Franklin's lost expedition crew
I was looking at posts about AMC's The Terror and I kept getting confused by the use of first names, so I wanted to see how many of the characters had the same names. Arranging the crew in alphabetical order, I got:
1 x Abraham (Seeley)
4 x Alexander (Berry, McDonald, Paterson, Wilson)
5 x Charles (Best, Coombs, Des Voeux, Johnson, Osmer)
1 x Cornelius (Hickey)
2 x Daniel (Arthur, Bryant)
3 x David (Leys, Macdonald, Young) + Bonus: Bryant in the show but most historical sources I found list him as Daniel
1 x Edmund (Hoar)
3 x Edward (Couch, Genge, Little)
2 x Edwin (Helpman, Lawrence)
3 x Francis (Crozier, Dunn, Pocock)
1 x Frederick (Hornby) + Bonus: Des Voeux, whom I have seen referred to as Frederick rather than Charles on occasion
6 x George (Cann, Chambers, Hodgson, Kinnaird, Thompson, Williams)
1 x Gillies (MacBean)
1 x Graham (Gore)
7 x Henry/Harry (Collins, Goodsir, Le Vesconte, Lloyd, Peglar, Sait, Wilkes)
10 x James (Brown, Daly, Elliot, Fairholme, Fitzjames, Hart, Reid, Ridgen, Thompson, Walker) + Bonus: Ross, who was not part of the expedition but appears in the show
23 x John (Bailey, Bates, Bridgens, Brown, Cowie, Diggle, Downing, Franklin, Gregory, Hammond, Handford, Hartnell, Irving, Kenley, Lane, Morfin, Murray, Peddie, Strickland, Sullivan, Torrington, Weekes, Wilson)
2 x Joseph (Andrews, Healey)
1 x Josephus (Geater)
1 x Luke (Smith)
1 x Magnus (Manson)
1 x Philip (Reddington)
1 x Reuben (Male)
2 x Richard (Aylmore, Wall)
8 x Robert (Carr, Ferrier, Golding, Hopcraft, Johns, Sargent, Sinclair, Thomas)
3 x Samuel (Brown, Crispe, Honey)
1 x Solomon (Tozer)
16 x Thomas (Armitage, Blanky, Burt, Darlington, Evans, Farr, Hartnell, Honey, Johnson, Jopson, McConvey, Plater, Tadman, Terry, Watson, Work)
22 x William (Aitken, Bell, Braine, Clossan, Fowler, Gibson, Goddard, Heather, Hedges, Jerry, Johnson, Mark, Orren, Pilkington, Read, Rhodes, Shanks, Sims, Sinclair, Smith, Strong, Wentzall)

For the ask 6 characters game : all the lieutenants (since Fairhorlne doesn't get developed, just replace him with Lt. Jopson)
Oh damn, as bad as I feel that this got lost in my inbox, it's another lovely boost to find it again and to revel in whimsy! :D
Marry - Little! It always has been and it always will be dear sweet Ned-Boy. He is my everything. <3
Kiss - Gore! I've smooched in before and so help me god, I'll smooch him again! I think he'd taste good and kiss like a Disney prince.
Be Room-Mates With - Jopson! Again, stewards just make incredible room-mates in general in my book. He'd be clean, fastidious and incredibly trustworthy while also being a remorselessly gossipy bitch in the know. I feel like he'd be sort of 'fixer' too, though I couldn't tell you why - one of those mates that's just like "Oh, you need x, y, and z? Don't worry about it - I know a guy." ;)
Wrap a Blanket Around - Hodgson! I'd swaddle him tight like a literal baby and rock him off to beddy-byes to the sound of Clair De Lune. I think he'd like that.
Push Off a Cliff - Irving! I've chosen him for just about every other option before - he may as well meet God now!
Set on Fire - Le Vesconte! I'm sorry Dundy, pet, I still haven't forgiven you for the psychic damage you inflicted on my husband. Get singed!

