.
He heads out of the building without another word, and instead of following his steps back to his…room, you quickly round the corner and head down the steps to bar Lupin. Two steps at a time, your breath comes out in cloudy puffs due to the cold. The bar door creaks ever so slightly as you open it, and the man at the bar gives you a strained smile when he sees you.
“Got him?” He asks, putting down the glass he’d been drying. You nod, sighing lightly.
“Could I have some of those bread rolls you sell? Put them on Dazai-san’s tab, please. I’ll be back to pay it off later in the week anyway.” You say, leaning on the bar. He smiles gently at you and packs the little rolls into a box for you to take. He hands them over and tilts his head toward the door.
“Now get going. It’s too damn cold and late for you kids to be out.” He shoos you away, and you hurry back into the winter air again.
Fortunately, Dazai has slumped against a building wall not too far away. A flickering streetlight shines above him, keeping his form visible to you despite the layers of black he insists on wearing.
You walk to him quickly, and as you near, he straightens and doesn’t bother to look your way. You do him a favor and pretend he hadn’t been slack-jawed a second ago, half coherent and entirely too relaxed in public.
You fumble the take-out box open and hand him one of the rolls, ignoring the hazy way his eyes roll over your entire form as he takes it. A Dazai this plastered doesn’t have much of the subtly everyone might expect from him.
“These are cold.” He huffed, demolishing half of the roll in one bite. You smile tightly at him.
“Unfortunately, they’re not kept fresh for 18 hours, Dazai-san. We’re lucky Lupin had any leftovers at all.” You sigh. Dazai busies himself with the rest of the roll in his hands, so you don’t get much of a response.
The walk to the shipping yard isn’t too eventful. Fellow drunks and the shady people that populate Yokohama’s streets at night become less and less as they tread deeper into Port Mafia territory. For all the fear that the PM no doubt instilled into Yokohama’s citizens, they weren’t the type to break promises. Shop owners paid their protection fee monthly, and they were dutifully kept from any damage caused by the (admittedly desperate and exaggeratedly large population caused by the Port Mafia) local criminals.
Despite his inebriated state, Dazai’s unsteady feet lead him toward the container he calls home- which you’re grateful for since you couldn’t ever remember which was his in the sea of containers the Mafia had come in and out of the shipping yard.
You watch him fumble with the latches, managing only to flip those over. Dazai had never been the strongest, so when he goes to pull on the handles and pop the container open, he stumbles backward and just barely manages to not fall flat on his ass.
“Um.” He slurs, blinking at his hands. They must have let go without him trying to. You bite back a laugh and pull the handles, only slightly staggering with the weight of the door once it pops open.
Dazai huffs softly and heads in, leaving you to close the door behind you by a cable he had fashioned to the door. You secure the door and turn to flick the lamp in the corner on, illuminating the space in a warm glow. The lamp was an addition you insisted on. Eventually, Dazai allowed you to drag in the thing (along with a semi-quiet-enough generator to keep it running). You had a feeling it was only ever turned on when you were in here.
Dazai had collapsed onto his mattress, worryingly quiet and face down. You put the container with the rolls down near the makeshift bed and gently roll him over, making sure he settled on his side to avoid choking on his own vomit in the night. His face is startlingly blank when you can see it again, and he eyes you with contempt.
“I didn’t say you could touch me.” He says lightly, though you know better than to think he wasn’t bothered.
“Sorry, Dazai-san. You wouldn’t enjoy dying in a pool of your own vomit, I think.” You answer lowly, slowly reaching for a bottle of water that had clearly rolled away one night and hadn’t been picked up since.
He gives you that same withering look and brings a hand up to rest over his eyes. You imagine the headache he’s sporting must be killer- Dazai was not one to be nice to himself, especially not with something so destructive as drinking.
You gesture for him to take the bottle in your hands, shaking it lightly as if he were a toddler who needed the visual cue. He huffs and takes it.
“You should leave.” He mutters, haphazardly bringing the bottle’s opening to his mouth and drinking messily. You ignore the way some of the water overwhelms him and dribbles down the side of his mouth.
“I should, but it wouldn’t do to have you die by choking. Even asleep, I hear it’s a horrible way to die.” You hum, finally shifting into a comfortable sitting position next to the mattress.
A sober Dazai might’ve stared you down until you left, and a particularly pissy one would’ve shoved you out himself.
As he was, he grumbled and let the bottle fall back into your waiting hands and promptly went to sleep, sagging like a corpse into the bed. You place the bottle next to you and sigh as quietly as possible- Dazai could be one hell of a light sleeper.
His breathing deepens quickly, and it’s startlingly quiet despite his inebriation. Dazai was always like this, somehow- walking the line between alive and dead. He was your superior by multiple clearance levels, sure, but not much older than you and not all that physically impressive. His strength was in his demeanor, of course- in his sharp tongue and quick-witted mind.
He was still young, though, and despite being a bit younger than him you were always a little taken aback by how other members treated him when his face was still round and soft like a child’s. The only people who really treated him like a kid you could count on one hand, and one of them was his age.
You’d keep these thoughts to yourself, of course. You’d seen people get shot for much less let alone question their superiors power.
The lamp flickered in the corner. The yellow light made him look sickly. The floor of the crate was rigged and unforgiving, but you preferred to stay where you were. In case Dazai needed anything.
And if it meant you got to settle the tightness in your chest by watching his own move steadily throughout the night, then no one else would have to know.

Praise
This is dedicated to the fantastic, incomparable @gretavanlace
3 things: I am very very bad at using Tumblr on desktop, you will have to forgive me for the kinks until I get this figured out. 2. THIS IS NOT PROOFREAD. I told Lace it would be out tonight and I’m trying to make good on my promise. 3. I have like 7 other things up my sleeves with the other boys so please please please let me know if you enjoy this. Ok, I love ya, enjoy!
Warnings: SMIUT (18+, minors DNI), unprotected sex, (wrap it before you tap it), nipple play (very briefly) cunninlingus. (I feel I'm missing a few things cause I forgot what wrote already, but it’s dirty, so mind ya eyes)
“All I’m saying is if you throw her over your shoulder and take her upstairs, she’ll do whatever you want her to do,” Sam grabs the beer to tip it up to his mouth as Danny grabs it to put it back down.
“Think you’ve had enough, kid.”
Sam immediately turns to you and Jake to pout, “Jake, tell him give it back.” Jake chuckles lowly at his little brother, slurring his words and pitching a fit like a 2 year old.
“No, no, little brother, I think Danny may have a point.” Jake grabs the glass from in front of him and pushes it towards you, just far enough out of Sam’s reach.
Sam slumps his shoulders and leans back into the booth. Danny turns to him and chuckles slightly, “We have to go anyways, dumbass over here broke one of the brand new bass amps and his punishment tomorrow is getting up bright and early to fix it.” Sam tries to protest, saying he’s fine and can go another round or two, but the alcohol has settled quickly, his eyes drooping as he hiccups.
Danny rolls his eyes as he settles back on you and Jake, “You need to start paying me to take care of him or I’ll make Josh do it from now on.”
Jake groans, “no, I’ll cough up the money as long as I don’t have to hear Josh bitch and moan about how San cockblocks him constantly.”
“I am not a cockblock,” Sam mumbles out, half asleep and somehow still coherent. Jake and Danny laugh out loud, knowing all too well that this was untrue. They’ve all fallen victim to Sam’s drunk antics more than enough times to know cockblocking was one of the things Sam truly excelled at.
Danny grabs the younger boy by the arm, pulling him out of the booth and hoisting him up on his shoulder, “We’ll see you in the morning, Jake. Take care, love.”
You and Jake had not been dating long, meeting at the end of the Dreams in Gold tour when he was running out of a small guitar shop, knocking straight into you and spilling your coffee. Ever the gentleman he was, he immediately took you to the nearest store to buy you another outfit and another coffee on which he wrote down his phone number on the brown coffee sleeve.
Coming to Nashville had been a surreal experience for you, never one to just take a three week vacation from your job to travel, especially for any kind of partner and especially not one that you’ve only been seeing for a couple of months. But Jake was adamant, he wanted you to meet Danny and his brothers before they dove straight back into touring.
“I’m gonna close out the tab, little love.” he pecks your nose as he climbs out of the booth. You smile fondly at him as you grab your purse and phone, waiting for him to return from the crowded bar. When he comes back, he holds out his hand, intertwining his fingers with yours.
Piling out onto the streets of Nashville, he holds your hand thumb rubbing over yours every so often. His hands calloused and warm from playing the guitar, sets a fire alight inside your belly. It’s not that you didn’t wanna have sex. You definitely did, it’s really that you never had time. Jake immediately got off tour and started promoting another album, being thrust into the world of his job and you, well, you were not going to push it.
“Baby doll, what are you thinking about?’ He squeezes your hand, bringing it up to his lips to kiss it.
“Me? Oh, nothing important. Just admiring the chaos of the city.” He smiles warmly at you, “I ordered the Uber down a couple of blocks, it’s just easier for them to be on the outskirts of downtown.” You hum and nestle into his side as you walk peacefully down the sidewalk, your moment of peace amongst all the hustle and bustle in a busy Nashville.
When you get into the Uber, you sit peacefully for 30 seconds, looking to Jake. “What’s up, my little love?” You don’t respond, choosing instead to kiss him. Jake groans into the kiss, quietly, as he tries not to alert the Uber driver, “we’re five miles away from the apartment, baby doll, don’t start something you can’t finish.”
“Who said I can’t finish?” You can’t see him, but you know without a doubt, his eyes have darkened and you notice a slight twitch in his jaw as it clenches. “My pretty little love…who’d have known you were such a bad girl?” His hands smooth up your thigh, slipping under the dress you put on for him and him alone. The Uber jolts to a stop and he slips the driver a $100 bill, mostly for an extra tip and partly as a thank you for not saying anything to the two of you for being sort of disrespectful. The walk to the elevator feels excruciatingly long. His hand rests on your back as he pushes you into the elevator, attacking you with lips on your neck and rutting his cock against your thigh. “You’re gonna be a good girl for me tonight, right? Gonna let me spoil you rotten?”
Your eyes roll back at his words, moaning out softly as he nibbles at your neck.
“My pretty girl…like a little praise, don’t ya?” You nod, panting. It feels a little overwhelming. He smells like whiskey and tobacco and that teakwood smell that you’ve come to know and love. “Jake,” you whimper out as his fingers come up to rub your clit over your panties. “I know, baby doll, I’ve got you. Don’t be loud in the hallway, princess.” He demands as he lets you go as the elevator doors open.
Your legs feel like jelly as you walk slowly out of the elevator, making your way down the hall to his apartment, a place you’ve been to hundreds of times before, but never like this, never for this moment. He comes up behind you, pressing himself into you as he unlocks the door and throws it open. “In,” he growls in your ear, your eyes widening, not in fear, but in excitement. He closes the door and sets his keys down, “go get on the bed, I’ll be right there, little love.” His voice is soft and calm. You journey back to his bedroom, his guitar propped up next to his nightstand, the lamp in the corner lighting up the room softly. You make a bold move and strip, leaving yourself in the panties and bra you bought for him, red like the color of his beloved Les Paul, wanting his thoughts on stage to be of you every night. As you lay down on the bed, you feel your nipples harden in your bra, suddenly feeling uncomfortable on your skin, squirming.
“Love…” you hear a whisper from the doorway, “what?”
You look to him, beautifully sculpted, his soft tummy, his beautiful thighs, his cock straining against the tight gray boxers.
“What are you so worked up for?” He comes over and hovers over you, making you feel small and protected, you giggle nervously. He shines a big smile at you. “Come on then, let’s have them off,” shaking you off any nerves by showing out with his British accent.
He runs his hand down your chest and grazes over one of the nipples as he pops the fastener on your bra, letting you take it off slowly, revealing your breasts to him. He groans out, “holy shit, baby doll, had I known they were fucking perfect, I would’ve done this a long time ago.” He dives his head down and laps at one of the nipples making you gasp out, lightly sucking and nibbling at it, your hips bucking up to chase any kind of friction as he plays with your nipples.
He moves slowly down your body, licking, sucking, being tortuous, “Jake…’
“Doll…” He speaks back, low as he removes your panties, “Jesus fucking Christ.” He licks at your slit, moving up to catch your clit on his tongue.
“Oh fuck, Jake.” You reach down to grab his hair, pulling slightly, pushing his face into your cunt more and more as he violently sucks and licks. He moves a hand up to push a finger into your soaked pussy, moaning lowly, causing vibrations on your clit.
You groan out, throwing your head back, as you close your eyes. He pushes another finger in, curling them to meet your spot, as he thrusts downward into the mattress to gain some friction on his cock.
“Jakey, I’m gonna cum,” you whimper out, making eye contact with him as he eats you out like it’s his last meal.
“Come on, little love, give it to me.”
The string in your belly pops, as your pussy tightens around his fingers and your arch your back, he swings his arm over your hips and keeps you still as you ride the wave. As you come down, you move up to grab at his cock.
“No!” he pushes you down, not harshly but enough to put you back into the mattress quickly. “I know, I know you want to, but you can’t, I’m so fucking hard it hurts and I’ll cum right in your mouth and I want that sweet little pussy wrapped around my cock more than anything right now.” He presses his forehead to yours as he guides you to push his boxers down, you can’t resist though, you grab him, hard and throbbing in your hand and stroke slowly. His eyebrows furrow as he pushes out a harsh breath against your lips, “what did I tell my sweet girl?” His body doesn’t seem to be as mad at you though, as he ruts his cock into your palm. You stop his hips and guide him down to your entrance. He slips his cock through your slit a couple of times, hitting your clit with his cock, making you jump at the overstimulation. He pushes his cock into you, slowly, making sure you’re ok with every move. “Please, oh God, Jake, please move!” He moves slowly, cock making wet loud noises as he moves almost all the way back out and slams into you. “God, your pussy is so nice and wet, shit, you’re gonna fucking kill me.” He thrusts steadily into you, making small little whimpers as his cock slides into you, your breaths coming out in small little huffs. “Not gonna last, I’m afraid, pretty doll.”
His eyes roll back as he drops his head into your shoulder, slamming harder into you, “yeah, you’re such a good little girl taking my cock like this, aren’t you? It’s like your pussy was made for me.” His hand moves up to your throat, tightening as you gasp out, his face coming out of your neck to speak, whispers ghost over your lips. “So wet and tight, poor girl getting just wrecked on my cock.”
You squeeze around his cock, “Jake, please. I want it so bad, want you to cum.”
“Yeah, and where does my little love want me to cum? Maybe on her belly, her ass, maybe inside this sweet little pussy?”
You groan out, “yes Jake, yes, please oh God put it inside me!”
“Perfect little slut wants me to cum inside her? Good girl, my perfect little love,” he drops two fingers down to your clit, “cum on my cock as I cum in you, milk my cock for everything it’s got, pretty baby.”
You close your eyes as your orgasm hits you, hard and fast, stars exploding behind your eyes as Jake groans loudly in your ear, cumming inside you.
He pulls out of you, slowly, watching you whimper, “I know, I’m sorry, don’t move,” he kisses your cheek.
He returns with a damp towel as he cleans you off and then wipes himself off as he climbs into bed, wrapping an arm around your waist, pulling you into him.
“That was good, right? You don’t have any complaints?” You shift in his arms, facing him.
“Complaints? You mean to tell me that people have complained about Jake Kiszka, rockstar god, fucking them?”
He rolls his head away from you and laughs, “no, not really but I didn’t really wanna start now.”
“There’s that ego I fell in love with. You’re perfect, Jake. I love you.”
“I love you. Good night, my little love.”

