yourusername As many of you know, I spent majority of 2021 and 2022 traveling the world with Mick for formula 1. Because of that, my life was put on hold. While I cherish those days, I lost sight of who I was.
Six months ago, Mick and I amicably decided to take a break. While the decision wasn’t easy, it was what was best for both of us as we both were in transitional points in our lives. During this time, I have traveled the world, for myself, and started to journal what I learned from locals, friends and strangers. Early on into this journey, I realized that my experiences were something that should be shared as I know we all go through times times when we feel lost and unsure of who we are.

Mick's Diary: Bringing Performance to the Track
Hi everyone. Welcome to another chapter of my diary!
Plenty has happened since we last spoke. The season is now in full swing, and a lot has been going on. I've done the first test in the W14 which was great. Completing the Pirelli tyre test in Barcelona and getting back in the car was a good feeling, and very special. For me, it was a big step up driving the W14. I know the team are working hard to create a winning car and I have no doubt that they will.
I've seen this in the past couple of weeks, how determined the team is and how everyone's got their heads down, focused and how responsive they are to issues and feedback. There have been loads of things that I've learned from the team so far and I really appreciate that. Things that I can take forward in my career.
It's been a very busy, but good, period in the simulator too. I'm aware that the simulator is never going to be a 100 percent replication of real life. You have certain factors that play a role driving the real car that you just don't have in the simulator. In the sim, it's all about having as close correlation as possible with reality. That's what we are working for, and I feel like we are taking the actions necessary to bring the simulator as close as possible to the real thing.
Spain was a tough day and long night in the simulator on the Friday, so it was nice to see the comments afterwards from Toto and the drivers. What's also important is crediting the people behind the scenes in the simulator and the whole team in Brackley and Brixworth who work day and night to push the development forward.
I've definitely been on a learning curve since joining the team, but now I've settled in more and have a deeper understanding of the car itself. As I have driven the W14 too, I have a reference so can really judge the changes that the drivers make on track and relate to those feelings that I had driving it. It's a different kind of learning now.
The simulator work can be quite tough mentally. You are driving in front of a computer, so the screen makes your eyes tired. Whenever I'm away from it, I try to reduce the screen time, not sit glued to my phone or computer.
Most recently I was at the Goodwood Festival of Speed with the Team. It was my first time there and I really enjoyed seeing so many fans. It was a shame the weather meant we couldn't run on Saturday, but Sunday was super special.
I got to drive the 2021 car, the W12. It was amazing how much grip the car had and the speed it could carry through the corners, so it makes sense how Lewis and Valtteri were able to win races and fight for championships in it.
Driving the 2011 W02, the car that my dad drove for the Team, was particularly special and I had a lot of emotions driving it. I even did some donuts in it. I want to say a big thank you to everyone in the Team for creating the opportunity and making it possible.
There's been lots going on, as you can probably tell! So when I'm not working, I've been enjoyed being out in nature and having some proper time off. I feel like I've found a good balance so far. I've been just as busy as I have been in previous years and I wouldn't have thought that prior to the start of the year. That's been a good thing, keeping me sharp and hopefully that'll prepare me for when I am back in a car.
I just wanted to finish this entry by thanking you, the fans, for all your support. I hope everyone is doing well and looking out for each other. Hopefully these diary entries give a good insight into what I'm up to.

Victory for the Solus GT in Sunday’s Timed Shootout Final at the 2023 Goodwood Festival of Speed confirmed its astonishing performance credentials, thrilling spectators and crowning McLaren’s 60th anniversary celebrations at the event.
Having made its dynamic debut on Thursday July 13 – the first day of the 2023 Festival – the Solus GT’s full-throttle assault on Goodwood’s 1.16-mile Hillclimb in Sunday’s grand finale saw McLaren Factory Driver Marvin Kirchhöfer storm to the top of the timesheet with a run of 45.342 seconds. This secured McLaren’s second Festival of Speed Timed Shootout win in three years, following victory in 2021.

Mick Schumacher set to drive father Michael's Mercedes W02 at Goodwood Festival of Speed
Mercedes have announced that Mick Schumacher will be in attendance at next month’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, driving his father Michael's 2011 race car, the W02.
Schumacher joined the eight-time world champions at the start of 2023 as a reserve driver, after two seasons with Haas. Since then, Schumacher has had his first taste of on-track action for the team, earlier this month in the W14 at the Pirelli tyre test in Barcelona.

The German will now get another go out on track, but this time in the W02 at Goodwood, the same car his seven-time world champion father, Michael, drove in 2011 for Mercedes.
A delighted Schumacher, who will be attending the event for the first time, said: "It’s going to be spectacular to run in my dad’s 2011 car, the W02, even if it is only a short run.
“Just experiencing this generation of cars will be mega. Knowing that he raced this car makes it extra special, and there will be many emotions coming with it.

