Ever since I saw the movie for the 358th time a few months ago and did some loose sketches in the sketchbook I haven't been able to get Jareth out of my head. Actually I haven't been able to get him out of my head since I first saw him when I was ten, but that's another matter.

The thing is, I've been delving into his character background, writing a fic, and I needed to draw him as I imagined him in my mind. I hope you enjoy my interpretation of the Goblin King. Maybe there will be more drawings of him.

What Jareth would do when you don’t feel attractive

It’s a sixth sense; he knows when you’re not feeling like yourself. He’ll show up at your window, and enter your living quarters. He doesn’t care if you’re there at the moment, if you’re not he’ll simply just wait for you to get back.

He uses contrivance to help you feel better; whenever you say something negative or untrue, he’ll twist your words into something positive. He is a master manipulator, and very often it works.

If that doesn’t work, he’ll take you for a walk through the kingdom to attempt to clear your head. He’ll point out little things that are going on through the land, trying to get you to focus on them. He knows that it’s not a permanent solution, but the more he can distract you from your thoughts the better.

Next time you’re in the shower or bathtub, watch out because he may get in with you. While also spending time with you, he will also point out the things about your body that he loves. May also be self deprecating towards himself to put the focus squarely on you.