His Favourite (Gore/Le Vesconte)
Their beds were not made for sharing. They're too narrow to comfortably accommodate two fully grown men, and certainly don't allow for limbs dangling over both sides of the mattress, but there are ways to negotiate the difficulty. Graham quite enjoys each way they've devised so far, but this one might be his favourite. Dundy is sitting with his legs up on the bed, reclined against the wall as he reads, pillows cushioning his back and his thighs parted to make room for Graham. Lying with his head against Dundy's stomach, his arms looped around his lover's soft waist, Graham has to keep his knees drawn up, but it's no hardship. He could sleep like this. He would as well, if it weren't for Dundy. It's not so much the occasional turning of the page that holds his attention, but what Dundy's hand does while not busy with the book. Idly, he strokes Graham's hair, playing with it, his fingers gentle as they smooth through it and then absentmindedly pick a lock to twirl around his finger. Dundy is perfectly content, and Graham is too, murmuring as he settles in a little more. Maybe he will sleep.
He's almost there, drifting warmly at the edge of consciousness, when Dundy shifts beneath him. The sound he makes is badly stifled, the shaking of his stomach impossible to mistake for anything but laughter. There is no need to wake fully, no urgency at all, so Graham doesn't. He smiles, feeling safe like this, squeezing Dundy and rubbing his face against the softness of his stomach. Dundy is lovely, so lovely, and he realises he might have said that out loud when Dundy chuckles again, petting his hair more deliberately.
He's reassured that he's lovely too, and then calmness settles over them again, Dundy's fingers in Graham's hair, the slow rise and fall of his breath beneath Gresham's cheek soothing. There are one or two more chuckles as the moments melt pleasantly together, and Graham smiles at the happiness he can feel. His hold on wakefulness begins to slip again and, this time, he doesn't fight it.

Gore is a veritable furnace; the man absolutely radiates heat. This is perfect given Dundy loves to be warm. Graham is more than happy to indulge him, wrapping his arms around him and holding him gently to warm him up.
On a related note, Dundy always sleeps largely sprawled out on top of Graham, partially from a need to be as close to the man as he can be on the rare nights they have together and partially because it is so wonderfully warm.

Oh, ces mecs français. <3 I liked how Le Vesconte first tries to keep order as Des Voeux's senior, and then softens up and reaches for that common bond of heritage they have. It was a very nice little moment of connection.
thank you! i suspect those divisions of rank could be very lonely.

I loved this! The moment Le Vesconte is struck with memory of the french carol was very touching ♥️ also, I liked Henry pointing out how different are the ships, and how whistling (and Gore) belong on Terror x) thank you so much for writing it!
thanks, i’m so glad you liked it! and that it wasn’t too awkward to someone who speaks the language, haha.

Could I request something soft for Dundy and Gore (bonus if you work in some of the nice vibes that have been going around with the positivity fest)? :)
Little kisses: Dundy/Gore
Now that they're pressed close together, embracing, Graham is starting to understand Dundy's reticence, his hesitation. There is no reason for him to be shy, but Dundy clearly thinks there is, and grows pink as Graham discovers just how soft his stomach is. The uniform betrays a little of it, yes, but to feel the lovely contours delights Graham beyond measure, and he leans in, telling Dundy just what he thinks in the moment before they kiss.
He can feel the heat radiating from Dundy, his embarrassment, but the kiss does not break. It only wavers for a moment, a shiver of something that feels like uncertainty on Dundy's part, before deepening. Graham can taste Dundy's longing, his gentle hope that Graham is sincere in his praise, and Graham knows he's going to devote many long, happy hours to proving his adoration.

55 for goreconte? (for the intimacy prompts)
Oh man I adore this ship, a good morning to you too! Modern AU for this one, I'm not sure what I'm doing but... here's something ^^
Gore/Le Vesconte - 55: sleepovers
Graham hasn't even bothered making up the spare bed. The last three times Dundy has slept over it's not been used, and Graham supposes that at some point they'll talk about the way things have shifted between them, but that time isn't now. They're curled up on the sofa, Graham with his head against Dundy's shoulder, Dundy leaning just as heavily against him. The countdown to the next episode reaches zero, the display flicking over to a continuation of a show neither of them are really watching, and Graham turns his hand beneath where Dundy's rests over his. He isn't exactly tired, but he suggests they go to bed anyway. There's a warm hum in answer, a squeeze of his hand, and they slowly make their way towards Graham's room.
It's warm beneath the covers. It's cosy. They lie facing each other, having reached what is perhaps Graham's favourite part of having Dundy stay over: Idly talking until they fall asleep together. They remember old stories to each other and tell silly jokes, imagining all the ridiculous things they might do together in the future, laughing, listening, and watching each other talk until they're too tired to keep their eyes open. As Dundy eases closer, Graham murmurs in approval, holding Dundy tight for a moment, wanting all those things they've spoken about, as well as those they haven't. He wants this to last forever.
Come morning, they're still tangled together. As Dundy wakes and gives him a hazy, lopsided grin, Graham is tempted to ask him to stay. He manages not to, though, knowing that it's only a matter of time before Dundy stays over again. Maybe he'll ask him then.