Obaasan
Bokuto x gn!reader
You just wanted to save up money before you finished high school.
Working the register at a convenience store should’ve been fairly easy, pretty straightforward.
Customers got annoyed about prices, you stood your ground that you didn’t set them and offered no discounts.
Sometimes their attitudes got to you.
But days like today made you feel like you were in the right place.
You had been ringing up an older woman- a regular you adored because she was the definition of sweet- the line behind her growing, when she suddenly tried to grab onto the counter as she got dizzy. Snapping forward, you dropped the items in your hands in favor of catching hers. You couldn’t get around the counter to assist without letting her go, many disrespectful patrons complaining about how they had to wait, when you caught sight of boys you knew from school, “Akaashi-San! Bokuto-senpai! Could you please give me some assistance?”
The old woman still had apologies spilling off her tongue as the two of them came forward- Akaashi began to offer his arm to her when Bokuto opted to scoop her off her feet. Akaashi tried to scold him, tell him it was inappropriate because he hadn’t even asked permission to touch her let alone pick her up- but you were already speaking to the woman.
“Obaasan, I’m gonna keep all of your things right back here, okay? Do you think you could ask your neighbor to come buy them for you later?” Her neighbor was a nice boy, you were pretty sure you’d seen him around school but never spoken outside of the store.
“You don’t need to do that.” Bokuto noisily, but politely, cut in, big grin on his face, “I can buy her stuff and make sure she gets home okay.”
“Oh, I couldn’t ask you to do that, young man.” She offered, the four of you were essentially ignoring the annoyed customers in line.
“It’s no trouble! Just let me…” Bokuto paused, shifting a little bit before pouting at his teammate, “Akaashiiiii, I can’t reach my wallet without setting her down.”
“I am not reaching into your pocket, Bokuto.”
“But Akaashiiiiii-“
Your eyes widened, you knew what was coming as the tips of his hair started to deflate, “I can do it for you, Bokuto.”
“L/N, you really don’t have to-“
“Really? Thanks!” Bokuto cut Akaashi off, turning toward you so you could reach across the counter.
But you should’ve let him finish whining to Akaashi.
Because on assumption you shifted his bag out of the way and reached into the pocket of his sweats.
And then his face turned red, “L/N- my, uh, my wallet is in my bag.”
Recoiling like you’d been burned, you shooed them away from the counter, shoving the bags into Akaashi’s arms, “On second thought I’ll just ring it up for the manager as a tab! Just send your neighbor over to pay the bill when you can, Obaasan!” You ushered them out the door, your face on fire, but you only had a moment for self pity before the grumbling line made their annoyance known.
When you got to school the next morning, you had marginally forgot about your accidental groping of the volleyball team’s star player.
At least until you saw him on the way to lunch.
You immediately spun around, trying to avoid the conversation, what was he even doing here? This is the second year hallway!
“L/N!” His voice called, of course someone his height could find you in the crowd. “Wait!”
Heaving a breath, you halted your steps, there was no point in trying to avoid or outrun him. He definitely had a physical advantage over you, and his best friend was in your class. There would be no escape. It was better to just deal with the awkwardness. Let him yell at you- or whatever someone as genuinely nice as him would do.
So you stood, waiting for him to catch up- and it seemed like it only took him three steps to make it to your side.
“Is your grandma okay?”
Your face screwed up in confusion, your grandmother? How did he know your grandmother? “Uh, she’s fine? I mean i haven’t spoken to her since Sunday dinner and it’s Friday now but-“
“Wasn’t she at the store last night?” His gold eyes were wide, confusion and curiosity mixing, but you finally understood what he meant.
“Oh! Oh, no! She wasn’t-“ you laughed, “Obaasan isn’t my grandma. She’s just a regular at the store, sometimes on my days off I’ll help her around the house. She only lives like a block from me. She’s kind of… my grandma who’s not my grandma? Does that make sense?”
Bokuto laughed, as long and loud as he usually did, “I get it- she was really nice! Kept talking about how sweet you are when I was helping her home.”
Why did his ears turn red?
“She likes to embellish,” you rolled your eyes, ignoring the embarrassment of her clearly trying to set you up.
“Bokuto-San.” Akaashi approached from his classroom, “Did you remember to give it to them?”
“Oh! Right!” He pulled an envelope and a container out of his bag, “She wanted me to give this to you, since we’d see you today. The money for her shopping, and some cookies she wanted you to have.”
“Oh, no way! Her cookies are legendary!” You nearly crushed the container to your chest before you caught yourself, “Would you guys like to… share them with me?”
“I’m okay, thank you L/N-san. Bokuto, you go ahead. I’ll see you at practice.”
Bokuto flushed deeper as Akaashi waved, walking away before the spiker could stop him.
When the regular came in again, she had Bokuto with her. “Y/N! Sweetie, your boyfriend has been so helpful.”
“My- HUH!?” You’re face erupted, befuddlement filling you.
Bokuto pouted at her, even as she hugged his arm to walk, “I told you I haven’t confessed yet!” His eyes widened, “I mean- not that I would- no, I mean- dang it!”
“Language, mago.” She sternly tapped his hand, “And you promised you would! It was why I gave you the cookies!”
He swiftly guided her down an aisle, but didn’t take into account how his voice traveled, “I know, I know, but we were finally actually talking! I couldn’t do it. People don’t… people think I’m too much.”
“Nonsense, sweetheart. You are a catch. The right person will know that, just as your friend does.” You could hear her soothing voice over the quiet music your manager played through the store, “You need to take the chance- just as you do in that sport you play! You told me about taking the risk to perform a dump, right?”
“But that’s different.” Bokuto argued, “Volleyball is what people expect of me. Outside of that, I’m just the loud idiot.”
“No, you aren’t.” You heard something fall, rounding the corner to see him stacking boxes back on a shelf before you continued, “Bokuto-senpai, you may be loud, but you’re also empathetic. Kind. Compassionate. You helped Obaasan when all the other customers just complained that she was holding them up. That’s so much more important than whether or not you understand what an inside voice is or if you need a tutor. Academics can be hard, but it doesn’t discount the kind of person you are.”
Your neighbor patted his hand again, “Take the risk, dearie. I think you’ll realize it’s worth it.”
“Yeah… maybe it is.” Bokuto gave you a shy smile, shyer than you knew possible for him.
Obaasan was one smooth woman.

