ALICANTO FLOOR LAMP BY FONTANA ARTE
Its name comes from Chilean mythology, Alicanto, a nocturnal bird that is said to live in the Atacama Desert and has the peculiarity of feeding exclusively on gold and silver. According to the fable, its feeding makes it unable to fly but makes its wings glow with golden reflections. The miners, seeing its light in the dark, would follow it and thus find gold. It was therefore the image of this bird capable of lighting up the night, about to take flight but firmly set on the ground, that suggested the inspiration when it came to finding a name for a new lamp characterized by a slight forward imbalance: its arched shape is all projected to carry the light, almost as if to «extend» it, as far as possible. An elegant and sophisticated fitting, Alicanto is a contemporary lamp, solid and light, with an innovative design that is capable of adapting to cutting edge furnishings without departing from the FontanaArte philosophy, in balance between art and industry, suspended between clarity and durability.

Jackson's Daily Bestiary #10: Alicanto
Region of origin: Chile
The Alicanto is a legendary bird from Chilean mythology who lives in the Atacama desert. It is said that at night, its wings shine brightly with beautiful metallic colors and its eyes glow radiantly and colorfully. It feeds on ores, and the ores it eats affect the colors of its glow, so for example, if the Alicanto eats a lot of gold, it will gain a golden coloring, or if it eats a lot of silver, it will have the color of silver, and so on, although its wings are also often described to be copper green.
While the Alicanto can fly, it prefers not to, choosing instead to simply walk on the ground. This is because of the weight brought on by its diet of minerals, meaning the less the Alicanto eats the faster it can move. The Alicanto lives in hills and caves filled with many precious minerals. In fact, the Atacama Desert where it lives, which exists in real life, is known for being rich in minerals[1].
Because of this, minners and prospectors often sought out this bird. It is said that if a person successfully manages to follow the Alicanto, they shall be led to a cave or hill, where they will find great amounts of precious ores and thus become wealthy. However, if the person is spotted, the Alicanto will turn off its glow and fly away, leaving the person lost in the dark. Additionally, if the person following the Alicanto is not pure of heart, it will grab the person and drop them to their death.

The Alicanto from Chilean folklore.
Alicantos are commonly portrayed as large birds, although their size and shape often differ based on the specific sighting or story being told. Due to the weight of the ore it consumes, Alicanto is unable to fly and instead runs on the ground. Interestingly, it moves faster when it hasn't eaten recently.
They nest near hills that contain the precious stones that they eat. Spotting an Alicanto is said to bring good luck. If a miner can find and follow an Alicanto for a while without being caught, the miner will find silver and/or gold. However, if Alicanto discovers them, it will push the person off of a cliff or lure them into a deep ravine where they fall to their death. Although, it's also said that Alicanto will help humans that they favor to find gold and silver, as long as the human shares what they find with the bird.

Ancardia's Unusual Animals--The Alicanto
Classification: Beast (avian)
Habitat: Montane forests in the Silver Coasts and Fallar region, as well as parts of the Southern Drakalors.
The Alicanto is a peafowl-like bird of the western southern hemisphere which is known for its fabulous metallic-hued plumage—to the extent that folktales have cropped up which ascribe its beautiful colors to the hues of the precious metals it no doubt consumes. While alicanto do eat grit like many other birds, especially the seed-eating species, they are not known to have an actual preference to anything derived from gold or silver, as the legends tell. Historically, alicanto have been trapped and attempts to train them into leading miners to viable veins of silver or gold have been fraught, usually ending with famine and death for both birds and miners.
Alicanto have gender dimorphic appearances—the males being a more vibrant gold hue with portions of metallic green and silver on the wings and tail plumes, as well as black striping near the eyes and cheeks. The females are usually mostly a dull silvery hue all over, but for some black and white on the wings and a wave of gold among the tail feathers. The birds have an omnivorous diet much like many galliform birds, and most of their diet consists of seeds, small insects, greenery and some other invertebrates. They live for an estimated 12 years in the wild and are considered adults by about 8 months of age. At one time in history, before the tales of their precious-metal association were as widespread, the alicanto was an occasional game bird for the Doravn folk who lived in the same regions; this practice of alicanto hunting has overall ceased due to the now low numbers of these birds—likely due to poaching for both exotic pet trades for status-symbol animals and for their beautiful plumage among the upper class of both the Ayn Kingdom and the Heartland Empire.

