Physical Affection
Eddie Munson x Reader (Fluff)
Tumblr media
Summary: You aren’t a very physically affectionate person…until you are.
A/N: Gender neutral Reader, they/them pronouns used, no Y/N. Not proofread.
CW: None, just pure fluff.
Tumblr media
You weren’t an affectionate person.
Well, that’s unfair to say. You could be, just on your own terms. All of your friends knew this and none of them minded, but those times when you were randomly affectionate, it always caught them off guard.
If you ruffle Dustin’s hair, for instance, it’ll suddenly make the otherwise chatty boy speechless. Fixing Steve’s shirt by tucking in the tag for him made the former ladies man blush. That time you helped Robin fix her smudged eyeliner left the poor girl stuttering.
While everyone noticed you were a little more affectionate with Eddie, that was to be expected since he was your partner. But, despite that, they couldn’t help but wonder how things were going with you two. By all appearances, everything seemed fine, but they knew Eddie was typically way more affectionate in relationships than this. He was always all over his partners, no matter if they were one night flings or serious relationships. But with you, he had scaled way back. The only time they’d ever seen you two be affectionate for longer than a brief moment were at parties when Eddie would keep one arm around you protectively at all times. You never seemed to mind though, leaning into his embrace to wedge yourself even closer to him.
It wasn’t until one night at The Hideout that they started figuring out you might be way more physically affectionate than they thought.
The guys were out having a Boys Night when you came rushing into the bar and directly over to their table. Everyone was concerned since Boys Night never gets interrupted unless it’s an emergency.
“Sweetheart, what’s wrong?” Eddie asked, jumping to his feet. “Is everything okay?”
“Oh yeah, everything’s fine,” you said, and everyone breathed a sigh of relief. “I just need you to give me a hug is all.”
Gareth, Grant and Jeff all froze in shock, then exchanged surprised glances.
Did they hear you just right? Did you seriously just ask for a hug? Surly they were hearing things. A combination of the drinks and loud music coming from the jukebox messing up what your words sounded like. That made way more sense than you asking for a hug.
But a warm smile came to Eddie’s face in response, and he stepped closer to you, wrapping his arms around you in a tight embrace. Your arms slipped around his waist as you buried your face into his chest, and you held onto him tightly.
The guys watched for several long moments, gawking as Eddie started to slowly run one hand up and down your back. He softly kissed the side of your head and they could hear him muttering something to you, but they couldn’t make out what. Your body just seemed to melt in his embrace, the tension in your shoulders visibly relaxing as you pressed yourself into the hug.
“What the-“ Gareth started to say, but the words died on his tongue at the glare Eddie’s suddenly shot at him.
Eventually, you pulled back from him just enough for the two of you to exchange a soft kiss.
“All better now, sweetheart?” they heard EddIe ask you.
“Kinda,” you said, nodding. “Do you think I could wait on you at the trailer?”
“Of course,” he replied, then kissed the end of your nose. “You have a key, my house is your house. Make yourself at home, I’ll be there here in a couple of hours.”
After sharing another tender kiss, you finally pulled yourself from Eddie’s arms. You gave the guys a wave and then left The Hideout.
The guys all stared at Eddie as he returned to his seat and took a drink of his beer.
“What?” he asked, finally noticing their looks.
“What the hell was that all about?” Jeff asked.
“Yeah, they never, ever ask to be touched,” Gareth said. “What gives?”
“Nothing,” Eddie said, then sat his bottle down to point at each of them. “And you’d all better just forget you ever saw that.”
The tone of his voice was serious, making them all blink.
“The shit?” Grant asked. “Why?”
“Why? I’ll tell you why,” Eddie leaned forward, a very serious look on his face. “They’ve started sitting on my lap and cuddling every time we’re watching a movie. Completely on their own!”
The guys stared at him in shock.
“Oh wow,” Gareth finally said. “That’s big.”
Eddie nodded rapidly, his curls flying.
“Yeah!” he said. “Huge! So if any of you meathead’s say anything to them and mess this up for me, I swear to God…”

Love Thy Neighbor
saw a prompt from @givethispromptatry
Tumblr media
So... here we are... as usual, not edited in the slightest and hoping it's alright!
WC: ~3.45k
Tumblr media
After your (not so amicable) split from your dirtbag of a husband, you packed your things and moved back to Philly. It was the city that held a special place in your heart, you knew the area like the back of your hand, and your parents still resided in the place that you grew up. It only made sense now that as a single mother to a six year old girl, you would move to be closer to your parents so they could help bear the load of being a working mom. Elizabeth, but you usually stuck with the nickname Ellie, was a rather easy child. But moving from across the country and leaving the life that she knew and loved behind was rather hard for her- and it was even harder knowing that Mom and Dad had split, and that Dad didn’t necessarily want anything to do with either of you anymore.
So, after about a month of living with your parents, making trips from Utah to Philly and back multiple times to gather all of your things from the house, show the house, sell the house, and deal with the divorce lawyers… the two of you have finally found a little apartment that should be an appropriate size for the two of you while still staying within your budget.
You had been granted full custody, not that your ex would fight you on that, but you also managed to get him to fork over a decent amount of child support- and you would need it. You still haven’t found a job in Philly, and while little jobs here and there were helpful (you mostly did DoorDash on your bike, Ellie’s bike trailer attached so you could bring her along and hold the food), you knew that you absolutely needed to find a job- and quick.
In between attempting to unpack all of your things, get Ellie settled, looking for a new job, and Doordashing, you haven’t been able to take a breath at all. You don’t even know who your neighbors are or what they look like. And you feel a little guilty at that, but none of them have stopped by to introduce themselves to you either. You remember though, that Philly folks aren’t nearly as kind as the people that you had surrounded yourself with in Utah… so them not introducing themselves to you isn’t the most unheard of thing in the world.
Today was brutal. You had signed Ellie up to start school next week, searched and applied for a few teaching jobs (one of which would be at your daughter’s school if you could land it), gone grocery shopping, and then done a nice load of Doordashing with your daughter in tow because your parents couldn’t watch her.
The little girl had missed out on the nap that she usually takes after a day at school, so she’s absolutely miserable the entire time that you bike around. You had tried to placate her by bringing along her iPad so she could watch videos while you navigated the city, but she wanted nothing to do with it. All she did the entire time was whine about the fact that she wanted to go home and cuddle.
After hours of delivering food, you’re satisfied with the amount of money that you made today.
“Okay, little love,” you turn and look at your daughter. “Are you ready for home?”
“I’ve been ready,” she grumbles, arms crossed and brows furrowed.
You give her a soft smile. “I know, sweet girl… but Momma has to make money so we can stay here.”
“Why can’t we just stay in Utah where I like it?”
You bite your lip. “I want to be closer to my parents, baby… and this way you get to see Gram and Pop more than you used to. I think if you give Philly a chance, you’ll learn to love it like I do.”
She huffs a little.
Deciding that you probably aren’t going to get much more out of her, you turn and start biking in the direction of your apartment. As you’re doing so, you silently thank God that you’re in good shape. At least if anything comes out of this, your legs are going to look incredible.
You chain your bike to the bike stand in the garage of your apartment complex, only to remember that you had forgotten what you needed to make dinner tonight. With regret, you begin to unchain it- much to Ellie’s dismay.
“Momma!” she stomps her foot.
“I know,” you say softly, but you gesture for her to get back into her trailer.
“No!”
You take a shaky breath. You really don’t want to have to put up with a trademarked Ellie tantrum, but it seems that’s what is in store for you tonight. “Love bug, please. We just have to go to the store, and then we can come home, I’ll make dinner, and we can cuddle.”
“I want to cuddle now!”
“Well, we have to fill that belly of yours with food first,” you poke her stomach gently, trying to elicit a giggle out of the little girl.
It absolutely does the opposite of that. She bats your hand away, and you raise an eyebrow before standing back up straight. “Ellie, you know we do not try to hit.”
“I don’t care,” she tells you defiantly.
A redhead that lives in the building comes into the garage, eyeing you and your child. You hope she isn’t judging you for the fit your child is currently in the middle of having. She climbs into her car and rolls down her windows, but she doesn’t quite pull out yet. She glances at her phone instead.
You blow out a breath, eyes closed and trying to ground yourself, before looking at her again. “Elizabeth, we need to get food for dinner. All you have to do is sit in your trailer while I bike us to the store.”
“Why can’t I stay home?!”
“Because you are six and too little to stay home by yourself.”
“This isn’t home!” you daughter stomps her foot and bursts into tears.
The woman that lives in your complex is still sitting in her car, and you know she can hear your daughter’s and your words. Why hasn’t she pulled out yet?
You soften immediately, crouching back down and opening your arms for her to hug you if she needs to. She does. She immediately curls into your arms and clings to you. “I know, love bug. I know it doesn’t feel like home right now… but no matter what, Momma can’t leave you in the apartment alone. So, I need you to get into your trailer so we can head to the store. The faster we get there, the faster we can come back and curl up on the couch together, okay?”
Your daughter clings to you a little tighter, but you feel her nod into your shoulder.
The woman pulls out of her spot and gives you and your daughter a small wave as she drives past.
You hold your little girl until she begins to pull away, and then you wipe her tears with the pads of your thumbs. “I love you, Ellie.”
She climbs back into her seat before mumbling back the same sentiment.
You’re able to do your quick run to the grocery store, and Ellie refuses to walk but also refuses to sit in the cart like she usually does. So, you carry her on your hip the entirety of your walk through the aisles. As you’re strolling up and down, you see the redhead that you had seen in the garage earlier, and she gives you a questioning look at the sight of you carrying your daughter when she could be in the cart that you’re pushing along.
You just give her a little shrug and continue on your way. Ellie is getting heavier and heavier by the minute though, so you pick up the pace and are out of the store.
You make your way back to the complex, bags around your arms and in the trailer with your daughter. When you lock your bike to the rack, you look in, and the little girl is fast asleep. Shit.
“Ellie,” you crouch down and whisper. “Sweetheart, we’re back. You have to wake up and carry the bread and juice in for me.”
The little girl stirs slightly before repositioning herself and closing her eyes again.
“Baby girl,” you say softly. “Please wake up for Momma.”
You see headlights, and the car that has the redheaded woman in it pulls in. Great. You get to make a fool out of yourself in front of her yet again.
Not being able to hide your stress, you decide to grab a few of the lighter bags, put them on your arms, and then wiggle Ellie out of the trailer. She’s asleep on your shoulder as soon as she’s in your hold. You silently take a moment to pray that your produce won’t get stolen in the few minutes it will take you to get Ellie upstairs before making your way into the building.
The elevator is broken. Of course it is. So you’re forced to carry three bags of groceries and your six year old daughter up four flights of steps. By the end of it, you’re wheezing. You manage to unlock your door before gently setting her on the couch. With a sigh and a wipe of your now sweaty brow, you lock the door behind you and begin to head down to get the rest of your groceries.
There’s that woman again… and she lives in the apartment across the hall. You give her a friendly nod of the head and a smile that doesn’t quite reach your eyes before you continue your trek back down.
After your second trip up, your body is entirely exhausted. You hardly have it in you to cook dinner, but you dragged Ellie out, so you have to make the meal.
You’re able to wake her with the scent of her favorite meal, but as soon as she’s finished, she’s curling up against you and falling asleep.
After your daughter lays on top of you for quite some time, you know you have to put her in her own room. So, you silently make your way into her bedroom and tuck her in. With a quick kiss to the forehead and a soft “I love you”, you make your way back out to the kitchen.
Ellie is out for the night- she was exhausted halfway through your DoorDash shift- so you grab a glass and fill it with wine. The sweet drink helps to melt away some of the stress as you clean the dishes and settle on the couch for some much needed adult time.
That time is interrupted though when you hear a few rough knocks rattling your apartment. Instinctively, you grab the baseball bat that you keep behind the couch and make your way to the door.
Who the hell could be at your door at this hour? You don’t know anyone here, it wouldn’t be your parents… Could it be your ex-husband? No. He’s out in California with the woman he was cheating on you with. So who the hell is it?
“Who is it?” you yell, gripping the bat so tightly your knuckles turn white.
“You the woman that just moved in?” a gruff voice calls back.
You move a bit closer as you call, “What’s it to you?!”
“Saw you have a kid. Was wondering if you needed help with anything. You look real stressed.”
At that, you move closer to the door and glance out the peephole. It’s the woman that you ran into in the garage and at the grocery store. You open the door just slightly, still unsure of her.
“I ain’t gonna bite,” she teases. “You looked really stressed, so I thought I’d come over, introduce myself, and see if you needed any help.”
You lessen the grip on your bat as you open the door a little further. You take in the woman’s full appearance now that you aren’t trying to calm your daughter and aren’t terrified of being mugged. She’s… she’s really pretty.
You don’t realize that you haven’t say anything back until she’s waving a hand in front of your face. “Hello?”
You shake your head to bring yourself back to the present. “Hi. Sorry… today’s just been… a lot.”
“I could gather that. Can I help?”
You shrug. “I think I’m good at the moment, but I appreciate it.”
“Well,” the redhead purses her lips. “You ever need anything, I’m just across the hall.”
She turns to walk back to her apartment, but she stops when you call a gentle, “Hey.”
“Yeah?”
“I uh, never got your name,” you say quietly.
“Schemmenti. Melissa.”
“Nice to meet you,” you smile at her. “I’m Y/N, and the little girl you saw me with is my daughter, Ellie.”
She looks at you thoughtfully before nodding. She heads back to her apartment after that.
You run into her a lot in the following few days after that encounter. She sees you haul Ellie with you pretty much everywhere, and she has quite a few questions that she just can’t seem to work out on her own. So, one day after you’ve brought up Ellie and the groceries, she can’t help but knock on your door.
“Who is it?” you call, not bothering to move from your place on the couch with your daughter.
“Melissa,” the familiar voice calls back.
You sigh before making your way over to the door. “Hey. What’s up?”
“Just checkin’ in on you,” the redhead says. “I saw you hauling up Ellie and your groceries.”
“All good,” you chuckle. “Just about to make dinner for the two of us.”
“You haven’t had dinner yet?” She looks concerned.
“About to get the microwave pasta going now,” you admit sheepishly. “I was gonna have it made earlier, but El decided that she would die without Momma cuddles… and who am I to deny my sweet girl of such a request?”
“When’s her bedtime?”
“In about an hour,” you tell her. “Why?”
“Let me make youse two dinner,” she offers. “I’m a damn good cook, and I can make a pasta dish way better than the packaged sh-stuff.”