"I have been lucky enough to drive one of his Benetton cars and some of the Ferraris he raced. But this will be the first time behind the wheel of a Mercedes he drove. I am sure I will get out of it with a big smile on my face.”
The W02 was the second car designed and built by Mercedes after purchasing the team in 2009. Raced by Michael and eventual 2016 world champion Nico Rosberg, it became a regular points scorer en route to fourth in the constructors’ championship in 2011.
Schumacher will be teaming up with another former Haas driver, Esteban Gutierrez, as the Mexican is set to drive the Silver Arrows' 2021 championship-winning car, the W12, at the same weekend.

Maserati’s Grecale SUV is making its UK dynamic debut at Goodwood’s 28th Festival of Speed, taking on the famous hill climb in the First Glance Run.
During the renowned four-day event – taking place at Goodwood, West Sussex from 23 to 26 June – the Maserati Grecale is being put to the test on the 1.16-mile course.
The Trident brand's special guest was David Beckham, Maserati’s Global Brand Ambassador. An icon of world sport, philanthropist, businessman and style pioneer, he arrived at this major event aboard a Grecale, in its Trofeo version. As part of a partnership established in 2021, Maserati and Beckham are fired up by the same passion; they share the same admiration for technological innovations and for the best of Made in Italy design.
The new Maserati Grecale is the “everyday exceptional” SUV, incorporating the thrill of luxury and pure innovation. It is available in three versions: GT, powered by a four-cylinder mild hybrid engine capable of delivering 300 hp; Modena, with a four-cylinder 330-hp mild hybrid engine; and Trofeo, powered by a high-performance 530-hp petrol V6 based on the MC20 Nettuno engine. It is the Trofeo version that will be showing off its driving prowess to onlookers as it tackles the hill climb.
The MC20, which had its UK dynamic showcase at last year’s Festival of Speed, also makes an appearance on the hill climb route, and is joined by the latest model in the range, the new Maserati MC20 Cielo spyder. Launched in May 2022, the MC20 Cielo weighs just 65kg more than the coupé and features an innovative retractable glass roof. The state-of-the-art electrochromic (smart glass) window can instantly be transformed from clear to opaque at the touch of a button on the central screen, courtesy of Polymer-Dispersed Liquid Crystal (PDLC) technology. The roof is also best-in-class in terms of thermal insulation and an opening and closing speed of just 12 seconds. Both models are paired with the powerful F1-derived V6 Nettuno engine, which ensures an exceptional power to weight ratio and jaw-dropping acceleration and top speed, with the coupe achieving 0-62mph in approximately 3.0 seconds.
For the remainder of the Festival, the MC20 and the Grecale, in the Trofeo version, will be thrilling spectators twice a day on the Goodwood hill climb and will be on display in the Supercar Paddock and the First Glance Paddock respectively.

Mick Schumacher to drive fathers Mercedes F1 car at Goodwood Festival | 2023 F1 season
Mick Schumacher will drive a Mercedes Formula 1 car which was raced by his father at the Goodwood Festival of Speed next month.
The former Haas F1 racer will be making his debut at the festival which takes places over four days on the weekend following the British Grand Prix.
Schumacher will drive a Mercedes W02, which was campaigned by the team in 2011. His father and Nico Rosberg took the team to fourth place in the championship in the car, but did not win a race in it, which remains the most recent occasion Mercedes have ended an F1 season without a victory.
The W02 never achieved a podium finish either. Schumacher gave the car its best result at that year’s rain-affected Canadian Grand Prix where he finished fourth after being passed by Mark Webber’s Red Bull with fourth laps to go.
“It’s going to be spectacular to run in my dad’s 2011 car, the W02, even if it is only a short run,” said Schumacher. “Just experiencing this generation of cars will be mega.”
The W02 has a normally aspirated 2.4-litre V8 engine with additional power provided by a Kinetic Energy Recovery System.
“Knowing that he raced this car makes it extra special, and there will be many emotions coming with it,” said Schumacher.
The 24-year-old has already driven cars from the three other teams his father raced for in F1 – Jordan, Benetton and Ferrari and will complete the quartet with his run in the Mercedes. “I am sure I will get out of it with a big smile on my face,” he said.
Mercedes will also run their most recent championship-winning car at Goodwood. Esteban Gutierrez will drive a W12, which the team raced in 2021, when Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas took them to the constructors’ title.

