When Link wakes up, it’s not the room of stone and vines that throws him. After the Shrine of Resurrection, dark, empty rooms are depressingly familiar. It’s not the fact that he’s lying on his front, head turned to the side, alone.
It’s the sensation, bone-deep, that something is Wrong.
Memory floods back—at least he didn’t lose that, too. A hand, falling off. The husk of a body, moving. Malice—Gloom?—pouring away from it and towards Zelda. He raises his wings to shield her from the attack with blind instinct, Master Sword darting out to meet the corruption.
But the Gloom eats away the blade and stretches toward the princess behind him. The only barrier is his wings, so it attacks that, too.
First, the smell of burnt feathers mixed with something dead and rotted. Then the pain; feather tips anchored in bone being eaten away at the source. The Gloom reaches his skin, sinks into his bone, and he opens his mouth to scream—can he scream?
Link jerks upright and the memory vanishes; smoke on the wind. His wings give a slight flap, raising off the floor. The flash of dark feathers makes him jerk and he curls his right wing around.
Shades of blue no longer meet his eye, but something dark, held in place with gold. They aren’t feathers—too artificial. The wing bends, but when Link brushes tentative fingers over the new wing, the feathers don’t bend as easily. The whole thing is covered in golden metal holding it together. He can’t see how it attaches to his back, but geometric lines curl over his shoulder onto his chest.
He—
His wings—
“Ah, Link. Finally, you wake.” The wing glows and Link stumbles to his feet, eyes scanning the darkness. There’s still no one here, but that’s normal, too.
“I’ve heard a great deal about you from Zelda.”
The princess is safe. That, at least, is a small consolation.
“Your wounds were severe. I am relieved to see you escape death.”
His wing, what about his wing? Everything aches; deeper than his bones. It’s like a Hinox stomped across the top of him, then threw him to a lynel for good measure. Did Mipha’s Grace save him? The gift faded along with her spirit, but how else is he alive? Does he want to be alive?
If even this isn’t enough for the Goddess, what more does he have to give?
The voice continues, “Your wing, however, was beyond saving. I had to replace it, lest the injury endanger you further.”
Link curls the wing around to stare at the false feathers that no longer glow. There’s no further explanation and Link looks around again, eyes catching on the Master Sword. Or—what’s left of it.
He takes a step and freezes. The balance is all off. He’s suddenly unmoored from the ground, tilting slightly. He shuffles his wings; the fake one feels like the old one, except for that pervading sense of Wrong, just enough to trip him up. He takes another step.
Link throws his arms out, even though he’s barely moved. It’s wrong. He stretches his wings out as far as he can, leaning from one side to the other as he feels out the balance. The new wing is heavier than the old, for all it responds the same.
Pulling them back in, he can’t help but curl into himself. Will he be able to fly again? If he can’t, what happens after this journey when he joins the Chain again? Link refuses to consider an if, firmly settling on a when.
If he can’t fly, he’s a burden, and burdens aren’t heroes.

Whumptober Prompt Fills Part 10: Failure
~Also on AO3~
No. 29: “I only sink deeper the deeper I think.” | Scented Candle | Troubled Past Resurfacing | “What happened to me?”
Alt 2: Aftermath of Failure (Replacing 16)
Warnings: Discussion of past failure, implied trauma and flashbacks, mention of injury
Central character(s): Time, Wild
The battle was effectively over; even as Time looked around, sword at the ready, the last gold bokoblin fell to a combined attack by Wind and Four, leaking black blood on the ground for a moment before it exploded into smoke. Time sighed and nodded to himself as the others instinctively gathered around the wounded: Wild had been trampled by a lynel as it made its final charge - he'd shot it in the throat just before impact - but was stirring feebly under Sky's hands. Warriors was pulling an arrow out of Hyrule's shoulder while Legend held him down, telling him firmly that he was to accept healing for himself before going to check on Wild and that squirming was just making the wound larger. They all had the usual collection of cuts and bruises, but overall had got off lightly apart from those two.
"I'm going to check there are no more lying in wait," he called.
Twilight had joined Sky kneeling over Wild and was uncorking a potion, but he looked up and nodded. Four and Wind also looked round from hovering between their injured brothers and Four hurried to a ruined wall to climb up it and get a good vantage point. Wind stayed where he was, looking around carefully, his sword still in his hand.
Time smiled proudly and set off.