“Oh,” you say softly. “You don’t have to do that.”
“No, please,” she argues gently. “I insist.”
“O-oh,” you rub your collarbone nervously. “Are you sure?”
“I haven’t had dinner either,” she lies through her teeth. “So let me make us all a meal while you relax and hold your daughter.”
You finally manage to nod- she does not seem like the type of woman who would lose an argument.
“Just give me a couple minutes to gather some ingredients, and I’ll come back over?”
You smile in lieu of an answer. You close the door gently once she’s back in her apartment before making your way to Ellie.
“Sweet girl, our neighbor, Miss Melissa is coming over for dinner tonight. Can you be the polite little girl I raised?”
She nods, but she reaches for you. You pull her into your lap and hold her close until the redhead knocks on your door again. You pull yourself and your daughter off the couch to go open the door.
In her arms are a few different cans, some produce, and pasta that has clearly been homemade.
“Baby,” you tease the ends of you daughter’s locks gently. “This is Miss Melissa. Can you say hi to her for me?”
“H-hi,” Ellie manages to squeak out. “You’re really pretty.”
Melissa smiles at her, and when she speaks her voice has turned to butter. It’s much softer than when she’s speaking to you. “Thank you, hun. I’m Melissa. It’s so nice to meet you, Ellie.”
“How do you know my name?”
“I’ve been talking to your momma,” the woman chuckles gently.
The little girl’s lips form into an ‘O’ shape, and you can’t help the gentle kiss that you plant on her temple.
“Miss Melissa is going to make us dinner,” you tell your daughter softly. “Does that sound alright?”
She nods against your neck.
“I’m gonna make spaghetti,” the redhead tells Ellie. “That sound okay?”
“You might become her new favorite person,” you joke. “Little girl eats so many noodles, she’s gonna turn into one someday.”
You girl giggles against you. “Nah uh,” she scrunches her nose and makes a funny face at you. “That’s not possible, Momma.”
“I know, my love. I’m just teasing,” you chuckle before returning your attention to the woman in your doorway. “Well, come in, come in. Make yourself at home.”
She carries her things to the kitchen before starting her prep. The way that she gets everything done so efficiently is mind blowing to you, and you can’t help but watch in awe as you continue to hold Ellie.
“Sit down, hun,” Melissa instructs softly as she stirs her sauce. “Take a load off. I got this.”
“Are you sure you don’t want any help? Maybe a glass of wine for your troubles?”
“I won’t say no to a glass, but you absolutely are not helping. I got it.”
You pour her a glass and offer it to her before quietly sitting down and continuing to watch as she makes her way through your kitchen effortlessly.
Dinner is placed in front of you before you know it, and Ellie is nearly wiggling with glee at the plate in front of her. She dives in, and her eyes light up.
“This is so yummy!” your little girl cheers as she takes another forkful to her mouth.
“I’m glad you like it, sweetheart,” Melissa smiles. She gestures for you to take a bite as well, and when you do, you can’t help the small sigh that comes out of your mouth.
“Wow,” you say softly. “This is… incredible.”
“Thanks,” she chuckles as she take a bite of her own creation. “It’s a family recipe.”
Dinner is pleasant. The woman does her best to ask Ellie all about herself, to which your little girl answers delightfully. She’s even able to ask Melissa a few questions of her own. But once her plate is cleared, Ellie climbs into your lap and lets out a yawn as she fiddles with the chain around your neck.
“Is my little girl tired?” you coo softly.
She nods against you.
“Why don’t you start getting ready for bed, sweetness? Momma will be in in a few minutes to say goodnight,” you tell her. She nods again. “Well, off you go. But first, what do you say to Miss Melissa?”
“Thank you,” your daughter smiles brightly before climbing off your lap. Surprisingly, she makes her way over to the redhead’s side of the table and hugs her. Melissa wraps her arms around the little girl gently.
“You’re welcome, sweetheart. Get some good sleep tonight, yeah?”
Ellie nods before wandering down the hall to get to her bedroom, leaving you with Melissa.
“Thank you for dinner tonight,” you say softly.
“Any time.”
“No, seriously. I usually cook, but I was not feeling it tonight. So, thank you.”
“I’m sure. I saw you biking all around today, starting with this morning when I was heading to work and ending with you coming back from the store.”
“Yeah,” you sigh. “I’m a busy woman.”
“Where are you always biking anyway?”
“I’m in between jobs at the moment, so I’ve just been DoorDashing with El until she starts school next week,” you sigh. “Hopefully I get a job soon… I need all the money I can get to keep this place and give El everything she needs or wants.”
“You’re doing great,” Melissa tells you honestly. “She adores you.”
“She likes you too,” you say quietly. “You’re really good with her.”
“Well, I have some experience with children,” she chuckles quietly. “I guess I should head out so you can get the little one to bed and get some sleep yourself, but I’ll see you around?”
“Next time, dinner’s on me,” you tell her.
“We’ll see about that one,” she laughs as she heads for the door. “If you need anything, don’t be afraid to holler.”
“Thank you, Melissa. Goodnight.”
You see her out, and as you close the door behind her, you sigh. You lean against it for a second, a little confused with the way you’re feeling after this diiner.
Maybe this new neighbor will become a close friend of yours… maybe something else. Only time will tell. But for now, you have to get back to your daughter.

Pizza Delivery Pt.2
T/M (recreational drug use, language) more flirting by way of pizza delivery.
Part One
Part Two
Part Three
Part Four
Part Five ✨️complete✨️
The next few weeks of summer flew by. Eddie and Jeff were picking up tons of hours delivering pizzas and on slower nights answering the phones. Eddie had even been asked to help with some food prep which he found out he liked doing. It wasn’t a half bad gig working at the pizza shop.
Dominic could get loud but he was never really yelling at anyone he was just yelling for the sake of it. Usually at the bulky TV in the corner of shop when some sort of sports game was going on.
The uniform was the ‘Hawkins Hot Pies’ hat and whatever the fuck you wanted to wear. It was laid back to drop in for work in his usual get up and drive around for a few hours and make some cash.
It had been a few weeks since he had the run in with Harrington. Eddie had pushed it to the darkest recesses of his mind until his late night dreams brought them back to the surface. Flashes of flushed cheeks and lips slick with gloss would be slinking back into the hidden places once he awoke.
He grabbed a few boxes of pizza and placed them in the warming bag in his car. Eddie went over the addresses and doubled checked he had everything he needed, some change and small bills, his cigarettes tucked into his pocket, and headed out to make his rounds. He was quickly picking up on the ‘regulars’ who usually would fall on Friday nights.
A popular evening for a weekly pizza fix.
He rang the bell on one of his favorites the Henderson household. They had a cute cat and a kid going into high school that Eddie had spotted working on one of his miniatures for DnD which had Eddie telling him about the club and easing some of his concern at going into High School. He knew a baby nerd when he saw one.
Ever since the first time the weekly ritual of their drop off was one of his favorites.
Claudia seemed thankful for Eddie having quelled some of Dustin and in turn his group of friends worries over the new chapter they were coming up on. She would greet him and over tip as he chatted with Dustin.
Usually about his current campaign his friend Will was running and in turn Dustin begged for details on some of Eddie’s latest campaigns he had run for the club. His curiosity lit up with the information he absorbed about the game Eddie ran or the fun anecdote he had about Grant and Gareth almost getting into a fist fight over a tough call on the one he ran last year.
Tonight their usual order was a little different with an added pizza in the mix. Eddie rang the bell and heard the commotion as Dustin whipped open the door, “Eddie!” He greeted at a loud decibel.
Eddie smiled, “Henderson, always a pleasure.”
A few more kids around Dustin’s age came forward as Eddie immediately recognized the girls as the ones Harrington had been watching a couple weeks ago.
“Aw, Dusty, when you said the guy was into DnD I already thought he’d be a nerd. But your Eddie is this Eddie?” The red head interjected.
Dustin clicked his tongue at her.
“Harsh red, I get it we’re neighbors-“ He leaned down closer to her and lowered his voice, “You want me to tell ‘em the songs you request me to play.”
Max gave him a hateful look. They had become somewhat acquaintances when they’d chill outside their respective trailers at the same times.
“I guess he isn’t the worst. Steve said he walks on cafeteria tables.” She said before promptly turning around and walking away.
Dustin gave him the cash his mom presumably left for him, “Don’t mind Max, she’s got the highest Dig Dug score at the arcade so she thinks she’s better than us.”
He pointed out and introduced Will, Lucas, and Mike to Eddie and expressed their interest in the club come the start of the school year. Mike piped up, “Do you really make speeches up on the cafeteria tables?”
“Not like all the time or anything. Sometimes jocks have to hear it from someone. Be called out, or held accountable, just when I’m feeling impassioned.” Eddie said as he fixed the brim of his hat.
“Cool.” Mike said in awe.
Eddie recognized the younger Byers. Jon had been another regular of his when he was still in the lunchbox drug toting business. He had been a good enough customer for Eddie to refer him directly to Reefer Rick.
“Good meeting you, any friend of Henderson’s and all that business, I gotta head out, catch ya next week!” Eddie said as the young teens waved him off.
Nothing bolstered his sails like the admiration of others. He chewed over the thought of Steve talking about him to them. It didn’t sound teasing or cruel. The teens still sounded interested in the club so clearly Harrington hadn’t warned them off of him. He shook the thought from his mind as he hopped back in his van and got back to work.
Steve was bogged down with a line to the door. Friday nights at Family Video were busy hellscapes of customer service and he and Robin were drowning in it tonight. The third person who was supposed to be on called off ‘sick’ and the two of them were just getting by.
The last few weeks Steve had heard the name Eddie pop up in just about every conversation from Dustin, almost as frequently as he brought up Suzie. He knew the kids had a tough couple years with bullies.
A few years ago while he was dating Nancy it had escalated to the extent of some kids following Will home and picking on him at the quarry. He had been taunted, injured and unable to ride home. The idiot kids who had done it freaked when they thought they’d killed him. All running off home and saying nothing. Joyce was frantic and had called the police to alert them of Will missing when he still wasn’t home in the morning.
Steve had been one of the people that helped locate him. Will had been pushed, or according to the group of bullies fallen off a small ledge and was stuck where he had landed. No real way to climb up with the two broken wrists he had suffered from the fall.
Steve had somehow become paired off with Will’s loyal group of friends while Nancy paired up to support Jonathan in the Hawkins-wide search. Even when he and Nance hadn’t worked out Steve somehow gained a bunch of middle schoolers from their time together.
His anger towards Jonathan eventually simmering down to an uneasy then slightly easier friendship.
It had been a turning of tides for him in that moment.
Steve realized he would’ve never been the kid to shove someone  but he had often been a bystander to the boys who did.
It lead to his summer at Scoops Ahoy and his inheritance of Robin to add to his unlikely group of friends. The kids helped win her over and Steve was desperate for some friends his age.
He liked her brand of sarcasm.
He admired he ability to learn languages like it was nothing.
And when she came out to him he knew he’d love her forever since she was brave to share that part of herself with him.
In turn it let him feel like he wasn’t alone.
By reassuring her that it was okay it reinforced to him that his preferences were okay too.
While the two of them were battling head to head with an insane amount of customers from slinging ice cream to supplying video rentals they had each others backs, full stop.
Because Robin Buckley knew all his secrets, the same way he knew hers.
Like they had found each other for that reason.
Finally the last stragglers were checking out and Robin was locking the front door, “What a freaking shit show tonight.” She said as she fake fainted over the counter, “I’m so famished I think my stomach is eating itself.” She groaned into the counter top.
They heard knocking on the door that startled them. Steve started to call out, “We’re closed!”
When he looked up and remembered in his stroke of genius about an hour and a half ago he had called himself and Robin in a pizza. He knew they’d be starving.
Standing there in his silly red pizza delivery hat and ripped black jeans was Eddie Munson. His band shirt showed off a smattering of tattoos on his arms. The same ink that Steve had to hear Dustin talk about how cool they were atleast once per hang out. In that moment he couldn’t even be annoyed. His stomach rumbled loudly kicking him into motion.
Steve jogged over to open the door, “You are a literal angel right now.” He stated.
Robin came up behind him, “Munson, with pizza? My fucking hero.”
“Buckley, what’s up?” Eddie grinned.
Steve noticed it was kind of striking on the other man’s face dimples unapologetically on display. Or maybe he was just delusional with hunger?
“Tonight sucked.” She grabbed the box, “Hear you’re adopting Steve’s nerds. You two are gonna need to work out a custody agreement.”
Eddie cocked his head, “What?”
“Henderson and his nerd herd.” Robin clarified.
“You can have them during the school days and some weekends.” Steve offered as he paid Eddie.
“Do you babysit all of them?” Eddie asked, “I barely recognize you without the scrunchie.” He teased.
Robin cut in, “What scrunchie? Stevie? What? Scrunchie?” she asked mouth full of pizza.
He shoved her, “Don’t worry about it.” He turned back to Munson, “You promised.” He gave him a glare and started to shut the door.
“Aw, the prettiest princess, don’t be like that.” Eddie laughed out.
Steve smirked and closed the door he slid the lock into place and flipped the sign to closed, “Thanks for the hot pies, Munson.” He winked and turned to join Robin with the pizza.
Eddie stood there for a beat and headed back to his van, was Harrington flirting with him? Had hell frozen over? He slipped a joint from his pocket and lit up on his way back to the pizza shop.
Robin eyed Steve, “What was that about?” She pointed to the door.
“Just ordered us pizza, no biggie. Knew we’d be hungry.” Steve tried to down play. He ran a grease-free hand through his bronze hair and grabbed a second slice.
“Mmm-Mmm, no, what was that- with Eddie. He called you princess.” She clarified knowing Steve was playing dumb.
Steve shrugged one shoulder up as Robin punched him in the arm, “Ouch Robs.”
“He may have delivered pizza when I was hanging with El and Max a few weeks ago…and I may have forgotten I let the girls practice their make-up on me…and fuck. I looked like such a loser. He, I mean, ugh-“ Steve stumbled out his words.
“Okay, you’re kinda buggin’ about this. He’s what?” Robin encouraged him.
“Kinda hot. Right?” Steve pushed the words out. It was only him and Robin.
Robin scrunched up her nose at him, “I mean he’s very…expressive? Nice eyes. Definitely boy shaped though.”
Steve steepled his fingers under his chin and sagely replied, “Mmm-Hmm, very boy shaped.”
Robin started laughing, “Well anything beats the near constant strike-outs you’ve been having.”
“One, rude. And two, what if he doesn’t like dudes- or me specifically.” Steve said as he picked off a pepperoni and popped it in his mouth.
