I wanna share some more thoughts on it because I too am so mentally ill about demon world kdj. It's my absolute favorite arc

Like Ok ok ok my first draft is this older one from when I was just getting used to the new art style. I just thot hm he should look like shit. I love men who look like shit (but like in a gay way not an incel way)

Now this is more of a 'fancy & clean' looking version of him bc I mainly focused on A) how the stories break him apart and B) the vague derangement of his BECAUSE.

Ok I went and made two shit little doodles to show off some of my thoughts

First of all: He's keeping the stories wrapped around him like the world's shittiest necklace. And at one point it was brought up that his coat was SO stained with dirt that it almost looked black (which helped his YJH cosplay) so obviously im obsessed with that too.

The demon world arc felt like such a low point. It was so lonely and he was such a fish out of water (to a certain degree) and I think that by this point he was so stuck in survival mode that he just. couldn't. take care of himself properly

And whenever he fights its so self destructive. It's like he's losing such a massive part of himself. And he so often just falls back on his base instinct of hiding within TWSA and going "I am Yoo Joonghyuk" (But even then TWSA is changing. The story is changing.)

^^^ Specifically inspired by a scene that I rlly liked where he went and killed a random person in the market square in front of a bunch of people

He's so. Idk theres something so deranged about him. He is so very clearly barely hanging on by a thread, fully immersed in this revolutionary game, grasping at everything and anyone because he doesn't have his companions with him and he doesn't think anyone will come looking for him.

Apologising in chapter 235

First of all I don't really know how 'in norm' that is, and how much of it is just Kotaro's way of being father

But that one thing about 'don't let him in until he apologises' finally connected in my head with a moment from chapter 236

And yeah I don't know if anyone already said it so I don't know if I repeat something known to everyone!

And before we get there it's a sad thing that official English translation decided to translate it differently for some reason both first and second one

And with how it's not so uncommon for chapters to not make sense because of it it's probably that again

In official version Kotaro says that Nao and Tenko's grandparents shouldn't apologise to Tenko for Kotaro, that doesn't make sense especially with how other fan translations didn't choose it

And if you take easiest way and just translate this from original Japanese vers he actually said that Tenko should apologise and only then come home

That makes Nao's worry seem less weird because if it was Tenko's will to go home when he pleases he wouldn't stay outside without any reason

But if it's forbidden until he apologises that makes a little bit more sense

So if we're done explaining why that scene is different actually

It's important that it is, because that directly connects to Tenko trying to speak even if his voice doesn't work

He had to apologise to his Father, otherwise he's not allowed to come home

And with how he stayed outside until dark he probably didn't do it before his Quirk activated

So yeah if that scene didn't feel as bad, with how Kotaro reacted to Tenko's words... he understood why Tenko said it

So the fact that Tenko tried to get help from Kotaro only after apologising makes sense

And fact that Tomura apologised for Kotaro's hand falling is probably not so different from that, so that little rule never really left

And with how hands of his family and his Father allowed him to do everything he wanted with them close

Because he allowed himself to use his Quirk only if they allowed it

AFO said that he controlled himself not even knowing it and that's why

So that moment of Tomura destroying his Father's hand is kinda more powerful knowing this

He didn't need his Father allow him to do anything anymore

in my heart of hearts mike wheeler is absolutely an athena kid but i also have to offer up a concept that i think has extreme comedic and dramatic potential aka: repressed gay teenager mike showing up at camp half blood unsure of who his godly parent is and feeling insecure about not having powers and one day when he’s making not-so-secret heart eyes at his best friend and son of apollo will byers is when a bunch of glowing floating hearts show up above his head. and that’s how mike gets claimed by none other than aphrodite, the goddess of love and sexuality, and is in full denial about it for three days because he thinks it’s some kind of sick and twisted JOKE

(on aphrodite’s end, she’s upset mike is throwing away the gift of true love and keeps trying to trick him out of repression by making more and more improbable and hilarious gifts appear when he and will are hanging out. mike hands will a book and it turns into a box of chocolates and he has to fling it away like a frisbee before will sees it. they’re having lunch and romantic music starts playing. she gives mike the same blessing she used to claim piper and will can’t even look in his direction for a full day because he starts blushing so hard. fifty bouquets of flowers show up at the apollo cabin’s doorstep with a note that says love, mike and by the end of it, mike isn’t even repressed and unsure about his sexuality anymore — he’s just trying to not throw himself into the bonfire out of sheer embarrassment)

#also shoutout to piper mclean bc i think her arc of not believing she is an aphrodite kid bc she doesn’t fit the model for it and having #been teased and made an outcast of sorts kind of jaded her and made her actively rebel against being an aphrodite kid #i just think that is very mike wheeler of her #n then she spends five books learning what love means and what being an aphrodite kid means #again. very mike. to Me #credits to abby bc i said ‘what if mike shows up at chb and he is repressed and gay and immediately gets claimed by iris the rainbow goddess #and she said i see this and raise you aphrodite #and i said oh my fucking god.#anyways might write this.
