Ancient Egyptians held cats in the highest esteem.
The penalties of injuring a cat were severe and killing a cat led to capital punishment.
They worshipped a cat goddess, half woman and half feline, whom they called Bastet.
When the cat dies, it is the duty of the owners to give them proper burial along with rituals. They shave their head, eyebrows or beard to show their grief.
They even conduct after life rituals for their cat in order to gain blessings from Goddess Bastet.
Cat was embalmed with a sculpted wooden mask and then placed in the family tomb or pet cemetery (premises of Temple of Goddess Bastet) with tiny mummies of mice.
The state maintained the cats in the temple of Goddess Bastet. Head priest of the temple was in charge of maintenance of cats in temple premises.
The state also took charge of burial and rituals of stray cats.
The whole kingdom loved and respected cats. Their owners loved and treated them as their own child throughout Egyptian Civilization.

Hi! I'd like to ask, do you have some info on Kemetic deities? I don't know where to start in terms of research. – your new anon, 🎀💉
Hello! Absolutely I can do that! I'm not sure if you're looking for anything specific but I can't give you some simple things to get started. :)
First of all, some of the most popular gods most people start with would be Anubis (Anpu) or Bastet (Bast). Anpu is the Egyptian god of the afterlife, embalming, death, mummification, etc etc. Bastet is the goddess of cats, love, dancing, music, pleasure, perfume, etc etc. They are very starter friendly, and I can prove that because Anpu was the first to reach out to me lol.
If you want to make a simple starting altar, that works too! Could just use color coded things, objects that remind you of them, or just some simple rocks or plants will do as well. They also LOVE handcrafted things. They will gladly take them as offerings! Bread and water work perfectly as an offering for almost any kemetic deity. It's simple and quick to make for them. When giving food offerings to the deities, it is most common to consume the offering after the deity has. Almost like having a quick meal with them and is the most respectful thing to do. :)
In terms of research, Wikipedia and mythopedia work for deity stories and background information! I never really went to any website for worshipping information, I have always been stuck to social media. Tumblr has many posts and blogs committed to kemetic worship! I have also found Reddit and Pinterest helpful to!
If you have any other questions, don't be afraid to message me! I'll try to respond ASAP!
Hopefully this helped you though, good luck on your journey, friend. 🫶
Dua Netjer 🙏

I just came back from a week and a half long vacation to New Orleans and the Caribbean. Before I left I reached out to Isis, Artemis, Apollo, Hermes, Bast, the Universe, and all of my guides to help keep myself and my family safe from the heat.
Thankfully, everyone had a great time and no one had too much trouble with the ridiculous temps!
So now it is time to give thanks and offerings for those who kept an eye out for us.

Is Bastet reaching out to me and my friends?
(This is quite the long story btw)
So for context, my friends (who are also Pagan and Witches (ones Wiccan)) were on a late night walk yesterday when we happened to run into some events and cats. First we ran into this big cat and a guy looking for his wallet was driving around and asked us (which we hadnt but I hope he did find it lmao). Next on our way to the park we ran into this stray pregnant black cat (who I just found out today is 8-9 months old). She followed us all the way to the park and then all the way back to my house afterwards. Though as we were at the park this (possibly drunk) driver drove off the road, onto the sidewalk, then into the grass towards us. This is when we decided to book it out of the park and back to my house (Which the black cat still followed us). I decided to keep her at my house since she was not leaving my front door. So right now we are keeping her in my garage with food, water, a bed, and a litter box. (We would keep her inside but she is very aggressive around my other cats).
Anyways if anyone does read this all the way through, I was wondering if this could be some sign from Bastet to me and my friends? Or maybe just one of us?
