March 2022
A little conversation in a discord server led to BotW AU idea and spawned the mighty BakuLynel!
A small Hylian lass named Uraraka ends up in a dangerous predicament with the mightiest of monsters in Hyrule, a Golden Lynel. For being rather very intelligent Lynel, Uraraka helps him learn how to speak sign language and soon he learns speak Hylian (somewhat) and eventually overtime, the two gradually grow fond of each others presence.

Blood Moon  [IMAGE ID: A scene depicting the rise of the Blood Moon in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.  The moon is deep red and yellow in the background against a watercolor red sky.  Link lies on the ground, wounded, dressed in the Champion’s Tunic and Hylian trousers, stained in his blood. He is carrying a shield with an abstract stag’s head on it and holding a soldier’s broadsword.  Above him looms a Golden Lynel, a centaur-like beast with a lion’s head and curved horns. The Lynel holds a metal shield and a giant, axe-like sword.  Its body-hair is golden with copper stripes.  Its mane, tail and fetlocks are white. It has a few spatters of blood on it.  It is raising a hoof to stomp Link in the chest even as Link holds his sword up to it. Shadows are lengthened from the two figures toward the viewer.  / END IMAGE ID]

Me, at the start of Tears of the Kingdom, young, bright-eyed, full of hubris and naivete: I'm the fucking Hero of the Wild. I eat golden lynels for breakfast. You think a bunch of bokoblins can stop me?
Me: a few minutes later, older, wiser, staring at the game over screen: Okay, new plan. Let's avoid the bokoblins.

Hey Pinky! I love your writing and got a funny idea for you. This is my first, so please spare with me.
Imagine a Reader which comes from a Hyrule without Lynels but horses, speaking of Twilight, Four, Time and I don't know if Warriors had Lynels.
So Reader just got into a Hyrule with Lynels and is able to tame one! So they ride on the Lynel until they see their Link and call out to him.
Reader: "Hey Link, look at the strange horse I found!"
The Links looked towards the Lynel and Reader sitting on it. The Link in question is panicking.
How in Hylia's name is Reader able to mount the king of monsters!
The Link tries to get close to Reader to get them down from there, but the Lynel is very protective over its new master and blocks him! So the Chain starts to discuss with each other how do they get Reader the fuck down from the beast. Meanwhile with Wild, he just walks to Reader and asks.
Wild: "How are you able to ride a Lynel!? I tried, it my whole life!!"
Reader: "Oh, it's not that hard let me show you!"
Reader jumps down and walks towards ANOTHER Lynel which wasn't far away. They walk up to it, give it meat treats, pets until the Lynel lets them mount it. Wild wanted to ask more, but the group called him to them and began to discuss again without noticing Reader's shenanigans behind them. As the group turn around they see Reader with around 10 to 12 Lynels and they were purring like kittens!
Legend: "For how fucking long did we discuss!?"
Nobody could answer this guy and they all agreed that Reader has to come with them as Reader isn't in their Hyrule. At first their Link tries to tell them that they can't keep the Lynels but even the Lynels gave him the puppy eyes! And so Reader had a Lynel army. Reader doesn't fight but after every Hyrule they travelled through they got more and more Lynels and they even protect them from other monsters and is that a golden Lynel? Where the hell did that come from!?!
Reader even shows the Lynel cubs around
WHEN DID THEY REPRODUCE AND WHICH ONES WERE PREGNANT!?!
Reader owning... or starting (?) a lynel farm wasn't something that would have ever occurred to me but now I can't not picture it.
Talk about a quick way to give half of the chain a heart attack. XD

When Link wakes up, it’s not the room of stone and vines that throws him. After the Shrine of Resurrection, dark, empty rooms are depressingly familiar. It’s not the fact that he’s lying on his front, head turned to the side, alone.
It’s the sensation, bone-deep, that something is Wrong.
Memory floods back—at least he didn’t lose that, too. A hand, falling off. The husk of a body, moving. Malice—Gloom?—pouring away from it and towards Zelda. He raises his wings to shield her from the attack with blind instinct, Master Sword darting out to meet the corruption.
But the Gloom eats away the blade and stretches toward the princess behind him. The only barrier is his wings, so it attacks that, too.
First, the smell of burnt feathers mixed with something dead and rotted. Then the pain; feather tips anchored in bone being eaten away at the source. The Gloom reaches his skin, sinks into his bone, and he opens his mouth to scream—can he scream?
Link jerks upright and the memory vanishes; smoke on the wind. His wings give a slight flap, raising off the floor. The flash of dark feathers makes him jerk and he curls his right wing around.