Robin tilted her head, “His nickname is the freak so…maybe? Liking guys isn’t so far off base.”
“And me specifically?” Steve followed up.
“Jury’s out you’re kind of prep meets normie meets someone figuring out their style- but Munson didn’t seem to mind.” Robin said as she took in Steve’s white ringer tee with red, blue, and yellow stripes on the short sleeves.
Steve scoffed at her.
“You know I’m not great reading the signs with guys.” He sighed.
Robin smiled, “Aw, dingus, you’re not great reading the signs in general. How were you considered a ladies man in school?”
The two started laughing again.
“You’re so mean to me, wanna bring up Vickie again?” Steve retorted.
Robin narrowed her eyes, “Low blow King Steve!”
“Let’s get shit cleaned up and get the fuck outta here, we both off tomorrow?” Steve asked.
Robin nodded, “Float in your pool all day?”
“You got it, come over around eleven.” He chatted as they gathered trash and counted down the tills.
Steve thought about Eddie’s dimples and how he had gone out of his way to be nice to Dustin. He brushed it off, no use in getting invested to be let down.
They finished up the closing routine and Steve dropped Robin off at home, “Later dingus. Love ya, mean it!”
He laughed lightly, “Love you too Robs!” He watched her disappear inside before driving home.
Steve swore it was the hottest day of the summer so far. His house a haven to a gaggle of teens with the pool in use and the air conditioner blasting inside.
The doorbell rang and Steve pulled open the door. Munson stood in front of him with three large pizza’s piled in his arms. He smirked at the other man, “We gotta stop meeting like this.”
“Sure, but you tell me the easiest way to feed rabid teens and Robin Buckley and not factor in pizza.” Steve joked back.
He was standing in the doorway to his parents well maintained Loch Nora home. The hedges perfectly trimmed and the windows without a speck of dust or smudges- but all Eddie could see was Steve in his tiny green swim trunks with a towel slung over his shoulders. Hair damp along his neck and the broad expanse of his chest and holy chest hair, bat man.
Eddie usually drew the line at drooling over straight boys. He’d been burned by that game more than a few too many times. He was tugged from his thoughts as Dustin came ripping through the Harrington home, “Eddie!” He exclaimed as he approached.
Steve turned to him his hands firmly on his hips and his mouth a stern line, “Seriously Henderson, you’re dripping all over the inside of the house. What is literally the only rule here?”
Dustin looked momentarily cowed, “Dry off before coming inside.”
Steve did a little round of applause, “Got it in one, and what exactly are you doing then?”
“Saying Hi to Eddie?” Dustin said.
Steve made a buzzer sound, “Nope, wrong. The correct answer here folks would be, grabbing a towel and drying off!” Steve threw his own towel at Dustin’s face.
Eddie started laughing.
Eddie was resolutely not staring at the expanse of Steve Harrington’s toned and sun-kissed back. He hand indents punctuating his low back that Eddie wanted to trace with his fingertips, and tongue.
Nope, not one bit, he thought to himself as he watched the two in front of him bickering.
He was just standing and holding very hot pizza’s and watching an absurd interaction as he shifted his weight in his worn white Reeboks.
Dustin made an annoyed sound, “Gross Steven, this is your used towel. Eddie is definitely a way cooler older male friend-“
“Ew, Dustykins please don’t refer to us as your older male friends, it’s creepy.” Steve said perturbed.
Eddie swallowed back another round of laughter.
Dustin threw the towel back at Steve, “Well you don’t qualify as my friend right now anyway.”
“Hmm, that so? Did you wanna continue the pool party or…?” Steve’s tone edged on bitchy.
“Hey Eddie, sorry Steve’s being a jerk.” Dustin said around Steve.
Eddie’s eyebrows went up, “Uh, no comment? Pizza delivery.” He held up the boxes higher and forced a funny smile.
“Oh shit man, sorry, jeez you’ve been holding all those this entire time- Dustin fuck off and get out the paper plates will you?” Steve said as he grabbed for his wallet by the door.
Dustin mimicked what Steve said in a higher pitched voice.
Eddie giggled, “The tone on that one.”
Steve laughed, “Yeah have fun with him in a few weeks. He’s gonna be relentless about your club.”
He grabbed the pizza’s and set them inside coming back to hand Eddie the cash, “Shit, I’m a little short for a tip- get ya next time? I promise-“
Eddie cut him off, “Hey, princess, not a problem-“
The other man’s cheeks flushed at the nickname. Eddie was certain they had.
Steve ran into the house and came back holding two cupcakes, “Here,” he said holding the food out to Eddie, “but like I pinky swear I’ll get you back. These kids are eating me outta house and home!” He said as Eddie dumbfounded took the cupcakes.
They were decorated with little frosted designs, they looked professional, “Oh that one’s vanilla bean with vanilla frosting and the other one is a salted caramel.” Steve rambled off.
Eddie held the cupcakes, one in each hand, “Thanks.” He smiled.
Some kids came running through the house, Eddie recognized most of them from his time delivering pizza’s throughout the summer.
The younger Sinclair sibling was calling out for Steve, “Uh, thanks again Munson, swear I’ll get you next time!”
Eddie walked back to his van and set the cupcakes on the dashboard he re-lit a half smoked joint and puffed on it down to the roach as he drove back to the pizza shop. Edges softer from the weed as he sat in the parking lot and bit into the vanilla cupcake.
He mmmmm-ed to himself. It was delicious. No way in hell this was box mix. He devoured the caramel one in two bites and mourned that they were gone.
A sharp knock on his window startled him out of the tasty cocoon he was currently in, he rolled down his window, “You staying on for the evening?” Jeff asked as he twirled his keys.
Eddie thought it over quietly he technically wasn’t scheduled.
“You good?” Jeff followed up.
Eddie smiled dopily, “Harrington tipped me in cupcakes, and they were fucking delicious-“
Jeff started laughing, “Dude. Go home, you’re done for today.”
“You got it man, come by later?” Eddie said as he picked up the polka-dot cupcake wrapper and went to lick some stray frosting from it.
Jeff snorted at the sight, “Sure I’ll see if Grant and Gareth are free. See you around nine.”
Eddie nodded as Jeff hightailed it into work to start the dinner rush deliveries.
Heyyy I'm so stoked people are feelin' this adorable lil brain worm! Thank you! 🥰

As Sneaky Link comes to an end, it just means that I’ll get to work on some other fun projects that have been in my drafts for (literally) a year and a half.
The next multi chapter I’m working on is set back in the 80s. Only this time, it’s not Steve who spirals about his sexuality.
Eddie is straight—he’s just never met the right girl to feel that spark. But Steve over the last years has had a secret that he’s told no one. Not even Robin.
Until Eddie walks in on him in a very compromising position. With another man.
I started this fic as something we hardly see in the Steddie fandom—and that’s Steve being the certified queer, and Eddie having a full blown crisis as he figures himself out.
As promised, below the cut is the first 2.4K words of chapter 1, and in February it’ll be posted in its entirety on my ao3: morningberries
Enjoy 🥹
It was a chilly day in early September—the wind carrying half-brown leaves through the air in swirling patterns that looked like mini tornados. Eddie stared at them from his trailer’s living room window as Wayne’s truck disappeared beyond the bend in the road.
Another weekend alone as his uncle worked a double shift.
It’s not that Eddie didn’t have friends. There was Gareth and Jeff and Grant—the members from his beloved band Corroded Coffin—but he knew Jeff was on vacation with his parents before college started and Grant was working with his dad in the garage on that ’69 Mustang they picked up from the scrapyard over the summer. Gareth, although in Hawkins, had landed himself a hot new girlfriend and spent every waking moment with her.
Eddie couldn’t really blame him, even though he didn’t really get it.
It had been the same thing his whole life, if he was being honest with himself. Since middle school, he’d watch his friends start dating whatever chick they had a crush on, listen to them start yammering about how gorgeous she was or how cool or how smart. How she made them get butterflies in their stomachs, whatever the fuck that meant.
Yeah, cool.
Eddie had dated girls—some pretty cute ones at that. There was Sam, who he dated his second senior year, and they’d gotten along really well. She was what Eddie thought should probably be his type—dark hair, a lip ring, wore lipstick in blacks and unearthly blues. She was even in Hellfire Club and honestly kicked ass at it. Objectively, on paper, she was everything he wanted.
Except he didn’t feel it. Whatever it was. The fucking butterflies, or whatever.
When they broke up, it hadn’t really been the end of the world. He mourned their friendship more than the sexual aspect of their relationship, because Sam had been awesome to hang out with and smoke with and laugh with.
Gareth hadn’t believed Eddie when he said he was fine—took a solid 4 months before Gare actually accepted that Eddie’s heart wasn’t shattered.
Eddie cared more about… God, like, anything but dating. Like D&D, and his friends, and his guitar, and Metallica’s newest album, and making his fucking bed in the morning, and even his therapist. He knew it didn’t really help him look normal to be a twenty-year-old man who couldn’t care less about pursuing girls, but whatever. He was King Freak, after all.
When he met Chrissy six months ago, he thought for a moment that he might be able to convince himself to have a crush on her. It should be easy; a small, thin, blonde, pretty cheerleader is everyone’s type. Maybe he’d just been chasing after the wrong girls. But what he felt on the drive to his trailer with Chrissy in his front seat, as she timidly told him she thought he was kind and funny, was, again… not the fireworks he expected from all the stories of love at first sight.
And then she’d died, which vastly overshadowed Eddie’s worry that there might be something wrong with him for not developing feelings. He talked about both things in his weekly government mandated therapy sessions. But mostly about her death.
The doctor had told Eddie it wasn’t uncommon to have an aversion to romantic or sexual relationships after experiencing trauma. Eddie didn’t really bother to elaborate that it had started long before said trauma. But whatever.
He digressed.
Gareth had a girlfriend, and they spent their time making out and—apparently now—doing hands and mouth stuff. At least, that’s what Gareth had been bragging about at their last band practice. And, according to him, they were probably going to fuck on this weekend that Eddie was once again alone, so calling Gareth was completely off the table.
He sighed, standing from his uncle’s withered brown couch to walk the ten steps to his bedroom. He plucked his guitar from her hook on the wall, strummed a few chords without bothering to plug her in. If he was really going to talk about trauma responses and aversions, he might as well start with the one he developed for playing his guitar after the epic battle in the Upside Down.
Since the day he nearly bled out on the gravel outside of his trailer (that wasn’t really his trailer, because apparently alternate dimensions are, like, actually a thing), he hadn’t really been able to play anymore. It wasn’t some dramatic thing, like getting wild flashbacks of battling massive fucking hell-bats, or getting feasted on by their fang-filled mouths, or Dustin crying over him, or what if felt like when he literally died for four minutes before he was defibrillated. It was just this soft, but uncomfortable, feeling in his stomach, accompanied by massive brain fog, and a general lack of motivation to learn anything new.
He hung the guitar back where it belonged, in front of his mirror. The reflection that looked back at him looked… well, goddamn bored, for one. And a little anxious. And like he should probably try to reach out to some of his other friends.
There had been some silver linings to the whole everything-he’s-ever-known-about-the-world-has-been-a-lie thing. He did, now, have other friends. Dustin, for one, would hang out with him on days that weren’t D&D related. Although, Eddie was sure that a lot of that was because he had a working vehicle that could tow him around to the arcade, or the diner (where Eddie paid for Dustin’s meals, obviously), or the video store.
Eddie didn’t mind crashing Family Video, because more often than not, it meant he could visit his new age-appropriate friend.
Robin and Eddie had become attached at the hip, honestly. Best friends. Trauma bonded, or something. Or maybe it had more to do with the fact that they were both losers, and somehow both smart and dumb at the same time. They also both talked a lot, and got excited over weird shit, and liked to rag on Dustin. So Eddie really took a liking to Robin.
And here was something that he’d been thinking about for the last few weeks.
Maybe he had a crush on her? It didn’t really sound right, but he did get excited when he got to see her, and his heartrate sometimes sped up when he went to family video and he first laid eyes on her talking to Steve, and maybe there was also a tinge of jealousy that settled in the pit of his stomach when he thought of how close they were. That had to mean something—meant something more than anything else he’d ever felt before.
He knew if Steve and Robin were going to get together, it more than likely would have already happened. But the thought still nagged on him a bit. He wouldn’t like it, and he couldn’t really put his finger on why. Having a crush on Robin was the only feasible explanation, really.
It was either that, or perhaps it was because Eddie was convinced that Steve hated him for some unknown reason.
Eddie tried to become friends with Steve during the aftermath of the Upside Down, and for a while it seemed like it was working. It seemed like Steve actually enjoyed Eddie’s company.
They’d hang out first with Rob, or Dustin. And then just by themselves. Steve even came to smoke up at the trailer once or twice, ended up crashing on Eddie’s couch. Steve used to smile at him, and nudge him in the shoulders like they were sharing some inside joke, or sling his arm around Eddie casually like they’d known each other for ages.
It always made Eddie feel like he was buzzing, like there was some sort of weight in his chest that spasmed and choked him. His therapist had said that it was probably some sort of satiation for his inner child, finally being accepted by someone who was deemed popular. Eddie hadn’t ever thought he cared about shit like that, but the subconscious was a mysterious place, he was coming to learn. Definitely explained the attachment he felt for Steve those first few months out of the hospital; the absolute giddiness he felt when they got to hang out.
But that was at the beginning. The start of July was when Eddie noticed Steve acting different towards him. Avoiding touch, and then eye contact, and then Eddie’s calls, and finally, just Eddie altogether.
The pit Eddie had felt in his stomach from losing Steve’s affection had been awful. He really thought they were becoming close, really thought it was the start of something. A really great friendship.
But Steve peaced out as quickly as he bonded with Eddie, apparently deciding now that they were back in the real world, they couldn’t really mingle anymore.
The bond they formed in the Upside Down was acceptable when they were actively monster hunting, but Eddie supposed now that things had somewhat calmed, reality started to crash into focus. Steve was still a jock; Eddie was still a freak. Therefore, no more sitting across from each other at Benny’s Diner.
That was Eddie’s theory, at least. When he’d ask Robin about it, she’d just shrugged her shoulders and said, “He hasn’t spoken badly about you. Like, at all. Seems like he likes you to me.”
Then, as if to prove his point, Steve would go all red when Eddie would stop by his work and go hide in the back room until the kids picked whatever Sci-Fi movie and piled back in Eddie’s van.
Whatever. It didn’t matter.
Eddie survived sans Steve before the Upside Down, he’d survive without him now.
