I've decided to draw the Mario Family from the movie, as well as gave some of the members headcanon names!

Here is a non-text version and a couple o close ups

Some other headcanons I've come up with in the cut! (I just copy and pasted what I wrote on DeviantArt)

It's confirmed that Maurizio, Tony and Arthur are brothers, so it's clear that Lucy and Marie married into the family. My headcanon is that Marie married Arthur and had Nicola while Tony is single and ready to mingle. Stefano, along with his deceased wife, were immigrants from Sicily and Southern Italy respectively, making Maurizio, Arthur, and Tony second gen immigrants, and Mario, Luigi and Nicola third gen. Nicola is a little over a decade younger than Mario and Luigi.

I gave Tony green eyes because I thought he had green eyes to match Luigi's appearance in the Mario cartoons, but then realized it was just his glasses lens being tinted yellow. I still like that idea, so I went with it.

My headcanon for this particular piece is that Mario and Luigi's plumbing business became so successful since the incident that they surprised the family with a trip to Sicily...and maaaaybe they also have a few Mushroom Kingdom coins to cover some expenses...hey, gold is gold, right?

so much shit is going on with all sides of my family and I’m feeling very overwhelmed

When Tango goes back home for Winter Break his freshman year, he’s terrified, because he cut his hair.

His mom is surprised, and his nonna just smiles knowingly. Asks him what her new grandson’s name is. His mom looks at his nonna confused, before it clicks to her, and she asks are you sure?

Tango is sure.

He names himself after his nonno, because Nonno was the one to teach him how to skate, and then how to play hockey, and also football, the right football, none of this american football merda!.

Nonna and his mom are both emotional at that.

His father has never really been in the picture. His parents were never actually married, and it was just a co parenting thing, and Alexander Tangredi was never really parent material, and nobody really blamed him.

So Tango learned everything from his nonno, and that was alright. Nonno and Nonna Russo were wonderful people with a lot of love to give, and Tango’s mom was too. (Nonna insists Nonno would be so proud of his grandson, and would show off and brag about how his grandson was on the men’s hockey team at college, and was so smart, and- Tango misses his nonno in that moment, because he would, Tango knows he would.)

But his dad always comes over for Christmas and Christmas Eve, and this year, he’s coming over to having a son, and not a daughter.

He frowns, narrows his eyes, and doesn’t say anything.

After Tango goes to bed after dinner on Christmas Eve, he hears his mother blow up on his father for being rude, unsupportive, not even acknowledging he had a son-

He hears his father shouting back. He hears a few words flung around as slurs.

His father doesn’t come back over on Christmas, and his mom and grandmother insist that’s alright - he didn’t need him, never did.

When he gets back to campus after the New Year, he gets a letter in the mail addressed to Tony Tangredi.

It’s from his great uncle, from his mom’s side - the one still in Italy.

He doesn’t know how to feel about the man saying “just say the word, and your father won’t bother you anymore”.

Whiskey burns the letter for him.

was thinking abt sweet pea's government name, blinked, and now i'm researching ny state reservations and the demographics of early colonizers and oh how far away from nyc that i think riverdale would be and i can pull up a map and compare the reservations that exist near the radius that i've deemed a likely distance from the city and then i can read about those tribes and note the surnames of the tribal leaders and make note of which ones start with M and i can look up the origins of those surnames and then ill look up popular baby names from 1999-2001 that start with N but that feels incomplete so i'll look into-

He will need a change of clothes after this. Ichor stains never do wash out.

Though he supposed he hadn't needed to make it quite so bloody as all that. Yet, when one returned home after so many years away to find that home overrun with vermin, one could be forgiven for not practicing ideal levels of restraint.

Evidently the next would-be attacker thought him oblivious to their approach. He made no move to alert them otherwise. Not until some unusually mobile roots had sent the creature face first into the dirt. Then, with one fluid motion, the fools body was divested of its head.

There are sounds of fighting not far off. No wonder then that he'd run into these stragglers, who had likely taken him for the same. Against all of what was likely common sense, he followed the shouts and crash of weaponry until he reached the melee. From there, he cut an unrelenting path towards the nearest camp as attackers fell to his blade, or crumpled as their minds were crushed in an iron grip. None would bar his path, not until he'd had some questions answered.

Ah, but it had really been too long.

There is a voice he well recognises calling out orders, and he follows it, taking a demon-hound's claw to his robe for his trouble.

"Dearest cousin," he greeted her, wiping viscera from his hands with the edge of his now ruined coat. What a surprise it is to find an unfamiliar, and functioning, eye in that otherwise familiar face when he at last has her attention. "Could I perhaps be of some assistance?"

So on one hand rereading all this MCU fic does make me wanna finish, edit, and publish the fic I had so much inspiration for back in, oh, summer of 2016. On the other hand, it turns out I just completely forgot about some characters from AoS, which is fine because I don't need them in my fic, but like this is just reminding me of how I don't really wanna rewatch that show.

