2023 Art Purge

Original edition! Ended up having to split the doodles into two parts, I didn’t mean to end up with so many left over but oops - onto the commentary!

Remember crayon Edgar? I drew this one at the same time! Loosely based off Circus Baby but really just more of a general cutesy look - layering with colours is fun :)

Eyes, every year. Two general eyes, and two characters! Bottom left is Souichi, and bottom right is Vivian :) Vivian always gets a spare eye haha

Some concept art for a false backpack I still kinda wanna make - it’d be a prop for a game I made earlier this year, as the prize container! It’s meant to be kind of like a pop-up shop that can fold away fairly small and hold a bunch of small items safely and inconspicuously, though it wouldn’t actually work as a real backpack lol

Some Cherubsona concept art, thinking about their hair and the light rays - I considered having a single asymmetrical hair tuft, I think while I was still on the fence about having asymmetrical wings as well - I’m happy with the final design :)

And some baby angels! Based on my DQIX/AGE headcanons/actual canon lol, took a few tries to get a design I was happy with before settling on the bottom-most one with the fuzzed ears, lolling about haha. Cute!

Also thinking about “Fallen” designs, since my cherubsona is meant to be a fallen angel - or even just biblically accurate angels! Maybe they became more normal-looking after falling haha

Technically these are from later in the year but I was really hoping to have the set up for a silly concept rolling - Ishida wants to play a game! The game would allow each of them to take a turn, with the goal of the game to be to sneak a gift into the other’s bag or pocket when he’s not looking. A cute and silly and fun concept to reverse pick-pocket the other and give a little treat! Totally harmless and not at all strange or weird or with any kind of underlying sinister vibes!

The punchline of course was that since they’re both yanderes that it basically turns into stalking each other, which as featured here, Mitsu is very into, who could have guess lol. The double punchline is that they’re both so aware of/obsessed with each other that they notice each other right away, but play along because it’s obvious that they’re both enjoying it haha It’s yandere enrichment! Ishida would also get a real rush from “hunting” Mitsu, as would Mitsu enjoy being “hunted” - yet more twisted love languages ♥

Eyesssssssss <3 <3 On the left were some quick comparisons between dot/filled-in eyes and eyes with a differentiated pupil and iris, since I’ve been defaulting to dark eyes a lot lately (it’s the Vargas influence lol); and on the right were a bunch of Cure eyes! I think at least partially studied off of some character creators? Lots of eye styles to choose from, which one suits her the best hmm. She has very sparkly eyes

And another sort-of study off a character creator haha, it’s very cute! Not very Cure, though

One of the early ideas that made me want to dig her out of storage was actually an animation idea that was maybe a liiiiiittle ambitious to go about making without her having a fixed design lol - I’ve always been a fan of magical girl transformations that completely glow-blot out the body and then they explode into frills and bows and fluff at the end haha. I would still like to come back to the idea at some point!

Ended up with a good handful of muscle studies, even after the ones I already posted - a lot of the poses ended up silly haha

And a lot of skull/face/neck studies as well, with mixed success :P

Sometimes it’s fun to just doodle around, shapes :) My own original human style feels so constantly in flux with the fanart I like to make and having so many non-human characters haha, probably doesn’t help that I prefer high stylism

Out of general studies and tests - hey I thought Just Desserts already had a sona??? And that she was like the most important and best and all that?? I got curious what my sona might be in the JD universe without being the villain haha, and I came up with a Chocolate-Chip Brioche Bun lad! :D I’ve always had something of an affinity for brioche, also somewhat inspired by Edgeworth’s cravat haha. But would Charm still exist and be wreaking havoc, or would this be the alternate universe Charm equivalent?? ‘Cause they’re definitely not “Charm”

Speaking of Charm tho! She’s holding a tooth lol - something something, candy people mining teeth? Because cavities? I dunno lol, but she’s certainly not all that much bigger than a tooth so that’s some fun scale for you :)

So, I went looking up the translation of AFC Richmond motto, Gradarius Firmus Victoria, because I was thinking of using it in some future fanart. (And also because I’m a Latin Motto Enjoyer™️) Queue me stumbling upon maybe the funniest and most targeted Ted Lasso article I’ve ever seen, detailing the motto's janky latin. Which was then followed up with a second article after the official Ted Lasso Twitter account gave It’s in-universe translation of the motto/ reasoning for the butchered Latin. This is exactly the kind of indulgent nonsense I’m in love with.