He picked up the phone and dialed Robin’s number.
“Hello?”
“Rob,” Eddie greeted, a smile already forming on his face from hearing her raspy voice. “What are you up to?”
He could hear a snort from the other end of the line. He knew she was rolling her eyes. “On a Friday afternoon at five PM? Absolutely nothing, of course.”
“Is that sarcasm?”
“Did it sound like sarcasm?”
“I’ll be honest with you,” he said, tucking the phone against his shoulder as he poured himself a mug of old drip coffee from this morning, “it very much did.”
“You’re getting better at social cues!” she mockingly praised.
“Watch it, Bucky. Don’t get too comfortable hiding behind that phone.”
“You’ll forget before the next time we see each other. I’m not too worried.”
Eddie sighed for what felt like the hundredth time since his uncle left the trailer. “Does that mean you can’t hang?”
The line crackled as Robin moved through her living room. Eddie could imagine her flopping on the couch, getting comfortable, her green phone glued to her ear with a big bowl of popcorn settled in her lap. “Noooott necessarily,” she drawled out. “Although, I know you’re not exactly fond of parties.”
Eddie furrowed his brow as he slid his mug onto the new microwave’s glass plate. He’d gotten it for Wayne’s birthday with some of the hush money the government had… well, hushed him with. Eddie had promised to keep his lips sealed when they flashed him the size of the cheque. Not like he had many people to tell, anyway.
“You’re going to a party?”
“Yeah,” she said, sounding surprised. “Steve’s party? For his twentieth?”
Eddie’s stomach dropped. “Steve’s having a party for his birthday?”
As far as he’d known, Steve said he was doing a quiet thing with his parents and his aunt that he didn’t even want to attend, and that was that. He’d just shrugged when Eddie pressed about celebrating with his friends, muttering something about it feeling weird to celebrate after everything that went down earlier in the year.
Which had been fair enough.
But now it was abundantly clear that Steve had been lying to Eddie. To keep him away.
“Uh, of course he is, Doofus. He told me you said you couldn’t come?”
Eddie, for some wild reason, felt his eyes pricking with tears. Out of anger or betrayal or confusion, he wasn’t really sure. It was dumb; he was tough, and he didn’t cry when jocks hated him ever before. So he swallowed them back down.
“Guess my plans changed,” he said, venom seeping into his tone. Fuck Steve and his master plan to keep Eddie from attending his dumb house party. “I’m coming.”
It seemed that Robin was totally oblivious to his anger as she squealed excitedly from the other end of the line. “Yay! Will you come pick me up then? It would be so much cooler to show up with a friend than have my mom drop me off in front of all the former popular kids of Hawkins High.”
“Why do you care about that shit?” Eddie asked, even though he knew it was hypocritical of him.
“Look, I know you’re totally unaffected by the social hierarchy, Eddie, but I’m unashamed to admit that it’ll feel kind of amazing to debut myself as Steve’s best friend, you know? And I’d rather do it in your shitty van than have my mother yelling that she loves me from the open window of her Honda Civic.”
“Don’t call ol’ Heffer shitty,” Eddie sulked. “It’s not good to bite the hand that feeds you. Or something like that.”
Eddie ignored that it didn’t feel great when Robin said she was Steve’s best friend. That heavy shadow of jealousy weighed down on him. He was unclear whether it was because he was jealous of Steve or Robin.
“Whatever,” Robin said, her voice laced with yet another eyeroll. “Pick me up at seven-thirty?”
Eddie nodded, his face still pulled into a scowl. When he realised Robin couldn’t see him, he shook his muddled brain and mumbled, “Uh—yeah. Seven-thirty. See you then.”
“Cool. See you soon, Doofus,” Robin sang. And then the line went dead.

****************************************
Tumblr media
"'You're gonna love it, babe', 'The song's all about you and I, babe'..." You mumble in a goofy voice before rolling your eyes. Your boyfriend of a few months had happily invited you on to set of his newest music video and you weren't impressed by all the girls checking him out as he bounced around the set, hyped up and ready to give his all.
"Y/N! Look!" Jungkook calls out to you as you take a deep breath to release your petty aggression. You look over at your boyfriend and pause as you eye the white blazer he was in with no shirt on under it.
"I look good?" He asks happily and you open your mouth to answer, but get cut off by some random backup dancer.
"You look amazing, Jungkook..." She says and you wanna yank her by her blonde locks, but hold yourself back. It's been all morning of this and you were begging any and every god and spirit up above to grant you patience because you were close to losing it.
"I'm going to the trailer." You finally say, tired of putting on a smile. You walk off through the video shoot set towards the trailer parked at the end of the parking lot. Jungkook notices right away, looking towards the director.
"Cut? Please?" He asks and when he gets a nod, he's off towards the direction of the trailer as well.
You sigh as you walk in and make quick work of your sweater. You were hot and annoyed and tired and-
You're pulled from your thoughts by Jungkook walking in after you. Great...
"What's wrong? I wanted you here for fun. Why aren't you having fun?" He asks softly as he looks at you with a frown that you want to yank off of his face. He had no reason to be all upset. You should be the only one frowning here.
"I don't know, Jungkook. Something about my boyfriend being grouped all day long while I watch with the hot sun beating down on me just isn't all that fun." You say finally and he pauses.
"Groped? By who?" He asks and you give him a look.
"You're not serious, right? All those dancers who are eye-fucking you!" You say loudly because it's so painfully obvious! He stares at you with his face just as confused as before. As if your outburst didn't clear up anything.
"Y/N, I... I still don't know what you're talking about." He says, and you groan loudly before grabbing his face and kissing him hard. He wanted to play dumb? Fine.
As the kiss starts to heat up and his hands grip your waist, you pull away. "You've been bad." You whisper against his lips, and he looks at you, eyes instantly growing softer.
"What? I-" You cut him off from his gentle voice.
"You have been misbehaving, puppy." You say quietly as you look up at him.
Size didn't matter at this moment.
Control did.
And Jungkook... Loved being controlled.
"But... I... No, I haven't-" You cut him off from his pouting.
"Are you talking back?" You ask sharply and he quickly shakes his head.
"N-No, Y/N, I just-" You grab his chin and make him look at you in the eyes.
"What did you just call me?" You ask and he shivers quietly, looking at you with a small pout.
"Mistress..." He whispers finally. "Please. I was good. I... I have been so good, mistress. I can't help it if people look..." He tries softly and it makes you glare at him. Wrong answer.
"I know what the problem is. I was away for three weeks. You've been bad because you've forgotten who you belong to." You whisper as you stare him down.
"Mistress... No. No, I... I know who I belong to. I know I'm your puppy. I..." He trails off long enough to kneel in front of you as you cross your arms.
"Puppy's sorry, mistress..." He whispers as he looks up at you while nuzzling against your bare legs thanks to your shorts. You hum as you reach down to brush his hair back before you yank it back hard, so he looks up at you. He softly whimpers, but his tongue licking his bottom lip showed you just how much he loved it.
"Get undressed. Get on the bed." You whisper finally as you watch him nod as best he can with your grip still on his hair. Without a moment of hesitation, he undresses down to his boxers which were also white.
"I know I was bad. I should have... Told them to stop looking at me like that, mistress..." He whispers and you laugh humorlessly.
"Too late for that now." You say as you walk over to stand between his legs as he looks up at you from his seat on the corner of the bed.
"I bet you loved their attention. Because you knew how badly it was pissing me off. Desperate puppy like you? Any attention is good attention, huh..." You whisper as you push him to lay back. He whines quietly at the accusation, but he doesn't deny it...
"Guess what I came with..." You say as you straddle him before reaching into your back pocket. You pull out a golden dog collar. Jungkook's eyes light up when they spot it glistening in the sun rays that are seeping in through the small crack in the curtain. It was ironic. The golden maknae with his golden collar on to be your golden puppy. Such a cute and stupid puppy...
"M-My collar!" He whispers, smiling happily and you hum before putting it back in your back pocket. He instantly frowns.
"Wait. Wait. My-" You cut him off.
"I don't think you deserve it, puppy. I don't know if you're even mine anymore." You say simply.
"What?! No! Of course I'm your puppy." He says fast in a pouty tone. It never took much to get him all small and whiny. He was a perfect play toy. Then again, ARMY swore he was perfect at everything...
It makes you snicker a bit.
"Then prove it..." You whisper as you slowly start to grind against him. He gasps and his eyes shut instantly at the attention. You grab his neck and he moans quietly until you squeeze slightly.
"Eyes stay open, puppy." You growl as you grip his neck firmly. He whines as he opens his eyes only for you to kiss him harder. He can barely keep up as you grind harder against his crotch.
"Please. Please." He whines quietly against your lips as you start to feel him harden under you.
You ignore the soft pleas between heavy pants as you quicken your pace against his hard cock now.
"Oh! Oh, please, mistress. Puppy's gonna cum!" He cries out softly as he raises his hips, desperate to chase down his release but still a good enough sub to warn you before he does. You move from his lips to bite along his neck. Fuck this video shoot, they'd have to redo his makeup, or change his entire outfit lineup, but you were gonna show that he was yours...
"Oh, I'm gonna cum!" He moans loudly as his head rolls back. You smirk as you feel the warmth seep between you both as he pants harshly, whining quietly.
"P-Puppy... Puppy made... Puppy made a mess..." He whimpers quietly as you get off of him.
"I know. Looks like you need to clean it up..." You taunt quietly before you softly rub along his bulge while he moans quietly over the overstimulation. You raise your hand up to his mouth, some cum on your palm that had seeped through his boxers.
He wastes no time in licking up his mess from your hand, sucking hungrily on each finger as you watch on happily before you rub your hand all over his face to smear it with leftover cum and his spit. Then you pull your hand away to undress.
"I-Is... Did puppy show he's good?" He whispers, not even caring about what's on his face. He blinks a bit to focus on where he is, and you want to laugh.
"We're just getting started." You whisper before you get back on him, licking along his chest to one of his nipples. You bite it and he hisses at how good the pain feels, but he arches closer to your mouth when you suck on it.
"Oh. Mistress... You're being so mean..." He whines quietly and you smirk at that.
"You wanna see mean?" You whisper against his nipple as he shivers expectingly. You reach a hand down between you both so you can grab his still semi-hard cock. He gasps in surprise as you start to stroke it.
"Oh. Oh, mistress. I..." He cuts himself off with a struggled cry when you nuzzle his tip into your entrance. "M-Mistress! Mistress. I-If you... If you use my cock like that... Fuck, I might cum again. T-The tip is... It's too sensitive." He whines as he looks up at you, eyes struggling to stay focused on yours as you fake sympathy before slowly sliding down his shaft.
"Please. Please, mistress, puppy is sorry. Puppy-Ah!" He cries out when you take all of him into you.
"Oh fuck, yes..." You gasp, feeling full in an instant and having him withering under you was just as perfect. You start to ride him, feeling him harden between your walls that milk his cock so good. He's a mess of whines and whimpers under you as you speed up.
"You better not cum." You whisper as you grab his neck firmly. "You wanna earn back your collar, right?" You taunt quietly as you ride him, hand on his neck as he nods fast.
"Yes! Yes, mistress! I-I want... I want my collar. Puppy can be good. Puppy will be so good!" He moans as he grips the bedsheets, knowing not to touch you without permission...
"Tongue out." You order as you choke him a bit harder, making him gasp for air, but he opens his mouth with no hesitation, tongue rolling out as his eyes roll shut. You spit in his mouth and watch as he swallows it.
"Thank you! Thank you, mistress! T-Th-Thank you for the drink..." He whimpers as he starts to thrust up into you, actually hitting your spot with how his hips were angled.
"Oh! Oh fuck..." You moan as you hold his neck hard for balance.
"That's it. That's it, mistress. Use puppy. Puppy is so dumb. Such a dumb toy..." He whines as he looks up at you in awe. You love these moments. Moments where even as your 'dumb puppy' he was still smart enough to know how to make you feel good. It was a sensitive balance. He knew when to give and when to take.
"Master, fuck! Yes, yes, yes." He cries out as you feel his cock throb deep inside of you. It feels so good. You sit down on his cock fully to grind hard against it as you feel yourself get closer.
With no warning from you, you cum around his cock, squeezing it as he calls out your name in pure pleasure, not caring who's around. You wished everyone could hear him right now. 'Mr. Seven days a week' was a puddle under you, and you didn't mind if the whole world knew.
You lean down and bite at the spot below his ear as he cries out. "That's it. That's the spot!" He manages to cry out. "Mistress... I'm cumming again!" He whimpers and you suck on his ear lobe as he fills you up, trembling under you.
He's a weak and whimpery mess under you as you pull away to kiss him softly and meaningfully, always a fan of these intimate moments after using him so freely. "Thank you, mistress. Thank you so much..." He whispers quietly as he looks up at you, his eyes shining with adoration as usual. You look at him for a moment as you think about everything that had happened today.
"You really didn't notice, did you..." You whisper after a moment of searching his eyes. He hums softly as he shakes his head. He really had paid no attention to all the girls around him all day long, giving him long looks and overly giggling at his jokes.
"I'm your puppy. I only see you." He whispers tiredly as he looks up at you. You sigh softly at that and shake your head.
"I'm sorry. I guess long distance has me... Paranoid." You sigh as you lay full on him, your chest pressed against his as your hands move to wrap above his head. his hands tenderly stroke your hips lovingly.
"Never be sorry. It's hard, but... I want every minute of this relationship with you, Y/N. I love you..." He whispers as he shuts his eyes when you start to stroke his hair back. You smile sheepishly at that.
"Mm... You've earned back your collar. Sweet talker..." You mutter playfully before pecking his lips softly, making him smile wide and giggle, proud of himself.
"Thank you, mistress..." He whispers playfully and you snort.
"Not so fast..." You say before sitting up again so you're back on his cock. He shivers quietly and looks up at you in surprise.
"I'm not done yet. I wanna ruin you first..." You whispers happily before kissing him happily.
******************************************
Hope ya'll liked it.... Again, I'm sorry it isn't exactly what was asked for, but sometimes you gotta give the people what they need even when they don't know they need it lol.

