Nitty Gritty Dirt Band Announces ALL THE GOOD TIMES: The Farewell Tour
Tumblr media
For nearly six decades, the three-time GRAMMY® Award-winning Nitty Gritty Dirt Band has entertained audiences with their top-shelf musicianship and timeless hits “Mr. Bojangles,” “Fishin' In The Dark,” “An American Dream,” and many more. And now, the time has come for the band who has carried a torch for American country and roots music to say so long to the highways and byways they’ve crossed an unimaginable number of times throughout their career.    On March 21st, 2024, the Dirt Band will kick off the first leg of their last traditionally scheduled gigs, ALL THE GOOD TIMES: The Farewell Tour. No need to fret, this isn’t goodbye forever, but it will be the last fans see of multi-city runs and long bus rides from the group that helmed the multi-artist Will The Circle Be Unbroken series that featured the likes of Mother Maybelle Carter, Doc Watson, Earl Scruggs, Emmylou Harris, Taj Mahal, Levon Helm, and dozens more.    “‘All The Good Times’ perfectly describes our career,” said the band in a statement this week. “Playing our music for Dirt Band fans all over the world has been an incredible experience for us. The most important part of that has been the connection to our audience—that beautiful communal give and take is like nothing else. That's the very spirit we'll be celebrating as we head into our farewell tour. We really look forward to seeing you folks. Good times will be had by all!”    About Nitty Gritty Dirt Band: With one of the best lineups in the group’s storied history, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, featuring founding members Jeff Hanna (lead vocals, guitar) and Jimmie Fadden (drums, harmonica, vocals); longtime bandmate Bob Carpenter (keys, vocals)—a member since 1980; along with Jim Photoglo (bass, vocals); Jaime Hanna (guitar, vocals); and Ross Holmes (fiddle, mandolin, vocals); remains one of the most accomplished bands in American roots music. The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band played their first gig in 1966 in Southern California as a jug band and by 1969 had become a cornerstone of the burgeoning country-rock community. Their career breakthrough came in 1970 with the release of the record Uncle Charlie & His Dog Teddy and the single “Mr. Bojangles,” a folksy Top 10 pop hit that brought roots music to the national forefront. In 1972, they released the first of three groundbreaking Will The Circle Be Unbroken records, collaborating with many of the best bluegrass, country, and folk artists in the world. The band also has enjoyed vast success on the U.S. Country charts with hits like "Fishin' In The Dark," "Modern Day Romance," and "Long Hard Road." The Dirt Band are GRAMMY, CMA, and IBMA Award winners, and their Nitty Gritty Dirt Band & Friends - Fifty Years, Circlin' Back! for PBS was an Emmy Award-winning television special. The Dirt Band’s latest album, Dirt Does Dylan—released in 2022—has received widespread critical acclaim. More at nittygritty.com/history. Read the full article

, My beloved little schnitzel, @KimPetras, became a #GrammyAward-winning recording artist last night for “#Unholy,” which she was featured by @SamSmith on! I’ve been a fan of her’s for years and have been fortunate enough to meet her a few times (she even remembered me the second time) before some of her shows and can confidently tell you she’s a complete sweetheart. After knowing her story and how hard she worked to have her talent be known and taken seriously, I couldn’t be happier for her win. Well-deserved and even harder earned recognition for an amazing artist, who just so happens to be the first out #transgender person to win this category of Pop Duo/Group Performance (the same award @GwenStefani, one of her idols she’s spoken about, previously won twice with @NoDoubt). A huge win for not just her and the #trans community, but for the representation of the entire #LGBTQ+ community. I hope she celebrated her #historic win well alongside her loved ones last night. 👸🏼 . . . . . . . #KimPetras @RecordingAcademy #SamSmith #Grammys #GrammyAwards #GwenStefani #NoDoubt #LGBT #LGBTCommunity #Queer #QueerCommunity #LGBTQCommunity #TransRights #BrokenTour #ClarityTour #MarcJacobs @MarcJacobs @TheMarcJacobs @LAMB #LAMBbyGwenStefani (at Crypto.com Arena) https://www.instagram.com/p/CoWNU8Yrxx7/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Gaither Vocal Band Earns 2023 GRAMMY Award Nomination For Best Roots Gospel Album
Tumblr media
Gaither Vocal Band has earned a GRAMMY nomination for Best Roots Gospel Album for Let’s Just Praise the Lord (Gaither Music Group), produced by Bill Gaither and Gordon Mote. Bill and Gloria Gaither and GVB have collectively received eight GRAMMY Awards and more than two dozen nominations, including this second consecutive Best Roots Gospel Album nomination, following last year’s That’s Gospel, Brother project nod. Stream/download/purchase Let’s Just Praise The Lord HERE. “I am so proud of the young men in the Vocal Band,” stated three-time Gospel Music Association (GMA) Hall of Fame member and group founder Bill Gaither.  “It’s always an honor to be nominated, especially with the caliber of folks in our category this year. I have the utmost respect for all of the nominees and wish them all the best!” The Recording Academy will present the The 65th GRAMMY Awards live on CBS Sunday, Feb. 5, from the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, and stream live and on demand on Paramount+. The GRAMMY news follows an October GMA Dove Award win for Gaither Vocal Band, who took home the Southern Gospel Recorded Song of the Year award at the Nashville ceremony for “My Feet Are on the Rock” from the GRAMMY-nominated album That’s Gospel, Brother. The song, produced by Bill Gaither and ACM Award winner Gordon Mote, was a Top 5 radio hit. The Gospel Music Hall of Famers have garnered more than two dozen Dove Awards. The legendary group has just recorded a new single “Shine (The Darker the Night the Brighter the Light)” scheduled for digital release on November 25. “This is a very important song with a powerful idea that I believe with all my heart,” says Bill Gaither. “The world has never been stable, and according to God’s Word it is not going to be stable. We are called to be God’s light — to shine — in an unstable culture. Do we really believe and live out the power of love and grace? Every now and then we say about a song ,‘this is a special idea that can make a difference in the way we live.’ I think this is one of those songs.” The quintet has released four new Christmas singles on digital streaming platforms including “Jesus, What a Lovely Name,” “My Heart Would Be Your Bethlehem,” “Tennessee Christmas” and “Mary Was the First One to Carry the Gospel” with three more on the way between now and Christmas. Videos of each of the songs can be found on the Gaither Music TV YouTube channel (over 2.7M followers) and on the Gaither FB page (over 1.7M followers). The group is seen weekly on numerous TV networks including PBS, DIRECTV, Dish TV, RFD-TV, Trinity Broadcasting Network and many others throughout the United States and Canada. Gaither Vocal Band is completing its fall tour at present and will kick off its seven-stop Christmas tour on December 1 in Hershey, PA. They will be performing songs from their 2021 Christmas album All Heaven And Nature Sing, in addition to other Christmas classics. All recordings by Gaither Vocal Band are distributed by Capitol Christian Music Group and Universal Music. Read the full article
