This isn't an "official" announcement or anything, but I kinda want to share the premise for the project I've been working on. Below the cut, in case you want to wait till it's officially announced.
The game is called "What They Leave Behind," and it's an introspective horror-adjacent mystery anthology game.
You play as private investigator Antoine Reiner (previously seen in the 80s in the Slasher short story that hasn't gotten a follow up yet), a detective with a special gift- the ability to investigate the final impressions left before a person's death. You enter a snapshot of their thoughts prior to their untimely end and explore dreamlike environments to answer questions about their passing and bring closure to their families.
Each case is a miniature mystery which all branch out far from the "whodunnit" formula. The victims are the sole focus, fully fleshed out characters whose inner lives you need to understand in order to figure out what went wrong.
The style is obviously more similar to my previous games, especially 13 Laurel Road. Walk around, explore trippy locations, find secret paths, and watch as the road behind you becomes barred. It may take several playthroughs to find the answers to all of the questions.
It's been really fun and refreshing to write so far, and it's nice having a small goal rather than a large, incremental goal. Hopefully y'all will be seeing it soon.
