#i go to a UC and in just a simple art history major but everyone else around me is like#going into these super competitive and science based careers#this one girl took like 7 classes and got A's in all of them while still maintaining a job#and last quarter i barely passed the 3 classes i took with no job and a ton of free time#like??? im such a loser#i know i shouldnt be comparing but damn!!!#i also have been dealing with severe cycles of depression since highschool but like#i just feel like i should be getting better by now ya know#but i also literally do not have any goals for myself and do not feel compelled to care about my future at all#its so weird living at these crossroads of idealizing success and also giving little to no fucks about my life#anyways#i think im gonna apply to this drive thru place that sells coffee#fast paced environments have always scared me but i wanna change that!#so weird how im almost 20 but it feels like just yesterday i was still 14 in the backseat of my moms camry#im sorry i couldnt live up to ur dreams lil jen#but i promise you i'll try

The Sims 4 - Avatar Legacy Challenge
Water. Earth. Fire. Air.
Did you either smile in nostalgia or roll your eyes at the cliche of using the show’s intro? Are you looking for a legacy challenge that helps you explore different aspects of gameplay, all the while making fun callbacks to The Last Airbender series? Well, hotman, you’re in the right place!
This Avatar Legacy Challenge is a 4-13 generational challenge with themes surrounding characters, events, and locations from the Avatarverse, with enough wiggle room to make it fit your unique gameplay style.
Basic Rules
The purpose of this challenge is to complete the Avatar cycle by playing with 4 generations of the same family, but you may play up to 12 generations + 1 bonus gen with the current outline!
Each heir should represent their element or location by color scheme/style. You can base this on the show or your personal likes/dislikes.
You can live in any Sims world unless otherwise specified in the rules of a generation.
You can have as many children as you’d like unless otherwise specified in the rules of a generation.
Every generation is required to complete both the career and aspiration of the heir unless explicitly stated otherwise.
Every generation is required to max out at least 4 skills to represent the 4 elements in the cycle.

This challenge was partially inspired by the super fun Not So Berry Challenge! I wanted to play a similar challenge after seeing others play, but I knew my ADHD would leave me bored after 2 days of unintentionally recreating a popular streamer’s gameplay of the challenge. I wanted my own adventure and way to explore the game. Hopefully you can enjoy it, too!

A Different Kind of Jam Legacy Challenge for TS3
Honestly I just wanted to make another challenge that involved colors and had a theme but then it changed into something completely different so I thought I share.
The Jam Legacy is a 9 generation legacy challenge based on fruits you can put into jams/jellies and has a specific color palette if you choose to go with it. Each generation is a quirky bunch and meant for some weird gameplay. So if you enjoy weird gameplay, nice fall colors, and maybe 9 generations of fun, this might be your jam.

Spring 2021 Anime Season
Mars Red is one of two series this season set in one of my favorite periods, the Meiji era. It’s a vampire series that deals a lot with the politics of war as the Japanese military is attempting to establish a vampire unit, supposedly to compete with the British vampire unit (because of course that’s a thing). It focuses on a human military officer named Maeda who is charged with recruiting and managing vampires. Maeda is the type of character I really enjoy. Handsome, a little older than most anime protagonists, chain-smoking, overly serious, and voiced by Junichi Suwabe (who has to have the sexiest voice in all of anime). The series has a classic, romantic feel to it. Its take on vampires is somewhat traditional (they evaporate in the sun, drink blood, sleep in coffins, have super strength and speed, etc.). If it brings anything new to the table, it’s the concept of vampires having different ranks, from S-class down, and how lower ranks naturally fear higher ranks. Still yet, the classic vibe works in the show’s favor. Combined with the historical setting, it gives the show a certain charm. The art is lovely, from the backgrounds to the character designs, and the music is a high point. It easily has the best ending theme of the season.
Fumetsu no Anata e (To Your Eternity) is a unique series. I’ve seen a lot of people comparing it to Mushishi, but with an overarching plot, and that assessment is pretty accurate. The show follows an entity that comes to be known as Fushi. It begins as an orb, and as it makes contact with other objects and creatures, it learns from them and can possibly take their forms. Among the forms it most often takes are a white wolf and a young man. Originally, it’s a somewhat empty shell, incapable of communicating, but as it meets different creatures and learns, it develops a personality and begins to speak. The series is, overall, about Fushi’s journey through this world and all the experiences it gains, both wonderful and tragic. There’s a subtle beauty to the series, with an early focus on nature, but it also has scenes of trauma and violence. The animation is fluid and the facial expressions are amazing. There’s an overall natural feel to it that, like others have pointed out, reminds me of Mushishi (though it’s definitely faster paced than Mushishi). The show also likes to make you cry, so keep that in mind.
Joran: The Princess of Snow and Blood is the other series set in the Meiji era this season, albeit an alternate version of it that has a strange form of technology. To be honest, I’m a little fuzzy on some of the details, but it seems to be about a group called the Nue who work for the government to fight against a growing rebellion. The main character is Sawa, a member of Nue who has some sort of special powers involving her blood, which allow her to transform and battle monsters, or whatever else stands in her way. Her goal is to get revenge for the death of her entire clan (implied to be wiped out because of their power). Sawa is a decent heroine, a woman who craves vengeance and is determined to get it through any means, but is, at her core, a compassionate person who would rather live in peace. It’s this internal conflict that makes Sawa compelling (even if it’s not entirely original). The other characters are interesting, particularly Tsuki, whom I won’t talk much about because it would involve spoilers. The plot and details can get a little convoluted, but the action and animation are solid. When Sawa transforms, the art style changes, and it’s a really cool visual effect. The music is also nice.
Shaman King received a remake this season. I was a huge fan of the original, and so far I’m enjoying the remake, but to be honest, I’m having trouble seeing the point. The art is almost the same (just a lot shinier), the voice actors are the same, the plot is the same. Maybe it’s just that it’s been so long since I saw the original, I’m unable to remember the details and so I can’t tell what’s different. But to me it feels like I’m just rewatching the show. Which is fine, because I loved it to begin with. Maybe it gets different later on. Maybe it more closely follows the manga. I’ll keep watching to find out. For anyone new to the series, it looks like the remake is a solid place to start if you want to get into it. I won’t go into plot details for a story this old, so I’ll just say it’s a top tier shounen fighting series with a unique art style and some very memorable characters. If you like that sort of thing, and missed the original (or you just want a refresher), definitely check it out!
Godzilla Singular Point is a true delight. I’m a huge Godzilla (and kaiju in general) fan. I’ve watched every single Godzilla movie, as well as all the related movies (the Mothra films, Rodan, etc.), but I never watched the previous Godzilla anime that was on Netflix a few years ago. It just didn’t sound like something I’d like. Singular Point, however, is right up my alley. Set mainly in a small seaside town that’s suddenly attacked by bird-like monsters known as Rodans, we have two geeky protagonists using their intelligence to figure out what’s going on while more and more monsters appear. Mei and Yun are excellent heroes. They rely on their wits rather than physical strength, which is a refreshing approach. It’s also interesting that they have little to no face-to-face interaction. Instead, they chat with each other via text as they work separately. They often challenge each other with science questions. It’s adorable. The show’s overall feel is fairly upbeat and energetic. The colorful art and peppy character designs by Kazue Kato (who did Blue Exorcist) help with this feel. It should be noted that Godzilla himself doesn’t fully appear until halfway through the series. It says a lot about the quality of the show that I don’t actually mind that at all. Some of the science stuff does go over my head, but the general plot is easy enough to follow and the action is very well done. It also has fantastic music, with my favorite opening theme of the season. Even if Godzilla isn’t your thing, consider giving this series a shot if you like nerdy science types as heroes.
Burning Kabaddi is a sports anime about an unsual sport. I’d never heard of it before now, and if people in the comments were not talking about the very real sport, I would have assumed it was made up for the anime. The show is aware that the sport is obscure, so it takes great pains to explain the rules and details so that we can all follow the action. The story centers on Yoigoshi, a soccer prodigy who decides to drop all sports once he gets to high school due to all the drama and angst that surrounded him (mostly due to his teammates being jealous of his talent), and pursue a career as a streamer. All the various sports clubs at the school want to recruit him (especially the soccer club, of course) because they’ve heard of his skill and he has an athletic build. He rejects them all, but the Kabaddi club is strangely relentless. He ends up being manipulated into joining (the vice captain of the team straight up blackmails him by threatening to show his online streaming account to the whole school). Despite this rocky beginning, Yoigoshi actually starts to enjoy playing Kabaddi, and more importantly, begins to bond with his new teammates. It’s pretty fun stuff that doesn’t take itself too seriously. The art is serviceable for a sports anime and the music is fine. The series isn’t going to blow your mind, but it’s a fun way to spend twenty minutes every week. Worth a watch if you have a weakness for hot blooded sports anime.
The World Ends With You finally got its anime adaptation and I was so excited. The game is one of my all-time favorites. So far the anime is pretty good. The art is a near perfect replication of the bold, thick-lined art of the game. The battles are exciting and cool. Best of all, the anime often uses music from the game. This is important because the game has one of the best soundtracks, ever. Every time I recognize a song from the game, I almost squeal. If I had a complaint, it’s that the pacing feels a little off at times. It feels like the anime is rushing through the story, but that’s understandable. In the game, it took longer for everything to happen because you were walking from place to place, fighting battles along the way, stopping to scan NPC’s, shopping at stores, spending time in menus, etc. The anime has to cut most of that out, so naturally things are going to move faster. The result is that you don’t get to spend as much time with these characters, and so you feel less attached to them. Anyone watching the anime who didn’t play the game might feel like the emotional beats are lacking. I feel like this anime is definitely meant to be enjoyed by fans of the game, rather than newcomers to the story. But if you are a fan of the game? You should be watching this every week. It’s an excellent refresher on the story, just in time for the second game to come out this summer. Super high on my watch list.
Boku no Hero Academia has a new season. To be honest I don’t remember what number we’re on. This season, so far, focuses on a tournament-style competition between the two main hero classes. I would much prefer the plot to move on to something more exciting involving the villains, but I suppose they have to throw arcs like this in every so often just to remind everyone of which characters have which quirks. The plus point is that instead of being an individual competition, it’s team-based. What this ultimately means is that characters that are viewed as weaker or having more obscure quirks actually get a chance to shine. These are characters who definitely aren’t going to win one-on-one battles. In an individual tournament, it’s pretty much a given that characters like Deku, Bakugou, and Todoroki are going to win most of the matches. But in a team, everyone has to work together. The end result is that the lady characters, all of whom have fairly weak or situational quirks, finally FINALLY get to actually do stuff! Even better, in several of the match-ups, the girls have taken the lead in planning and strategizing. It’s been pretty nice to watch. The girls from the other class have been very proactive as well. I really wish the girls could do more in “real” battles with villains, since it’s clear that they can step up when they need to. Who knows? Maybe this is a sign of good things to come.
86 is a new mecha/sci-fi anime based on a series of light novels. The setup is fairly cool: In a country where everyone has silver hair and eyes, the people live in what looks like a utopia. There is a war going on outside their protected land but all combat is performed by automated robots, so there are no human casualties... or so the government would have the people believe. In reality, there is a district that exists on the outskirts of the country called 86, where people who don’t have silver hair and eyes are sent to pilot the robots and fight to protect the country that shunned them. Most of the pilots are children or teenagers. The mortality rate is high. Only a few people in the government know of their existence, mostly military types that include “handlers”. These handlers each take on an 86 unit and communicate with them through a system called “para-raid”. Using this, they monitor the battlefield from their safe positions and issue commands. Naturally, most handlers view their units as nothing more than tools in the war, and most 86-ers view their handlers as privileged snobs who know nothing of actual battle. The real plot kicks in when Lena, a young Major, becomes the new handler for a particular 86 unit. Lena is sympathetic to the people of 86, but it’s going to be hard getting her notoriously rough unit to accept her. The plot is a bit complicated and the show deals with some weighty themes (racism, privilege, war, child soldiers, death). Lena is a likable enough heroine and the members of 86 are all interesting and fairly well written. The music is fine. The art... well, it’s pretty to look at, but it feels a bit generic to me. A bit too shiny. The mecha designs are great, but I’m not crazy about the character designs, which feel like they could be from any other modern anime. I also find it sad but hilarious at the same time that the women’s military uniforms are clearly designed for fanservice (they include mini skirts, thigh-highs with garters, and a short jacket that opens up just above the chest to show the tight shirt underneath) while the men’s uniforms are just totally normal military wear. To be honest it’s just too stupid to actually be offensive, so it comes across as comical. Thankfully, the interesting setup and plot carry the show, making it good enough to overlook the generic visuals.
Moriarty the Patriot has a new season... maybe? I think it’s technically still season one, but with a split cour. Regardless, it feels like a new season so I’m treating it as such. The series focuses on famous Sherlock antagonist Moriarty, here represented as a trio of handsome brothers (though one of them is clearly the protagonist and the leader of the group) who work as “crime consultants” and basically help the lower classes wage class warfare against the nobility. This season shifts the focus away from the individual crimes Moriarty concocts and instead focuses on larger-scale conflicts that involve government conspiracies, corrupt cops, etc. We’re also treated to a lady James Bond (finally!), fixing one of the very few complaints I had about the first cour (that it lacked strong lady characters). The show remains very compelling, with beautiful art and excellent new opening and ending themes.