The battle had taken them into the edges of Wild's Castletown: a sad collection of ruins that, unlike other ruins in Wild's Hyrule, had not been taken over by nature. Only a few green shoots were starting to sprout between cracked stones and the shadow of the deserted castle fell ominously over everything. Once Time had turned a few corners away from where his boys were recovering from the battle, it was mournfully quiet.
Familiarly so.
As Time looked around the ruins of Castletown, destroyed by Ganon while its hero was deep in a magical sleep, his armor suddenly felt strange. He almost thought he heard Navi's voice in his ear, so clear that it made him look round for her.
In the distance he saw Vah Medoh, resting peacefully on its perch, and that reminded him that he was in Wild's Hyrule, not his own. That he was a grown man, no longer a child suddenly thrust into a teenager's body.
He shook his head hard and hastily continued his patrol, just watching for movements and trying not to look too hard at the empty, roofless houses marked with scorch marks.
He couldn't get back to the others too soon.
They had set up camp a little way further from the town and both Wild and Hyrule had been healed. Time smiled and spoke to them in something close to a daze, ate dinner without really being aware of what he was putting in his mouth, brushed off concerned questions, and went to sit on a rock overlooking the town. He knew it was a bad idea. He knew sitting and looking at a standing reminder of the moments after he had left the Temple of Time wouldn't help anything, but he felt drawn to it despite himself.
With a sigh, he picked up his ocarina - not the Ocarina of Time, but his own - and started playing it softly, settling into Zelda's Lullaby to stop himself drifting to the Song of Time.
"Time?"
He startled and looked up as Wild came and crouched down on the rock next to him, balanced on the balls of his feet. The champion nodded a greeting to him, then looked out over the ruins with a sigh.
"How are you feeling?" Time asked softly.
"Still bruised, but barely worth mentioning." Wild shifted to sit down normally and rested his elbows on his knees. After a long moment he said softly, "I hate coming here."
Time looked round at him again.
"I don't remember it except ruined and full of Malice and guardians. I've been back with Zelda a few times - she has big plans to rebuild - and she tries to tell me what it was like before, but…" Wild shook his head.
"What does she say?" asked Time, curious and glad of the distraction.
Wild shrugged. "Busy. Colorful. It sounds like it was a lot like your Castletown, actually."
Time looked back at the ruins. "Yes. It does remind me of my Castletown."
He could almost feel Wild's stare, but wasn't sure how to elaborate.
"I suppose… the fountain is in the same place? Relative to the castle?" ventured Wild.
Time sighed, shaking his head. "Sorry, it's… difficult to talk about. You remember I told you that when I took on Ganon the kingdom was already in ruins?"
Wild nodded.
"Well… Before that happened, the sword made me sleep for seven years while Ganon triumphed. When I emerged…" Time gestured to the maze of crumbling stones in front of them and the dark mass beyond it. "This was what I found."
Wild looked back at the ruins. "How many times did you defeat him? Ganon, I mean?"
"I hardly know the answer to that myself any more."
"But he never defeated you. Well…" Wild's eyes flicked back towards the camp, where a sudden peal of Legend's laughter had just rung out. "I see why you don't like talking about it. Just thinking about it makes my head hurt."
Time chuckled. "Indeed. But to respond to what you're really saying, I did fail. I was a child and I couldn't stop Ganon and that's why I was forced to sleep for seven years until I was taller and stronger, but in the meantime Zelda and the people of Hyrule saw Ganon rise and suffered under his rule and when I emerged from my sleep a thriving town was a deserted ruin." He glanced at Wild and patted his shoulder. "Seven years, a hundred years, and it comes to the same thing in the end."
Wild scowled. "I wasn't a child, though. I just… I don't even remember what happened. Just a couple of moments that tell me we ran." He picked up a small stone and threw it morosely to rattle down the slope towards an empty street. "I don't know why. I don't know what I saw or what I tried to do or if I even tried anything to fight. You did, I assume."
Time remembered Ganon looming over him and laughing as he lay on the ground, a helpless child not even worth killing. "Oh, yes, I tried. But even if I might not recognise Princess Zelda's Appointed Knight, I know the Hero of the Wild and I can't imagine he was all that different. I can't imagine you didn't even try."
Wild made a noise halfway to a bitter laugh.
Time laid a hand on his shoulder and said softly, "It's OK, Wild."
