The theme with “time” this season makes me think of the phrase, “wanting to turn back the clock.” And I then think of Will never wanting to grow up and wanting to go back to the old days of playing dnd in Mike’s basement.
And then I think of Will’s (speculated) reality altering bending powers. So could there be a possibility that Will may use those powers to “turn back the clock”?? Maybe rewrite how things happened? Maybe it would be after Mike’s “death” like you speculated earlier. Since he thinks Mike is “dead” he wants to go back, and that’s what he does accidentally.
ALSO, Hopper tells joyce that he was trying to runaway from his "past" trauma with sara- before he says that line in the letter about wanting to turn back the clock and then saying it's not possible to do so . (And that life life hurts you but eventually you get out of that cave and life goes on ). Similar to Will he wants to turn back the clock to better times, but a part of him isn't ready to accept his entire past/ the tra*uma that comes with that- in order to move on and heal for the future .
Like robin said about back to the future "he's stuck in the past .But he needs to get back to his time which is the future!"
HOWEVER- I DON’T THINK THERE’S ANY REAL TIME TRAVEL!!!!
I’ve mentioned  my time-theory many many many times- in relation to my DID theory.  even if my did theory is completely wrong (aka Will has powers so his alters/split personalities/innerworlds come to life)-
We also see how memories are explored in a supernatural way in st - it’s not literal timetravel just El using her powers to explore tra*matic memories of others (Terry/Billy so far). Like NO TIME TRAVEL PLEASE-THAT’S JUMPING THE SHARK. I really don’t want it lol. XD I think hopper and Robin's lines allude to the theme that will be addressed: confronting the past/times that harmed you but overcoming it for the future because time goes on 'whether you like it or not '.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
In reference to my time-did theory. Look at the st s4 movie inspirations. In ‘what dreams may come”  a guy explores a heaven like world influenced by a painter’s emotions/created via immagination. We also have the movie ‘inside out’ -which involves “memory islands” (distinct worlds based on a child’s memories) which are influenced negatively by the kid being depressed she moved to California. The characters traveling to these memory islands are constructs of  kid’s mind -and 1 of them also has a guide helping them explore the ‘memory islands’.  Welcome to marwen- has an artist (attacked for being perceived as gay) imagining an abstract world based off his art- where the characters he made experience their own adventures (loosely based off the artist’s trauma). ‘The cell ‘ has characters explore the mind of a guy whose father ab*sed him- and the different alternative fantasy-worlds they explore are based off his memories. The cop exploring these memory-worlds, was also implied to be se*ually ab*sed by his dad . Also,in  Inception a guy says he’s a construct of a guy’s mind ( the guy who created the dream worlds that are like alternate dimensions/levels- also hates his dad). And leo’s character says he needs to help him escape the many different levels of the dream world of the mind. Movies like inception, total recall, the cell, enter the void, wizard of oz, Peter Pan, hellraiser 2, dream warriors, bill & ted’s bogus journey, the labyrinth, and welcome to marwen, all allude to this: because they involve entering simulated abstract worlds usually created/based on happy& traumatic memories/fears. While truman show/matrix are more about realizing your reality isn’t real. While in bladerunner 2044/total recall it has the theme of false implanted memories… probably relating to hopper/el realizing they’re alters of Will’s-and their memories were technically created by him.
Something some DiD suffers have are “innerworlds” .When someone has DID there can be multiple “innerworlds” that are separate from one another (and look very different from one another) .And are usually very abstract worlds that are based on the child’s memories (good &bad) . These worlds are usually created at different times and almost act like alternate dimensions (and the inhabitants -npcs/alters of those worlds usually don’t interact with one another) . So they can almost resemble alternate dimensions like how Scott Clarke mentions “Hugh Everett’s many worlds interpretation.” Russia where Hopper is- is probably one of those innerworlds.
HOPPER THEORY:
tw:ab*se/r*pe. In s2 Nancy asks Steve how his “grandpa’s time in the war is a metaphor for your life?” And steve compares the mf to the germans in the war. Dr owens mentions Will has ptsd like “ (vietnam) soldiers’, Hopper saying he had buddies like Will . “In the 70s there was a study that compared the post-traumatic stress symptoms in Vietnam veterans and adult survivors of childhood s**ual ab*se. The study revealed that childhood s**ual ab*se is traumatizing and can result in symptoms comparable to symptoms from war-related trauma.” Hopper isn’t actually in Russia -but in one of the innerworlds (after he jumped through the rift of the machine- into Will’s mind). We’ll see flashbacks but also present circumstances of his imprisonment echo Will’s past with Lonnie (if the movies indicate anything)- being starved, guards getting payed in order to let other prisoners  r*pe a gay prisoner (than claim incorrectly because of his sexuality he wanted it) , as well as a gang of sadist men who r**e others and a warden using that as a threat to be compliant , being thrown in a dark room of solitary confinement and starved when they didn’t obey the warden, the warden being religious, etc. And the American soldiers (in Vietnam) in the movies aren’t much better and do similarly horrific acts to civilians like r**e and bragging/ happily k*lling women, children, and the elderly. The drill sergant in vietnam calling them homophobic slurs & women, and chocking one of the soldiers with one hand (like the mf/russian), slapping one for not believing in christianity. Tying up a soldier in a bed , gagging him, beating him and saying “remember it’s just a dream.” Only praising them when good in fire arms.(movies : fullmetal jacket, papillon, shawshank redemption, platoon, welcome to marwen, etc ) . My assumption is flashbacks of his life-  hints about him being an alter -the boxes in the basement are “vietnam” ,“dad”, and “ny” (and these are the memories of his we’ll see).or after escaping the prison he’s stuck in diff innerworlds of memories. And some of the bad characters in said stories will also parallel Lonnie . Like how in  the s4 film ‘peterpan’- the young girl Wendy imagines netherland and the villain -captain hook- is based off her father ( in the movie they have the same voice actors/while in all stage productions the 2 characters are always played by the same actor). Similar to the other s4 film- ‘wizard of oz’ where the wicked witch of the west from the mythical land of Oz (is played by Dorothy’s real life mean neighbor in the real world/kansas).Or in ‘the cell’- all the alternate dimensions of the dream world that were created by a guy with a ab*sive h*mophobic dad -had the same actor play the villain in each very different dream dimension. ”Not sure if they’d use Ross Patridge (actor of Lonnie) in this way . But it would be very interesting if (In makeup) Ross played many negative people in Hopper’s life.
Also, in  s2, Jonathan mentions Indiana writer Vonnegut- In his book ‘slaughterhouse 5′- Vonnegut begins the story of Billy (William) Pilgrim, a man who has “come unstuck in time”. (time ref of Hopper saying he wants to ‘turn back the clock.’ or’ runaway from his memories.‘It accounts of Billy Pilgrim’s capture and incarceration by the Germans during the last years of World War II (Hopper captured by the russians), and scattered throughout the narrative are episodes from Billy’s life with his dad, and his own wife and kids.Billy is forced to be part of the war and similar things against his free will. The moments start from his childhood when his father throws him in the water to teach him how to swim. He was unwillingly drafted into the war. Later, he is kidnapped by Tralfamadorians  (aliens that are implied to be caused by his mental health issues/trauma) against his will. Therefore, he realizes that this concept is just an illusion.in bladerunner 2044/total recall it has the theme of false implanted memories… probably relating to hopper realizing he’s an alter and his memories are technically ‘created’ . Like in total recall- the bad ass spy is told all his memories: his wife/ years of marriage,  his name, are just implanted memories. And she says “you’re life is a dream.” We also have ‘Arrival’ -the parent’s daughter died young cause of terminal cancer- and the mother later realizes time is also just a abstract construct (a thing she can experience differently than others), but she still finds meaning/happiness in those memories/times.
I also talked about how sarah as an alter could come back and the 2 would explore the “innerworlds” of Will’s mind together (you can read the details there).
El and Will theory
I’m thinking of the s4 movies and 1 matrix scene comes to mind that could be an obvious hint to Did (and Will’s importance). Mr smith (the suited calm villain/ who is a literal computer program of the matrix world -cough alter/npc of Will’s) kidnaps/ ties up Morpheus to a chair (like Will in s2), injects him with drugs in the neck ( like s3 steve/ will’s arm in s2).  Then Mr smith says as everyone leaves the room “I’m going to be honest with you. I hate this place, this prison, this reality or what you call it.” (grabs Morpheus’ head and glares) “ I need to get out of here! I need to be free! And this mind is the key.”(referring to morpheus).morpheus also translates to ‘god of dreams’. Also Morpheus was wearing head gear similar to El in s1/Will in s2 . or in 12 monkeys the guy sent to psych ward -starts believing he’s just “crazy” and says “i created a world with those people in it.” “It’s not real .I’m just mentally ill, like you said ” when you know- it is all real, cause of the supernatural angle involved. in 12 monkeys a patient even tells him the fictional world he created would dissappear once his mental health was in order.
Then there’s the El stuff.  Hellraiser 2- has a normal psych hospital, but the basement floor has an evil psychiatrist experimenting on teens to open a portal to another reality. assasains creed/dream warriors -  has the psychiatric facility be similar to the s1 lab with sensory deprivation tanks, cameras, solitary confinement in dark rooms. The doctor experiments on them- and forces a character to go into the memories of another individual (we know El has memory powers). The dr reveals how the character’s reality/whole life isn’t what they think it is (and that the memories they saw with their powers-was their past life and they are that person’s reincarnation) . Aka Will is the host- and El is an alter (alters can see memories of other alters/the host irl-aka billy/terry were also alters ).
In assasain’s creed there’s 2 psychiatrists- one bad / one who is good (but influenced by the bad dr). One dr annoyed at the lack of progress, says about the patient “he doesn’t want to remember his father.” While one dr doesn’t want to rush the therapy/ the other dr wants the patient to go back into his memories regardless of how it affects him. (which could be Brenner & maybe Owens referring to Will’s dissociative-amnesia and not remembering all the ab*se Lonnie did. And Owens not wanting to rush it/hurt el by making her go into said memories …but Brenner not caring.
also other hints : Cough s4 using the movie wizard of oz refs “we’re not in Hawkins (kansas) anymore”-hint at russia. David on instagram posting st stuff and captioning it with and quotes, pretending to be dorothy from the film. Hopper in s1 saying hawkins lab was “emerald city” (referencing El- it’s also why they reference El entering our world in ep 1 and the alice in wonderland song plays) . Murray says about the supernatural “no one wants to see behind the curtain” (what was behind the curtain in wizard of oz-was a wizard aka Will). Or you know right before Will sees the mf for the first time -a clock turns rapidly/ he  has goosbumps at the back of his neck. Which he later grabs/states  are from “memories” he can’t remember that are like a “dream”.
If i’m right-not sure how much of this may happen in s4 vs s5, though. But I think something like this is possible.  For all we know-Will/El being trapped with Brenner while Hopper escapes ‘russia’ could be how the season ends? The timeline i’m a bit iffy about-tbh.

Pick Up Games - A 90s Avengers Fic
Synopsis: In a universe where Carol Danvers stays her ass put on Earth and the entire MCU takes place during the greatest decade, I present to you: the Avengers in the 90s, playing street ball
Pairings: Carol Danvers/Maria Rambeau, BestFriends!Maria Rambeau & Sam Wilson, Implied Sam Wilson/Bucky Barnes, V Subtle BlackHill
Warnings: Allusions to the traumatizing singing animatronics at Chuck E. Cheese
Word Count: 1,156
-----
In 1996, Sam Wilson is always wearing his Scottie Pippen Chicago Bulls jersey.
“MJ would be nothing without Pippen,” he constantly and confidently explains to anyone who will listen. “Every Michael needs his Scottie.”
Sam thinks he’s a much better basketball player than he actually is, but he can hold his own if he can keep his trigger-happy hands from launching an unnecessary three-pointer in pick-up games. He’ll maybe make one per game (and will consider himself the next Steve Kerr because of it), but he makes up for it because he’s the absolute king of assists.
Sam and Carol Danvers lead the charge to get some S.H.I.E.L.D. agents and the Avengers together to play pick-up every Saturday morning at the closest park. Maria and Monica Rambeau always dutifully watch from the bleachers (the former acting like its her greatest weekend inconvenience, though they all know she loves it). Monica insists on bringing the boombox, acts as the official DJ as she switches back and forth between the local hip hop and classic rock stations, because Carol swears nothing gets her in the game like glam metal.
Steve Rogers can always be seen nervously pacing the sidelines (he doesn’t think it’d be fair if he and his bulging chest join the game; besides he’s always been more of a baseball kind of guy), acting as the unofficial referee, no matter how many times they explain to him that the very nature of street ball is no rules.
“I just don’t want anybody to get hurt,” he whines with a pout so unintentionally puppy-like that they can’t help but keep letting him ref.
They call Bucky Barnes “the silent assassin” because you forget he’s there until suddenly he’s dropped twenty buckets on you out of nowhere. He grumbles every time Sam smacks his ass after a good play, but they all share secret smirks at the way he also flushes.
Rambeau alternates between heckling Sam every time he bricks a shot and hollering, “Hell yeah, that’s my best friend!” whenever he does his signature fake right, dish left to a wide open Hawkeye who sinks the three or lobs a perfect ally oop to Thor for the slam dunk.
Speaking of Hawkeye, Clint Barton is absolutely useless unless he’s behind the arc. Can’t dribble worth shit, but no one’s ever seen him miss a shot. Not ever.
Natasha Romanoff doesn’t play but can always be found wearing the shortest shorts anyone’s ever seen as she lounges on the bleachers, bobbing her head to the radio and trading jokes with Monica. When the game ends, she husks out a ‘good game, boys’ until an insistent cough draws her attention to a playfully glowering Maria Hill (who is an absolute beast on defense and in the post with that delightfully long torso of hers).
Without fail, Natasha flashes her the kind of smirk that’ll make you have to gulp down an entire gatorade in one go.
“But of course as always, the ladies did it better.”
“Thank you.” That would be Carol interrupting the moment. She’s the self-proclaimed captain every week and takes pick-up games way too seriously. Peter Parker’s no longer allowed to play with them because everyone’s afraid her competitiveness with crush his tiny little earnest spirit.
Carol’s absolutely radiant when her team wins, though, immediately beelining it to the bleachers to hoist a cheering Monica onto her shoulders as she quirks an eyebrow at the girl’s pretending-not-to-be-impressed mother.
“Don’t I get something for winning?” Carol baits.
“Yeah, you get to follow this ass to the car so you can buy us lunch.”
There’s a chorus of “oooohs” and Carol pouts until Rambeau breaks down and plants a kiss on her lips. Monica scrambles off Carol’s shoulders to leap into the arms of an approaching Sam (in a frankly very dangerous maneuver that Maria side eyes with pursed lips) as they all head for the parking lot. Bruce Banner - who shows up late and smothered in sunscreen - consoles a ruddy faced Thor with an awkward pat on the back, because the God of Thunder is absolutely a sore loser.
(“These silly Midgard games have nothing on the grand arena events we’d hold on Asgard each century! There I am the undisputed champion!”)
Carol and Maria jump into their neighboring convertibles, playfully competing to see who can get Monica to ride with them until the girl proclaims “I want to ride with Uncle Sam!” Carol gapes and Maria rolls her eyes fondly as Sam triumphantly cackles.
“You raising her right, Rambeau,” Sam teases. “She knows quality when she sees it.”
Carol putting her middle finger on display in his direction just makes Sam laugh louder as he carries Monica over to his trusty blue Camry, followed a little too close by Bucky (everyone does them the courtesy of pretending not to notice). Steve throws his ham-hocked leg over his Harley, and the rest pile into Barton’s mini van (Natasha forgoes claiming her usual assumed position of shot gun to instead press her thighs against a self-satisfied Maria Hill in the backseat).
They make their way to Chuck E. Cheese for lunch because let’s be real, Monica calls the shots (and Sam honestly likes their pizza, he doesn’t care how the super soldier Brooklyn Boys give him shit for this “blasphemy”). Tony Stark, Pepper Potts and little Morgan Stark meet them there and Stark spontaneously decides to buy a birthday party package, even though it’s nowhere close to anyone’s birthday and the Chuck E. Cheese is technically already fully booked for the day. But he’s Tony Stark - like they’re really gonna say no. With a slice of pizza in one hand and a fountain coke in the other, Tony babbles on about how he could improve the animatronic technology to make it less creepy.
“I better not go into the garage later and see one of those things,” Pepper warns as she warily eyes the stuttering movements of robotic Chuck and gang as they sing an honestly not terrible cover of the Beatles “Eight Days a Week.”
Carol and Monica go on a rampage through all the games and absolutely clean out the place, earning enough tickets to win a huge Captain Marvel plushie that Carol cheekily gifts Maria (who rolls her eyes but secretly pulls out to cuddle against every time Carol’s called up to space for long periods of time) and Thor talks excitedly about the nine realms with a creature he swears he recognizes from space until Bruce has to gently point out that it’s just a human in a giant rat costume.
That night, Carol gets an AOL instant message from NicholasNotNickFury:
NicholasNotNickFury: thanks for inviting me to your little Saturday pick up games
CaptainHotStuff: but we didn’t invite you
NicholasNotNickFury: IT WAS SARCASM DANVERS
The end.

Life Lessons Part 2
Natasha Romanoff x Kid!Reader
Word count: 1058
Part 1   Part 3
Requested by: Anonymous
You had always been pretty accident prone. Every single one of your childhood pictures features some sort of bruise or scrape. You knew it was bad when your mom couldn’t even tell you how most of them had happened.
When you were about 10 you played soccer, you were an average player, but your mom never missed any of your games. It always made you feel cool when her team would come, what other kid could say they had the Avengers on the sidelines cheering for them?
It’s halftime and you’re standing on the sidelines with your family.
“Mama, did you see when we scored?” you ask excitedly and she smiles, picking you up and setting you on her hip.
“I did, love. You’re doing so good!” she encourages and you smile at her.
“You are, kiddo! Are you having fun?” your Uncle Tony asks and you nod.
“I like it when you guys come!”
“We like coming too, y/n,” Steve says before your coach calls you over and your mom sets you down.
“Go on, love. Have fun!” she calls after you as you run off.
You line up and the half starts. You and your teammates pass around the ball and try to make it into the goal before the other team gets the ball and does the same. It was a bunch of 10 year olds playing soccer, nobody ever said it was entertaining.
After a few minutes you get the ball and start dribbling towards the goal. You grin when you hear all your uncles cheering you on from the sidelines. You pull your leg back to shoot and the next thing you know you’re sprawled out across the field. The entire field goes silent as you begin to push yourself up. You grab your shin guard from wear it fell out of your sock a few feet away and brush the dirt off your face that seems to have broken your fall. You hear the ref blow the whistle and before you can stand up Thor is lifting you into his arms.
“No! I’m fine! Uncle Thor I can still play!” you argue as he carries you over to your mom who’s standing with your coach.
“Young y/n, you are bleeding. You need assistance,” he says, setting you next to your mom on the bench.
“No, mom! I wanna play!” you argue and she sighs brushing some dirt out of your hair.
“I know sweetheart, but your leg is bleeding. You can go back in soon,” she says and you huff, crossing your arms.
xxxxx
You’re 15 when you’re riding your skateboard home from MJ’s house. It’s a nice day and you convinced your mom that you’d be fine on your own. You’re riding down the street when a car swerves slightly, it wouldn’t have hit you, if you hadn’t swerved at the same time. Your left arm smashes into their side mirror and you fall off your board. The teenager behind the wheel immediately jumps out and runs to your side.
“Oh my god! Are you okay?” he asks as you sit up.
“Yeah, yeah. I’m fine,” you reassure him before standing up to grab your board.
“Are you sure you don’t want me to call an ambulance or something?” the poor kid is terrified and you shake your head.
“I’m sure. It’s just a bruise, I’ll be okay,” you say before riding off.
xxxxx
When you get home you immediately go to the kitchen, trying to grab the advil from above the sink. Before you can get to it your mom walks in and you step towards the fridge, trying to hide your intent.
“Hey kiddo, how was MJ’s?” She asks and you smile.
“Great!” you answer a little too quickly and she raises an eyebrow.
“Are you sure you’re okay?” she asks, grabbing your arm. You wince and she frowns, “take off your sweatshirt.”
“Mom-”
“Take. Off. The. Sweatshirt.” she says and you sigh, pulling the hoodie over your head. Natasha sees the large bruise that’s already forming. “Y/n, what happened?”
“I hit a car” you say softly.
“You got hit by a car!” she yells and you shake your head.
“No I hit a car. It was barely moving and it’s just a bruise! I’m fine!” you try to reassure her, as if that makes it better.
“Y/n, you need to be more careful. I should throw that damn thing out,” she says and your eyes go wide.
“What? Mom, no!” you yell and she sighs.
“I’m not really going to throw your skateboard away, love. But you need to be more careful, okay?”
“I will.”
xxxxx
You huff as you walk into the school doors. It’s snowing and as pretty as it is, it’s a bit of a hassle. You shove your coat in your locker and make your way towards your first period class. You’re walking up the stairs when your boot slips on the melting snow. You start to fall and before you know it you’re at the bottom of the stairs.
“Y/n! Are you okay?” Peter asks and you nod as you go to get up. As soon as you put pressure on your left leg you let out a yell and fall back to the ground.
“Okay, nope. I am not okay.”
“I got you, you’ll be alright,” Peter lifts you up and takes you to the nurse.
“Pete, can you call my mom?” you ask as he sets you down on the cot, you turn to the nurse to explain what happened.
“Hey, Ms. Romanoff. It’s Peter. Y/n hurt her leg pretty bad… yeah… I think you should come get her… okay… see you soon.” he says before putting his phone in his pocket, “she’s on her way.”
xxxxx
When you get home from the hospital you hobble into your room with your crutches and fall onto the bed. Your mom helps you prop up your leg with a pillow before she sits next to you.
“Do you need anything?”
“A non-broken leg would be nice,” you say with a laugh.
“How about some water?” she offers and you nod.
“Hey mom,” you call and she pokes her head back into your room, “told you you’d believe me if I told you I fell down the stairs.”