Okay, time for my weekly rant so buckle up. The vocal stages were okay-I cant really remember them well because I watched them only once so take what I say with a grain of salt. Well I watched the Spark one once and I only got through half of the other one because I can’t stand ballads especially when there’s no interesting movement on stage to keep me engaged. Like it’s no fault of the members themselves or the song (I actually think their singing was incredibly beautiful and Eunkwang always sings like his wife just left him with the kids which is how you know he’s good) but I physically could not pay attention. That’s why I liked the spark stage a bit better-there was enough movement that I was able to focus on it. I really liked the use of the fire and the way they were walking in and out of the frame trading off parts so there weren’t too many awkward moments where the other members where on stage but not doing anything. The opening was gorgeous with each members being lit by the spotlight as they harmonize. So stagewise, I prefer Spark but vocally I think the other group was stronger. I love Spark and Taeyon is such an incredible vocalist (I mean the song is great because of her) so I don’t get why their delivery was, I don’t want to say weak, but subdued might be a better word. The only one that really stood out was Junhoe (but also that man couldn’t not stand out even if he tried, not with that incredibly rasp) and even he seemed to be holding himself back a bit. Though it was a bit slow it built up well to the two last choruses but still the first half could have been stronger. I know they were trying to draw it out to a strong pay off but I don’t really know if it was enough. And yes the suits were *chef’s kiss*. I think at this point in their career the FNC stylist has put SF9 in so many suits they’ve got it down to a science. Also I’m a sucker for those shirts with the triangle cut out and we got not one but two of them here.
Okay moving on, I’m not sure which group was next but I’ll talk about the Ikon stage. It seems like they finally realized that they’re on a performance based competition show so they decided to pull out the big guns. Love the little skit at the beginning (making sure people don’t forget that they’re YG), it was cute and refreshing. I really appreciated how they leaned into the campy acting in this stage (Stray kids did it too-just adding to the similarities between their stages). The song was meh but I also don’t really like BP especially not their recent stuff so it’s not a big deal. I would have preferred if they had gone with another song maybe Whistle or As If It’s Your Last or if they’d done a 2NE1 song like Chanwoo mentioned some point in the episode. I also think the stage would have been way smoother if they’d let Ikon and Lisa interact. Like if the boys appeared in her set after her section and then they all moved back to the first jungle set and then the whole thing turns gold and they did a dramatic outfit change (but with better jackets because theirs look like they came out of Party City). I also get what you mean about the dancers outfits not being that great. I actually really liked the outfits of Lisa’s dancers in isolation but they didn’t match with her or the set so they threw me off a bit. At least with the ikon members they were going for a modern look so the dancers outfits didn’t look that strange in comparison. Do you think it would have been better if they were white? How would you have improved then? The best way I can describe this performance was that it was a stage, stuff happened, I enjoyed myself but I don’t plan to revisit it anytime soon. Oh and we also have to give points for them cursing on national television not once but twice (at this point Jinwan deserves to say fuck).
Now to Stray Kids. So I feel like I need to preface this with the fact that I am actually a stray kids fan (I won’t call myself a stay because I don’t associate with the fandom) and though I’ve been really critical of them and their stages tend to be my least favorite I still have a soft spot for them (I got into this show because of them after all). I loved, loved, loved the intro with Felix (and yes his biggest flaw is that he’s Australian but I forgive him for it) and the way it immediately transitions into the chorus of DDD-the abrupt transition does fit really well with the Deadpool theme and I guess it is the closest they’re going to get to the feeling of yeeting themselves into traffic like in the movie. Interesting choice to start with the chorus. Now that I’m rewatching it I do really wish they stuck with the comic theme. I think that’s my gripe with SKZ-they have a lot of good ideas but they move on too quickly from them. Just pick a handful of things and sprinkle them throughout instead of cycling through them at breakneck speed. Like okay they’re doing Deadpool and he’s a comic character so keep the comic styling (it would have been a good thing to put in the projection behind Seungmin’s scene), maybe in the subway they could have had some fight choreo so the guns coming in at Lee Knows part aren’t out of nowhere (also someone please tell me they were trying to recreate the meme with the cat and the knives, please I need to know). I absolutely agree that them having a goal or an antagonist would have really helped the story along. I mean they literally have a spoken intro so why couldn’t Felix just tell us who they were fighting (and I’m pretty sure in the movie Wade tells us he’s trying to kill Francis in that scene sooo). As always they put more focus on the rappers (please can we get less Changbin and more Seungmin, Jeongin, or Lee Know or at least give Felix more parts). Seungmin was the real mvp of this stage and he had the best outfit (I think it qualifies for Hanya’s best gay little outfit list). Personally I with they hadn’t gone with Gods Menu again. I���ve been hoping that they would perform My Pace (and maybe remix it with their B-side TA off their Go Live album) because that would be such a fun stage. Again, I enjoyed myself but I won’t revisit it anytime soon. At this point the only groups I actually look forward to are BTOB and SF9 (they’re doing fucking Move and I don’t know whether to be excited or terrified-there’s a clip of Taeyang covering Move from a variety show or interview and I think he does it really well so I know at least one of them can pull it off). Again thanks for creating space where I can info dump and I hope I said something of interest to you!

i get that the mayfly stage would be not as visually stimulating for people and usually i would count myself in with that crowd because i love a good spectacle but i think because i watched the spark stage first and my colour perception is sometimes weird so when there's a lot of movement with very little colour variation my tiny pea brain loses track of whats happening really quickly. especially with red. so it was kind of difficult for me to pay attention to the spark stage in the second half. also i absolutely HATE watching people flub on stage because it brings up such visceral secondhand feelings that i couldn't even watch the stage when i started the full episode today.
i love a good suit but you know what i would also love: sf9 in more costume variations. tbh im just getting nitpicky about it because im a costume designer down to the core and i got trained by a designer who specialized in doing avant garde costuming so i tend to skew more towards wild than reserved. it looks like the move stage wont be be suits so ill take it, but oh man to do i want to see some really crazy stuff. which i know they'll never do because idols have to be pretty at all times or the fans get mad but oh i want it so badly.
do you mean how i would improve ikon's backup dancers outfits or lisa's? here why dont i do both. for lisa's dancers i would have just done away with that harness shape all together, its almost exclusively a military style. the jackets by themselves would have been fine but really what they should have done was put them in something that matched the gold but contrasted enough to give them shape. by having at least her dancers in all black on a gold stage there was a lot of "haha look at me do a duck walk because lets throw in some voguing for spice." they could have gone with a mesh bodysuit idea similar to what she was wearing or even just different colour coats. as for ikon's backup dancers, firstly pants. not black. or even a longer skirt. genuinely a part of the reason why i dont watch girl group content is because i HATE the hem length of the shorts they make everyone wear. words cannot describe how much i hate that cut. kpop is so obsessed with showing off women's bodies and especially their legs but they do it in the LEAST flattering way possible because it "can't be too risqué," just shoot me now. i hate it. i hate it so fucking much. yea yea everybody was on cocaine in the 80s whatever but at least they were all wearing french cut bodysuits so their legs looked fantastic. stop interrupting the lines!! anyways. pants so the only section of skin showing is thigh to mid calf, especially because they weren't even doing any fun legwork! if they really wanted to keep the full sleeve bodysuits they shout have done them in a fabric with a texture or external embellishments, like a patent/vinyl or sequins/rhinestones. something to catch the stage lights so we can actually see the shape of the limb. but the easiest way to fix it is literally just cut the arms off the bodysuits. stages are lit to show off skin, sometimes the best way to have something be seen is just to have it bare.
i agreed skz cycles through ideas way too fast, they need to just pick a couple and stick them out through the stage instead of just adding more and more different ones throughout. also ok good someone else noticed that there is just...so much changbin. we don't need that much changbin. i know there's other boys in the group let them do something! also im pretty sure theyre not recreating the cat knife meme but actually the promo image from john wick chapter two, which i also could have sworn i saw a deadpool version of as an instagram ad back when movies were happening, but now that im looking for it it doesn't exist so i might be crazy.
im excited for the move stage but im also trepidatious because...its move. i have NO clue what the concept is from the previews so i just hope its weird enough to take it enough out of the taemin context for me to enjoy it.