Before I get into it, I absolutely recommend you go read the article! It made me laugh, gets delightfully technical about Latin translation and goes into a lot of depth about why the motto just does not work grammatically. but even outside of that it touches on other points such as the classism inherent in sports, latin, and linguistics, albeit briefly. Look, it's a 7 min read and a joy at that, it’s worth the time!

TL;DR: Dear lord, the mottos Latin is so janky. not only are the grammatical cases just strange, but it uses a mix of both masculine and feminine endings (which I admit, I’m embarrassed I didn’t notice till now.) to quote Ed DeHoratius:

“The Latin motto in the end is at best ambiguous and at worst as fictional as the show itself. Gradarius Firmus Victoria is, if correct grammatically, awkward Latin”

The article goes on to give a few possible translations, though they all require editing the original phrase to actually make it work, but ultimately the conclusion DeHoratius comes to is this:

“The strongest meaning is ‘A strong hand / coach guides us to victory’; that has the strength of other Latin mottos that I assume the show is trying to invoke. But that’s not what the Latin says.”

(Ok but side note: the bit that got me was that to modern knowledge, ‘gradarius’ has only ever been used ONCE in classical Latin. Which is just, so funny. Honey… how did you get into this motto??)

However, After this article was written the official Twitter account stated that in 1899, the AFC Richmond owner wanted the club to have a motto and that is should be “slow and steady wins the race.” But After local latin scholars refused to translate the phrase because they thought it was inappropriate for a team called “the greyhounds” he asked his 6 year old daughter to help with the translation.

Which, as an in universe thing? Kinda a funny detail! Seems like something a rich Victorian white guy would do! But that’s not *really* how the actual Latin came about now was it? DeHoratius himself in his article says he’s not sure if the bad translation job or an intentional joke. Which, yeah! Hard to tell! Though to me it does feel like it was an unintentional mistake that was pointed out. Take this all as your reminder to talk to your local linguists and classicists if you want something properly translated into Latin as a dictionary is only gonna get you so far. Frankly, it’s a good idea to get any translation to or from a language you arnt familiar with double checked.

Anyways what meaning will I go with? Personally I’m inclined to go with Ed DeHoratius’s translation, as I feel it more fitting for the shows Themes and Motifs™️

I also happen to know that you have very good headcanons and write equally good stories 😉 No wonder, that I got curious and decided to drop you this little ask about my favourite ship, hehe. My thoughts on your favorite ship? Well, I honestly hadn't even considered it until I saw that lovely art of yours, but here are some thoughts that come to mind at the moment. I did try to sorta organize my thoughts, but not sure I did so well. My apologies for that. Also, a little lengthy, so below the cut...

So I could actually see their relationship starting out as a friendship or a sort of mentor-type relationship. Mel doesn't seem to have the best relationship with her mother, so I could see her really leaning on Grayson not only as someone with more life experience, but also as someone who more aligns with her own beliefs and values than her mom. Grayson is certainly no pushover, but she is considerably more compassionate and empathetic.

Of course, that friendship would eventually bloom into romance. (Not sure how either could possibly resist the other.)

I could see either being the one to finally take it to the next level. Or honestly, it could be neither of them. It could just happen naturally, perhaps without either even realizing it.

Maybe they go on lunch dates initially (as friends or even colleagues depending on if we're talking canon universe or AU). But their conversations always tend to start drifting to more personal subjects. And eventually, it may even lead to a majority of their chats being personal.

They both start to slowly incorporate soft, intimate touches. Like Mel placing those delicate fingers of hers on the backs of Grayson's hands whenever Grayson is feeling weighed down by her work. And Grayson pressing her hand against the small of Mel's back when she guides her through the crowds. Or pulling her chair out for her. (I love to think of Grayson as being very debonair. Such a gentlewoman.)

