#thank you tumblr #tumblr live #just learned today that the boiler we had installed last December when the old one blew up and backed up on us and flooded the kitchen #was installed poorly and is leaking water and is technically unsafe because of a missing bracket/arm which means it's not sealed #and because it's 12+ months after the work was done (just!!) we can't make a claim through checkatrade #for the shitty work #it was already two grand's worth of outlay last year and it's gonna be a lot to get the shitty work fixed and made safe/right #i hate adulting #ghosti's ranting in the tags #but yeah at least tumblr live is going! #whooo #thank you staff for listening

I am finally back in a sketching mood and getting my left-arm muscle-memory used to using my Cintiq and drawing in Photoshop. Am also still (still) working on the last bits of Ages because next year it will be TEN YEARS since I started that fic. And I intend to conclude it (part one, anyway) by (preferably before) 2024.

len coming back from the dead to find barry in his mid-30s really does have unmatched comedic potential. if he had one thing going for him it was that barry was almost half his age but now? now most people wouldn't even bat an eye at the age difference and barry is acting like they're functionally at the same stage of their lives and len just cannot abide that

he goes hunting for a new list of reasons they couldn't actually work together, and a short interrogation over a next-morning, post-hookup cup of coffee makes it clear that barry has outsourced every part of his adult life that's not his family and being the flash ever since he inherited harrison wells's fortune, so he has no idea how to do his taxes, who his elected officials are, how STAR labs is keeping the electricity on, etc etc

len keeps trying to use it all as evidence that despite aging ten years, barry is still too young for him, meanwhile lisa is just tapping at a little calculator on her phone and when len gets to a break in the rant she goes "it says here that if you'd waited a few more years to come back, you would've been a millennial" & he kicks her out of his apartment and off his phone plan

#one thing i really wanted to do is show how like #all the stuff that happens on the Grand Scale TM with the Avengers #and even to a certain extent the things Matt does that affects the city at large #kinda snowball into all these things on street level #on top of those decisions tipping dominoes elsewhere #like White Coat's connection to Stryker #it's something i always liked about DD (and the other defenders) being a balance to the Big Guys #i like seeing all this stuff at street level where to a certain extent they're all down in the muck #DD did a lovely job of building that world and fleshing that out #and so it felt natural to do the same thing and take that *further* in TRT #we flesh the Kitchen out even more #here are the people who trust DD and the little churches dealing with rising tensions over enhanced people #here are the scrappy little runaways that don't trust SHIELD after DC and the little criminal fishes who just want to avoid Fisk #here's a SHIELD agent too low on the totem pole to be one of Coulson's and here's Jane whose best defense is literally running away #I LOVE being able to run all this alongside canon #ANYWAY #thank you so much for dropping this in my box #it made me so so happy! #the red thread

my mom's college is sooo nostalgic 😭

#i used to come here as a kid #when we had a holiday but mom and dad had jobs to mom would carry me and brother here #she has her own huge department and its separated from other staff rooms #and there's a huge blackboard that students would draw on with colorful chalks its still there 😭😭 #and frames of different anatomical structures #and the kitchen inside #and menu cards prepared by students all over #she's home science and english teacher so she has it all a bit of nutrition stitching and sewing cooking medicine table manners #chemistry biology literally everything #and the students prepared files with pretty covers and id pick out all the decorations from the files when they passed out #and in practicals mom would make them prepare tastiest dishes everyone got a sweet and one savory to prepare #and mom always has craziest idea she loves cooking so you can imagine the dishes i got to taste #the glass and foil paintings are still there 😭😭🥹🥹 #and the cutlery #there are lot more wall hangings now #and the one huge center table is reduced to two small tables #and the department has got one new teacher shes so young #i mean its not so grand but ofc its grand it contains my childhood #the canteen and bookstall don't work anymore no idea why the owners abandoned them after covid #im so 🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹 #im meeting my school friends here then we'll go shopping

my sister got me such a fun early birthday present this weekend! she took me to an event the theatre she works puts on called sensory cinema. basically they pick a movie to screen and have a catering company put together a several course meal inspired mostly by the food shown in the movie. the courses are brought to your seat as they become relevant in the movie. the portions are small, but there's enough of them that by the end you've eaten a full meal.

Red-tailed hawk. Douglas Douven. November 2015. This Red-tailed hawk was perched on a low branch overhanging the other side of the Grand river. I photographed it for several minutes when suddenly it did that famous "Scream!" that Red-tailed hawks do. The river is in a bit of a valley at this place so it's quiet and that sudden, stark, piercing scream was striking. I almost get goosebumps recollecting that moment. I feel very grateful and fortunate for the experience.