an update and primer:
so the last winter was weird. I had a complete breakdown, went into psychiatric hospital for 40 days in total. two seperate times.
learnt a heap of new things, met a tonne of cool people and had amazing conversations and few fights but overcome my own demons by that.
brain speaking-I have a scarred brain stem and neurological disorder is not a mental diagnosis, but a neurological disorder, proven by MRI scan, ADHD.
also damage to my basal ganglia, and prefrontal cortex.
neurological diagnosis means ADHD is not a "mental" health issue, as some believe, rather a neurodevelopment disorder caused by structural differences in the ADHD brain.
other neurodevelopment disorders include: Tourettes, Autism, Cerebal Palsy, Dyslexia and other Motor and Intellectual Disabilities. (Which recieve, in my view, a lot of insight, media information and stigma reduction by the advocacy networks surrounding these types of disability).
Over the last few years Autism has been over everything, I've seen mainstream media cover Tourettes and yet ADHD is still HUGELY misunderstood, misconceived and misrepresented in media, be in from the angle of documentaries, personal insight of a "typical" case, films, tv, and other media.
one of the first things my dr told me was "in females it rarely presents as hyperactive red-cordial OD child"
which is what my mother BELIEVES, that is because I have an adopted cousin with the ADHD dx who was that growing up, but the representation I'm told is also divergent for women with a higher IQ score than the average IQ. I come in around 142 and tested 123 at age 3 when I was unable to focus, pay attention and had severe trauma. I tested 142 in grade 8.
I'll share my experience as a female who is intellectually gifted, with higher IQ than average, and an adhd brain:
I've been told gifted and talented "genius" children are harder to diagnose because the symptoms present differently, we hide it better (camouflage) and our focusing can be "faked" by mediocre efforts of academic success.. this is true, I would do the assignment the Sunday night hours deadline, last minute, or have my parents half do it for me, plagiarise it (fuck I've killed my whole academic career now) copied but changed my words
from old 1970s encyclopaedias I KNEW they couldn't cross reference (I went through 15 years of school never studying doing homework or assignments and still had top grades).
I literally did not listen, and spent my classes planning the end of the world survival strategies with my GT friend who, basically helped me with my calculus and hard fucking maths, which was the ONLY 50 minutes of the day I put attention into my work.
now I'm going to be heading back to full-time study in the coming months, I get anxious as the pressure of a Bachelor level degree, and the pressure it takes me to perform, is enough to break me down. I've been advised it might be wise to start light (like a basic vet style diploma) and then build up, which is logical, but I keep thinking I'm meant to be doing my thesis by now. which is the kind of pressure one gets as a kid who is told repeatedly, "your intelligence is exceedingly the average and you can do ANYTHING you want"
I wanted to be an astronaut, a storm chaser, and an architect, a town planner and then a journalist. I always held to being a "FBI agent" or spy (I wonder why). so when I found psychology is really a blend of all these things, I kinda found a niche in a psych and social science double degree. but I'm thinking my academic career is LIFELONG, and due to the fact I also want to work in my field alongside my many written thesis coming, I'll be in academics for a long time. I may fail a few things, which I have to come to terms with. I do not fail easily, or readily, but I'm a perfectionist type-a academic who will put my whole life on the line to achieve "merit". I get exams, I get assessments, I read journals super-easy, I talk the talk and walk the walk so well psychologists who are at masters level compliment me on my "knowledge".
when it comes to mental health and trauma, I will always have the personal attachment, called lived experience, which will make failure and burnout, 100 percent realistic. I have to boundary up, bootstraps on, and prepare that yes, my personal "bias" will probably be entwined in this.
which is why I'm looking at the social science for the statistics and thesis writing side of things, and the counselling for the trained therapist side. either way, the degree of counselling requires so much self-insight, and then the social-science will back me away from personifying it. the other choice is criminology, which leads to forensic psychology, which is eternally fascinating. my main concern is the pro-pedophile content Ill be up against, which will look at the anatomy of a shoplifter akin to the devil, and leave the pedophile in the DSM-5 dx "paraphilia" box.
I'm not joining or jumping to anything.
either way I've got 2 year of credit, a heap of pathways and a lot of "academic momentum" from all my life being aimed to be "academic powerhouse". I went through my files and found a lot of awards I'd won in my high school, and top place in the competitions we would be entering in. I remember feeling so sad if I had a "credit" vs a distinction or high distinction, only to see now, a credit in university maths in year 9 is a skillset I don't have anymore so, good on me. or a credit in English, or Science at that age was pretty impressive, considering these tests were random and not studied for.
just a general skills assessment only the top 30 kids in the year were to take on a year by year basis and put out to vet from the top universities and taken by other kids in the same grade around the state.
it puts so much focus on my intelligence, because it's primed to be that way, I know that is true. I know I feel good being academically successful and it gives me a feeling of "achievement" but is it really for me?
I also found 2 letters from my local politicians offering me job placement, work experience and I was 1/4 kids in my 10th grade graduation tom get the letter, and due to my behaviour I pissed ALL the idiots who bullied me off. I was "too pretty to be a nerd" "too smart to be pOpUlAr".
so I made a group of misfits, who are all highly intelligent, creative and my group had the ONLY gay male in the school AND THIS IS BEFORE YOU FUCKING RETARDS MADE IT "COOL". he was bullied badly, so fuck you, you fucks claim "liberalism" but I bet you were the type of idiot who bullied guys like him in high school while you pretended to like my chemical romance and fake cut yourselves. I hate you all, forever.
my grade was full of idiots who were fake emo, who left the scene the moment the scene changed to dub-step and club music. I was there, watching you all, like sonny Moore, went from FFTL to that dubstep skrillex shit he started in 2009.
I dated you, hooked up with you and I went to your gigs. I know who was real and who was fake. I met some of you years later and realised the more emotive ones were the less "alternative appearing".
I can say 1/10000 emo guys from the 00s were genuinely Into the music and scene for the right reasons based on my dating history and this can and will be analysed statistically using SPSS one day to prove a lot. I've had too many relationships from each sub-culture and I have had 4-11 males at a time per public "output" of my energy pursue me over life.
I'm not being cocky when I say I have a long line of "suitors" and its banked back about 50 men. it's been a thing I've avoided as it seems to grow based on my body shape, attitude, appearance, so I am currently out of touch with dating scenes, no interest to try that ANYWAY, given the fact that I have had so many LONG TERM relationships ANYWAY. I can't see another one going well, and at this case, I'm living with an ex but we never went on conventional and now our families label this 3 things: "asexual", "polyamorous" and "open relationship". I'm also "bisexual" but this all to humans outside, looks ridiculous on paper. (wild orgies and lots of swinging or some stupid sex magick probably is what J brother literally thinks we do).
bc humans are intrinsically designed to need to label things they don't understand. we share a lease, not a relationship, and fucking polyamorous, I WISH. there are no girl-girl-guy 3 some, or orgies, or sex magic parties.
this has changed the attitude and perception of this "relation' which Is non-romantic, non-sexual. he can date and likely, will, as can I , and I likely won't date.
I would say 14/15 have had ADHD, or other mental illness and or trauma. which means to me, nothing at all.
I think this "open book" non romantic relationship style of "friends and roommates" not sexual.
attachment is misunderstood by others but works well fro my adhd, meaning I'm not expected to marry, or be a wife in any capacity. he is free to do what he wants, as I am, and open communication is a novel frontier I brought into this in the start, and stayed with for the duration. we fight, but I fight with a lot of people in my life over many petty things. also down to my adhd, I believe, I have rejection sensitive dysphoria, which makes me hypersensitive to rejection, perceived or real.
im not sure if this is trauma or adhd or both. but
I have used sexuality as a weapon in many relationships but it cannot or will not be used here, so I have had to resort to uncovering parts of myself which I never knew, which will stay with me even if he decided to marry and wife up in 5 years, which I'm okay and expecting him to do, and I would much rather that then be trapped in a situation where I cannot be that "wife/mother archetype" as I'm too "femme fatal/other-woman/sex-laced seductress and siren" a "FWB, unicorn, drug buddy, hook-up where im a therapist" or "intellectual and cognitive mind-bender work-study obsessed woman".
both at once and many types of human, including one who is a full-time ceremonial magician of 7 years. I will drink, drug, fuck, fight like males and still be more feminine and high maintenance than 89% of women. I grew up a tomboy and don't mind getting into fun, adventure based situations, like hiking, or anything adrenaline, I would only be reluctant to eat weird shit.
I also have many "neurological" issues including ADHD, and trauma which causes a rupture in the average human and I dating.
I'll tell you how many men have said "you are the unicorn" and then realised what that means, I went as far as canvasing the PUA world back in 2014 after reading the game, a book on PUA, which is essentially, pick up artistry, based on NLP and hypnosis. I did this after reading the copy my ex in 2008 handed me before we dated saying "I gave this up for you". it took me years to open the book, buy when I did I truly believed the only way I would fall in love again, was through PUA. that failed in so many ways but gave me a training foundation for men who were candidates for that, I have trained up J, and the way that sounds is BAD. I know, but I got a lot of value myself, I just don't see it how I wanted to see it.
but that was my original intent, and I achieved this he knows that, knew it was happening and evolved for the best self.
I am thinking we can modulate this into a business model for how I was operating in the BDSM world was mainly psychological, not physical.
I get told all of is incredibly intimidating (I am told) to women and men.
I don't really care anymore, because people have always seen this part of me in the wrong way ANYWAY, but I own who I am NOW. which is what I needed ANYWAY. so it cannot be stolen again, and sexual healing has come from abstinence ironically.
I also don't care what or who is trying to tear up my relations, toxic or not toxic, all people around me will be on a healing journey by default, or cut out of my life, for I am radiating that energy so brightly its impossible NOT to feel that pull.
I will drag your shadows into the light, and make your secrets spin from your lips into my consciousness. its not what I do but its what is design.
I make your weaknesses mountains to climb over. you cannot hide from these in my presence, I won't be this controlling or obsessive female who wants 24-7 attention as I have a life full of meaning without love or sex. I don't want to be wined, dined or expensively gifted, unless specially requested.
I don't want love letters or romantic declarations, this isn't some femnazi bullshit, but it triggers me. I appreciate the efforts and won't make you feel bad about your insecurities, for mine are probably 30 x more pronounced.
I appreciate small things, that most males won't or don't know how to do. like remembering things I've said and being thoughtful. or knowing my silence isn't personal, or a game, but a protective wall. I've had songs sung too me, guitars played, songs written, or things made in ways that are heartfelt. but I've always had them used against me too. so it is the context. I value time, energy, conversations of depth and reciprocal exchange. I also value trauma understanding, my alters and fragments being accepted and valued as me as a whole and a person who is not afraid, or scared of stupid stuff like sensitivity, emotions, feelings as raw as my own. men feel intensely too, lol.
but will only give oral sex 100 times before I don't recieve it, I can communicate now so that wouldn't happen.
but I won't be a bitch about this stuff. I am extremely feminine and care in ways other people, do not, I forget nothing people tell me, so it can be a reward or reverse uno card pull in a fight, but I am not evil or deviant in my relations. I react, depending on how you treat me. I don't need your money, or providing source of income to be okay as I am my own queen, however sharing resources is okay to build something. I don't need to be seduced, but will need to be shown a person is trustworthy.

that will always be time-endurance and testing. there are ground rules I don't play with, or play games. or like being forced or forged into something I'm not. I know abusive and I know safe, and I am a psychology expert, trained psychotherapist and study humans for fun, so I'll always be analysing things.