Demo Announcement and Poll
With a poll comes the arrival of the Gold Rush demo game, so allow me to say:
Welcome to Gold Rush!
The game, even as you see it now, is not final. This is just a demonstration and everything you see, including the audio and background images, are not going to be a permanent part of the game, this is simply to help with the visualisation and due to time restrictions and just overall limitations. This for a college FMP after all, and I only had 3 months, and with limited skills.
In the actual production of the game, I’d like to have original audio that truly fits the game (maybe even some custom audio tracks for the characters), hand-drawn backgrounds and more consistent sprites and even some official art, but so far, this is what there is.
Since it is a demo, it also stops after Alicanto explains the rules of the game show, so the poll is more for first impressions of the characters and to further explain the concept.
It is not a legitimate poll, and one will not be released until the first round of the game is complete, which will take time and effort, though thankfully without the limitations of college (this very post will show up on the deadline) I can work on improving the game and adding to it in my own time.
Since the demo poll is not legit, you can vote at any time and it will not expire.
So have fun and I hope you’ll support the project!

Duck AU Ideas and Stuff
just reposting some ideas and shit ive posted on amino. you can suggest ideas for my au if you want. its going to be long so here we go:
Super Paper Ducktales Roles Help
I need help with some characters roles I haven’t decided on yet here are the ones:
Bowser for the adult heroes ver
Dimentio for the adult minions ver for now it’s Magica but idk if I’ll keep it.
Most of the important side characters
The characters can come from any Disney Duck media not just Ducktales.
(Note: Merlon and Nolrem are counterparts to each other. Same with Fracktail and Wracktail. Bonechill is basically Satan/Lucifer.
Jaydes is basically Hades and Grambi is basically God. Luvbi is the child to Jaydes and Grambi.)
Merlon
Nolrem
Luvbi
Jaydes
Grambi
King Croacus IV
Old Man Watchitt
Fracktail
Wracktail
Flint Cragley
Bonechill