Drunken Nights

Chapter Four (Three) (Two) (One)
Like usual, the Gryffindor common room was abuzz with activity before the big game. It was the second week of November, and students were itching to get into the Quidditch season. Some students were chanting, but there were so many different chants happening that it just sounded loud.
Remus was tucked into his favorite cushy chair in the corner of the room, watching the events unfold in front of him.
There were some students painting lions on each others faces near him, but everyone was jumping around so much that the lions ended up looking like yellow and red blobs. Some kids were pulling on their Gryffindor hats and zipping up their coats in preparation for the cold.
Of course, right smack dab in the center of the room, was Sirius and James along with many of the other Quidditch players. They were jumping up and down, surrounded by dozens of students who were all chanting excitedly.
Remus rolled his eyes at the display, with a smile on his face, and returned to the book he was reading.
“Ridiculous am I right?” A soft voice said from next to him.
Remus jumped; an old habit that he never seemed to be able to break. He turned his head and instantly knew who it was by the bright red hair tumbling down in a braid. Remus smirked and glanced at the boys.
“Yeah,” he agreed. Remus turned back to Lily. “Are you going to the game?”
Lily crinkled her nose in a very Lily way. “I’ve been roped into going. Mary’s playing, and Alice didn’t want to go and watch alone.”
Remus laughed because he understood all too well.
“You too?” Lily said, her eyes shining.
“Yup. Maybe we can all sit by each other?” he offered.
Lily looked excited by the idea and nodded happily. “I’d like that.”
Remus didn’t get a chance to respond to her because suddenly James was there, smiling brightly at Lily.
“Hi Lily! You going to the game?” he asked, trying to sound nonchalant, but Remus could hear the hope in his voice.
Lily smirked at him. “Yeah, but I’m going for Mary.”
“I’ll take what I can get,” James said, bouncing on the balls of his feet like he always did when he talked to Lily.
Sirius wasn’t too far behind James, and he joined the group with one of his award winning smiles. He took a seat on the arm of Remus’ chair, so Remus scooted over, knowing that what Sirius actually wanted was to sit on the chair with him.
The moment Remus scooted over, Sirius dramatically tumbled off of the arm, falling into Remus’ lap.
“Oh get off you big oaf,” Remus said, pushing Sirius up a bit.
Sirius laughed and slid over so that they were squished onto the chair together. It was a big chair, but Remus had to admit that it worked a lot better when they were younger.
“Did you hear that there’s going to be a party after the game?” Sirius asked.
Remus pulled his hands into the sleeves of his sweater, balling the fabric between his fingers and narrowed his eyes at Sirius. “Isn’t it going to be a little late for a party?”
“Yeah. It’s a secret party.”
“Well how many people know about it?” Remus asked.
“Most of Gryffindor, a few Ravenclaws, and a lot of Hufflepuffs,” Sirius listed.
“That doesn’t sound very secret.”
“The professors don’t know about it. Or the Slytherins.”
Remus shook his head and laughed. “So what happens if you lose?”
Something near the center of the room became louder, a series of cheers growing up and bouncing off the walls. Remus assumed that the team must be leaving to go warmup.
As Remus turned back around, he noticed that Lily was actually still talking to James, which might have been an all time record for conversation length.
“All the more reason to party!” Sirius called over the noise. Remus was confused for a second before he remembered his question. He gave Sirius a look that he hoped said, you’re very stupid. “You’re coming, just so you know!”
“Sirius, I can’t go to a secret party!”
“Why not?”
Remus rolled his eyes, leaning in so as to be heard over the sound. “You do know I’m a prefect right? That’s the type of thing that I’m supposed to stop from happening. Not participate in.”
Sirius leaned in too, but he didn’t say anything. He just smirked.
“What?”
“I don’t know. It’s just a little funny considering Lily’s coming. She’s a prefect too, right?”
Remus shook his head in disbelief. No way was Lily Evans going to this so called “secret party”. Before Remus could even deny the fact, James turned away from Lily, grinning from ear to ear.
“Yes! She’s coming!” He yelled.
From somewhere across the room Sirius and James’ names were being called. They needed to head out for warmups. Sirius stood up, but he didn’t follow James to where he was heading.
Instead, he turned around to face Remus, putting both hands on either side of the chair. Sirius leaned in right up to Remus’ ear, his breath hot against his face. Remus suppressed a shiver and held his breath.
“You’re coming too,” Sirius whispered, and with no other words, he left.
Remus stared after him in disbelief. He tried to tell himself that Sirius had only done that because it was so loud in there. Why else would he have done it? But then how come he didn’t just shout like all the other times? Remus shook his head, knowing there was a reason for it, and not the reason that he wished it was.
He tried to get his mind away from the moment, but it kept coming back to him, playing over and over in his head. He didn’t have to dwell on it long because suddenly Peter was there, a bright smile on his face and a small Gryffindor flag in his hand.
“Ready to go? I want to get good seats,” he said excitedly.
Remus nodded, standing up shakily, and taking a deep breath. They caught Alice on their way out, so they all went down to the pitch together.
Both teams were already out in the air to warm out.
The Ravenclaws were running air drills, taking turns zooming down the pitch and then coming to a complete stop near the goals. Some of them did a couple flips in the air as they went, and others passed the Quaffle back and forth as they shot forward on their brooms.
The Gryffindors were doing scoring drills, passing to each other, and taking turns scoring on their Keeper.
Remus sat between Peter and Lily and watched as the stands began to fill. There was an excited energy around them as students took their seats for the first game of the year. Remus put on a pair of ugly lion gloves that Sirius bought him for games in their second year because his hands always got cold. At the time the gloves had been way too big for him, so they still fit him now.
“Hi. Sorry,” A voice said from Remus’ left, alerting him that someone needed to get by on the stands.
He stood up so that they could pass. It was two girls that Remus was familiar with. The one who had spoken was Sara Brown. She was a Gryffindor that Remus had met in Transfiguration class.
As she passed, the second girl came into focus. Amanda Davis was a Hufflepuff that Remus met in the library once when she needed help finding a book. When she got the book, though, she had joined him at a table to study. Every once and a while, Remus and her studied together or hung out when they were in the right groups.
Amanda smiled at Remus when she saw who he was. She had a nice smile; it was one that actually reached her eyes. They exchanged greetings as she passed, and Remus turned back again to look at the pitch.
“Who was that?” Lily said, nudging Remus in the arm.
“Hmm? Oh that’s Amanda, she’s one of Sara’s friends,” Remus explained, knowing that lily was friends with Sara.
“Yeah, obviously. How do you know her?” Lily responded.
“We study together sometimes. She’s nice.”
“She’s really pretty,” Lily added.
Remus turned to look at Lily. “Yeah she is pretty,” he said skeptically.
Lily didn’t say anything for a second, and Remus wondered if that was the end of the conversation, but then Lily said, “So is she your type?”
“God, Lily,” Remus said, rolling his eyes. “All it takes is me saying hello to a girl for you to start asking questions like that.”
“Oh come on! You won’t go out with any of my Gryffindor friends.” Lily looked at Remus like she was about to give one of her famous speeches.
“Honestly, Remus, you could probably get a lot of girls. I hate to say this, but as much as I dislike the whole Marauders thing, it’s crazy the way girls talk about you guys. Plus, you’re really nice, and girls like that these days. I mean you are kind of dorky with your sweaters, but you’re really attractive now too.”
“Now?” Remus interrupted. “Thanks Lils.”
“I don’t mean you didn’t used to be attractive.” Remus narrowed his eyes at her. “You’re just… more attractive now.” Lily said unconvincingly.
“It doesn’t matter anyways. I’m not interested in Amanda.”
“Not even a little bit?” Lily pushed.
“Nope.”
Lily crossed her arms and watched the small players zip around the sky, her face in a pout. Remus laughed and also turned back to the players.
His eyes caught James flying much above everyone else. He was going in tight quick circles around some imaginary post. He stopped where he was going when the announcers voice took over the speakers, telling that the game was about to begin.
The players all joined each other in the center, waiting for the ref to release all of the balls and tossup the Quaffle. Once the game began, the players were off, and the announcer was speaking at speeds that Remus didn’t think the players could achieve on their brooms.
Gryffindor gained possession of the Quaffle right off the bat, and the chasers twisted and turned around the Ravenclaws, making their way down the pitch. At one point Sirius got the Quaffle, and the crowd cheered wildly for him as he got closer to the net.
Remus couldn’t help but admire the way that Sirius flew. He flew the way that he socialized at school: with an easy confidence that made everybody want to watch him.
Sirius passed the Quaffle to Mary, who went to score, but the Ravenclaw Keeper deflected it.
The crowd began cheering loudly, and it took Remus a second to realize why. A good distance above the game, James was zipping straight down towards the ground in a way that made Remus’ stomach flop just watching.
James’ flying was much different than Sirius’. He was good. Really good. But whereas Sirius made it look easy, James made it look like a battle. He flew for his life and put every ounce of energy he had into it, and the audience could tell. Remus never saw James look more focused than he did when he was playing. Except maybe for when he was flirting with Lily.
The game went on for a bit, and the Ravenclaws were up 100-40. The crowd was starting to lose its energy. If James caught the snitch now they would win, but they wouldn’t have gained many points for the long run considering that the end of the year cup was based off of the team with the most overall points.
Nevertheless, the crowd was itching for the snitch to be spotted again. Even as Sirius scored another point, Remus could hear in their cheers that people were starting to get nervous for the snitch.
The Ravenclaw seeker, Bertram Aubrey, saw it first this time. There was a flash of red as James fought to catch up with Aubrey. They were neck and neck, and Remus wished he could see what was happening better. The announcer was calling things like this is it, the moment we’ve all been waiting for. If he blinked, Remus might have missed it because suddenly the crowd was on their feet. James had pulled through and caught the snitch at the last second.
Peter and Lily were cheering loudly next to Remus, so Remus stood up with them, laughing at Peter when he began jumping up and down and screaming, “I love you James!”
“What were you saying about the Ravenclaws not losing a single game?” Remus teased Peter.
“I don’t care what I said. That was awesome!” Peter yelled.
As they were leaving the game, Sara and Amanda caught up with them. Sara started talking to lily and Alice, but Amanda fell in step with Remus and Peter. Remus felt awkward with Amanda now that he had had that conversation with Lily
“Hi, Remus,” Amanda said.
“Hi, how are you?” Remus responded politely.
“I’m good,” Amanda looked down at the floor and then back up at Remus almost sheepishly. She had extremely long dark hair that was falling in her face a bit. “So, have you heard about the party happening?”
“Umm,” Remus said, thinking about how Sirius had demanded Remus go. “Yeah.”
“Cool, I was, well I was wondering if maybe you were going?” Amanda stuttered.
“I don’t know. I feel like as a prefect it might be sort of strange if I go,” Remus laughed.
“Oh right. Well we can go together if you want? It might not be strange then,” Amanda offered. Remus didn’t mean to, but he must have made a face because Amanda quickly added, “Of course we’d go as friends! It just might be fun to hang out there, or whatever.”
Remus smiled at Amanda. “Yeah, that would be great,” he said politely.
“Okay. Cool.”
Amanda smiled and ducked her head again. Eventually she was pulled away by Sara, and she waved Remus goodbye, saying that she would see him later. Lily looked at Remus with the eyes of someone who had just eavesdropped.
“Don’t say a word,” Remus said before she could say anything.
“You just got a date to the party without trying at all!” Peter exclaimed for Lily.
“It’s not a date. You heard her. We’re going as friends,” Remus clarified.
“Suuure,” Lily, Alice, and Peter said at the same time.
Remus sighed and didn’t try to fight them on it. As they all headed back up to the castle, he tried not to think about what James and Sirius would say when they saw him and Amanda at the party together. He might never hear the end of it.
Then again, he thought maybe it might be a good thing because James always seemed to be bugging him about finding a girl. Not like he had found a girl or anything.
Remus sighed to himself as they made their way up the hill, already dreading the night that was about to come.