Wild shook his head.
"Wild. It's OK."
Wild shook his head again, but this time he leaned a little closer and let Time wrap an arm around his shoulder. After a moment, he relaxed his head onto Time's shoulder.
"It's OK," said Time again, resting his cheek on the top of Wild's head. The silence stretched as they looked out over the ruins, but Time felt better. His Castletown and his Hyrule thrived. This one was as scarred and weary as its hero, but Wild was healing. One day his Hyrule would do the same.

Fandom‧˚。゚・° 。✎ Legend of zelda
Pairing‧˚。゚・° 。✎ Yandere!Ganon x reader
Word count‧˚。゚・° 。✎ 746
Summery‧˚。゚・° 。✎ You’re the heir to the throne of a small kingdom. Things start to become weird when Ganon asks for your hand in marriage, and doesnt take no for an answer.
Misc‧˚。゚・° 。✎ third person pov, mentions of violence, obsessive behavior, implied stalking, marriage
Why? It’s one of the most difficult questions to try and find an answer to. Ganon wasn't cordial by nature. However he seemed to be trying his best to come off as such. It was strange. What he said could not be what he really meant, but no matter how much people tried to pry he just said he was being truthful. He only wanted your hand in marriage; and with it a right to rule. That had to have been it. With the marriage your power would in part become his. Yet that couldn't have been all of it.
Your kingdom was not the biggest, strongest, or even the best to propose the deal to if he just wanted power. There was something more at stake here. You just didn't know what yet. The letter proposing the plan asked if the two of you could meet in person to discuss matters further. Instead of politely declining you said yes. This isn't something you could turn down. If his pride was wounded, he might take stronger action to take what he wanted.
The meeting was you doing all of the talking. Ganon just danced around the question of what his intentions were. Either he would lay some threat at you or your people if you didn't comply, or he would say something that must have been sweet by his standards. It was bone chilling. The way he spoke about how you were already his and how he did love you, and had ways to prove it, left you with no chance. You turned down his proposition for now. Lying through your teeth a promise to consider the offer was said.
He just nodded and left. Not saying a word. Later that day the council was scared out of their mind. Asking how the private meeting went. They urged you to be careful and to genuinely consider the marriage. It would be good to avoid conflict. Even if this didn't lead to war, making enemies with this man was not an ideal situation to be in.
So you were true to your word, and you went to bed promising to stay true to what you said earlier. The next morning several gifts were waiting for you to open. Were these prepared for if you said no? Did he plan to give them to you because he figured you would say yes? It didn't matter. Over the next few weeks Ganon would have gifts delivered. They were never accompanied by a note or letter. From gold and jewels to trophies from monsters he had killed, the items ranged from standard gifts to more worrying items.
There had been reports of a lynel who was moving a bit too close to one of the villages in your territory. Like clockwork the moment you heard about the news three days later it’s head was left in front of your castle. Was this his way of saying he cared about you and your people, or something more threatening? A gift in disguise. The truth of the matter was he had spies who heard of these reports, and while unnoticed snuck into your land, and back out. All in the matter of a day or two. He was already back in his castle by the time you heard the news.
From what you heard this was just his way of showing affection and pride. He was showing you he was capable of defending you from outside threats. That didn't make it feel any more sincere though. It hardly seemed like a true act of kindness. Both Ganon’s past and present actions seemed to be his way of saying he will do what he wants. He would enter your country with your grace or without. It was up to you. By welcoming him with marriage rather than through a war it would give you more leverage. It was the smarter option. That didn't make it any easier.
It was with a heavy heart you agreed to the marriage. For your people and his. The next time you spoke in person he seemed much happier. There was a grin stuck on his face. Like he couldn't be happier with the outcome. How couldn't he smile? You were a rabbit standing in front of a wolf. Both of you knew there was no way out. One could only watch in horror to see how long it takes before the wolf decides to take a bite.

Mirror Shield and Master Sword mash-up. Forged from of the Master Sword shards that sprung off in ToTK Ganondorf reawakening scene. Damages enemy when parrying. Design notes under cut.
Thought that "hey, the master sword can regenerate a lot, could the shards that sprung off in totk's first scene be regenerated? Wait, what if you reforge it into a shield!? It would need light... Wah, there is a shield just to do with light! The mirror shield! Yes! It uses mirrors to focus the light into the master sword pieces! And then we could use diamond (the mineral associated with the power of light according to the diamond circlet) as prisms and lenses to focus it more! Also it gotta have inherent parry damage, like the lynel shields..."