Shades of blue no longer meet his eye, but something dark, held in place with gold. They aren’t feathers—too artificial. The wing bends, but when Link brushes tentative fingers over the new wing, the feathers don’t bend as easily. The whole thing is covered in golden metal holding it together. He can’t see how it attaches to his back, but geometric lines curl over his shoulder onto his chest.
He—
His wings—
“Ah, Link. Finally, you wake.” The wing glows and Link stumbles to his feet, eyes scanning the darkness. There’s still no one here, but that’s normal, too.
“I’ve heard a great deal about you from Zelda.”
The princess is safe. That, at least, is a small consolation.
“Your wounds were severe. I am relieved to see you escape death.”
His wing, what about his wing? Everything aches; deeper than his bones. It’s like a Hinox stomped across the top of him, then threw him to a lynel for good measure. Did Mipha’s Grace save him? The gift faded along with her spirit, but how else is he alive? Does he want to be alive?
If even this isn’t enough for the Goddess, what more does he have to give?
The voice continues, “Your wing, however, was beyond saving. I had to replace it, lest the injury endanger you further.”
Link curls the wing around to stare at the false feathers that no longer glow. There’s no further explanation and Link looks around again, eyes catching on the Master Sword. Or—what’s left of it.
He takes a step and freezes. The balance is all off. He’s suddenly unmoored from the ground, tilting slightly. He shuffles his wings; the fake one feels like the old one, except for that pervading sense of Wrong, just enough to trip him up. He takes another step.
Link throws his arms out, even though he’s barely moved. It’s wrong. He stretches his wings out as far as he can, leaning from one side to the other as he feels out the balance. The new wing is heavier than the old, for all it responds the same.
Pulling them back in, he can’t help but curl into himself. Will he be able to fly again? If he can’t, what happens after this journey when he joins the Chain again? Link refuses to consider an if, firmly settling on a when.
If he can’t fly, he’s a burden, and burdens aren’t heroes.

So, here's a scene inspired by what happened that one time I almost died in Akkala Citadel:
"We have to get down as fast as we can. Staying up here in the middle of a thunderstorm is a death wish!" Wild shouts over the raging storm, already pulling out the few electric elixir he has. "Even if we shed our armor there's too much metal up here to attract lightning. Hey Time and Wars, take this now! The rest of you share the rest, no I'll be fine, we have to leave- Watch out!"
Before he can finish, lightening strikes across the ruins, a violent flash of light and explosion shaking the ground so much Wild nearly dropped the vial he's passing to Time.
"Alright let's don't waste more time," Time says as he downs the tingling elixir, grimacing, "what kind of monsters usually camps near here?"
"Thank Hylia at least that gloom spawn is gone for good," Wild replies as he peers over the cliff side, then suddenly paled at three brightly glowing yellow spark swaying around the stone steps. "When did that gleeok moved here!"
Sure enough, the chain watch in shock as the next lightening illuminates the huge winged dragon practically blocking their only way down.
"Oh you gotta be kidding me," Legends groans, "a gleeok in the open? Wild your Hyrule sucks!"
"Well, this is not their normal behavior. We have to be careful, I have a feeling the way down will be a lot harder than the usual few 'blins."
Another lightening strike down near them, and Time flinched with everyone one at the close proximity. "Any idea how we can pass that gleeok easier?"
"Be careful, cub," said Twilight, "anything else that we should know?"
"Leave it to me, shouldn't be a problem a few arrows can't fix." Wild said, a lynel bow materializing in his hands. "As soon as it roars, you guys start running."
"There is a monster den near the bottom," Wild grimaced, "usually they won't come out wandering, but seeing that gleeok flapping around below, I can't say for sure." Switching the skull helm of his barbarian armor for an intricate golden helm, Wild took a running start towards the cliff. "Oh and look out for the trees and rocks down there!"
"The what? What do you mean!" the veteran demands, but the champion's reply is drowned out by the storm.
"Trees and rocks? Maybe they could loosen and fall down?" Four ask with doubt.
"How do I know?" Legend scowls, "knowing his world they'll probably try to kill us."
"Keep it down lads, we need to start descending as soon as Wild get the attention of the gleeok." A loud explosion came from below followed by a deafening roar, and Time sighs. "Alright, that's our cue. Warriors and I will take point, Twilight and Sky guard the rear. Let's go."