Then lunches turn into dinners at a fancy restaurant, and those eventually turn into home-cooked dinners at Grayson's (that they cook together!) Next thing you know, they're sharing a bottle of Chardonnay and their true feelings start to bubble to the surface.

I also HC them being big on witty banter. They're both highly intelligent and quick-witted. Lots of flirting, teasing, and just a battle of quips. And really, I think they'd be evenly matched. One of them would have to break eventually, but it changes from day to day.

Gonna throw in a random idea here for... IDK, a prompt, or maybe just how they end up starting to see more of each other. Perhaps the council is suddenly in danger. Maybe a series of death threats are made to the council. So each member ends up being assigned a high-ranking officer to be a bodyguard of sorts. And wouldn't you know it, Mel is the lucky one to have Grayson as her protector. So of course, they end up spending quite a lot of time together. And with time, feelings arise. Plus there could be some thrilling moments in which Mel does actually find herself in danger, where her heroine Grayson has to save/protect her!

I 100% agree with you that, at least in most cases, Mel is very much a power bottom (and rather bratty about it).

Also, I see Grayson primarily as a service top. More than happy to oblige Mel.

I imagine Mel being a bit impatient, but playfully so (goes right along with the whole bratty bottom). She's not mean or nasty by any means. Sort of teasing Grayson for taking her damn sweet time when they are between the sheets. Not that she doesn't enjoy or even expect some foreplay. She just has her limits.

But Grayson would enjoy just playing along. She'd dish whatever smart remark Mel makes right back at her. More of that fun, witty banter dynamic I mentioned earlier.

"Grayson, honey, if I'd wanted nothing more than a massage I'd have brought in a masseuse."

"So sorry darling, I had no idea you had someplace to be on this Saturday evening."

Although I think Grayson could also just simply play nice and indulge her impatient, albeit sweet, Mel. Tame the brat with sweet words, agreeing to anything Mel demanded with a whispered, "Of course, love." Or "Yes, darling." Following each up with a tender kiss or a gentle touch.

Okay, so maybe this one is a little random, but seeing how much Mel likes to paint, I could totally see her insisting that she paint a nude portrait of Grayson. It would probably take some convincing. Not that Grayson is shy, but more so that she is a bit modest. But with enough of Mel's smooth sweet talk and flattery (commenting on how gorgeous Grayson is) I think Grayson would cave.

Also, in regards to the power bottom Grayson request in my queue; that poor thing has been sitting there for months. I've been too distracted by other things and then I had some trouble deciding how I wanted to implement it. However, it is with my beta right now, so hopefully it will be posted soon!

Hi! I actually am wondering about trying watercolors for the first time but feel a little anxious haha.. how you go about drawing on the paper with confidence? Like, watercolor paper isn’t exactly cheap. I think I got the cheapest one avaible from Canson but still the anxiety is real… do you pick very light pencils like 2B so you can sketch veryyy lightly, or before sketching on the paper itself you do a planning sketch in another paper?

Im asking this cos I really love your art and it’s so cool that it’s mostly traditional! And the way you draw Tails is too adorable and consistent while being in your style, it always feels like you have confidence when you draw him.

all in all?i have the same anxiety as you. but i've confidense that i can make something good sometimes, but not that i will get it right every time. So i keep trying, but heres some stuff that helped

a warning though, i keep going on and on in this reply and can get pretty negative at times

my watercolor paper i use costs 2 dollars and has 20 sheets so that's 10 cents per sheet. which i feel helps with my anxiety... it's the canson multimedia block too, 140 msg .....

watercolor sketchbooks i'd find online were around 80 or more BRL, and then 20 BRL shipping.... that's 20 USD in total...

but a block of this plus getting it binded costs me 4 USD.....so i think that one [price] helps alot lol.....

as for the confidence.....

