Kanji of the day: 最
最 - Utmost, most, extreme
Kun: もっと.も、つま
On: サイ、シュ
(Pinyin: zuì | zui4 )
Pictophonetic: 取 indicates the sound (qǔ | qu3), and 宀 (roof) indicates the meaning
This kanji originally meant "gather" and was written 㝡, and would've been fairly easy to memorize due to it double-functioning as an ideograph; to put something 取 (take, fetch) under roof 宀. Later additional strokes were added below the 宀 component, possibly to depict things gathered. This was then simplified into 曰, making the kanji 最.
Over time, the meaning shifted into " to accumulate", and from there to "accumulated" -> "many" -> and then to our modern usage "most".
(最 / 㝡 as it was written during the Qin dynasty (221-206 BC), note the 宀 with additional strokes )
Strokes: 12
Radical: 曰 say

An Indian Raja made a deal to give a girl named Rani one grain of rice doubled each day for 30 days. This beautiful story is a wonderful mathematical inquiry! With grade four children, we explored this book in depth. How many grains of rice did Rani receive after 30 days? Did she make a good deal? Lots of great discussion and addition operations emerged from this exploration!

I love my grade 4 kids this semester, and have had a blast with my intro teaching practicum. But, if I ever say I WANT to teach anyone older than 8yo, please slap me because I am not mentally equipped to handle any of the either social or physical issues that come with students going through puberty.
And I'm genuinely so touched that this one little girl in my class trusts me enough that I'm who she came to when confused and panicking this morning. And my teacher mentor said I dealt with the situation better than he could. But I don't want to ever have to be in that kind of situation ever again. Nope. Can't handle it.

Okay so these were my grade 4 books and I want to know (more) about them:
“Castle in the Attic”
a crabbing book about (a) kid(s) discovering a company spilling oil into the waters and/or over-crabbing?
a book that tasted like chocolate that was about chocolate I’m pretty sure but I can’t remember this one’s name either ):

can't believe garak went from 'hope you have fun following my little breadcrumb trail of maybe-truths doctor it builds character ;)' at the beginning of the show to '*sigh* fuck it here's the whole loaf. the entire fucked up bakery of my soul. if you somehow still wanna have sex with me after this you know where I am, yours in infinite longing etc.' in a stitch in time. has anyone ever been so pathetically horrifically enduringly down bad as garak is for julian (laudatory)