I'll probably accidentally give you therapy, but thats fine, because you will uncover your depths and find meaning in this. it's not something that goes bad unless you are fundamentally, evil, even the most abusive relationship I was in, was benefited from this process. yes he's still narcissistic, but he is self-aware. and did I benefit, never, just know the anatomy of self-proclaimed narc and I still can't hate him. will get my civil claim one day.
I will fuck your mind without meaning too. but thats because I fuck my own mind. but the meaning is made in the man- some find this highly offensive or personal (its not). I call out bad behaviour and make people uncomfortable if they are repressed. I will change you without even meaning too, I don't even need to date you. its just my presence, over time, amplified by the intensity of the dynamics.
I don't want simplicity, but I also don't need over complexity.
I value passion, independence, creativity, curiosity, problem-solving, deep-disscussions, shared adventures and some occasional risk-taking (lol), sensuality and sexuality for a common cause beyond physical pleasure. I like being taught but not micromanaged. I need my own independence, and need to be trusted with that. I hate being scolded for that like a child, or being pushed to change my ways to conform to societal values. which I will push back and refuse to do. which is not healthy. I don't adult like many others do, but I try to proceed in other ways. and learn to adult like normal people, accept me.
I also value myself, and how I can be celebrated, enhanced and improved vs. the opposite.
I give space, and have boundaries, and understand human psychology, sexuality and relationships in ways few others unless they are trained, can do.
I value MY time. so you can have space to value YOURS. I dont need to be in anyones pocket for a long time. I love being alone, and being around people who are stimulating, but draining people will be drained out of my life quicker than I intend. I am sorry for the people who felt I disappeared, when I was only trying to be 'fair', if I feel I'm a bad influence, I will work on myself until I'm not. I'm still working on it.
I also use this psychology awareness, to enhance communication, connection. you may or may not become an accidental guinea pig. I will be upfront that I am experimental, but that is part of the buy ticket and take the ride. lets work together. not apart.
I am coming from a place of love, and love is what I feel for my animals, which you will be adopting as children.which I want to stop experiments being done on. I love love, in all ways, but hate cruelty of animals and children, violence and suffering. I dont advocate justice, because I find life is fucking cruel, unfair and unjust. by default, so I focus on myself. what can be changed, and what I am able to do in my own locus on control. I will always find myself drawn to the outsiders, the misfits, the vagabonds, the misunderstood. I want to help people who are society, or socially, disadvantaged by trauma and mental illness, but only when I have ability to help myself.

I will not date anyone who is cruel to animals, outside of specify magical sacrifice, there is not any place for that. nor will I date or fraternise with anything or anyone linked or associated with pedophilia. I won't judge anyone on anything that are outside animal cruelty and pedophilia. I don't and haven't. I keep on good terms with every ex, bar 1 whom I only apologised too this year. it felt good to do that. I change my behaviour.
I am open, but also highly attuned to both logical, factual, empirical , scientific worlds, and spiritual, intuitive, psychic and the "collective unconscious". I walk in both these realms, and I am "conventionally attractive". which puts a lot of pressure on me, to be "stupid". I am always dumbing myself down to fit into normality, but I look ridiculous if I do that so I peacock my intellect.

that sucks for the people who want to be living vicariously through me, for making up to lost trauma years, for family who sold me out for the success I'd bring home, or fake trauma enmeshed friends, or whatever they want or need from me. I value my time and energy, and have given that in abundance, and if you want to be with nut only "one part of me that is alters". I can't provide that now. not sorry.
I have to work on something or not be in a dynamic at all.
I no longer can switch on demand to adapt for you, it will not be effective and that upsets a lot of people. especially now I'm sober. harder to handle this, as I see the world for its ways and why it is, more vividly. I haven't had alcohol for almost 2 months, although, I could drink, I haven't.
I can't do it, anymore. it, being, faking, my selves fronting to impress. I can't. I have no more left to give, and I'm expected by everyone to be a way I can't do it in the way they want.
I will go to another year long outpatient DBT, followed by 10 weeks of A-C-T therapy, and however many ECT OR TMS may or may not help. I'm told it won't (ect) work. but TMS, is something I am open too. but I am telling you, none of this psychotherapy, that will be based on dbt skills, day therapy, intensive skills training, recommencing my studying, and resuming "life worth living" will or can wipe the traumas I've "recovered" memories for.
I will also shut the fuck up, and tell nobody about this if you leave me alone, I told that to my family, and this is open letter to the watchers, stalkers and perps who read this openly as I track the hits on here and have 200+ visits a day every day for the last month. globally. no idea how or who you are but I think its the same people who called the police for the "ayreon song lyrics" seen to be a suicide not last October.
thanks for that wake up call, I have shut the fuck up, since December, more so now. I will burn the journals, or lock them up.
my recovery is not linear, not yet fully integrated and I trust nobody so I don't think my psychotherapy will be deep, I focus on things like ADHD AND my EDNOS. and dbt skills. I won't be talking about sexual traumas.

Hey Pia hope you’re doing well
I was wondering, is the thing where Arden picks up a bunch of random hobbies and commitments a part of his ADHD or does it have like a name?
I’m a highschool student and I get told by all my friends and teachers that I have overcommitment issues and part of it’s just for uni and whatever ofc but it’s also that I want to do ALL THESE THINGS
Like I’m in 4 different science competition teams, the school debating team, school orchestra, scholarship classes, editor of my school newsletter, I lead the school amnesty and unicef clubs plus the IB program and being in the national maths Olympiad team lol and I don’t want to let any of these go but it’s so stressful and I’m so tired and ppl say I have to say no to stuff which is also stressful!
Also, doing more is always portrayed as such a great thing and I feel rlly guilty letting stuff go? So I’m just reaching out because you portrayed it in such a refreshing way and I was really curious!
Firstly, massive respect for your ability to fit this ask into the Tumblr ask limits. Seriously :D
Okay secondly, Arden’s habit of picking up a bunch of random hobbies / commitments is part of his ADHD. People with ADHD have this to different degrees, and my beta in particular relates really hard to this habit of Arden’s.
But actually, one of the reasons I put this in is because this is a very bad habit of mine - which is overcommitting, and overworking. And not wanting to let anything go.
People teach you a lot of skills in your life on how to pick things up, but almost no one teaches you what to do when you have many hobbies you love, and they’re hurting you because you’re working too hard and don’t have time for your loved ones (or to even really have loved ones) as an example. And it absolutely is a crucial skill to learn for people who are dealing with this, though capitalists don’t want you to learn it.
In the media what I see is most folks having no hobbies and someone being ‘oh you have to learn some.’ I liked Arden as a contrast to that ‘no, that’s too many things, put some back.’ Where Arden’s ADHD manifests - though it’s much more controlled than it used to be - is that he desires to spend a lot of money on the thing as soon as he gets into it (because he only wants the best of the best - which wasn’t great when he wasn’t earning much money), and that he starts really hooking into it in an obsessive kind of way. Spending a night making bows for your dog is one thing. Then wanting to spend $500 and start an Etsy store small business is like...from one day of work, not great.
A lot of Arden’s life has involved choosing to let go of things he’s loved doing, for his own sanity. This is something I’ve had to do as well and I fucking hate it, and these are the techniques I’ve developed for myself (and my still frankly overcommitted ass, who has people saying ‘when are you going to do LESS’ all the time to my face).
* Remind yourself that dropping some things now doesn’t mean you’re dropping them forever. It doesn’t have to be permanent. Sometimes it’s good to put a time limit on something. ‘I’m going to drop this for four weeks / four months and put a note/reminder in my phone about it right now.’ Chances are high you are not going to be as interested in that thing in four weeks/four months. (Chances are sadly also high you may have replaced it with something else). Like, there will be science groups you can join for the rest of your life. And debate groups. And newsletters.
(That being said, none of those things count towards our grades in Australia? So I don’t know how much these things are counting towards your grades in general and I’m not going to like, touch that side of things - however overcommitment is a super fast way to do a lot of things not that well, or to suddenly get so sick you can’t do any of the things and then feel terrible while you’re sick, more on that later!).
* Time caps on certain hobbies and activities and commitments. This is to actually shoot my habit of hyperfocusing in the foot. I don’t have time to play piano for four hours, but I’m allowed to play it for ten minutes a day (sometimes more but not often). And ten minutes a day adds up over time. I literally sit down and put the timer on my phone. If say there’s something that meets up twice a week but some people only go once, be one of those people!
* Rate the things based on how they contribute to your a) career and b) quality of life and c) happiness. Anything that rates lower on the list compared to the others (that isn’t like, literal money-making work or literal classes) needs to be dropped.
* Dropping things is just actually one of the hardest parts and there’s no real trick to making this easier. I just remind myself: ‘Just because I can do this thing, and do this thing well, doesn’t mean it’s good or healthy for me to do this thing. I need to spend time with people I care about, and I need rest, and those things matter more even if they feel less like ‘accomplishments.’ I want to care for myself through my hobbies, not punish myself.’ That goes some way in keeping perspective, but look, ngl, it sucks to drop commitments if you have an accomplishment/achievement/job satisfaction addiction. It just sucks.
* Accept that you are going to feel guilty, and that guilt is just an emotion, and it doesn’t mean you’ve done something bad. Look sometimes guilt gets it wrong! Sometimes you feel crushingly guilty just for breaking a bad habit, it’s not useful, you just have to kind of be like ‘huh I’m feeling a lot of guilt for trying to look after myself, that’s really interesting, I guess I can understand that but I’m also going to try and praise myself for doing a great job. Just because this isn’t an obvious kind of achievement, I know I achieved something really big and difficult today.’
* Oh yeah, use achievement and ‘job’ type language for doing things that involve successfully taking care of yourself and your energy levels. Just...sometimes you have to ‘if you can’t beat them join them’ - chances are you’ve never been as kind to yourself or proud of yourself for resting and taking it easy and seeing friends, than you are for taking on too many commitments. So...challenge yourself to be kind to yourself and proud of yourself for resting and taking it easy and seeing friends and committing to less. Trust me, you are never going to forget how to overcommit, and you are never going to become lazy or lax because you dropped a few of the (billion) things that you’re committed to. You can afford to praise yourself for this! And generously!
* Seriously, seriously consider seeing doctors or psychologists about this. Despite a TON of PTSD, I actually see my therapist most for working too hard and overcommitting. We spend a lot of time talking about why I might not be the worst person in the world for taking a break. Take it seriously. Your list alone made me feel like I was about to have a panic attack, lmao, your friends and teachers are right, you have overcomittment issues.
* Workaholicism and work addiction is real. There is a growing amount of information about how to deal with it and it’s worth googling.