Pairing: Dad!Tony x Stark!Reader x Peter
Warnings: Slight bullying, mention of loss, struggle near the end.
Summary: You are Tony Starks daughter and Peter is one of your good friends. You don’t like to be helped until one day, when you aren’t able to refuse it. Even Tony might need to ask for it, a lot of it, to help save you.
A/N: This is where it really gets good. I loved writing this chapter, I hope you guys enjoy. I’m super pumped to get the next couple out, I love the idea I have on how this all plays out. Please let me know what you think, leave comments, reblog please, if you want to be on the tag list let me know :)
Catching your breath, you try to focus on something that is not the handsome boy right in front of you. “I’m kinda hungry, wanna eat?”
You immediately start heading to the side of the pool, you glance at Jackie and roll your eyes. She smiles back at you and sends a little wave, she was very proud of herself. Grabbing the side of the pool you pull yourself up. You were soaked, hair pressed against your neck and back, you think you look like a mess and as bonus you are extremely flustered. You bite your lower lip to hide a smile, not letting it show that your stomach was going crazy with butterflies.
Everyone starts making their way over to the food. Walking over to the towel rack to dry off first Peter follows you. You grab a towel and wrap it around you so you can try to get warm, bringing your hair around to one side and giving it a little twist to stay in place. You look up to Peter, he has the towel pressed against his face to dry off, his clothes are dripping. He takes his hands away from his face, looking right at you. A little laugh escapes from both of you. “Thanks a lot” You look away, feeling you start to blush.
“Anytime (Y/N), I mean I know how you hate to lose” He started getting flustered. “I, um, I should go inside. Mr. Stark wanted to go over new tech and things.” He starts to back away and go inside. The realization of what just happened starts to take over him.
“Hey Peter, leaving already?” This time it was Alyssa’s voice calling out to him. She takes a couple steps closer to you guys, away from the rest of the team.
Peter nods “Um, Yeah. I should really get back to work.”
Alyssa pouts her lower lip in disappointment. You know she won’t let it go this easy. “Will you be at the game tomorrow? You should come. It’ll be fun, you can see Stark here in action too.” She looks over to you, smiles then focuses back on Peter with a smile across her face in amusement of what she is doing.
He stood silent for a moment as he looks between the two of you. His eyes were wide and his mouth hung open trying to figure out what to say. “Yeah, ah sure. I mean if you want me to” He focuses back onto you to make sure you are okay with it.
You are frozen trying to find a way not to seem to eager for him to come. “Of course, I know my dad and Pepper will be there too.”
“Okay, cool. Cool” Peter starts to relax his shoulders. He looks behind him inside the house. “I should really be going though. Bye” Waving to everyone then to you specifically, a smile appears on his face as he runs inside. You think about how lucky he is that there are spare clothes here for him just in case for the whole spiderman thing.
Making your way over to the rest of the team to eat, everyone is staring at you. All ready to start pressing you for details and getting you to admit that you like him. Taking a deep breath in anticipation you dread what is about to come.
“Stark, you are stopper. Nothing should get passed you, if you see an opportunity to go up take it.” Your coach started giving out starting positions. “Sam, you are starting in net. Alyssa and Maria, you are my outside defense. Holland you are sweeper, stay behind Stark you are her back up. Jackie and Sara you are starting strikers. Take your shots. Julia, McClain in the wings. Lauren and Jaz you are my inside mids”
Everyone nods and run to the field to start pregame warm ups. You had the captain armband as usual so you guide warm ups. For the most part everyone has it down pat so it was pretty easy. The forwards are warming up the keeper, midfield and defense are doing long passes and working on movement. The referee blows the whistle, signaling the coin toss. You pass the ball and alert them you are leaving. “Jackie, come join me for the toss.” You call out, waving her to follow you. It is better to have two of you there, just because you can and most teams do anyways.
In the center of the field you meet two players from the other team. “Oh hey look who it is, its little (Y/N) Stark.” One of the other girls crosses her arms and straightens up to try to intimidate you. “Shouldn’t your dad or someone be here to protect the little princess”
You could feel your blood start to boil. “Okay sweetie” You try to belittle her the best you could, you aren’t the best at snarky comebacks, you didn’t get that gene from your dad. “Lets see who needs help after the game, okay?” You raise an eyebrow and press your lips to be intimidating. Finally the referees are joining you.
“Okay girls here we go, home team gets to call it in the air” He gestures to the other girls, then starts the coin toss. Flipping the coin,
“Tails”
The ref catches the coin and flips it onto his hand, “Tails it is! Do you guys want to kick off?” He looks over to her,
“No, we will give it to them first” She smiles at him trying to act like she wasn’t just a bitch to you. “They’ll need it” The bitch looks over to you acting all cocky.
You just grab Jackie and walk back to the team. “Wow, that was bad” Jackie starts to laugh, “You really need to take some notes from your dad. It was embarrassing”.
“I know, I know. Shut up.” You laugh trying to brush it off. Thats when you look over in the stand and see your dad and Pepper waving at you to let you know they were there. Your dad was standing and waving both hands to make sure you saw him. Waving back to let them know you saw them you notice Peter sitting next to him. You blush, he actually came. You never thought he actually would.
“Ohh look who it is” Lauren comes running up to you, making a face as she moves her eyebrows. She is really excited for you, knowing that something must be between you guys to get him to come to the game.
“Oh my god shut up” you turn away, brushing it off focusing on the game. You couldn’t help but let out a little smile and you bite your lip.
Everyone gets into formation as the ref blows his whistle to start the game. Sara scored a goal ten minutes in giving you guys the lead. The game is going good, your defense is keeping them in front and away from the goal. The ball is at the other net, their keeper is doing a goal kick. You are on the top of the center circle, the way she is standing and her positioning makes it obvious she is going to send it up rather than a simple pass. Her foot collides with the ball sending it towards your new friend a few feet away from you. Running over, the ball is clearly going over her head, not even a header is possible for her. You position yourself where the ball will come down. Jumping up , you cock your head back and bring it forward to hit the ball mid air. It hits your hairline and its sent over to a midfielder. Before you hit the ground you feel something smash against you, sending you flying to the side. You hit the ground hard, landing on your arm and sliding a foot or two. It hurt, your arm burned from the grass and there was a pain in your side from the impact. The wind was knocked out of you. Rolling on your stomach to lift yourself up easier you see your dad in the stands.
He is standing up with an angry but concerned look on his face. Poor Pepper looks terrified, her face looks like she just witnessed a murder. Next to them Peter has a worried expression on his face, looking like he wants to run on the field to make sure you weren’t hurt. Suddenly there is a hand on your back, its Maria trying to help you up and make sure you are okay. “I’m fine” and in typical (Y/N) fashion you ignore the hand that is reached out for support and get up yourself. You give your dad a look and nod your head so he knows you are okay. He likes to overreact anytime you are possibly hurt, he sits back in his seat relieved. Your breathing was still heavy as you try to regain control.
“Not as strong as you think you are huh?” it was that girl. Of course she would be the one to play dirty and make contact when the ball isn’t in your possession. You just shoot her a dirty look, not having it with the game she is playing. “Maybe thats why the rest of the Avengers left. They didn’t want to be associated with you weaklings” She then gestures to your dad in the stands and backs away.
Your blood is boiling, you could feel the anger build up inside you. You are not about to let this bitch get away with this shit. It’s your free kick, she got a yellow card for her dirty play. You grab the other defenders “Lets so what we did in practice that one day”
They give you a concerned look, “Are you sure? We only did it once and it could have been a fluke” Holland spoke up shyly.
“Yeah, I wanna try it” You start backing away towards the ball. Alyssa joins you, once the ref gave the signal you pass it to her a few feet away from you, it draws in one of their players, sending another towards the net. Alyssa passes it back to you and you take off down the field. Another player starts coming towards you to stop your momentum, you keep running but leave the ball for Maria who is right behind you. Everyone was in shock at how well this is working so far. Maria starts off to the center of the field and once someone is on her she passes it back outside to Jaz. You make your way to the net, getting ready for what should come next. Jaz brings her leg back and sends an air ball towards the corner of the net. Right where you are waiting, you only have one defender on you. Giving a little push you get in front of her, you jump up and lean your head to the side once the ball is in range you head it right into the net.
Everyone is running to you cheering. “I told you it would work!” You scream at the other defenders.
“Thats my girl!” You can hear your dad screaming as he jumps up in the stands. He always gets so excited when you score a goal, being a defender it doesn’t happen much, he is always excited for you though. Pepper is clapping and cheering along with him. Peter is smiling, he notices you looking over and gives a thumbs up.
As your running back to your side, you see the bitch. “Oh I’m sorry what was that?” you tilt your head and give a big smile knowing how pissed she is right now. Her face is red with anger, you focus back on your team and laugh.
There are only 10 minutes left in the game and the score is three to zero, and that girl on the other team is mad. Her team gives her the ball, she doesn’t waste anytime as she tries to get down to your net. She is running hard, you are faster than her so you get a few steps in front of her. Your feet leave the ground and you turn your body to land in front of her, making full contact with the ball, none on her, the ball stops at your feet and she goes flying over you. Her face slams against the ground and she slides. You quickly get up and get control of the ball, passing it up the field and away from your net. Turning around you see her start to get up, blood is dripping off of her face. It was just a bloody nose. You keep your laughs in. Karma is a bitch. Her eyes are glued to you in rage, luckily for her the ball is out our bounds. She starts making her way over to you, she looks like she is about to punch you. You stand confidently, she has nothing on you, it was a clean and legal slide tackle. If she would make a move you could easily use what Natasha taught you and kick her ass.
The ref steps in and sends her off the field because of the blood. Can’t play soccer while bleeding. Deciding to keep it classy you smile and give her a wave as she walks away.
Winning 3-0 is pretty good for your first game of the season. It feels even better knowing you put that bitch in her place.”Hey Stark” Jackie grabs your shoulder, “Wanna go to Jimmy’s Diner? We are all going to go eat and hangout”
“Yeah, let me just tell my dad”
“Don’t forget to say hi to lover boy” She laughs as you walk towards the stands. Jackie always thinks she is so funny. You raise an eyebrow and pinch your lips to the side looking back at her.
“Hey, great game sweet heart! What was that girls problem?” Your dad gives you a high five.
“She was just rude, I don’t know what her deal was.” You decide not to tell him about the comments she made, it would just hurt his feelings thinking that he was the reason she acted that way towards you.
“Well I’m glad you showed her who’s boss” His eyes were so big with joy that you took care of her yourself. He knows you are strong, he loves seeing you stand up for yourself and not take shit from anyone. You give him a big hug.
“Good game (Y/N). You, uh, you did real good” Peter finally speaks up. He is almost hiding behind your dad, clearly a little embarrassed about coming and giving the impression that there is something between you guys.
“Thanks Parker, glad you came.” You also tried not to reveal to much, not sure exactly what is with the two of you. Nothing has been said or anything, but something is there. You can feel it.
“Hey, everyone is going to Jimmy’s for dinner. Its okay if I go right?” You bat your eyes and smile up at your dad.
“Yeah alright.” He caves and rolls his eyes knowing you have him wrapped around his finger. “But I want you home by 10. Got it?” He tried acting serious, like he wasn’t under your control.
“Aww thanks dad! I love you!” You jump up to give him another hug. You can feel him exhale as he rolls his eyes. He pats your back as you let go from the hug.
“I love you too” Your dad smiles as he starts to walk towards the parking lot. “10 o’clock or I send a search party after you”
Peter and him continue walking, however Pepper hangs behind with you.”So, Peter...” Looking at you, raising an eyebrow. You know what is coming, she obviously knows something is up. Your eyes grow wide as you hold your breath in anticipation. “You like him don’t you” She smiles to make you feel more comfortable.
“umm... I mean... I don’t know. Maybe” you stumble on your words, trying to come up with something to say. You didn’t know what to say, you were lost at the moment.
Pepper’s face now reads ‘Really?’ knowing that you actually like him, she can read you like a book. Finally she speaks, “Well he likes you.” That grabs your attention, staring at her to focus in on what she is saying. “I saw him with you yesterday, and for him to come to your game today. It’s pretty clear.”
You are in awe at what she is saying. Could he actually like you? Maybe it wasn’t all in your head. “Are you sure? I mean maybe he is just being a good friend.”
“I don’t think so sweetie.” She sits on the bleacher, “I see the way he looks at you, and no guy would do the stuff he does to just be friends. You like him to, I can tell.”
You try to hide your face from her. “Pshhh, I mean he is pretty sweet.” You blush “I do kinda like him I guess. Its just... You know. He is Peter Parker, he works for dad. Plus we both know dad would NEVER let me data anyways”
Pepper laughs, “Don’t you worry about your dad, he wants you to be happy. Plus I can talk some sense into him if needed. Who cares about who he is though, so he works for your dad. That shouldn’t hold you back from being happy.” Pepper pulls you into a hug.
You love these talks with her. It’s nice having a girl to talk to who actually knows what they are talking about rather than another teenager. “Thanks mom.”
Realizing what you just said you freeze. You are in horror, you always viewed Pepper as a mother figure but never said anything about it not knowing how she feels. A feeling of guilt also took over, your mother died when you were a baby. You don’t remember her at all and you always feel the guilt of not remembering her or replacing her. Your stomach was in knots. “Pepper I am so sorry!” You held back tears, pulling away from the hug. Looking up you see she is crying. You turn away, rest your face on your palms in embarrassment.
“No, no. Oh honey” She moves closer to you, making you look at her again, “I’m so glad you see me that way, I see you as a daughter. Thats actually something your dad and I wanted to talk to you about.” You look her back in the eyes, letting out a few tears as well. You give her a confused look, wanting to hear more. “Well, with the wedding and all. Since we already have that type of relationship, we were hoping you would want me to officially adopt you.” She gives you a slight smile anticipating your response.
Your eyes light up, a cheerful expression comes over you. “Really? Of course! I would love it.” Pepper hugs you again in joy. Even though you are so happy to officially have her as a mom, you think of your real mom. Thinking if she would be happy, you don’t really know anything about her. She wasn’t with your dad at all, it was just a fling. He wasn’t even with her the short few month you were with her, he found out about you once she died and someone came forward saying he was the father. You imagine she would be okay with you being happy, Pepper was great. She tried hard with you without letting you walk all over her. Always being there when you needed her.
“I’m so happy to hear you say that (Y/N).” Pepper tightens the hug before letting you go. The two of you laugh looking at each other, both in tears and emotional. You wipe away your tears. Pepper looks so happy, almost happier than you’ve ever seen her before. In this moment you’ve never felt so loved. Someone wanted you, they chose you. She wants to be your mom. “You better get going if you want to make it to dinner on time. I cant wait to tell your dad, I hope he isn’t mad I asked you without him. I’m sure he will get over it though.”
The two of you stand up, “I’m sure he will be fine. Thank you Pepper” the excitement starts to consume you. Giving you a nod and a smile she starts to walk away. “Pepper!” You call out to her before she gets too far. You run up to her and hug her tight one more time. “I love you”
“I love you too (Y/N)” she wraps her arms around you and kisses your forehead.
Dinner was fun, you had your usual order. At 9:30 you decide to head home. Jimmy’s Diner is out in the suburbs, and you live in New York so it is a good distance away. It was your usual spot to go after games with the team and you are the only one who lives that far really anyways. As you leave you debate on how to get home. Your blasters are in your backpack because you can’t wear them during games, you aren’t in the mood to dig them out though. You decide to walk to clear your head since it is quiet out here and you’ll take a bus or call happy when you get closer to the city.
The long walk was nice, the cool breeze felt good blowing through your hair. It was relaxing, there aren’t people out walking at his time so its nice and peaceful. You start to let your mind wander. The thought of Peter jumped into your head. Thinking about what if he really does like you, what does it mean? You start imagining different scenarios, how this could all play out. Images of him taking you to homecoming, his arms wrapped around you holing you close as you sit on the couch and watch movies, and they two of you being happy together.
Then your mind goes to Pepper, she is actually going to be your mom. She is already basically your mom but now its official. There is going to be actual papers saying that she is yours.
Something suddenly covers your mouth. You were so focused on your daydreams you lost focus on your surroundings. Someone is holding a cloth to your mouth and nose. You hold your breath all you could, knowing something is on it. Your arms and legs start going crazy trying to get away. The strong arms around your stomach aren’t budging. You hit him though, right in the nose, you can see blood on your hands. Luckily it isn’t yours. There were a couple of them, you don’t know how many, focusing on trying to get loose. Your lungs are starting to hurt, you know you can’t hold your breath any longer. You stop fighting, and reach into your hoodie pocket. Grabbing your keys, you find the keychain your dad got you. You’ve never used it before but now you had no choice. You flip the clasp on it and press the button. Thats the last thing you remember.

IS BAPTISM SIMPLY AN ACT OF OBEDIENCE?---BY STEVE FINNELL
Is baptism essential to receive forgiveness of sins or is it simply an act of obedience?
Mark 16:16 "He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. (NKJV)
Baptism is essential to forgiveness of sins.
Acts 2:38 Then Peter said to them , "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. (NKJV)
Baptism is not simply an act of obedience it is in order to receive forgiveness from sins.
ACTS OF OBEDIENCE THAT ARE NOT FOR FORGIVENESS OF SINS.
1. Attending worship services.
2. Acts of evangelism.
3. Financial support of the Lord's church.
4. Doing good works.
5. Loving your neighbor as yourself
Simple acts of obedience are not in order to the forgiveness of sins.
ACTS OF OBEDIENCE THAT SAVE MEN.
1. Faith: John 3:16
2. Repentance: Acts 2:38, Acts 3:19
3. Confession: Romans 10:9-10
4. Immersion in water: Marl 16:16, Acts 2:38, 1 Peter 3:21, Acts 22:16
BAPTISM IS NOT SIMPLY AN ACT OF OBEDIENCE. THERE IS A DIRECT CORRELATION BETWEEN BAPTISM AND SALVATION
WATER BAPTISM DENIERS BY STEVE FINNELL
Water baptism deniers claim that you can ignore Mark 16:16 because some of the earliest manuscripts do not include Mark 16:9-20. The problem is there are 60+ Bible translations that include those verses. I know of no English translation of the Bible that omits Mark 16:9-20. Yes, these same deniers have Mark 16:16 in the Bible they read. That does not keep them from explaining away that truth of Mark 16:16.
Mark 16:16 "He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. (NKJV)
If the deniers cannot convince you that Mark 16:16 is not the inspired word of God. They will deny that "and" is a conjunction.
And Defined: A conjunction is used to grammatically coordinate words, phrases, or clauses.[Ref. Dictionary.com]
Examples
1. Mark 16:16  He who believes and is baptized will be saved..(NKJV)
2. Acts 2:38 ...Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins...(NKJV)
3. You need an engine and gasoline to start your automobile. You cannot start your car by the engine alone.
4. Your doctor says you need surgery and a blood transfusion in order to live. You cannot live by surgery alone.
5. You must have a house with walls, and a roof and a heating system to keep your house warm in winter. You cannot keep warm by a house with walls alone.
Denying that the Bible includes Mark 16:16 does not prove that water baptism is not essential in order to be saved.
Denying that "and" is a conjunction does not mean that you can have your sins forgiven without being baptized in water.
It takes a skilled professional to convince men that immersion in water (that is baptism) is not essential in order to be saved from the penalty of sin.
Honestly seeking God's truth trumps the erroneous teaching of skilled professionals every time it is tried.
DOES PREACHING THE TRUTH PROMOTE HARMONY AND UNITY?----BY STEVE FINNELL
Does preaching the Biblical truth found in the new testament Scriptures lead to harmony, unity, and acceptance by the world and by believers in Jesus Christ? No, it does not.
Matthew 10:34-36 "Do not think that I came to bring peace on the earth; I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. 35 For I came to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; 36 and a man's enemies will be the members of his household.(NASB)
Anyone who has the audacity to preach or teach
the truth as found in the new testament Scriptures will not only be criticized by family members, but ostracized by fellow Christians and the world as well.
The truth in Christ promotes conflict with those who reject God's written word.
Jesus was crucified for not only preaching truth, but for being the Truth.
Eleven out of the twelve apostles were executed for preaching the truth.
Truth that causes conflict.
1. Teaching that immersion in water is essential to salvation. (Mark 16:16)
2. Proclaiming that Jesus is the only way to heaven. (John 14:6)
3. Teaching that is a sin to worship by praying to the Virgin Mary.(Matthew 4:10)
4. Teaching that Christians can lose their salvation.(1 Timothy 4:1-5)
5. Teaching that Christians should avoid those who cause division by teaching false doctrine. (Romans 16:17)
6. Teaching that men have the free-will to accept or reject the gospel. (John 3:16)
Preaching God's truth does not promote peace among those who do not love the truth.(2 Thessalonians 2:10 and with all deception of wickedness for those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth so as to be saved.)NASB
TRUST GOD OR NOT? BY STEVE FINNELL
When Christians are ask if they trust God; most would respond in the affirmative. Do Christians really believe God is trustworthy?
How do Christian respond when asked, do they believe the Bible to be the inerrant word of God? For many, the trust, in God starts to wane at this point. An all too common reply, is of course the Bible is God's word, however, the Scriptures were recorded and translated into other languages my mere men. We know men make mistakes.
What is mystifying to me is how believers in Christ can proclaim that they believe God created the heavens and the earth, but do not believe God has the power to direct men to record and translate His word without error. Would that be a God you could trust?
Matthew 4:4 But He answered and said, "It is written, 'Man shall not live on bread alone , but on every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.'" (NASB)
Jesus said men should live on every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God. How would that be possible if the Bible is not the infallible word of God?
1 John 2:3 By this we know that we have come to know Him, if we keep His commandments.(NASB)
John said we know Jesus if we keep His commandments. If the Bible is not God's incontrovertible truth, how can we know we are keeping the commandments of Jesus?
THE GOD I WORSHIP HAS THE POWER TO PRODUCE A BIBLE THAT IS INERRANT, FACTUAL, INFALLIBLE, FREE FROM ERROR, LITERAL IN HISTORICAL ACCURACY, TRANSLATED CORRECTLY, AND YES, INSPIRED BY GOD HIMSELF.
There those who agree that the Bible is the inerrant word of God but then state that you have to be a Greek, Hebrew, and Aramaic scholar to understand the meaning of Scripture.
In order to understand the Bible you have to understand whatever language translation you are reading. If English is your first language then you should use an English translation, if German is your primary language then read a German translation, if you are Greek then read a Greek translation etc.
It is not ironic that they do not believe you have be a Greek, Hebrew, and Aramaic scholar to under Joshua 10:13, however, in order to understand Acts 2:38 you have be not only have to be a Greek, Hebrew, and Aramaic scholar, but an English professor as well.
Joshua 10:13 So the sun stood still, and the moon stopped, Until the nation avenged themselves of their enemies.
The "scholar police" accept Joshua 10:13 at face value; as well they should.
The "scholar police" believe you have to be a Greek scholar and an English professor to understand Acts 2:38.
The "scholar police" have an agenda. There goal is to convince the world that water baptism is not essential to have sins forgiven.
Acts 2:38 Peter replied "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ so that your sins may be forgiven. and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.(The Thompson Chain -Reference Bible NIV)
You do not have to be a Greek scholar or an English professor to understand what "so that your sins may be forgiven" means.
Acts 2:38 Peter told them, "you must repent  and every one of you must be baptised in the name of Jesus , so that you may have your sins forgiven and receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.(The New Testament in Modern English by J. B. Phillips)
If you have a fifth grade reading level you are capable of understand the meaning of "so that you may have your sins forgiven."
Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Let each one of you repent and be immersed, in the name of Jesus Christ, in order to the remission of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. (The Better Version of The New Testament by Chester Estes)
"In order to the remission of sins" means the same thing whether you are a Greek scholar, a professor in English or a novice Christian.
Acts 2:38 Peter said to them, "Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.(NASB)
It does not matter if you are a Greek scholar, or an English professor; "for the forgiveness or your sins" means exactly what it says.
DO NOT LET THE "SCHOLAR POLICE" CONVINCE YOU, THAT ONLY AN ELITE FEW CAN UNDERSTAND THE BIBLE.
CONTRARY TO THE "SCHOLAR POLICE" WATER BAPTISM IS ESSENTIAL TO HAVE YOUR SINS FORGIVEN!