That's how this concept was made.
Took inspiration from the Wind Waker mirror shield and the savage lynel shield for the shape, plus master sword blade stuff. Took the decorative patterns from the Ocarina of Time mirror shield, mixed with the pattern on the master sword. The bilateral three edge gold things is a reference to the Majora's Mask mirror shield. The dark blue edge is from Wind Waker mirror and a reference to the master sword handle.

Tears of the Kingdom: The Final Analysis
Part 10
Part 9 here
Tumblr media
After the beam shoots into the sky, monsters crash down like meteors in bursts of malice.
Tumblr media
This differs from Breath of the Wild's blood moon mechanic, where wisps descent to circle around monsters and poof them into existence.
Tumblr media
There are snowy trees in the background, meaning this is somewhere either in the Hebra region or the Gerudo highlands. I believe this is the former, mainly because of these:
Tumblr media
We get three Lynels—a blue, a black, and a silver, all with strange horns.
Something I do in my spare time in Breath of the Wild is go Lynel-hunting. I try to wipe them all out before the Blood Moon starts to rise, and while usually, the Lynels are pretty evenly spaced, there's one spot that has multiple in it within shouting distance of each other.
Tumblr media
There ARE some trees in the area, if a little sparse. So I think that the point this shot takes place in is right here:
Tumblr media
Then the Lynels themselves are...odd.
Tumblr media
This one has new horns, which seems to be a common theme among the revived monsters.
Tumblr media
But this one has asymmetrical horns, one of which looks like a narwhal horn or a ridiculously long blade. It very likely attacks with this when it does its charging move:
Tumblr media
But then the blue Lynel—
Tumblr media
It straight up has a blade on its crown.
Tumblr media
And it's bolted into place, so this is definitely metal.
Tumblr media
Then this piece here has a blade's edge, just like the Savage Lynel Sword of Breath of the Wild.
Tumblr media
So when the Lynel dies, does this drop and become a weapon? We know the Moblin horn can be one, back from the Goron fight scene in Eldin.
Tumblr media
We then go to the malice climbing up Link's sword arm, a scene we saw in the earlier trailers back in complete darkness.
Tumblr media
But as it goes up, it not only seems to cause Link pain, but it blackens his tunic. This blow was likely meant to consume Link entirely, but he managed to pull away at the last second—and it might be why we later see him in Zonai garb, because this tunic is ruined and needs repairing.
Tumblr media
What's more, this isn't his first encounter with the malice.
Tumblr media
His pants and the edge of his tunic are singed, and even the chainmail underneath has started corroding. The malice on his arm is nowhere near touching this whole thing, so this is after some prior fight.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Next, we get our first proper look at Rehydrated Ganon. Malice comes off of him like steam under the light of the blood moon. Random note, his nails are painted black.
Tumblr media
But this structure. It's part of Hyrule Castle.
Tumblr media
The stone and style matches up well.
Tumblr media
Specifically, I think he's up here. I can't see him going off-center, especially in a cutscene, and up here is the only central spot with parapets tall enough and widely spaced enough to match the cutscene.
Edit: There are also lilypads up here! I need to find them.
Tumblr media
Ganondorf roars, properly rehydrated—he looks VERY different to his corpse form.
Tumblr media
First and most notably, his chin lacks facial hair completely, but the differences continue from there.
Tumblr media
Corpse Ganon has fangs, live Ganon does not.
Tumblr media
Corpse Ganon's eyes are malice slits, with black sclera. Live Ganon's are bright red with round pupils, and white sclera.
Tumblr media
Corpse Ganon's headdress digs into his muscles, while Live Ganon's sits atop his head, unbound. On top of this:
Tumblr media
The gem here, while hard to make out, is a tear, like Zelda holds.
Tumblr media
This is directly confirmed in his official art. Interestingly, as well, his art gives him gold eyes, rather than red.
Tumblr media
This, however, is not a tear. It's a glowing void, like something reaching for power to latch onto. Ganondorf undergoes some drastic changes to get enough power to regain his humanity—likely relating to acquiring the tear itself.
Out of images yet again, part 11 coming up!
Edit: Part 11!

