This is the only remake where Elias and Younes feel like central characters with their own stories. Even in OG they felt quite side character to me but I am all for Wtfocks way of framing them

Dude and I love it. Younes feels so fully formed we know so much about him. His interest how he shapes his perspective based on readings and experiences. He is also very intelligent he understands that islam can be part of people’s life and it feel right but for him he is just clear it isn’t his home but he is also totally understanding that it has good teachings and helped him shape who he is today. I love that Islam isnt framed as something bad or over zealous. I mean it shaped all of younes and his belief structure just sometimes things change and its not necessarily bad or good it just is. Both Yasmina, Aicha and Younes being resolute in their decision to approach their beliefs within their limits feels so important and honest. Like Younes said they are all trying to be good people thats the ultimate goal they are just taking different paths towards that goal. Also his music taste, all the books and the plants. God i adore him!!

january: the best performing gifset was this one paralleling two times yusuf nuzzled nicky’s neck, which had 1868 notes. 

in terms of which one was my favourite, it’s definitely this lauryssa one to finally / beautiful stranger by halsey, a really beautiful song and I loved the font and my attempt at blending here. the runner up is probably this one with dinah’s/laurel’s rings, bc I really like the colouring and think I did a decent job matching it.

february: this yusuf gifset with his hands in his pockets got the most notes, 2090, and I love that! 

my faves are probs this purple one for laurel month (bc I can never get enough purple) and this protective laurel season 3 edition bc I vibe with that shit so much. esp the one about being the protector of her family. god I feel that in my bones.

march: the one with the most notes (948) is this one for the old guard + bde, which I reckon is fitting, lol. 

faves of the month are this andy one to I see fire by ed sheeran and this immortal husbands gifset to never stop by safetysuit, bc both those songs totally slap.

april: the gifset with the most notes is this dinah (from the birds of prey movie) parallel, with 1169 notes.

faves would be this lauryssa set to an abu nuwas poem and this zari set to the song aicha by outlandish.

may: with the most notes is this harlinah bop movie comics parallel - 820 notes.

as for faves, this one about the size of barry’s arms deffo comes in at number one bc of the sheer silliness of it. I also love this one featuring various lesbians and this nora west-allen gifset to godspeed by frank ocean bc I think the lyrics of that song and colours all slap.

june: this immortal wives gifset to heaven I know by gordi had the most notes, 408, but also that song is suuuuch a good one.

my faves would be this one for breaking fast, an amazing movie about a queer muslim that I just loved, and this westallen one about them trying for a baby.

july: this westallen gifset with barry and iris being embarrassing parents in front of bart and nora has the most notes, 624 in total.

my fave was deffo this westallen gifset to 1949, the song bart sings at his parents’ wedding renewal ceremony.

august: this westallen gifset with nora and bart totally shipping westallen had the most notes, 346 in total.

my fave is iris being called “mom” (bc that makes her a milf right?) but also this one where barry and iris react to joe and bart singing is probs my fave parallel with 7x18.

september: highest notes for this month was this westallen parallel gifset with 239 notes.

my fave is deffo this breaking fast gifset bc I love the muslim visuals of it.

october: this immortal wives/husbands gifset had the most notes, 358.

my faves for the month are this lance sisters gifset to hero by mariah carey and this laurel gifset that parallels comics dinah in a wedding dress.

november: the gifset with the most note is my one and only midnight mass gifset with 732 notes.

my faves are this black siren gifset to I am not a woman, I’m a god by halsey (gotta love the purple!) and this one with iris and nora west-allen in matching outfits.

december: the set with the most notes is my sole lena luthor gifset, which tbh did surprise me. 

faves are this lauryssa set to ya’aburnee by halsey (which apparently translates to “you bury me” in arabic) bc I love pain lmao and this westallen gifset to the song kara and winn sing at the dansen wedding.

Do you still think “the roommate” will be explored? Cause it doesn’t feel like it to me…I’m almost like what’s the point adding this additional character in now. Same with the Muslim girl squad (I know they’ve filmed but clearly not a lot)

As much as they added more diverse characters in this season…they didn’t really did they? I mean the balloon squad haven’t been fleshed out, the parents haven’t been fleshed out, Elias has vanished, Aicha and Younes have had fair bit of screen time but again Aicha doesn’t feel all that expanded on to me, there could’ve been some really interesting scenes between her and Yasmina comparing their experiences but that was lost that to a repetitive mistaken love triangle.

It just feels a lot like when we got Moyo’s mum and Izzy appearing in that one scene in S4.

The representation and diversity is there on paper, but is it actually? The plot has still revolved mostly around the white people hasnt it.

You know what should have happened when Aicha stopped yasmina and asked her what was wrong in episode 8 yasmina should have told aicha then and aicha should have stepped in for Zoe and then aicha taken yasmina to meet more muslim girlfriends and all the girls be like "wtf your not wrong your friends are acting out of pocket" and then that way yasmina could have crafted a response to discuss on the friday with devil spawn and her minions being in the clip. Also agreed how can you employee so many diverse cast members and make a plot that revolves around the struggles of white women and how yasmina one of a few minorities has to apologize for exposing racism and expressing her culture. Like how the fuck did you manage that? especially when this isnt even an original script. Like my god they could have just done a strait copy of OG and this would be tons better. ITS THE FACT THEY HAD 5 OTHER EXAMPLES AND STILL MANAGE TO MAKE THIS VERSION WORSE. HOWWWWWW?!?!?! Also I do think we are going to move onto other small plots now to build into povs because we have quite a bit of time at this point. The only squads plots that now exist are planning the beach trip so and younes expansion so i do think we will get small details about other people now.