i've had enough time to do quite a bit of trad art, specifically ink and watercolors so im USED to the material and now quite as scared to "mess up" as when i first started it.... [hint, i still am] this is one example of a sketch page, they vary in size, and how "done" they are... i dont really worry too much about maintaining a rule of "everything in this sketchbook must be fully rendered " bc it ended up stunting my creativity

i did try the "sketch it onto a sketchbook and then pass it to watercolor paper" approach and tbh...? not really my thing... i've found that to me the first sketch always end up being looser than when i pass it on... i'm always more focused on getting the flow, composition and pose there than i am getting the right details or right lines or colors etc....

like this one, im more happy with the sketch, it's mroe dynamic, mroe fun

i DO sketch stuff on cheaper paper first when it's for trad art commissions though, just bc there i HAVE to make sure the client is getting what they asked

and i do use 2b pencils AND a "soft lead" mechanical pencil, btu tbh it's mroe bc of the feeling of it on paper than for the look of it...

here for example you can see the circle i used to have a basis on where tails would be.. i didnt erase it as i continued painting bc tbh it was just the sketch. i ended up liking it tho

i actually got quite MAD and angry at myself recently bc i noticed how much my sketches were looser in the sketchbooks when i did try the passing onto watercolors thing and i had a full on discussion with a fellow artist about daring myself to be bolder in the future, it has been working well

I sadly have to say though, that figuring out how to build confidense is more of a personal journey, and i cant claim that what worked for me [trusting my first sketch] would work for you.....

It's time, practice, trial and error....

OH, one thing though that DID help me. is:

-There's no art wasted, even if it doesnt turn out how you wanted it, you still learned something.

-Makins these personal art/fanarts isn't some school paper you have to hand it to be graded and then not get it back. You can re-do a piece as many times as you want until you get it right! I have quite a queue of pieces i plan on re-doing in the future bc i didnt like the first ones i did. im not perfect on confidence and i get scared of fully committing to drawings alot, many of them are pale not for choice bc bc i got scared of making my art too saturated and overworking it

i am about to get negative now so stop reading if you dont want to see that.

HERE NOW i's a alot of pieces i made that im unsatisfied with and plan on re-doing one day: too dull, simply way too watered

which led me to make THIS piece and do better colors

i hATE the way i did the lineart here. it's boring, the anatomies are wonky. it's a good concept but i didnt excecuted it as well as i wanted. but this piece has made me just go and try inking MORE so i could make up for it

which lead to this piece here eventually

This one here.... the colors look so muddy it just makes me SAD, bc i had been so scared to use high saturation that i went with the muddier colors by choice, if i had allowed myself to experiment i wonder how happier i'd be about it

which led me to make THIS piece with softer in value and more saturated colors

The colors and blending of this one are too soft and not bold enough for what i had envisioned it, i made it as fanart of a friends fic and it made me feel like i failed my friend and insulted her fic when i finished this. I dont think the piece looks bAD, mind you. i know it looks cute. and good even. But i had such high hopes for it.

which led me to make this one

THIS ONE OH MY GOD HOW I HATE IT. sonics expression is SO creepy hes like a horror movie weirdo , honestly not my best work when it comes to anatomy

so i've been doodlin sonic now and then as practice so that i could make this one eventually

The perspective on knuckles could be better and the characters look out of place on this scene, the background is ok

but in this piece here i was able to get a better harmony between colors, background and whatever sparse linework i threw in

Theres so many more haha but i'll stop for now....

Dont get me wrong i dont ACTUALLY think those pieces are HORRIBLE horrible,,,, i see the flaws in them yes, but theres always something i like too, and i know people like them, and that people wont throw away a whole piece over one small detail that in the end doesnt even affect the overall thing....

i've just been getting into the headspace of "ok. at least this one is done, onto the next"

plus the whole thing i told you of realising my first sketches are looser....

sorry im not too good at talking about this and my points arent very clear, i dont think this is going to be quite the help you expected it to be because the truth is that the struggle with your art is soemthign that doesnt go away no matter what skill you have...

at times to me it feels more like a mentality practice than skill, reasurring myself that it's ok to get it wrong and try again, etc etc....

i used to go to therapy and one of the things we talked about was my perfectionism, how i used to be so scared to mess up a piece. that i wouldnt even start, and wouldnt draw for months. this has been going for years now and hey i've gotten better.

but..... yeah im in the same boat as you.... except mine is no longer just about the paper quality!