Breath of the Wild - oneshot
Another oneshot cross-posted from ao3 :) I love botw so so much, it holds a special place in my heart as one of my favorite games (I played it daily for more then two years straight, I was obsessed), and this was my little way of capturing some of my love for it.
Ao3 link
————————————————————
“Link, where are we going? You can’t keep me in the dark forever,” Zelda’s voice asked, trusting, but likely tired of the fact that she hadn’t been able to see for the past almost-hour.
Link smiled at the huff in her voice, before remembering she couldn’t see it due to the fact that her eyes were closed. She’d been wearing a loose blindfold on the trip here, but he trusted her enough not to peek now that they were close. In fact...
He gave her arm a light tap, and pulled her to a stop, looking out at where he’d brought her.
“Well, why don’t you see for yourself?” he asked, feeling his smile grow, “we’re here.”
Zelda opened her eyes, blinking a little to adjust, then let out a surprised oh!
Link had brought her to the shores of Lanayru Bay, the two of them standing only a few paces from the water. Waves lapped at the shore, wind softly whistling through the rocks, and the sky was perfectly clear above their heads, stars dazzlingly bright. It was the picture of calm, and Zelda looked around at the small beach, watching a crab scuttle by, admiring the stars, turning backwards to watch the fireflies in the grass behind them.
Link watched her with a smile, for once not too concerned about their surroundings.
He’d snuck over early that morning to clear out any and all monsters that might’ve returned since the last time he’d been here, endless lizalfos scattering the hills and lurking in the water. And while he still sported several dark colored bruises from the lynel that had been around as well, it had been completely worth it to see the look now on Zelda’s face.
Her smiles were always much too few and far between.
Zelda slipped off her shoes and toed closer to the water, and Link followed her, watching the way the breeze blew her golden hair.
“It’s beautiful out here Link, but I must ask... why this spot?” she questioned, and Link hummed.
“Do you remember when we were talking about what you could see while you were holding back the Calamity?” he asked quietly, and Zelda nodded, face falling just a little at the reminder of Ganon. “You... mentioned this was one of the places you wanted to visit sometime.” Link scratched his neck a little self-consciously as he spoke, but Zelda nodded, and he continued. “And when we were in Hateno, Purah told me the stars would be special tonight. I thought since we were already in Kakariko, it was a good time to come out here.”
“Oh the Loft meteor shower, I’d forgotten!” Zelda gasped, excitement shining in her eyes. “I suppose we’re right around it’s peak, aren’t we?”
Link tilted his head in a confused way at her, and Zelda smiled, wide and bright.
“A meteor shower Link, that’s what Purah meant. Oh this is wonderful, we’ll get a great view of it out here!”
Zelda hopped back out of the water, grabbing her shoes but not putting them on as she walked up into the grass and towards the hills.
“Come on, let’s find a good spot to watch!”
Link blinked, then quickly followed after her with a chuckle, jogging a little to catch up with her strides. Zelda soon found a spot she was happy with, and settled down onto the grass, eyes sparkling as a few streaks of light began to flicker across the sky.
Link settled in next to her, and they watched the stars in contented silence for a while, Zelda making a quiet noise of excitement whenever a particularly bright one streaked by.
As fascinating as the sky was, Link soon found his gaze slipping from the view above him to the girl he sat next to, her green eyes bright with starlight as she watched the meteors fall. She was sitting almost against him, their legs only a few inches apart, and the urge to close the distance and put an arm around her shoulders suddenly hit him like a guardian laser.
...Could he? Was he allowed to do that? Things were certainly different after a hundred years, but could he just do that?
Would she mind?
Mouth suddenly dry as he made up his mind, he swallowed, then inched closer to her, cautiously extending an arm. His fingers had almost touched her shoulder when Zelda suddenly let out a loud gasp, and he jumped at the noise.
Link grabbed at his sword in preparation for trouble, cheeks a bit pink, but he soon realized there was no threat. Zelda was still staring up at the sky, astonishment on her face as an extra-bright streak of light flew by, and Link perked up at the familiar sight. It streaked toward a nearby hillside, and Zelda continued to stare at where it had flown.
“Link, that looked like it hit the ground, I didn’t know— is that a light? Did it really land?” she gasped, and Link grinned at her and extended his hand.
“Why don’t you come see?”
She took it with an excited smile, and they trekked across the hillside, fireflies drifting out of their way. It didn’t take them long to reach the glowing site where the star fragment had landed, and Link kneeled down and picked up the perfectly formed crystal.