Seeing you again
Pairing: Robert "Bob" Floyd x Reader, Childhood Friends
Word Count: 2.3k
Chapter 1
"This place is a meat market."
Your first impression of The Hard Deck was not altogether positive. The ratio of men to women was much higher than any normal bar in San Diego. The place was charged with masculine bravado, momentarily hyper-focused on you and your sister as you walked through the door.
"I know, isn't it great?" Emily said as she made a beeline for the bar.
You sighed and followed her, trying your best to ignore the looks thrown your way by any number or sailors and pilots still in their uniforms.
You were new to San Diego, the city your younger sister has called home for several years. Fresh out of your doctorate, you got your first real job on the west coast and this was a new beginning. Having your sister local is a bonus- sometimes- and she claims to know all the 'best' spots in the city to meet people. Always the more adventurous of the two, places like The Hard Deck enthralled her with possibilities. You on the other hand, were overwhelmed the moment you walked in.
At the bar, Emily was quick to strike up conversation with a pair of ensigns who were happy enough to pick up her (and your) tab.
"The best part about this place," Emily said into your ear over the 80's hair band ballads coming out of the jukebox, "is that you almost never need to pay for your own drink! Just don't put your phone on the bar!" She pointed to a sign by the taps warning patrons that such an offense could lead to a round for every other customer in the establishment. "I don't think I can flirt our way out of that tab!"
You smile and thank the ensigns for your drink. They're polite enough, and you have to admit that the uniform does make even an average looking man seem much more attractive, but military men have never been your type. The idea of someone else's transient career dictating where you should live and for how long was not appealing, especially after breaking your back to get your PhD these past several years. No, these men might be handsome and charming but they weren't for you.
Emily hopped off her stool, drink in hand. "We're going to play darts! Want to join?"
You made your excuses - bad eyesight, didn't bring your glasses - Emily pouts but is happy enough to show off her competitiveness without her sister holding her back. The ensigns gladly follow the 'fun' sister to the dart boards.
The bar continued to fill with servicemen and women of all ranks and you entertain yourself in people watching, no shortage of rowdy antics erupting from military clientele blowing off some steam. You were watching a group of pilots around a pool table when one man turned around and you're struck with an inkling of recognition.
It's been years...no, decades? but you're certain it could be him - as certain as you could be when you haven't see a person since they were 12. The eyes, the smile, the glasses - the striking resemblance to his dad. You dug your phone out of your purse, careful to keep it on your lap and not place it on the bar. You opened Facebook and searched his last name and he popped up as one of your 'friends'. When this invite was sent or received you can't recall, probably initiated off-hand at the suggestion of an algorithm. When you clicked through you scrolled down a sparse profile of mostly birthday posts from friends and family and find a tagged photo from 2014 at what appears to be at the Naval Academy. The man in the white uniform matches the pilot across the room and you're dumbstruck at how small the world is.
"You know, they won't bite if you want to talk to them," the man immediately beside you at the bar said.
You glanced over at him in surprise and then blushed furiously when you realized he thought you were ogling the pilots at the pool table.
"They're a great group of guys - and girls," he said with obvious affection. You wonder briefly if he is their superior. "Friendly - mostly...especially to civilians."
"Oh no, I'm not..." you stammered, trying not to look like a desperate voyeur on the hunt for a uniformed hook-up. "I just thought I recognized the man in the glasses. Is his name Robert?"
"It is!" the man confirmed. "Lt. Robert Floyd. You know him?"
"Used to," you smiled. "He grew up on my street but my family moved away when I was in middle school and we lost touch."
The man returned your smile. "Bob in middle school...that'd be something to see."
"He goes by 'Bob' now?" You almost laughed. The name seems inappropriate for your childhood friend, but you suppose you're both in your late 20s now and he isn't a kid anymore.
"Both as his first name and as his callsign," the man said. "He's one of the best F-18 weapon systems officers in the Navy. A Top Gun graduate. Suppose a lot has changed since you last saw each other?"
"Just a bit..." you said off-handedly. You watched your old friend concentrating on a shot at the pool table, trying to imagine him in a fighter jet.
"I'll re-introduce you," the man beside you made to get up, but you quickly stilled him with a hand on his arm.
"No, please! That's not necessary." The twinkle in the man's eye told you that he wouldn't let you step away from this serendipitous occasion without talking to the pilot across the room. It would be less awkward to pretend you ran into him on your own and not be introduced by a man who saw you ogling him in secrecy. "I'll go say 'hi'".
You finished your drink in one gulp and gathered your courage. You glanced over at Emily who was still occupied with her ensigns before snaking your way through the throngs waiting for service at the bar and into the pool area. Your social anxiety nearly got the best of you when your old friend turned around and you were suddenly face to face for the first time in nearly 20 years. No backing out now. Recognition flickered across his features as he took you in.
"Robbie Floyd?" you asked with a polite, inquisitive smile, hoping to God he recognizes you in turn and saves you the embarrassment of explaining how you know his name.
"Y/N?" your smile was matched tenfold bringing on a wash of relief. "Is that really you? It's been forever!"
You nodded and you both stepped into an awkward shuffle where neither of you were certain whether you should shake hands or hug or just not touch each other. You finally settled on a brief hug and you were struck by the physical differences between the two of you now - once of a height, now he was so much taller.
"It's good to see you," he said, stepping away. You noticed a blush creep up his cheeks and suddenly you see a bit more of the boy who used to live on your street and built forts in your backyard.
"Good to see you too, Robbie," you smiled.
"Robbie?!"
You were both suddenly aware that you had an audience in the other pilots at the pool table, who had paused their game to watch their colleague interact with this stranger who emerged from the ether.
"You go by Robbie now?" one of the pilots - a tall blonde who was exactly Emily's type- laughed. "Since when?"
The group's attention focused back on Robbie - Bob - as he composed himself. "We, uh, me and Y/N," he introduced, "we grew up together. Everyone used to call me Robbie back then."
You gave an awkward little wave to the pilots who inspected you from around the table. "We haven't seen each other since we were 12," you offered by way of explanation, "so I guess you're called 'Bob' now?" you asked, looking at his badge.
Bob nodded as the blonde pilot came around the table and gripped him by the shoulder. "The one and only!" the pilot said with mock sincerity. "Tell us, Y/N, does Bob here look exactly the same as he did when he was 12?"
You recognized the good-natured insults of military personnel. Bob didn't seem to mind when the other pilots laughed at his expense. He was still as affable as you remembered.
"Different uniform from the last time I saw him," you admit with a smile directed at Bob, which was returned with a small shake of his head.
The blonde pilot's eyebrows shot upwards. "Let me guess? Boy Scout?"
"No. Catholic school boy," you said with another apologetic smile to Bob as the pilots erupted in laughter followed by a plethora of jokes about choir boys and priests and nuns with paddles. Bob took it in stride as you silently mouthed 'I'm sorry' before joining in with his and their laughter.
When the laughter died down and the pool game resumed Bob changed the topic to you. "So are you just visiting San Diego or...?"
"No, I just moved here," you said, not missing the fact that he perked up a bit at that news. "You remember my sister Emily? She's been here a few years and I always liked visiting. When I finished my degree and got a job offer here it was kind of a no brainer."
As though speaking her name brought her into existence, Emily arrived right on cue.
"Hey, I was looking for you all over and I find you-" she stopped and stared at your companion. "No way! Robbie Floyd is that you?!"
Before Bob could even confirm his identity Emily threw her arms around his shoulders, his panicked eyes meeting yours as your tipsy sister manhandled him into an overly familiar hug.
"Hey Bob! Leave some for the rest of us!" one of the pilots joked at the scene of yet another woman approaching Bob in so many minutes.
Your sister mercifully released Bob and looked him up and down. "Damn Robbie, looking good. Lieutenant?" she assessed before looking at you. "See what I said about uniforms? Doesn't he look good?"
You swallowed and looked at Bob. Despite what the other pilot had joked, Bob was clearly not a kid anymore by any stretch of the imagination and you were not unaffected by the man in the uniform in front of you. You were well aware that you and Bob were now both adults and that your innocent childhood friendship was a thing of the past.
"He looks great," you admitted, sincerely.
"You look great too," Bob said with a lopsided smile and you know he is telling the truth - he was always a terrible liar - but also because you know you were quite the ugly duckling in middle school. Any improvement on your frizzy hair, acne and braces would be noticed but you weren't too humble to admit that a certain subset of people found you particularly attractive. You were pleased to see that Bob might be in that subset of people.
The potentially tender moment was dutifully ruined by your drunk sister. "Hey remember when you told all the girls in your class that Robbie was your boyfriend?"
Your heart nearly stopped and your social anxiety came ripping back through your body in a cold sweat. You looked at your sister in desperation please don't do this, not in front of him, not in front of them.
At the interested guffaws of the other pilots, Emily continued despite your pleading look. "We went to public school, me and Y/N," she explained, "while Robbie went to St. Ignatius, so there was no way for Y/N's friends to know whether Robbie was really her boyfriend or not. So they grilled her one day on whether she had ever had a boyfriend or been kissed and this weirdo made up a whole story about her and Robbie being in a relationship..."
"I was 11," you reiterated, getting increasingly annoyed with your sister. "We all say a lot of dumb shit at 11."
"You even told me that you two had kissed in the basement!" she laughed and was joined by some whistles from her audience of pilots. You refused to look at Bob to gauge his reaction to your sister's stories but you noticed him awkwardly shuffling his feet from the corner of your eye. "I don't think you ever told me whether that story was actually true or not."
The pool area went quiet in anticipation as all eyes focused on you and Bob.
"Well? How about it Bob?" the blonde interrogated, "Did you get to first base in Y/N's basement? Or was she making it up?"
You finally met Bob's eyes and he looked at you as though he was seeing that awkward, insecure pre-teen girl who would make up stories about the boy down the street to avoid being teased because none of the boys in her class liked her that way.
"We kissed," he said to your sister. "She wasn't making that up."
You exhaled in relief amidst the barrage of hilarity between the pilots and your sister. Bob, the middle school Casanova slash good Catholic boy; the jokes wrote themselves.
When the teasing died down your sister charmed her way into the next game of pool, Bob handing her his cue stick. You were only just coming down from your adrenaline high, thankful for the casual (and much less embarrassing) conversation with some of the other pilots when Bob sidled up to you. "Have you seen the beach yet?" he asked.
You looked out the window where the late summer sun was setting on the horizon. You've been to San Diego's beaches before but not since you moved, and never on North Island.
"Not yet," you replied.
Bob cocked his head toward the door on the far wall leading out to the bar's namesake deck above the beach, a discreet invitation to join him while your sister and the pilots form teams at the pool table. You grabbed your purse and slunk through the crowd to the exit.

Hello!
Could you write something that the reader, who is not a pilot and works with Penny, likes Jake very much, but is afraid to talk to him because she has not heard pleasant things about him? After they somehow meet (my preference is after the beach scene because why not hehe) they start spending more time together and so on. A bit fluffy and smutty if you can.
Thank you!!
Pay Your Tab
Pairing: Jake Seresin x fem! Reader
Warnings: kissing, groping, smut references, language, angst, hickeys
Summary: Despite harboring crush on Hangman for a while, you’ve never acted on it due to other peoples’ opinion on him.. until now.