Sorry this got so personal now, i hope that this hasnt killed your hopes on getting better at the anxiety. it does get way better haha... trying to force your brain to not judge yourself so harshly is half the battle in my opinion, the practice of drawing is the other half....

when going on vacation, chiyo prefers going to areas with history. vacations are for relaxing, and learning new things about this and that is very much relaxing to chiyo bc she's a lil nerd <3

chiyo will 100% come home and info dump whatever she learned, btw. she'll have pictures and even lil notes to accompany them!

tbh, if there's ever a topic you wanna know more about but don't have the energy to do the research yourself, you can probably just ask chiyo to do it for you :' ) she loves to go down rabbit holes and then present said rabbit hole to a willing party

i might've mentioned this before? but prior to becoming a mangaka, chiyo would self-publish lil oneshots online, sell fanart, take commissions, attend conventions as an artist, etc. she finished up her schooling with a two-year degree in general studies, and worked a few different jobs until a company finally picked her up. the work that got serialized was a oneshot originally -- like most manga!

chiyo really enjoys horror movies, but will she scream her head off? yes ofc! but don't trust her if she asks you to watch a horror movie she's already seen bc there's a 100% chance that she's gonna try to startle you during a really tense moment

chiyo's room is definitely the epitome of " controlled chaos. I put everything in a queue with 2 post/day atm. Might go back to 1 a day, but we'll see If I've rebloged a post from the depths of your blog or seem to return to your blog, please know that- 1. I'm just scrolling through eventual Damon Albarn tag. I don't read any posts and will scroll past any personal posts. My intention is to find pictures not currently circulating on Tumblr, not to creep on someones old posts. 2. I also shuffle my queue to not post 30 things in a row from the same person. if this makes you feel uncomfortable, pls contact me and I'll go through my queue or whatever. I've been on this hellsite for well over 10 years and I don't love my digital footprint so I get it. Just having some hyperfix on DA, including Blur and Gorillaz. Kinda diminishing so who knows how long this blog will be active. I have queued a lot queued so at least it will keep going for a bit. I might post things I find elsewhere on the internet or just general thoughts, but I try to keep it to mostly reblogs. Hello, Tumblrians! Because I’m trying to make sure practically all of my Goodreads finished books are covered here, there’s an overwhelmingly high number of reviews that are going to be published this week! Sorry :(! BUT!!! At least my reading queue is being cleared up for the end of the month (which you can attribute to me just wanting to be orderly but is actually related to the release of The Wicked Bargain by Gabe Cole Novoa)(who was?? In the acknowledgements for this book actually?? Are the authors friends or something?). Broskis I was so excited for Cemetery Boys because I’ve been wanting to read it for YEARS!!! It was one of the first queer books I ever heard about, actually! And it will always have a special place in my heart because it’s the first time I’ve read a book with a trans protagonist. (I’m non-binary and also genderfluid, because a few times the trans male label could apply, and I’ve identified as some flavor of lesbian for a while although I’ve just been using the label “queer” for a while. Fits my gender better.) 

Also HOLY SHIT i just realized!! This is my tenth Tumblr Review guys :D!! Wow! Very happy to be writing one about a book I adored! To celebrate this milestone, take some art I made of these two! It’s singlehandedly the reason why this review took so long to put up lmao, it’s almost midnight where I am but it’s probably not Saturday anymore for a lot of people on Tumblr up at this hour and with similar time zones as I. Gonna be honest, I was considering redrawing when Julian asked Yadriel if he could kiss him (in Spanish!!!)(read the book and you’d know why that’s a big deal lmao), but I watched an Instagram reel and featured in it was a very realistic piece of fanart of when the two were kinda just lovingly spending time sitting ontop the car and looking at the sunset by the side of the road! Inspiration just struck.