Er anyway that’s what I do. It doesn’t always work. I have a lot of rules in place and I abandon half of them about halfway through the year and then s u f f e r. And have been doing that for over 25 years and I’m going to say bluntly now - it’s why I’m as sick as I am, and some of that sickness is irreversible. If nothing else, if you want to stay as active as you are now, I do not recommend that anyone push themselves so hard that they can no longer even do things that they enjoy on a regular basis, because they’re too physically debilitated to manage it, because they pushed their bodies too hard during the university years and just after. Because that is 100% why I became so sick in the first place.
And even extremely healthy people who have no history of chronic illness often develop something, in conjunction with years and years of working too hard or overcommitting. I’ve seen it happen to far too many of my friends, and you might feel like ‘just another six months’ or ‘just another three years’ but you’d be surprised how quickly you can go from ‘I’m doing it I’m doing it’ to ‘I keep getting migraines all the time doctor how do I fix this so I can go back to working as hard as I was before’ and your doctor being like ‘...yeah this isn’t curable. I’m going to give you some meds, that all come with horrible side effects, and you simply can’t do what you were doing before.’ Game over.
Trust me, that shit catches up with your body always. It might not be now, and I hope frankly it’s never, but overcommitment and workaholicism are the two fastest ways I know to chronic illness and once you get there, you can’t work your way out of it again.
Though god knows I have tried.

[RAVN] — volleyball
youngjo in volleyball, huh? you might be wondering why he’s in there
remember when youngjo said that he wasn’t very athletic to begin with?
so yes he’s in the volleyball team, except he’s their team manager
don’t get him wrong though, he knows the basics of volleyball; the rules, how to receive and toss, those types of skills
but he’s certain that playing a sport is clearly not for him,,,,
so when he finds out that there is an opening slot for the men’s volleyball team and there are incentives for them
he signs in ! also because choosing a sport that the other boys are in might be distracting if he cheers for them all the time. he’s a proud father
as a rookie manager, he had a lot to learn because being a manager meant he had to help organize events, he had to make reservations, he had to talk to the administrators often; it’s a lot to handle even if they were three people :,)
but everyone in the volleyball team is super nice and very easy to work with !
they were even nice enough to teach youngjo some more skills so in case he wanted to join them he could :]
the volleyball team even makes sure that the managers get their own jerseys WITH numbers uwu
it’s super cute because instead of their last name, it has “MANAGER” emblazoned behind
youngjo chooses number 9 bc it’s his lucky number
he really fits the managerial job well because he’s quite organized
it’s amazing how he can study and manage the vb team at the same time
dude’s super organized, his homework is very neat, and he’s always ready for anything (he always has salonpas with him if anyone needs it)
even more amazing that he and the rest of oneus can still marathon sports anime during their free time lmao
all the running youngjo has to do to visit admin offices will slowly build his muscles, but he won’t give up the managerial position any time soon
[Seoho] — football/soccer
you guys knew this was coming lmao
but not a lot of people actually know seoho is in a sports team
he’s more known for being in an advanced science program in their school
so when people hear his name being announced for an award the football team garnered recently
everyone is s h o c k e d
but he’s really humble about it! he just laughs it off when people ask him about it
it won’t erase the fact that seoho is a really good football player though
he’s jersey number 17 and he plays as a defender
and he’s pretty damn good at it because he uses his flexibility well to steal the ball from his opponent
sometimes it’s ridiculous how this guy can steal the ball despite being in a tight position (such as having around two opposing players guarding him)
it gives him a reputation among the competing schools around the region for being super quick on his feet and analytical as a player
but he’s also known for always smiling during the game
so all his photos on the school paper are super cute HAHAHAHA
when the school papers arrive, everyone is cheering for him because the photos that get used for publication are usually his since he’s so photogenic
everyone talks about it; the teachers, his classmates, the oneus boys, literally eVERYONE ! who wouldn’t though, seoho is cute uwu
as a student, this guy is smart . he’s very good at analyzing things so when it comes to problem solving he’d do pretty well
but sometimes he’ll forget that there’s homework so he just crams it before classes start or during the break
the teachers love him, everyone loves him, we all love seoho uwu

he’s a good sport with a big heart uwu but he takes baseball seriously
he diligently takes care of his body to prevent injuries by visiting the gym regularly
but he loves to eat so after training or a competition he’s usually seen with his teammates at a local korean barbeque they’re regulars in LOL
this guy watches anime so yes. he has watched daiya no a. he also watched oofuri and major. he’s trying to get his other teammates to watch them too but he’s a bit shy talking about this with them
unlike most of oneus, he keeps to himself most of the time, so his closest friends are either his teammates or the rest of the boys
he does his best to keep up with academics, but you might see this guy snoozing a bit in class (and he wakes up just before anything happens)
he still does fairly well and finishes work on time, he’s a reliable student :]

a sport that doesn’t get a lot of attention !!
keonhee has the limbs and the reach for ultimate frisbee to be honest
he has long arms that help give power to his throws, and he’s so tall that it’s difficult for people to block the trajectory of the disc
prior to being an athlete for ultimate frisbee, he actually didn’t have any sport to begin with
the people from the team were pretty much willing to teach anyone who was interested in the sport so that they could fill up slots AND make sure that there are enough people to replace the seniors
and those seniors were part of the original people who started the sports club
so when a member approached him and introduced the sport to him, keonhee gave it a try and he’s grown to love it uwu
he uses number 33 for his jersey, and out of all the members in the ultimate team he’s probably the nicest when it comes to calling fouls
because surprise surprise ! ultimate is actually primarily a self-officiating sport with several game advisors to help with settling disputes ! cool !
ultimate is an interesting sport and keonhee has a lot to learn as a rookie
and he admits that it’s hard to get used to being a student-athlete; he also takes voice lessons since his family is very musically inclined
regardless, his family supports his interest in ultimate! as long as he’s happy and that he’s still able to balance academics and music
keonhee does his best to make sure he gets to balance everything, and it’s extremely helpful that the oneus boys and his teammates help each other with school and other personal problems uwu
everyone is helping keonhee adjust accordingly and it’s going great !
sometimes when there are parties for the sports clubs keonhee volunteers to perform for their team and his voice is beautiful

another sport that I believe doesn’t get a lot of attention!
dancesport is competitive ballroom dancing and it’s no joke
my first thought was to put woongie under a streetdance team considering his specialties as a dancer
but honestly with his flexibility and stage presence, i think putting him here would fit him as well
hwanwoong usually competes under the standard division with quickstep
but there are times where he ends up competing in paso doble under the latin dance division
which is super wack because the dances he’ll end up doing are pretty much a gamble so there’s a lot of preparation needed and choreography to rehearse,,,
of course he knows what he’s doing, that’s why aside from dance practice he also goes to the gym to improve his stamina and endurance
his playlist could go from k-pop to latin music real quick because he listens to the competition pieces all the time to prepare
with all that it clearly means that his schedule is definitely packed because of his extra curriculars and academics
when he does have a break, he usually spends that time to either finish his homework or to practice his routine
even if he’s busy though he still maintains good connections with other people
parties? if he has time, sure !!
he has a lot of friends in the dancing community and outside it because he’s very sociable and nice as a person :]
if you ask the people he has worked with currently and in the past, they’ll all tell you that he’s one of the best people to work with
he’s professional, yet fun to dance and be with in general

and because dongju’s reach around the court is very extensive, he also gets assigned to play singles (he has the endurance and stamina for it)
badminton doesn’t require you to have a jersey number, but it’s a requirement that dongju and dongmyeong always wear matching jerseys during competitions
dongju is lowkey tired of it but he’ll humor dongmyeong for now
but if there’s anything in this world that dongju is sick of, it’s definitely how much people underestimate badminton as a sport :)
he didn’t train since he was 4 years old just for people to say it’s an easy sport where you just hit the shuttlecock !!
it takes so much precision and muscle memory to be able to even get the ball to the sport you need it to be !! and you need to be quick when making decisions in-game because it’s a fast sport !!

Hello! Thank you for answering my questions! (and I don't mind if you don't stay on topic, I don't either) Well for starters, I was wondering what you could actually Do with humanities degrees? I've read a lot but I didn't get any concrete answers and I don't know if you try to work with museums, colleges, government, or any of them? I keep going back to the humanities vs sciences or business but I'm not sure it would lead anywhere for me. Also if you don't mind, could you maybe point out some differences between History and Anthropology? They sound quite similar but I know they focus on different things. Thank you again for answering, I really appreciate it!
There is literally so much you can do with a humanities degree, I honestly don’t know where to start. You can work with museums, colleges, or government, or even just in a researcher in pick-whatever-job-you-can-think-of. You generally need at least a master’s to get a lot of these jobs, though that goes for most careers nowadays.(For example, a lot of lawyers start out their bachelor’s with history/pre-law, before going on to law school.)
What a lot of employers like about degrees in the humanities is the ability to research, analyze, and interpret. As far as I’m aware, most colleges and universities have skills and methods classes that you are required take even before you take your capstone that teach you how to go about this. I, personally, am very interested in public history. I absolutely love museums, and would love to be able to get into curation at some point in the future (The ultimate goal is to be able to work in DC but the curation market, especially for the Smithsonian is super competitive). Recently I have been looking at going into the National Park Service, because they have a need for historic analysts, interpreters, archaeologists, etc., and that is right up my alley. My advice would be to find something you are interested in (for example, if you’re interested in cultural anthropology) and just take even into-level classes on it. You can learn a lot.
The difference between history and anthropology is that history is the study of the written past, while anthropology is simply the study of humans. Anthropology has four main subsets: cultural anthropology, biological/physical anthropology, archaeology, and linguistics. There are even further subsets you can go into with these, for example, forensic anthropology (you ever watched the show Bones?), medical anthropology, primatology,...there’s a lot. A lot of times you’ll see anthropology described as “the science of humanity” or “the study of the nature of man” because anthropology is mostly the study of the behaviors of humans throughout history.
Like I said, history is the study of the written past. This involves a lot of what I said earlier about researching, analyzing, and interpreting. Probably my favorite thing about history is that it is always changing. We are discovering new things about the past all the time. No matter how much we try, we will never ever know the full scope of history, because we are never going to have each individual’s thoughts, opinions, or perspectives on things they witnessed. I will leave that particular subject here though, because otherwise I will never stop talking about it.
Obviously, history and anthropology tend to go hand in hand, because they tend to affect what we know about the other subject. Historical documents can provide insight to the behaviors of people two hundred years ago, and archaeology, for example, gives physical evidence of places, people, or events that we only have written records of.
The thing about the humanities, as a whole, is that they tend to build off of each other. Cultural anth and sociology, for example, often go hand in hand. I just wrote two different research papers for two different majors based off of the same topic of Jewish diaspora during the 1930s.
Like I said before, if you keep going back to the humanities find an area you are interested in and just keep taking classes. If you are interested enough, you can get pretty deep in the rabbit hole and find something that you are passionate enough to make a career out of.

