So I’m aware I haven’t really posted anything in a while but I hope this reaches someone. My brother’s name is Efren. Growing up he used to tease and make fun of me, but among all the teasing he also helped raise me along with our mom. When he was little he wanted to be an architect. But his is the story that a lot of Mexican American working class families face: either take the opportunities available to you to attain your dreams, or curtail those in order to take care of your family. He chose his family.
After graduating high school he turned down full ride scholarships in order to stay and work to help pay the bills. It was just him, my mom, and me. After a couple of years we got stable enough economically that he was able to go to college, but after graduation we fell on hard times again and instead of finding work in his field or applying to architecture school like he always dreamed, he decided to stick around and help us again. It's because of his choice to help our family that I was able to go to college too, something that for a time I didn't think was possible. It's because of him that I was able to apply to and get accepted into a PhD program in the hopes of becoming a professor. It's because of him that my mom has a house to call her own. My mom and I owe him everything.
Yesterday, he was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). He's uninsured. I'm a student, our mom works in childcare. There's a high success rate for remission if he gets treatment, but we can't afford it. He's all me and my mom have, and we can't lose him. He chose family growing up, and it's my turn to choose him. Please, any donation helps. I just want him to come home.
I know times are tough with covid and everything so if anyone could please just spare a dollar or a reblog thatd be great. I can’t lose him.

My dad isn't the best dad in the world. He's flawed and we fight a lot, and most of it is because of our financial situation. He's the sole earner of my family but things haven't been looking up for us the past few years. It is one of the reasons why things have gotten as bad as it is now- I should have known that he's hidden his illness for a while now because he doesn't want to add more debt into our family burden just because of a "small cough", especially with the pandemic.
It turns out, he has pneumonia and high glucose blood levels. The pneumonia made a hospital reject giving him first aid care this Monday (22/3) despite his COVID tests showing up negative because they were "incapable of handling a possible COVID patient" due to the fact that my dad's lungs x-rays had signs of infection on it. Keep in mind that he has a high fever and isn't even able to walk or go to the bathroom by himself. They didn't even provide a sufficient IV drip for my dad or a fitting oxygen mask. Monday night we brought him home in hopes of treating his sickness at home because we couldn't afford any other options. At 1am, he woke up from his sleep at home and puked. We brought him to an ER 30 mins away that told us on the phone that they would take a patient with possible pneumonia as long as their COVID-19 test come out negative. When we got there, they just stood there for 20 mins looking at my dad convulsing in the car before rejecting to give him care after I showed him his lung results. I begged them to at least give him first aid but they told me condescendingly that if my dad passed away, they wouldn't be liable. So I went home in tears.
Tuesday 6AM my dad went into septic shock. Money be damned, I called an ambulance from a private hospital that informed me they would take possible patients despite them having COVID or not. I thought that my dad could get the first aid help and then later be admitted to a normal room, but when the medics arrived the first thing they told me was: he has to be put into an ICU.
I have just recently resigned from my job due to high risk of COVID-19 exposure, and both my mom and my sibling are unemployed. We've asked for friends and family for help, but it's just not enough given that we don't have an insurance and an ICU room costs $1k/night. As we're living in a third world country, no medical action will be taken before we given if we don't pay first. We've used up all of our penny to the last drop to keep my dad plugged into the ICU machines and keep him alive to this daym
As of right now, he's fighting as hard as he can to keep his body alive. He's doing his best, and I know I should do my best too. I've ran out of options.
If you can help us, please donate at my gofundme or paypal. If you can't, a reblog would help immensely.
His whole life, my dad has always teased me that I don't love him as I never express it verbally. You know how us Asians get- I never said it to him because I assumed that he should just know.
Please help me tell my dad that I love him to his face.

Hey guys! I've decided to open up a top surgery fund after a good many years. Any support is greatly greatly appreciated- if even half of you donated £1 I'd be at my goal with this! Check out my fund if u have the time!
Gofundme unfortunately uses a £5 minimum donation (trashy) so if you'd like you can toss a coin at my paypal instead, and I'll transfer those funds into the gofundme pool whenever possible.

