Gosh I love all of your posts! 😘 I was wondering what your thoughts would be on Alastor trying to court his darling? We all know he’s a gentleman at heart and is very proper. So how would he go about trying to win them over?
• He wouldn't tell anyone except for a very very small select few that he thinks he wants to be more with you. Maybe only Rosie honestly. The Great Radio Demon would never normally ask for help but this is uncharted territory for him
• Rosie would be so excited, acting like a gossiping wine aunt and doing her best to direct Alastor
"You know how you treat Vox? Don't do that."
"You know how you treat Lucifer? Don't do that."
"You know how you treat—"
"Rosie. I get it."
• He does his best to save you a seat beside him whenever he's lounging in the lobby. And even though he wouldn't let you into his bedroom, he would definitely let you know that if you ever need anything at all, you can come find him at any time
• Would know your favourite breakfast, lunch and dinner and regularly have it made for you. You technically don't have to eat anything to survive but he likes the way your eyes light up when you see what's waiting for you downstairs anyway
• Usually he hates when people get near him before he can do it to them—he likes the control he has invading other peoples' space and not when it happens to him
• But he actually enjoys the feeling of your hands and how gentle you are. Has 0 qualms about you being touchy with him because unlike when others get too close, he feels no malice from you. You make him feel comfortably safe
• Alastor would 100% be overprotective of you even if he's not directly hovering over your shoulder. Always keeping an eye on you when you go out and discreetly stepping in when others are too handsy with you
• He would play old tunes for you on the piano, staying up with you well into the night just to watch you sit on the back of it and listen with a smile
• You're not from the same era so he tries to learn about all the technology from your time, even though he despises it
• Eventually others get the hint that Alastor might see you as more than just a friend and try to set the two of you up in their meddlesome ways
"Here they come!" Angel sticks out his leg to trip you and you conveniently fall right into Alastor's arms. He would raise a brow but not question the help.
"I'm sorry!"
"Quite alright, darling."
• On that note, knows that you get a little flustered when he uses pet names so he makes sure to call you his dearest/darling often
• Has you fix his bowtie in the morning. Like, he purposefully leaves it a little undone so that when he sees you, you immediately have a reason to be near him
• When walking with him, he'll always link arms with you and treats you like royalty
• I can't imagine him actually asking you out or anything, he just started acknowledging you as a companion and you went along with it

(so happy your bringing back the birthday takeover interactions for Rollo/Roro/Rolo/Lolo (i give up) i just want to remind you that I love you Miss Raven🫂)
HAPPY BIRTHDAYYYYY TO OUR DEAREST PRESIDENT!!! Ehem, excuse my volume, just doing my best to keep the joyous atmosphere.
I hope the decorations are all to your liking, the others and I have done our outmost to keep the room neatly decorated😌 Though... I couldn't stop those Night Raven College students, it was his idea not mine.
*points at NBC Vice President*
As for my gift to you~ Here~
*presents a tiny music box, when turned plays the instrumental to 'Everyone Go Yahoo!' by Neige and the Dwarfs from VDC*
And once again, Happy Birthday to you!
The wording on this interaction is a little confusing; I'm not sure if it comes from a general NBC mob, the student council aide, or another NRC student??? For ease of writing, I'm write from the perspective of a NBC mob. (Fun fact, the Snow White music box image I used for this post is a rare item that sells for several hundreds of dollars 🤑)
Tumblr media
Rollo produced his handkerchief and coughed stiffly into it. “I understand what you are trying to communicate. There is no need to raise your voice. As for the decorations…”
He gave the looks a cursory glance—to give the impression of evaluating it.
There had been painstaking care in the color coordination of the balloons, streamers, and banners: Noble Bell College’s violet, maroon, and black, spackled with golden glitter. Confetti had made its home on the rug and crevices of the floor, and his desk and coffee table hosted platters of cake, bread, cheeses, and grapes. A large bell-shaped piñata hung overhead, waiting to be batted around. And flowers—flowers everywhere.
“… It is beyond my expectations,” he said carefully. Yes, it is beyond my expectations because I never expected this interruption to begin with!! “I must thank you and the others for organizing this celebration. I am humbled to have received such thoughtful attention.”
You flushed with pride at his praise, not recognizing it for the tailored politeness that it was: an act. Your president had always been cool, reserved, and controlled with his emotions.
His face subtly shifted when you presented him with your gift. A slight widening of the eyes, a tick in his jaw. This, you knew, was his “surprised”.