Myth AU Ideas Part 1
I’m mixing different canons together for this with dt17 being the base.
Some of The Coots and Ducks have creature forms but it’s a 50% chance overall. (It’s genetics in this case. While with the McDucks it’s a bit of genetics and curses) Here are some of them that have creature forms:
Coots: Elivira Coot (Grandma Duck), Casey Coot, Gus Goose, Don de Pato aka Don Dugo, Cuthbert Coot, etc
(fun fact while doing some looking into Don de Pato, also Don Dugo is his German name. he was originally from the McDucks, but in the LOT3C he was changed to be a Coot ancestor instead. Also the conquistador armor makes more sense now cause he’s actually from Spain. His creature form would most likely be something Spanish but idk yet and with the others idk what there creature forms would be. Also that maybe Panchito and José’s ancestors would also have a form, there’s will also be European for Jose’s ancestor Pascoal Papagaio it would be Portuguese not Brazilian because of the time period same with Panchito’s ancestor Gallus Maximus it would be Spanish not Mexican.)
Ducks: Pintail Duck, Eider Duck, Abner Whitewater Duck, HumperDink Duck, etc
people with creature forms have two different puberty’s the regular puberty and first few transformations.
In Lena’s redemption arc in the au will be a bit different her creature form changes a bit kinda like the mlp changelings in season 6.
Goldie is a mix between a Sirin and Alicanto from Russian and Chilean myths with a bit of Siren. Alicanto is a gold associated mythical bird and Sirin is a bird woman hybrid.
Those who have creature forms are usually seen as a different group compared to those who don’t have one, you usually can’t tell someone has one unless you see them transform. There sometimes seen as a minority depending on the location.
There’s an really rare case where one person has more than one creature form, it’s usually for those with a personality disorders for example D.I.D. but can also happen without the personality disorders, but it’s extremely rare.
The Legend of Three Caballeros Versions of April, May, and June will be in this au as Daisy’s nieces along side the clones May and June from dt17 canon. Webby is not a clone of Scrooge in this au or any au/ new headcanons I make. but May and June are still clones of Webby. TLoTC April May and June all have creature forms I don’t know what they’ll be yet.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Myth AU Duck Family stuff
just to catalog which ones would have a true form and ones that don't, for future reference.
i had to look at a couple of duck family trees for this. and i thought my family tree is complicated. i would add more but this took so long to compile so yeah.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
McDucks: All of McDucks have creature forms
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Spouses/Parent/Lover that have one: Downy O' Drake, Daisy Duck, Goldie O' Gilt, Donna Duck, etc
Spouses/Parent/Lover that don't have one: Molly Mallard, Ludwig Von Drake, Goostave Gander, Lulubelle Loon, Luke Goose, Grstchen Grebe, Gertrude Gadwall, etc
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Father of HDL: Unknown
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ducks:
Has a True Form: Pintail Bos’N Duck, Humperdink Dabney Duck, Eider Duck, Abner Whitewater Duck, Donald Fauntleroy Duck, Della Dumbella Thelma Duck, Huebert Huey Duck, Dewford Dewey Deuteronomy Dingus Duck, Llewellyn Louie Duck, April Duck, May Duck, June Duck, Clones May and June Duck, etc
Doesn't have one: Daphne Duck, Quackmore Duck, Fethery Duck, Gladstone Gander, Moby Duck, Dugan Duck, Dickie Duck, Clyde Shamrock Gander Duck, etc
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Coots:
Has a True Form: Elivira Abigail Coot, Cuthbert Coot, Casey Coot, Don De Pato Dugo, Gus Goose, Kildare Coot, etc
Doesn't have one: Cornelius Coot, Clinton Coot, Fanny Coot, etc
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Honorary Family:
Have True Form: Webbigail Webby Vanderquack, Bentina Beakley, Launchpad McQuack, Lena DeSpell/Saberwing/LeStrange, Gyro Gearloose, etc
Doesn't have one: Fenton Crackshell Cabrera, Violet Saberwing, Goslayn Mallard, Drake Mallard, Boyd, Panchito Romero Miguel Junipero Francisco Quintero González III, José Carioca, etc
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
All Duck AU’s and OC’s Ideas and shit
Super Paper Ducktales Ideas: im going to try not spoil anything from the game (even tho it’s 15 years old but still) cause I highly recommend you watch a let’s play or play it for yourself to understand what im trying to do. Plus it’s a amazing game.
Since Mimi is Webby (kid minion) and Della (adult minion) they both should have the “true” form like Mimi does In the original game (if you know you know) idk if I’ll stick with the spider aspect of the original or go for something different. The Thing aspect of the original will still be there, it has to be terrifying.
Some scenes change depending on the version of the au. Like for example the love simulator portion of chapter 3-4 will stay both versions with slight differences.
Im thinking Gladstone or Dapper Duck for Bowser in the adult hero version, but Im debating whether or not it’s a good idea.
Some events are completely changed or removed to make it fit more with the duckverse.
Angst potential everywhere. >:) Donald and Louie get tortured to hell and back (literally) just like Luigi does in the original game. (My favs getting lots of trauma is my fav thing to do cause I love em)
Some Super Paper Mario lore (and yes there is more for this, seriously look it up) will stay the same like pixels origins for example, while others will change to be more close to the duckverse like the origin of the prophecies. Etc.
——————————————______
Mythology AU:
I’m adding aspects of the legend of the three caballeros, cause I love that show and the mythology parts of the show fit perfectly with what my au is about in a way. And aspects of other duckverse canon.
The forms for Jose and Panchito’s ancestors are based on forms from Portugal and Spain or Rome, due to the most possible time period which is the 16th century, during that time Portugal and Spain conquered Brazil and Mexico. Theirs come from curses (this is the reason why Jose and Panchito don’t have creature forms because it never passed on to their families. Maybe some family members would have one but it’s rare.) not blood like Don de Pato, who passed it on to some members of the coot kin. Their forms are: El Coco, El Cuco, etc from Spanish and Portuguese folklore for Gallus Maximus (Panchito’s ancestor) and for Pascoal Papagaio (Jose’s ancestor) Besta-Fera a Portuguese centaur.
The Shellgoose family could have creature forms as well that comes from a curse from passed on through the generations. It could skip generations. (There’s also a the possibility that Gladstone could be part shellgoose as well which honestly is a really interesting theory)
Xandra has some knowledge on the possible origins of why the mythicals exist.
People who have creature/true forms are called mythicals
April, May, and June (not the clones) have creature forms, but there’s will be different from each other. But I’m still thinking of what it will be.
————-________——————-
Zelda AU:
Like the Super Paper Ducktales au some things will change others will be removed or added to fit with the duckverse.
The only ones I’ve thought of so far are the Twilight Princess and Ocarina of Time/Majora’s Mask eras. And some characters roles.
Lena is link in twilight princess era and can transform into a shadow wolf.
——————————————
UnderDuck AU:
Humans exist in this au just like in Undertale.
———————————————-
Lost Limbs AU:
Almost everything that happens in Ducktales 17 canon is the same in this au, except for Donald losing his limbs.
Donald feels very insecure about the fact that he lost his limbs. Unlike Della who is more confident about it.
———————————————
Vacuum:
Vacuum’s nickname is Vac or Victor
He’s really good at making crochets
———————————————________________
Xena:
Xena has committed murder before, but it was accidental, and sense then has become deathly afraid of losing control of herself again.
—————————__________
That’s all I have for now