Character skill sets
Obviously, you don’t really want a character that brings nothing to the table. On the other hand, a character who can do anything and everything so good that they can compete with deities dedicated to the subject of the day is often too much for the average reader to believe. There’s also a matter of how well the skills mesh together in practice, the amount of variety brought to the table, the difference between a developed skill and a mere talent, the nature of the skills - are they the sort of thing that anyone can develop or are they based on some inherent trait? - and how age and life experience plays into building a character’s ‘resume’.
It’s, as you can tell by the small laundry list I just rattled off, a tricky business.
Good news - there aren’t any hard and fast rules to giving characters skills. There are some guidelines and you’ll often find yourself playing by ear to see if your latest take strikes a sour note or not, but there are only a few ways to really do it wrong and, even then, there’s ways to salvage it.
But let’s focus on the points I listed already.
Let’s Play ‘Pick The Protagonist’ - (The Problem Of The Unique Protagonist Asset)
How many stories have you watched or read where the main character has a special, one-of-a-kind ability that makes them stand out above all the other characters in the story?
The answer is probably ‘a lot’. It can take the form of a one-in-a-million power, a sacred sword that only allows one hand to wield it, a legacy passed down over the ages... there’s a lot to work with here.
There’s nothing wrong with doing that with your protagonist. It’s probably one of the better reasons for dragging a random person into the plot - if you’re the only person who can stop the end of the world because the anti-Doomsday weapon decided that it lives in your hand now, there’s not a lot you can do about it. But there’s also something to be said for a protagonist that doesn’t have a grand destiny giving him a fair shot at victory just by merit of existing.
Plus, like. There’s also logistical issues to deal with. So let’s address those.
Depending on the story or fandom that you’re working on, a unique protagonist asset isn’t feasible. Sometimes because such things don’t exist in-universe (One Piece would be a good example of a series where literally the only thing you need to be a contender is a will to succeed and a boat, though I guess you could consider Conqueror’s Haki or a Devil Fruit ability ‘unique assets’...), but sometimes it’s just because the canon main character of the story you’re writing for already has that asset on lock.
There are ways around the second - you can kill off the original guy and take their place through reincarnation as said-guy, plot erasure of the guy (just flat-out make it so he doesn’t exist, it’ll be fine), or just being a convenient runner-up who happens to meet the bare minimum requirements to be the guy.
You can also shoehorn your OC into position to turn the Chosen Uno into the Chosen Duo, though this path of action doesn’t have the best reputation historically thanks to the influence of the Dread Mary-Sue on fandom culture (I’ll be posting an article about that eventually), or change the story to make room for a large range of potential Chosen - this one specifically can allow for an added plot aspect, because suddenly there’s competition to achieve the final goal and complete the quest for whatever.
And on that subject, let’s jump to our next point!
The Problem With Superman (and how to challenge the man who has everything)
Now, there’s no shortage of characters who, quite simply, are written to be good at everything - sometimes not even just good, but the very best ever. No, I’m not talking specifically about the Dread Mary-Sue, though the archetype associated with that term does often come with such a description. This is a pitfall just about anyone can fall into, irrespective of age, gender, background, or the originality of the work in question, even if the most blatant forms of it seem pretty easy to avoid.
Most writers know better than to make one character good at everything, but you get exceptions fairly regularly. Batman writers, for one, have a tendency to assume that Batman knows everything there is to know and can defeat anyone on his own ‘given enough prep-time’. There’s also the fact that a fair few Superman stories often have to call on Kryptonians or Kryptonite to make the plot complicated enough that the solution of ‘just move really fast and take advantage of invulnerability to punch/move/freeze/melt the problem before bad thing happen’ doesn’t work.
Then you have the more subtle examples. Where a character isn’t good at ‘everything’... just everything relevant to the plot and what we see of the setting. A good way to pick out this is to look at a story and start removing characters. Remove the science guy, the spy, the sidekick... If you can shave the cast down to your Super-suspect without having to change any major or middling-size plot points, twists, and story beats or having to shift the difficulty level of the setting, you probably have a problem.
Obviously, this doesn’t work for every story, especially if they have a very small cast to begin with. There’s also the fact that most stories are built around emotional journey’s instead of ‘use x skill to get to y place at z time’. But a lack of difficulty or danger played completely straight is something of a warning sign if you’re working with a genre that requires that there be some manner of challenge in the story.
So, let’s take a look at some of the more specific issues with power distribution.
Equal Opportunity Asskicking vs. There Can Only One Chosen One In This Town (how common is power in the setting and how does that affect the plot)
Have you ever thought about how many series - video games in particular - have the protagonist solve all the problems they come across, even the ones that seem like the sort of thing any rando could handle? Especially when you have a big organization that could theoretically handle a few of these things without the protagonist being present for everything?
It’s often hand-waved as ‘they’re not strong enough to deal with it’, but why would that make sense? If the setting is so dangerous, why isn’t there more people operating at or above the protagonist’s power level without being a member of the primary cast herd? If there’s such a dangerous colony of animals on this island, why are these fragile citizens still living there? Why is this martial art that’s so powerful and useful so goddamn rare and special despite its utility? How did such a weak person climb so far up in an organization that seems to value the punchinating power of its employees above all else?
It doesn’t make sense.
This is a problem that plagues a lot of series with an emphasis on fighting. The average person becomes an alien creature as the protagonists and antagonists gain more and more power and take down bigger and bigger opponents. The ante keeps going up and the rest of the world stays down where it started, which... well. Doesn’t make sense.
Think about Dragon Ball for a moment. On the Earth of that series, how many people would you say represent any kind of physical threat to the protagonists or the antagonists at any point in the story? I’m not asking over the course of the story if Dragon Ball-era Goku could stand even half a chance against Cooler, but if you took a specific episode from like... oh, I don’t know, the Cell Saga, how many people on the planet at that time would stand a chance of surviving the events of said-episode if they were brought into the blast radius of the plot?
The number is probably in the low tens. And the fact that, even with a lifetime of training in setting, the best chance for a person in that setting to survive that specific scenario would be coming from ‘superior’ alien stock such as the Saiyans.
And Cell isn’t even the top of the danger totem pole in setting.
Going back to our previous example, One Piece is a fairly good example of how to handle this. There are many routes of power in the series - Devil Fruits, Haki, training, inherent species traits, and more are possible in terms of physical strength, but there is also value given to intelligence and the ability to strategize and create unconventional solutions. Even the ‘weakest’ member of the Straw Hat Pirates, Usopp, who has no Devil Fruit, species ability, mutations, or, alterations, and only one form of Haki (fairly recently awakened and not even one of the offensive utility variants), is able to keep up with the rest of the crew by having a variety of weapons and skills he has developed himself. There’s also the fact that people in the setting tend to be fairly well developed to the danger levels of their relative environments, either in terms of physical strength or having strategies to deal with the dangers around them.
It still suffers from the emphasis on combat before most else, which is common in Shonen, but it at least feels fairly balanced compared to some other series that have a similar approach to strength in setting.
Besides power distribution in a setting, there are other things to consider beyond combat applicable skills.
Combo Platters/The Five Basic Food Groups (the importance of variety and moderation)
There are different types of skills that you need to balance when making a character, both in terms of variety and rationing them out in a reasonable manner.
There are career skills (good for making money, but not overly relevant to day-to-day life), utility skills (cooking, cleaning, basic home repair, etc.), recreational skills (art, music, other specific skills that aren’t necessary for day-to-day activities but lack the immediate financial reliability of career skills), interpersonal skills, and combat skills (self-explanatory).
Obviously, different skills have different ‘weights’ in terms of plot impact. A fighting series probably won’t make much of a character’s house painting skills unless it has an impact on their combat skills (which is entirely possible depending on how the writer goes about it), but someone knowing how to use a sword at a high level means that they’ve got a lot of physical capability to quite literally cut through the competition.
If you need a combat skill for a character... well, I already dedicated a post to talking about that specific range of skills. You can also apply their non-combat related skills to their fights in a tertiary sense - a lack of primary offense can lead to unorthodox tactics to bridge the gap.
But other skills have their uses too. It can allow you to make use of your characters outside of a combat context, reveal things about their character that might not be immediately obvious from their appearance - not just their interests, but background as well, though I’ll cover that a little later in more detail -, and bring them into the orbit of other characters naturalistically. You can only have so many Crash Into Hellos before the charm wears off for the audience.
In giving your character skills, you need to balance those skills. Making a character a ‘master of combat’ who can use any weapon under the sun like a master doesn’t work without some kind of supernatural explanation - martial artists tend to specialize. I’m not saying that you can’t have a character with multiple weapons skills - there’s a lot of historical real-world precedence for that, actually, usually in the combination of ‘ranged/close range/mid-range’. But a lot of those multiple weapon sets tend to be in sets that cover the weaknesses of the other weapons - sword, bow, and spear cover different combat ranges and needs, and there are various martial arts that teach their students weapons handling in conjunction with unarmed skills.
A generic ‘swords skill’ is non-functional - there are many types of sword in the world, varied by their size, weight, shape, and intended use in combat. Some swords are intended more for stabbing, others for slashing, and while you have more than a few that can do both, there are some are simple not built to stand up to the stresses of the other style.
They Didn’t Cover This In Kindergarten! (why you need to tailor skill-sets to your character’s life experience and background)
Another thing that can affect the size, nature, and diversity of a character’s skill set is their age, life experience, and background.
You wouldn’t expect a character that comes from nobility to have any concept of how to street fight without some kind of explanation attached. The same rule applies in reverse - you wouldn’t expect a character living in the gutter to know the nuances of fine manners and etiquette of nobility without a good reason. Depending on the period, a person from the second background couldn’t even be expected to know how to read.
That’s not to say you can’t use those things, but you have to have some kind of structure to support those additions. Maybe your noble doesn’t have the spotless background most would expect from one of their station or, in another scenario, someone pulled a Prince and Pauper switch back in the day and then neglected to switch them back. Same with your gutter rat - maybe they’re a fallen noble, maybe someone made a go at pulling a Pygmalion with them before losing interest, or maybe they’re an autodidact (that is to say, self-taught).
The age of a character can also affect the width and breadth of their skill set pool. People don’t expect five year olds to know much about anything - their reading skills are just getting started, their language skills a bit rough around the edges, and their ability to prepare food is generally limited to toast and toast-adjacent goods like sandwiches.
On the other hand, an elderly character, while having plenty of time to collect lots of skills, may not be able to utilize all of them anymore or might have even forgotten enough of them to be counter productive.
My grandmother, over the course of her life, has worked at several jobs that had fuck all to do with each other. She was a carhop at a drive-in, worked at a grocery store, worked at a local medical factory, worked at a guitar factory assembling instruments long enough to have a hand in every part of the process along with possessing the know-how to design a thing to make winding strings (I might be miss-remembering her exact description of the thing) faster and safer (and then not getting paid or credited for it after the company started using it), and drove bus for several years. She also had all the skills of an at-home housewife, a professional upholsterer, unprofessional seamstress, knows how to treat and care for wood furniture, knows how to work with and maintain leather (not how to make it though), was a very good cook until her physical condition no longer allowed her to handle such tasks, was physically capable enough at one point in her life to help with construction on her own home, and was a good enough artist that she was given two separate opportunities to go to college for the subject back in the 50′s.
That’s a lot of stuff. Each career - including housewife, as there’s a lot of work involved in homemaking - might provide for three to five distinct skills, a few of which would be extremely specific to that particular career path.
On the other hand, a lot of these skills haven’t been used for decades, meaning that not only would she be extremely out of practice, her understanding in a certain field might be anywhere from thirty to sixty years out of date. There’s also the fact that her physical condition is very different from what it was back then, meaning that even the skills she remembers how to preform correctly might not be feasible thanks to her own body failing to cooperate.
The Humble Bundle (varied skill-sets that come from specific careers/backgrounds).
As I touched on in the previous section about how to select certain skills for a character based on life experience and backgrounds (admittedly based on variety + how time factors into it, but that’s the point of specific focus sections), we‘re going to take a closer look at ‘skill clusters’.
You don’t have to cluster all of the character’s skills - in fact, I suggest making sure that you don’t do that, unless the character is specifically a bit character who is there to perform a specific function rather than being a long-term fixture in your cast - but there are some that simply are more expedient to cluster and can sometimes boggle the mind if the character sometimes lack some of those vital skills.
Say you have a character who’s a trucker (or, if you’re working with fantasy/sci-fi, the local equivalent of). They’d probably know how to handle a few different kinds of vehicles (in a mundane context, they’d probably be qualified for both commercial driving licenses and the unregistered kind most people have, but possibly also know how to handle loading vehicles), know how to repair their vehicle if it is damaged (this can vary in skill - knowing how to jury-rig a solution to a small inconvenience is very different from resurrecting a dead engine), have a good understanding of navigation, access to a trade-specific tongue (radio jargon, for one, if we’re still sticking with the mundane modern AU), know how to handle long hours of relatively boring work... and that wouldn’t even be the sum total of their skills tied in some way to this particular profession.
Still, it doesn’t read as an unrealistic amount of things for a single person to know how to do, does it?
On the other hand, if I gave you a character who’s... I don’t know, a generic protagonist of no particular employment and said that their list of skills includes navigation, medical knowledge, being an expert chef, trained fighter, classical ballerina, multiple languages, and limited telepathic ability, it reads as a bit much, doesn’t it? Especially when it just comes up out of nowhere without warning or even an allowance for being less than good at those things.
Part of it is that it takes time to learn how to do things, as we covered in the previous section. Having a talent or instinctive understanding for a particular subject can help cut down on that, but that can only excuse a few things - someone who’s a natural born fighter usually can’t turn that natural instinct towards language acquisition or legal understanding. The other part is that everyone knows that most people aren’t good at everything they turn their hand to, so even with a lot of effort, we wouldn’t expect a single person to be good at everything.
That’s why a diversified cast is important, so the needs of the group can be met in a more believable way, though there are also work arounds that can be used to keep the cast smaller or the inability of the group to meet those needs can be used to raise tension in the story. Injuries become a lot more notable when there’s no healer in the group, after all.
Gifts, Loans, and Hard-Earned Pay (the difference between talent, training, and temporary trades)
Now, there are a couple things you could use to ‘explain’ why a character is good at things. Like most of the points I’ve made so far, this is expanding on a few things I mentioned off hand in earlier parts of this article, such as the importance of age and life experience.
Now we’re going to be explaining the mechanics of why a person might be good at certain things. There are a few different approaches to this.
In terms of purely mundane ways, you have talent and training to explain why a person would have a certain level of ability with specific skills. These can’t universally be applied across the board, of course - you’d prefer someone with medical knowledge over someone who says that they have a ‘talent’ for it and there are other fields that require a person have a certain amount of instinctive ability to flourish. Most would agree that it’s important to have both in any given field - for example, art requires both talent (the ability to visualize what you want) and training (to transfer that vision to reality).
When dealing with supernatural settings, there are other routes. Boons from supernatural beings, familial inheritance, memories from a past life, temporary grants of power from special artifacts, and so on.
This can allow for a skill to be acquired quickly while also pushing along the plot in various ways, but there are a number of drawbacks to this one as well - a character who has been granted a supernatural power might lack the practical experience in how to use that power well, the memories of a past life don’t confer the physical conditioning required to actually pull off some of those skills or the world has moved on since those days, rendering those skills out of date and possibly useless, the artifact has a mind of its own and opinions on how it can/will be used, etc.
There are drawbacks to the more mundane routes as well. Training takes time and effort, along with coming with the risk that the character has been trained wrong or in a way that isn’t helpful to their current situation - ex. a medic who’s extremely competent in a hospital setting but is now stuck in a place where they have none of the resources they’re used to, a self-trained martial artist who doesn’t know how to modulate their force well and has a lot of holes in their technique because they never had a trainer to point that sort of thing out.
Talent can lead to a person becoming complacent with the idea that they’re automatically going to be good at a thing forever despite evidence around them to the contrary and make them frustrated whenever they do run into something they don’t quickly understand or make progress with.
On the upside, you can also use these to build off of each other. Training can help refine both talent and control over new gifts, a well-chosen gift can make a well-trained character something breathtaking, and discovering a previously untapped talent can throw a character who’s previously had to struggle for everything in their life a well-deserved bone.

