Regrading Taskmaster: S02 E05 There's Strength in Arches.
*Score changes noted in parenthesis.
Prize Task: The best piece of memorabilia.
Doc brings in the rap he wrote for Myleen Klass. Amazing prize but memorabilia is usually meant to invoke history, not itself be it. Jon brings in a Roman coin and Alex destroys any sort of respect it could have commanded. Joe brings in a map of the Grand Union Canal signed by a lockkeeper. It's not great but it doesn't get torn down in the way Jon's coin does. Richard brings in a Jocky Wilson poster. I had to look up who this was, but no one is really running away with the category a this point. Katherine brings a suffragette coin. That's pretty great.
Tumblr media
Doc: 3 (+1) Joe: 2 (+1) Jon: 1 (-2) Katherine: 5 (+1) Richard: 4 (-1)
VT 01: Get all this shopping into the shopping trolley.
Nothing to really discuss here. Good for Joe.
Tumblr media
Doc: DQ Joe: 5 Jon: DQ Katherine: 3 Richard: 4
Team Task: Make the best stop-motion starring this potato.
28 Days Tater was a lot better than Spec Tater mostly due to being free of Joe's unenthusiastic voice acting. Probably should have been a 4-1 split.
Tumblr media
Doc: 1 (-1) Joe: 1 (-1) Jon: 4 (+1) Katherine: 1 (-1) Richard: 4 (+1)
VT 02: Make a bridge over the river using only items on this table.
It's sort of a shame Joe doesn't win the task that he provides the best quote for. Uncontroversial, objective measurement means no regrade.
Tumblr media
Doc: 4 Joe: 3 Jon: 5 Katherine: 1 Richard: 2
Live Task: Put on a pair of food handling gloves, eat a whole banana correctly, put on a tie, and clap as many times as possible.
The only task I've seen get edited in real time. It is funny that Katherine's protest unintentionally gets Joe disqualified.
Tumblr media
Doc: 4 Joe: DQ Jon: 2 Katherine: 3 Richard: 5
Final
Doc: 12 (0) Joe: 11 (0) Jon: 12 (0) Katherine: 13 (0) Richard: 19 (0)
Exact same scores as the original episode, just a little redistributed.
Series Scores
Doc: 78 (0) Joe: 63 (-6) Jon: 78 (-12) Katherine: 84 (-10) Richard: 86 (0)
Somewhat surprised that Katherine doesn't still come away with the win. The lesson here is that Richard does a lot better if the rabbit-in-hat task hadn't happened.
