yourusername As many of you know, I spent majority of 2021 and 2022 traveling the world with Mick for formula 1. Because of that, my life was put on hold. While I cherish those days, I lost sight of who I was.
Six months ago, Mick and I amicably decided to take a break. While the decision wasn’t easy, it was what was best for both of us as we both were in transitional points in our lives. During this time, I have traveled the world, for myself, and started to journal what I learned from locals, friends and strangers. Early on into this journey, I realized that my experiences were something that should be shared as I know we all go through times times when we feel lost and unsure of who we are.
‘In Me, I Trust’ is available now and is a collection of my stories, thoughts and advice. I hope you take what you need from it ♡

Tumblr media
Marcus is a self-proclaimed "lover not a fighter". He's known to be very friendly and approachable, with a significant portion of the Formula 2 grid mentioning that he was the driver they got on with best in the paddock during his time there. His results in F2 were mixed, moving teams in 3 successive years, as he sometimes had difficulty getting to grips with the F2 car and tyres, however it’s generally agreed that his midfield championship positions during his F2 tenure aren’t an accurate reflection of his genuine ability and talent. Multiple Ganassi team members (including the boss) have commented on how impressed they are by his raw speed, work ethic, and attitude since his arrival in IndyCar. Marcus himself has already talked about how much more enjoyable the Indy car is to drive and how much fun he’s having now after several years of struggling with the notoriously difficult F2 car. He also appears to be getting on well with his CGR teammates and in particular has talked about how much he likes Marcus Ericsson.
He moved to London in early 2022 after spending several years living near Ferrari’s HQ in Maranello, Italy, and is known to enjoy city nightlife, being a big fan of wine. He’s a major foodie who likes taking photos of good food almost as much as he enjoys complaining about bad food. He is known to be determined to the point of stubbornness, causing himself permanent damage to his knee during a half-marathon due to refusing to stop when he was in pain. He had a low attendance record at school due to focusing on his racing career and moving to Europe at the age of 14, and as such, although he’s not unintelligent he’s known to be somewhat lacking in general knowledge (such as thinking Shakespeare’s first name was Michael). However, he has the characteristically Kiwi dry, sarcastic sense of humor and very much enjoys mutual teasing and banter with his close friends, something that’s often on display in the Screaming Meals podcasts.
Tumblr media
Fanfic Lore
Usually paired with Callum Ilott, or F2 driver Clement Novalak due to their extremely close and physically affectionate friendship - was Clem’s teammate during their karting days, and has said that they talk every day while he’s in the US Likes to tease Callum and wind him up to his face, but often calls him his best mate and praises him when he’s not around. However Callum rarely (if ever) reciprocates the latter, probably due to his intense Britishness Good friends with multiple drivers from various series, including Juan Manuel Correa, Jüri Vips, Guanyu Zhou, Nick Cassidy, Max Fewtrell and Felipe Drugovich Also has a tendency to “adopt” younger drivers and refer to them as “little bro”, including Jak Crawford and Dino Beganovic Has said on several occasions that he doesn’t wear underwear, and also shaves his legs (and possibly elsewhere, having claimed that he is “hairless from the eyebrows down”) Claims he can’t tell the difference between someone being nice to him and someone flirting with him

The experimental all-electric Rolls-Royce 103EX has apparently returned from a successful world tour.
HOW? WHY?
Rolls-Royce Motor Cars... what are you thinking? This design is completely impractical for use on any real life roads. Those low wheel arches would hit the ground on almost every road in the UK!
Come on boys! You nearly persuaded me to order a Ghost when I visited Goodwood in 2021. If you can afford to waste money on a project like this... you must be able to offer me a discount!