vanderpump rules, season six, episode fifteen: jax taylor is an irredeemable demon who should be ashamed of himself
The episode opens at Sexy Unique Restaurant, where Sandoval’s arrived early to work on cocktails for TomTom! Both Lisa Vanderpump and I are shocked to learn that he’s a) arrived early anywhere and b) working on something he doesn’t have to be. I have the lowest image of all of the people starring on this show so expecting them ever to go above and beyond is a hard pill to swallow. I mean, I genuinely thought Tom&Tom were going to go to a bunch of cocktail bars and just jack all of those recipes1. Lisa wants to make sure that Tom Sandoval is on his best behavior because Nick Alain2 is coming into town and Lisa doesn’t want anything to get muddled in the process. Lisa wants Tom to know that the designing and organizing and generally knowing how working a job is all on her, and he just needs to stand still and look pretty.
Michelle Branch can tell him a thing or two about that.
Over at The Phoenix, Lala is introducing Stassi to the first black people she’s ever met, Lala’s music producers. One of them is named Blk Elviz, and the other is Sean2, and they’re both very fashionable and aesthetically pleasing. Of course Stassi uses the word “y’all” as soon as she meets them because code switching is real3. Blk Elviz is wearing a leather jacket that I envy so greatly I know that thing was $600. They’re getting ready for Lala’s performing and scouting the space. Stassi’s not concerned about the musical aspect but really creating a vibe and… you know, event planning. What bothers me is that the music producers are kind of just there to be there, and really, they should be asking more questions than Stassi is. What are the acoustics like? Are there going to be sound engineers? If Lala’s performing outside, will the audio be swallowed up?
I should be doing this job. Jusssayin. Stassi only listens to showtunes and reggaeton. Stassi loves Les Miserables, as most white people do.
Stassi and Lala sit down to split a giant pretzel and discuss girls’ night. Stassi’ really trying to listen and communicate with Ariana but Ariana’s not having it. Stassi’s not okay with feeling shamed for calling out bad behavior and feels no need to apologize. I agree with Stassi - she was made uncomfortable by Jeremy, and she told Ariana such, and Ariana doubled down on her anger. I don’t know if anyone else could have expressed that sentiment to Ariana, either. Unfortunately for Stassi, Ariana’s hatred of her makes her blind to the possibility that Stassi could ever be correct or have feelings worth validating. When Stassi says she’s not apologizing, Lala calls her a gangsta bitch.
That’s a little too far, Lala. We’re not going that far today.
Ugh, we’re at The Tomb of Jax Taylor, or Jax and Brittany’s apartment where it immediately starts with them bickering over the couch and to top it all off, Kelsey, Jax’s financial dominatrix - I mean, reiki coach, is coming over, and Brittany’s gotta skedaddle for a bit. Brittany’s a little jealous because Kelsey is not only good looking but she’s providing something to Jax that Brittany not only doesn’t know, she doesn’t even understand what it is. I mean, if I was a little concerned about that, I would take Kelsey aside and, you know, ask her about the process that my boyfriend of two years is making and how she’s helping him. These sessions aren’t just for him, BRITTANY.
I notice at this moment that Jax is wearing a Saturdays are for the Boys shirt. When did this become a thing? According to Know Your Meme it’s from a thing called Barstool Sports. I thought Barstool Sports was the game I played when I was trying to get laid in college and would post up at a bar for a few hours. But no, apparently it’s not even a game! It’s a podcast!
Jax loves Kelsey because she literally breaks him down and rebuilds him. I’m glad Jax is feeling the way he’s made women feel for 500 years. He’s ful of anxiety about the whole idea of the trip. Oh, and apparently someone offered Jax a job.
Gfdajfgdkl;sslfhdsjklfdshfkjdslfhdsf’dsfasdfdsfjdslfkdsghalkds;fjdsgfdajfgdkl;sslfhdsjklfdshfkjdslfhdsf’dsfasdfdsfjdslfkdsghalkds;fjdsgfdajfgdkl;sslfhdsjklfdshfkjdslfhdsf’dsfasdfdsfjdslfkdsghalkds;fjdsgfdajfgdkl;sslfhdsjklfdshfkjdslfhdsf’dsfasdfdsfjdslfkdsghalkds;fjdsgfdajfgdkl;sslfhdsjklfdshfkjdslfhdsf’dsfasdfdsfjdslfkdsghalkds;fjdsgfdajfgdkl;sslfhdsjklfdshfkjdslfhdsf’dsfasdfdsfjdslfkdsghalkds;fjd gfdajfgdkl;sslfhdsjklfdshfkjdslfhdsf’dsfasdfdsfjdslfkdsghalkds;fjdsohmygod AHFDHAGJFKLDHGLASJKHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA
No.
Jax Taylor did not get offered a job in Florida. No. He’s like “I get to be around sports all day” It’s apparently a job in hockey doing social media and marketing. I have friends who work for stadiums. No. This is not real. He’s mad that Tom & Tom have an opportunity so he’s going to pull a Ryan Howard and move to Miami. Miami, Ohio, that is, where this job likely is. That somehow makes Jax both Kelly Kapoor and Ryan Howard simultaneous and I don’t think this is what Greg Daniels and Michael Schur wanted.
And even so, why would he take this? I’m sorry, Jax has it made. He’s easily pulling in a mid-range six figures from this show, Instagram ads, and appearances alone. And he wants to give all of that up to live in a swampland and make, what, 60k a year? And even so, the Tampa Bay hockey team is really good. I can’t imagine them hiring a 75 year old who’s never had a job and didn’t go to college to study this. Sorry. I call bullshit.
My friend Celia’s doing reiki treatment right now for chronic pain, and she says it’s really working for her, so I’ll hold my tongue regarding Kelsey and what she does, because I really don’t have any knowledge and experience. What I can say confidently is that Jax is going to try to fuck Kelsey, and Jax will use reiki as an excuse to blame Brittany when he does so. That I’m sure of.
Brittany returns and Jax gushes over Kelsey, of course. He’s like “she’s amazing, my days are better after I see her,” and Brittany wants to help, and Jax immediately starts pitting Kelsey against her. It’s actually effortless. Brittany’s like, “Tell me what she does so I can try to help you,” and Jax is like “she’s just not like you at all in every single way, she makes you look like trash.” The appropriate response would for Jax to explain how Kelsey’s helpful so Brittany can learn, but no. Jax hates Brittany so much at this point and is literally taking every step possible to make her feel like shit. He tells her she’s not patient with him, and Kelsey calls Jax Jayson.
Brittany asks why Jax doesn’t want her to all him Jayson, and Jax is basically like “I’m trying to know Jayson and who I was before I became Jax.” Brittany. He is literally telling you he doesn’t want to be the person you’re dating anymore. He’s going so far as to change his name. Everything with Jax is a fucking transaction. That’s why he’s pitting this woman he’s known for a few weeks against his live-in girlfriend of two years. Does Jax not realize that Kelsey’s mostly being so kind ot him because he’s paying her, not because she actually likes him? And that she’s showering him with positivity and false platitudes like she’s RuPaul? Jax is that guy at the strip club who wastes his entire retirement fund because that’s the only way he can feel good about himself.
At this point the Trump administration should just hire Jax, he’s a member of their tribe of Transactional Relationships.
Jax tells Brittany about this fake madeup job in Tampa. After he’s told Kelsey already. Jax is that friend who gets an idea in his brain and is 100% in on the idea without considering the reality of the situation. He tells Brittany to her face that right now he doesn’t see anything holding him back and there’s nothing there for him - the implication being that being in Los Angeles with her was the problem. He doesn’t want to be Peter Pan anymore… but as soon as Brittany’s like “great, I want you to grow up, too,” Jax gets mad. She’s giving him support and agreeing with his opinion but he doesn’t want that. The minute Brittany agrees reminds Jax that his behavior isn’t just for him, it effects other people. That’s why he’s like, “God, just say yes. Not ‘you’ or ‘me’ or ‘I’ or ‘us’.” He literally tells her not to talk about the way his actions affect her, positively or negatively. She tells him that she has opinions too and she, in fact, doesn’t have to just stand there and say ”sounds good, honey.” Kelsey, who I only hate because she’s enabled and provided a sociopath with the tools he needs to continue his abusive behavior, told Jax that he needs to put himself first because he never does anything for himself. Brittany rolls her eyes at this entire notion, and so do I.
Brittany will never leave this man. She loves him and she truly believes everything she has will go away if she chooses to leave.
Because the producers want to give us an example of a healthy, functioning relationship, we’re over to Scheana’s apartment where she’s hanging out with her true love - her cat. Oh, and Rob’s there and Scheana’s “made food”4. Scheana immediately pretends like she wants what’s best for Brittany and wants her to get her mojo back by fucking a ton of other dudes. Rob, forever the voice of reason and rooted in some sense of reality, reminds Scheana that Brittany has agency and if she doesn’t want to break up with Jax, Scheana can’t force that to happen. Scheana clearly sees herself in Brittany and thinks Brittany’s just afraid of being alone and would rather stay miserable than be alone.
As soon as Scheana starts on this path, Rob is like OKAY LET’S TALK ABOUT THE ONLY REASON I DATE YOU, to get publicity for the app I’m starting! It’s an e-commerce site where divorced people can selll their shit.
I am literally sitting next to my roommate who works in e-commerce and if she wasn’t paitiently working I would ask her on a scale from 1 to Offset cheating on Cardi B how stupid this idea is.
“The Divorce Closet”. Not everything is a business. Isn’t it a crime to sell someone else’s things without their consent? How is this not just Nasty eBay?
Scheana so admires Rob’s work ethic in creating a brand that literally caters to only her. I don’t want to buy Shay’s broken snowboard or your old Indique hair extensions, Scheana. They’re looking at logos, Scheana’s asking about copyrights, and Rob’s like “well, I have majority equity and you’re the face of the company.”
Read: I make all the money and you do nothing. Get this shit in writing, Scheana. He’s fucking you over. But then again, Scheana is so dickmatized and love-blind that it wouldn’t be romantic to go through all the nitty-gritty of contracts and whatnot with Rob. Rob can install a television in seven minutes and he would never screw over Scheana in The Divorce Closet. She’s so distracted by his baby blue eyes and how much she wants to marry him.
I don’t feel bad for Scheana. We’ve seen Scheana’s delusion in action before - remember when she was convinced Shay’s substance problems could be fixed by him just not drinking as much? Or how after one therapy session she thought all of their problems were fixed? Scheana sees these men as her saviors and her biggest enemies. Shay wasn’t perfect but god damn, I don’t think he deserves the on-camera humiliation that Scheana puts him in week after week. It doesn’t reflect poorly on him. It reflects poorly on her.
Lisa Vanderpump is kissing a horse. She’s at the stables riding Prince Tardon, her sexy horse. Brittany arrives and she’s terrified because she hasn’t rode a horse in forever. These are nothing compared to the tiny horses Brittany has on her farm in Kentucky. Brittany brings up the fact that things with Jax aren’t as bad as they had been in the past, and that she’s even planned this trip to Mexico for them. Why? What is the point of this trip? Lisa asks her why she feels the need to make it all better and celebrate him when he’s done nothing but treat her like crap, and it’s an entirely logical question. Why isn’t Brittany torturing Jax more? Brittany thinks Jax just needs to get away. She wants Vacation Jax. Lisa doesn’t understand why Jax is doing reiki and basically calls bullshit. She doesn’t understand why he’s not going to a convetional therapy.
Lisa tells Brittany she needs to look after herself and take care of herself. Lisa doesn’t understand why she puts up with it, doesn’t see anything changing any time soon.
In effect, Lisa is trying to tell Brittany that she won’t lose everything - she won’t be fired from the show - if she decides to break up with Jax.
We’re back at Tom Tom, and Tom Sandoval is wearing one of the ugliest shirts I have ever seen. Lisa, Ken, and The Toms are waiting for Nickel Lane, Lisa’s restaurant designer. They’re putting a fucking pendulum in TomTom. What is he doing? They want it to look like the inside of a clock inside TomTom. I guess TomTom will just be a long metaphor for how fleeting time can truly be, tick-tock, tick-tock. Sandoval has created some cocktail ideas for the restaurant, one including scorpion chili5. Lisa loves them. Tom finally got some sort of approval.
Over at Stassi’s, she and Kristen are packing their bags for Mexico. Kristen has a dearth of sequin tank tops with spaghetti straps. I love that Kristen is the most consistent person on earth in terms of her fashion choices. T-shirts with “romantic” or “funny” phrases, sequin tank tops, jeans. Wash, rinse, repeat. Stassi’s not excited to be rooming with Kristen because she’s a disaster of a person.
Lala got a spray tan, so he’s ready for Mexico.
Jax has a matching shirt and pants, and Ariana is bringing 100 bikinis.
We get a plane/shots/van/hotel montage, and they’re staying in one of my favorite locations I think I’ve seen on reality TV. Poor Peter has to room with James, and I bet he’s mad he agreed to go on this trip. I really don’t know what’s worse - the idea of James Kennedy having a hotel room to himself or being his roommate. All the rooms in the hotel are nice, but Jax and Brittany’s suite is the best one, it even has a private pool. Jax is wearing a NASCAR shirt, he deserves nothing.
We get an entirely unnecessary scene of Katie and Tom gushing over how happy they are in their relationship and how this first year of marriage has been the easiest and most fun time ever. They give a montage of all of the great moments these two have had as a couple who definitely should have gotten married, but it’s okay, they can eat $10 peanuts now.
Jax and Brittany are skinnydipping and shaming Peter and James for not having their own pool. Brittany mentions to Jax that he seems to be in good spirits and in a good mood and he’s like, “yeah, that’s Kelsey.” To the face of his girlfriend who arranged (along with producers) for this trip for his birthday in the suite she set up. God, I fucking hate him.
Are these people not allowed to leave the hotel?
Stassi and Kristen are trying to come to terms about their arrangement and basically having respect for each other’s space and desires. Stassi tries to tell Kristen that after 2 AM if she’s asleep, let her sleep. This is clearly a problem that’s happened before, and Kristen called Stassi selfish for not staying up all night partying for Jax’s birthday. Honestly, when my friends are going to bed and I’m wasted, I’m tucking them into bed and getting Goodnight Moon out. Kristen seems like the type to wake you up by pouring a glass of water on your face and calling you a bitch.
Stassi especially wants Kristen to stay away from their balcony, particularly with tequila.
Sandoval is ironing a shirt and complaining that it’s harder to get ready in Mexico because of the weather. He’s exfoliating, using less pomade, and somehow he adapts. Somehow.
Jax is 95% going to take this job in Florida and is going to tell Tom & Tom tonight. This is Brand New Information to Brittany, who is right to be upset. They’ve had one conversation about it and Jax is like “you knew this, I told you.” If it’s the same conversation we all saw, he told Brittany but there was no discussion about the reality of of it all. It was more of a “this is a cool thing that happened to me today,” and now it’s a real thing. I HATE THIS MAN. Jax doesn’t understand why Brittany wants to stay in LA and Jax immedaitely goes on the defense. Brittany points out that this is not a overnight decision at all, but to Jax it is. He’s making choices about their future without asking her, and he doesn’t see anything wrong with that.
Tumblr media
Can you believe?
Jax is so abusive, I really can’t with him. He’s trying to isolate Brittany by doing this. The fact that the first thing that came to mind in terms of reasons to stay in Los Angeles is “we’re not staying for friends, we’re not children.” Who has been the most vocal regarding Brittany breaking up with Jax? Her friends. This is so tragic, bordering on disturbing. He is trying anything he can to make sure that she cannot make choices for herself. He cheats on her and she’s supposed to blindly support him and not say anything or stand up for herself.
Jax honestly needs to get a blow-up doll. Jax is the prime candidate for one of those sex robots. You know how in come countries they castrate pedophiles? Jax Taylor should be forced to never interact with women ever again once he gets his sex robot. We will all be better off.
Jax keeps saying this is his dream and he fully thought Brittany was on board, and Brittany basically is like, “what about my dreams, Jax?’” He never once considered her feelings in all of this, he assumed she would follow him anywhere. He has clearly made up his mind in the way he’s talking to her - there’s no reflection on what she’s saying, he honestly just thinks she’s upset because they’re leaving Los Angeles. Yes, Brittany can be a bartender anywhere, but right now, she’s being a bartender in Los Angeles and she’s okay with that. He thinks she’s going to force him to give up his dream, but he’s never considered hers.
Why does she stay? I really don’t understand why she stays. I really, really don’t. At this point, it’s just sad. I get it, you love the lifestyle he provides. But she can’t grow with him. And honestly, if she’s staying with him after he cheated, she doesn’t get to bring up the fact that he cheated over and over again to win arguments. Jax had done an abundance of awful things that should be thrown in his face, but she told him she forgave him and was trying to move past it. She can’t move past it if she’s continuing to weaponize it.
Ugh, did I just defend Jax?!
For some reason we get a scene of Lisa Vanderpump at Sexy Unique Restaurant, saying hello to Billie Lee and yelling at someone for their not-sexy plating. There are some good bartenders behind the bar for once and they get their time in the spotlight, finally. One is Daddy Bae Adam and the other is WeSley.
You’re probably wondering why I capitalized that S. The response is that it’s not pronounced “Wisley” like you’re used to. The S is emphaised - WeS-ley. Daddy Bae Adam wants to see about moving from barbacking to bartending, and Lisa is immediately skeptical. Lisa’s like, yeah, you’re cute, but can you muddle for five hours straight, because that’s what the Sexy Unique Bartenders are expected to do. I’m not making this up. There one-third of the cocktails on the Sexy Unique Website for Sexy Unique Restaurant have a muddled ingredient. I am now concerned for Ariana’s wrists. No one else’s.
Sorry, though, Lisa. Adam is far too hot to keep behind the bar and not in front of it. Why are you letting Jax, a bag of steroids disguising itself as a person, be one of the faces of your bar? Lisa asks Adam to make her a mojito, and he fucks it up right away. He’s better than Jax ever could be as a bartender, though. We get a loving montage of Jax making bad drinks and not giving a fuck. Who cares if Adam mistakes sweet-and-sour with soda water? Jax once served someone a cocktail with broken glass in place of ice.
How is Jax not in jail.
Back in Mexico Musical Cue: “we don’t need so sleep because the party don’t stop / so put your hands on me and turn me on, turn me on”.
I don’t need to go further into the fact that these lyrics have no relationship to one another, right?
The Mexico group is off to dinner, and they’re talking about the plans they have for the next day. They’re going to a water park! They take shots celebrating Scheana’s divorce because it’s finalized! Scheana’s gushing about Rob again because she has nothing else to talk about except her significant others, and Stassi says she needs to find a new hobby. I agree. Stassi is literally how I am when my friends go on about their significant others for more than I feel appropriate. Rob has infiltrated Stassi’s psyche and she’s even having nightmares about him now.
A former friend of mine in college6 lived in a house with three of her sorority sisters and she happened to be only single one. The fact that her roommates were sleeping not in their house but over at their respective significant others bothered her so deeply that it was all she talked about for three months. Because she couldn’t go to them about this problem, she came to me. Every conversation we had was about how she didn’t feel comfortable with staying in her house alone. To this day, I wonder if she ever talked to them about it. Anyway, the point of all of this is that her complaints began to effect me. I was having nightmares and full of anxiety about her situation. Stassi’s joking, but really - people who lack the awareness that their bombarding the conversation with one topic are the most selfish people on Earth. This girl was a walking red flag.
Jax takes the Toms aside to tell them about his Fake Job opportunity. The Toms are devastated to lose Jax and the band breaking up. Who are they going to hide behind and pretend they’re better than? How are they going to feel better about committing bad behaviors if they don’t have Jax to compare it to? They don’t want Jax to leave because they might have to feel remorseful.
Brittany tells the girls about Jax’s fake job opporunity, and I love that everyone’s skeptical. Kristen’s like “so, it’s real?’ And Katie asks if they subjected him to a spelling test. Remember Jax’s sweater line? Or his fitness app? All the girls are mad that Jax assumed that Brittany’s just going to pack up and move along with her, and Stassi is the first to explode about it. All the girls are telling her he treats her like shit and she doesn’t need to deal with that. Scheana tries to defend Brittany but everyone’s like, wait, weren’t you trying to set her up with the hot new bartender just last week? Shut up.
Jax approaches and Stassi tells him he’s Public Enemy Number One.
He sits back down at the table, and everyone’s like “So, Tampa?” And Jax is like, “Y’all can come visit!” They ask Jax what he’s doing for this Fake Job, and he says “events and social media.”
Okay, Jax. Sure, Jan. I don’t know a single company that would link their events team and social media team. They’re both marketing but very different types of marketing. And no, he is not “in charge of social media”. Jax literally cannot come up with a title for his job because he does not have this job.
Ariana brings up that she really wants to make sure that Brittany can do what she wants out of life, even if she does go with Jax to do this or not. This turns into Jax literally learning what his girlfriend’s life dream is. They’ve been together for two years and he literally cannot recall that Brittany wants to work with children with mental disabilities. She did it in high school, and it’s what she went to fucking school for.
Brittany, why? Why do you do this?! I DON’T UNDERSTAND.
She’s giving him so many chances to be a good boyfriend. She’s literally like, “You know, I’ve told you what I want to do a bunch of times, don’t make a fool of me in front of my friends, just pretend you know what I’m talking about.” And Jax is too dumb to play along and further humiliates her. He doesn’t care about her whatsoever. All he had to say is like “oh yeah, of course I’ve heard you say that.” But he doesn’t. This information he should know, but he doesn’t. He doesn’t even want to.
Lala wins the fucking episode when she reminds Jax that he is no longer single, he’s in a partnership of two years, and he needs to respect her. Jax tells her to shut up, and she loses it in only the way a woman tired of being told to be silent does. She’s fed up and she’s had enough of his blatant disrespect. Lala can’t get any respect from these men and they really do need to stop telling her to shut up when she’s holding them accountable.
Imagine a bunch of people telling you you’re treating someone like shit and to change and your response is to tell them to shut up instead of considering maybe you’re a bad person. Just imagine.
Jax tells Lala she doesn’t know him well enough to speak to him the way she is, and we get to see Lala’s old face and Jax before his hairline decided it was disgusted by him in a montage, where we remember that a) Jax really wanted to fuck Lala and b) Jax diminished and disrespected his relationship with Brittany in order to try to fuck Lala. Lala knows firsthand what a shithead Jax is and is definitely allowed to speak on it.
When Jax tries to shut Lala down, that allows Kristen to rise from the ashes, because if Lala doesn’t know him well enough, Kristen/Katie/Stassi definitely do. Jax tries an ad hominem attack, this one being “Why isn’t Carter here, Kristen? What’s wrong with your relationship?” And Kristen literally is like “... yeah, that has nothing to do with what’s going on here.”
My personal favorite defense is when people are getting held accountable for shitty things they’ve done and their response is “well, you’re not perfect.” No one was ever saying that they were (Especially not Kristen). You don’t have to be perfect to know when someone is being bad. You just need to be a decent person. Jax is the most manipulative and abusive asshole and I hope someone runs him over.
Ariana has a napkin over her head, and Sandoval decides it’s time to jump into the conversation because Jax needs a defender at this time. No, Jax doesn’t, and Sandoval can fuck right off for this. Stassi is telling Jax that she stays quiet whenever she hears the way Jax speaks to Brittany even though she’s not okay with it, and Sandoval tries to tell her that she doesn’t have a leg to stand on because Stassi is Jax’s ex-girlfriend so of course her opinion is biased against Jax. Sandoval, your opinion is biased FOR Jax. He’s acting like losing Jax to Florida is somehow equal to Jax’s awful, abusive behavior. He’s acting like his devastation is equal to the devastation Brittany’s self-esteem is suffering.
Next Week: Watersports, and not the sexy kind. Oh, that Kristen vs. Stassi thing is going to be an actual Thing, apparently. Scheana tells Rob she’s trying to be present and he tells her to shut her phone off (supportive, right?) But no, Scheana discovers Rob basically doesn’t want to hear from her. Lisa is aware of Scheana’s meddling in Jax and Brittany’s relationship, and so is Jax, and Jax is mad that Brittany might actually want better for herself than him. Who woulda thunk it?
Random Assessments from the Desk of Amanda:
Who told Brittany and Jax that robin’s egg blue is a good color for a living room area?
Jax doesn’t want a partner because that would require him to see women as companions. Jax wants a mother and a his buddies.
Scheana apparently only watches her scenes. I love that. She’s awful.
Honestly, the fact that Lisa Vanderpump doesn’t have restaurants called Sous, Dans, Devant, and Derriere is a loss for her. This is a French language joke, brought to you by my tenth grade French teacher and the direction song.
I really want to go to Mexico.
Brittany hasn’t realized that Jax tired of his shiny new toy and she thinks she can get him to fall in love with her again. And the harder she tries, the less interested he is. I’m not going to say I’ve been in the situation before because I never know who is reading this, but man, I can see Jax’s side. Like, when I’m done with someone, I’m done. And the more they try to make me change my mind, the more done I become. By the end of my last relationship I would be ideal for Donald Trump with how done I was.
Further evidence that this job does not exist: Jax only lies to protect himself.
I can't wait to see The Divorce Closet on Shark Tank.
Bartenders, or if we’re being obnoxious, mixologists, or if we’re being pretentious, “cocktail artists”, are some of the most protective over their intellectual property. Then again, if I made a cocktail with 15 different ingredients that I had to source from the bottom of a gold-plated barrel, I would be too. ↩︎
I had to turn on the subtitles because I spent the last episode like “What kind of name is Nicole Ain?” Or “Nickle Ayn”? ↩︎
Yes, I know Stassi si from New Orleans. We’ve never heard her use “y’all” until now, and honestly, I’m so pro a gender-neutral plural that I think y’all shouldn’t be exclusively for Southern people. SORRRRRRRY. But y’all also can’t tell me she didn’t say this just because she was around black people. ↩︎
Why are people still replating carryout food and pretending they made it?! I know you didn’t do this. ↩︎
I fucking hate spicy cocktails and I judge cocktail bars with them on their menu. Oh god, I’m totally going to get myself into a lot of fucking trouble with my bartender friends SORRY Y’ALL ↩︎
One of the three people on Earth who knows that if we’re ever on the same sidewalk she better cross the fuckin’ street. ↩︎