Febuwhump Alt Prompt 9: Lightning Strike (AKA Day 24)
Tags/Warnings: Canon-typical violence, broken bone (implied), character gets used as a lightning rod (electrocution + burns)
Sky will do whatever it takes to make sure Wind, if not both of them, make it out alive. On the other hand, Wind is utterly horrified at the means Sky takes to ensure this.
Read it on AO3!
Charged Protector
Wind let Sky pull him along, terror racing through him at the roaring of both the thunder and what Wild had called a Lynel. He had caught a glimpse of it through the rain; a truly massive and terrifying creature, before they had been- terribly unevenly- split up. His legs and chest burned as he forced himself to keep up with the taller hero, who he could just barely see through the torrential downpour, the brilliant gold of the helmet he wore the most noticeable. When they had stepped out of the portal, Wild immediately instructed them to hand over anything metal, and while the others had, Sky had politely refused, insisting he keep the Master Sword on his person. Wind had watched their brief argument, which ended with Wild backing down and handing Sky the helmet he now wore.
A shot of panic shot through him as he felt his foot slip on the mud-slick ground, with a yelp he went down, feeling Sky stop as his grip slackened. Wind let out a string of curses when he felt white hot pain rocket up from his ankle, subsequently making his panic rise a few notches. Using Sky as an anchor, he hauled himself up, the hero quickly catching on and assisting. Wind hissed when his foot met the ground, nearly buckling underneath him- at the very least it was sprained, but the amount of pain marked it as something more serious.
“It’s either sprained or broken.” As if he could sense Sky’s question, Wind answered, leaning heavily on the Skyloftian. His eyes widened as he realized the sudden absence of the weapon Wild had handed to him, “Sky! I lost my weapon-“ He was cut-off as Sky tugged him sharply to the left, feeling his hair ruffle as a spear sailed past his head. Wind opened his mouth to speak, only to be pulled after Sky again, gritting his teeth as he was forced to run on his ankle, pain shooting up with every step.
Sky skidded to a stop, and Wind, unable to fully stop himself, collided with his back. “I’m sorry for making you run with your ankle, but I needed to get us out of there.” The skyward knight brought his hand to Wind’s shoulder, gently pressing down and forcing the sailor to sit against a rock. He did, ignoring the way the mud soaked into his pants, “We would’ve been Lizalfos food otherwise.” That would explain the spear, then.
Lightning crashed nearby, setting a tree ablaze that was just as quickly put out by the downpour, accompanied by a roar. The two heroes froze, sharing twin looks of horror; the Lynel had found them. Wind tried to get up, but Sky just forced him back down, when he went to snark at the older hero, he stopped as he saw the determined look on Sky’s face- wait, his face? The sudden distinct lack of the helmet made Wind freeze.
Sky held the golden helmet out to him, “Put this on.” His tone left no room for an argument. Shakily, Wind took the helmet, and tugged it onto his head. It slowly dawned on him what exactly this meant; Sky was without any sort of protection from the lightning. He remembers that Wild had said, very clearly, that the lightning would be attracted to any sort of metal object, and the Master Sword was very obviously made of metal.
“What about you? You can’t go out in the storm! You need this, or you’ll get struck, just like Wild said!” Wind felt himself choke on the tears he hadn’t noticed streaming down his face, mixing and mingling with the rainwater. Sky fixed him with a sad look, “It won’t be the first time, but I’m not risking you getting struck.” What? He didn’t have time to ask what Sky meant, as the roar from earlier sounded again, much closer than before. The Skyloftian had taken off towards the hulking figure Wind could just make out in the rain, and he could feel that trickle of feeling utterly useless start up, being unable to do anything as he watched Sky’s figure stop and slowly raise the Blade of Evil’s Bane skyward, crackling electricity dancing along it. Golden Goddesses above, he wasn’t doing what Wind thought he was doing, was he?
Wind snapped his head upward, the pit of terror inside of him growing wider as the storm swirled directly above Sky, becoming darker and darker. It felt like time had slowed as the lightning struck true, causing the sword to glow a blinding blue-white, followed by a deafening crash of thunder that swallowed most of Sky’s pained scream. In the same motion, he watched the knight bring his arm downwards in a swift and violent motion, the Master Sword singing as he did. And with wide eyes tracking the movement, Wind watched the glowing beam shoot out, slicing through the imposing figure of the Lynel. It gave one last roar before disappearing into smoke.