Happy birthday to former formula one racing champion Jackie Stewart wo turns 84 today.
Born John Young Stewart in Milton Dunbartonshire in 1939, Jackie, as he became known, attended Hartfield primary school in the nearby town of Dumbarton going on to the local academy in the town.
Jackie experienced learning difficulties owing to undiagnosed dyslexia, and due to the condition not being understood or even widely known about at the time, he was regularly berated and humiliated by teachers and peers alike for being “dumb” and “thick". Stewart was unable to continue his secondary education past the age of 16, and began working in his father’s garage as an apprentice mechanic. He was not actually diagnosed with dyslexia until 1980, when his oldest son Mark was diagnosed with the condition. On learning that dyslexia can be genetically passed on, and seeing very similar symptoms with his son that he had experienced himself as a child, Stewart asked if he could be tested, and was diagnosed with the disorder, by which time he was 41 years old. He has said: “When you’ve got dyslexia and you find something you’re good at, you put more into it than anyone else; you can’t think the way of the clever folk, so you’re always thinking out of the box.“
Jackie began testing race cars in 1961. Showing his skill and raw pace, Stewart quickly worked his way up the ranks before grabbing s drive in the 1964 Formula Three Championship for Tyrell. In his debut race at Snetterton, Jackie pulled out a 25 second lead within two laps and went on to win the race comfortably, 44 seconds in front of his closest rival. Becoming a Formula Three Champion on his debut season, the offers from Formula One came thick and fast. Discussing how he maximised success at every opportunity in the early stages of his career, Jackie delivers thought provoking ideas as an after dinner speaker that are relatable to sporting and business environments alike.
Jackie’s first race in an F1 car was for Lotus in December 1964 in South Africa, by the end of his first season, Stewart had finished his rookie season third in the World Drivers’ Championship, proving his potential as a future World Champion.
1966 triggered Jackie’s lifelong fight for better safety in his sport. Following a crash at the 1966 Belgian Grand Prix, Jackie was left trapped in his overturned BRM soaking in fuel. With no tools to help him, stewards had to wait for other drivers Hill and Bondurant to help after borrowing a spanner from a spectator. From now on, Jackie would tape a spanner to his steering wheel, travel to races with his own doctors whilst his team supplied a medical truck for the benefit of all. A hugely passionate subject for Jackie, driver safety can feature heavily in his talks as a motorsport speaker. The harsh reality of danger in his day makes for a compelling insight into the sport and how far things have come since then.
Stewart became Formula One World Champion in 1969 in a Matra MS80 before going on to win the 1971 and 1973 World Championships for Tyrell. A hugely talented racing driver, Jackie left a legacy of increased in-car safety as well as drastic improvements to the layout and design of tracks, all in the name of limiting risk to drivers.
Jackie's crash helmet was white, with the red, green, blue, white and yellow Stewart Royal Tartan surrounding the top.
In 2021 Jackie set up the charity Race Against Dementia, his wife Helen had been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia, he believes that the application of Formula1’s technology and out of the box thinking could bring about earlier solutions to society coping with dementia. The couple are childhood sweethearts and have been married since 1962. Jackie recently spoke about his friend, Sean Connery, revealing that he had been ravaged with dementia during his final two years of his life.
The 27-time Grand Prix winner remains a regular visitor to the F1 paddock, and also to Goodwood's annual events that commemorate the history of the sport and which give the F1 legend a change to savour once again the thrills of racing onboard one of his period cars.

Supercars May Have Been Sacrificed to Save Cyclists' Lives
Andrew Beckford
Writer / 329 Articles
We've all had a bad day at work, but there are few among us who can say their bad day cost their employer over a million dollars. According to a report from The Daily Mail, a vehicle transporter was on the A20 highway near Farningham, Kent in the U.K. when the trailer containing no less than nine high-dollar supercars turned over. When police arrived, the trailer and several cars were sprawled across the road.
The truck driver, Richard Kilburn only suffered a minor injury but the same can't be said for the vehicles the driver was transporting. Ben Slipper managed to capture the aftermath of the accident on video and posted it to Facebook. From the footage it looks like there was a Lamborghini Aventador, Jaguar F-Type convertible, two Ferrari F430s, an Audi R8, a BMW 318i Sport Plus, an AMG GT Black Series, an Aston Martin DB11, a Nissan GT-R R35, and a Bentley Continental GT that managed to get completely flipped upside down. There is some strong language in the video so be warned.
According to a followup report from The Daily Mail, the supercar carnage was actually the result of Kilburn trying to save lives. Kilburn was transporting the vehicles from Brands Hatch to Goodwood when his truck began to fishtail as he was going down a steep hill with crosswinds. Kilburn saw that he was gaining speed and was heading directly toward a group of cyclists on the road. To avoid hitting the cyclists Kilburn purposely yanked the steering wheel, causing the trailer to jack knife which saved the cyclists but doomed his expensive cargo.
The AMG GT Black Series alone had a starting MSRP of $327,050 back in 2021 and goes for anywhere between $370,000 and as high as $700,000 on the current market. The Daily Mail estimates the value of the supercars to be about £2 million—or a little over $2.5 million. The vehicles may have been property of Everyman Racing Driving Experiences as that is who Kilburn was driving for when the incident occured.
Hopefully the parties involved have a really good insurance policy, otherwise some bank accounts are in for a major brusin'. In the meantime Kilburn is being hailed as a hero for doing what needed to be done despite the massive financial implications to his employer. They may be some amazing vehicles but cars can be replaced, lives can't.
This story was originally published August 25, 2023, and has since been updated with new information surrounding the crash.