Politics is Show Business for Ugly People…
Digital Elixir Politics is Show Business for Ugly People…
“It’s too late baby Now it’s too late” –Carole King
Politics is show business for ugly people. And you’ve got to play by show business rules.
Show business is all about preparation, getting the act, song, movie, TV show, ready and then marketing it so people will be aware of it and buy it.
And you always want to be first, and you want to eliminate all chance.
You want an upward curve, even if you start low and slow.
You want no lulls. You want to keep people interested, by teasing them with new information on a regular basis.
You want to control the narrative.
And what is the narrative the Democrats are trying to sell?
Damned if I know. The only thing they can agree on is they hate Trump. I hate KISS, but that doesn’t keep them off the road, playing to empty arenas, their fans support them. And speaking of KISS, Gene Simmons is one of the greatest marketers of all time, a complete blowhard, but he’s making it work for himself and the band. Maybe he learned it all from Neil Bogart, who changed his name from “Bogatz,” to give the right “impression.” Bogart failed on his first attempt, trying to sell a record of Johnny Carson routines, it went instantly into the cut-out bin, but then he pivoted to disco and Donna Summer and KISS.
And Bogart was a showman, full of crap. Seemingly everything he said was inflated and wrong. Remember when there were four simultaneous KISS solo albums and Neil said they were instantly gold? The press bought it, even though all of them but Peter Criss’s came back.
You see it’s all about perception. Sell the myth, not the facts.
It’s more important that Elizabeth Warren be seen as a fighter against the man than any specific policy position. People don’t go that deep. CONGRESS doesn’t go that deep! Did you read the “New Yorker” story on Al Franken? His accuser told boldfaced lies, there was history disputing her account, but she got out there first and what she said ruled, even though she was working for a pro-Trump radio station. Once again, the Democrats reacted, and now they’re doubling-down, can’t see why they were wrong. Kirsten Gillibrand, YOU’RE HISTORY!
The press said Trump was losing because he brought up the “i” word before the Democrats. But Trump knows you get ahead of the blowback, you make the first punch, and you load the media with so much b.s. that it can’t keep up.
Meanwhile, the public doesn’t know the difference between impeachment and conviction and Pelosi seems as old as she really is. She’s Perry Como after the Beatles. Doesn’t she realize THE RULES HAVE CHANGED?
Happens in entertainment all the time. Suddenly you can’t sell hair bands. Suddenly hip-hop is burgeoning. And if you fight the tide, you drown. Oh, little fish can still swim in their own private backwaters, but if you’re playing for everything, if you want to run the table, you’ve got to be looking to the future, not the past!
Trump speaks to the public. Pelosi speaks to insiders.
That’s why AOC gets so much traction, she speaks to the public-at-large, it’s less about legislation than attitude, which is move over you old farts and let the younger generation take the reins, you oldsters have no idea what is going on anymore!
But Team Pelosi says you’ve got to run to the center, because you’ve got to appeal to those districts that flipped for Democrats in 2016. That’s like making Aerosmith play acoustic, and refusing to let them play new material.
Of course, Aerosmith doesn’t play new material, and Chris Christie is a big Boss fan. It’s kinda like long hair. Once upon a time it symbolized something, you were either for us or against us, then it was just a fashion choice.
Anyone who plays to the rearguard is always disrupted. Didn’t you ever read Clayton Christensen? Everybody pooh-poohs the new, saying it’s not as good as the old, and then it becomes better and the old folds overnight. Christensen says to embrace the new, and then eliminate the old when the new gains traction. The DNC is being disrupted and their answer? Let’s go back to Good Ol’ Joe. That’s like asking your grandfather for music advice.
So what we’ve got is candidates who want to throw the baby out with the bathwater and the Democrats are freaking out, they can’t even get aligned on one position. Criticize the Republicans all you want, but after Trump they all got in line. That’s how you win, when you play like a team!
And if you try to appeal to everybody, you lose. The road is littered with middle of the road artists, who fail on the chart and play to a dwindling audience in Branson and clubs. You want to get people EXCITED! That’s what Warren and Harris and Bernie and Buttigieg are doing.
And what does the establishment say?
THEY’RE TOO FAR LEFT!
AC/DC was too heavy until suddenly they weren’t. “Back In Black” is still streaming prodigiously today, “You Shook Me All Night Long” is an American anthem! Of course Mutt Lange helped. The right has Karl Rove, who do we have on the left?
So the reason you wanted impeachment is so the whole world would watch, so Trump’s bad behavior, criminal or not, would infect the public. When the truth outs, it’s hard to deny.
But no, it was never time. Pelosi and her pals are like a Silicon Valley outfit that never releases its product. It’s so busy getting it right that it can never come out. Meanwhile, Facebook becomes so big by having a motto of “move fast and break things.” Forget that Zuckerberg is the enemy now, he’s on top of the pyramid, he controls the conversation more than not only Congress, but the mainstream media! Furthermore, he just pivoted, saying it was about private conversations, when the Democrats are still looking for that elusive consensus. Everything worth paying attention to starts off the radar, small, and then it blows up and BECOMES THE MAINSTREAM!
So Barr says Trump is innocent.
The Dems folded their tent.
Then Mueller sends his letter and they think…wow, maybe there’s something here. Like a band the label has stopped working that is suddenly selling tickets…the label is on to something else, it’s hard to get it restarted on your old product.
And then the Democrats placed all their hopes on Mueller testifying. That’s like taking someone with a great record, who’s never been on stage, and having them headline Coachella! No one would do that, the odds of failure are too high.
So Mueller didn’t deliver. Oh, don’t make it about Russia, the Dems thought Mueller was gonna blow a hole through the curtain, reveal that Trump was culpable and should be charged. Not only did Mueller not do this, he said as much after he delivered his report earlier…this was his final statement!
And the Dems are playing by old rules and crying to the nonexistent refs that the Republicans are cheating. No, Trump and his posse have invented new rules, like no one in the regime needs to testify. When they up the ante, so do you! You don’t say there’s no crying in baseball!
So now, on left wing radio, all the talk is about getting the transcripts from the grand jury. God, even in the NFL when you lose, you lose, no matter how heinous the call. Because without rules, you’ve got no game.
And that’s what’s happening now, WE’VE GOT NO GAME! Trump and his cronies are running ragged and the Dems and the media are so flummoxed, they do NOTHING!
Come on. Even the most lame influencer knows you’ve got to deliver product on a regular basis. You’ve got to hook the audience and deliver. That’s certainly what Trump has done, and all the left keeps saying is HE SHOULDN’T TWEET!
Meanwhile, these same wankers are posting to Instagram, the national pastime, and despite their constant disparagement of the internet and Twitter, Twitter is where the news happens, and if you’re not on it, you don’t know what’s going on.
So impeachment failed in the marketplace. It’s like Annapurna, Megan Ellison’s movie company. No matter how great the film, and she’s put out plenty, they never reach expectations. “Booksmart,” one of the best-reviewed movies this year, which appeals to oldsters and youngsters…dead. Product is only one part of the puzzle, you need the aforementioned marketing. The big studios may put out lame films, but they’re experts in marketing them.
When you fail, you write it off. Just look at the Fortune 500, that’s what they do. Did Bezos try to improve the Fire phone? No, he deleted it from the catalog. And today, your mistakes don’t haunt you as long as you continue to play and make noise. Once again, the game has changed, there’s so much noise that the biggest challenge is just reaching the public. And if you don’t, people forget what you were selling, they’re inundated with new messages.
And I’ve used a plethora of metaphors here, but now I’m gonna use one more. Pro football used to be a running game. Now running backs make a fraction of what they used to, all the emphasis is on passing and receiving! You change with the times!
Seems like everybody can change with the times but the Democrats.
So forget impeachment. This is the gang that can’t shoot straight, even if they have clear evidence that Trump needs to go, the right will spin it otherwise and rule the marketplace, i.e. public opinion. And just like a record, you don’t have to appeal to everybody to win. How come Trump knows this and the Democrats don’t?
Instead of clinging to the past, trying to rebuild the old edifice, it’s time to build a new one. And there are a number of candidates promising this. Safe rarely succeeds. Can you say Romney? Can you say Kerry! One of the reasons Obama won was because he HAD little history. There was little to nail him on and he promised hope.
Believe me, Ol’ Joe is not promising hope. He’s like a boomer musician waiting for Hilary Rosen to save them from streaming. But Hilary’s moved on from the RIAA, and streaming has already won, soon there won’t even be any hardware to play discs! Apple kills the iPod because the innards are no longer manufactured, and the Democrats keep trying to prop up oldsters, held together by baling wire. Bill Clinton had Linda Bloodworth-Thomason and her husband selling him, and despite baggage, he won anyway!
Who do the Democrats have?
Maybe it’s time to hire Bill Belichick.
Oh, that’s right, HE’S A TRUMPER!

the last great american dynasty:
god i had to restart it 3 times my fam r so noisy pls.
i really feel like the stripped back style of production really allows taylors lyrics and storytelling within songs to shine. like ive got the maddest mental images of screaming matches between Rebecca and bills family and small town style rumours passing from someone to another
mental music video basically and also u can see the strength of rebecca which is only paralleled by smth ive experienced from books/TV? imagine the skill it takes to tell such a story in a few minutes that people see in 358 pages or 12 1hr installations
EXILE YES BON IVER:

mirrorball:
MIRRORBALL U COUNTRY BEAUTY
this song just feels like calm vibes as a blanket, stolen kisses
bro.... i literally wrote half a song with the lyrics that have the same gist of the bridge the whole idea of the circus no longer existing and yet u still feel like u have to perform for that one person cause u need to prove that they made the wrong choice leaving i
seven:
God her voice is hauntingly beautiful here
and though I can't recall your face I still got love for you what a beautiful way to express that you're always loved by someone even if you're no longer close, you live in memories and that's 100% enough and you're enough
THE ENTIRE SECOND VERSE IS ME AND MY FRIENDS AS TEENAGERS? God that hurt especially bc the sentiment of my prev things applies to those same people
SHOUT OUT TO INDIA TAYLOR I FEEL SO SEEN RN LMAO
august:
ahhhhh we had cruel summer and now we have august
"lost in the memory" is one of my favourite lyrics anyway and now taylors used it i

OK THE BRIDGE WAS MEEEEEE OH MY GOD how do i write my shitty album when this *gestures to entire folklore aggressively* exists.
oh the outro :( whoever said this is taylors melodrama was onto smth fr

you're a flashback in a film reel on the one screen in my town okkkkkkkkkkk wow 🥺
illicit affairs:
why do i feel like this is joe and tays story post met gala👁️
YOU SHOWED ME COLOURS IS SUCH A METAPHORICALLY DEEP AND BEAUTIFUL LINE HI OOTW REFERENCE
invisible string omg OK I claimed this one pre listen:
oh crap the colour references already spoke to me bc long ago I had a concept to link songs to colours
also the idea of storybook romance as well with the "used to think I'd meet somebody there"
i love the invisible string theory also oh my god
BAD BLOOD OMG this is such a random detail abt how Joe heard bad blood the first time he was in LA and I love it
LMAO not taylor getting recognised on their anniversary trip 😭
also can i just say the plucking strings keeping the same rhythm/volume the way through somehow contributes to the invisible string theory i loooooveeeeee the lyric/music matching here (did i just somehow compare this to vq matching? think so ok maybe there's hope for me as a medic yet 💀)
taylor rly said fuck adam tom and whoever else Joe is it
OK THE REFERENCES TO GOLD HI DWOHT
ALSO PURPLE PINK SKIES HELLO INTHAF AKA MY STAN SONG WHICH EVERYONE SLEEPS ON
safe to say i made a correct choice stanning this song pre listen ahahaah
mad woman:
the chords on this i am in love, the chaos of the string instruments yessss
here for the strength lol
this is i did something bad but quiet scary angry version
CALLED IT HELLO IDSB REFERENCE
ugh the delicacy in how the words are pronounced in the second chorus shows how hurt and strong u can be simultaneously
mirrored ofc by the soft piano and percussion of hand claps ugh taylor im so happy u made this album
epiphany:
im getting let it all go vibes from this also bon iver
oh it's coronavirus :( yeah
side note wear a mask this seriously was unprecedented and ik at my work (icu) while I was FT we had a couple boxes of antiviral ppe and I did a shift just as things got bad here and it was all completely gone. at the time we'd only had a couple query covid cases so pls. WEAR A MASK ESP U LOT ON THE TUBE/TFL RAIL
i feel like this song reflects how slow the pain can be when ur losing someone like literally watching their breaths slow and also the emotional pain.
betty:
omg this is one of the teenager love story three aaahhhhh it's so cute BUT I SERIOUSLY REMEMBER THE TEENAGE ANGST oh man i Really do
also hello country tay
ugh all ur stupid friends it seriously sounds like 17 year old boy 😭
peace:
LOVE THAT GUITAR RIFF YES AM SO HERE FOR THAT
I made good choices in the songs I chose pre listen all of this is literal poetry and I'm so glad I can focus on the lyrics more because of the production yes i know I already said that
DREAMSCAPES I LOVE THAT WORD I WAS JUST THINKING I NEED TO INCORPORATE IT INTO A SONG
the i-i-id in I'd swing with you for the fences, the delicacy in "give you a child"
now I see your brother as my brother hello paper rings reference (it's not even but yall know)
the rain (paps/media) can well and truly fuck off
"would it be enough if I could never give you peace" actual poetry.
hoax:
i love the dainty piano ugh that HIGH night
the octave differences on the chorus
don't want no other shade of blue hello paper rings
OK this one has a lot to unpack tbh i probably will pore over this like the English poetry i missed out on by choosing stem

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever! (Hebrews 13:8, NASB), emphasis mine)
All too often I hear well-meaning Christians say, "Sally (an anonymous name used just for illustration) has prayed and been prayed over for her healing many times and the healing has just not happened yet. God must be using this disease to help grow her faith and thereby help encourage others as they see her stand strong." Yes, we know that “God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.” (Romans 8:28, NASB). There is more to this though. This type of statement may come in many forms, shapes and sizes, but they all boil down to one thing: a belief that God has not already provided for their healing and that He uses sicknesses, diseases, and whatever the plight may be, for His own good purpose and will. This couldn't be further from the truth! How do I know that? Because the Word of God declares otherwise--particularly the New Covenant Word.
Imagine Sally had an accident some years back, one that left her paralyzed from the neck down. Her life dramatically changed, for sure. I could go on and on in setting-up this scene, adding background information, etc., but let’s just jump to the main point: Let us put Sally in the time-frame when Jesus walked the earth. Imagine four of Sally’s friends carrying her on a board of some kind to place her at the feet of Jesus. As Jesus gazed into Sally’s eyes, what do you think His thoughts would be towards her? He would have been filled with compassion and love for her. His forthcoming action would have been just like that of when all the others that came to Him for healing; His thoughts and precepts about life in the kingdom never changed; His desire to see people healed would never wane. With the warmth of His hands and with a smile on His face He would have reached over to her, touched her, and said, “My child, your faith has made you well. Rise up and walk.” Her healing would have come instantly, and she would have left that place far different, physically and spiritually, than she came in.
In the New Testament we can find numerous accounts of Jesus, His disciples and followers, healing much in the same manner:·
Matthew 8:16 When evening came, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed; and He cast out the spirits with a word and healed all who were sick.
Luke 4:40 While the sun was setting, all those who had any who were sick with various diseases brought them to Him; and laying His hands on each one of them, He was healing them.
Matthew 9:35 Jesus was going through all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every kind of disease and every kind of sickness.
Acts 10:38 You know of Jesus of Nazareth, how God anointed Him with the Holy Spirit and with power, and how He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.
Matthew 4:24 The news about Him spread throughout all Syria; and they brought to Him all who were ill, those suffering with various diseases and pains, demoniacs, epileptics, paralytics; and He healed them.
1 Peter 2:24 The news about Him spread throughout all Syria; and they brought to Him all who were ill, those suffering with various diseases and pains, demoniacs, epileptics, paralytics; and He healed them.
Matthew 10:1 Jesus summoned His twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal every kind of disease and every kind of sickness.
Acts 3:1-10 Peter and John healing the lame beggar.
Acts 28:8-9 And it happened that the father of Publius was lying in bed afflicted with recurrent fever and dysentery; and Paul went in to see him and after he had prayed, he laid his hands on him and healed him. After this had happened, the rest of the people on the island who had diseases were coming to him and getting cured.
And, the list goes on.
What I am trying to point out here is this: Jesus’s view on healing has not changed. The fact that He has equipped His believers, via His Holy Spirit in them, to heal and to bring the gospel of the kingdom to the masses has not changed one iota since the time He walked this earth. God wants you well and His desire has always been for people to walk in the newness of His life and in health: “Beloved, I pray that in all respects you may prosper and be in good health, just as your soul prospers.” (3 John 2, NASB).
Now, I can hear it already: “Why is it then after much prayer and asking God to heal so many people—some of which have died—has He not answered? How can what you say line up with what we are witnessing all around us?”
The answer is astonishingly simple: God has not changed, but the church has. The truth is, if healing does not come it’s not on God, rather, it’s on us. That may sound harsh, but you honestly can’t line it up with scripture any other way. Our problem is that we tend to make the Word line-up with what we experience instead of telling our experiences to get in line with the Word! This is a huge point. To make ourselves feel better about a particular situation we add in filler words and scenarios to help justify the seemingly inaction of God on our part.
The other part of this seemingly difficult equation is that He commissioned us to go out and to heal. We, like the disciples and believers of His time, have the same Holy Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead resident inside of us. We are His ambassadors; we are to do the things that Jesus did. Why? Because He told us to. How are we to do that? By faith, knowing Whom has taken up residence inside of us—Holy Spirit.
There can be a multitude of reasons for why a person has not received their healing. The only way to figure that out is to press in and ask God for spiritual discernment in the matter. We need to stop coming up with things and excuses on our own and go to God for the answers. He’s not going to remain silent. We are His sheep and His sheep, who press in and abide in His presence, hear His voice.
On a side note, think about your prayer life, your conversation time with God. Who is doing most of the talking when you pray? If we’re honest, we will realize that we hardly give God any time to respond, verbally, with His inner voice. And, we wonder why situations don’t change. Our perfect model is Jesus. I encourage you to read the following verses: John 5:19-20, 8:38, 12:49, 14:10-14.
I realize that I’m only two days into posting on Kingdom Living again and this topic will no doubt be quite sensitive for some, but it’s too important to let it go; there are too many people suffering needlessly when all the while we have the power to go and do as He did (ref. John 14:12, Mark 16:17-18). It can be really hard to come to grips with what we have erroneously justified during our time as believers in Jesus. Personally, because of my past unbelief’s and my ignorance of the truth of the Word, many people were left unhealed and some even died because of it. Is that tough to swallow? You bet it is! It doesn’t change the truth, though. It is I who need to be continually conformed to the likeness of Christ.
I could go on and on—but this would end up being a book. I encourage you to take an honest look at the Word and the scriptures that I listed, among others, in context (that could be a full post in and of itself) and go to the Lord with this. Jesus has not changed, nor will He ever change. What was true about healing in Jesus’ day is true for our day.
Be blessed…be a blessing!