Resolutely ignoring the burning pain, the sailor forced himself up and ran over to Sky, who had collapsed, the Master Sword laying in the mud. Wind dropped to his knees, nearly gagging at the smell of burning flesh, daring to take a peek at the other’s sword arm- an instant regret. He quickly tore his eyes away and scrambled near Sky’s head. With a sigh of relief, he saw his chest rising and falling, and hunched over the hero, feeling his tears sting his eyes. Wind hiccuped, unable to stop himself as the fear and pain finally reached the tipping point. Sobs tore out of his mouth, and he brought his head down to rest on Sky’s chest, ignoring how the helmet dug uncomfortably into his head, sobs of relief joining the mix as he listened to the beating of his heart, drowning out the frantic calls of the other heroes.

What monster, from any LoZ game, could kill two of Wild’s lynels if they had the shadow-cursed blood and Wild’s lynels did not (but they are gold)? Looking to mix up my creature types in a fic but overwhelmed by the possibilities and research needed for each.

He felt the death of the Lynel that guarded his chasm die. It was time. He wove grief and fury into the constructs the heroes had defeated and sent them after the Champions of Hyrule. Link would come to him alone.
He had hoped Link would come dressed for the occasion- but whatever the intent of his garments, protection was not one of them. Ganondorf had every moment of this encounter planned, anyway. Victory would be his. He called strength into his withered bones and life into the atrophied body. They drew blades. It was magnificent.
But- just as Ganondorf reached for his true strength, the little hero stepped back. There was no fear in his eye, no determination or desperation. The gerudo king knew that look- the man wore nothing but grief. The hylian fated to destroy him laid down his blade and knelt on the ground.
"For which do you plead," Ganondorf roared. This was not the victory he wanted. "Mercy in life, or the mercy of death?"
The small man shut his eyes tight like he was holding back. Braced. Trying to remember. "You... you did not open the ground."
Ganondorf paused.
"You didn't mean for her to fall."
The king did not dare lower his weapon. He had witnessed too much of this one tiny warrior to trust any moment of rest.
"You were loved by your people, before Rauru, weren't you?"
He was not sure which was stronger- the fury or the sorrow. The memories of his people were so thin now. He had held onto them as his undead grip could, but so many eons frozen in the moment of stolen triumph destroyed them. His mothers' names were engraved on his blades, but it had been so long. He almost couldn't read them.
"I live and die for my Princess." The hylian pressed his fists into his knees. "But there is no restoring her. The last heir of Rauru and Sonia has left the throne forever. The champions will defend their people from anything- and they are able. They are good hearted."
Ganondorf held his breath. The Hyrule that had destroyed the world he was born to, was gone. Without their monarch, the people would either drift apart or come together as they saw fit. The Gerudo King had outlived his enemy. The last piece knelt on the ground before him.
"Please give me the stone."
"That you might be the last Hylian sage?" Ganondorf scoffed. "That you might leverage your friends and your power to enforce the laws and borders of a monarch long dead? No."
The hylian
bowed
and put his forehead to the floor.
"I live and die for my princess," he repeated. "If I swallow a stone, I can fly with her. Ensure she is never alone."
"Your little friends would surely give you theirs." Ganondorf was right. He knew he was right, and so did this pitiful creature. "But that would mean leaving a nation without a great power the others possess. Opportunity."
Link did not move. He did not say anything else.
It was a long time before Ganondorf accepted the warrior would not fight anymore. He was not sure what would happen without his stone, but- perhaps this was an end he could live with. The infestation of Hyrule was dying. He knelt down, grabbed the boy by his hair, and shoved the large stone of Darkness into his throat. It changed to gold as it touched his tongue.
The dragon that rose up out of the man was as mad as the warrior he had been, but through the roof, Ganondorf witnessed the Dragon of Light fly to his side.
To his own surprise he was still alive.
So, he picked up the little slate tool the warrior left behind.
Well, well. Link wanting to be with Zelda, one of the only remnants of a time gone by, who understood and shared the painful memories of what Hyrule had undergone, makes sense. He also seems to bank on the idea that Ganondorf has that nobility of character in him, that he was one a respected king, and I suppose Ganondorf giving him the stone was a sort of litmus test for Link's hunch to be proven true. And now Ganondorf is left in a world where there is nothing familiar to him, which that in itself is a punishment of its own.