I’m hoping to post art on a more consistent basis in here, hopefully y’all enjoy the piece in this review! (Perhaps I’ll do this with every 10 book milestone?) (if I don’t like the book and don’t want to make fanart maybe I’ll just draw a different one or my OCs lol)

Anyhow! I absolutely ate up, devoured even, cried on, and threw up this book when I read it. Whilst some might not be a fan of the short time frame the romance happens in (it..took some adjusting for me to be honest), I was still absolutely emotional over Yadriel and Julian oh my goodness. They’re so sweet with each other!! WAUGH. I was anxious for a devastating ending most of the time, but wherever my heart was broken, it was healed with some of Yadriel’s brujx magic by the time I’d finished reading. (So corny I know but SHUSH.) The “last day” chapter/scene in the book also just radiated comfort haha. (Perhaps I’m biased though, as I tend to feel in colors and around this point I had enough of an emotional attachment to form the “nostalgic nighttime blues with a light yellow and orange-yellow haze feeling. Which I shall always associate with the smell of a well-kept hotel room now, thanks to the location I finished this book.) Julian opening up eventually, and his immediate acceptance of Yadriel was also very sweet. They were overall very sweet, even if the circumstances they were in meant that they made very “hormonal teen” decisions at times. It didn’t feel like a product of bad writing lmao I’m sure that was intentional.

Yadriel was also a spectacular example of authentic transmasculine representation. I was delighted to read a sentence that mentioned a binder, resonated with his experiences of gender dysphoria, and although he faces a lot of struggle to be seen as who he is within his family, that was handled with care. I also loved the different Latine cultures present in the families in the book, there were different touches added to Dia De Muertos and it brought a very home-y feel to some of the atmosphere of the book. (Saying “some of” because the other parts of the story are horror of course sjkskjbdfbk) On all fronts, the representation was great :).

Also, if the story seems interesting to you based on the premise, but you don’t really enjoy horror, keep in mind that the stuff in this is pretty tame! There’s a few gnarly details, like (slight spoilers) an attempted human sacrifice towards the end, and of course some of the spirits turning “maligno”(conjugent for “malignant”, they become corrupted before they’re forced to leave the surface world, your standard horror elements stuff ensues), but that’s about it. While spirits/ghosts and the existence of what’s technically witches in this realm means that it belongs under the horror category, at least I as a reader thought it fit more just under the paranormal genre. The only other horror book I’ve read on here is The Witchery, and I’d say it’s a teensy bit more spooky than that on the scale? All I have to say for that.

Anyhow! Last thing I feel like talking about is that I liked how the theme of death was handled throughout the book? In several ways, our characters were trying to find closure and there’s multiple very realistic depictions of grief. I’m kinda running out of rambling juice here, so I don’t have much else to add, but it was interesting to see the different facets of loss(I would elaborate on all of them, but I don’t feel like typing up a Spoiler Segment here and it would probably contain mild to moderate spoilers if I did that without warning). It made this a melancholy read, in my opinion.

Overall! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐/5 stars, no doubt :D! (the third book on here to be given a 5-star rating, there to join When The Angels Left The Old Country by Sacha Lamb and The Lesbiana’s Guide To Catholic School by Sonora Reyes!)

i was rereading some of my old posts on a whim and now I’ve made myself deeply emotional about Gansey and his friends because like... I said once how in TRB, Ronan and Adam have this interesting dynamic where they still don’t seem to actually like each other very much, yet they understand each other much better than Gansey appears to understand either of them. I think there’s mutual recognition that they are each, at their cores, uncompromising; mutual comprehension that they can’t be shaped into anything other than what they are or (in Adam’s case especially) what they want to be. 

Adam and Ronan don’t appear to like each other much in TRB, but they respect each other – and Gansey respects them no less! He cares deeply about his friends, he trusts them more than anyone else, and he feels the least himself when he’s forced away from them. Gansey’s respect and love for his friends is undeniable.

Yet, he’s perpetually running headlong into their uncompromising natures. 

And it’s not that he’s unaware of who his friends are, it’s not that he’s consciously trying to force them to be what they’re not. No, what’s kicking me in the heart today is that “fixing things,” smoothing things over and making it all look okay, is how Gansey was taught to care. 