“Hey, you!”
I leaned over the bar, wiping away the various mysterious stains that somehow found their way onto the wood. Customers would frequently attempt to place drink orders without approaching the bar. Ignoring them becomes habitual.
“Hey, sweetheart! Over here!”
I sighed and turned to face the source of the voice. A group of pilots were standing and playing billiards as usual. The main one was waving his hand in the air, facing me. I immediately recognized him. Jake Seresin is well-known among female bar patrons for his good looks as well as his cocky demeanor. As we accidentally locked eyes, my cheeks flushed pink.
“Can we get six beers?” Jake glanced over to a man sitting in the corner, “Seven, actually.”
I cupped my hand over my ears, pretending I couldn't hear what he was saying. The ruse failed miserably.
“Seven beers!” he shouted even louder.
I reluctantly gave him a thumbs up and turned around to pour the beer, breaking Penny's rules. I placed them on the bar in front of me, one by one, until all seven were full. Seresin appeared in front of the bar, as if he had heard the last pint being poured, and surprised me as I turned around.
“Thanks, sweets,” he said, trying to grab all seven beers at a time. To my surprise, he managed to pick up five before I even offered him a tray. I smiled as I piled the last two beers on the tray before he walked away.
“Wait a minute.. don’t forget to pay your tab!”
Seresin turned around and grinned cheekily, “Don’t worry, someone will get it!”
As I live and breathe, the infamous Hangman.
I can't believe this was our first conversation. I would've asked him out on a date long ago if his shady reputation hadn't walked through the door before him.
My eyes kept looking over to him every few seconds to ensure he was real, standing in my bar, and had just spoken to me moments before. I would've assumed he had feelings for me if he wasn't such a total flirt.
With a shake of my head, I expressed my dissatisfaction.
If only he had a pleasant reputation like Rooster or Pheonix. Then, if we held hands and walked into the Hard Deck with our chests and heads held high, no one would do a double take.
“Y/N!”
Penny's call jolted me out of my Hangman stupor. Penny, who was holding a large wooden box in her hand, drew my attention to the side. Most likely, she disappeared to grab something from the back rooms.
“Some old guy just spilled a beer all over the bar. Mind cleaning it before it gets sticky?”
I did mind because all I wanted to do was become lost in my thoughts and go home early.
“Sure. I’ll get right to it.”
-
San Diego rarely got hot enough to increase the temperature of the freezing water. As a result, few people visited the beaches of southern California unless they wanted to surf or sail.
Today, however, was an exception. The day was hot, which meant that everyone in the San Diego area could enjoy a relaxing day at the beach.
“Hello Y/N. How are you today?”
Penny was sitting quietly at a picnic table overlooking the beach when she asked the question. She held a book in her hands that she had been reading for what seemed like an eternity.
“I'm wonderful. Enjoying this perfect day!”
I extended my hands out, taking in the beautiful sunshine. It was one of the most pleasant days since summer began. Penny gave me a friendly smile, pleased that I was enjoying my day off.
“Why don’t you sit down and join me?”
Penny asked, motioning for me to take a seat on the other side of the table.
“I wouldn’t want to disturb your reading.”
With an overly dramatic flare, Penny carefully closed the book and stuffed it back into her purse.
“I’ve already read that book anyway. I’d much rather have a lovely conversation with you.”
I sat down on the hard, wooden picnic table and began chatting with Penny instantly. Despite the fact that she was my boss, our conversations were always light and friendly. No wonder Maverick loved her so much.
We continued to talk and talk and talk, becoming so enveloped in the conversation that we became oblivious to what was going on around us.
Until…
“Oh my God! It’s Maverick!”
“What are you talking about?” I furrowed my brow as Penny pointed to the shoreline. My gaze followed her finger. It wasn’t just Maverick. It was Maverick’s entire group: Rooster, Phoenix, Bob, Payback, Fanboy, and…
Hangman.
When my eyes landed on him, my eyes stopped scanning the large crowd. It didn't matter who else was taking part in the lighthearted beach football game. To me, Hangman stood out like a sore thumb, and I couldn't stop my eyes from grazing over his toned body.
“Ohhhh. Does someone have a thing for a certain Navy pilot?” Penny asked teasingly.
I rolled my eyes, my eyes staying fixed on Hangman.
“Don’t judge me, Penny. You’re into Navy guys as well.”
“I’m not judging, I’m only asking.”
Phoenix snatched the ball and launched into a sprint across the beach, kicking sand up behind her feet.
“Which one is it? If you don’t mind me asking.”
I rested my chin on my hand, allowing my arm to support the full weight of my head. Penny tried to follow my gaze to see which man I was looking at, but failed.
“Do you wanna take a wild guess?” I asked.
“Sure. Um…”
Her eyes swept across the muscular men scurrying back and forth across the beach, making sure to consider all possibilities before making a guess.
“Fanboy?”
“Nope. Guess again.”
“Coyote?”
“Nope.”
Penny scoffed, “Tell me then! I’m dying to know!”
Should I let her know? I suppose I could. She wouldn’t tell Hangman, or anyone besides Maverick for that matter. I trusted her. To be honest, it wouldn't make a difference if Hangman knew. He hardly knew who I was and would probably dismiss me as another distant admirer that he occasionally saw at the bar.
“Hangman.”
I mumbled.
“What?”
A few stray strands of hair blew into my face, temporarily blocking my vision as I swiveled around to face her.
“Hangman.”
The look on her face was priceless. Her eyebrows shot up, her forehead creasing as she lowered her jaw. Was it truly insane to fall in love with a hot navy pilot who also happened to have an ego problem?
“Please don’t look at me like I’m insane, Penny.”
Penny shook her head, jolting herself awake from her shocked daze.
“No! That’s not it at all! I just wasn't expecting him to be the object of your attraction.”
Now that my secret was out in the open, the sight of the wonderfully toned men having a good time was no longer so appealing. I sighed and began to stand up.
“I’m gonna go clean up the bar.”
“You don’t have to do that on your day off, Y/N.”
“I want to. If you need anything, let me know. I’ll be inside,” I said, looking back at her as I began to walk towards the bar, her expression now neutral.
With a nod of her head, I was off, walking across the sandy beach to the back entrance of the Hard Deck.
I clenched my teeth as I scrubbed the wooden bar vigorously, attempting to remove every single small stain. My arm grew sore quickly, but I didn’t care. The only other option was being alone at home with my thoughts, so I continued to scrub until I couldn’t feel my fingers.
I watched the rag move back and forth, leaving a gleaming trail of water in its wake, as I stared down at my fast-moving hand. My brain was locked into my movements, my other senses shutting off as I trapped myself into a deep trance of constant movement.
The cloth moved back and forth, back and forth.
“If you scrub any harder, you’ll take the glaze right off the wood.”
My head jerked up so fast that I almost got whiplash as a deep male voice cleared the fog from my mind.
Hangman, shirtless and with the pant legs of his jeans rolled up to his knees, was leaning against the Hard Deck's back entrance frame, a sly smirk playing on his lips.
“We’re not open for another two hours,” I said rashly, a flush creeping up my cheekbones. Wow. I was a romantic genius.
“Can you make an exception?”
God, he was so cocky. I hope he wasn’t like this to his superiors. I wanted to say no and stick to the rules. But there was Hangman, the man I had admired in secret for months, right in front of me, asking to spend time with me alone.
“Well, no shirt, no shoes, no service.”
That line was fairly slick. I was getting better at this.
I lowered my gaze to his chest, trying not to appear creepy as I pointed out his nakedness with my eyes before bringing my attention back to his face.
Hangman grinned and flashed his pearly white teeth.
“Sure.”
His arm disappeared around his body as he reached into the back pocket of his jeans and pulled out a plain white t-shirt. He threw it on. Part of me wished he'd kept his shirt off, but asking him to strip after just demanding he redressed would give him the wrong impression.
Him and his ego swaggered over to the bar, instantly filling the room and heightening the tension of the atmosphere. Although, maybe, the tension was just in my head, because my heart was already beating out of my chest after one sly glance from Hangman.
“What do you want?”
Hangman shifted his hips on the bar stool, the cushion underneath him creaking as he tried to find a comfortable position.
“Give me whatever.”
I knelt down and grabbed a random bottle of beer from the mini fridge, popping the cap off with the bottle opener on the bar's side. The cold bottle left a trail of water in its wake as I slid it across the bar to Hangman.
“There you go.”
I stepped on the bottle cap that was rattling against the bar's floor to silence the annoying noise.
“Don’t I have to open a tab?”
I extended my hand to him, exposing my open palm. Hangman reached into his back pocket and pulled out a thin wallet. He flipped through the contents, removing a red credit card from the leather wallet and placing it in my open palm. As our hands gently touched, he smirked, and I prayed he wouldn't notice the blush creeping onto my cheeks.
I kept his card behind the bar while I opened a tab for him. I walked around to the other side, turning away from him and continuing my thorough cleaning process.
“You aren’t gonna keep me company?”
He yelled, feigning sadness in his tone in the hopes of making me feel sorry for him.
I scoffed, “If you wanted company, you would’ve brought friends.”
I tried to be as snarky as possible in my response. I wanted him to leave the bar so I could finally relax and fantasize about him instead of having to actually communicate with him.
“Playing hard to get, aren’t we?” he said coolly.
My movements came to a sudden halt.
Is it possible that I misunderstood him?
Was he implying that he was attempting to "get" me?
“Oh, did I hit a nerve?” He spoke with a honeyed tone that dripped from his lips.
“No. I just…” I stuttered, struggling to get the words out of my throat.
“You didn’t think I’d be interested in you?”
What?
Was I that easy to read?
As the blood flew right to my face, my cheeks turned bright red, my cheekbones burning with heat. I knew that my silence would amuse him more than if I simply acknowledged that he was correct.
“Yes. I didn’t think you’d be interested in me.”
I resumed my scrubbing motions, wiping the bar aggressively despite the wood already being shiny and spotless.
“Well, I am.”
“You’re interested in me?”
“Yes. I. Am.”
I realized I was bent over a little further than I had intended when I turned my head over my right shoulder and locked eyes with Hangman.
I gulped, rising to my full height, turning, and leaning over the opposite side of the bar, keeping my gaze fixed on Hangman. As Jake raised his eyebrows in subtle surprise at my confidence, I reached my torso over the bar, propped up on my elbows, and tried to appear as intimidating as possible.
"Alright, Hangman.”
I spoke angrily through my teeth.
“I’ll bite. Tell me why you’re so infatuated with me all of a sudden.”
Hangman pushed his beer to the side and leaned forward over the bar, his breath fanning across my face as he brought our noses only inches apart. He gained confidence as he watched me squirm in my skin under his intense gaze. My chest tightened as the crushing atmosphere of the room pressed down on my fragile body, his grin widening with each shaky gulp or inhale.
“Cause I saw you staring at me the other day.”
My jaw was clenched so tightly that my teeth felt as if they were splitting under the force of my bite.
He moved forward another inch, his nose nearly brushing against the tip of mine as his stare became increasingly intense.
“And ever since then I haven’t been able to get you out of my mind.”
His voice had changed from seductive to completely erotic, a pinching sensation beginning to form in my lower abdomen.
“Nothing to say?” he teased.
My lower jaw trembled in excitement and anticipation as I ran my tongue along my bottom lip.
“Um… no. I don’t have anything to say.”
Hangman laughed heartily, his shoulders bouncing as he did so. He leaned back in his chair, his posture assuming a normal position. The space between our two faces provided some relief from the mounting tension around us. The true tension, however, was building inside the pit of my stomach.
“Then I’ll do the talking.”
Hangman said with his lips pursed into a thin smile and his brows raised halfway up his forehead, dark wrinkles forming above his eyebrows.
“My car is the white one in the front of the parking lot. It should be unlocked. I want you to sit in the passenger's seat and wait for me.”
I furrowed my brow.
“Wait for you?”
Hangman wrapped his large hand around the neck of his beer bottle and thrust it into the air, assuming a toast position.
“I gotta finish my beer first,” with a low smacking sound, he slammed the bottle onto the bar.
Hangman continued proudly with a sly wink, “Leave me in peace for a bit, I’ll rejoin you soon.”
God, cocky bastard.
I gradually grew to my full height, having to tilt my neck to stare down at Hangman. Despite the new perspective, he was in complete command of the situation. The difference in height has no effect on his self-assurance.
I didn't want to give Hangman everything he desired. I wanted to be tough, to stand my ground, and to truly give him a run for his money. But I had a terrible, huge crush on this man, and this was one of my most frequent fantasies.
Being ordered around by a slick, attractive navy pilot who I’ve been admiring for a few months now?
Yes please.
“Okay Hangman, you win.”
I turned away from him and made my way to the front door. As I walked out of the bar, I could feel Hangman's slick eyes following me with every subtle movement of my body. But I didn't dare to look back at him because I was already giving him so much pleasure by doing exactly what he said. I wasn't going to give him any more satisfaction by showing him how severely he got under my skin.
However, I wouldn't be surprised if he was already aware.
The front windshield of a white Mustang was facing away from the front entrance of the parking lot.
A mustang, wow, very Hangman.
The windows were tinted, and anyone staring into the car would see absolutely nothing. The door was unlocked, and I clambered into the passenger's seat of the car.
Now, I wait.
The car was heating up in the surprisingly hot San Diego sun, and a thin layer of moisture was forming on my upper lip and brow.
Let’s hope Penny doesn’t come to check on me.
Penny.
Oh God.
Did she tell him?
Did she inform Hangman that I was in love with him?
That is the only plausible explanation. Penny informed Hanfman, who decided to confront me about it. Act on it, rather.
It makes sense, perfect sense.
I mean, when I told her my secret I expected her not to tell anyone.
But, I couldn’t even be mad at her because the spilling of my secret put me in a sensual situation with a super hot navy pilot.
“Fuck Hangman, where are you?”
He was messing with me. There was no way the last half of his beer was taking him this long to finish. I saw him drink on a busy night of partying, he can down multiple beers in the blink of an eye.
I shifted my hips, my thighs sticking to the leather seats.
The Hard Deck parking lot was deserted, with only Hangman's white Mustang parked on the asphalt. Part of me wishes there were people bustling around the car while Hangman and I did whatever he wanted behind tinted windows.
I wiped my upper lip, but the droplets of sweat returned after a few seconds.
“Oh come on, this is ridiculous.”
Alright, that was it. I’d have enough of Hangman’s cockiness.
I wasn't about to sit in this hot car all day waiting for him to show up whenever he damn well pleased.
Hangman tapped the window with his finger joint. Sure enough, he was standing outside the car, staring in.
I rolled my eyes as he flung open the door and slid into the driver's seat.
“Miss me honey?”
I didn't respond. Instead, I was looking out the window at the beach. On the opposite side of the Hard Deck, the pilots were playing football. My gaze was drawn to a section of the sand filled with large families and adorable couples.
“Oh come on, I couldn’t just give you what you wanted when you wanted it. That wouldn’t be fun.”
“Yet you expect me to give you what you want when you want it?”
I spin my head around, meeting Hangman's mischievous gaze.
“I didn’t make you sit in my car and wait for me. If you would’ve told me no I would’ve left you alone.”
Hangman leaned over the center console.
“You’re giving me what I want honey. I don’t expect anything.”
The hot air hung around us, and sweat drops began to form on Hangman's face.
“Well.”
I said.
“Well?”
He asked, his brows raising.
I leaned in closer to Hangman, bringing our faces closer together once more.
“Are you gonna kiss me or are you just gonna stare?”
“Stare.”
He said, his voice devoid of any emotion.
What?
What kind of mind games was this man playing?
Hangman maintained intense eye contact with me as he drew his keys from his back pocket and began tapping the keys until the clicking noise of the doors locking surrounded me in every direction.
“Now we can kiss.”
Hangman tossed his keys to the floor of his car and pressed his lips to mine in a moment of passion. The force of his kiss caused me to recoil, knocking the breath straight from my lungs as my eyes fluttered closed.
I wrapped my arms around his neck, pulling his face impossibly closer to me. God, just moments ago we were teasing each other in his car. Only seconds later, our teeth were clashing and chests heaving as Hangman thrusted his sweet tongue past my lips.
Jake’s calloused palms rubbed against my clothed hips, gripping the flesh and yanking me towards him every time my pelvis shifted backwards.
I felt myself being thrown into the air as Hangman effortlessly pulled me from my seat and onto his lap, putting his well-defined muscles to good use.
His large hands shifted from my hips to my thighs, kneading the soft flesh as he pulled me even farther forward until our chests were pressed flush together.
“You’re a good kisser.”
I wheezed before reconnecting our lips. Hangman smirked against my mouth, his ego inflated by the slightly juvenile compliment.
I always assumed that even if I were placed in this situation, I wouldn't be able to get past Hangman's cocky demeanor and massive ego. But his confidence somehow made him even more appealing.
It would be different if Hangman wasn't charismatic and thought he was hot shit for no reason whatsoever.
But God, he could kiss like it was nobody’s business. His plush lips meshed with mine as his hands moved expertly on my body, adding to the many wonderful sensations that arose as I kissed him.
Goosebumps broke out along my skin, Hangman’s dull nails digging into the thick flesh of my thighs.
If he could kiss like this… I shudder to think at what he could do with his-
“God, I want to be inside you so badly.”
The honeyed tone was back. Hangman yanked his lips away from mine, severing the connection I was longing for. He'd given me a taste of his passion, and I wasn't sure if I'd ever be able to get enough of it.
His warm mouth pressed to the side of my throat, and I involuntarily threw my head back to expose more of my neck for him, my lower abdomen fluttering with desire.
“What’s stopping you?”
I asked, gasping for air as he nibbled on my collarbone's sensitive skin. Jake flattened his tongue against the bruise, leaving a patch of saliva on my collarbone as I moaned involuntarily.
“Oh honey, I wanna take my time with you.”
He mumbled against my skin, his hands finding their way to my clothed breasts.
I grit my teeth and sighed deeply as his hands desperately kneaded my breasts, pinching my nipples through two layers of clothes.
It wasn’t enough.
It wasn’t nearly enough for me.
“Besides…
He whispered sensually, his hot breath sending chills down my spine.
“You’re too much fun to tease.”
Oh come on, cut me a break Hangman.
I drew my arms from around Hangman's neck, allowing my head to fall forward while trailing my hands down his chest. Hangman continued to bite and suck at the sensitive skin on the small patch of my exposed chest.
I thought about unbuckling his thick leather belt and reaching into his boxers to palm his cock through his boxers. I wanted to pleasure him, show him I could make him feel good.
But Hangman made it clear now wasn’t the time to take off each other’s clothes. So I opted for dipping my hands under the hem of his shirt and pressing my open palms against his lower abdomen.
The shaggy hair on his belly brushed against my fingers, the desire to clench my thighs together rushed through my body as I began to explore more of his body.
“God you’re beautiful… I can wait to fuck you in my car. I can’t wait to fill you up.”
He blew hot air onto the hickeys he'd created on my chest, the sensitive patches of skin lighting on fire under his breath.
“You’re gonna look so pretty bouncing on my cock.”
I moaned, this time louder and much more audible.
“My God your moans are gorgeous.”
His hands quickened their pace against my sensitive breasts.
“Hangman.”
I moaned, knitting my brows together as my nipples hardened under his touch.
“HANGMAN!”
That certainly wasn’t my voice.
I retracted my hands from his lower abdomen and sat back on his muscular thick thighs, whirling my head around to find the source of the noise.
“Fucking Bob.”
Hangman grunted in disapproval as he watched Bob frantically search the parking lot for his fellow pilot.
“It doesn’t look like he sees us. We can just wait him out.”
Just as I finished speaking, Bob's gaze was drawn to Hangman's car, and he began sprinting towards it.
“Fuck. Get off my lap.”
I scrambled off Hangman's lap and into the passenger seat, making an audible rattle as I moved. Fuck.
Bob heard the racket and now he knew someone was in the car.
“Hangman! Are you in there?”
Bob inquired, squinting against the light reflected off Hangman's tinted windows and aggressively tapping on the window.
Hangman rolled his eyes and pressed the button to roll down the window all the way.
“Hey! Penny has your credit card and it says you opened a tab? She thought you left without it! Good thing you’re still-“
His gaze fell on me as I sat uncomfortably in Hangman's passenger seat, hickeys all over my chest. I gave Bob a meek wave as I awkwardly smiled.
“Hello.”
He said, smiling and waving back at me as his cheeks began to turn bright red.
“Alright Bob, why don’t you tell Penny I’ll be right in.”
“Oh no please! Take your time.”
Bob blurted out, clearly embarrassed that he had interrupted our time together.
Bob practically sprinted towards the Hard Deck's front door, not looking back at us as he hurriedly exited the situation.
“I assume Penny spilled the beans?”
Hangman knitted his brows together in perplexity, turning his head to face me.
“What do you mean?”
Oh. She hadn’t told him.
“Oh!”
I exclaimed.
“Never mind.”

