Wooden Kašča with cellar
Kamnik, Slovenia
This unusual 19th-century granary is elevated atop a tall masonry base providing additional cellar storage. Its asymmetrical roof extension once protected stored wood or other farm materials, or a workspace. The horizontal timbers at the base of the raised granary extend outward into this covered area, giving support to other spanning members. The original condition of this kašča, and its semi-enclosed extension, is depicted in documentation of the Tuhinj Valley granaries by Slovenian ethnographers Majda and Peter Fister (1969, 1973).

Espigueiro at the village of Soajo;
Espigueiro means “高床式穀倉”(raised-floor granary) in Japanese. It was mainly made of stone and used in the Galicia region of Spain and northern Portugal in the days when there were no refrigerators. It is raised off the ground by posts to prevent rodent intrusion. In Galicia they are called Hórreo.
A few days later we will see Oreos in the fishing village of Combarro in Galicia.

A sunny day by the milky gate Brama Stągiewna
The Brama Stągiewna, aka "Milk Can Gate" got its name for the design, not any market. Stągiew is Polish for 'Milk Can", and the two towers looks like milk cans of old.
The original three tower gate was built to defend the storage facilities on Granary Island in 1519. They got a touch of renaissance flair a century later, and later stood as a reminder of the old city layout.
As every other old structure in Gdansk, it was damaged during the spring of 1945 at the end of WWII in Europe. The area and the surrounding buildings are part of an gentrification process that may change the appearance severily.