Little kisses: Gore/Le Vesconte
It's a game, Dundy tells him, although Graham isn't sure what the point of it is, or how to tell who's winning. He feels like it's him, somehow, but given the way Dundy grins as he leans back in again, he's not so sure. Maybe there aren't any winners, and it's just an excuse for some fun.
Or maybe, Graham realises as Dundy steals another kiss and he decides that this time he's going to stop Dundy pulling away before kissing him properly, they're both winners.

Gore will occasionally “steal” the logbook Le Vesconte carries about and leave him little drawings in the margins. Dundy doesn’t mind him using it, in fact, he rather likes finding the sketches (usually accompanied by a short, affectionate note) while he’s working.

hello! i am a bit shy to say this but i really like your stories with dundy's tum! is it alright to request for a soft little kiss for gore x dundy?
(Aaaaaaaaah thank you!! I love Dundy's tummy so much hehehe. This one isn't tummy-focused, but hopefully it's nice and soft enough anyway ^^)
Little kisses: Gore/Dundy
He likes the silences they share, the easy moments in which they can simply exist side-by-side without expectation. More often than not, Graham's hand is in his, and Dundy works to keep a private little smile from making itself known on his lips as he glances down at their intertwined fingers.
Graham notices it anyway. He seems to notice everything about Dundy, and doesn't shy away from it or let it turn him from Dundy's company. Instead, Graham leans in, and Dundy's smile becomes more fixed as he's offered a kiss. He's lost count of how many kisses they've shared, but he closes the distance and cherishes this one just the same as all the others, because he can feel in the gentleness of it Graham's acceptance of him, and perhaps even his love.

Quite Lovely (Gore/Le Vesconte, ~700 words, sfw)
I wrote this a week or so ago quite simply because I can't get enough of Dundy's tummy and just... love these two and love this so... yep!
-
Not even the layers of their uniform can hide it. Graham glances, distracted, and can't bring his attention back to the meeting now that it’s been torn away. Dundy is shifting, readjusting himself in his seat, and, as he does, he covertly tugs at the front of his jacket, trying to tug it down over his stomach. The cut of their uniform is designed to be sleek, and flattering, with some of the vainer officers of Her Majesty’s Royal Navy using corsetry to maintain an illusion of their figure, but Dundy’s jacket looks a whisker shy of too small now, creasing mid-chest and then hugging his stomach. It looks… pleasant. Something about the fact that Dundy has managed to put on weight holds Graham’s focus, his thoughts fuzzy and warm as he dwells on the detail. Given the way Dundy moves, he seems self-conscious, trying not to draw attention to that part of his figure, although Graham can’t fathom why. It makes Dundy appear soft and inviting, and quite lovely in his mind—which really ought to be on whatever Sir John is saying but he can’t, for the rest of the meeting, pull away from the heartwarming realisation that Dundy’s figure has changed.
.
They have the mess to themselves, tea and biscuits having been brought and the door slid shut again. Graham can’t help watching as Dundy reaches for a biscuit, lifting it to his mouth and then hesitating as he sees Graham regarding him.
“What?”
Graham catches the smile on his own lips, and shakes his head to dispel the idea that something is wrong. “You’ve put on weight,” he says.
Dundy smarts, his cheeks colouring as he sets the biscuit back down. “No need to be unkind about it.”
“Wait, wait,” Graham pleads, realising that his words were perhaps too abrupt, that Dundy really is self-conscious about it. “I’m not saying it’s a bad thing.”
He’s going about this all wrong. He can see the prickly side of Dundy’s nature emerging full force, shuttering the hurt he feels. Graham never meant for that to happen, and half wonders how it has, given how easygoing Dundy affects to be.
“I’m just noticing,” Graham tries to explain. “And… well, you do cut a rather dashing figure, you know.”
Dundy’s expression tightens. “I don’t quite see the point in this conversation.”
“Does there need to be one?” Graham wonders.
Dundy looks down, contemplating the discarded biscuit and his tea, only touching the latter as silence falls between them. Graham leans back in his chair, sighing silently in annoyance at himself as he notices Dundy’s hand tremble as he brings his teacup up. The sip he takes looks awkward, as if it costs him entirely too much effort to feign composure. The idea that praise unsettles him just doesn’t sit right with Graham, the understanding that it’s the comment about his weight making it impossible to leave the conversion at that.
“Dundy?”
Dundy looks towards him, and Graham bites his lip as he watches him. He doesn’t want to push Dundy away, but nor can he remain silent.
“You really are quite handsome.”
To his own discomfort, Dundy looks hurt. “Don’t tease.”
“I’m not,” he insists. “I’m quite serious.”
Dundy wavers, a crack appearing in his usual self in the moment before he looks down, heat rising in his cheeks. It makes Graham give a soft ‘oh’, because he’s seen Dundy flush before—from the cold, from drink, from exertion, from excitement, and, once or twice, from shame—but never from a compliment. It’s a victory of the sweetest kind, and Graham relaxes, tension he hadn’t felt building washing away. He reaches out, pushing his own plate of biscuits across the table, and Dundy looks at it before glancing up at him. Carefully, he reaches out and accepts the offering, cool fingertips brushing against Graham’s. “Thank you.”
There’s no way Graham can hold back a smile. It lingers, softening as he watches Dundy take a bite of one of the biscuits, something within him shifting in a warm, pleasant way. “You look lovely,” he can’t help saying.
His mouth too full to speak, Dundy replies with a shy little smile that’s so far from his usual, confident grin that Graham knows it’s just for him.