ACT 1, SCENE 1 - THE HARD DECK
Nicole walks back to the pool table from the bar, drinks in hand. She hands a beer to Jake.
"Mrs. Seresin, what on earth are you drinking?" says Jake "Hangman" Seresin, reminding her of her soon-to-be married name. He gestures to her glass, a rosy-colored concoction of various fruit juices and seltzer.
"Have you got a single thought behind those green marble eyes of yours? Asian flush, genius!" she responds, the tone jokingly mocking.
Phoenix and Coyote almost choked on their drinks laughing at the exchange. Phoenix puts a hand on her chest and clears her throat.
"You know, when you guys told us about the engagement thing, I almost didn't believe you. Cowboy marrying a city girl. Now that's funny." said Phoenix.
Jake sashayed over to Nicole, wrapping his big arms around her. His way of showing her love was through physical touch. Hugging, kissing, holding hands.
"You know I'm only teasing you, baby." he said. Nicole giggled and wrapped her hands around his arms. Eye-rolling and further snickers ensue from Natasha and Javy.
Nicole understood this familiar plea for attention. They best enjoyed moments where it was just the two of them. No snickers, no glances, no doubts of their relationship. "Well, guess we better be on our way, it's.." Nicole glanced at her watch. "5:54!" she exclaimed, breaking out of Jake's grip.
Jake and Nicole set down their drinks down on a table. "Take care of our tab!" Jake said hurriedly, as he and Nicole frantically get ready to leave the Hard Deck. Nicole reached into her pocket and grabbed her keys, organized by size. "We'll see you guys at the ceremony," she said, grabbing Jake's hand and speed-walking with him out to the car.
Phoenix looked at Coyote in disbelief and scoffed, "Those two never pay their bill."
"Good thing I brought my credit card.." said Coyote.
ACT 1, SCENE 2 – THE CAR RIDE HOME
Nicole grasped the steering wheel as she breathed deeply. Music was softly playing through the speakers.
As "Glue Song" by beabeedoobee came on, Nicole glanced out of her window at the orange-red sunset, a common sight since moving to San Diego five years ago.
Born and raised in Portland, Oregon, which was 1,082 miles away, she enjoyed and preferred the sweltering heat of Southern California rather than Oregon's aqueous, blinding rains and windswept squalls.
She turned the music volume down using the button on the dashboard.
"Is something wrong?" Jake said, looking over at her. Placing his fingers in her hair, he started to run them through the ends of her slightly wavy, brown hair.
"Jake, you know my family."
"Well, of course I do, we've had dinner with them at your parents' restaurant so many times."
"That's sort of the problem." Nicole sighed, shifting a little bit in the leather driver's seat.
"What do you mean?" Jake said, returning his hand to his side.
"It's just that.. you know. I'm Asian and you're white. I'm really nervous on how our wedding is going to look."
"Oh, Nicky. You're worried about nothing. It can be disorganized as hell and I'd still be happy because I'm marrying you."
She felt more eased. Nicole loved it when he comforted her. The feeling was like an ocean wave had swept over her feet. Calming yet so comforting.
"Thanks babe." She said, turning her head to smile at him, replied to with a bright pearly white smile from her husband.
ACT 2, SCENE 1 – FLASHBACK, FIRST PERSON JOURNAL, NICOLE
I had just gotten to North Island yesterday afternoon. My god, the warm air and sun makes me feel like I'm on vacation or something.
"Looks like we have ourselves another lady pilot!"
I turned my head. There's a 6'1 man coming towards me. Who could this be? Is he talking to me? Surely, he is.
He extended his hand to me. Do I shake it? Reluctantly, I did.
"Nicole. Callsign's Dragon. And you?"
"The name's Hangman, but you can call me yours."
Oh my god. Did I just get hit on within my first HOUR of being here? Yes, I did. I just decided to forget about it.
Later that evening, my new friends Natasha and Callie took me to a bar. It was called The Hard Deck, I think? Really funny name. Fitting for a Navy bar, I guess.
But what do you know it, when I walk in, guess who I see? That blonde man from earlier.
For the first fifteen minutes, I tried my best to bury my head in conversation with Natasha and Callie. Their callsigns were Phoenix and Halo, which I thought was super cool. Dragon, Phoenix, Halo, the best female pilots in the nation, damn right.
I couldn't get him off of my mind though. So I told them what happened earlier, and they told me to go strike up a conversation with him. I don't regret it at all.
I walked up to the bar where he was sitting, pulled out the stool next to him, and sat down. He looked up.
"Well, who do we have here? You're that lady pilot from earlier today. Dragon, right?"
"How did you even remember all of that?"
"I'm magic, darling."
I couldn't help but blush. Darling? Please, this sounded like a cheesy romance novel that I would be forced to read for junior high English class.
"Whatever. But uh, yeah. I thought about what you said earlier. I respect you for having the guts to be that outgoing."
He chuckled. His teeth were perfect. I really can't lie, he's gorgeous.
"You, uh, never really told me your name either. You just told me your callsign. So.. yeah.."
"The name's Jake. Jake Seresin."
"Nice to meet you, Mr. Jake Seresin."
And that is the start of how I got a date for this Friday. For the second only time in my life, I'm dating somebody. Maybe someday, I'll marry somebody too.
Nicole, August 24, 2019
ACT 3, SCENE 1 – 3 DAYS LATER, WEDDING DAY
Nicole closed the journal and set it on the table of the vanity. She re-read the entry from her first day at Naval Air Station North Island, reminiscing on her first encounters with her soon-to-be husband.
"I can't believe the last line became reality. It's like it was just yesterday." she said to her sister, Josephine, who was curling her hair with a hot curling iron.
Nicole was wearing a white Áo dài with a white headpiece too, as per the Vietnamese tradition.
Josephine turned off the curling iron and helped Nicole get up from her chair.
"You're looking so beautiful, all dolled up like this, Nicky. You're a big, strong woman now." She said, giving her sister a bear hug.
"Thank you. Thank you so much, Joey. It's like yesterday we were just playing dollhouse in the basement, and now I'm getting married."
Both smiled at each other. "Go on out there girl. He's waiting."
Nicole walked out of the dressing room, and moved in between the arms of her parents, Uyen Kim and Han Hoang. They were so moved by the sight of their daughter marrying a man that makes her happy and content with life.
Nicole couldn't help but tear up when she looked out into the room and crowd. The wedding hall was clearly decorated with Vietnamese and western influence, paying homage to both families.
And there in the distance, she saw Jake waiting for her at the altar. Dressed in his Navy whites, he looked like the most handsome man in the world in Nicole's eyes.
When they reached the altar, her parents let go of her arms, and returned to their pew, as Nicole walked up to Jake, holding a bouquet of flowers. She saw the tears coming out of his eyes too.
In the congregation as Hangman's groomsmen were Rooster, Coyote, Payback, Fritz, Harvard, and Omaha. Nicole's bridespeople were Phoenix, Halo, and disregarding the traditional gender binaries, she also had Bob, Fanboy, and Yale. Also in the congregation was Penny and her daughter, Amelia.
"You look good, baby." said Jake, smiling at her and wiping her tears with his fingers.
"You look good too, baby." said Nicole.
When the time came to place rings on each other's fingers, Jake started to see all of their happiest memories together.
When he used his umbrella to cover her during a rainstorm, sacrificing his own uniform for her own comfort, and when he carried her back home on his back after an exhausting work day.
And as the minister had them recite their vows, Nicole started to see all of their memories flash before her eyes too.
The sunset drives where they sung along to Taylor Swift's "Our Song", the bar games where he always won, and the hugs that he would give her in front of their friends, not having a single worry in the world about embarrassing themselves.
"And now, you may kiss the bride." the minister said.
Jake leaned in to kiss her, finally landing a loving, gentle kiss on her lips. So moved, so loved, and so now married.
The congregation erupted in clapping and cheering.
"I can't believe they actually worked out." said Rooster, who was seconded by Phoenix and Coyote.
After a few full seconds, Nicole and Jake finally let go of each other's lips.
Looking each other in the eye, Nicole said,
"What spell did you cast on me to make me fall in love with you?" she said, smiling through tears and at this point, full sobbing.
"You know me. I'm magic, darling." he said, smiling back at her.