Mick's Diary: Bringing Performance to the Track
Hi everyone. Welcome to another chapter of my diary! Plenty has happened since we last spoke. The season is now in full swing, and a lot has been going on. I've done the first test in the W14 which was great. Completing the Pirelli tyre test in Barcelona and getting back in the car was a good feeling, and very special. For me, it was a big step up driving the W14. I know the team are working hard to create a winning car and I have no doubt that they will. I've seen this in the past couple of weeks, how determined the team is and how everyone's got their heads down, focused and how responsive they are to issues and feedback. There have been loads of things that I've learned from the team so far and I really appreciate that. Things that I can take forward in my career.
Tumblr media
It's been a very busy, but good, period in the simulator too. I'm aware that the simulator is never going to be a 100 percent replication of real life. You have certain factors that play a role driving the real car that you just don't have in the simulator. In the sim, it's all about having as close correlation as possible with reality. That's what we are working for, and I feel like we are taking the actions necessary to bring the simulator as close as possible to the real thing. Spain was a tough day and long night in the simulator on the Friday, so it was nice to see the comments afterwards from Toto and the drivers. What's also important is crediting the people behind the scenes in the simulator and the whole team in Brackley and Brixworth who work day and night to push the development forward.
Tumblr media
I've definitely been on a learning curve since joining the team, but now I've settled in more and have a deeper understanding of the car itself. As I have driven the W14 too, I have a reference so can really judge the changes that the drivers make on track and relate to those feelings that I had driving it. It's a different kind of learning now. The simulator work can be quite tough mentally. You are driving in front of a computer, so the screen makes your eyes tired. Whenever I'm away from it, I try to reduce the screen time, not sit glued to my phone or computer.
Tumblr media
Most recently I was at the Goodwood Festival of Speed with the Team. It was my first time there and I really enjoyed seeing so many fans. It was a shame the weather meant we couldn't run on Saturday, but Sunday was super special. I got to drive the 2021 car, the W12. It was amazing how much grip the car had and the speed it could carry through the corners, so it makes sense how Lewis and Valtteri were able to win races and fight for championships in it.
Tumblr media
Driving the 2011 W02, the car that my dad drove for the Team, was particularly special and I had a lot of emotions driving it. I even did some donuts in it. I want to say a big thank you to everyone in the Team for creating the opportunity and making it possible. There's been lots going on, as you can probably tell! So when I'm not working, I've been enjoyed being out in nature and having some proper time off. I feel like I've found a good balance so far. I've been just as busy as I have been in previous years and I wouldn't have thought that prior to the start of the year. That's been a good thing, keeping me sharp and hopefully that'll prepare me for when I am back in a car.
Tumblr media
I just wanted to finish this entry by thanking you, the fans, for all your support. I hope everyone is doing well and looking out for each other. Hopefully these diary entries give a good insight into what I'm up to. I'll be checking in with you later in the year so until then, take care.

Hamilton details 'characteristics' Mercedes must improve upon to catch Red Bull
Lewis Hamilton believes if Mercedes are to eventually challenge Red Bull for victories they must change certain characteristics on the W14 – as he also revealed his hopes for a 2021-style title fight with Max Verstappen and Fernando Alonso. Hamilton and Mercedes have enjoyed a return to form in recent races after bringing their first major upgrade package of the season to Monaco. Since then, Hamilton has finished second in Spain, before also taking third last time out in Montreal. READ MORE: ‘There will be many emotions’ – Mick Schumacher preparing for ‘special’ drive in father Michael’s Mercedes at Goodwood The Silver Arrows' return to form has raised hopes amongst many that they could at some stage challenge Red Bull for race victories. But, speaking in the press conference following the Canadian GP, Hamilton says there are a few things that must change for that to happen. When asked whether the W14 feels different to drive pre, and post, upgrades, Hamilton responded: “In truth, it doesn't feel a huge difference to the beginning of the year. "There are some elements of the car which do feel different obviously with the upgrade, but it's simply just having a little bit more downforce on the car. Hamilton says Mercedes must add more downforce to the W14 to help them challenge Red Bull “But the characteristics of the car are very, very similar to what we had earlier on in the year and so we need to – for the future, for next year's car – you need to take a lot of these different things off and change them for sure. “It's definitely not the car, characteristic-wise, that's going to be able to beat the Red Bull just yet. And so, we've got to work on that." READ MORE: 'Quite an iconic top three' – Verstappen, Alonso, and Hamilton reflect on sharing the podium together in Montreal As things stand, Verstappen sits at the top of the drivers’ standings, on 195 points – 69 points ahead of his nearest rival, team mate Sergio Perez. His Red Bull team also sit comfortably at the top of the constructors’ championship, with 321 points – 154 points ahead of Mercedes in second. And when asked in Montreal, if Red Bull and Verstappen’s advantage is frustrating for him, Hamilton – sat next to the Dutch driver and Alonso – responded: “It’s not a frustration anymore, if it ever was. Hamilton hopes to have a title fight with Verstappen and Alonso at some point “It's what you're faced with, and there's nothing I can do about their amazing performance. It's likely that they will win every race, moving forwards, this year, unless the Astons and us put a lot more performance on the cars, or their car doesn’t finish. TREMAYNE ON FANGIO: Why F1’s first record breaker is still revered by racing fans decades after he left the stage “It's not easy with the regulations to find the amount of performance that they have, advantage-wise. They've got to be 30 points upon us in certain points through the lap and we've got some work to do. But it's not that it's frustrating, I just, as I said… I'm happy to firstly be back in the mix. “And I'm just hoping at some stage we can have it all a little bit more level so we can get back to some of the good races we had back in 2021. And to have all three of us in a super-tight battle would be sick.” via Formula 1 News https://www.formula1.com