After an accident that has left me with a hairline fracture in my vertebrae, I am now in desperate need of additional funds in order to get an increasingly critical surgery to prevent paralysis or death. This is in addition to the already established itinerary of surgeries needed to remove the multiple growths in my spine that are expanding and growing everyday. I am terrified of what feels inevitable, and I am in so much pain. I truly need help. I am sorry to continue bombarding your dashboards with my pleas for help, but I wouldn't be doing it if this were not a life or death situation. Please share this, and if you are able, I sincerely need donations. All of my expenses are piling up on me all at once, and I can't number the amount of panic attacks this catastrophe has caused me to have. I am so terrified, and I honestly feel so much shame in having to ask for help to keep me alive, but if there is anyone that can spare anything out of the kindness of their hearts, I cannot tell you how much it would mean to me. You would quite literally be saving my life.
I only have so long before irreparable damage is done to my spine, so I humbly plead with you all to share this and donate, if possible. I love you all, and wish the best for you. I sincerely hope that this is one of the last posts of this kind that I will ever have to make.

more on the murder (likely assassination) of Winston Smith Jr.
Winston Smith was killed by federally deputized sheriffs at 2pm on June 3rd, 2021, on a rooftop parking garage after a date (first picture). His date was with him in the car and was treated for shrapnel wounds after the murder.
Law enforcement initially claimed Smith produced a gun, leading them to fire. They then said they found his gun in the glove compartment.
Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is choosing not to release the names of officers involved.
No officers were wearing body cameras.
Police have been escalating violence at protests for Smith, including the arrest of 2 water protectors from Camp Migizi, a site of resistance against the Line 3 pipeline.
Police used a “spit bag” (plastic mesh bag) over the head of one of the water protectors arrested.
Star Tribune initially reported that Smith was a murder suspect according to sources they won’t name. 5 days later, they rebuked their post and reported that Smith was wanted for illegal possession of firearm.
Community members claim Smith was a revolutionary and that this was an assassination. His social media posts align with this, as he’s quoted saying: “All this protesting shit, Y’all still coming with y’all ‘hands up’ saying y’all surrender. Beggin for y’all freedom. Asking for justice. Is y’all serious? Y’all serious? That’s the plan? … Something wrong with y’all … When Martin Luther King was here, we had a million motherfuckers marching saying ‘let’s be peaceful’ but now y’all still begging for your freedom and they still shooting y’all down.”

SAVE A GIRLS SERVICE DOG
(The gif is just a placeholder until I figure out how the hecks to get the photo of makana's dog out of the gofundme, cause if you don't have photos it's not eye-catching and thats. Very counterintuitive.)
I know this is a little bit out of the ordinary for me, but this is serious. An online friend of mine, Makana, needs help paying for a lawyer to keep her service dog. She has severe mental health complications that would make it extremely difficult for her to function without Buddy, who she's had for over 5 years now. She's currently preparing for a nasty court case between her and her mother over the custody of Buddy. (See site for more details) Anything you give goes towards her lawyer. If you can donate any margin of money, whether that be 20 dollars or just mere cents, it would be greatly appreciated. If you can't donate, it's fine, that's okay, but PLEASE reblog for reach, or make your own post if you must. I don't care what you do, as long as it's something.

hey i haven’t seen this gofundme circulating here yet, but this is organized by the son of Hyun Jung Grant, one of the eight atlanta shooting victims. his mother was a single mom and they don’t have any other family in the united states, so he will be raising his younger brother and organizing the funeral on his own.
please consider sharing this link and/or donating to alleviate some of the stress and in memory of his mother and the other victims in atlanta. the original goal at this time has been met, but this family will be dealing with long-term expenses on top of the trauma they’ve suffered.

I dont do PSAs often but in light of the recent news about the fires in BC which are absolutely devastating,
DO NOT SUPPORT THE GOFUNDME BY ROMANA DIDULO.
This woman is a QAnon conspiracy theorist who has declared herself Queen Of Canada and has sent out proclamations to stop vaccinations and shutdowns under the penalty of *execution* to many pharmacies and the like across Canada. I do not trust a single penny of this GoFundMe to go actual fire victims and even if it did it's just legitimizing a woman who's followers are potentially using this justification to intimidate and commit horrific acts. There hasnt been anything serious YET but as a Canadian myself I am extremely worried about the implications. Please find a legitimate source to donate though and NOT through her at all!!