The music box was a marvel. Shaped like a sturdy coffin, it was painted in the earth browns of tree bark, the blues of halcyon skies, and the greens of open grassy fields. Detailed animals eagerly climbed up its sides, while a parade of seven dwarves adorned the lid. The craftsmanship—as much as Rollo loathed to admit it—was impressive.
When you turned the crank to demonstrate its song, the box sprang open, revealing a tiny prince and princess set spinning in an eternal dance. A familiar tune flitted out, at once nostalgic and cheery to the ear. Rollo recognized it immediately.
“This is that popular children’s song.”
“Yeah! It’s going though a huge resurgence in popularity right now. Have you heard the cover Neige and his friends performed of it? It’s sooo cute!!” you gushed.
“Cover?” Rollo’s brow creased. “I apologize. I’m not aware of what you’re referring to, this… Neige-kun character.”
You did a double take. “Wait, seriously? He’s, like, THE biggest celebrity right now! All the outlets call him ‘the fairest one of all’.”
“I’ve never heard of him.”
Your jaw dropped.
Rollo-senpai is such a workaholic that he doesn’t even know Neige at all?! What dedication…! I only wish I could work half as hard as he does!!
Your admiration for him kindled anew.
“Oh gosh… You’re missing out then, Prez! You need to give it a listen when you can. It’ll get the song stuck in your head all over again!”
“I find that I am not a fan of modern renditions of the classics.” Rollo offered a strained smile. “Perhaps I can give it a chance when I can find the time in my busy schedule.”
He doubted it.

My gosh this is a very wild guess, but is Anariel the maiden in Rivendell in your WIP "The Only Gold"? [main clues I used: Anariel's birth year (fic must be set after TA 496), you mentioned that it was one of your WIP fics, she lived in Rivendell, golden/blonde hair (based on your face claim), Anariel is close to Arvellas and learned a lot from him (potentially including about the dwarves) and the she-elf in the fic knows Khuzdul
My dear friend, this was not a "wild guess", but rather some Sherlock Holmes level of investigative deduction! XD You are 100% correct! I am so impressed and flattered that you took the time to gather information and piece it together to present your proof! You must be really good at finding Easter Eggs from movie franchises.
Because of the "jumping all over the place" approach I have taken to writing out the SotWK AU of Thranduil's (and Middle-earth's) history, there are clues and Easter Eggs all over my stories about plot details that haven't been revealed yet. Mysteries like: Which Son of Fëanor is Maereth's grandfather? Who are the other First Age canons related/connected to Thranduil's family?
"The Only Gold" is my "Durins Live" fix-it fic, told mostly through the eyes of Fili and, as you have guessed, Anariel. It will run through an AU version of The Hobbit/BotFA events and explore the SotWK AU history and (broken) relationship that actually existed between Mirkwood and Erebor. All 3 Sons of Durin (Thorin, Fili and Kili) will live, but the question is how, and what role will Thranduil's family play in it?
Will Fili and Anariel fall in love and end up finally uniting the two kingdoms and races? (Grandpa Thranduil and Uncle Thorin are fighting over who gets to wring my neck first right now. *nervous laugh*) Honestly, the endgame of their relationship remains very fluid my head. (aka undecided) All I know is destiny foretold by the Elvenqueen herself will push these two beautiful blondes together.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Just a few additional notes about the lovely tidbits you picked up on regarding Anariel:
Her birth year: She is actually as close in age to her Uncle Legolas as Legolas is to his brother Mirion! But yes, Anariel was born about 500 years before the Greenwood started to darken, so she enjoyed some happy centuries of peace with her family.
Her life in Rivendell: Sadly, by the events of The Hobbit, her mother had become estranged from Thranduil, which caused Itarildë and Anariel to leave Mirkwood and reside in Rivendell for a period of time. (Aranion stayed because no one is more loyal to Thranduil than he; what a darling grandson!)
Her relation to Elrond: Anariel is a cousin by blood to Elrond. Elrond's paternal great-grandmother Elenwë is the sister of Elemírë (an OC), Anariel's paternal great-great-grandmother. Thus in the story, Elrond refers to her his "kin".
Her closeness to Arvellas and knowledge of the Dwarven culture: By the Third Age, no other Elf in Middle-earth could surpass Prince Arvellas in his knowledge of the Dwarves. For many centuries, he taught his dear niece nearly everything he knew about the Dwarven race, including Khuzdul. Arvellas foresaw he was not destined to live forever on Middle-earth, so he sought to pass on his knowledge to a worthy successor.