blue lions x uni majors
a/n: this is largely based off university in my part of the world (ofc)
dimitri: law (dimitri honestly gives me "optimistic law kid who's in it to do the right thing and change the world" vibes. i think he’d also be able to shoulder how much of a struggle a law degree would be, with all the paper work and all of the parts that are frankly quite dry; it’s something he’s very capable of in-game, after all. the sort of student to be involved with a lot of pro-bono stuff. also a ton of law students at my uni walk around in suits and that’s a big dimitri vibe.)
dedue: agricultural science (a few different degrees came to mind for dedue, and i considered him going to culinary school. but, i think agriculture could work for him! he’s got the patience and the attention to detail i believe would be required for this sort of degree, and as it’s already an area of passion for him, i think he’d really flourish. he’d major in horticulture, and would probably be super involved in community garden projects!)
ashe: social work (he was the easiest to choose for! ashe is full of compassion, and a genuine will to do right by others. considering his own backstory, i think ashe would find social work the perfect way for him to help those in the same position he used to be in. while culinary school is still a reasonable place to put him, i just think his passion for helping those who’ve been downtrodden is something that would guide his choices for university.)
mercedes: psychology (mercedes has big counselor energy; dimitri and felix's supports come to mind. i think mercedes would love the idea of becoming a counselor, and it'd really open up doors for her when it came to helping people. i really think it’s the best avenue for her to peruse her dreams, and can blend quite well with her religious goals, too; i can see her working in both fields quite easily. she’d probably make them overlap, tbh.)
annette: arts & science (idk how common dual degrees are in other parts of the world, but they're quite common where i live! i can't imagine annette dedicating herself to only one area of study; and arts and science are two of the broadest undergrad degrees. it’d really let annette explore all the things she’s interested in before settling down on her majors!! definitely the house member who’d have the most fun at uni.)
ingrid: medicine (it was really hard for me to decide on a major for ingrid, but i get the feeling she'd be one of those kids who chooses a "responsible degree" to make their parents happy. and you can't get more responsible than med!! although you could argue for law, but i didn't want a repeat. though i do think she’s certainly hardworking and responsible enough to pull a med degree off.)
felix: business & economics (i really couldn't think of one for felix for the longest time, because i wanted something that captured his competitive nature. law is too dull for him, i think, with far too much paper work, but business may be able to provide him with that thrill? i tacked the economics on because that seems like a good addition to this sort of degree, and felix is clever enough to consider that imo.)
sylvain: media communication (oh man this one was hard,,,, at first, sylvain struck me as the sort of person who sees university mainly as a social opportunity. but, the more I thought about it, the fact that he only pretends to be a layabout came into more clarity. he’s very aware of his image, and he knows exactly what to say to both get attention and to make people disinterested in him; what i’m getting at is that sylvain knows how to create an image and a perception of himself. which i think could lead into a pretty successful career in pr.)

Ur from Singapore?! I live in Hong Kong and practically no one knows anything about woso except for some of my team mates that I play with in my club or national team. Like wut. There was no news about the World Cup on tv or newspapers. And the woso community in hk is super small I’m pretty sure I’ve played against all the girls who play soccer at my age group. But the FA is giving woso more attention with social media. Is it like that in Singapore or is it better?