.Marriage and sex
.Self control in all things
.You can abuse a God ordained appetite [Food- gluttony]
.Biblical teaching on being single
.Just because the bible talks about sex- and condones it in marriage- does that mean it can never be overdone- even in marriage?
.Are there verses that say if you remain celibate- it shows greater dedication to God?
 Revelation 14:4
These are the ones who have not been defiled with women, for they have kept themselves chaste These are the ones who follow the Lamb wherever He goes These have been purchased from among men as first fruits to God and to the Lamb.
   TEACHING-
Today I talked about a few different verses from the churches- but the theme I wanted to focus on was the mystery of Christ and the church as seen as Christ and his bride.
There are many bible verses that talk about marriage- and yes- sex.
This was part of the theme from the Sunday services I spoke on.
Most of us know that marriage is a God ordained covenant- and that sex within the marriage covenant is pure-
Hebrews 13:4
Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.
In Context | Full Chapter | Other Translations
We also read passages from the bible that teach us that some are called to be single- to abstain from marriage as a calling from God-
1Corinthians 7:7 For I would that all men were even as I myself. But every man hath his proper gift of God, one after this manner, and another after that.
1Corinthians 7:8 I say therefore to the unmarried and widows, It is good for them if they abide even as I.
1Corinthians 7:9 But if they cannot contain, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn.
So there is a balance-
We also know that there are God ordained desires- like eating food- that if taken to an extreme- become sinful desire's- though they are God ordained-
 Proverbs 23:21
For the drunkard and the glutton shall come to poverty: and drowsiness shall clothe a man with rags.
In Context | Full Chapter | Other Translations
I tried to give this as an example about sex as well.
We live in a society that sees sex as a recreational event-
And as the church- we speak against sex outside of marriage.
But what about those that are married? Because sex is good and right and pure- should we‘abuse’ this right?
Can it be abused or overdone? Like eating food- it is a God given desire- yet- just because it is God given- too much of it[food] is considered sinful and a lack of self control.
I talked about this on the video- and tried to give the right balance.
Ok- the main point for today was the mystery of Christ and his bride- the church.
I used a favorite passage of mine on this-
Romans 7:1 Know ye not, brethren, (for I speak to them that know the law,) how that the law hath dominion over a man as long as he liveth?
Romans 7:2 For the woman which hath an husband is bound by the law to her husband so long as he liveth; but if the husband be dead, she is loosed from the law of her husband.
Romans 7:3 So then if, while her husband liveth, she be married to another man, she shall be called an adulteress: but if her husband be dead, she is free from that law; so that she is no adulteress, though she be married to another man.
Romans 7:4 Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.
Christ has died for us- freeing us from the condemnation of the law- so we could be married to another- even to him who died for us- and rose again.
Our union with Christ frees us from the judgment of the law- but does not in any way mean we violate the law of God.
The law was simply a glimpse of the Holy character of God- and no man could become righteous by the law.
Yet- when Christ died for us- he freed us from it- and enabled us to be united with him in a true spiritual union- greater than that of natural marriage.
In this union- we are one with Jesus our bridegroom- and as one- we share in his divine nature-
2 Peter 1:4
Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
In Context | Full Chapter | Other Translations
This is why we do not break the Holy law of God- because we have become united to the Holy Son of God-
And now that the external law is written upon our hearts- we serve in newness of the Spirit- and this mystery is what natural marriage symbolizes-
 Romans 7:6
But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.
But the heavenly reality is much greater than the earthly one-
31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.
32 This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.

(835)ROMANS 7:1-4 Paul uses the analogy of a married woman ‘don’t you know that the law has dominion over a person as long as he is alive’? If a married woman leaves her husband and marries another man she is guilty of breaking the law of adultery. Now, if her husband dies, she is free to marry another man. The act that freed her from sin and guilt was death! Every thing else in the scenario stayed the same. She still married another, she still consummated the new marriage. But because her first husband died, she has no guilt. I always loved this analogy. For years I wondered why these themes in scripture are for the most part not ‘imbedded’ in the collective psyche of the people of God. We have spent so much time ‘proof texting’ the verses on success and wealth, that we have overlooked the really good stuff! Now Paul teaches that we have been made free from the law by the ‘death of our husband’ [Jesus] so we can ‘re-marry’. Who do we marry? Christ! He has not only died to free us from the law, he also rose from the dead to become our ‘husband’ [we are called the bride of Christ]. Paul connects the death and resurrection of Jesus in this analogy. Both are needed for the true gospel to be preached [1st Corinthians 15]. Notice how in this passage Paul emphasizes ‘the death of Christ’s body’. The New Testament doesn’t always make this distinction, but here it does. In the early centuries of Christianity you had various debates over the nature and ‘substance’ of God and Christ. The church hammered out various decrees and creeds that would become the Orthodoxy of the day. Many of these are what you would call the ‘Ecumenical councils’. These are the early councils [many centuries!] that both the eastern [Orthodox church] and western [Catholic] churches would all accept. Some feel that the early church fathers and Latin theologians [Tertullian, Augustine and others] had too much prior influence from philosophy and the ‘forensic’ thinking of their time. They had a tendency to describe things in highly technical ways. Ways that were prominent in the legal and philosophical thinking of the West. Some of the eastern thinkers [Origen] had more of a Greek ‘flavor’ to their theologizing [Alexandria, named after Alexander the great, was a city of philosophy many years prior to Christ. This city was at one time the center of thinking in the East. That’s why Paul would face the thinkers at Athens, they had a history in the east of Greek philosophy]. Well any way the result was highly technical debates over the nature of God and Christ. The historic church would finally decree that Christ had 2 natures, Human and Divine. And that at the Cross the ‘humanity of Jesus’ died, but his ‘Deity’ did not. I think Paul agreed by saying ‘we are free from the law by the death of Christ’s Body’ here Paul distinguishes between the physical death of Jesus and his Deity. Note- actually, Augustine would be in the same school as Origen. Alexandrian.
(836)ROMANS 7: 5-13 ‘But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of the Spirit, not in the oldness of the letter’. This is such a powerful statement! WE ARE DELIVERED FROM THE LAW, surely Paul must mean ‘the fleshly law [carnal nature] in our members’? No, he means ‘the law’, the actual moral code that was contained in the Ten Commandments. He writes to the Colossians ‘Jesus took the handwriting of ordinances that were against us [the real law, not the sinful nature!] and nailed it to his Cross’. He tells the Ephesians ‘the middle wall of partition [law] has come down in Christ’. I know it’s easy to develop ideas that justify this radical grace concept in our minds, it’s just part of mans nature to want to be able to do something, contribute some way to our salvation. ‘Surely the law helps me stay in line’? No it doesn’t! You are ‘dead to the law by the Body of Christ’. We now live and are regulated by the ‘Spirit of life in Christ Jesus’. It is the fact that we have been raised to life in Christ that frees us, not the law. Paul goes on and explains that there was a time when ‘he was alive without the law’ but when the commandment came ‘sin revived, and I died’. Paul was a strict Pharisee, the further he advanced in law, the more he found himself to be ‘exceeding sinful’. The more he learned, the worse he got! It’s sort of a catch 22, you see and hear the ‘do not do this’ portions of law, and it stirs up the sinful nature to ‘do it’. Now Paul recaps an earlier theme of the law serving the function of revealing sin to man. He defends the law by saying ‘was that which is good [law] death unto me’? No, but the law simply ‘awakened’ the sin that was always there, hiding under the covers. It brought to a head the ‘disease’. The law revealed the underlying problem of sin, and made it ‘exceeding sinful’. The law is good, we are bad! [apart from Christ and the Spirit of life].
(837)ROMANS 7:14-25 Paul now shows us the reality of Gods law and its effect on man. ‘When I do something that I DON’T WANT TO DO, then I consent unto the law that it is good’. Did you ever think of this? The fact that you [or even the atheist!] have done things that ‘you don’t want to do’ proves the existence of God and natural law [which the 10 commandments were only a glimpse, they reveal a small part of Gods character and nature]. So if you, or anybody else, have ever struggled with ‘I am doing something that I hate’. Then why do it? Or better, why hate it? You yourself are an actual living testimony of ‘the law of God’. Your own conscience testifies that there are  ‘good things’ and ‘bad things’. You also testify of the fact of sin ‘why do you keep doing the bad things’? Alas, that thing called ‘sin’ does exist! Paul shows us that the experience of every human member on the planet testifies to both the righteousness of God and the sinfulness of man. Freud [the father of modern Psychology] saw this war rage in the psyche of man, he came up with an idea that we need to ‘free man’ from this inner moral struggle. He espoused the idea that in mans ‘head’ he has this preconceived image of ‘God’ and right or wrong. Being Freud was a child of the Enlightenment, as well as a student of Existentialism [though the Father of Existentialism was a Christian, the Danish theologian/ philosopher Soren Kierkegaard] he taught that if we could just eliminate this ‘God idea’ and ‘church moral code’ from mans mind, then all would be well! Geez, I could hardly think of a more destructive thing than to tell man ‘if it feels right, do it’! Paul taught ‘if you can’t stop doing something that ‘feels right’ then you are sinning!’[if that which ‘feels right’ is making you miserable!] And the very fact that you can’t escape the guilt, proves that God exists and that his law is this unstoppable force that invades all human consciences. Paul knew the struggle, he testifies thru out scripture that he tried to become right with God over and over again, but the ‘law of sin’ [the sinful nature. Here ‘law’ is speaking of the ‘principle of sin’ and the fleshly nature] prevented him from keeping the ‘law of God’ [doing what’s right], he then found the ‘righteousness of God that comes thru faith in Christ’. Paul ends the chapter ‘O wretched man that I am, who shall deliver me from the body of this death’? ‘I thank God thru Jesus Christ my Lord’. Paul found the answer, his name was Jesus.
Romans 7:5 For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death.
Romans 7:6 But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.
Romans 7:7 What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.
Romans 7:8 But sin, taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the law sin was dead.
Romans 7:9 For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died.
Romans 7:10 And the commandment, which was ordained to life, I found to be unto death.
Romans 7:11 For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it slew me.
Romans 7:12 Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.
Romans 7:13 Was then that which is good made death unto me? God forbid. But sin, that it might appear sin, working death in me by that which is good; that sin by the commandment might become exceeding sinful.
Romans 7:14 For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.
Romans 7:15 For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I.
Romans 7:16 If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good.
Romans 7:17 Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.
Romans 7:18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.
Romans 7:19 For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.
Romans 7:20 Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.
Romans 7:21 I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me.
Romans 7:22 For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:
Romans 7:23 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.
Romans 7:24 O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?
Romans 7:25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.

1ST CORINTHIANS 5:1-7 Okay, now we get into some tough stuff. Paul tells them that he has heard about a situation where one of the brothers is sleeping with his step-mom [fathers wife, though probably not his mother]. And the rebuke is they are not repenting over it, but instead are kind of proud of the whole thing! Paul says to ‘deliver him to satan for the destruction of the flesh so the spirit may be saved’. Now I already showed you the way I view this verse. I tried to follow the other times where Paul speaks this way in this letter and when using this type of language I see him speaking of physical death [chapter 11- sleep-death as judgment to a believer who sins]. I often ‘day dream’ how bout you? I’m not sure if it’s the lord at times trying to tell me stuff. One of my noble fantasies is I can picture myself as the sole Christian preacher who has survived some nuclear holocaust and I am responsible to train the survivors. In this scenario [I am kinda ad libbing here, I don’t day dream this much!] I have both Catholic and Protestant believers. Although I am tempted to raise this new generation of people as Protestants, I instead teach the Catholics true Catholic doctrine [though I don’t fully agree with it all] and I teach the Protestants their stuff. Now, I think this little day dream in some way speaks to what I need to do at times on this blog. I need to honestly tell both sides! In this verse ‘commit to satan for the destruction of the flesh’ some do see it a little differently. You can read ‘flesh’ as meaning ‘fleshly nature’. Paul does use the word this way at times. You can’t really make the distinction by going to the Greek. Instead you have to simply look at the context. So this view would be saying ‘deliver this believer to the enemy, don’t allow him to remain ‘in the camp’ and continue to receive the benefits of the believing community. As you ostracize him he will feel the effect of not being with you, he will come to his senses and leave his sin’ [which in this scenario is ‘his fleshly nature’] so the ‘destruction of the flesh’ in this interpretation would fit in well with Arminians. Now, do I believe it this way? No, but I sure feel noble, sort of like the Protestant preacher in my ‘day dream’. [p.s. if you tell anybody about this day dream, I will deny it!]
(955)1st CORINTHIANS 5:6-8 Okay, lets get back to Corinthians. ‘Your glorying is not good, get rid of the old leaven. Don’t you know that a little yeast can affect the whole lump? Get rid of it, you are all unleavened, Christ is our new Passover Lamb who has been sacrificed for us. Therefore let us keep the feast, not with the old leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth’ [my own paraphrasing]. A few things. I want you to see something here, over the years I have read and studied lots of great theologians. It is common for these brothers to go back to the reality of the early church fathers belief in the ‘Real Presence’ of Christ in the Eucharist [Lords supper]. It is also becoming less common [in theological circles!] to defend the symbolic view of the Lords Supper. I believe Paul is presenting the idea of all believers spiritually sitting at the ‘table of life’ on a daily basis and receiving from Christ’s new life in a spiritual/symbolic way. He clearly says ‘let us keep the feast with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth’ [clearly symbolic!] Peter writes of the new sacrifices of praise and thanksgiving. Jesus speaks in an interesting way about this in John chapter 6. The Jews ask him ‘show us a sign, Moses gave us bread to eat from heaven. If you’re from God then prove it like Moses’. I find it interesting that in the key chapter of Jesus being the bread that comes down from heaven, the conversation turns to Moses. The beginning of the chapter does say the Passover feast was getting close, but the imagery is Moses and Manna. Moses represented the Old system of law and works, John’s gospel tells us that ‘the law came from Moses, but grace and truth from Jesus’. Jesus contrasts himself with Moses. He says ‘I am the real bread that has come down from heaven, if men eat my flesh and drink my blood they will live’. Now we must understand the tremendous offence this statement caused. The Jewish people had Levitical laws [commands in their law] that forbid the drinking of any type of blood, never mind the blood of a person! But yet Jesus would speak this way to them. In the conversation the hearers acknowledge the difficulty of the saying, Jesus will say ‘the flesh profits nothing, it is the Spirit that gives you life. The words I am speaking to you are Spirit and life’. At the last supper [which was the symbolic end of the Passover and the beginning of a new celebratory meal centered on the final sacrifice of Jesus, the Lamb of God] Jesus seems to be saying ‘from now on, as long as you do this, you are showing my death until I come again’ [we get this from Paul later on in Corinthians]. As you put all of this imagery together, you get the sense of the New Covenant being one of an ongoing continual New Covenant meal from which all believers daily eat from and ‘keep the feast with the new leaven of truth and sincerity, not the old leaven of sin and wickedness’. You clearly see a symbolic element in this language. Now, I do not discount the importance of the actual ordinance of the Lords Table. I recently defended the Catholic idea to an ex Catholic who is now Protestant. They said ‘how can people believe something so silly’ I had to say that many serious intellectual believers accept the Real Presence doctrine by faith in the literal reading of Jesus words. Luther himself believed it, he made no bones about it when he slammed his fist on the table in his dispute with Zwingli and said ‘this IS MY BODY!’ [I think he slammed his fist, he might have carved it in the table?] Standing for the literal interpretation of the sacrament. John Wesley, the founder of the great Methodist movement, wrote many hymns speaking of the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist. So make no mistake about it, many good believers hold to the literal belief. I just wanted you to see that it is also in keeping with the scripture to see the entire Christian walk as one huge ongoing ‘feast’ that is kept with spiritual sacrifices and symbolic language. Jesus is the bead that came down from heaven, those who would stay with ‘Moses bread’ [law] would die, those who would eat from this new table would live forever.
(957)1ST CORINTHIANS 5:9-13 Now Paul clarifies what he meant when he said ‘don’t associate with those who sin sexually’. He wants to be clear that his instructions on ‘not being with sinners’ is not misunderstood. After all we are called salt and light, Jesus himself was accused of spending too much time with the lost. So Paul says ‘what I meant was don’t keep ongoing fellowship with a brother who is practicing unrepentant sin’. He also says ‘if you thought I meant all sinners in general, then heck you wouldn’t be able to live in society this way’. Some believers have taken a stand on ‘separation from the world’ in such a way that they have no unbelieving friends. Others seem to view the unbeliever as the enemy. Sort of like we are in this culture war and the enemy is YOU! I can’t even watch the O’Reilly factor [Fox news] too long, he says he’s fighting this culture war and then in the ads for upcoming shows he shows the raciest pictures on any news show. What’s up with that? I feel we need to make the distinction between separating from a sinning brother [for his own good] and having friendships with unbelievers. People you can influence down the road. Paul also says if we judge our own [by shunning them for their own good] that this is a type of ‘present chastening’ that believers do experience. But those who are ‘outside the camp’ [unbelievers] are left to be judged by God. We see this same theme in chapter 11 ‘when we are judged we are disciplined by the Lord so we will not be condemned with the world’ [at the final judgment]. I believe that this idea is one of the best arguments for eternal security [once saved, always saved. Though I don’t like this language, you get the hint]. The concept of believers being presently dealt with for sin, even to the possible point of physical death, seems to indicate that they will not face a future judgment like the lost [eternal damnation]. When we recently did one of our Old Testament studies, I overlooked a verse that said to King David ‘I will raise up one of your sons [Solomon/Jesus- dual Messianic prophecy] and he will build this new temple/people. The way I will deal with the people under this new covenant is, if they commit sins, I will chasten them, but I will not utterly take my mercy from them’ [my paraphrasing- it is said to the actual son, Solomon/Jesus, but in the New Covenant revelation of the church actually being part of the Body of Christ, this is how you could apply it]. You can also read this idea in a few other places. I think Jeremiah uses it ‘I will give them a new heart and I will put my Spirit in them’ and he also speaks about not being totally rejected if they commit sin under this new covenant. So the point is, if there is a mechanism under this new covenant whereby sin is dealt with in the present time, and if this is compared to the other choice which is ‘judgment at a later time’. This would seem to indicate a type of ‘in house discipline’ that says ‘if you openly sin now, God will judge you now. He does this for your own good, so you won’t face the judgment of the unbeliever at the end’. So the fact that some were sinning, even pretty badly! Did not mean that they were expelled completely from the benefits of the covenant. As a matter of fact, temporal excommunication itself was one of the benefits! I don’t want to be too dogmatic on this, I just want you to see a repeated theme in scripture that says God will deal with his kids in the here and now [no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous- Hebrews] but this in itself is a blessing that is designed to ‘produce the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them that are exercised thereby’ Hebrews.
(958)1ST CORINTHIANS 6: 1-7 Paul rebukes them for taking each other to court. He tells them ‘don’t you have any wise people among you who could handle this? Why go before unbelievers!’ he also tells them ‘plus, why even fight for your rights, if you think you have been wronged in some way by your brother, then simply see it as part of the cost of carrying your cross’. Paul contradicts the prevalent mindset in much of Christianity today. He doesn’t teach ‘get what’s yours, know your rights!’ he teaches the ethos of self denial, of living with the expectation of giving up your rights and dreams. Of taking loss, if it glorifies the Father. Now we get into some ‘stuff’. Paul appeals to them by saying ‘don’t you realize that we shall judge angels some day, we shall judge the world’. A few years back there was a debate going on in theological circles. Some theologians popularized a new way to look at God’s sovereignty. This new system was called ‘Open Theism’. Scholars like Clark Pinnock and others held out the possibility that God doesn’t foreordain all future events, they actually went further and said ‘he doesn’t know all future events’. Well of course this sparked off a firestorm among the Calvinists. Does scripture teach that God is sovereign and does know all that will happen? To be honest about it, yes. But the idea of open theism was saying ‘because God has chosen to give man free will, he, by his own design, has chosen to limit his knowledge in the area of knowing all of mans future choices’. In essence that God purposely ‘does not know’ the future outcomes of decisions that have not been made by humans. If free will is real [of course the Calvinists say no] then God must limit himself to knowledge in these areas. I personally do not believe this, but I think I needed to share it to explain this section of scripture. Paul does tell them they will judge the world and angels. In second Peter 2, the apostle says the fallen angels are being held for a future day of judgment. In Matthew [19-?] Jesus says those who follow him will play a part in a future ruling over human government. These scriptures do indicate that believers will play a role in future judgment scenarios. So if we ‘judge angels and the world’ we should be able to arbitrate between ourselves! Now, in the world of theology you have sincere questions on ‘is it fair for God to judge people who have never heard the gospel’ or ‘if God is truly sovereign in all things, even in predestinating certain people to salvation, then this is unfair’. Many have turned to universalism, or a belief in ‘no hell’ in order to quell these questions. I want to simply float a scenario to you. Jesus says ‘whosoever sins you remit [forgive] they are forgiven. Those you retain [not forgive] will be retained’ while there are differing views on these verses, I want you to see how these scriptures, in keeping with all that I just showed you, might leave us room for another possible way out of all the so called questions on Gods ‘fairness’. Say if at the judgment, we are all gathered [Calvinists, Arminians, Catholics,…] and say if we are all waiting to see who’s right ‘I’ll show that Arminian…I’ll show that Catholic…’ and we are at the day where the future destinies of millions are at stake. What will God do? It’s possible that much of the final decision will rest in the hands of the church. I know it sounds heretical, but keep in mind all the verses I just quoted to you. Say if all of our pompous pontificating [wow!] amongst varying theories of the atonement and universalism and all the other stuff. Say if Jesus turns to us and says ‘You are now going to make the most important judgment of your lives, you shall judge the world and angels’ and all of a sudden all of our scrutiny of God’s fairness turns on us. We see in the crowd of masses, faces of people who we hate. People who have been demonized by history [Darwin, Hitler]. Those we always wondered about [eastern religions] and now much of their final destiny rides on us. Even the possibility of fallen angels being forgiven! [Hey, maybe Origen was right?] The whole point of this scenario is to simply say we might have been asking the wrong questions all along. Now for sure, no one gets in without Jesus and his blood! But there are also a few other verses [Peter] that seem to indicate a second hearing [or first!] of the gospel before the final day. The point being how willing are you to really carry out something like this? Are you really ready for the great responsibility of having someone’s destiny depend on how forgiving you are? I really don’t believe 100 % in this scenario I just floated. But Jesus does put us in positions of responsibility all thru out our lives. He does say ‘whoever’s sins we don’t forgive, these sins will be held against them by your own choice’ we keep people in ‘chains of bondage’ today! Never mind the future. God has committed to us great responsibility as believers, if we are still fighting each other over insignificant things [taking our brothers to court, if you will] then we are truly not ready to ‘Judge the world’.
(959)1ST CORINTHIANS 6: 8-20 Paul paints a ‘canvas’ of those who will not inherit the Kingdom. The list not only includes the big ones, but also the ‘average Joe’. Homosexuals, covetous, straight people who commit sexual sin; just the whole gambit. I do want to stress that Paul is not politically correct, he does categorize homosexuality as sin. He is not simply saying ‘non monogamous homosexuality’ but all types. I know there is an honest effort being made to try as much as possible to be more inclusive of other people’s views and lifestyles. I am for this approach as much as possible, but we also need to be honest about sin, all sin. Now covetous is that strong desire to amass wealth, it is the daily longing and confessing and believing for more material abundance. Yes folks, it’s what many of us have been duped into thru wrong teaching. I had a homeless friend who used to tell me how his dad, who was retired, used to wake up every day and simply consume his day with the stock market and how his retirement was going, he didn’t realize that he made the funding of his retirement [an okay goal] the main thought pattern of his life. I also just saw a story similar to this on some business channel. We need to be ‘ware’ of covetousness. Now Paul makes special mention of the destructive nature of sexual sin, he says ‘it destroys you’. I have been reading Proverbs the last month or so and there are many warnings about sexual sin. It says ‘he that does this destroys his own soul’. A few years back I watched [or read?] a local story of a professor who came down with a disease called Dementia. As they shared his story they described the progressive nature of him slowly losing his mind, and how his family eventually brought him back home [he was not married, his parents took him in] as they shared the sad story, they kinda  tactfully said ‘one of the possible signs of this disease is obsessive compulsive sexual behavior’. They basically were saying part of this mans history included obsessive sexual sin. I wonder if the dementia in some way is a result of the behavior, as opposed to a symptom. There was also a study done years ago that showed the difference in the brain scans of Homosexuals and Heterosexuals, they seemed to have found some real physical brain distinctions. But once again, is it possible that sexually engaging in certain sinful behaviors is actually ‘destroying the soul’, or causing a change in the brain? Paul singled out this sin [not just Homosexual behavior, but all sexual sin!] as causing actual damage to a person’s physical make up in a way that was more damaging than other sins. I think we all need to heed his warning. [note- sexual sin is a common struggle in life. Many believers do struggle and have fallen into this sin. Paul actually is addressing these sins because of the prevalence of the problem. I don’t want to condemn any one who reads this site and struggles this way, Paul is offering hope and forgiveness thru out this letter. He seems to be extra harsh with the Corinthians  because of their lax attitude towards this sin].