Her golden hair: The beauty of Anariel's golden hair is one to rival Galadriel's, due to her strong Vanyarin inheritance. (I mean, her name is "Daughter of the Sun"!) In the SotWK AU, Glorfindel is 3/4 Vanya, and he married the sister of Elenwë (wife of Turgon), who is full Vanya. I made some rough calculations which reveals Itarildë as 22% Vanya, higher than any canon elf left in Middle-earth in the Third Age, save for Glorfindel himself (if you accept my HC that he's part Vanya). So yes, that's why the Dwarves were stunned and mesmerized by the golden hair of Anariel; it likely carries some "magic" in it. I have a self-indulgent HC that Gloin and Gimli would have had heated debates over whose hair was more beautiful--Galadriel's or Anariel's.
Anyway, apologies for my rambling Anon (and everyone who made it this far)! I have a thousand SotWK headcanons in my head that need to be unloaded sometimes to release the pressure. XD.
Anon, I would really love to give you a prize (as I promised) from the Tumblr Mart, any badge of your choice... but if you're not comfortable revealing yourself, I completely understand. Another option would be sending me another Ask and letting me know of a writer/artist whom you want to support, and I will buy them some KoFi on your behalf. Please let me know! :) Thank you again for participating in my little Guessing Game, and for your wonderful support!

That was really good!
Gosh, I have many thoughts, but I'm not sure how well I'll be able to articulate them given that I'm kind of tired at the moment.
So, my main love here is for the characters. I think people tend to sell Dungeon Meshi on its worldbuilding and I do get that (it's very complex and is quite well thought-out), but the characters are what really grabbed me. I don't think there was a single member of the main cast I didn't love. Laios is such a delightfully weird monster manual fanboy and I 100% agree with the people who say he feels neurodivergent and that this feels intentional. Senshi is awesome and it's very funny how the manga is extremely horny for him. Chilchuk brings a profound Divorced Dad energy to the cast that I think is great for bouncing off of the other characters. Izutsumi is interesting by how she contrasts with the earlier party members, I want to think about her role in the story more. I think she was kind of meant to give us an "outcast's perspective" of sorts? I think she's good at being that, but I feel like having blown through most of the manga in a few days may have hampered my appreciation of some of the more subtle aspects of her character.
Marcille, though, is my favorite; as someone who is also a really fussy eater and just kind of tightly-wound in general I found her really relatable. She's also super, super, super pretty and cute but we don't need to get into that right now. I cannot be the first person to point out how, when she becomes the dungeon lord, her behavior starts feeling extremely manic, right? I suffer from delusional episodes that include very difficult to ignore intrusive thoughts, and I thought the whole bit she went into about how being the dungeon lord feels felt very familiar in that respect, and it really hit home for me.
Tumblr media
(On the flip side, having your desires eaten by the demon seems similar to depression. I've been there, too.)
Other stuff! I like the whole overarching theme of eating both in the literal sense and as a general metaphor for going through one's life. In the very last chapter Marcille says something to the effect of, perhaps this journey was to teach us to accept death, and I don't think that's necessarily the entirety of what the series is going for, but that's part of it definitely. There's a whole circle of life thing going on here. The manga is very....sensory? Lots of focus on taste of course but also scent and feeling. Lots of really strong imagery along those lines throughout the entirety of it.
I set the worldbuilding aside earlier but it is super neat actually, also. I still don't love the general conceits of a western-style fantasy setup, but I think this is honestly about as well as it's possible to do this material. Everyone has a motivation for their actions that feels inspired by experience and history rather than just Dwarves Do X and Elves Do Y and so on. There's a LITTLE of that, but not nearly as much as is typical for this kind of thing. In particular, I liked the orcs. Their usage as a symbol is perhaps somewhat fraught (I'm not the person to make that call either way), but it felt like it was coming from a good place and they're just treated so much better here than comparable people in other media, idk. It felt nice to me.
The art! The art is fucking gorgeous, like, if I wanted to get someone to read this manga this is one of the things I'd mention. The entire dungeon feels so wonderfully lived-in and ancient. You can practically feel the stonework in some panels. (Sidebar here! The anime is really good at capturing this, do watch the anime it's fantastic.)
Some other random stray thoughts:
-The circumstances she gets it in obviously suck, but Marcille's dungeon lord outfit honestly serves hard and everyone should get off her case about it.
-I ended up liking the captain of the Canaries a lot more than I thought I would. He's just an interesting character all around.
-I also really love Sissel / Thistle / apparently how you romanize this is a source of some contention. I feel sooooo bad for the guy. He just wanted to keep everyone safe! It's not his fault that his idea of keeping everyone safe ended up being influenced by a lion-headed demon from outside of reality and corrupted into a suffocating hellscape for those same people! OK maybe it's a little his fault
-I like the diversity in appearances across the characters. This is a thing I wish more manga did this well.