finally posting my contribution to @carolmunson’s cutest writing challenge!
please please please join in if you can!! there’s no pressure, and I had such a good time with this. it made me all giggly and soft, which is something I haven’t experienced to this level whilst writing for a little while 🫶🏻
the scene: a romantic night in at the trailer
props: a throw pillow, vanilla frosting, a small notebook
dialogue prompts can be found in the original guidelines post linked up top!
word count: 3.5k (huh?!!? this ended up a lot longer than I anticipated)
content/warnings: female physical descriptions and she/her pronouns used for reader character throughout, original series eddie (no au), friends to lovers, questioning relationship (unestablished, that weird in between), first date, fluff on fluff on fluff, a little angsty at the start but we lighten up, cringe-worthy flirting that makes my heart flutter, first kiss (🥹!!!!), slightly suggestive (no smut), swearing.
Tumblr media
The cool evening breeze sweeps at the hem of your pinafore dress, a fitted denim ensemble that hugs the fat of your hips and thighs, sitting snugly at your waist, paired with a pretty floral long-sleeve.
The trailer park can be spooky at this time of night, especially with a little chill in the air - you have always gotten the creeps standing out here too long. You tuck the two VHS tapes you’d brought along under your arm, a six-pack of Miller Lite beers grasped faithfully in one hand, the other free fingers fidgeting with some loose cotton strands at the end of your sleeve.
Now that you were here for a date, you surely couldn’t just knock twice and waltz in like you own the place, like you usually do. Jesus, your collar is fucking tight. You fumble with your shirt, forefinger raking back and forth over the threads, the thin material somehow not granting you enough precious airflow.
You had never been so nervous around Eddie. Never had you really needed to think about your outfit or your hair or even your goddamn makeup.
But now. Now, it was different. After a slip of the tongue amidst a heated argument over something that you couldn’t even place clearly anymore. One that erupted because Eddie had failed another math test, or another subject similar along those lines. Not caring about his education enough to actually scrape his high school diploma from the bottom of the barrel, one that would soon be a vacant void if he didn’t pull his head out of his ass.
“Why do you even care?!” he had yelled at you, actually fucking yelled. Eddie hated the way you looked at him, eyes laced with disappointment and an anger you didn’t mean; the downturn of your brows and a deep crease at the very top of the bridge of your nose. A place that he had wanted to litter with gentle kisses more times than he could count.
It had shocked him too, the sudden raise of his voice, an air of malice coating the words. Though it wasn’t aimed at you, not really. Eddie just couldn’t bear the idea of you, somebody he cares so much about, being yet another person that viewed him as such a failure.
It had just tumbled out, an admittance of pathetic besotted pining that had built to mountainous heights over the years. A mentos in a cola bottle, the whistle of a kettle on the stove at boiling point, you just couldn’t help it.
“Because I like you!” you had called back twice as loud, though the ferocity was near triple of Eddie’s.
“Like, really fucking like you, Eds” you admitted quieter that time, only able to steal quick glances at his astounded expression - a jarred sort of picture painted on his face, chocolate eyes wide and jaw loose at the hinges.
“You… you do?”
So here you stood one week later, on a chilly mid-March Saturday night, on the front step of Eddie Munson’s trailer - a person who you held near and dear as a friend since middle school and, at arm's length, a kindling flame, always believing that your infatuation was completely one-sided.
Therefore once your romantic desires turned out to be reciprocated, your heart was in your throat and your head spun dizzy in a dream-like state.
Another flatten of the front of your dress, a press of your middle finger to the tacky gloss of your lips, and you were knocking on the front door. Folding your arms over yourself was a grand task to keep yourself busy for a moment - fingers strangled by the plastic casing surrounding the alcohol and tapes almost slipping from under their secure hiding spot.
You start to pick clumsily at the skin just above the nook of your elbow whilst you wait for said date to answer the door. Of course he didn’t keep you waiting long, though it was foreign for him to have to answer the door to you. Eddie appears in five seconds flat, hair perfectly mussed and the waft of his aftershave - the surprisingly good kind, pine and amber - erupts millions of butterflies in the pit of your stomach.
You feel like a dumbass kid, one disgustingly love-struck and naive. A feeling you aren’t overly familiar with, not to this degree. Of course you had your school girl crushes, fawning over your too large poster of Rick Springfield you had pinned up on proud display at the back of your bedroom door.
But with Eddie? It was totally unmarked territory, when you step meekly into his living room, uncharacteristically bashful, it sets alight that same adrenaline rush as if you were diving headfirst into shark infested waters. This was real life, your real life. He wasn’t a chart-topping celebrity you had ripped pages out of magazines for, Eddie was someone you had known only on platonic terms for nearly ten years.
“You look nice. Like, uh, really nice” Eddie compliments as he shuts the door.
“Y’made an effort for little ol’ me?” his grin stretches wide, a real pretty wide, a sort of grin that has never-ending smile lines rippling across his pink cheeks. Eddie matches your bashfulness, a shared tensisity that envelopes the air between you like thick black smoke accompanying the climbing licks of a fire.
You snort, such flattering remarks like this from him in this context was weird, but it felt so fucking good.
“You clean up pretty well yourself” your smile matches his, and it was true. Eddie did make an effort when it mattered; decked out in neat black jeans that unusually had no holes in the knees, the same makeshift handcuff belt, a faded white Van Halen t-shirt, completed with a dark olive green flannel that was cuffed to the elbows as the cherry on top.
The man was looking delicious, the same ripened fruit that tempted Eve in the garden of Eden, but you try not to stare too hard.
“I brought a couple movies,” you say, setting the beers atop the kitchen counter. “We’ve got ‘The Texas Chainsaw Massacre’ or one that Harrington said was pretty good, ‘The Breakfast Club’”.
You hold them both up to Eddie, who is smirking, a boyish expression that makes your stomach do backflips.
“Those are two wildly different options,” he snickers for a moment, a small pause before continuing with a mischievous bite, “And Harrington, huh?”.
Your brow raises warily, sensing a playful game of verbal tennis stirring up between you, the atmosphere electric. “I mean yeah, he does work there, Eds”.
“Aaahhh,” Eddie strings with an epitome of understanding, one you’re not certain that you’re following. “Now I know why you were almost a half hour late. Y’been chatting it up with other guys.”
“Don’t be like that,” you scold him lightly, “That’s not even true! Plus, do you really think I'd be here on a date with you if I had the hots for pretty boy?”.
Eddie takes pride of place at the end of the couch closest to you, hair enveloping his face as he crosses the living room.
“Oh? So he's a pretty boy now too?”.
You’re propped up against the kitchen counter, hip to the wooden cabinet, elbow leaning on the counter top. “You are the easiest person to get a rise out of, you know,” there was that smile again, a fond roll of your eyes in hand with the blooming cherry red at the apples of your cheeks.
Plus you’re prettier anyways, by a long shot.
“Hm. Will need to have a talk with Stevie-boy about trying to steal my girl”. Eddie notices the beaming display of pearly whites that earns him, one as radiant and scorching as the July afternoon sun.
‘My girl’.
It lights you ablaze from the inside out, the pound of your heart a booming bass drum in your ears, one vicious and overwhelming, and you suddenly become aware of every single vein and delicate capillary rushing with red hot blood.
“So… movie?” you’re holding up the chunky VHS tapes in either hand, insinuating pointedly to the macabre horror you were both certainly more inclined to, a jiggle of the dull clunk of plastic on plastic.
“Your choice, babe.” Eddie stretches an arm across the back of the couch, one leg swung up onto the well-worn cushion folded into a triangular shape. The space he had left for you was near disastrously tempting, able to fit perfectly cozy beside him, head crooked into the juncture of his neck.
Babe wasn’t new, but tonight it strung velvety smooth across his vocal cords with a much rosier lilt. Of course Eddie notices the bite at the inside of your cheek, the tightening at the corner of your mouth whilst you turn away from him. God, you don’t think that you’ll ever get used to this sort of giddiness.
“You got popcorn?” a wiggle of your brows in his direction and he’s giggling, a noise you hadn’t quite heard, breezy and flippant, overly juvenile but it was endearing.
“Actually,” Eddie jumps up from his spot on the couch, the shabby fabric already indented with a shadowed figure, remaining perfectly vacant until the owner returned.
“I thought that we could make chocolate chip cookies. You like cookies, right?” He pulls the multitude of ingredients from the cupboards and fridge, a stockpile threatening to topple from his arms. You watch him fondly, head propped up on the heels of your palms.
“I wrote the recipe down in this notebook. Debbie a couple doors down wouldn’t let me borrow her cookbook, said I couldn’t be trusted. Not sure if they’ll turn out any good but, yeah,” Eddie peers at you doe-eyes as he scratches the back of his head, fluffy locks exaggerated. He had washed his hair, it was always a dramatic transformation when he did. You were special.
“You made all this effort for little ol’ me?” you perk up, eyes swimming crystalline, brimming with the kind of tenderness only you could omit. Eddie chuckles, flipping open the notebook to decipher his rushed scrawling decorating the lines in smudged black ink.
So you did bake cookies together, a welcome ease to the tautness that strung tight in the air. You could get used to this, pottering around the kitchen, knowing Eddie on this entirely new plane of existence. You bump hips and snicker like kindergarteners, swiping off stray puffs of flour that somehow managed to settle under his eyes, allowing your thumbs to linger there for some selfish moments too long.
“I ran out of like, the nice cups, is this okay?” Eddie hands you the now chiller beer on ice once your baked goods sat safe and sound on the oven rack, a rather ghastly looking E.T. printed onto the cool glass. The picture was chipped and scraped in parts, appearing crummy considering the movie was still fairly new, though you didn’t mind.
You survey the glass up at your nose, rotating your wrist clockwise and opposite, lips form a downturn when you realise that the poor friendly alien had been decapitated without the tender loving care it obviously needed.
“It’s perfect”, you exhale a brief laugh lightheartedly, patting the cushion beside you, and Eddie spared not a moment more before he dived onto the couch with a similarly shabby looking glass in hand, though this one was embellished with a flaking Lord of the Rings design.
Now you were lounging together, taking up that place beside Eddie you had peered at so ardently earlier in the night, his hair brushing your cheek and the trailer enveloped in a cushy blanket of navy, apart from the blaring flickering white of the television screen.
Your head rests against his collarbone, his own tilted downwards so that his jawline was cushioned by your crown. This kind of more intimate contact came with a natural ease that neither of you had expected. The longer the clock ticked by, spending time together like this went from the sensation of that first crisp splash into the deep end of the pool that froze you to the bone, slowly, to the comfortable warming lull of floating down the lazy river.
You could float down the lazy river hand in hand with Eddie for the rest of eternity.
You weren’t sure how long you both enjoyed each other's company, the closeness, the minor skin to skin contact - long enough to empty your first cups of beer. But the awful smell of something burning soon seeped in from the direction of your precious cookies in the oven.
Eddie’s head shoots up when yours does, two noses sniffing up at the air. Eddie darts for the kitchen, and low and behold, behind the dirtied glass of the door and swaddled in smoke, were some very cremated looking cookies.
“You didn’t set a timer?” you questioned him, following close to his heels as he allows the smoke to billow free. The kitchen area quickly enfolds with the smog, stinging your eyes and catching at the backs of your throats. It was only a matter of time before the noise of the movie was drowned out by the alarming smoke detector.
“You said you would!” Eddie asserts, dumping the blackened cookies into the trash bearing an extremely puppy-like look on his face as you’re fanning the detector with a dish towel.
He sets the now empty tray back on the counter, winces at the high pitched ringing whilst pressing his finger to close off one ear. With another few bats of the rag, the alarm finally shuts off, and Eddie stands hand on hip just staring at you.
You shrug your shoulders, a pitying purse of your lips when the boy's face falls, brows pinching ever so faintly. You could kiss away every sad face he ever pulled.
“You have any vanilla frosting?” you ask lightly, shuffling through the cabinets only to find a couple tins of canned soup and a box of half eaten cheeze-its. Eddie observes the ingredients you had packed neatly away next to the sink, unfortunately not enough remained to make another batch.
“I don’t know where you think you are but I can assure you that I don’t,” his voice is sterner than he intends, crossing his arms, pissed off at himself that he had messed up what he wanted to be a perfect first date.
“Sad,” you respond dryly through a suck of the teeth, tilting your head back and towards him, almost swinging from the handles of the cabinets. “I could eat that shit with a spoon”.
Eddie grimaces, “and you… like that?”.
You mirror his expression, glossy lips stretching into an open-mouthed half smirk, arms folded and shoulders slumped forwards, turning full bodied to step gradually into his personal space. You have to crane your neck up some to meet his eyes, ones as dark as a piping hot shot of espresso.
“Eddie, it’s okay,” you assure him when his spread fingers skate lightly along his clothed ribs, a self-soothing action you were well accustomed to, one that shatters your heart a little. “The grocery store might still be open, we can go get some ice cream”.
You run your own fingers along the tops of his arms, brushing beneath the cuff of his sleeves. Your touch was soft, delicate, fingertips glacial compared to the flush of his skin. Eddie Munson was on fire.
“Hey…” You press the palm of your hand to his cheek, stippled a carnation coloured pink due to the light buzz of alcohol, plus the fact that you were touching him so tenderly had his pulse point racing. It was an innate response, to reach up and press the plush of your lips to his cheek, barely an inch or two from the corner of his mouth.
“I’m having a really good time with you, okay?”.
“Okay…” Eddie murmurs back, a low melodious noise as one large fervent hand closes over the one you held to his face. You think that he is about to return the favour, maybe draw you into another one of many tight hugs you had shared before.
Except by the way Eddie tugs at your sleeve behind your elbow, his arms unraveling to welcome you chest to chest, you swallow over a dry throat in the moments it takes you to catch up.
Eddie’s lips are soft, you already suspected that by the pouts you were a victim to over the years, fleeting thoughts of what they would feel like pressed to yours.
His body invades yours, the kitchen surrounding you bleeding into a shadowy blur, bleeding hazes of the movie scenes bursting into crimson and neutral coloured supernovas. Your hands are buried in his shaggy brown locks before you could even register your movements, pinching at his roots at the nape of his neck.
It was desperate. It was downright addicting, the way he tasted. His lips tacky with your glassy strawberry flavoured gloss, smearing to the corners with every open mouthed part. It was a shot of heroine in your veins and the highest of highs Eddie could never dream of reaching, a hit like no other.
The ice wasn’t just broken, the entire frozen lake was smashed to smithereens beneath your feet. Though you cut it short before anything can get too hot and heavy despite the sting it spikes right at the center of your heart.
“For the record…” he interjects, a tiny whisp of a kiss pressed to the end of your nose, “I think you’re sweet enough. You don’t need any frosting” Eddie smirks when you part, tone less cloudy and more challenging, that lost puppy-dog expression replaced by a playful and troublemaking smugness.
Your lips seal together in a tight line, despite his atrocious attempt at some romantic banter, neither of you could keep it in for very long, and you both burst out in reams of laughter.