Peter’s mother-in-law is healed...
Praise God on High!
The Thanksgiving Hymns
(retrieved from: Penguin Classics, The Complete Dead Sea Scrolls in English; pg 250, Translated with an introduction, by Geza Vermes)
Hymn I (formerly 23)
As Thou hast said by the hand of Moses,Thou forgives transgression, iniquity, and sin, and pardonest rebellion and unfaithfulness.
For the bases of the mountains shall melt and fire shall consume the deep places of Hell, but Thou wilt deliver all those that are corrected by Thy judgements, that they may serve Thee faithfully
and that their seed may be before Thee for ever.
Thou wilt keep Thine oath and wilt pardon their transgression;
Thou wilt case away all their sins.
Thou wilt cause them to inherit all the glory of Adam abundance of days.
We pray this Forever and ever, in the name of our almighty savior; Yeshua Jesus Christ.
Amen.
Verses typed out, as written in: The New Jerusalem Bible. The complete text of Ancient Cannon of the Scriptures with up-to-date introductions and notes.
Book of Matthew Chapter 8
11. “And I tell you the many will come from east and west and sit down,”
12. with Abraham and Isaac and Jacob at the feast in the kingdom of Heaven; but the children of the kingdom will be thrown out into the darkness outside, where
13. there will be weeping and grinding of teeth.  And to the centurion Jesus said, Go back, then; let this be done for you, as your faith demands.”  And the servant was cured at that moment.
Cure of Peter’s mother-in-law
14. And going into Peter’s house Jesus found Peter’s mother-in-law in bed and
15. feverish. He touched her hand and the fever left her, and she got up and began to serve him.
Bible Study Saturday!!!
Book of Matthew
 8: 11-15
11. “And I tell you the many will come from east and west and sit down,”
In this verse the directions speaks of the Jews and Gentiles.
This verse speaks about the Jews, or what is considered, at the time, to be the chosen people of God. And the gentiles or what was thought, to be those who did not acknowledge or live by God’s laws and or ways.
12. with Abraham and Isaac and Jacob at the feast in the kingdom of Heaven; but the children of the kingdom will be thrown out into the darkness outside, where
Abraham and Isaac and Jacob at the feast in Heaven.
What is the feast?
The feast in heaven, is thought to be more than fine dinning.  The feast is also what is “due” to those who truly lived by God’s commandments and followed the ways of our Lord; while on earth.  The feast is the just rewards.  Some will feast on the treasures of God, while others will turned away and casted out.
The feast, is those that think they will be guaranteed to be sitting at the table.
Those that think they have “earned” their seat, but due to their dark hearts have not.
 OUCH!!!
“Children of the kingdom will thrown into the darkness weeping and grinding their teeth.”
These “children” are thought to be the children that followed the kingdom not of God, but of darkness, while on earth.
The “weeping”: This is obviously sorrow, torment, feelings of remorse and regret.
The “grinding of the teeth”: This  is most likely those dealing with anxiety over the final judgement.
Those that choose the path of the evil and darkness deeds; while on earth.  Those that did their deeds; not done out of a humble and giving heart.  Those that were hypocrites, maybe? Liars, deceivers, manipulators of God’s ways for profit. OUCH!!!
13. there will be weeping and grinding of teeth.  And to the centurion Jesus said, Go back, then; let this be done for you, as your faith demands.”  And the servant was cured at that moment.
“As the centurion’s faith demands?”
Definition of demand:
-an act of demanding or asking especially with authority
-something claimed as due or owed
Our faith can be demanding?
Our faith can make demands?
WHAT??? Who knew??? I sure didn’t. Nice to know…..
Due to the meaning of demand: Maybe the centurion is saying to Jesus, “my servant has suffered enough. Lived in helpless enough.  It’s time for his restoration and I  am here pleading his case.”  AMEN!!!
Jesus maybe heard the emotion under the words of the commander and was able to feel what torment the servant had experienced or was experiencing.
The servant was healed as soon as Yeshua spoke it!!!!
AMEN!!!
Talk about supernatural.
No delay.
No, timeline to observe.
No, wait a minute.
“at the moment Yeshua Jesus Christ spoke the words…the servant was healed….”
PRAISE GOD ALMIGHTY!!!
Cure of Peter’s mother-in-law
14. And going into Peter’s house Jesus found Peter’s mother-in-law in bed and
Jesus enters the house.
Jesus is in our homes.
Jesus is always with us
AMEN!!!
15. feverish. He touched her hand and the fever left her, and she got up and began to serve him.
Testimony:  I have noticed now when I repent, I feel a release. I feel something leave me.  I know this may not make sense to some, but those who know the miracle of God’s love…….. will understand.
I picture: the fever leaving Peter’s mother-in-laws body, almost like a mist or fog; lifting.
I know, the Bible verse doesn’t say this, but everything has energy; including spirits.
The spirit of ill health and or sickness spirit; so when Yeshua touches her (the mother-in-law) hand, I picture the spirit of sickness leaving her body.
I picture this spirit of sickness (feverish) maybe have been able to have been seen. Either by those who were present at the time of the touching and or Jesus.
AMAZING!!! If this were the case.
I would imagine: when she arose and felt better immediately; she was very grateful.  As Jesus cared for her; she cared for Jesus.
AMEN!!!
I picture her being grateful. As Jesus cared for her; she wanted to care for Jesus.  Just as Jesus provided for her; she want to provide for Jesus.  Just as Jesus nourished her; she wanted to nourish Jesus.
She wasn’t selfish after receiving the healing. Once again we see the healed remaining faithful, appreciative, and obedient , serving, after a blessings/ healing.
 AMEN!!!
Let us pray.
God, we pray to honor you with our service.  Lord, we pray to have bold and surprising faith.  God, we pray to do right your blessings that you have given and untrusted us with.  We pray to glorify you with our works.  Lord, we pray that our life bears witness to your glory.
Father, help us to be easily molded, less suborn, and more faithful.
Father, help us to think more of those who are in need and less of ourselves.  God, help us to know your timing is for a purpose and we are to trust you more and more each day.

The Flyers held their own… for about five periods… before everything came crashing down in game six.
Let’s start with Friday. With Michal Neuvirth in goal and Sean Couturier back after a one-game absence, the Flyers squeaked past the Penguins 4-2 thanks to a game-winning goal by Coots.
Game 6 was expected to be a treat for fans and it gave them some hope that the Flyers could force a Game 7, even though it was expected the Pens would win.
At first, the Flyers came out strong, as they have in nearly every other playoff game. But this time, they actually scored from their early pressures, thanks in part to Couturier. But Michal Neuvirth couldn’t find his Game 5 form and gave up seven goals on 28 shots as the Penguins took the series with an 8-5 win.
Pittsburgh got themselves two goals in under a minute in the first to take a 2-1 lead before Andrew MacDonald (!) tied the game late in the first. As he did in the opening period, Coots scored early to give the Flyers a 3-2 lead and more momentum on a spectacular goal:

Scott Laughton extended the lead to 4-2. For some time, there was the thought that maybe the Flyers would force a Game 7.
But that’s where Jake Guentzel enters the picture. Just over a minute later, he assisted on Patric Hornqvist’s goal to cut the lead to one before scoring the first of four straight goals with 54 seconds left in the second. Pittsburgh took the lead again thanks to Guentzel 30 seconds into the final frame before he scored goals at 12:48 and 12:58 into the third. His hat-trick goal may have killed any chance for a Flyers comeback, especially since the refs missed an obvious trip on Coots by Kris Letang:

There’s no reason why that shouldn’t have been called. It pretty much signaled the end for this team, even though Coots did get a hat-trick late in the game.
Five of the six games in the series were won by the away team, with Game 1 being the only game won by the home team. Five of the six were blowouts, with Game 5 being the only outlier.
After the game, Couturier revealed he played with a torn MCL, which takes about four weeks to recover from. After fighting back tears at the end of the game, Ivan Provorov told reporters “As long as my arm was attached, I was playing.”
The season is over, and I think the loss showed what the face of the Flyers looks like – a 25-year-old center who had a breakout season and is a Selke Trophy finalist and a 21-year-old defenseman who should be a Norris Trophy nominee in the very near future.
The pressure is on for Dave Hakstol to use his rookies in a much larger role. The same for Ron Hextall to make this team better via trades, the NHL Draft, and free agency. There’s a lot of people, myself included, that have been very frustrated with the direction, or lack thereof, that the organization has taken. This team has been very inconsistent, and almost didn’t make the playoffs with a very hot Florida team right behind them. Let’s hope some moves excite this fanbase going into next September’s training camp.

After The Worst of Philadelphia went well, we now have The Not Worst of Philadelphia!
Moving on to a team that’s actually doing well in the playoffs, the Sixers! After a Game 3 win against a chippy Heat team that got their payback for late layups, the Sixers were sloppy in Game 4 with 26 turnovers, 25 of them in the first three quarters.
But they won. This team is now winning games they shouldn’t be, and that’s a huge step in the right direction. JJ Redick had 24 points, but Ben Simmons recorded the team’s first postseason triple-double since Charles Barkley in 1991 with 17 points, 10 assists, and 13 rebounds. He also became the first rookie since Magic to record a triple-double in the playoffs. And some people think he’s not the Rookie of the Year. Lol.
Game 5 is Tuesday night at 8 PM. There’s gonna be excitement in the Wells Fargo Center once again for a winning team.
The Phillies are…good? Not like lucky good, like actually good?
After Jake Arrieta took the first game of a four-game series against the Pirates Thursday night, the Phils took a 2-1 win Friday night thanks to an Odubel Herrera triple in the eighth. They followed that up with a 6-2 win Saturday thanks to another outstanding performance by Aaron Nola and Rhys Hoskins hitting a three-run homer.
Then on Sunday, Aaron Altherr, who’s hitting .157, came up clutch. Entering the game in the seventh, he got three hits, including the game-winning RBI in the 11th for a 3-2 win:

— Philadelphia Phillies (@Phillies) April 22, 2018
A four-game sweep. Good pitching from players other than Aaron Nola, especially from Nick Pivetta. A 9-1 record at home, the best since the 1964 season at Connie Mack Stadium. A 14-7 overall record, which is…A HALF GAME OUT OF FIRST IN THE NL EAST! Is Gabe Kapler good at this?!?
Probably a little early to think that they could make the playoffs, but there’s definitely some hope.
“We’re having a lot of fun. Keeping it light, we laugh in the dugout. I hope you guys are seeing that. A lot of smiles and a lot of laughter, and after the games, we’re having a great time in [the clubhouse]. We take it seriously and we prepare like animals, but we also enjoy each others’ company and we’re laughing a lot.”
The team is off today. They’ll start a three-game series with the Arizona Diamondbacks tomorrow night.
Nick Foles got a reworked contract Friday afternoon. It’s pretty much him getting a bonus for winning the Super Bowl, as he should get. There’s also an option for 2019 and other playing incentive bonuses, if Carson Wentz isn’t ready to play or gets hurt again.
Another player got a restructured contract. Right guard Brandon Brooks:
Source: the Eagles created $6.37M in cap space by reworking the deal of Pro Bowl G Brandon Brooks. He converted base salary into bonuses, dropping his cap number to $4.768M for this year.
— Field Yates (@FieldYates) April 23, 2018
Brooks pretty much confirmed the restructured deal. Because he wanted to give more money to Foles for winning the Super Bowl:
If your wondering about the restructure I get 4 mill now 4mill by sept 1 with a couple hundred thousand over the season. The reason I did it was bc the FUCKIN SB MVP DESERVED MORE MONEY @NickFoles . Love you bro #WhateverItTakes
— Brandon Brooks (@bbrooks_79) April 23, 2018
God I love this team.
As for the NFL Draft on Thursday, the team could be trading down.
32. PHILADELPHIA—CONNOR WILLIAMS, G-T, TEXAS
But I think the Eagles are much more likely to deal this pick; I just don’t know to whom. They’re seeking a trade—that I can tell you. Philadelphia has no pick in round two or three, and the Eagles don’t pick till the end of round four. So as of now, they go from 33 to 129 without a pick. That’s why they’ll be trying to deal all night Thursday. If they stick … The Eagles have a 35-year-old left tackle, Jason Peters, coming off major injury, and starting guards (Stefan Wisniewski and Brandon Brooks) who will be 29 this season. Connor’s the perfect pick for them, in the unlikely event they stick.
Before Thursday night, enjoy the team’s self-produced 2017 yearbook documentary.
Another match, another loss for the Union. They fell to FC Dallas 2-0 Saturday night to fall to 1-3-2 on the season. They’ll host D.C. United Saturday at Talen Energy Stadium.
In other sports news, let’s take a look at the NBA and NHL playoffs:
Game 4s for Houston-Minnesota and Oklahoma City-Utah are tonight on TNT.
The two remaining Eastern Conference Game sixes are tonight as well.
Oakland A’s pitcher Sean Manaea had the first no-hitter of the 2018 season.