the one with the dress, the dinner, and the drinks
note: i found this dress on a pinterest (in the yellow color, if the link doesn’t work) and after talking to @gretagerwigsmuse (and subsequently @struggling-with-delia) i felt like i wouldn’t be doing Sunshine justice if i didn’t write this. enjoy.
warnings: implied body insecurities, food mentions, alcohol mentions, mentions of financial insecurity, i had to do research on beer for this, this got away from me
In hindsight, you understand how Maverick had missed all the signs, had missed all the holes in your story.
How, given the way you had behaved all night, Maverick had mistaken your nerves for butterflies, commenting how it was so nice that even after years of being together you and Bradley were still chasing each other, still falling in love with each other everyday.
You pad down the stairs, tan heels in hand as you try not to think about the sweat on your palms.
Tonight, you were meeting Bradley’s Uncle Ice for the first time. In the days since you’d first come to San Diego, Bradley and his friends had described Tom “Iceman” Kazansky to you as nothing short of a legend. Tom had been the one to make the reservation, a nice restaurant by the beach.
You’d Googled it beforehand, eyes scanning the menu to figure out what you’d eat. You hadn’t missed the 3 dollar signs by the name, the 4.5 stars. You hadn’t missed how it was seated beachfront, inside one of the more expensive hotels in the area. You hadn’t missed how the cheapest thing on their menu, all their sides, started out at eleven dollars. You certainly hadn’t missed that the most expensive thing on the menu was the prime rib steak at sixty-nine dollars.
If you hadn’t been so nervous about this dinner, you probably would’ve mentioned it to Bradley, expecting a joke about the number amount like he was 13. Still, you were both adults now, and you knew he’d question why you were even looking at the menu in the first place. He’d probably tease you for over-thinking it so much.
You didn’t even dare click on the tab that would’ve taken you their cocktails and the beers they had on tap, knowing you’d just drink water. Alcohol tonight was probably a bad idea, with all your nerves, never mind the fact that if their sides were eleven (that still sounded absurd).
And then, just after you’d gotten out of the shower, you’d looked hurriedly, wondering if it was expensive as you thought it was. Your jaw had dropped when the prices started hitting sixty dollars and you’re pretty sure you stopped breathing when the prices started creeping up towards a hundred.
You had still yet to unlearn the anxiety around spending money, knowing you could afford to go eat at nice places like this once in a while. You’d still yet to unlearn mentally counting every penny you spent, unsure if you’d be able to pay your bills for the month. You’d still yet to unlearn the fear that came with living paycheck to paycheck, knowing everything counted. Even years later, you still feared something breaking, something needing a repair, having to buy a new outfit, never knowing if you had enough money in the bank for it.
Your co-workers still teased you thrifting your clothes, saying you must be environmentally conscious to search for business causal in places like Goodwill. You didn’t know how to explain to them that it was because you still couldn’t bring yourself to step foot in a store more expensive than a DollarTree, afraid of the price tags.
How do explain the anxiety of going shopping, knowing you’ll have to put everything back on the rack? How do you explain the years of having to turn down invites and being left out because you couldn’t afford it?
Which is why, when you’d bought this dress for this dinner, you were nervous. You’d paced the floor of your apartment back in Boston as you thought about buying it. It was 50% off, you rationalized, and you wanted to make a good impression on these people. You could afford it, despite what your inner 19-year-old was screaming at you, and selfishly, a part of you hoped that maybe a nicer dress would finally catch Bradley’s attention.
And it had pockets.
Bradley’s sitting on the couch, eyes trained on the Padres game on the television. He’s wearing a nice polo with blue jeans, his arm resting on the back of the couch. You don’t miss the way his biceps look in this position, bulging against the seam of the sleeves. You have to admit that he looks good, you’d be a fool to miss it, and there’s every part of you that wants to turn around and lock yourself in the guest room.
It wasn’t that Bradley made you feel small, because Bradley Bradshaw never made anyone feel small, at least not intentionally. It was just that he looked so... good, and you looked so... you. A stable job and income didn’t change the fact that you still didn’t really know how to dress yourself, how to put on make-up, years of not being able to afford it making it feel silly to learn.
It felt silly to try, knowing what kind of girls Bradley could get.
Girls like Natasha.
You cleared your throat and Bradley’s attention shifts to you. His eyes look over you and suddenly, you want to shrink back. Too much?
Always too much.
“I can go get a cardigan if you think-”
“No.” He interrupts, shaking his head. “No, you look great.” You nod, swallowing.
“Do you think- do you think you could tie the straps on the back?” You ask quietly, stepping a little farther into the living room. He nods, standing up from the couch. You turn, pulling your hair over one shoulder. His fingers brush against your spine as he laces up the back of the dress, fingers nimbly tying the bow. You hold your breath as he works, trying not to think about how intimate the moment feels, how much you want Bradley to pull you close.
-
Pete, Maverick he insisted you call him, beats both you and Bradley and Tom to the restaurant. He’s quick to stand up from their table as the hostess walks you to it to give Bradley a tight hug. You hold yourself back, debating if you should sit down as you take in the beachfront view.
As the hostess patiently waits for the two to finish up their greetings, you decide to sit, figuring Bradley will follow when he’s ready. Pete seems startled you sat before he could greet you but he doesn’t mention it as Bradley sits down next to you.
“Welcome to JRDN at Tower23, can I get you anything to drink while you wait for the other member of your party?” She asks, handing Bradley a menu. He tries to share it with you but you just smile at the woman.
“Water for me will be fine, thank you.”
Bradley’s eyes flicker over to you in surprise. “I’ll start with he uh... Stone Buenaveza, please.”
If you recalled form the three different Google searches, that was the salt and lime lager.
“Okay, and will that be a pint or 20 ounce for you tonight?”
“Let’s start with the pint.” He says as the waitress writes it down.
“Alright, Stone Buenaveza and the water. That’ll be right out.”
“Where’s Uncle Ice?” Bradley starts as he closes the menu, leaning back in your chair. You’re attention is drawn from the two men to the people on the beach as the waves crash on the shore.
“Work meeting ran late and then he hit traffic.” Bradley nods as his arm moves to rest on the back of your chair.
“Don’t I know it? Crossing the Coronado bridge out of North Island is always hell.”
Maverick shakes his head. “Only gotten worse over the years.”
“How long were you waiting on us?”
Pe- Maverick shrugs. “Not long, maybe only a couple of minutes.”
The hostess appears again. “Here’s the Stella Artois here for you sir,” She says setting the glass down in front of Maverick. “-and the Stone Buenaveza for you, and then the water for the lady.”
The woman has barely disappeared around the corner when another hostess appears, a man following behind her. Both Bradley and Maverick stand, and it feels like the wind is being knocked form your lungs as you realize this is Uncle Ice.
The man is much more intimidating in person, although you aren’t sure if that has anything to do with the stories Bradley and his friends have told you over the last couple of days.
He smiles as he brings Bradley into a tight hug. “Hey Baby Goose.”
“Hey Uncle Ice.” Bradley’s voice is muffled into the man’s shoulder.
Tom lets Bradley go and pats Maverick’s shoulder as he passes. “Pete.” He says with a fond sigh as Mav shoots him a grin. Tom sits down in the chair next to Pete, closest to the railing that separates your group from the beach. You wipe your palms on your dress, suddenly nervous again, as Tom looks to you.
“Uncle Ice, this is my wife.”
“Sunshine.” Maverick teases, a shit-eating grin on his face that suddenly disappears with a wince.
You think Bradley might’ve kicked his uncle under the table.
Tom offers you a firm smile, reaching his hand out. “Nice to meet you.” You extend your hand, shaking his.
“You too.” He turns your hand over, eyeing the ring you’d stuck on.
“Surprised you didn't give her Carole’s ring.”
You freeze, eyes flickering over to Bradley as Toms till holds your hand in his firm grip.
You didn't even know he had his Mom’s ring.
“It was a family heirloom.” You say suddenly, the words coming out of your mouth before you can stop them. “It was my grandmother’s, before she passed. My grandparents didn’t have a lot of money when they got married, so this was the first ring they were actually able to afford. It was important to me that it was the ring I wore because Bradley and I didn’t have a lot of money when we got married.”
It’s all bullshit that’s coming out of your mouth but it seems to satisfy Tom, who lets your hand go. Bradley reaches out underneath the table to squeeze your knee in a silent thanks.
He hums, opening the menu. He orders a chardonnay you wouldn’t even begin to be able to pronounce. Pete nudges him, offering him a grin. “Same old Tom Kazansky, always getting the most expensive drink on the menu.”
“Is it?” Bradley asks, looking through his menu as the hostess leaves.
“It’s a hundred and fifty dollars.” You recite, knowing exactly where on the menu the wine had been. All the men turn to you and you resist the urge to sink down in the chair. “I’m guessing.”
“You Googled this place before we came, didn’t you?” Bradley asks, narrowing his eyes. You shrug. “Little miss picky eater over here always did that in college, searching up any place before we went there.”
You had always let everyone think you were a picky eater, especially towards seafood (which for some godforsaken reason seemed more expensive then everything else), because the alternative was explaining to them you couldn’t afford to go. You had only let one person know that in high school, the night of prom, and you wouldn’t deal with the shame and guilt that came from someone else paying for your meal out of pity and obligation ever again.
You know that if you say anything now, Tom will see all the holes in your story and understand.
He’s looking at you like he already knows.
“Well, I’m sorry Tom made the reservation for a seafood place.” Pete jokes and Bradley laughs as you try to let the tension release from your shoulder. Tom’s still watching you carefully and you try not wither under his gaze.
A waitress appears, cutting off the conversation. “Hi all, my name is Rebecca and I’ll be your server for tonight. Do you guys need more time with the menu or do you know what I can get started for you?”
Tom hums again. “I know what I want. I’ll have the prime rib eye steak.”
Pete snorts, probably because it is once again, the most expensive thing on the menu. “I’ll have the pork chop.”
“I’ll have the ahi tuna nachos.” Bradley says, closing his menu and handing it to the waitress.
“I’ll just have the caesar salad.’ You say, handing the waitress your menu.
“Okay, and would you like grilled chicken or salmon on that?”
You shake your head. “No thanks.”
“Picky eater, I told you.” Bradley mutters and your heart clenches, not having the heart to tell him that chicken would’ve been another six dollars, the salmon an extra twelve. The salad was already sixteen dollars, the cheapest thing on the menu.
The conversation falls silent at the table. Bradley nudges your knee with his own and you look over at him as the two men watch you both. He leans closer to you, lips hovering over your ear. “Relax, you’re doing fine.” He says, right hand coming out to squeeze one of your hands, in assurance.
Pete clears his throat. “So remind me where the two of you met again? UVA right?”

Calm Masterlist
Yeosang x reader
Word Count: 907
Genre: angst
Warnings: alcohol/drinking, alcoholism? Yeo used drinking as a coping mechanism, Yeosang also gets sad when he drinks
1:23am
“Could I get another vodka soda please?”
The bartender looked weary, debating if he should continue supplying drinks to the man slumped over his bar. Yeosang had been there for a few hours now, he wasn’t paying attention to the time but he could probably guess how late it was.
Yeosang wasn’t much of a drinker until the breakup happened, you always had a better tolerance than him anyway. You had gone your separate ways about a month ago and though he’d never admit it to his friends, he missed you, bad.
He had turned his phone off so nobody could track his location, he knew he would get scolded for being at the bar but it was the only thing that helped soothe the ache. The hurt that settled so deeply in his chest when he looked at old photos of the two of you.
He had tried so hard to get over things, he tried to become better, he really did. He wanted to be mad at you but he couldn’t. Yeosang couldn’t even dream about being mad at you.
You said you had fallen out of love, he didn’t think that was even possible, especially not after two whole years together. Apparently it could happen and he got a front row seat to the biggest heartbreak show in town.
Yeosang was shaken out of his thoughts when the bartender placed a paper and pen in front of him.
“We’re cutting you off for the night, if you just wanna pay your tab before you head out.”
The streets were dark and empty, much like his own mind, though he would never say such a thing out loud. Yeosang was never one for dramatics. As he walked past the glass window storefront he was able to get a good look at himself.
In the reflection stood a man he didn’t recognize. He wished you saw better in him, what did you think of him now? Yeosang wouldn’t have been able to show you even if you went looking for it. After the breakup he completely disappeared from social media, he couldn’t bear to see you look happy. Photos taken with your friends, going on trips, and god forbid an unfamiliar man show up in the photos.
He couldn’t handle it, seeing that you were okay, after all you were the one to dump him. Yeosang slowly made it into his dark apartment, all the physical reminders of you had disappeared but the memories stayed.
He remembers the countless movie nights turned make out sessions. He remembers how many books you used to leave around. He especially remembers when you two would get high in the mornings.
He made his way to the bedroom, opting not to shower tonight. He pulled out his phone, turning it back on to see if anybody had called him. Maybe you had reached out, though he would only believe it once he saw it.
There was a missed call from San and a couple texts from Mingi about going to lunch tomorrow. He knew it was bad; the urge to call you. He needed to hear your voice even if you yelled at him. He wanted to know you were okay. He wanted to know if you thought he was ridiculous for calling, for holding on this long. He needed to know what you thought of him. Hell, you were probably asleep.
Yeosang lazily moved to find your contact, hesitating before he pressed on it. He brought the phone to his ear, almost hoping you didn’t pick up.
1:57am
After a few rings it went silent, and Yeosangs breath died in his throat, “Hello?”
“Hi! this is y/n, sorry it seems i’m busy right now, i’ll call back later!”
He paused, voicemail. A weight seemed to lift from his shoulders, he let out a breath before continuing.
“It’s Yeosang, I know it’s late…trust me I know, I um, i’ve been thinking a lot lately and I wanted to call to say I missed you.”
“God you’re probably going to be upset with me but I need to know, are you okay? How are you okay? I’ve been nothing but miserable, you probably think i’m pathetic.”
“Over time i’ve grown to see the flaws we had, I never realized how much your friends hated me until now, I never saw how miserable you looked when you were with me.”
“Was I that miserable to be with? You couldn’t stand it and you broke up with me. I’m not mad, I don’t think I could ever be mad at you.”
“Was I an okay boyfriend? Did you think of me highly?”
He released a puff of air realizing everything he unloaded, this was humiliating.
“I’m sorry, just ignore this, you probably have my blocked anyway.”
He hung up quickly, tossing his phone onto the bed before burying his face in his hands. Yeosang wanted to cry but nothing had come out. Deciding sleep was the best option he had turned his phone back off, not wanting to face the possible consequences of his actions.
Yeosang slowly crawled into bed, staring at the ceiling before sleep finally overcame him.
When he woke up that morning he went to reach for his phone, turning it on. Yeosang sat up in shock as he read the notifications that had appeared on the screen.
7:42am
Missed call: Y/N
Voicemail: Y/N