Gansey’s first instinct, always, whether it’s his own actions or someone else’s life, is to reduce the amount of fuss and commotion. This is his anxiety and his masking, this is how his WASP family operates. “Fixing” the problem without actually addressing the cause, hiding the issue, smoothing things over for polite company, minimizing the impact, that IS the way the Ganseys show that they care. WASPs are deeply subtextual in how they express a lot of feelings (source: knowing my WASP-adjacent mom for my whole life and still learning how to correctly interpret her many layers of subtext). Care is often implicit, communicated quietly through actions but rarely expressed outright. 

The difference between Gansey and his family is that his family fundamentally doesn’t understand him, making their care for him very abstract at best and disconnected from the reality of who he is, while Gansey’s love for his friends is deep and true. When Gansey tries to “fix” Adam or Ronan’s lives, he’s not being his parents in intention – he’s NOT merely trying to sweep the truth under the rug to hide something difficult from polite company. He is truly, genuinely, attempting to help, and he means well. But he still emulates his parents’ in actions, because it’s what he knows how to do. 

And that’s where the critical miscommunication lies: Because Gansey’s friends can’t see gestures that so run counter to who they are as expressions of care, and Gansey can’t (yet) recognize that he’s copying the same behaviors that have made him feel so stifled in his own family. And thus his confusion and anxiety, as his gestures are rejected, is genuine as well.

there’s almost no way that Stief would leak major top-shelf plot spoilers on social media because (1) that’s unhinged (2) Scholastic’s publicity team WILL hunt her for sport over it if she did, but the implications of Adam asking Ronan if he’s the Lace NOT being a major plot spoiler are still absolutely BANANAS. like good golly what’s the wild ride we’re gonna go on just to get to the point where Adam feels like he has to ask that and it’s NOT EVEN the cornerstone of the plot???? cannot wait to absolutely lose it reading this book.

The crew of the revenge cares about each other so so much. Calico Jack kills Karl and everyone freezes in their tracks. Their faces all fall. They're devastated for Buttons. One of them presumably runs to get Stede, unless he noticed the cease in activity and ran out to see for himself what happened. Stede sees Buttons holding Karl and banishes Jack from his ship immediately, no hesitation. Stede can be as uncomfortable as Jack wants to make him. The man pissed on his shoes and he still thought that it was worth it to have him around if it made Ed happy! But as soon as he sees what Jack has done to his crew he's done. Get off my ship he says! Now!

Lancaster week 2022

From  September 17, 2022, through September 23, 2022.

The rules. Alright, I want to make sure that they are clear. This is a fan week is for Lancaster (Ruby Rose & Jaune Arc). Which takes place in September. If you have early submissions, you can submit them to the blog, and they will be in the queue until September. I will not be accepting any submissions that are not Lancaster. No ploy ship fics or art will be accepted. If they aren’t the main focus, I know it sounds odd? But trust me, I got a few direct submissions last year that were not Lancaster at all, and I have to be thorough and transparent.

 Any and all submissions are accepted as long as those Jaune and ruby are the main characters. That includes fanfiction, fanart, fan comics, podfics, and more. If it’s those two, I want to see what you can come up with. Finally, try to follow the days prompt; there is some wiggle room for the submission. This is about celebrating this ship! Having fun and really reminding ourselves why we like these two dorks together! Remember to use the tag #Lancasterweek and add in @lancasterweek so I can reblog your work. You know Tumblr, the website is held together with glue sticks and bubblegum. So try to spread this post and make sure that all the shipper finds out and want to join. Remember the latest submission allowed is until October 8th.

This year because of everything that happened to me personally and as well to hopefully get more submissions than last year? I made a prompt list with alternative prompts; if you don’t like the initial one, you don’t have to do both. It’s an alternative options if you don’t like them.

Day 1.   Distance/ College AU: with distance, it’s either emotional, physical, or anything, everything in between the two. College is exactly how it sounds and how you write or draw this up to you.

Day 2.   Illusions/ Crossover Au: when I say illusion, I mean whether it’s a mirage, a place where you see illusions of things that aren’t real. A crossover with your favorite fandom outside RWBY.