Valyrian creatures
by Shella Longclaw
Everyone knows of Valyria as the home of dragons. However, ancient Valyria had other wonderous creatures. They had the loyal molossus dog, which came in at least black, brown and speckled. Arcadius birds were hunting birds with bronze beaks. The alicanto chickens laid golden eggs. The elders of the Summer Isles refute the bird as being Valyrian in origin. That rather the alicanto chicken came from Sothoryos. If this is true, we might one day see the bird for ourselves.
The colchis bull was the common food for man and large dragons. Leosteus fish were large and favored by Valyrians and several dragons. Ibbenese claimed the Valyrians caught the fish to extinction. Though, the Qartheen states both the Ibbenese and the Valyrian were to blame for it.
The most interesting creature outside of the dragon was the chrysomallos sheep. They supposedly had wings of their own. Their wool colors were the common white, black and the rare gold. Since the doom of Valyria, the gold thread is almost as valuable as dragon eggs. I have only heard of the Iron Bank of Braavos and the palace of Yin having some. It’s rumored some of the Old Blood of Volantis and the governor of Lengi have some chryomallos golden thread fabrics. This has not been confirmed, nor sadly if the sheep indeed had wings. I will continue to search for more information. I entreat maesters and explorers to do likewise.

Here we have the alicanto , one day late but anyways here it is.
This bird is made of gold and it feeds on it too sometimes, the weight of the metal made the alicanto unable to fly, if you follow it you will find riches and treasure but you better be sneaky because the alicanto doesn't like to share.

NAME: Alicanto
RARITY: ★★★★★
THREAT: ★☆☆☆☆ | Alicantos will not attack unless threatened, and their only attacks are defensive ones.
HABITAT: Typically found near mines, these birds are most common in the Pines and Seven Peaks, around the various entrances. If you see an alicanto around, it’s a good sign that a mine entrance is near… whether there’s supposed to be one in the area or not.
DESCRIPTION: Alicantos are large birds, typically golden or silvery in color and roughly the size of a large quail or turkey. The exact coloring is dependent on location, as it reflects what they eat. An alicanto that lives near a silver mine will have silvery colored feathers, while one near a gold mine will be more golden. Their wings are bright and metallic, typically the same color as the feathers of their body but often speckled with other metals as well. Their eyes, usually emerald green or ruby red, emit strange glowing lights. Often in the darkness of the mines, their eyes are the only part of them that is visible. When in the sunlight, they appear so luminous they cast no shadow. Because of their diet, alicantos are often sought after by greedy humans hoping to follow them to their food source, or attacked by hunters hoping to make a quick buck off their feathers and eyes.
ABILITIES: While not capable of offensive attacks, alicantos have developed ways of protecting themselves from these sorts of predators. Most commonly, if they recognize they’re being followed, they will lead their pursuer to the edge of a cliff and use their large bodies and impressive wingspans to force them over the edge. In Wicked’s Rest, some alicantos have developed “alliances” with other supernatural creatures, instead choosing to lead pursuers into the territory of a hungry creature and allowing them to eliminate the threat. Because alicantos’ diet consists exclusively of precious metals and gems, they possess the ability to “sniff out” these items, so to speak. They know precisely what mine entrances have the fastest track to an easy meal. They’re also incredibly flexible, able to fit into impossibly small nooks and crannies within the mines they call home.
WEAKNESS: Due to the weight of the material they consume, alicantos are flightless birds. They get around through running on the ground. A well-fed alicanto will move far more slowly than one that hasn’t had a meal in a while, as the metal they eat will slow them down even without flight as part of the equation. Alicantos can be killed by anything that would kill a normal bird.

--Alicanto Sighting--
Alicantos are mythical birds from Chilean mythology that eat gold and silver and incorporate the metals into their feathers, and are said to either lead people to riches, or lead the greedy astray underground. I wanted to try my hand at drawing a metal bird just for the aesthetics, and I really like how this ended up turning out - though I DID have some trouble with the gold veins in the walls.

The Alicanto is a large, bioluminescent bird found in Chile. The Alicanto is described as a large bird that is the size of an eagle with a bioluminescent glow that can either be gold or silver depending on which precious metal it eats. The Alicanto is said to eat gold or silver and sometimes it eats too much that it gets weighed down and cannot fly. Seeing an Alicanto is said to be a sign of good luck and if you see one and follow it without it seeing you, it will lead you to the precious metals you seek however if it sees you it may knock you off a cliff or lead them to a ravine where you will fall to your death. It has been said that if the Alicanto finds someone it likes it will help them finde the gold as long as the person shares their findings with it.