Zelda kneeled next to him and watched him hold it out to her, another small oh! escaping her lips at the sight of the glowing stone in his hands. The warm light from the crystal made her eyes sparkle as she looked down at it, her hair lighting up into liquid gold when she leaned closer, and Link found himself staring at her again as the gentle glow almost seemed to increase in proximity to her.
“Link, what is it?” she asked in fascination, pulling him out of his thoughts.
“A star fragment,” he said quietly, offering it out to her with a smile.
Zelda took it with an almost reverent hold, settling back onto her knees and admiring the crystal as she cradled it in her hands. Link felt a tingle go up his fingertips when he handed it over, his hands brushing Zelda’s, and felt warmth run up his arm at the point of contact.
“It’s beautiful,” she whispered, running a hand along one of its grooves. “Where do they come from?”
“I’m not completely sure,” he admitted, leaning back and looking up at the stars. “Somewhere in the sky I guess. There is a story that says they’re made of pure gratitude to Hylia...”
“A bit hard to prove I think,” Zelda hummed, gently turning it in her arms. “I’ll have to ask Purah, perhaps we could run some tests on it. Or perhaps Impa would know, she tends to be knowledgeable about things of this sort—”
Link couldn’t help but smile as Zelda slipped into her theorizing voice, excitedly studying and wondering what the smooth crystal in her hands could be.
Her words, soft but growing louder as she grew more excited, were music to his ears, her accented tones a soothing lilt in the breeze. The sound of it always calmed him, and he loved hearing her speak, even when she raised her voice in annoyance or anger, to a point.
It was the first thing he remembered, the thing that had woken him, guided him all throughout his journey, that had warned him of blood moons and directed his steps. The one scrap of familiarity he’d clung to in a strange world.
He truly could listen to her voice forever.
“Link?”
He met Zelda’s eyes, bright in the glow from the crystal, and tilted his head to indicate he was listening.
“Thank you for showing me this,” she said, voice full of gratitude. A soft look overtook her face as she glanced up at the sky again, and she smiled. “This is wonderful. I... I really needed this, I realize. I’ve barely had a moment to breathe since the Calamity, and everything lately has just been...”
Her voice fell, the smile slipping from her lips.
“It’s been truly... overwhelming,” she whispered, as if afraid to speak louder. “I’m realizing just how much we lost in the past century, and fixing it seems impossible. Not to mention being sealed in the castle for a hundred years...”
She sighed, and Link felt something ache in his chest at the exhaustion in it.
“It’s just left me so... disconnected from everything,” she whispered. “Sometimes I forget what it’s like, being a person and not just a force of light to hold back the darkness. To not have to focus and constantly resist, and feel as if one slip up would doom the world. Doing it for so long, even now that I’m out, sometimes I forget and I feel like I’m still... still in there. With him.”
A shudder ran through her, and Link ignored the old instinct that refused to bridge the gap between princess and knight, and slid closer to her, gently resting a hand on her arm.
Zelda swallowed, and held the crystal in her hands a little tighter.
“I don’t know why I’m telling you all of this,” she whispered, and Link hated how miserable it sounded. “I’m sorry.”
“Zelda, I don’t mind, don’t— don’t apologize,” he said, quick to reassure her. He hesitated, then fully put his arm around her, keeping the hold loose so she could pull away if she wanted.
She didn’t though, and they both relaxed a bit, Link slipping closer.
“I like listening to you Zelda,” he continued, the glow of the crystal dancing between them. “Truly. Even if it’s just your worries. I just... wish I could do more to help you.”
“You help plenty Link,” Zelda replied, looking a bit better. “You brought me out here didn’t you? You knew I’d love seeing the stars tonight, and showed me the bay as well. And don’t think I didn’t notice the distinct lack of monsters around, you’ve done so much for me Link, not just tonight, and I truly appreciate it.”
Her smile returned, though it wasn’t quite as brilliant as before.
“Being out here, and seeing for myself that the fight was worth it, that through our efforts we preserved this,” she said with a wide gesture to the landscape and sky, “it helps remind me of what we’re working towards, and why Hyrule is worth not giving up on.”
She ran a hand along the crystal again, the light shimmering off her face as she looked up at the stars.
“And I can’t thank you enough for that,” Zelda said softly, meeting his eye.
Link’s mouth suddenly felt too dry to respond, but he managed a nod and a smile, and Zelda returned it as she leaned into his hold a bit more. Her head came to rest on his shoulder, and they both looked back up at the stars falling across the sky, leaving streaks like crystal rain in their wakes.
And with them, the star fragment in Zelda’s arms seemed to shine just a bit brighter.

Febuwhump Alt Prompt 9: Lightning Strike (AKA Day 24)
Tags/Warnings: Canon-typical violence, broken bone (implied), character gets used as a lightning rod (electrocution + burns)
Sky will do whatever it takes to make sure Wind, if not both of them, make it out alive. On the other hand, Wind is utterly horrified at the means Sky takes to ensure this.
Read it on AO3!
Charged Protector
Wind let Sky pull him along, terror racing through him at the roaring of both the thunder and what Wild had called a Lynel. He had caught a glimpse of it through the rain; a truly massive and terrifying creature, before they had been- terribly unevenly- split up. His legs and chest burned as he forced himself to keep up with the taller hero, who he could just barely see through the torrential downpour, the brilliant gold of the helmet he wore the most noticeable. When they had stepped out of the portal, Wild immediately instructed them to hand over anything metal, and while the others had, Sky had politely refused, insisting he keep the Master Sword on his person. Wind had watched their brief argument, which ended with Wild backing down and handing Sky the helmet he now wore.
A shot of panic shot through him as he felt his foot slip on the mud-slick ground, with a yelp he went down, feeling Sky stop as his grip slackened. Wind let out a string of curses when he felt white hot pain rocket up from his ankle, subsequently making his panic rise a few notches. Using Sky as an anchor, he hauled himself up, the hero quickly catching on and assisting. Wind hissed when his foot met the ground, nearly buckling underneath him- at the very least it was sprained, but the amount of pain marked it as something more serious.
“It’s either sprained or broken.” As if he could sense Sky’s question, Wind answered, leaning heavily on the Skyloftian. His eyes widened as he realized the sudden absence of the weapon Wild had handed to him, “Sky! I lost my weapon-“ He was cut-off as Sky tugged him sharply to the left, feeling his hair ruffle as a spear sailed past his head. Wind opened his mouth to speak, only to be pulled after Sky again, gritting his teeth as he was forced to run on his ankle, pain shooting up with every step.
Sky skidded to a stop, and Wind, unable to fully stop himself, collided with his back. “I’m sorry for making you run with your ankle, but I needed to get us out of there.” The skyward knight brought his hand to Wind’s shoulder, gently pressing down and forcing the sailor to sit against a rock. He did, ignoring the way the mud soaked into his pants, “We would’ve been Lizalfos food otherwise.” That would explain the spear, then.
Lightning crashed nearby, setting a tree ablaze that was just as quickly put out by the downpour, accompanied by a roar. The two heroes froze, sharing twin looks of horror; the Lynel had found them. Wind tried to get up, but Sky just forced him back down, when he went to snark at the older hero, he stopped as he saw the determined look on Sky’s face- wait, his face? The sudden distinct lack of the helmet made Wind freeze.
Sky held the golden helmet out to him, “Put this on.” His tone left no room for an argument. Shakily, Wind took the helmet, and tugged it onto his head. It slowly dawned on him what exactly this meant; Sky was without any sort of protection from the lightning. He remembers that Wild had said, very clearly, that the lightning would be attracted to any sort of metal object, and the Master Sword was very obviously made of metal.
“What about you? You can’t go out in the storm! You need this, or you’ll get struck, just like Wild said!” Wind felt himself choke on the tears he hadn’t noticed streaming down his face, mixing and mingling with the rainwater. Sky fixed him with a sad look, “It won’t be the first time, but I’m not risking you getting struck.” What? He didn’t have time to ask what Sky meant, as the roar from earlier sounded again, much closer than before. The Skyloftian had taken off towards the hulking figure Wind could just make out in the rain, and he could feel that trickle of feeling utterly useless start up, being unable to do anything as he watched Sky’s figure stop and slowly raise the Blade of Evil’s Bane skyward, crackling electricity dancing along it. Golden Goddesses above, he wasn’t doing what Wind thought he was doing, was he?
Wind snapped his head upward, the pit of terror inside of him growing wider as the storm swirled directly above Sky, becoming darker and darker. It felt like time had slowed as the lightning struck true, causing the sword to glow a blinding blue-white, followed by a deafening crash of thunder that swallowed most of Sky’s pained scream. In the same motion, he watched the knight bring his arm downwards in a swift and violent motion, the Master Sword singing as he did. And with wide eyes tracking the movement, Wind watched the glowing beam shoot out, slicing through the imposing figure of the Lynel. It gave one last roar before disappearing into smoke.
Resolutely ignoring the burning pain, the sailor forced himself up and ran over to Sky, who had collapsed, the Master Sword laying in the mud. Wind dropped to his knees, nearly gagging at the smell of burning flesh, daring to take a peek at the other’s sword arm- an instant regret. He quickly tore his eyes away and scrambled near Sky’s head. With a sigh of relief, he saw his chest rising and falling, and hunched over the hero, feeling his tears sting his eyes. Wind hiccuped, unable to stop himself as the fear and pain finally reached the tipping point. Sobs tore out of his mouth, and he brought his head down to rest on Sky’s chest, ignoring how the helmet dug uncomfortably into his head, sobs of relief joining the mix as he listened to the beating of his heart, drowning out the frantic calls of the other heroes.

Sidlink prompt please! Blood Moon!
warnings: animal death, violence, gore
It had all escalated so quickly.
One moment, they were riding comfortably side by side, enjoying the coolness of the night paired with the starry sky, the next moment they were surrounded by lynels.
Link didn’t even know that they hunted in… packs.
Whenever he had encountered them before, he had fought single individuals. Red-maned, blue-maned… never against one in a colour like this one, whose attacks he desperately tried to deflect with his master sword.
When Link had visited Zora’s Domain as a final preparation for his fight against the Calamity, Sidon had proposed to follow Link to Rito Village - opening up new trade options with the whole of Hyrule was the next big step to nurture Zora’s Domain back to its former glory. Link – stupidly infatuated that he was with the Zoran prince – had not been able to deny the proposition as he himself had to seek out Harth for his help to repair the Great Eagle Bow. A weapon, he was sure he needed during his final fight.
The road so far had been long, but the Titans were finally tamed.
The fights had been vicious, but Link had been able to come out victorious through each and every single one.
With the Titan’s reconquest, more and more villages and cities were able to send out troops aiding the fight and eliminating anything that lay between them and peace. While defeating Ganon was only a task the Hero himself could take over, the troops of the different races did whatever was in their might to aid.
It was a shift that had decimated the numbers of the different monster species’s successfully, but with this decimation also came the monsters’s desperation.
Yes, the attacks had lessened, but their severity had increased.
And now Link and Sidon were confronted with not only one, but three lynels at once.
Another blow hit Link’s sword. The hero slipped and almost lost his footing; the ground underneath him slippery with the blood of one of their horses.
His mare- he couldn’t think about her fate now.
Another clash.
His leg muscles quivered under the strain of keeping the body upright under the force of the attack.
Behind himself he could hear the scream of a dying creature; momentarily distracted Link looked to the side and saw one of the two silver lynels collapse to the floor – a grave mistake.
A sharp blade hit him in the shoulder and incapacitated his left arm – reigning his shield arm useless. The heavy metal of the Hylian shield hit the floor, followed by the spilling of his own life essence.
One step forward, two steps back – everything around him became blurry and unfocused.
A golden shadow moved towards him – the golden lynel - how had he never seen one of this colour before? – and Link clenched his teeth together, awaiting the fatal blow.
A red silhouette moved with a speed between Link and the lynel that even the Hero would have found difficult to replicate; being thrown back onto the spoiled grass in the process.
In a daze, Link watched the spectacle in front of him.
Sidon’s teeth were bared; his usually friendly and kind demeanour had changed into the caricature of an animalistic creature.
Watching Sidon take on the beast was like watching two ancient giants fight – awe-inspiring and terrifying at the same time.
The battle in front of him had no similarities left of the fighting tactics he had learned as a knight and used ever since – it was brute strength against brute strength.
Movement behind him distracted him from the spectacle in front of him – it was one of the collapsed silver lynels. Its side was bleeding heavily – Link guessed that Sidon had pierced one of the beast’s two hearts.
Pushing past the dizziness that overcame him, Link sprang up to his feet and buried his sword with a forceful thrust inside the creature’s torso. The lynel’s sharp claws wrapped around Link’s hand gripping the sword’s hilt, leaving painful claw marks in his skin.
Until-
It collapsed to the ground with nothing more but a dying grunt.
Silence filled the space and after a while, and Link dared to look back and check on Sidon.
The prince was on his knees, clutching his side, the white patterns on his scales darkening with his own blood.
The monster lay motionless in front of the Zora, parts of its torso missing, its bared ribs glistening like a gory piece of art.
Link stood up on unsteady legs and went over to Sidon, gently pulling away the prince’s hand and examining the wound. The Zora’s blood was hot underneath his hand - a stark contrast to the chilly wind blowing around them.
The wound was deep but non-lethal. Link couldn’t believe that they made it out alive.
Slowly, Link’s muscles relaxed. The worst was over.
Link let the relief of victory run through his body until-
Suddenly, Sidon grabbed Link’s arm and held him in a painful clutch.
Before Link was able to ask, Sidon gestured towards the sky behind him, clear fear visible even in the dark.
A sick and heavy feeling spread in Link’s pit of the stomach.
Already knowing what he would see, he turned.
The first rays of crimson light started to paint the surface into a nightmarish image. And with the arrival of the moon, the lynels corpses began to change.
Link knew that they only had fractions of moments to react.
“We need to go – NOW!”
His voice, rarely used, was raspier and more silent than he had intended, but the urgency still came through.
Together, they ran away from the battle scene and towards a cliff.
They looked down the ravine and Link’s heart dropped to his stomach.
He had lost his paraglider in the midst of battle, and while there was a river running underneath, jumping would mean his sure death.
Collecting all his courage, the Hylian made a decision.
He couldn’t let another loved person die. He wouldn’t.
Readying the master sword, he never let go off inside his hand, Link turned to Sidon with a determined gaze.
“Go. I will fend them off and give you some time. I have the protection of the former champions – you don’t.”
Sidon looked at him, unbelieving.
“I am not going to leave you here!”
Link gritted his teeth in stress and frustration.
“There is no other way, we won’t make it otherwise!”
Even with the champion’s protection, Link wasn’t sure he would make it. He didn’t voice the concern.
Sidon gripped the hero’s arm once more. While it was less forceful, it didn’t lose its intensity.
“We will jump.”
“I won’t be able to-“
Sidon silenced Link by placing his free hand on Link’s cheek. It was so big compared to Link’s fine features.
“I know. I will take the impact; my body can handle it.” Sidon’s facial expression became more serious than he had ever seen it before.
Before Link could protest, Sidon asked a question that rendered him silent.
“Do you trust me?”
Link stared into the golden irises in front of him. His throat felt tight with all the anxiety he felt, but –
He nodded.
The lynels started rising once more and after sheathing his sword, he closed his eyes, surrendering to Sidon’s ministrations.
The enraged roar was the last thing he heard before Sidon wrapped his arms around the smaller body and jumped over the edge.

Summary:
What a unique game. The whole concept was super cute and I am surprised the oracle games aren't that popular. There are many aspects inspired by OOT and MM such as the Hand in the toiled and some of the enemies but it definitely takes even more inspo from the 2d games. There's a lot of similarities between this game and the Minish cap! It was super cute and it really felt like they let the developers explore silly ideas. For one, they included both river and ocean Zora which I believe is one of the only games to do so. It also has bonus content if you play its sister game, seasons. The dungeons had a good difficulty to them and the bosses and mini had really cool designs - honestly designs you probably wouldn't see in any other game. There was also a good amount of down time content for when you aren't in the dungeons with really fun scenery and characters. Speaking of, the character designs were super cute and unique since they a different pixel art style! (Before I knew this was inspired by Link's Awakening). I highly recommend this game to anyone with a 3DS (rip you can't get it anymore). It is absolutely worth it. A Zelda fan must!!

Golden
I know there are better fics out there with this same concept, but you know what? I…kinda care…BUT NOT REALLY. I write what I want, when I want to because-
Tumblr media
Anyway-
Tumblr media
It was Time’s turn to gather firewood. Unsurprisingly, Twilight’s Hyrule had plenty of forests and trees and fog.
Time hummed and picked up sticks as he walked aimlessly, his mind buzzing with what he could write in his next letter to Malon. He can talk about the people at Twilight’s home, Ordon. He could also talk about the giant mechanic beasts from Wild’s Hyrule. They had spawned near one the last time around, and Wild hadn’t minded talking about them.
So, that was two things. The third paragraph always went to how much he missed waking up beside her.
That would make a full letter…
There was a crack in the forest he walked through. Something or someone stepped on a branch not even fifteen paces away. Time’s own movements stopped as he waited to hear more footsteps.
He did, and it wasn’t only one set of footsteps. It was an army of them.
A lump caught in his throat. He’d been walking out at least thirty minutes now. Half dilly-dallying, half doing his job. That’s a lie. He was ninety-eight percent in his head and the other two percent looking for firewood. He only had four twigs in his arms…
Time dropped the twigs in his arms and whistled as loud as he could. At the same time, monsters emerge from the cover of the trees. Bokos, Moblins, Lizals. He was heavily outnumbered.
Time unsheathed the Biggoron sword and started swinging.
One, five, twelve. They fell like clockwork, but there were more and more coming in their place. No matter how many he killed, it was like they were respawning.
He got tired quickly. Too quickly for his liking yet, he swung with as much stubbornness as he could muster. Besides, he knew that the boys had to have heard him whistle. They always did.
Time shifted his weight into a desperate spin attack. It cleared only inches. He swung again, this time, he noticed how his blade wielded him and not vice versa. That realization got him another cut to his side.
He grunted, swinging his claymore and killing the bokoblin. However, he was stabbed in his arm. His left arm.
His sword fell out of his grasp. It even surprised him. He was stronger than this.
That was when he heard a howl. Then the screeches of monsters. Then the tearing apart of bones.
The monsters had came out of their daze too soon. They started swinging at Time again. He defended himself with roundhouse kicks and head butts. He couldn’t feel his left arm. Though, on occasion, he’d use his right arm for a punch or to make a monster a shield for him.
Soon, the hoard began to thin out. That was when Time saw the wolf. It wasn’t Wolfie, it was a golden wolf with a single red eye and a scar over his right eye.
Time was stabbed in his thigh. An angered groan escaped his throat as he used that same leg to stomp on another monster.
Time turned around to kill the last monster, a Lynel and met a sword two inches from his face. He wouldn’t be able to dodge it or block it. He would-
The wolf closed its jaws around that monster’s neck. The centaur roared and thrashed around. Time heard the wolf whine while it was attached to the thrashing half-horse.
Time spotted his sword and picked it up with his right hand. With one definitely not graceful diagonal slash, the Lynel’s head came off.
Time dropped his sword as the adrenaline started to wear off. The wolf nudged his injured thigh. Time cursed, his legs giving out and him falling onto the grass.
That was when the wolf howled. It was louder than the one from before. In the distance, he heard another howl. One that was familiar.
So they did hear his whistle?
The wolf laid down next to Time, its head resting on his not injured leg. Time looked down at the wolf’s red eye. He reached down to touch its golden fur, but it growled. Time retracted his hand.
“Who are you?” It was obvious to Time that this was no normal wolf. Maybe it was some light spirit. Maybe it was a person hidden in a dark world form, like Twilight’s Wolfie.
Time traced the scar on the wolf’s face with his eyes. It felt familiar, almost like it would spark deja vu.
The distant howling became louder and soon, a black wolf, followed by three heroes breached the tree’s covering.
Hyrule kneeled at Time’s side, his hand already glowing. “Why did you go out so far?!”
“I could ask the same thing,” the Captain said, his voice embroidered with disappointment. It made Time groan.
“And what happened?” Sky asked, surveying the area.
“Monster hoard was quieter than they usually are, but I friend helped me out,” Time slightly smiled at the golden wolf who was probably asleep right now.
Black pixels caught the periferal of Time’s vision. Where the wolf once stood was Twilight. He had a forced smile. “Well, sorry for not being that wolf.”
Time waved it off, his mind asking him why Twilight was forcing an enotion. “Don’t worry about it! I think that we should keep him!”
Twilight visibly jumped. “Keep…him…?”
“Exactly. You sound like a child,” Warriors brought his hands up and started flapping them like a bird. “Can we keep it?” He mocked Time.
Time laughed and put his uninjured arm on the wolf’s head to pet it. Its red eye opened and it growled. Then, it landed on Twilight and in a flash, the wolf was gone, vanishing into golden power that disapated in the wind.
“Huh,” Time hummed. “Magic wolf. I see.”
“Um…” Sky shuffled on his feet. “Hyrule?”
“Almost done,” Everyone could see the sweat starting to bead on tge Traveler’s forehead.
“I’ll carry the Traveler,” Warriors put his sword back in its sheath. Time hadn’t realized it was out in the first place. That was when he realized that Sky also had his sword out.
“He’ll probably end up passing out from blood loss soon.”
What?
“I can carry him,” Twilight announced.
Time saw a crow sitting in a tree nearby. He fought the words that wanted to come out of his mouth, but he lost.
“Why would a scarecrow win an award?” Time cackled at the start of his own joke. All four of the heroes looked at him like he had a fourth eye.
“He was outstanding in his field!“
“Yeah,” Hyrule said. “Blood loss.”
In truth, he was fine in the head. The boys just let him sleep more if he was delirious enough to tell stupid jokes.
“What are the strongest days of the week?”
“Time, please-“
“Saturday and Sunday. All of the others are weekdays,” Time laughed at the annoyed faces the boys made. At least this meant more sleep.