If you can’t donate, please reblog when you see this. I’m desperate. Thank you!

Trigger warning for blood, PTSD, anxiety, car crash… sorry guys I have a concussion and I didn’t know or remember to put trigger warning.
On June 2, 2021, I was hit by a truck in downtown Orlando while riding one of the popular motorized scooters. My head struck the ground, I reached my hand to the back of my head, I saw blood, and I screamed. I was rushed to the emergency room for head trauma. I received staples for my scalpel laceration. The doctor removed, stitched a nicked artery, and re-stapled my scalp. I was also treated for horrific roadrash on my back.
I am traumatized. I have been involved in several car wrecks in the last 2 years. My daily transportation is the scooter. In this transitional phase of my life I’ve been dealing with previous medical expenses, mental health therapy for my anxiety, PTSD, and depression. This accident only takes away from my quality of life. I am facing a very long road to recovery that will take patience, compassion, and help from my family and friends.

it’s almost 1 AM but after seeing some stuff come up on my dash about what has been taking place in Minneapolis this month & reading a lot of comments questioning the validity of the events I just wanted to clear some stuff up to the best of my ability as someone who is currently living in Uptown
First off, on June 3rd SEVERAL undercover police shot and killed Winston Smith in a parking ramp located on Lake Street and Girard in Uptown Minneapolis. There has been SO little released to the public about this incident. In my personal experience, it was reported to me (by a doctor whom I was at an appointment with a few blocks away) at the time of the murder as an “active shooter incident.” I later found out that this claim was incredibly false & dangerous. I don’t know where or how this doctor got this information, they were only informing me so I could leave the clinic safely.
On the very same morning of Winston’s murder (which took place around 2pm) the City of Minneapolis forcibly removed the barricades that had been up at George Floyd Square (GFS) or 38th & Chicago in the ~midtown area of the city where Floyd was murdered last May 25th 2020. Since that day, residents of the block and community have made GFS an autonomous zone. Meaning no government or police personnel have been allowed to step foot in it. The community has used it as a place of mourning and there have been many gatherings, celebrations, protests, etc. that have taken place there over the course of this year. During the trial of Derek Chauvin the phrase “no justice no street” was used heavily within the area and community to express that the members did not want the square to open back up without the demands of the community being met. (Literally every single person I have met or talked to about this issue cherishes GFS as a sacred area)
Our mayor, Jacob Frey took it upon himself and his city council members to ignore the demands of the community, and forcibly reopen the square in the early, early morning of June 3rd - later that afternoon Winston was murdered.
In the 10 days following Winston’s murder, a few (compared to the number for GF or Duante Wright) protests had taken place at the sight of his murder. It wasn’t until this past weekend 6/12-6/13, that more people began to gather as his funeral was held on those days. On the night of June 13th, people were gathered to celebrate Winston. They had barricaded the street with their cars and other objects and were playing games like volleyball and red light/green light, when a man drove his vehicle full speed into the barricades to “try and jump them” (per his words in the criminal report). Which injured three people and killed 31 year old Deona Marie who was sitting on the sidewalk. I was not there that night but what from I have heard and seen, the police reacted incredibly slow to apprehend the driver and showed up in riot gear to address the protestors instead.
Following Deona’s murder, the response by the community (& subsequently the police) has heightened. Community gathered this week to celebrate what would have been her 32nd birthday only to be met with mass arrests and tear gas (something we are very used to at this point). I have heard reports of the National Guard being called in but I have yet to see any with my own eyes so I don’t feel comfortable stating it as a fact HOWEVER, I’m sure they’ll be here by the weekend as our mayor quite literally has them on speed dial. (They occupied the city for a solid 2 weeks this past April during the aftermath of the murder of Duante Wright in Brooklyn Center and stayed for the duration of the trial of Derek Chauvin)
Although this post seems long, it is only a brief summary of what has been happening in this city for over a year now. Everything is so much deeper and more painful than it seems or than I can even explain. All I can try to articulate is just how much our leadership has failed us and continues to do so. Our police force, instead of growing to be understanding (or afraid of consequence even), has become more hostile and angry. It didn’t stop at George. We need help.
Here are confirmed gofundme links for Deona & Winston’s family:
