I thought for a long time about how to approach the Mannequin cosplay. There are a number of difficulties there:

1. Height 8′ 10″

2. Inhuman proportions

3. Inhuman mobility both when moving and parts of the body relative to each other.

All this together led me to the conclusion that a person (even on stilts) will not be able to convincingly show a Mannequin. And then the idea of a rod puppet arose.

In the video, you can see a sample hastily assembled from cardboard and mops (the working puppet will be made of a different material).

Besides the fact that we had fun, I noted a few things for myself:

1. The pelvis should not be separate from the body, as it creates an unnecessary degree of freedom.

2. It is better to attach the puppet’s legs not to the legs of the person controlling the body but to make separate control rods for them (minus: this increases the number of puppeteers)

3. The head must be able to move not only in the horizontal plane but also in the vertical.

4. The prototype does not have hands and feet, but they are needed. It is worth trying to attach control rods of the upper extremities to the hands, which should make gestures with the hand possible. This hypothetically allows for more interesting and “live” hand movements.

There are other points that I introduced into my developments later.

so a while ago I did a drawing of Anisa w/ the intention of doing something similar for the rest of the Starsworn, but I got uh. sidetracked. for two years. anyway by the time I got back to it I didn't love the original anymore, and it didn't fit w/ what I had in mind for the others, so I redid it! finally.

(I lost the original post when I switched to a sideblog and I'm too lazy to go looking for it but the og drawing is under the cut!)

I still like some parts of the old version but the new one is closer to what I was going for! this was also before I read the wiki and saw the Q+A post w/ everyone's elements

I am on a roll this week with wearing lolita. Threw on a casual coordinate to go get groceries and do some basic shopping after several days of heavyheavy rain.

Despite being a cutsew JSK, this dress from GRAMM absolutely defies even my EXPLOSIVE VIOLENCE!! petticoat from Classical Puppets. It has such a huge, gored skirt shape. The hem is massive. It's also a PITA to block after washing, and inevitably requires steaming and tugging to make sure the jersey lines up with the plainweave lining.