You push him away at the chest, though your hands certainly linger there, basking in the physical contact that you now craved more than ever. “Never say that to me again! Come on, loser. We have a movie to finish”.
Your attention no longer settles on the teens in peril before you, the guts and gore no longer piquing any iota of interest. Eddie’s hands were all over you, though not in a sinful sense. It was suggestive, sure.
The tap tap tap of his fingers at the inside of your thigh, an absentminded tick to distract Eddie’s racing mind. His nails skimming the tender ticklish flesh at the curve of your neck, catching the thrumming artery and the muted hitch of your breath, up behind the back of your ear and down to brush at your collarbone beneath your shirt.
You’re turned into him now, a casual position where you could both hide behind the throw pillow and giggle through a particular jumpscare.
“Stop making me nervous” you mutter, his grin lengthening twice as wide when he notices that you’re smiling too.
“I'm making you nervous?” he nuzzles his nose under your cheekbone, pressing further into you to trap you at the corner of the couch, one hand grasps at your shoulder whilst the other strokes small feathery circles just above your knee.
“Eddie!” you exclaim, sitting up and away a fraction from the warmth of his side, grabbing the throw pillow within your reach to swat at his chest.
“Baby”.
Your eyes light up, a startle shaking in your chest, releasing a whisper of a gasp you didn’t mean to. Eddie tilts his head to the side, closing the gap between you a little more, eyes heavy lidded and they twinkle with the reflection of the screen across the room.
His voice is low, muttering to you as if he’s sharing a secret. “I can call you that? baby?”.
“If- if you don’t stop that right now, Munson, we’re gonna have a problem”. Christ, he’s making you fucking tremble.
“Oof, and we’re back to last name basis,” Eddie feigns offense, palm to his sternum in a false wound of his ego. Though he’s impossibly close now, lips meer inches from meeting for a second time, and you can almost fucking taste him again.
“My girl seems to work pretty well on you,” his breath skims the bridge of your nose, cheap beer and spearmint.
“If you’re trying to make this go somewhere that you shouldn’t be…”
Eddie inhales a dramatic breath, clutching at his shirt. “How dare you suggest such a thing! I would never dream of taking advantage of such a sweet thing as yourself. I am a gentleman!” he proclaims, all gun but no smoking barrel.
“You’re talking out of your ass, Eds” you’re in stitches, a saccharine candy-coated chortle that knocks the wind from the space between your ribs, comedic horror plastered all over his face.
Then you’re pulling him in by the collar before he can utter another word.

Just a little blurb, Eddie has a hard time crying, you’re able to help him let go.
1.7K Words
TW - allusions to previous abuse, Eddie is emotional
Eddie having a hard time crying EVER unless he knows he’s fully isolated and even then he tries to hold back as much as possible.  His childhood didn’t leave him much room to learn that it’s okay to show emotions other than anger so he grew up with the understanding that crying was either going to get him beat or put in a timeout outside for hours which didn’t leave him any choice but to suck it up and move on.
When he meets you, you talk about how having a good cry every now and then is so refreshing or if things are falling apart that you always feel better letting everything out and you even feel you can think clearer after.  He doesn’t get it because crying now elicits a fear deep inside of him so he can’t imagine crying to make himself feel better.  How could that make him feel better if all he knew were the repercussions after, not clarity like you tell him?  It was always a casual conversation, just telling each other how you blow off steam.  His way was to smoke his way into oblivion, granted this didn’t provide any clarity after and only temporarily numbed his pain or whatever was bothering him.
So one day he’s having a particularly hard time, nothing is going his way, his van gave out on him in the parking lot at work when all he wanted was to go home which meant he stayed hours after just to fix it and get it running again.  Every event from morning to evening was working against him.  You’d already been laying in his bed since he called earlier and said he was going to be late apologetically and the strain in his voice only gave away that he was struggling internally.  It was something you came to recognize, his voice would get all tight and caught in the back of his throat and his breathing would get heavy whenever the day took an extra large toll on him.  You gathered that there was an urge to cry but he always held back and though he never talked about it in very much depth, you had an idea it was something ingrained into him from childhood and it only broke your heart more.  Either way, you lovingly said you’d be waiting for him at home even though he told you to go to sleep.
The sudden creak of the trailer door and the sound of it closing with the click of the lock had you jolting up in bed, ready to greet Eddie and provide him as much comfort as possible.  Except before you were even able to step onto the carpet below, the bathroom door was shut and locked and sure enough, as you stepped out into the hallway, the only possible outcome was that Eddie had locked himself in the bathroom.  You heard some shuffling around and then silence, not one sound.  It stays like that for about fifteen minutes and now you’re starting to worry.
Quietly approaching the door, the light from inside is peeking through the bottom and finally you hear a sigh.  It’s almost inaudible but you catch it.  Knocking on the door, there is no response even when you call for him.  “Eddie?”  Nothing.  “Eddie, you okay?  You’ve been in there for a while.”  Still nothing.  Luck was on your side tonight since when you reached for the door handle you found that it wasn’t locked and the door began to open.  A little thump is heard as it pushes against Eddie’s thigh, his position curled up with his knees to his chest and his head hung low.  “Shit!  I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to hit you with the door.”  You apologize while slipping into the bathroom and shutting the door behind you.  “It’s okay.”  He whispers.  “Are you okay?”  You ask, still standing over him, unable to read his face.  He just nods.  You’re not sure why you even asked, he would always lie just so he could suffer alone.
Crouching down in front of him, you try to get a glimpse of his face, try to gauge what might be going on.  You gently reach out and tilt his chin up, and he lets you, only to find his big sad eyes.  They’re wet but there are no tears shed and he’s biting his lip anxiously, one of his many habits.  “What’s going on?”  Your tone is soft, an attempt to let him know that you aren’t going to judge him should those tears pooling in his eyes fall.  He responds by shaking his head, his stare now glued to the bathroom floor.  “Baby, talk to me.”  You whisper, cupping his jaw.
It’s not necessarily a flinch in a reaction to you but he quickly moves his face out of your grasp to look up at the ceiling and you can gather that he’s trying to get rid of his tears, sniffling them back.  “Eddie, you can cry, you know that right?”  He just continues to shake his head, fighting a losing battle with himself.  “No.”  His voice cracks, still fixed on the ceiling.  “I can’t.”  He sounds so small, so fragile as his knuckles turn white, gripping his knees.  “I can’t.”  He says a final time, weak.
You’re quick to move closer to him, situating yourself in front of him to again take his face gently in your hands, his hands grabbing at your forearms as if to warn you to stay away.  “Eddie, stop.”  You’re stern but kind, you know what he needs and he can’t keep denying himself.  “No.”  His grip tightens on you but not by much, just enough to show you how much anxiety is coursing through him.  Your thumbs graze over his cheeks, admiring his every feature, even his eyelashes that are wet.  There’s a fear in his eyes, from what you’re not sure but it’s definitely present, you’re beginning to conclude that the thought of crying ignited some kind of fear and you don’t even need to put all the pieces together to understand that he believes there are consequences of some kind if he allows it to happen.  “Hey, listen to me.”  You keep your voice hushed as if you could scare him off at any moment.  His gaze is fixed on you, almost concentrated in a way that he’s trying to work out an escape.  “Nothing bad is gonna happen.  I promise.  You can cry.  I’m not gonna do anything, no one is gonna do anything, okay?”  Somehow the words reach him, you know this by the way he softens, by the way his grip on your arms loosens and his body slightly relaxes.  He doesn’t fully give in but it’s a start.  “Rough day?”  You ask, tucking a curl behind his ear, now trying to coax him into a comfort zone.
He doesn’t know why those two words release the waterworks but they do and suddenly hot tears are spilling down his cheeks despite his inner protests.  He’s shaking his head as if to take it all back but you’re already pulling him toward you, cradling his head to your chest.  Sobs escape him and he’s suddenly just full on bawling in your arms, a major contrast to earlier.  It’s as if something snapped in him that made him release every emotion he was feeling at the moment and it was evident as the tears soaked your shirt.  He now gripped at the sleeves of your t shirt, his body shaking and you feel so helpless but you know this is what he needs, to just cry without worry and to realize that he’s safe doing so.
“I know, let it out.”  You tell him while running a hand up and down his back, his sobs only increasing intensity at your words.  “There you go, let everything go.”  He’s never felt so secure while falling apart.  It goes on for at least ten more minutes.  Ten more minutes of emotions being released from his deepest depths that have never surfaced before.  After that he begins to slowly calm down, hiccups escaping him while his breathing stutters and he wipes his remaining tears on his own shirt.  The ashamed expression he wears conveys that you will need to work on this with him but it’s still a giant step which only makes you proud.  You let him take the initiative from here, let him decide if he wants to talk or if he wants to simply leave it because there is no wrong choice, just one that makes him more comfortable.
Several minutes go by as he regulates his breathing and avoids your eyes, the two of you just sitting on the bathroom floor in the warm lighting.  What he says—rather croaks out only shatters you more.  “Sorry.  I’m sorry.”  That simply won’t do so you gather his hands in yours and press a kiss to his damp cheek, being as delicate as possible.  “There is nothing to be sorry for, Eddie.  Nothing at all.  I’m glad I could be here with you.”  You squeeze his hands to punctuate, wanting him to understand how serious you are, how truthful your words are.  “We can talk if you want.”  You continue quietly, pushing his bangs out of his eyes, a slight hint of anxiety traveling through him as his gaze darts around the small room.  “Or we don’t have to talk at all.  Whatever you want.  But either way I’m right here.”  You remind him, offering a soft smile while looking into his big doe eyes.  “Not going anywhere, okay?”  He wants to cry again, god does he want to just burst out in tears again but this time it’s out of thankfulness that he feels safe enough to let spill down his cheeks.  And so he does.  He cries again while pressing his forehead to yours, letting you see him, raw and unfiltered.  “Thank you.”  He whispers, nose nudging against yours, one of his tears escaping the tip of his and onto your lip and you don’t budge, maybe even shedding a few yourself.
You may not comprehend the impact you had on him that night but it meant more to him than anything and though he still struggles with letting you see him at his lowest points, emotionally bruised and broken down, he’s forever grateful for you and your compassion.  No one has ever been so gentle with him but he figures it’s something he could get used to.

he's a fan favorite for a reason he is so lovely and sweet and incredibly self-sacrificing and during my favorite story expansion, shadowbringers, we meet him as the crystal exarch- a leader of a dying world who has summoned us to help because we are that world's last hope. and his grand plan to save said world is ultimately to sacrifice himself. he's very depressed and very mysterious and slowly dying because his life force is tied to the crystal tower where he resides, which is what grants him power to keep going but is slowly crystallizing him, and he's just a very deeply tragic character at first... but then at the end of shadowbringers he LIVES! he has a new lease on life! and he didn't expect to ever get that far! so afterwards he's just so deeply earnest and excited about everything and it's so cute... so sweet... i love u graha <3 and this catboy is like gay as hell like he is soooo blatantly in love with the player character. who, like, officially in trailers and stuff, the default player character meteor, is a man. gayass cat!! anyway here's the crystal exarch figurine, which dnp own, and which i am jealous of them for. but it makes me smile that they have it. bc i love g'raha
Tumblr media Tumblr media
NOW ANYWAY. DAN AND PHIL'S CATBOYS!
Tumblr media
every ffxiv player character is displayed on this website called the lodestone, which has like community stuff and worldwide rankings and such. just like a standard mmorpg hub. and you can look up character profiles on there if youre curious, say, what mounts they have (cause in xiv you can get a whole bunch of different mounts to ride around on, from a massive shiba inu to a t-rex to the classic chocobo you are given at the start of the game to, like, actual cars and motorbikes) or what minions they might have (you can pick a little minion to follow you around in the game! just for like cute little aesthetic purposes. and they have minions of like cute little creatures, bosses you can fight, characters in the game, etc-- for example the minion iiii always have out to follow my catgirl around the world is a mini version of my favorite character y'shtola, who is a goth catgirl who is absolutely everything to me. wife of all time. she has the craziest lesbian dynamic with this goth butch named zero who you meet late in the story and who is SO everything as well. that's not the point. ANYHOW!) (also when phil said in the rating your favs video that if you play a cat in ffxiv youre definitely gay he was literally so fucking right. there are a bunch of different races to choose from, you can be elves, you can be bunny people, you can be dragon people, etc, but well. i play as a cat. they play as cats. fork. kitchen)
ANYHOW. so when phil said recently that his catboy was named MIKO STRIKER i was like "omg... i have GOT to go search him up on the lodestone and see what job he plays and how far he's gone in the story and such" and hereeee is his profile:
Tumblr media
31st sun of the 1st astral moon does translate to january 30th bc the ffxiv calendar is offset by a day. anyway the fact phil plays summoner is both so endearing and makes so much sense to me bc it's pretty well-known as the easiest dps class to play in the whole game. and i also started out playing summoner when i started!! and part of the summoner job is, well, summoning these magical creatures called carbuncles:
Tumblr media
isnt this thing cute... i love carbys. i named mine cherry tomato. im sure his is called susan or something ^_^ so delighted by the summoner rep. anyway then i went to look at his minions & mounts cause certain parts of the story award certain minions & mounts and i was like well i GOTTA know if dan and phil have finished endwalker (the most recent, emotionally devastating story expansion) (they have not, btw. both of their catboys are in the gear you get RIGHT before embarking on the final and MOST emotionally devastating leg of the story, but they don't have the mount and minion you get from FINISHING IT, which is killing me sooo bad. you guys.... go play the end of the story.... go cry.... it made me cry for like 7 hours nonstop it was so emotionally devastating. go do it lads)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
so yeah phil does lack the venat minion and argos mount which you get from finishing endwalker. but he DOES have this cute carbuncle mount which you have to buy with real money mind you!! and they come in 3 colors on the shop. this is phil's. made me smile :)
Tumblr media
and well after looking at phil's profile i was like "of course he doesn't play any other classes. yeah that makes sense. BUT i wonder about dan. where is his catboy" but without a name i couldn't find his profile without insane digging or something so i forgot about it UNTIL i was rewatching wdapteo sometime after christmas and i got to THIS picture:
Tumblr media
and the thing is that dan's catboy here is wearing job-exclusive gear. only people who play the monk class can wear that outfit there. my first thought was "what the fuck is wrong with him monk is the most baffling job on the entire planet" my second thought was "yeah ok of COURSE he plays monk" my THIRD thought was "wait. i can just look up catboy monks on the server miko is on then. i can totally go look at dan's catboy" and did so and within like five seconds arrived at D'HASH TIA here ^_^
Tumblr media
which like. definitely dan's catboy given the pictures we've seen of him. and the ffxiv calendar, again, is offset by a day, so the birthday IS june 11. bingo ^_^
and what is so special to me about this is that dan's catboy has a "canon" name while phil's absolutely does not-- sun seeker miquo'te (cat people) have clan names and then titles, basically, so a canon sun seeker male name would be like. letter of the clan, apostrophe, name, then "tia" at the end which is just a title for young males (like dearest g'raha tia). so yknow. d'hash tia is a proper canon name while also being so incredibly dan to pick, methinks. i love it
(and then i was going thru a lot and rewatched the japhan 2019 instagram stories and realized i didnt need to go thru so much because we've actually known theyre monk and summoner players since 2019. they went to the ffxiv cafe. they got job-specific drinks. for their fucking jobs. dan got the monk drink. phil got the summoner drink. it was always right there. theyre so funny)
Tumblr media
i do think it's so funny that neither of them have ever played another job in all their years of playing ffxiv. u guys there are so many jobs out there..... dan go unlock dark knight i know you would love the job story i know it in my heart...... but no they have stuck to their guns they have stuck to their classes all this time. it's beautiful to me
anyway d'hash tia's minions and mounts mostly match miko striker's which makes a lot of sense to me bc i imagine they probably play most of xiv together
Tumblr media Tumblr media
BUT the carbuncle mount d'hash has is the RED ONE. which sent me through every single stage of emotions ever.... you have to buy those mounts with real money.... and they bought matching ones.......... ridiculous. ridiculous of them.