An interlude that takes place after Chapter 5, but before the events of Chapter 8 in HotT. It's as canon as you want it to be. (Something uplifting after all the hurt)
Papyrus trekked through the snow as he made his way over to Grillby’s. Warm light poured out from the windows, and cheerful chatter got louder as he got closer. The smell of greasy food filled the air. Papyrus marched to the door with purpose and shoved it open, a shout already coming from him.
“SANS!”
But he stopped short when he saw Sans slumped over the bar counter across from Grillby, snores escaping him as he dozed.
…What a lazybones. (Sans… had been sleeping less lately. Which was a good thing, right?)
Still, Papyrus didn’t try to wake him up. It was late, and Sans had already read to him and Frisk before he went out for the evening. Papyrus was fair! And Sans really hadn’t been napping throughout the day anymore.
The fellow bar-goers that filled Grillby’s looked away when they realized that Sans wasn’t going to annoy Papyrus with his usual infuriating antics. All except for the dog guards that zeroed in on Papyrus. Papyrus narrowed his sockets at them. No! They may be less annoying than his nemesis, but he knew they wanted his bone attacks, too. Sans had fueled their bad habits by giving them bones when he saw them.
Eventually, Papyrus’s impressiveness was too much for them, and they turned back to what they were doing! Satisfied, Papyrus bounced up to the bar and looked at Grillby.
“HELLO, GRILLBY! I’M VERY SORRY ABOUT SANS! I’LL TAKE HIM OFF YOUR HANDS!!!” Papyrus narrowed his sockets. “HE DIDN’T ADD MORE TO HIS TAB, DID HE?”
Grillby looked at him with amusement and didn’t respond.
“HE DID! I AM SO SORRY! SANS IS A MESS! HERE, TAKE THIS!”
And Papyrus reached for a bone in his inventory and slid it over to Grillby. Grillby took it with a quiet crackle, and added it to the box behind the counter that Papyrus knew was filled with all sorts of rare and amazing bones that Papyrus had given him over the years. Including the very first bone he’d given Grillby when Papyrus was 14 and trying to figure out how to pay Grillby back.
He knew Sans paid his tab. But! Grillby liked the bones Papyrus gave him! …Grillby was a rather nostalgic monster. He kept that framed photo of a Snow Grillby that some of the children in town had made him. And he kept every bone Papyrus had ever given him, even the more clumsily shaped attacks that Papyrus made when he was still learning magic.
It was tradition at this point, and who was Papyrus to ignore tradition?
Papyrus turned to Sans and leaned down to scoop him up over his shoulder. Really, Sans knew better than to be napping out here.
…But Papyrus would allow it. Just this once!
Papyrus turned towards Grillby and apologized again.
“I REALLY AM SORRY ABOUT HIM! AND THANK YOU! HAVE A GOOD NIGHT!!!”
Grillby smiled and crackled as he waved goodbye to Papyrus, and Papyrus waved back. Grillby’s food may be a grease trap, but the monster himself was very kind.
With that done, Papyrus left for the door with much less fanfare than normal. That was okay, though! Papyrus could afford to cut Sans some slack for once. He shouldered his way back out into the snow, with Sans a solid weight on his shoulder.
Sans had… not been okay. But also… very okay?
Papyrus didn’t know.
Sans was not feeling good. Guilty, and grieving, and so upset. But he also wasn’t apathetic anymore. Papyrus didn’t know if this was an improvement or not.
And the thought itched and scratched as it clawed at him. Sans was… maybe, perhaps, not as okay as Papyrus liked to pretend. (Far from okay, actually.) He was. …Falling down. Papyrus tried to shove the thought down and took in a short breath.
Sans felt heavy on his shoulder suddenly, and Papyrus took another breath in. In. And out. Papyrus was fine! Papyrus was completely fine, and thinking about Sans’s slow descent into falling down and never waking up definitely wasn’t stressing him out. He was okay! But… Sans…
Prolonged illness. Stress over a long period of time. Those would bring a monster’s HP cap down, further, and further until it dwindled to nothing. Until they would close their eyes and fall into dust.
…Apparently, Sans’s apathy counted. And every time Papyrus would check him, his HP would be lower and lower. He never had a high HP to start with. His magic was too much for him from a young age and caused him to be sick constantly when Papyrus was a baby bones. His HP never recovered fully.
And then something happened. And Sans was suddenly in charge of Papyrus. But that wasn’t when it started. No, he worked frantically, desperately for a handful of years. Until, eventually, something snapped. Sans had looked at Papyrus and told him that he was sorry. That he wasn’t taking care of him properly. That he was going to quit his job and take care of Papyrus like he should have been. That what he was doing there was useless, anyway. …That it didn’t matter.
Papyrus shut his sockets for a moment and grit his teeth. And then he opened them and stepped forward those last few steps to his front door as he opened it silently. Frisk was sleeping on the couch, and Papyrus did his best to tiptoe through the room as he brought Sans up to his bedroom.
Papyrus scrunched up his face when he saw the absolutely horrendous mess that was Sans’s room, and nudged aside some crumpled up clothing on the floor as he brought Sans over to his bed.
And then he drew away and looked at Sans.
…Papyrus had been very happy when Sans said he was going to quit! Sans was killing himself with how much he was working, and really, wouldn’t staying home with Papyrus be better anyway? (Working in a lab was dangerous. What if Sans never came home?)
But staying home with Papyrus was when that horrifying apathy that lay over Sans’s SOUL really set in, muffling him, suffocating him. And… his HP started dropping. (Was it Papyrus’s fault? Did he do something wrong?!)
Sans’s HP started dropping, and he was falling down. It… wasn’t too bad at first! Just… a few ticks, here and there. (Sans didn’t have much to lose.) But. When Papyrus got older, around the time he turned into an adult, and Sans started stepping back more. It. Gained speed. He would have a bad day, or a bad week, and more and more of his HP dropped.
Papyrus barely noticed as he fell to the floor next to Sans and reached out. But then he snatched his hand away and took another deep breath in.
Papyrus. Was. Fine!
But Sans. Maybe wasn’t.
His HP was at 10.
…He was walking dust.
And Papyrus couldn’t do anything, no matter how he pushed or pried or tried to help.
Tears built up in Papyrus’s sockets, and he took another breath in. His fingers curled into his gloves, and he clenched his teeth.
He had to check.
He had to check!
Sans was…
Sans was struggling. Papyrus had thought he was getting better. Frisk, the wonderful, amazing child, was very great! And! They helped. Sans’s apathy had been slipping away, and Papyrus felt more joy and happiness from Sans than he had in a long time. Frisk joining their family was the best thing that had ever happened. And Papyrus felt… hope from Sans.
And Papyrus finally felt hope too.
His HP stopped dropping then. Which couldn’t have come sooner. Because if Sans had lost another tick of HP off his cap…
Papyrus muffled a sob and something wet splashed onto his glove. His shoulders shook, but he still didn’t reach for Sans. He didn’t reach for the familiar magic to check him. (Papyrus was terrified.)
If Sans lost another tick of HP, he might not wake up again.
And Papyrus had to check. He had to check. Because after Frisk’s flashback, Sans had gotten sick. And he wasn’t filled with that suffocating, horrifying apathy anymore. But it might have gotten worse. Because when Sans wasn’t muffling their bond, Papyrus felt SOUL-stopping levels of guilt and horror and grief from him.
He had to check! He had to check Sans. (But what if he found what he was scared of? What if Sans’s HP had dropped again?)
He didn’t want to check.
Sans lay in front of him, dozing quietly on his mattress as Papyrus kneeled next to him and sobbed quietly enough that Sans wouldn’t wake up. (What if he never woke up?)
He couldn’t lose Sans.
Papyrus curled his hands into tight fists, and clenched his jaw shut as he tried to bite back his tears. He was The Great Papyrus, and he would do what he had to. He wasn’t a coward. And Sans would. Be. FINE!
Papyrus reached for the magic rapidly, and ripped it off like a bandaid
*HP 11/11
*He’s sleeping right now.
Papyrus wasn’t breathing.
His sockets were wide and his hands shook as he reached forward to touch Sans’s shoulder.
He was reading this wrong. Surely, he was reading this wrong. Sans’s HP hadn’t increased since he was a child.
Papyrus checked again.
*HP 11/11
*He had a long week.
His HP… 11/11. That was…
A sharp pain in Papyrus’s chest told him that he needed to breathe, and he let out a gasp of air. He checked Sans again.
*HP 11/11
*He loves his family.
Again.
*HP 11/11
*He’s not okay, but things will get better.
And again.
*HP 11/11
*He’s looking forward to the future.
Papyrus tightened his grip on Sans’s shoulder for half a second before he let his hand drop. And then a sob tore out of his throat, and he threw himself on Sans, wrapping his arms around his middle and not caring anymore if Sans would wake up.
“wha…? papyrus?”
Sans’s voice was bleary, and he tried to look at Papyrus in concern, but Papyrus tightened his grip and buried his face in Sans’s jacket, his tears soaking into the material. Sans hummed and shifted so that he was sitting up, bringing Papyrus with him. Papyrus must have startled him badly, but Sans just hugged him back.
“pap, what’s wrong?”
Papyrus never thought something so good would hurt so much. His SOUL ached, but it was the best aching feeling in the world. He hugged Sans tighter.
“NOTHING IS WRONG! IN FACT! EVERYTHING IS AMAZING! AND WONDERFUL!”
Sans hummed, and Papyrus pushed his feelings of love and happiness, and joy through the bond. Maybe he could speed it up. Maybe Sans could get even better.
Sans wasn’t falling down.
Sans wasn’t going to leave him.
Papyrus shook and he held onto Sans tightly as he sobbed and hiccupped and smiled.
Because Sans was looking forward to the future.

A restaurant server appeared to hit her breaking point after a group of patrons walked out on their $125 bill.
"To the girls that ran out and didn't pay their tab, you left your glasses, b*tch," said server Jessica Guevara in a TikTok video on Saturday. The employee, whose social media indicates that she lives in San Diego, California, has racked up over 480,000 views on the clip.
Holding up a pair of glasses to the camera, Guevara proceeded to drop it on the ground and stomp repeatedly. She snapped the eyewear in two and crushed the lenses out of their frames.
"Hope these were $125," she said in the caption.
Dine-and-dashing can take a direct hit on the livelihood of restaurant workers. Under federal wage-and-hour law, a restaurant can require an employee to pay the loss from dine-and-dash customers if it does not push the worker's wages below federal minimum wage, according to Johnny C. Taylor Jr., CEO of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).
However, certain states—including New York and California—have laws that prohibit deductions from employees' paychecks for cash shortages and other business losses.
Though some viewers were taken aback by Guevara's revenge, most still took her side.
"Girl glasses are like $300 [oh my God], my soul," commented a viewer, adding, "But go you."
"I would have just called the cops," said another user.

CHANGED for a scene from my muse's past that represented a turning point in their life
It's early in the evening, and the weather was cool for January in Los Angeles, though it feelt more like summer compared to the weather he became used to in Pittsburgh. Christmas break is quickly coming to an end, and though Ed still dreaded the cold and the snow, he couldn't wait to go back to school and be away from home and his father again. If his father's mansion of a house could ever be considered a home when Pittsburgh at it's coldest was warmer than the oppressive walls of his father's house.
Ed wasn't even sure why his father demanded he return every year for the holiday season. They didn't celebrate Christmas like his Grandparents had taken to doing, and it's been even longer since the Dillingers celebrated Chanukah, sans the few years his mother did. The only possible reason for Ed's return was to keep up appearances of that perfect family that they had never truly been.
Ed looked up from the code he'd been tracing in an attempt to debug, and across the living room to where his father was sitting in his polished black leather armchair, reading a report for his company.
"Father." Slowly, gently, Ed closed his laptop and gripped the edges of the machine so he wouldn't dig his nails into the fancy leather couch he was sitting on. He'd put off this conversation as long as he could, but unless he wanted to have it over the phone when he was back in Pittsburgh, now was his last chance.
Having this particular conversation over the phone when they two thousand miles apart would have been the smart thing to do, if it didn't feel like the coward's way out.
For a brief moment, there was stillness, and Ed hoped his father hadn't heard him.
His father looked up from the report, and across the expanse of the living room that seemed to dwarf both men to Ed.
Ed licked his dry lips, and took a sip of his sleepytime tea. It was the cheap kind bought at the grocery store and squashed into his suitcase. He didn't dare bring his usual stash of better tea, in the event that his father decided to throw it out.
"What do you want?" His father asked, becoming impatient at the interruption.
"There is something I must tell you." It took all of Ed's acting training to keep his voice clear and not to mumble. He gripped the edges of his computer, nails scratching against the metallic casing.
His father was silent, though from the look he was giving him, Ed knew if he didn't get on with it quickly, he would only irritate his father further.
"I applied an internship with Encom in October," he said.
His father raised an eyebrow.
"I had an interview for it in November, over the break. They offered me the internship, and I accepted."
Ed's father eyed him silently, and Ed sat perfectly still, hyper aware of every muscle in his body coiled with tension, and focusing on not fidgeting with his glasses.
"I see," his father said.
Ed waited. He knew there would be no congratulations, not when he applied to his father's company's largest competitor.
"You want the stipend I offered in compensation for... your services." Of course, Ed knew his father employed corporate spies to keep tabs on all of fCon's competitors, which was why he had to have this conversation with his father at all.
"No."
"You want more?" His father asked. "Surely you don't think they'll trust an intern with any sensitive data?"
"No."
"Then--"
"I am telling you so you understand why I refuse to tell you what I am working on this summer. And as a courtesy so you won't be surprised when your spy reports back to you that I am working there, and as a warning that I will report him if I discover who your spy is."
Ed's father eyed him, a slight frown on his face, and Ed held still. He didn't dare twitch a muscle, despite wanting to hug his laptop to his chest.
"So this is how you choose to repay me," his father said. "I put a roof over your head, put clothes on your back, I payed for your education, and you repay me with betrayal?"
"I--"
"--You are a worthless waste of resources," his father snarled. He stood up, and crossed the living room toward Ed.
Ed hugged his computer to his chest, putting his feet on the couch and curling protectively around it.
The older Dillinger picked up Ed's notebook, and tore out the first sheet, then the next, and the next. Ed didn't dare move, didn't dare dare protest as he watched his father tear out every page of the notebook. When there was nothing left but the covers, he took the stack of pages, and ripped them in half. He ripped the halves in half, over and over, and over until they were surrounded by shreds of paper no bigger than the size of Ed's pinky nail.
Finally, Ed's father picked up Ed's mug, and retreated to the kitchen. He made a show of pouring the the tea down the sink. "For the summer only," he said. "Next year, I will send you an application for a position at fCon. You will apply, and you will accept whatever offer you are given. Understood?"
"Yes, father," Ed responded mechanically, his voice cold and devoid of feeling.
"Good. Now go to bed. Peter will be here to take you to the airport in the morning."
"Yes father." Just as mechanically, Ed stood up, and climbed the stairs to his room.
It would be a long time before he actually slept if he wanted to catch up on his work.