But yes Singapore I would say would be quite similar to yours in hongkong! I played in my junior college(which is the school we go to before university, to take a levels), which was actually my first exposure to women’s Football. Before that I really thought it was just purely a men’s game. My dad would always drag me to male national team games and tried to get into Manchester United but I was never interested. Like only until junior college, which by then, I was already 17.
Before that, my exposure to Football was only in short sessions in pe lessons where usually due to peer pressure, not a single girl would go to, because honestly we didn’t even know there was women’s football & I think most of my Friends, it’s only after I joined the sport & sharing about woso & uswnt to them then THEY KNEW about them, which is so so sad.
There’s hardly any academies here, even for boys. There are a few clubs but I don’t think the men’s league is even that well recognised & the women’s league is so under the radar that no one literally knows. I definitely know that I wouldn’t have known if I wasn’t in Soccer myself & searched it up. They play in really discrete locations that no one ever goes & I don’t think they even sell tickets.
For women’s Football, there isn’t any primary school(ages 6-12) that offers. Which I think personally is a waste because that’s the age where children cultivate their foundation for Football the easiest and build up their interest & passion for the sport. In secondary school(ages 13-16) too, there’s only about 3 schools that offer & they’re the only 3 that have Football programs inside. As for junior college, most have women’s Football, but due to the lack of support for the sport, all the girls that join literally have no skill sets, mostly join without experience, but like me, they fall in love with it and have regrets of not joining the sport earlier. Each team have a handful that can play, but the rest usually just use their speed and stamina to play & it just looks like a mess. But I would say the most support given for women’s Football is probably in the junior college league, where there is actually quite a lot of support, but school based. In universities, there are definitely teams, but there isn’t any news/support about them either.
I only knew that there was such a thing of WOMEN playing SOCCER when I was 17. Can you believe it? 17? And most of my friends around me still don’t care about it, except for some in the team that I introduced the uswnt to(lol the blackhole:). It’s just really sad. And it’s my life now, I try to practice AND STUDY Everyday. It just changed my life and some others too. But most still don’t really care. For the WWC this year, I was lucky that beinsports Asia broadcasted the WWC (usually I watch illegally online which is now for nwsl) although they only broadcasted some... like the USA v SWEDEN MATCH they played thailand v Chile instead ahaha and after the WWC was over, there wasn’t any broadcasts of women’s Soccer anymore. Our newspapers did publish articles about woso but mostly it was just USWNT(which ok is cool already) but after the ‘hype period’ it was kind of gone, it went back to daily reports of the premier league etc.
I would say that I’m lucky to be in a school that is sports crazy so the entire school would head down to support us for matches, but other schools aren’t the same & definitely not for national teams.
There’s a stigma of Football in society that it isn’t considered as a career/ feasible dream, because of sometimes corruption & the lack of success in the national level. Singapore overly emphasises on academics & success & science unfortunately, so youths with dreams for sports often end up working in white collar jobs rather than pursuing their dreams. Mostly because most of the players aren’t able to support their lifestyle with the lack of pays.
I’ve got some seniors that went on to try to pursue their dreams, getting into us universities & playing at small clubs there. Or just playing in our national clubs. But mostly take it as a hobby or give up for a main job anyway. It is quite horrible. I see so many of inspiring individuals that end up doing something else that I know doesn’t give them as much of a glint in The Eye as Football does for them but there’s no other choice.
I would say Singapore is a practical society, so as to sustain our growth, we will have to remain competitive, even if there are some sacrifices. There are definitely more notion of support for women’s Football lately, more conversation, but Football still remains more of a male-dominated sport sadly. Especially with conservative households that doesn’t like females going out to play sports... like mine but I kinda don’t care!
I hope to continue playing Football, but I definitely hope that we can continue pushing so that more will come and support the growth of youth development in countries around the world, to invest in women, so that our sport can grow so that every little girl can know about Soccer and have the opportunity and facilities to help her get there, to achieve her dreams.

Christopher Nolan: A visionary director with beautiful combination of complexity and perception
· What is complexity?
The state of quality or being intricate or complicated.
· What is perception?
The way in which something is regarded, understood or interested.
Complexity and perception are the two different and simultaneous phenomena occurring at any instance of life i.e. complexity can be occur with anyone, in any form and up to any extent and how you relate, understand or take interest to go through that with your perception that’s what defines you.
So, basically these two objects are the strength of Hollywood’s London native director who is none other than Christopher Edward Nolan. He has directed some magnificent cinemas and gifted them to the world in which these two objects were his secret ingredients. He has revolutionized the concept of the cinema, film-making, character portrayal, filming techniques, story-telling and many other aspects revolving around a film.
His notable work in the cinema is as mentioned below:
1) Following (1998)
2) Memento (2000)
3) Insomnia (2002)
4) The Dark Knight Trilogy (2005-2012)
5) The Prestige (2006)
6) Inception (2010)
7) Interstellar (2014)
8) Dunkirk (2017)
Let us discuss his beautiful cinema work one-by-one:
1) Following (1998)
Well, this was the first break-through of its kind in the era of late 90’s and early 2000’s. It was the first major film directed by Christopher Nolan and in addition to that, it was a neo-noir crime thriller (like “No Country for Old Man”) in black & white picturization in which a person follows some strangers around the streets of London and ultimately it drawn him into a criminal underworld when he fails to keep the distance.
The important facts regarding to this movie are the film was decided to make in very limited budget. The unavailability of money was such that the scenes of the film were heavily rehearsed so that it requires only one or two takes to complete and this expense was bared by Nolan himself from his own salary. He mostly used available light as they were unable to afford professional lighting equipment. In addition to that, to reduce the manpower expense, Nolan contributed himself in writing, photographing, editing and production.
After that, when the film was released it was greatly praised by critics, reviewers and audiences.
2) Memento (2000)
Success of the film “Following” had driven Nolan to the great Hollywood where he directed his first Hollywood movie with big production company of Summit Entertainment.
This was also neo-noir thriller but in psychological genre. This film featured “perception” object of the Nolan’s strong-holds. In the movie, the black & white event series is shown in forward direction whereas the color event series is shown in reverse chronology and both the series met at the end of the film. Therefore, this results at a point where same scene is shown from three to four perceptions and the way it bends your mind is phenomenal.
Thus, this movie marked the first step forwarding into the Hollywood for Nolan.
3) Insomnia (2002)
It is the moment of success for Nolan that after making only two films, one of the biggest studios of Hollywood, the Warner Bros. collaborated with Nolan for the very first time and he directed his third film ‘Insomnia’.
Also, it was his first film in which great actors like Al Pacino and Robin Williams played lead roles and delivered their wonderful performances and made the film memorable. It follows the story of two homicide detectives who were investing a murder. Note that, this was also neo-noir thriller in mystery genre. This is the only film of Nolan in which he was not credited in story writing for the film.
It was the first commercial success of for the Nolan and critically it was well received also.
4) The Dark Knight Trilogy (2005-2012)
There was a time when superhero movies were heavily backlashed by critics, audiences and reviewers because they were lacking heavily in the areas of story, character portrayal, flamboyant costumes, proper cast and above all a pinpoint direction of the film.
It was the period where previous Batman movies were furiously rejected by public and reviewers because they have not portrayed the characters as they originally were and then Nolan helmed this very difficult task to direct superhero movie of Batman and his other characters. He nailed this job so much efficiently that this trilogy is now considered as the best superhero movies of all time.
It contained magnificent music work of Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard with magnificent performances of all the actors like Christian Bale, Heath Ledger, Morgan Fox, Liam Neeson, Gary Oldman, Michale Caine, Cillain Murphy and many others. The movie ‘The Dark Knight’ so effortlessly pictured as it marks all-time, evergreen performance of Heath Ledger as the Joker and embarked him as the greatest super-villain performance of all time.
This trilogy has proved that superhero movies can be made in depth, they too have proper story, character portrayal, engaging music and sound. It was the first time that Nolan’s film has crossed the mark of 1 billion USD which shows that how well it was received by the public and this trilogy also grabbed many awards too including Academy Award for Heath Ledger (as the Joker) for his magnificent performance.
5) The Prestige (2006)
In the continuing flow of his work, he then directed his first science-fiction film in psychological thriller genre which followed the story of two rival magicians in the 19th century, who were obsessed with creating best stage illusion and engaging in competitive one-up man ship which ended in tragic results.
This film is perfect mixture of complexity and perception as how magicians and their tricks plays with our minds and how to unfold them, are some highlighting features of this film.
6) Inception (2010)
What happen when you come to know that a film can be made only on one part of your body and it can be linked with science with grand scale which leaves you in series of questions? If you want to know then watch ‘Inception’.
A great film about mind, dreams and its strength to whatever decisions we are taking in the life and how it affects them. The story follows about how an idea can be inserted into someone’s mind through complex events and paradox loops of the mind and how the idea can be implemented to anyone which defines his rest of the life.
This was the first film of Nolan who single-handedly won four Academy Awards and marked one of the finest creations of Nolan.
P.S.: If you watch this movie, you will have a series of questions in your mind which no one can answer.
7) Interstellar (2014)
As there was a journey inside our mind in the film ‘Inception’, similarly ‘Interstellar’ movie has shown a beautiful ride in the inter-galactic space, higher dimensions and above all a great bonding between father and daughter which was strong enough to survive thorough the toughest time.
It follows the story of a group of astronauts who travel through wormhole in search of a new home for humanity. After showing all the space concepts, mind-blowing visuals of black hole, higher dimensions which were not discovered till today and amazing cinematography at the ground level it was centered on the relation of a father with her daughter as he was in the quest for returning to his home and reuniting with his children in the entire film.
There is one dialogue in the movie itself which summarizes the film:
“Love can transcend space and time.”
Understand this sentence; you will understand the true message of the film automatically.
This was the second film of Nolan, in which he did not contribute in the writing of the film and it was entirely done by his equal genius brother Jonathan Nolan with the help of physicist Dr. Kip Thorne.
8) Dunkirk (2017)
After directing many films in the genre of science-fiction and neo-noir with mixture of psychological, murder mystery and non-linear cinema, Nolan finally got his hands on the actual history incident and marked his first film based on any true story or incident.
Dunkirk follows the story of the evacuation of the Allied forces from the beach of the Dunkirk town and how they faced difficult situations created by German Forces. Nolan successfully portrayed the entire scenario so flawlessly that even world war veterans got mesmerized after watching this film.
One of the few points, which I observed that in any cinema direction, cinematography, sound mixing and recording, music, editing, screenplay are the essential and crucial elements besides performances of the actors. This film marked all the elements of film-making and every element was clearly identified amazingly. Also, this movie follows the same story-line convergence pattern of the typical Nolan style which was an additional feature to this movie.
This movie grabbed three Academy Awards and many other awards with embarking itself as one of the most accurate world war movie with highest grossing world war movie achievement.
In the end, the world is mesmerized by his films and he created his own fan following by his unique film-making style.