-Laios' kingly titles in the final chapter, RANKED from MOST to LEAST badass: 1. Laios of the Three Heads (based as fuck, makes people ask questions when they hear about you in a history book several centuries down the line), 2. The Demon-Eater (badass and very specific) 3. The Vegetable-Armored (basically gets the same reaction as #1, but with a more comedic lean) 4. Demon King Laios (this honestly seems pretty disingenuous but it is dope) 5. The Dragon-Slayer (very generic, also not even the most impressive part of what he did) 6. The Lord of the Dungeon (Crusader Kings 2 auto-generated-ass name) 7. Pervy Tallman (this sounds like a bad comedian)
-I want to kiss Marcille on the lips
-who said that
-haha I wouldn't mind the Canaries coming to arrest me am I right fellow lesbians
-who said that (part 2)
anyway yeah really good manga highly recommended. I'm not sure if it's a (get out the scare quotes folks) "Personal Favorite" per se, but it might become one over time. Usually such things take a bit to settle with me. The fact that I have any interest in reading it again is a good sign, though. 90% of the time when I'm done with media I'm fine with never revisiting it again. Dungeon Meshi I would very much like to revisit, both in the form of the anime that's airing right now and also I think I'd like to re-read the manga in a few years when I'm at a different place in my life to see what I think of it a little farther down the line. I liked it a lot, and I think it will stick with me.

Whose your favorite characters from the fandoms you listed? Hope you have a good day :)
Tumblr media
I hope you had/have a great day too thank you so much 🥺 but
OH HO HO FRIEND THE FLOODGATES YOU HAVE OPENED.
My term for these individuals collectively is Blorbo High Council™ & every time I hyperfixate on a new character a seat is added. Absolutely feral for the chance to introduce them I’m so sorry
Presenting…Blorbo High Council™…or at least some members of it
• Abed Nadir- it kind of started right away because when I first started watching Community I had a huge crush on him lol not me exposing myself because I thought he was super cute & vibed with him. Every time I watched I was like That One™ *pointing Leo meme*. As time went on & things progressed in the show I felt even more of a connection to him, feeling like no character has made me feel as seen & validated as a person because wow, this person is living & describing experiences I’ve had & things I’ve felt like an outsider for & oh my gosh. Things that made me feel unfit & unseen & here they are being represented by a fictional character, someone others will see & love & that has always served as an escape for me. I’ve gone to fiction & lived in my own head since I was a kid so wow. I think that was part of why I fell so hard for him, it was like here’s someone I finally get & feel a connection to which is so hard for me to find irl. By extension Troy also gets a throne because those two are a package deal dangit 😤 plus I have a lot of feelings about Troy & how he’s such a good representation of going from your teens to your twenties, being more unabashedly yourself & learning that the world doesn’t revolve around you & you don’t have to perform & it’s just so 🥺
• Hobie Brown is just totally a type of character I like & I love his style as someone with something of an alt style too. The moment he entered the screen I thought ‘oh this one is going to be my favorite’ & guess what I WAS RIGHT. He’s just so sassy & funny & I love a character who spends a ton of their lines just doing a bit (because like many of us I’m convinced he was screwing with Miles during a bunch of his intro). Also seeing him with Mayday? My heart. Hobie’s the kind of character I have a whole playlist of songs I think he would like that I wish I could show him hehe
• Ever since first watching LoTR as a kid I loved Pippin! I tend to fall for funny characters & also I just related heavily to him, he’s clumsy, neurodivergent-coded, & my heart just breaks for how he gets treated sometimes. He’s a symbol for how war changes innocence & the maturity that develops from all the experiences the characters have. Since childhood I thought he was so cute & fell for his singing voice, I just love him so much! Plus his moment in the wedding scene is so funny it’s literally one of my favorites in the whole trilogy.
• From The Hobbit as much as I love Bilbo & the Line of Durin, Bofur was the one who managed to really snag & hold my heart! He’s such a sweetheart & one of the first dwarves to really show care for Bilbo. Such a kind jolly soul! Plus the hat. Literal boots with the fur. Iconic. Peak.
• Sergeant Carter is a longtime blorbo. I just loved his infectious whimsy & innocence & found him so adorable! Another neurodivergent-coded character that charmed me act shocked! But no I love a ‘dumb smart’ character who’s a genius in one area but clueless in others, I see it, I feel it, I love it. I must protect him at all costs!!! Except he can protect himself because he is the sweetest man but also loves arson & has the highest canonical kill count on the show by far. Duality of man 😌
• Radar, Klinger, & Father Mulcahy all hold special places in my heart! Especially in the later seasons as with all the characters, but my side character loving heart just adores all of them! Radar’s a cutie pie, Klinger’s costumes are amazing & he’s so funny, & the good father I just have a soft spot for 😌 William Christopher & I share a birthday too 😁
• Barley Lightfoot is a big part of why I love the movie Onward, like big huggable metalhead D&D nerd my beloved 😌 Second member of the playlist squad FOR SURE. I just know he listens to Nekrogoblikon. Another character I can both relate to & am incredibly endeared to. Poor guy being seen as the family screw-up, I feel like that’s me a bit being the ‘wasted potential’ sibling 😔 I just want to give him a hug so bad.
• Gladstone Gander is a character I’ve just randomly loved since I was maybe 13-15. I just found out about him & loved him for no explicable reason 😆 I have a pin of him & it’s one of my prized possessions lmaos. I was happy to see him included in the new Ducktales & even had an OC I shipped with him…but unfortunately I think I saw a spoiler with a canon character that may render that comfort character sort of moot 😔 y’all are like thank God now she won’t post about it 😂 maybe I’ll still keep her in my heart.
• Huey, Dewey, & Louie got seats in the council of course ☺️ I joke how it was my first experience having child blorbos & wanting to live vicariously through my OC (who is family to them) & spoil them instead of my usual doodling hearts around them like with most blorbos 😆 the triplets are so cute & I love how they all have their interests. Of course I have a soft spot for Huey because he’s adorable & my friend recommended I watch Ducktales just because I love his voice actor… ya girl also just loves nerds 🥰
• I love the whole Moon Knight system of course but I’m a Steven Grant Girlie at heart!!! Once again, cute nerds…
• From BG3 well none of them have *fully* seated at the high council but my favorites thus far would have to be Karlach, Gale, & Halsin feat. Astarion because why not??? I want someone with a personality like Gale or Karlach in real life tbh
• My favorite Brooklyn Nine Nine character kinda changes??? & same as BG3, maybe not full high council membership but characters I’ve loved for almost 5 years now so very special! I like Charles but overall Jake & Amy have my heart. I love their relationship & they’re both so funny! It’s a bit of a joke with friends too that my personality is a mix of both of them & I look like I could be their child 😂 having Peraltiago as parents sounds like so much fun hehe

gimli!!!!!! also luthien and beren!!!!!? mb legolas and thranduil too….
oh my gosh how exciting
Gimli
one aspect about them i love: His poetry—just the way he speaks. He's this chivalrous knight errant. He's a little grumpy and he's very serious and he loves legolas so so so much
one aspect i wish more people understood about them: He's a bit silly! But like not! he's not a bumbling buffoon! goddamn you peter jackson! BUT he is still funny—both because he makes genuinely funny jokes, but also because he takes himself so seriously, and lord of the rings loves gently and lovingly making fun of the kind of epic ballad it is
one (or more) headcanon(s) i have about this character: I think he also keeps a journal during the quest ;-; and passages from his journal made it into the lord of the rings—the glittering caves speech, specifically, comes directly from his writing
one character i love seeing them interact with: Legolas!! Legolas :) they're so sweet with each other and they're so in love with the world one character i wish they would interact with/interact with more: ANY other dwarves! Poor guy is completely alone for the whole quest—even legolas meets more elves along the way. What's he like around his family?? his people?? does he have a mother? Sisters? I think he has sisters. one (or more) headcanon(s) i have that involve them and one other character: Legolas perches himself on Gimli throughout the journey—like collapsing into his arms when he doesn't feel like walking anymore, sitting on his shoulder, resting his elbows on Gimli's head—just constant casual physical contact. It wasn't mentioned because it wasn't relevant to Frodo's journey
I'll put the rest in their own posts I think :)

Discord Highlights: Bilbo Gamgee
From a discussion on 4/28/23
meg is me:
Headcanon for no reason that Bilbo Gamgee is like my own bby cousin who spoke zero words until he was like 2 and a half and then suddenly decided to talk one day and turns out he had been building quite the vocabulary 😂
InvisibleWashboard:
That goes well with our previously established chaos gremlin lore, I think.
meg is me:
is baby bilbo autistic. Maybe. Yes.
InvisibleWashboard:
Yo, so for some reason for YEARS I have thought Pippin's wife is autistic. Don't know where that came from or why, but it's firmly stuck in my head.
meg is me:
Little bilbo gets it into his curly little head that dwarves WILL come to his house one day and he's always watching for them Gimli and Legolas come for a visit one time Bilbo goes WILD with excitement IT'S TIME that it is one dwarf and an elf and not 13 and a wizard bothers him not a trifle
Me:
Bilbo swiftly gets himself into a wrestling match with Gimli
InvisibleWashboard:
And Legolas and Gimli definitely take him on a mini adventure while they're visiting.
Writing Valkyrie:
He asks Gimli about his beard.
Me:
*Mean Girl voice* “Oh my GOSH, Bilbo, you can’t just ask people why they have beards!”
Writing Valkyrie:
He wants to know for when he has his own beard! Gimli is like, "Um, lad, I don't know if you'll have a beard." But still teaches him anyways..
Me:
Where’s that headcanon post about the Brandybucks being the only hobbits who can grow even a little bit of facial hair, and Merry is inordinately proud that he has three chin hairs he’s gotta shave every day??
InvisibleWashboard:
Estella absolutely makes fun of him relentlessly for this.
Writing Valkyrie:
He treats 'em with the same importance and respect as the three hairs Galadriel gave Gimli.
meg is me:
Little bilbo asks to see the map of The Mountain and the key and everything and Gimli is like.... here's a Gondor map? And bilbo is like YES but you gotta put a dragon on it and Gimli is like I borrowed this from aragorn I can't deface it and Legolas is like I personally will draw you a dragon little hobbit child
Legolas can't draw
InvisibleWashboard:
Legolas not being able to draw is giving me fits.
meg is me:
I imagine little Bilbo being adamant that he is BILBO And he wants Bilbo's adventure When he leaves the house he forgets his handkerchief on purpose just so he can say he forgot it 😂 He loves Gimli because Dwarves are essential to The Bilbo Story He hears Legolas is from Mirkwood and he is OVER THE MOON
Me:
This is 100% in keeping with Tolkien’s own epilogue (in which all the Gamgee kids are nearly carbon copies of their namesakes) (Except for Frodo Gamgee, who is a carbon copy of Sam)
Windmill to the Stars:
Frodo simply cannot be copied
meg is me:
Elanor is more like Frodo than her brother is
Me:
this is why she’s Frodo’s favorite in the Magnolia AU
meg is me:
Help i am becoming obsessed with autistic!Bilbo Gamgee
InvisibleWashboard:
No help, just encouragement in your obsession.
Windmill to the Stars:
Now we all have our favorite bbys XD
meg is me:
He can RECITE "there and back again" Or at least large portions of it
Bilbo jr wants to be a spider killer but Elanor hates killing things and he refuses to make his sister sad
"Dad" "Yes, lad?" "Dad i dont think I want to kill a spider" "You don't have to, son" "You did." does sam admit the spider might still be alive
Me:
no. that just makes it worse
Windmill to the Stars:

I would love to hear more about your metal band AU! That sort of AU is absolute catnip to me.
gosh I ended up using all of my ideas for this reverse summer bang event last year, the fic made for it is linked on the post below:
my prompt for this was "Bilbo gets picked, against all odds, to work as the lyricist for the dwarves' metal band" :P

Hi! I’m a-random-nerd, you can call me Star if you want. Saw you reblogged that post about wanting more asks so that’s what this is :)
I followed you for lotr stuff, and I was wondering what you think about the differences between the book and movie versions of the Hobbit?
I personally have only read the book (multiple times) and I’m planning on watching the movies, but from what I’ve seen (in posts) they added in a fair bit of characterization of their own for the dwarves and especially Thorin. Does that line up with your experience or do you think the movies stay pretty true to the book character-wise?
I’m free to talk about lotr and especially the Hobbit anytime if that’s soemthing you would also like :) hope you’re having a good day!
hii Star!! im so happy you decided to send an ask, it brings me so much joy!
and oh gosh.. i could talk about this topic for HOURS. if i honestly had the talent to formulate my thoughts into a whole video essay i would... but i shall do my best!
so i have seen both the movies and read the book (am rereading and reading in my native language) and i think i truly love them equally! they have a special place in my heart now ever since i randomly decided to rewatch the movies a couple of years ago now.
there is of course a lot of controversy surrounding the hobbit trilogy which i think is not quite fair compaired to the lotr trilogy. again am no expert in storytelling or filmmaking for that matter but as a simple fan and viewer i too can judge of what i like about the adaptations. and you are correct! they put a lot of characterization for the dwarves to make them into more like their own individuals and have personality. they are all so lovable and they did a really great job with them.. and especially getting thorin's story and presence across very well. from hearing the stories and thoughts from the cast of the dwarves especially, you can feel how dedicated they were to the job of bringing their characters and this story to life.
now the big controversy and difference of these films being the changes in the story, adding in characters that were not there originally and pre-production being a bit of a mess with warner bros. some major differences in desolation of smaug the most i think... that legolas is there, theres a love story between tauriel and kíli, some differences with bilbo's encounter with smaug, also the more emphasis of the arkenstone. now i know its also controversal of all the cgi in the film compared to the lotr trilogy but honestly, it was in an era when cgi was the big thing to have in movies in the 2010's i believe. it does not excuse from being a bit too much cgi when there could of been some practial stuff instead maybe.
but the films for what they are i think are really fun and entertaining and i wont pretend they are...to me they are really good in their own way as a tolkien book adaptation. so my biggest problem with the controversy being people who claim all the problems with the hobbit dont hold the same towards the lotr trilogy, that i mean with story changes that would deem it "not a faithful adaptaion", to me lotr trilogy is not really a faithful adaptation if you look at it literally, its really good because its made well in its own way the best they thought they could make it... but does not mean its perfect. the hobbit isnt perfect either, but again, its really good for what they managed to make from interpreting the original book. there as also another thing of that the hobbit didnt need to be a trilogy but honestly, being the massive nerd i am, i want that.. give me more.
now i could talk about thorin FOR DAYS even but to summarise for those who have to read all of this. i love how they made thorin in the movies.. a little different maybe how he is in he book, the thing about making him about middle-aged instead hasnt bothered me. the actor, richard armitage who has quickly become a favourite of mine, put a lot of dedication to his role as thorin from having a personal connection to the book and it just warms my heart seeing that love and care for it, from the whole main cast really.. i love them dearly. i saw the movies when they came out in theatre when i was a pre-teen and i was blown away from seeing it.. and years later when i found my way back again and reading the book as well, can't do anyhing but love it. it is not a faithful book-to-film adaptation but i think its really great, its linear and as the original plot points.. if you just want a fun watch i believe the movies are great, if you ever want to discuss if you end up seeing the movies, dont hesitate to come around again!
im sorry if i strayed too much from main question and ive tried to summarise the best i can.. i shall add on if i remember more things i could bring up! hope this was something to read at least! <33

Aragorn and Thranduil react to human s/o getting bullied for their dwarf-like physique:
Anon: Could you please write some Headcanons for Thranduil and Aragorn reacting to their s/o getting bullied and compared to a dwarf by some of their guards? Like their s/o is really short, muscular and interested in smithing and making swords so everyone compares them to a dwarf even though they're human? I especially like the idea that their s/o is like "so? Dwarves are cool"
Type: Headcanon
Warnings: None
Characters: Aragorn and Thranduil
Tumblr media
Aragorn
Once he found out that his s/o was being bullied for being shorter than most of the guards and yet stronger; he was astounded by their insolence. Aragorn had always supported his s/o and their interests in smithing and crafting, that it truly bothered him when a group of guards turned towards judgement.
He would immediately ponder on how he should confront them, although his s/o didn’t really care about what they said, it still burdened him knowing they would continue their day as if they didn’t just disrespect the one person he truly loves.
So without anything thoroughly planned out, Aragorn would barge into the guards’ courters and confront them. At first they would try to explain to him as to why they would say such a thing, but Aragorn wasn’t hearing any of that. Even one particularly bold guard, stated that his s/o looked like the dwarves from the near by mountains.
And with that Aragorn would have to remind himself to keep his calm, because what they had said was meant to be an insult towards his s/o, but if anything it was offensive towards the dwarves. Making it seem as though there was something wrong with that particular physique.
“And what’s wrong with looking more muscular anyhow? The half of you have a long way to go before you become as skilled of a bladesmith and fighter as they are!”
Tumblr media
Thranduil
He would immediately lose complete respect towards his elvish guards that made such preposterous claims regarding his s/o. Thranduil would have all parties that were involved summoned to his throne room urgently to have a thorough discussion. And of course he would invite his s/o to  the said discussion, so they could witness him defending their honor.
After hearing what they all had been saying for his own ears, he was devastated by how “ruthless” they were by comparing his s/o to the dwarves, of all things. Thranduil would go into defense mode, trying to explain how ridiculous they were being and that he does not tolerate this kind of behavior. He would even go to the point of considering lower their ranks, which would immediately cause complaints amongst his elvish guards whom he has known for many thousands of years.
Whilst doing this all in front of his s/o, he would demand them to make a formal apology, otherwise they can forget keeping said ranks. Meanwhile, his s/o who had already forgiven the guards, who were now begging for forgiveness, didn’t see an issue to begin with. Being compared to a dwarf truly wasn’t the end of the world, but to Thranduil it was.
Eventually, Thranduil would get over what they had said and everything would go back to normal, except he would keep an extra close eye on those particular guards that were judgmental. And ever since he would begin to check on his s/o often and make sure they didn’t lose their confidence.
@tolkien-fantasy
Oh my gosh, thank you so much for requesting this, it was so much fun to write! If you have any more wonderful ideas, please send them my way! I hope you enjoyed, and have a great day!

Also, can I make a bit of a defense for Aurora (Sleeping Beauty)?
Like, there are a lot (A LOT) of flaws with the movie and the character that I absolutely agree with. Very valid criticisms.
But out of all the Disney Princesses, Aurora is the most alone. There is literally not a single character on her side in that movie. And by "on her side" I mean cares about her wants and need, cares about autonomy. (Except maybe Phillip, but that's someone she barely knows). She doesn't even have an animal sidekick that's with her all the time.
Like, she grew up with the only people to talk to being the Three Fairies. She thought she was going to have a pretty normal life. Except, nope, her Father who she has never met and cannot know his temperment is the King. And not only is he demanding her back at the castle she doesn't remember being in, she is told she has to marry a Prince she doesn't know. That's terrifying.
And what do the three women who raise her do? Force her to go. Like, they are literally there dressing her up as she is sobbing. She doesn't want this but they just pat her and tell her she's gotta do it. The people who raise her might look at her with pity, but they aren't gonna help her get out of this. She doesn't know anything about her father and he could be an incredibly cruel person. (I'm sure the textile workers of the country don't think positively of him).
Like, I'm not really sure what Aurora COULD do to escape her situation. With what skills is she supposed to escape a King? Is she supposed to scale the wall? And I would be afraid to piss off a King, I can see her being afraid since she has literally never met the man. Not to mention the fairies seem to think she is supposed to be THERE. Wouldn't they just drag her back?
She's just sixteen and has no one. Who can she turn to? Animal companions she is only shown with once? That aren't even named? The random boy she met once in the woods that she was supposed to meet again? Not like he knows where she is.
Like, Cinderella has her fairy Godmother and the mice to help her.
Snow White has the dwarves.
Aurora literally has no one.
And yeah, the story turns out well in the end. Her Dad isn't an ass. Prince Phillip turns out to be the guy in the woods. But gosh, she couldn't have known that. She just knew that she had no power over her situation.
And, like, there are still so many problems with her character, but I just really like her. She is NOT a heroine. But not every person gets to be a heroine.
You see, this is what I'm talking about though. Her problems in the end aren't really problems or struggles. Everything magically works out for her in the end to which she had no hand in. She was panicking and sad for like, a day, 98% of which was because she can't like a boy she talked to for 20 minutes off screen (she showed no sign of being worried about how the king would be), before falling victim to the sleeping curse. When she woke up suddenly she's a rich princess with kind parents marrying the boy she loved in the forest who turned out to be the prince the entire time. No lesson, no adversaries, no actions taken by her. The one who faces a challenge to conquer with stakes in the end is Phillip.
She has the literal opposite of "no one". Every single character except for the actual villain is on her side even if she doesn't know it yet.
She could've at least tried to put up a fight against the fairies to show some backbone, but she silently goes along with them and stays still and cries. She can be shown TRYING to run away at least, even if she doesn't succeed, but she doesn't. I don't need her to be a sword wielding badass, I need her to have determination.
And yeah, the problem is that she SHOULD be a heroine, should be the maker of her own story- she is the main character to which the movie is named after. But sadly she isn't, which is the problem. She has a complete and utter lack of agency for the entire movie which is disappointing.
Again, like what you like! These are just my thoughts on her.

I just wanted to say how much I adore Glim! I love gnomes, halflings, and dwarves (even if tieflings have me in a stranglehold rn lmao) as is but she really is so unique! I had a question about her and maybe I've missed a post where you went into it, but how did Glim get the scars on her face?
Oh my gosh thank you, this is the first message I've got unprompted about her, this is so special!
I've actually not ever spoken about it, but I am thinking it will come up in-fic when they go into the Underdark. It's an injury she got as a child. Her mother, Tilsedie, was an adventurer who took her on some of her jobs and on one of them Glim wandered off and got caught in a Bibberbang field. She was eventually found but it was too late to avoid permanent scarring.
She was born in Silverymoon and was seen as a bit of a soft Topsider by her mother and her adventuring crew, which is probably fair - compared to them, she is quite reserved and nervous. But maybe those nerves are for good reason!