Tumblr media
AND. dan's catboy also has the fat moogle mount. this beautiful thing right here
Tumblr media
which is another mount that costs real money to buy..... and it's a two-seater................ more likely than not he's flown the both of them around in this thing................... i need everyone to know this information. it's so important. to our society.
(also as an aside. the story they told in wdapteo about going to a gay bar in xiv. i cant state enough how real they were for that. bc roleplay venues are insanely common ingame and its so fucking funny and ive always wanted to go to one just out of sheer curiosity but if anyone ever spoke to me i would instantly log the fuck out. so the fact they did just that and then got flirted with by someone and instantly logged out.... like that's it. that's the exact experience. it's so beautiful)
(as another aside. xiv is real gay i prommy. and looking at their minions lets me know they've also done my favorite raid series, eden, which is essentially. two main characters, thancred and urianger, and their adopted daughter ryne who they CANONICALLY RAISED TOGETHER they are LITERALLY HER FATHERS, work to save the world and meet this goth girl named gaia that ryne falls in love with and like. ryne and gaia are blatantly meant to be canon to the point square enix made a spinoff game where characters very clearly based off them actually ARE together. it's adorable. little baby prep/goth lesbians. i hope dnp love them as much as i do. also im SO sure dan is a thancred fan honestly bc he seems right up dan's alley. anyhow look! arent they cute!)
Tumblr media
TLDR i am such a massive fan of dip and pip's xiv catboys and i need the world to know that they bought matching mounts bc it's SO important to me. and ive gone on great journeys here. amen.

THE POPPY PLAYTIME CHAPTER 3 TRAILER IS SOOO!,?!.?.!.
What a great treat to wake up to—Excuse me while I go insane and spill some thoughts, reactions, theories, and predictions below please
ahem
Tumblr media
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
SO LIKE FIRST OFF this chapter is gonna fuck, like this looks SO good holy shit
The setting and environment looks amazing but also the new hands mechanic along with the mask ohhhh this is gonna be FUN
Okay rambling about screenshots I took time
First off the environments look great, holy wow
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The house itself looks kinda small so idk if that is the orphanage itself or some kind of set. Cause you can see fake sky walls around it, but like this is Playtime Co they would definitely do that to the orphanage also to give an illusion of outside. Either way it looks GREAT and I’m really excited to explore this setting
Just a nice shot of all the critters
Tumblr media
I’m really curious if all the critters are gonna be utilized somehow. We know about Catnap and Dogday already, especially after the trailer itself. Though there was also the footage of Bobby running down the hall, looking like a normal plushie, and possibly seeing Hoppy in the trailer too. (I’ll touch on that later)
New Poster
Tumblr media
Definitely looks like some company propaganda to try and keep kids from being afraid of CatNap. Judging by the files we got before looks like the results were a mixed bag. Considering the gas is there in the poster it’s definitely a company only poster, not something they could sell outside. They manipulated this kids so bad man :(
A CLEANER LOOK OF THIS THING,,,
Tumblr media
THATS A SKELETON COMING OUT OF PUGAPILLAR’S MOUTH…Like that’s just straight up human remains.
I don’t think we’ve ever seen that before in this game. Like blood yeah plenty but BONES? They’re definitely amping things up for this chapter and I’m 100% here for it.
Besides that there’s a ton of plushies and such stabbed onto this weird thing. Is it a shrine? It doesn’t look like it could really move tbh, and if it was meant to be alive those parts aren’t doing anything to help it.
This poor mf
Tumblr media
I’ve seen a lot of people speculate this is DogDay, which is a valid guess, but tbh my first thought was Hoppy. You can tell they have long droopy ears, which lines up with both candidates to me. Though I think the ears look a bit slimmer than what Dog Day’d would be, plus the angle on the head looks more like they’re dropping from the top of the head rather than the sides. I feel like if this was DogDay the whole head silhouette would be different because of the ears, which makes me lean towards Hoppy more.
I know her toy gives her long pointed up ears, but going off art and animation her ears can definitely fold
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So I don’t think it’s out of the question that as a Bigger Bodies being her ears could fold over like that, especially while stuck like this.
Now I could be the one wrong here but I really think this is Hoppy. Won’t know until the game itself though so, I won’t treat either as divinities yet. It could just as easily be the case everyone else is right and it is DogDay, there’s evidence for that as well (Again, I’ll touch on that later).
So much happened here where do I even start
Tumblr media
Obvious out the bat I guess, Kissy Missy is back!! And looks like Poppy isn’t ditching us alone either! Man I cannot tell it Poppy is good or not at this point, gray area? Trailer dialogue definitely sounded like she was supporting us.
“We’re coming! Just hold on!”
It’s really nice seeing Kissy back, really excited to see how she’s gonna help and play into this. I’ve been on the stance that she’s good ever since she helped in chapter 2 so this is really cathartic for me lmao.
As for what Poppy says here I found it interesting, like really interesting. Like, hearing it the first time made me think she casually confirmed something massive interesting. Granted, actually thinking about it longer, it could mean something else entirely. But was that the whole point?
“What’s happening down here is bigger than all of us. I need you. So we can revenge on those monsters who’ve tortured you, who’ve tortured us.”
“Those monsters who’ve tortured you”
Now, once I thought about it this is most likely referring to the literal monsters in the factory. Huggy, Mommy, CatNap, so on and such. But that’s not what my initial assumption was.
When Poppy referred to “monsters”, by first thought was the people working at the factory. I thought she said people at the factory tortured us.
I thought she confirmed that we’re a toy.
Once I thought about it longer, it doesn’t actually confirm that. But what if that’s the entire point? A double meaning line?
Now the player being a toy theory is something that’s been around since chapter 1, a theory I’ve fully stood by since then and still do. I like to think that’s why our character is completely silent, we’re a toy that can’t speak. Mute toys is something we’ve seen plenty of in the factory, more so than toys that actually talk. (Unless you count stuff like the Smiling Critters cartoon or the cardboard cutouts, but I’m talking purely living beings here.)
So while this doesn’t confirm the theory, this line is definitely throwing wood into the fire for me.
DogDay
Tumblr media
Wether or not the chained Bigger Body above us DogDay or Hoppy, we have it confirmed here that DogDay is featured heavily in this chapter as an enemy. Again, I really wonder if the other Smiling Critters will show up as threats as well. Maybe a mixed bag of good and bad critters. If the chained up Bigger Body is DogDay, I wonder why he chases us after we assumingely set him free.
One note I’ll give that is to evidence for the chained bigger body being DogDay is that in the thumbnail you can see a shackle on his wrist
Tumblr media
His arms are also long and lanky, which is why I won’t completely rule out it possibly being him there. It’s just as possible that it is him, both feel very plausible to me.
Though looking at the game footage, I’m not sure if can can see anything on his wrists. Additionally his arms look much wider than the one in thumbnail.
Additionally, the DogDay in the thumbnail looks so much like a…mascot suit? You can see seams and stitches all over him. Even other Bigger Bodies don’t look like that. Which is something I wanna give its own post to to figure deeper on.
So is this even the same DogDay at all?
Tumblr media
It’s not completely out of the question there could be multiple DogDays, though that begs the question, what about other Smiling Critters? What about other toys as a whole?
Here’s my prediction on it. One Bigger Bodies experiment, and then there’s smaller ones approximately the size of their normal toys.
I think the DogDay in the thumbnail is a result of the Bigger Bodies testing, and the one actually chasing us is just a smaller more “normal” DogDay.
But if that’s true then it begs the question, what about other critters? We’ve seen a smaller Bobby before, does she also have a Bigger Bodies version?
Do they all have a Bigger Bodies equivalent?
Is there still a normal CatNap?
Again, all speculation but this chapter especially is really tickling my brain.
And finally we’ve got the man of the hour
Tumblr media
Man he is so much lankier than I thought he would be. That definitely explains why his face was so high up on that one cam footage though. Here I was thinking he’d be bulky!
There isn’t too much to say here other than CatNap is definitely gonna be an imposing threat, and I’m very excited to see him in game. So far we’ve mainly seen him through silhouettes, and light peeks at small portions of his design. Seeing him better is game is gonna be a thrill and I’m so ready for it!
Additionally, just for the sake of adding on, we’ve seen these posters apparently from overseas get spread around lately
Tumblr media
Both of these definitely look like they’re meant to be company only posters, ones you’d find in the schooling and orphanage areas.
The left poster telling kids to go inside right away when recess is up, nothing super deep here. Just a peek at the schooling that had here, and that these kids had their lives completely contained within the factory.
The second poster is CatNap telling Huggy to go to sleep, another attempt at convincing children CatNap isn’t dangerous. If Huggy is fine they will be too, right?
Anyways that’s my initial thoughts and reactions right after watching the trailer. VERY excited about this game, it’s been awhile since I’ve been able to brainstorm on my own over a game like this so I’m really looking forward to what this chapter has to give.

alright. WHAT is a Raven Cycle. What is this story about. All this time seeing you pointed about these people, but it took me ages to figure out what the "trc" tag even stood for -- that poll you just reblogged in fact. I'm ready. Give me the pitch.
HI.
the raven cycle is a series of four books by maggie stiefvater: the raven boys, the dream thieves, blue lily lily blue, and the raven king. there is a follow-up trilogy called the dreamer trilogy made up of three books: call down the hawk, mister impossible, and greywaren.
(my 'cdth' tag is my tag for the sequel series, which i like even more than trc.)
it's a YA modern fantasy series set in a small town in rural virginia. the series focuses on a gang of five teenagers (a sixth joining in book 3/4) who are all dealing with various magic bullshit in their lives. one is looking for a dead welsh king along a ley line in the mountains of virginia, because legend says that the king can be woken and grant a wish.
the problem is that this boy, gansey, is going to die.
we know this because the one girl in the group (sorry women. there are more women in cdth i SWEAR), blue, saw his ghost on st mark's eve. which means he will die within the next year. why did she see his ghost?? because he's either her true love, or she killed him.
or, you know. both. if you're a girl who's cursed to kill your true love with a kiss. as she is.
blue does not want to kill anyone. blue also does not want gansey to be her true love. they get off on the wrong foot entirely and she decides he's the devil for a little while. blue is overall having a bad time with the world and her place in it and the fact that she's the only non-psychic person in a family of psychics, And Also She Doesn't Want To Kill Anyone.
so the question is -- for all four books -- what..... would make her kill gansey. how is gansey going to die.
gansey's three other closest friends are boys in varying states of emotional turmoil.
ronan, who is where my URL comes from, is a suicidal bipolar maniac alcoholic who spends all of his time trying to kill himself. and is also magic as fuck. and hiding it. and going out street racing with a guy who wants to eat him. and they're kind of fucking about it. they technically never fuck except like. they're kind of fucking about it
adam is a trailer trash kid paying his own way into the elite boarding school that gansey & ronan attend. his dad is physically abusive to the point of adam's life being in constant danger, but adam refuses to accept gansey's offers of help or safety, because he's determined that nobody else ever Own him.
noah is a quiet kid with a violent past that gansey cares about very deeply, getting into all of his backstory involves major book one spoilers but it is. Rough.
the plot points in the series are complicated to explain because there's a lot of mythology and strange worldbuilding and psychic bullshit and magic all going on and playing off each other. but the series is about these five kids being in a giant pseudo-polyamorous relationship and loving each other and hating each other and wanting each other and killing each other.
it has some of my favorite relationship arcs of all time in any media, ever, and also it like. taught me how to write. LOL. so if you're here from the owl house (??) or from a different fandom and you like how i talk about characters and how i write character conflicts and character arcs and character relationships....... U Get All Of That Shit In The Raven Cycle.
and that's it!

Midnight Rain
Warning/s: Angst
Character/s: Scaramouche x Reader
Synopsis: Reader finally breaks away from Scaramouche as he chooses Haypasia over you to help him in ascending to godhood.
Note: I wrote this before 3.2 so there are errors in regards to the lore with how scara will be defeated and when I saw the trailer midnight rain plays in my mind as Scara looks over at haypasia. Also I'm influenced with Auntie Taylor's new album so here's a brainrot.
Tumblr media
You replay your lover's words over and over in your head, and your face in clear disbelief. When he started talking again, you still didn't comprehend what was going on.
He favored an Akademya researcher, a lesser scholar, over you.  Haypasia was it?
Anger hardly scratches the surface of how you really feel; the only person you trusted has betrayed you. You've sacrificed so much for him, and now he's going to waste everything in order to reach his goal? Were your attempts fruitless? You have basically given your life to him, killed so many, and committed countless other horrible things, all of which you cannot even begin to untangle lest you lose your mind from guilt.
Scaramouche ignores your cries of anguish as he moves around to check on the sleeping researcher, his eyes examining the green-haired maid; his plan is in motion, and no one—not even his lover—will ruin it.
He's almost at the pinnacle of success, about to surpass even his pathetic mother. Exactly how does an archon handle two gnosis at once? He relishes at the thought, chasing the feeling of being in power this time.