Day 3.   Memories/ Telepathy AU: whether it’s memories of better times or reflecting on the past bittersweetly. Or thinking back on the memories of the past and realizing you could have done better or been better. Telepathy AU is almost self-explanatory 1; of the characters, maybe Ruby, maybe Jaune, has telepathy, and now I have to deal with it.

Day 4.   Mystery/ Deserted Island AU: mystery, whether it’s something they need to solve at each other, or anything you can come up with, I’m not gonna try to box in your creative. With royalty AU again, go ham. The Sky is the limit; just make sure that it’s about Lancaster. Considering where volume 9 is taking place on a strange island slash dimension ?

Day 5.   Secrets/ Switched Au: whether secrets from one another or secrets from the world. Switched au is that everything is mostly the same except everyone, but Weiss is now a Faunus of some kind.

Day 6.   Strength/ Blind Date AU: whether in the strength of character, the strength of minder, strength of will or strength of heart, or physical strength, we want to be technical. Blind AU sounds as easy as it stated because it is someone sets one of the two dorks up on a blind date, hilarity can ensue, sweetness can ensue; it is up to you

Day 7.   Truth/ Body Swap AU: the truth about a big secret truth about themselves or just a truth that they feel is true about themselves. Sky’s the limit on what you wanna do. Body swap au is as obvious as it sounds; what you do with that is up to you!

What’s This Blog About?

Basically this started as a realization that I was saving way too many BSD-related links on the app I use to keep track of all my obsessions, reactions to things, etc. So I figured a Tumblr blog would be the solution, and now this is my archive of things I would usually just save as a link elsewhere (plus some thoughts of my own to spice it up a bit.)

Navigation Stuff

Fandom Tags: #bsd, #bungo stray dogs, #bungou stray dogs (will be updated if I switch/tack on other fandoms)

Character Tags: In general, I just use [acronym] [character’s most used name]. Like #bsd atsushi. Sometimes, I use two like #bsd edgar allan poe/#bsd poe or #bsd gogol/#bsd nikolai gogol but only when I’m not sure what their most used name is. There’s also #bsd characters (for unnamed characters or just incorrect quotes) this one (when there are too many characters to tag) and group specific tags (armed detective agency, port mafia, bsd guild, soukoku, shin soukoku, there’s no naming consistency)

Meta Tags: #bsd musings (for literally anything that contemplates bsd) #bsd theories (for theories, specifically) #character analysis (metas about characters)

Specific Media Tags: #bsd official art, #manga things (anything that features the manga panels) #anime things (anything that features anime screenshots and the like) #light novel things (anything referring to the light novels) #stage play things (anything featuring stuff about the stage play) #bsd fanart, #bsd edits, #bsd gifset, #bsd fanfic. Of course, there will also be tags for the light novels specifically, which is usually just bsd [light novel name], and wan.

Why am I writing this like a three-point thesis...ah never mind.

And that’s how I sort out my obsession with this stupid show. If any other piece of media seizes me by the throat like BSD has, then I’ll probably start posting about it here (but my fixations are usually short lived and thus onto main sideblog they go).

I tend to...ramble in the tags a lot, which I mildly feel bad for (there’s a reason why I generally just privately save things). So if you’re seeing this because I spam reblogged you and you wondered who in the world was crowding your notifs with tags, I’m sorry. I also try not to crawl out of the tags too much, though, just do so if they don’t fit my rambles (oops....)

I try and lessen the blow by slapping most everything on the queue (but I don’t tag what I queue, let there be CHAOS), so maybe that helps a bit?

That said, I DO love tags, so feel free to spam reblog whatever you want from here and comment-tag as much as you want...I LOVE seeing people say stuff (whether I agree or not, this IS just for fun). I don’t usually use the comment/reply section or the like button because I don’t actually do anything in my main blog (I just work off sideblogs, heh), so I’ll likely abuse the reblog button a lot or just hope my vibes of appreciation are psychically felt.

OH RIGHT!! Asks are always open. Feel free to scream at me about literally anything, ask anything, or share cool links and shiny stuff I can reblog/save (the last one especially because I am a magpie of fandom things). I generally have to be asked things to talk about them, so I do warn you that the right ask can really get me going.