Graham and Dundy balance each other out well, especially in terms of personality. For all he affects good cheer and nonchalance, Le Vesconte is a chronic worrier, nearly to the point of downright pessimism. When things start to go badly, his mind almost always turns towards the worst. Gore, with his indefatigable optimism, keeps him from withdrawing too far into his own head and keeps him focused on the present moment and the good in it.

i'm not sure if you've done them before but can i request a little kiss for dundy/gore?
I will write a million for these two! Honestly, don’t worry if I did do a pairing already, more kisses can always be captured ^^ (I think I’ve maybe poked this one a bit much though, been writing/daydreaming about it for the last half hour...)
Little kisses: Dundy/Gore
It's a kiss shaken by laughter, both of them trembling with it, memories of that wonderful, disastrous dinner party some four years ago bleeding through the endless Arctic night that's settled around them. Dundy doesn't feel cold. He doesn't feel afraid. There is no darkness, especially not now, in this moment, as he recalls the vivid chaos of peacocks and ruined green silk, Graham's hand in his own, the two of them fighting not to double over in mirth. Graham is so much like the sun, radiant and warm, as unwavering in his love and loyalty as he was back then, and as Dundy remembers that night, the tipsy laughter and careless touches that led to them falling into each other's arms for the first time, his laughter softens. He silently, with devotion that makes him ache to think on it, reaffirms the vow he made to himself back then that he will love Graham with every beat of his heart, and live for him with and breath he takes.

*Rubs little angsty gremlin hands together* You mentioned a sad idea in your Dundy/Gore tags, may I see it?
Okay so it’s not actually too sad because... they don’t know... what’s about to happen... That Graham is never coming back, that Dundy will never get to say a final farewell...
Little kisses: Dundy/Gore
It's a gentle kiss, soft and sweet, no different from the thousands of other little kisses they've shared over the years. They are both a fraction too warm, Graham dressed in his slops, Dundy his heavy coats. The welsh wig is in the way of Graham's hair, a fact Dundy laments as he uses the collar to hold Graham close instead, sharing the last few moments of privacy they have before the lead parties set out. The layers Graham wears, heavy and cumbersome, somehow look fetching on him, although, as they pull apart with a soft, knowing smile, Dundy thinks the attractiveness is more to do with how eagerly he's looking forward to Graham returning to him, and helping him out of them.