[UNDERSWAP] Quotes For Every Character
I went ahead and wrote some character quotes for every significant character in Underswap (Including some characters who never initially had any concepts.) Hopefully whoever ends up seeing this enjoys them! Some characters will also include headcanons (Which I will explain along with their personality as you read.)
I'm going by the logic that each character retains some of their personality, while still giving off a swapped vibe.
Temmie Quotes:
“h0i!!11!1 im temmie! Temmie da t3m!!1!”
“By my temmie fwakes for 1g!!!”
"Dey totez don't hurt u!!111! :3"

“Do not fret, dear fallen, as it is I, Asgore, Caretaker of the Ruins.”
“If I may ask, do you prefer Golden Flower Tea or Sea Tea? I am not sure if you've had them before, but choose the one that sounds most interesting to you.”
"Would you like to try a piece of pie? I'm... unfortunately not the best at baking, but I try!"
“I am sorry, dear child. As the Ex-King of the Underground, I shall see if you are worthy of the outside world.”
Mad Dummy Headcanon:
Considered "silent, but deadly." Doesn't speak just like the Ruins Dummy in UT, but still attacks you.
Mad Dummy Quotes:
"..."
"..."
"... >:("
Mettablook Quotes:
“You’re a fan.. of me? That’s flattering, darling.. But I’m just a nobody..”
“Oh, my..”
“Oh, how I wish to be a star, but the dream seems so far.”
Papyrus Quotes:
“greetings, i'm a totally ordinary human being.” (When greeting you w/ Groucho Glasses)
"call me frank, and to be FRANK with you, i'm happy i saw another human today." (Still wearing groucho glasses)
"nah, i'm just pulling your leg bones." (After taking them off)
“hello, the name’s papyrus, but you can call me papyrus.”
"guess you should put more BACKBONE into it."
"i don't have the GUTS to stop smoking. heh heh."
“uh oh. i suppose you’re gonna have a rather unpleasant experience.”
“don’t worry, in the end, i still believe in you.”
“you really thought i’d just stand there and eat it up?
how naive.”

“YOU’RE DEAD MEAT.”
Sans Quotes:
“I’M SANS. THE MAGNIFICENT SANS!”

“I’LL STOP YA IN YOUR TRACKS, KID! I’M THE MAGNIFICENT SANS, AND I’LL CAPTURE YOU!”

Asriel is older than he is in Undertale.
Asriel Quotes:
“Howdy, Chara!”
“Don’t you think Alphys is so cool?”
“Let’s be friends!”
“Here, have this locket. A symbol of our friendship!”
Flowey Headcanon:
All of the Floweys are innocent and goofy, but speak normally. The Flowey replacing Bob would be named Rob, (to reference an Underswap co-host who went by "Coastrobbo") who speaks like Undertale Temmie. Each Flowey has a distinctive personality.
Flowey Quotes:
“Howdy! I’m Flowey!”
“Hoi!!11! im rob!!”
“Look, I have a sprout!! I’m such a proud parent!”
“DIE.” *insert struggling to wrap around Chara.* “Nevermind..”
Alphys Headcanon:
Alphys is often insecure about the way she looks at times, but she deals with it, it helps with intimidation. She still stutters due to having a speech impediment, not due to shyness or nervousness.
Alphys Quotes:
"Y-You'll have to try harder to beat me than t-that, human!"
"Oh my god, Mew Mew Kissy Cutie is on right now!!"
"O-Oh, that Dr. Undyne person? S-She's.. so cute!"
"Darn it! I'll keep you at bay with a ton of lightning strikes if I need to!"
"I-I'm always afraid of hurting people with my insane strength, or scaring them with the way I look..."
"I'm done hiding, I'm coming right for you, human!"
Regular / Ruins Dummy Headcanon:
Regular Dummy can speak, and fights you out of boredom rather than getting angry. They leave rather rude/snarky remarks towards Chara. Their attacks consist of boring things. (Idk, like dust particles, newspaper articles n' junk.)
Regular / Ruins Dummy Quotes:
"You really don't know how to keep a guy entertained, do ya?"
"You're boring me here, buddy.."
"I'm out, you're too boring."
"Wow, didn't see that attack coming, again."
"Are all humans this bland?"
Undyne Headcanon:
Less shy than Undertale Alphys, she more so just likes to keep to herself. She's nerdy and she likes to keep her things organized.
Undyne Quotes:
"Please, don't mess with any of my stuff, I worked hard to keep them organized."
"Hey, human! I'm Dr. Undyne, the Royal Scientist of TORIEL."
"Well my schedule is r-ruined now, hope you're happy..!"
"I installed a totally cool bomb-defuser thing on your phone, try it out!"
“Anyways, uh.. You want some soda?”
“Anime is amazing, I absolutely LOVE Mew Mew Kissy Cutie 2! I love it for it’s more mature themes!"
"
Napstaton / Napstablook Quotes:
"WHY DON'T WE GIVE THE HUMAN A TRADITIONAL WELCOME, DUDES?"
"LET'S GET THIS STREAM ON THE TRACKS!"
"REALLY NOT FEELIN' UP TO IT RIGHT NOW. SORRY."
"YOU KNOW I'M AN IMPENETRABLE ROBOT, RIGHT? HERE, I'LL JUST PRETEND YOU BEAT ME..” **DIAL UP SOUND NOISES, ERROR SCREEN.**
"SOMETIMES I LIKE TO RELAX ON THE GROUND AND LISTEN TO SAD MUSIC WHILE FEELING LIKE GARBAGE. IT'S A FAMILY TRADITION, BUT I DON'T DO IT AS OFTEN NOWADAYS."
"GET ANY QUESTIONS WRONG ON MY SURVEY, AND YOU'LL BE.. uh, eradicated? uh.. HAHA, YES, UH, ERADICATED!"
"oh.................. you flipped my switch."
"I totally feel up to it now, dudes!"
"I'll punch you with these awesome arms!"
Grillby Headcanon:
Grillby can speak, but just chooses not to. He has a Heat's Flamesman who says whatever he might be thinking on his shoulder.
Grillby Quotes:
"..."
"..."
"..."
Heat's Flamesman: "The boss thinks you should buy his food, OR ELSE!"
"...You're in debt, human. You owe me your soul."
Nice Cream Guy Headcanon:
Nice Cream Guy hates his life. He works in NTT's radio station room and does the sound work. He doesn't necessarily hate Napstaton, he just finds him obnoxious at times. He has a lisp, and is made fun of the way he says ice cream, "Nice Cream"
Nice Cream Guy Quotes:
“What do you need now, Naps..?”
“OH!!! Someone came to see me?”
“I’m always made fun of for the way I say ‘Nice Cream’, I have this dumb lisp.”
"Want some advice? Don't be like me. I gave up trying to own my own Nice Cream shop long ago, now look where I am in life."
Catty & Bratty Quotes:
"We're like.. SO hyped to capture you and stuff."
"Hi, my name's Catty, and this is my rival, Bratty!"
"Hi, my name's Bratty, and this is my rival, Catty!"
Catty: "Really, will ya stop finishing all of my.."
Bratty: "SENTENCES?! I think not!"
RG01 & RG02 Headcanon:
RG01 & RG02 own the shop dump. They resemble typical video game nerds who review Video Games (e.g. Nostalgia Critic and AVGN), they're still a couple and bicker about their favorite games.
RG01 & RG02 Quotes:
RG01: “Dude, like, we both know that Deltatale is better than Underrune!
RG02: “Really, brah? You have no taste.”
Toriel Quotes:
"My child, would you perhaps like a piece of pie?"
* Toriel stands silent as if she doesn’t want to do this, but she must.
MK Quotes:
"Yo, dude! It's me. Your best friend!"
Frisk Headcanon:
Frisk does not speak. They communicate using sign language. Frisk will stand there silently, and randomly jump scare you before everything goes black.
Frisk Quotes:
"..."
"..."
"..."
"..."
RANDOM JUMPSCARE.
Riverperson Quotes:
"Tra la la.
I heard the old song from the sea.
It was chanting towards me.
It drowned me in… darkness.
As if I have reached the bottom of the ocean.
I yelled… and I yelled.
But no one heard me."

Yandere Kyōka Izumi
!You are not an esper!
Another day at the agency became cancerous for Nakajima in one phrase.
-I want tofu.
Keka said in a calm voice.
-W-what..but I won’t have any money left!
The guy exclaimed, but looking into those cute bunny eyes, he immediately stood up and took the girl by the hand.
And sitting in the cafe, Atsushi was almost tearing out his hair, and Izumi was calmly eating almond tofu. You, drinking your coffee at the next table, quietly giggled and were touched by this picture.
- "Like brother and sister.."
You thought, trying not to attract their attention too much.
-Would you like to take 5 servings?
The soft and measured voice of the waitress rang over the head of Atsushi, who was nervously rummaging through his wallet.
-N-no.. probably not necessary.... Damn it, I don’t even have enough for this!
- Hmm, excuse me, do you mind if I pay for you?
You said with sympathy, already giving away the missing money for food.
Atsushi had previously covered his eyes with his palms, but after your phrase, he had to spread his fingers.
-No! It’s not worth it..
The guy was shaking, not knowing what to do, to which Keka only tensed a little but didn’t say anything, Nakajima will figure it out.
-I insist, it’s okay.
You said, placing your hand on Atsushi's shoulder, patting it comfortingly.
-What is your name?
Finally, Izumi turned to you and raised her voice.
-A..me.Y/n t/f.
-Nice to meet you, and I’m Kyoka, Kyoka Izumi.
- Mutually, okay, I have to go, good luck!
Keka just silently looked at you, and a pleasant feeling spread in her chest, she liked you.
While the girl sat and thought about how generous you are, Nakajima was still trying to recover from the fact that someone had to help them, and not burn with shame.
-Come on, it’s time for us to go to the agency.
Keka said a little seriously, it seems she really had new things to do that required technology.
-Yes, you're right Keka.
The guy agreed and went back to completing reports for his lazy mentor. That’s how you met for the first time.
You thought that you would never see each other again, but Keka got you through the melon database on the same day, of course, not without the help of Ranpo-san, but he asked for a nominal fee, only goodies, and the great detective was not interested in anything else, because he already understood everything thanks beyond deduction, but did not interfere.
Name: y/n
Last name: t/f
Nationality:Yokohama
Age:19 years
Job: waiter at the cafe "Ueshima Tadao Shoten"
Place of residence: Street 13A, construction prospectus
Keka quickly closed the tab on the computer as the director approached, but nothing, she managed to read it.
And so, from that very day, the feeling of being watched did not leave you: when you go to work, see your friends and just walk along the street. You puzzled for a long time, having already forgotten about the girl for whom you paid. And after watching you for several months, you ears fell in love with you. But she didn’t know how to tell you about it, and even get to know you, because you probably didn’t see her as anyone other than a teenager with an irresponsible relative. But when she saw the next client at the agency’s door, she realized that she still had a chance .
When you walked through the door, a tall brown-haired man almost flew up to you, with some strange smile. When suddenly you heard a guttural scream.
-Dazai, just try to start rubbing something into our client!
Said Kunikida, who seemed to be too busy with reports to come up to you. That’s why you saw only Atsushi, Izumi and that dubious guy nearby.
-Did something happen to you?
It’s clear, Atsushi forgot you too.
-If not, then I can keep you company..!
A notebook finally arrived at Osamu.
-Well, it’s such a strange situation, I have a feeling that I’m being pursued..I can no longer be sure of my safety..I’m ready to pay whatever you want.
You said desperately and timidly, Keka usually doesn’t take on such matters, but despite this, no one was surprised by her desire to help you.
-I'll take this case.
Izumi said calmly as always.
Due to the fact that the director trusted the girl to some extent, she was given this job without question. And others breathed a sigh of relief, one less job.
The next time, Keki’s job was to be with you and guard, she had to keep an eye out, trying to find the intruder of your peace. Because of this, often communicating and being with you, she was even able to plant a bug on you in order to know where you are, but this is only for your safety! And only Ranpo understood with his ability that she was looking for herself.