La Lamborghini SC63 marque l'incursion de Lamborghini dans la course d'endurance hybride, alliant innovation et performance.
Lamborghini Squadra Corse a dévoilé son premier prototype de course d'endurance hybride, le SC63, au prestigieux Goodwood Festival of Speed. La SC63 se fera un nom dans la catégorie hypercar du Championnat du Monde d'Endurance FIA 2024, qui comprend des courses majeures telles que les 24 Heures du Mans, dans les semaines d'essais à venir.
Il participera également à la catégorie GTP de la IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship Endurance Cup, qui comprend des événements emblématiques tels que les 24 Heures de Daytona et les 12 Heures de Sebring. Sous le capot
Qu'on méticuleusement développé les ingénieurs de Lamborghini ? Un moteur V8 biturbo de 3,8 litres à la pointe de la technologie. Développé exclusivement pour les ambitions de course du SC63. Dans la configuration "Cold V"? le turbocompresseur du moteur est stratégiquement positionné à l'extérieur de l'angle en V. Cela permet de maximiser l'efficacité du refroidissement et la facilité d'entretien. Cette conception innovante permet également de réduire le poids et de maximiser le centre de gravité du véhicule. Combinant un équilibre aérodynamique personnalisé avec une position distinctive ? Lamborghini a identifié l'approche la plus efficace pour une adhérence exceptionnelle des pneus. Un équilibre parfait et une vitesse constante dans les sprints et les courses.
Qu'est ce que la réglementation limite ? la puissance des moteurs standard et les systèmes hybrides des véhicules de la classe LMDh à 500 kW (680 ch). L'unité de puissance est gérée par une unité de commande électronique Bosch et suit le livre de règles LMDh, qui prescrit une boîte de vitesses, une batterie et un alternateur normalisés (MGU). Cette approche réduit efficacement les coûts de développement associés aux prototypes de véhicules.
Au-delà du domaine mécanique
Les ingénieurs de Lamborghini n'ont ménagé aucun effort pour améliorer chaque aspect du SC63. La boîte de vitesses est standard, mais Lamborghini est libre de la personnaliser selon les besoins individuels, tels que les rapports de démultiplication et les caractéristiques de glissement du différentiel mécanique.
Dans le cadre de ce partenariat stratégique ? Lamborghini a mandaté des spécialistes renommés de Ligier pour développer et fabriquer la monocoque. En tant que premier constructeur à collaborer avec Ligier sur le projet LMDh ? Une cloche qui relie l'arrière du moteur à l'avant de la boîte de vitesses améliore la rigidité en torsion et offre un logement dédié au moteur électrique.
Le SC63 présente une carrosserie intéressante
Résultat d'une collaboration entre le département Centro Style Design de Lamborghini et son équipe de conception de course dédiée. Les éléments emblématiques de style Lamborghini parfaitement intégrés dans tout le véhicule ! arborant des feux en forme de Y incomparables à l'avant et à l'arrière.
Fidèle à l'identité de la marque Lamborghini, la SC63 arbore une livrée qui rappelle la légendaire Huracán GT3 Challenger. L'emblématique Verde Mantis Green rehaussé de rayures noires Nero Noctis ornant l'intérieur, le capot avant, le diffuseur en carbone, l'aileron arrière et les ailes. Le tricolore italien vert, blanc et rouge rend hommage à l'héritage de Lamborghini et est complété par la marque de l'horloger suisse partenaire de longue date Roger Dubuis.
Un facteur clé dans les décisions d'ingénierie et de conception est l'emplacement du système de refroidissement du véhicule. Que c'est t-il passé a la conception de la prise d'eau du ponton derrière le cockpit ? Il a fait l'objet d'itérations minutieuses avant d'atteindre sa configuration finale. L'équipe a réussi à intégrer huit refroidisseurs distincts, dont :
- Un refroidisseur intermédiaire,
- un refroidisseur de transmission,
- un condenseur de climatisation,
- un système de récupération d'énergie (ERS),
- un système de stockage d'énergie (ESS)
- un refroidisseur dédié au refroidissement par eau.
Une seule configuration de kit carrosserie
Le règlement n'autorise qu'une seule configuration de kit carrosserie et seul un nombre limité de modifications autorisé par course. Par conséquent, les équipes de conception doivent envisager les pires scénarios en tenant compte des températures ambiantes élevées et en optimisant l'efficacité thermique des véhicules sur les pistes IMSA et WEC. Avant les essais sur piste, un simulateur de pilote dans la boucle ( DiL ) a été utilisé pour effectuer virtuellement des travaux de développement approfondis.
Une aide précieuse a été apportée par l'expertise des pilotes d'usine Lamborghini Mirko Bortolotti et Andrea Caldarelli ! ainsi que de Daniil Kvyat et Romain Grosjean, pilotes expérimentés dans les systèmes hybrides avec une expérience en F1. Ces connaissances ont contribué à améliorer le système LMDh ! en particulier la conception des commandes au volant qui permet au conducteur de gérer de manière transparente les fonctions hybrides critiques.
À partir de 2024, une voiture SC63 participera à l'ensemble du Championnat du monde d'endurance de la FIA. Une autre à l'épreuve du Championnat d'endurance nord-américain de la série IMSA. Les deux séries supervisées par l'équipe partenaire Iron Links pour la grande finale Lamborghini 2022. La gamme de pilotes comprend Bortolotti, Caldarelli, Grosjean et Kvyat, et d'autres pilotes devraient être annoncés plus tard en 2023. Source