The scriptures. May God bless the reading of His holy word.
As Jesus and His disciples were on their way, He came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to Him. She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what He said. But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to Him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!”
“Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”
 Luke 10:38-42
This ends today’s reading from God's holy word. Thanks be to God.
Some people seem to run wide open every day. Every waking minute is filled with some task or activity. There is seemingly no interest in time to rest and even if they tried to find respite for their bodies, these types of people would find it nearly impossible to shut their minds down, constantly processing what is still’s yet to be done and how it could get accomplished.
 Does this describe you?
If so, then I would label you a Martha.
Stay with me and you’ll see what I mean. You’ll also see how Jesus warns against living your life in this fashion.
But before we go there, we need to talk about the anti-compulsively driven person, a person who is able to keep their priorities straight, despite life’s demands. A person who can put things on hold when necessary to turn toward something far more important than worldly concerns.
If this is you, then I label you a Mary, living a kind of life that Jesus advocates for.
Let’s now look at our scripture passage from the Gospel of Luke, the tenth chapter, and bring this all into focus:
As Jesus and His disciples were on their way, He came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to Him. She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what He said. But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to Him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!”
“Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”  Luke 10:38-42
The scene as this passage opens is strikingly different than the one we saw in yesterday’s devotion. In that message, you’ll recall that the Samaritans baled at rolling out the red carpet as Jesus and His disciples traveled through Samaria on their way to Jerusalem. Allowing the years and years of hatred and conflict to rise to the forefront, the Samaritans failed to accommodate Jesus and His followers. And so He moved on.
Here in our verses from Luke, Chapter 10, we find that two sisters, Martha and Mary, willingly opened their home to invite Jesus and His disciples in. Of interest, Martha and Mary were the sisters of Lazarus who you’ll remember died before being resurrected by Jesus (John 11). John’s account of this miraculous act by Jesus prefaced it by saying that He loves all three siblings. We also learn that it was Mary who anointed Jesus feet with expensive perfume and wiped His feet with her hair (John 12:1-8).
Back to the welcoming of Jesus into Martha and Mary’s home where we find Martha busily preparing to serve her guests, distracted by all she felt she needed to do. At the same time, Mary was sitting at Jesus’ feet, listening intently to everything He was saying. It couldn’t be more of a stark contrast in behaviors and attitudes between the two sisters.
Well, we see Martha, hurrying around trying to get everything done that she felt was important, miffed at her sister just sitting around when she could use help. But rather than yell at her sister, Martha takes the matter to Jesus, interrupting His conversation with those who were hearing Him out while trying to get Him to side with her. Here’s what she had the nerve to say to the Messiah, the very Son of God:
“Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!”
On the outside looking in, this looks like a completely ludicrous request, one that made no sense. Martha wished to pull her sister away from important one-on-one time from the man who would be her Savior, the Lamb of God sent to take away the sins of the world. It looks and sounds crazy but friends, this is how our enemy works within the framework of the world where he roams like a lion waiting to devour those who lose their focus on the Lord (1 Peter 5:8). Martha was so wrapped up in household matters that she was dragged away from where she should have been, sitting with her sister at Jesus’ feet and sharing fellowship with Him. Or as Jesus put it:
“Martha, Martha, you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”
The point was that there may be many things that Martha could have been worried and concerned about but there was only one thing that truly mattered and that was sharing time with Him, the “better way” chosen by Mary.
Today, the world wants to pull us in every direction possible, so much so that too often people lose sight of the One who is more important than anything else: Jesus. Indeed, how many people do not go to church on Sundays because they are running their kids to soccer or baseball or football or basketball games? They see their children benefitting more from running after, kicking, catching, batting, or shooting a ball instead of in a Sunday School classroom or church pew, learning about Jesus. They are just one species of Martha out there. Certainly, there are plenty of others but they all share the same common traits. They are more concerned with the things of the world and achieving whatever it pulls them to then they are making quiet time to sit with their Savior and listen to Him, through the power of the Holy Spirit or the reading of the Bible.
If you make church a priority as well as time to study the Bible, pray for your needs and the needs of others, and share the good news of the Gospel with those in need of salvation then you are in Mary’s corner and in the favor of Jesus because you have chosen what is better.
 Amen.
 In Christ,
Mark

the bachelor, season twenty-two, episode one: call me a private detective on a hbo comedy because i am bored to death.
Admittedly, I don’t know many things.
I really know a lot of things about the things I do know, but the things I don’t know I don’t care about. There are things I want to know but haven’t had the time or patience to learn - looking at you, crocheting.
But I do know that Arie Ludenchyksdjkfds, Jr. has the personality of low-fat mayonnaise. You know Lay’s Lightly Salted chips? Arie was the inspiration for those. Arie is massively boring and I kind of love him for it. Then again, we were last treated with Nick Viall and Ben Higgins before him, so we’re realistically just dealing with different shades of beige at this point.
Arie is our Little Engine That Could1 who so badly wanted to be the Chosen One - both by Emily Maynard and for the title of The Bachelor. It’s been five years since his turn on La Bachelorette2, and in that five years, he hasn’t dated and he’s stopped racing cars and now is in real estate! HOW SPLENDIDLY BORING. But now he’s ready to settle down. Because the race is over, but it’s really just beginning.
I hate what this show does to me.
Sean and Catherine roll up with their baby, and Sean salts the would that he was picked to be Bachelor over Arie in some weird way of attempting to convince us all this process works for people. See? They have a baby! They get to do other reality shows now! It’s all great! Arie does his obligatory photoshoot and moves into the Bachelor Fuck Pad.
And away... we... go.
We’re greeted by Chris Harrison, who’s back to being my Mortal Enemy once again after the disaster that was last season of Paradise. He’s all skeevy telling us that Arie’s the best kisser the show ever had and how they’ve collected a great group of girls that all thought they were going to get Peter as The Bachelor and now they’re stuck with Arie!
We meet Chelsea, who’s a single mom from Portland, Maine3 who’s pumped that Arie’s the bachelor because Emily Maynard was a single mom, and so is she! Relationship connections be damned, they have something in common. Next in Caroline, a realtor from Fort Lauderdale. She’s my age and has already sold $5 million in sales and I want to jump from a bridge. Caroline is boring.
Next is Maquel, which is not a fucking name, and she’s a professional photographer, which means she may own a Canon Rebel she bought in high school. She’s like, 23, and said she watched Arie on The Bachelorette. 5 years ago. That’s just gross, imo. Nysha’s a big fan of adrenaline rushes - she’s a nurse and likes skydiving.
Oh my god, they’re all so boring. I can’t be witty when I’m half asleep.
Tia is 26 and from Weiner, Arkansas. Cue weiner jokes all around this podunk town. Oh, and we get to see Raven from Nick’s season! She’s the reason Tia’s here. If it doesn’t work out, their friendship is over. Hell, it’s over if it does. Raven would lose it. Kendall collects taxidermy and plays the god damn ukulele4 and lives in Los Angeles. I hate Kendall. That’s all. I bet Kendall has a Pinterest page called “wanderlust”.
Bekah reminds me of my friend Jordan with her cute short haircut. She’s a nanny, but considers herself gentle and exciting. Next up is Marikh, who needs to be the center of attention and be pursued. She runs an Indian restaurant with her mom and Marikh is my favorite.
Krystal is 29, lives in San Diego, and Krystal reminds me so much of Kristen Chenoweth I can’t handle it. She’s like a taller, more deluded Kristen Chenoweth. She’s very into nutrition and helping others, she donates to the homeless because her brother is homeless and refuses her help. I didn’t cry.
Fuuuck I cried with Krystal help me.
THE LIMOS ARE ARRIVING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Chris Harrison greets Arie and they pretend like they like each other for a bit. Arie’s nervous because realistically he never really expected it to happen. Chris Harrison is essentially like “what’s wrong with you?” and Arie’s like “Emily was it for me and that’s it so it’s time to find someone like her.” Or some nonsense. I can’t figure out what Arie’s narrative is going to be this season. Meanwhile, Chris Harrison tries to hide his horns.
Caroline is the first out of the limo in a white sequined gown. She makes a hilariously bad “off the market” job in reference to them both being realtors. It’s so bad, but it works. Chelsea is next, and there’s nothing worth commenting on except she's trying to be mysterious and failing. Kendall is nervous as hell. Then Seinne comes out and I scream because I love when black women arrive on this show in any capacity. She gifts him elephant cuff-links with such a well thought out response, I died.
Next is Tia, who’s there to continue her weiner jokes. Bibiana doesn’t know that blue eyes are a recessive gene. Krystal gets a big reaction in her red dress. Krystal’s vocal fry is so real. Bekah arrives in a classic car and all the girls are incensed - it’s going to be a long night and it’s only just beginning.
Jenna is 100% arms and hands when she talks. Jessika gives him a rock. None of the girls expected the competition to be as tough as it is on night one, but it’s like they’ve never seen this show before. Becca K basically convinces Arie to get on his knee for her, and I like her immediately.
There’s about a baziilion Laurens this season, and Lauren S. is the first one. Then comes Lauren J. ANOTHER LAUREN B. and another Lauren J,, then Lauren G. oh my god. They should have done what Tyra Banks does on Top Model5 and made thse girls go by nicknames. God damn.
Cue the “we’re trying too hard to impress” montage. One woman is too tan and owns a spray-tan company and has seen a lot of dicks. One woman asks Arie to smell her. I need to nap.
Okay, I’m awake again.
We do get Annaliese, who arrives in a mask because i LOVE WHEN PEOPLE WEAR MASKS ON THIS SHOW. We never learn your face. Maquel whips her head after she takes her helmet off like she thinks she’s in Talladega Nights. Maquel is 23 years old, and Maquel needs to focus her priorities elsewhere, in my humble opinion.
Then Chris Harrison comes in and reminds us all of the First Impression Rose, aka the You Gave Me My First Non-Viagra Boner In Years6. All the girls scream when Arie walks in and reminds us that it’s be FIVE YEARS since he was on this franchise. Five fucking years he just sat around and waited to be picked as Bachelor.
Chelsea is the first to swoop in and grab Arie, barely after their arms have fallen after the toast. All the girls are shooketh at how quickly Chelsea ran up in there, but guys - that’s the name of the game. Get in there quick, figure out if it’s right, and if it is, coo, if it’s not, bye. Go back to your normal lives. He literally has two-and-a-half baker’s dozens of women waiting to meet him over the span of basically three hours.
Arie thinks Chelsea’s mysterious after meeting her for 30 seconds. I guess her trying to appear mysterious worked for him, and now I’ve confirmed that likely Arie is one of the reasons Family Guy is in its sixteenth season. There are just some shows where I just wonder “who is still watching you?” Arie’s still watching Family Guy. He’s that kind of person. Chelsea talks about making a sacrifice and Arie’s like I’M INTRIGUED and I’m just like, bitch, tell him you have a kid and get it over with. Do not keep your kid a secret from someone you want to be your future partner. I don’t understand the looooogic. Chelsea is pissed when Maquel comes and interrupts them.
I love when people get upset at the general conceit of this entire show like it hasn’t been running since Arie was born (i.e. 850 B.C.). Chelsea is salty as hell that Maquel, who arrived in a racecar and is twenty-three years old, had the gall to interrupt her. She’s like, “Of course it’s the girl in the LOUD CAR that interrupted me.” Is there any girl you wouldn’t have been upset with, Chelsea? “Baby Christina Ricci over there interrupted me with her flat chest and baby face.” “One of the MILLIONS OF LAURENS interrupted me by being a Lauren all over the place!”
Quit it, Chelsea. Quit it7.
Maquel, who is still twenty-three trying to date a thirty-six year old8 takes a selfie with Arie, and god, he is so boring. Even his “goofy” faces are boring. Meanwhile, Khelsey is still complaining about how bad it would look for Maquel to interrupt them, and Maquel admits that she and Arie talked about pretty much nothing during their conversation.
These people.
Arie talks to some girl who doesn’t even get a chyron so clearly she’s a NonFactor of the moment, and we learn that 36-year-old Arie came back because he’s a Man now, instead of 31-year-old Arie, who was Just A Boy. We infantilze white men so easily in this country, ain’t no way in hell a 31-year-old is a boy. He still can’t stop mentioning his connection with Emily, though. He doesn’t know why it works better for him on The Bachelor than it does in real life other than it’s a completely isolated situation where your only focus is on one other person the entire time, so it’s just easier. Arie sounds lazy AF. Basically he’s telling us it probably didn’t work for him in real life because he moves far too quickly too easily and at least on The Bachelor it’s socially acceptable and actually praised.
Arie joins Marikh on an outdoor couch and he literally looks like a little boy talking to his therapist. I firmly take back every complaint I had about Nick last season because Arie is SO BORING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He has nothing to say. At all. Everything is “I’m just as nervous as you,” and “I’m looking to meet someone, too.” There’s this amazing moment on Real Housewives of Beverly Hills where Mauricio Umansky is talking and Camille Grammer is basically repeating everything he says to him back to his face “So sad,” “It’s so... sad.” and that’s what I imagine dating Arie is like.
If I wanted that, I’d get a parrot.
All of the black girls (and Annaliese, still wearing her sparkly mask) talk about if they’ve dated interracially before and honestly this is probably the most screentime at least two of them will have until they’re eliminated. I cannot tell any of these women apart - and they’re giving so many little cutaways of the girls just being hopeful that they’ll get a 1/30 chance of being picked or realistically, a 1/909 chance of being picked at The Bachelorette.
Brittany takes Arie aside and they race like, minicars and all she wants to do is kiss him. Brittany wins and gets a kiss, and I’m just thrilled a black girl got the first kiss of the season. SO PROUD. All the other girls are like, “wait, it’s been fifteen minutes and he’s already kissing?” Khelsey is mostly mad that she feels she had thirty seconds with Arie and everyone else got like, ten minutes or an hour or five years10.
Oh, Kendall brought her ukulele. She sang a song about fish. I am sitting here with just a stank face on. I can’t help myself.
There’s a lot of girls feeding Arie, including one girl who confesses that “pineapple” is her safe word. Jenna gives Arie a foot massage and she’s very in tune with her senses so her being 100% arms makes sense. Jenna’s a little drunk already and I love it. I love the first drunk girl. Annaliese is unsure if she wants Arie to see her face behind her mask, and she’s already my favorite becuase she’s “not a nickname kind of person.” Me either. My name has three syllables. Annaliese also has my favorite dress of the night - the teal gown with the cutouts, gorgeous.
Becca K. and Arie have nice, if not bland conversation, but it’s the conversation that two people who are comfortable have. So many of the girls are freaking out because they haven’t talked to Arie yet, and of course, here comes Human Toenail Chris Harrison to drop the First Impression Rose down. Having the First Impression Rose is both a good thing and a bad thing - clearly he likes you, but the girls already know you’re a threat.
The girls who haven’t had a moment essentially start lining up one by one and waiting in a corner to start interrupting Arie and trying to get their time in. And Khelsey, fueled entirely by the notion that She Was Robbed, decided now it’s time for her second go-around. She regrets going first because she’s worried about being forgotten. Krystal, my emotionally fragile broken bird, is with Arie, and he’s like, “I want to get to know you.” And the first thing out of her mouth is, “I’m a Libra.”
KRYSTAL STOP IT. Tell him you like health and fitness! Tell him you do work out videos or whatever! Hell, tell him you really like lipstick. ANYTHING BUT YOUR ASTROLOGICAL SIGN, PUH-LEASE. Khelsey comes in when Arie is complimenting Kelsey’s voice11 and asks for more time. She doesn’t care if it makes her unpopular, getting a second round. Effectively, this is Khelsey pissing on Arie’s leg. She just wants to remind him of who she is and make sure that he knows she’s there for him. They kiss, and she’s nice enough to be like, “okay, go be with the other girls.”
How kind of you, Khelsey. She immediately runs to the other girls what she did and they’re all like, “oh, that’s who she is.” Because the house has zero clocks and they only have a rose to stare at, the girls are already going stircrazy. Khelsey’s literally like, “Oh, I didn’t know a few of you had never talked to him,” and pretending like she really cared. Arie wants to make sure the girl he picks is honest and truthful and really shares with him, which... god. It makes these women sound like peanut butter, and not in the RuPaul kind of way12. One girl is even like, my dad met you once and he just passed away but he approves, which is basically what everyone wants to hear on a first date.
Bekah, who is twenty-two years old and needs to get away from this franchise immediately, repeats her opening line over and over while Arie talks about three things that make him excited to be alive.
Excitement - Arie is excited about excitement and I am actually crying, he really is Lightly Salted Lays
Adrenaline - ... How is adrenaline any different from excitement? I’ll wait.
Pizza - It’s official, Arie is the personification of the Basic White Dude Starter Kit.
Bekah’s answers are straight fire. And she’s twenty-two years old. Arie’s a dweeb.
Arie comes in for the First Impression Rose, and he grabs Khelsey. Her re-return worked in her favor, and Arie appreciated her going after what she wanted. Krystal is especially pissed because she felt like she was in the middle of something with Arie when Khelsey came back.
We head into the first Rose Ceremony of the season, and the sun is rising. This entire experience seems exhausting. I’m one of those “I need a vacation from this vacation” kind of people - my time off is usually jam packed with all the shit I didn’t do because I was working, so I can only imagine that this would be my personal hell. I’m always tired. If they told me my call was 11:30 PM I’d be out. There are very few occasions where going out that late has ever ended well for me.
THE ROSES ARE GIVEN AWAY IN THE CEREMONY OF ROSES.
Becca K., Kendall, Lauren G., Koach Krystal, Bekah, Lauren S., Seinne, Caroline, Brittany T., Bibiana, Annaliese, Jenna, Valerie13, Jacqueline, Jenny14, Lauren B., Ashley, Tia, and Maquel all get roses. Maquel has the indecency to be like “Arie, why’d you do that to me?!” and that seems like quite the insensitive joke to be making at that moment, Maquel.
We’re saying goodbye to Ali, Amber, Bri, Brittane J., Jessica, Lauren J., Nysha and Olivia, of course, because we got to know them so well. Then again, Nysha did get an opening segment. Nysha, we barely knew you.
The girls are ejected into the daylight and while they’re upset now, they feel a heavy, boring burden lifted off of their shoulders. Arie’s in the driver’s seat now (eyeroll). It’s gonna be more like a Subaru than a racecar, though.
This Season on El Bachelor: We’re in Tuscany! We’re in Paris! Bekah making out in front of the Moulin Rouge! Making out in the snow! Tia’s in love! Krystal’s in love! My queen Sienne is in love! Khelsey thinks she deserves more time with Arie because she’s a mother and that means she gets more time. I don’t understand that logic, but okay. Bibiana’s not here to fuck around and tells the cameras to get out of her face. Krystal’s facade has broken. Everyone thinks Bekah’s so young (she is). Teary montage! Arie’s caught the feels! Someone’s ex is back and there to get his girl back.
... So, basically, your standard Bachelor season.
See you soon.
Random Assessments from the Desk of Amanda:
Jessica looks like just Jessalyn Gilsig. So many people on this season are just versions of other people.
I’m so sorry this blog is so late. I’m catching up. I swear. I’m not going to be that behind. ONWARDS AND CATCHING UPWARDS.
How tired of the race car puns are we going to get and how quickly?
God damn it, even this show has me making stupid racecar references. ↩︎
They made out against the John Lennon Wall in Prague! I did that! ↩︎
I almost said the “white Portland” and then I realized they’re both the White Portland so, you decide. ↩︎
Why does everyone want to play the ukulele and no one wants to play the goddamn harmonica? ↩︎
Something something podcast something something. ↩︎
Arie is basically as old as Jax Taylor, who invented dating. ↩︎
I’m genuinely shocked that her name is spelled the traditional way, and not the millions of phonetic variations. I weirdly want to call her Khelsey. I keep typing Khelsey. ↩︎
YOU TWO HAVE NOTHING IN COMMON. I dated someone ten years older than I was and that to me was a fine line, I’m just lucky I had two older brothers who treated me like I was their age. Let me put it this way: Arie’s still using Snapchat and you think Instagram Stories are “old school”. ↩︎
My early predictions for The Bachelorette? Tia. I think if Raven had wanted it last season, it would have been hers - but for the first episode out, I’m just calling Tia my front runner. ↩︎
That’s Emily. ↩︎
Manic Pixie Vocal Fry tbh ↩︎
MUST BE JELLY CAUSE JAM DON’T SHAKE ↩︎
WHO? ↩︎
Along with 100 Laurens, they had a Jenny and a Jenna? Nothing is good in this world. ↩︎