#Problem: My fic is a crossover from the Iron Man movies (love the bots) and the Thor movies (love all the non-fridging parts) but there's a #side fic that is a Howlies family reunion. Which means Captain America movies‚ Agent Carter show and short‚ like two seasons of AoS (Tripp #lives‚ duh) and the Iron Man movies. #Like..... #I wish I was innately good at voice so I didn't feel the need to study. #Forever mad that the MCU did NOTHING about all the 90 year olds Steve would have known in the 2010s except to make us cry over Peggy Carter #and then kill her. #_MY_ grandfather was a WWII vet and he didn't die until COVID at the end of 2020. #Anyways there's Antoine Triplett and Sharon Carter and apparently Morita's grandkid is the principal of Peter Parker's school but I haven't #seen those movies and because I say so there's Rebecca Barnes and Ana Jarvis and of course Peggy Carter. #My fic contradicts itself on if Angie (Peggy's romantic partner of course) is still alive. "That vet doesn't know what he's saying! How could he even say that?!" Max angrily said, holding Mimi like one would hold a baby, with Mimi's head resting on Max's shoulder.

Meanwhile, Evie and Charles were holding Jimmy and Sassy, amused at how Max was reacting to what the veterinarian had said. "Max, it's not really a big deal—" Charles tried saying, but Max cut him off.

"Not a big deal?! He called Mimi—" Max cut himself off so he could adjust Mimi to cover her ears (as if she could understand what he was saying) and whisper, "overweight,"

"He just suggested to make her portions of food smaller and to take more walks," Evie tried saying to calm Ma down but to no avail.

"Smaller portions?! Does he want her to starve? Also, Mimi is very active, she goes on runs with us every time and she loves it!" Max argued.

"Maxie, I'm not arguing with you, I'm just saying that he only suggested it, and we don't have to follow it," Evie told him, and thankfully, it helped in calming his anger, no matter how amusing found how angry he got for Mimi.

As the three started walking to the car, Charles and Evie could just hear Max cooing to Mimi. "We're not going to listen to him, you are beautiful just the way you are," he quietly reassured the dog, who was not aware of what just happened.

Evie turned to Charles and said, "Remember when Max said he didn't know if he could love Mimi as much as he loves Jimmy and Sassy when you first got him?"

Charles nodded and said, "Now I'm starting to think that he might love Mimi more than he loves us,"

RWRB Thoughts: Height Difference

Today on Meraki's rwrb thoughts because this movie and book are implanted in my brain now, we're talking about the movie size difference

Don't get me wrong, book height firstprince is adorable, but there's just something about the movie height difference that just feels so special.

The thing is, the height difference between movie firstprince, or in other words Taylor and Nick's height difference isn't that big (ok I tried to search online for the precise number but there are a bunch of different fucking answers in different units but my point still stands you can see it)

But somehow, it's so prominent when you put them two together, especially when they're holding each other.

And think about it from Henry's perspective: Henry's not small. He's taller than both his siblings and his best friend Percy. he's about the exact same height as Shaan and as much as I know they care deeply about each other, at the end of the day, that's his equerry, his employee. His grandfather is taller than him, but that's the King, so that comes with this sense of authority and intimidation. So in most cases, he's the taller one, the bigger one. The one that has to be the support, the one that has to stand on his own. (so essentially my "oldest daughter/sister" rant but when it comes to height)

But when with Alex, suddenly he's the smaller one. To the man who would fight the whole world to protect him, to make him happy, the man who he loves and who loves him more than anyone in the world. Look at how Alex holds Henry: he curls around him, almost like a shield.

"You don't need your armour anymore, I'll be here to protect you and your heart from now on."

Actually, it's not just Henry, to a less emotionally intense extent, it's Nick too: In M&G, when it comes to the guys George/Nick has physically intimate scenes with: Tony (King James) is shorter than him, Dylan (Peter Carr) is shorter than him, Laurie (Robert Carr) is about the same height, the various other men we see in montages later in the show, all shorter. He's also taller than all the girls he's played opposite of, including Anne.

If I'm correct, up till now, Taylor is Nick's only on-screen partner that's taller than him. And that affects the physical intimacy, like where hands go and how the boys are positioned. Personally, I call it a "lead/follow" pair (like in partnered dances) or a "protector/protected" pair.

(Also please note that I know that this is kind of stereotyping, people don't always follow this fixed dynamic, and these labels only apply when they do follow a fixed dynamic. And I'm also just referring to the physical dynamic, not the actual relationship dynamic)

It's something new for him: for the entirety of his career, he was the bigger one in whatever relationship he was in: the big spoon, the one who lifts his partner, the one who's holding the other's waist; the "lead/protector". So what was it like for him to be the "follow"/"protected" for once?