He looked at you, his face emotionless, as if you were staring at a statue. A chill ran down your spine as you realized that the person you've grown to love has vanished and been replaced by the monstrosity he's conjuring.
You're naive to think that after all these years he'll finally agree to give up his ambitions and give in to yours so that you can live the comfortable life you've always imagined.
You wanted that comfortable, he wanted that pain.
You wanted a lover, he's making his own fate
Chasing that fame
You stayed the same, while all of him changed like Midnight Rain.
Accepting defeat, you packed up everything you owned at the Akademya.
You glanced back at the door and hesitated; leaving him, leaving everything you've known, hurts, but you know that he won't give up his dreams for you the way you gave up yours, so you kissed his sleeping form and disappeared into the night.
Scaramouche didn't inquire why you weren't at your side of the bed when he discovered you weren't there; he isn't going to let weak human feelings stand in the way of claiming his fate.
He ignores the void that is slowly forming inside of him because he knows you'll be right back by his side no matter what. He'll let you throw your tantrums and wait for you to return, astounded at his new form.
The traveler stopped his ascent, beating him when he was at his weakest. As the traveler utilizes the akasha to distract the Balladeer, painful memories of past betrayals flood his mind.
After freeing Scaramouche from the pipes holding him in place, the metal creature sighs and totters to the floor, its knees weakening under its weight.
Scaramouche looks up, tears streaming out of his eyes, but he doesn't appear to care.
Like a rainstorm that gradually dries up, he has let the hurt of losing you seep into every crevice of the cracks blossoming in him.
The balladeer's eyes scan the crowd gathering around him hopefully for your presence, but you're nowhere to be found.
He's taken the privilege of being yours for granted, discarding you like his mother did. He cries on the floor, surrendering to the pain of living in a life without you to tether him.

You were more excited for December 27th than you had been for Christmas Day. Because December 27th meant going home.
It meant Eddie.
Your dad had barely killed the engine before the front door to Eddie’s trailer was swinging open, the boy eagerly bounding down the porch steps to you. You got out of the car just as he arrived at your side, pulling you in for a bone crushing hug, his warm face buried in your neck.
“Hey sweetheart.” He mumbles against your skin.
“Hey pretty boy.” You grin, matching the strength of his squeeze. It was a wonder neither of your ribs cracked.
Your dad didn’t hang around. He helped you carry your belongings back into your home, gave you one last cuddle, then left you to it, knowing you were keen to make up for lost time with your boy.
As soon as the door clicks closed behind him, Eddie’s on you, pressing your back against the wood as his lips crash against yours.
“Missed you so much.” He murmurs.
“I missed you too Eddie.” You sigh.
Your fingers knot in his curls, the comforting scent of his shampoo and his cologne flooding your nostrils. Pine and spice, and something unmistakably Eddie.
His tongue traces your bottom lip, and you grant him the access he so desperately seeks, your mouth falling open. He explores every inch of you, committing you to memory. His hands squeeze the fat of your hips almost possessively, like he’s terrified your body might turn to smoke and disappear between his fingers.
An all too familiar ache blooms between your legs. Your body cries out for him, and from the firmness in Eddie’s jeans, it’s clear his body is all too happy to answer your siren song.
“Bedroom.” You gasp against his lips.
“Yeah?” He relies breathlessly. His eyes grow wide. He still couldn’t believe that you wanted him like this.
“Yeah.”
When you stumble into your room, you’re surprised to find it in a different state than you’d left it.
Clothes had been strewn across the floor, items discarded carelessly as you chose what to pack. They were nowhere to be seen now, tucked away back in place in the chest of drawers. Your previously rumpled bedsheets were now smooth, the delicate scent of jasmine letting you know they’d been freshly washed.
“Did you do this?” You smile.
“Yeah.” Eddie says softly, his cheeks tinted pink.
“Just wanted it to be nice for you when you got back, that’s all. I hope you don’t mind, I used the key you gave me.”
Your heart swells, your ribs struggling to contain the thumping organ trapped behind them.
“Of course I don’t mind. You’re so sweet to me Eddie.”
You crawl across the covers, laying back with your head on the pillows. Your fingers curl at Eddie, an invitation for him to join you.
His weight pressing you into the mattress is so welcome, warm and firm and comforting.
He kisses you sweetly, but the chaste pecks quickly melt into something more hurried. Soft clicks of spit slick lips fill the quiet in the room, fabric rustling as your hands wander, fist closing tight around Eddie’s shirt to keep him close to you.
Eddie giggles, tilting his head back to look at you with a wry smile.
“What’re you wriggling for Honey?”
You feel your cheeks heat up. You hadn’t meant to squirm, but the feeling of Eddie laying over you, his narrow hips slotted between your spread thighs had you growing increasingly needy.
“Want you to touch me.” You admit quietly, almost whining.
Eddie blushes furiously.
“I - I am touching you.” He stammers.
“No, Ed. Want you to touch me here.”
You take one of his hands, guiding it down until he’s cupping your cunt over your jeans.
“Oh.” Eddie sighs, watching with wide eyes as your hips buck up, pressing against his hand.
“Please Eddie.” You beg. You unbutton your jeans and roll down the zipper.
He sits up, giving you the space to wriggle the fabric down your thighs, taking hold of them and tugging them off the rest of the way. Your legs fall apart once more, revealing the thin layer of soaked cotton that covers your centre.
“Oh shit.” Eddie whispers. His hand hovers awkwardly over you, like he’s scared to touch you.
“You don’t have to, if you don’t want to.” You offer.
“No! I want to. H-how do I..”
You’re surprised by his hesitance. You’d never really asked him about the girls before you, honestly you didn’t want to know. But he must have done this countless times before.
Maybe he was just asking how you liked to be touched. It would be so typical of Eddie to want to be perfect for you, as if there were ever any doubt of it.
“Like this.” You whisper.
You pull his hand back to you, encouraging the pads of his fingers to start where your thighs crease. You allow him a few teasing strokes, rough fingertips over smooth skin. Then you guide him to where you need him most, letting his fingers run up the seam of you.
You sigh, eyelids fluttering shut, back arching all pretty for him.
“Does that feel good?” Eddie whispers.
Yeah. Really good.” You smile.
His fingers continue the motion that you’d shown him, moving up and down slowly. You moan when he applies a firmer pressure, so he maintains it, rubbing at you until you’re sure that his digits must be soaked even with your underwear as a barrier.
“Eddie.” You whimper, hooking your thumbs under the elastic waistband of your panties.
“Can we take these off?”
“Shit. Yeah. We can take them off.” Eddie smiles. His hands replace your own, pulling the garment down your legs and over your ankles, letting it drop to the floor.
Eddie swear his mind goes completely blank when he sees you bare. His breathing stutters and almost stops, his hands frozen in place on your calves, eyes locked on your cunt, the skin shining with slick in the warm amber light of your bedside lamp.
He’s forgotten that he’s supposed to be touching you, too busy staring at you in awe. It’s only when you wriggle again and whine his name that he snaps out of his haze.
“S-sorry.” He mutters.
You giggle sweetly.
“S’okay.”
Eddie’s hands shake as they make their way back to you. He groans when his fingers first make contact with your naked heat, sliding over slick skin that feels softer than he could have ever imagined.
He’s a little clumsy at first, you notice. There’s no rhythm or direction to his movements, he seems to be exploring you with the rough pads of two fingers. His face is almost comically serious, the tip of his pink tongue poking out between his lips, brows furrowed in concentration. It’s so endearing it has your tummy flipping over.
Your breathing hitches when he comes close to your clit, but he doesn’t quite make contact, his fingers moving back down to your entrance before he can brush your bundle of nerves. You’re not sure if he means to tease you, but after the third almost touch, you can’t take it anymore.
“Here.” You whisper softly. You take his wrist and guide him up, and he finally touches you where you need it.
“Oh fuck. Eddie.” You mewl.
“There? That’s the spot?” He asks.
You nod your head, bottom lip clamped between your teeth.
“Y-you can kind of go round it. Like little circles - oh! That’s it.” You squeak.
Eddie was a fast learner, his dedication to understanding your body paying off quickly. Your thighs begin to shake, tension building and making every cell in your body vibrate.
He responds to your moans and writhing by speeding up his movements, but it has the opposite of the desired effect.
“S-slow down.” You instruct gently.
“Just keep doing what you were doing before.”
“Oh, right. Like this?” Eddie asks, his fingers dancing slowly around your bud.
“Just like that.”
You can feel your high approaching, the tension within you reaching breaking point. You’re almost embarrassed at how fast it was all happening. It had been so long since you’d been touched like this.
“Eddie. Kiss me. Please.” You gasp, reaching up to grabs fistful of his shirt again. Eddie lowers himself over you, maintaining the movement of his hand as his lips meet yours in a messy kiss.
“Fuck. Fuck, Eddie!” You cry, the sound muffled by his lips pressed to yours. Warmth floods through you, starting at your core and spreading out through your veins, making the tips of your fingers tingle and your toes curl.
Eddie keeps up his gentle touches as your ride out your orgasm, only stopping when you weakly push his hand away, the overstimulation too much to cope with.
While you pant in an attempt to catch your breath, Eddie studies his fingers, turning them in the light to watch your essence shine on them.
He so desperately wants to shove the digits past his lips, his mouth watering at the thought of tasting you. He’s sure you’d be sweeter than candy.
But he doesn’t act on his urges, worried that you might think him gross. He settles for unceremoniously wiping his hand on his jeans, a dark patch staining the denim.
“Your turn.” You grin.
Eddie barely has time for your words to register before you’re sitting up and pushing him onto his back. You straddle his legs, hands gently squeezing his hips in a soothing massage.
“Do you want me to touch you Ed?” You whisper, that teasing smile he adores playing at the corners of your lips.
“Please.” He whines.
His cock is straining against his jeans, the throbbing almost painful at this point. He groans in relief when you slide his zipper down, tugging on the denim and his boxers just enough to have his length springing up to slap against his stomach.
Pearly precum smears the bottom of his t-shirt, the cotton bunched in his fists, arms laying straight down to keep the clothing in place.
He doesn’t want to ruin this moment. One glimpse of his gnarled and twisted skin, of the pale scars littering his abdomen and he’s sure you’d change your mind. He can see it so clearly, the way your nose would wrinkle with disgust. You’d climb off him and demand that he leave, so put off by the mess that his injuries had made of his body.
But with his scars well hidden, you seem happy to continue. You breathe heavily, staring down at his cock where it lays on his stomach.
He was long, but not intimidatingly so. His girth was what surprised you most, your cunt clenching on nothing at the thought of his thickness stretching you open.
You shake the thought from your head. This wasn’t about you. You wanted to focus on Eddie; worship him and give him all the pleasure he deserved.
Tracing one finger lightly up the vein that decorates his shaft, you smile when his cock kicks up in interest at your touch.
“You’re so pretty Eddie. Every part of you is pretty.” You murmur.
Not every part he thinks bitterly. But his self-loathing thoughts are cut off by your hand delicately wrapping around his cock.
Your pressure starts light, hardly squeezing him at all, just letting your hand slide slowly up and down his length. When your thumb swipes over the weeping slit he gasps, eyes rolling back in his skull as you spread the wetness and use it to create an easier glide.
Eddie’s fists tremble at his side as you hold him tighter, maintaining a languid pace, your hand occasionally twisting as it rises and falls.
He couldn’t contain his sounds even if he wanted to. Your hand feels so different from his own, smooth soft skin replacing callouses earned from years of hard work. Wet noises from his pre coating your palm fill the air, the filthy sound making Eddie’s face burn, cheeks a bright crimson.
“Does that feel nice handsome?” You purr.
“Y-yes.” Eddie sighs.
He tears his eyes away from your hand to look up at your face, his breath catching when he finds you watching him with a tender smile on your face. You tilt your head as you coo at him, voice like silk.
“Doing so good. So good for me.”
The muscles in Eddie’s stomach tighten, his cock pulsing hot and achingly hard in your hand.
He likes that. You make a mental note to explore his reaction to your praise a little more some other time.
“Fuck. D-don’t talk like that.” Eddie begs.
“Why?”
“Because I’ll cum.”
“That’s kind of the point pretty boy.”
You relish in the groan that Eddie releases, watching his head thump back against the pillows. Tendons strain in his neck beneath flushed skin, a fading bruise on the side of his throat making you feel smug.
How lucky you were, for Eddie Munson to be yours. For him to wear the marks of your possession so unashamedly.
You let your eyes drop back to his lap, another bead of liquid leaking from his slit. His tip looks bright red, almost angry, and saliva filled your mouth at the thought of getting a taste.
Your hand never faltered as you shuffle down the bed, laying between his legs.
“What are you doi- oh shit!”
Eddie’s voice chokes off in a high pitched whine the second your lips press a kiss to his head.
You smile, letting your tongue dart out to swirl eagerly over him, collecting his salty essence and swallowing it down.
He’s a mess by the time you take him fully into your mouth, the corners of your lips stinging with the stretch. Drool pools and spills, trickling down to soak his balls, and as your head bobs slowly you let a hand wander down to cup his heavy sack, rolling it in your palm.
Eddie’s babbling curses and praise, syntax broken and disjointed, the words almost nonsensical. He feels like his brain is shutting off, so lost in the pleasure that you give him that he can’t form a coherent thought.
With your nose nestled in the dark curls at his base, the head of his cock nudges the back of your throat. You swallow around him, and Eddie whimpers, his knuckles turned white where he clings to the hem of his shirt.
“H-honey. I’m g-gonna cum.” He stutters.
It’s a warning, an attempt at being a gentleman and giving you the chance to pull off.
You hum through a mouthful of him in acknowledgement of his words, but don’t raise your head. The vibration of your throat around him leaves Eddie powerless to fight it any longer, in honesty he thinks it’s a miracle he’s lasted this long.
He cums with a deep groan, the first spurts of his release sliding hot down your throat. You pull back a little way, leaving the weight of him resting on your tongue, the rest of his cum filling your mouth.
Eddie’s mind is now totally blank as he watches you swallow what he’s given you, your hand still slowly stroking him, tongue kitten licking at his tip like you can’t get enough of his taste.
“Sweetheart.” He says softly, a small plea for mercy.
You could never be cruel to the boy, as much as a part of you would love to continue, see how quickly you could have his softening length standing to attention again.
You release him after one final sweet peck, sitting up and wiping the back of your hand across the wetness smearing your lips and cheeks.
You probably look a mess, hair wild, mascara smudged and streaming. But Eddie gazes up at you like you’re a masterpiece.
“Wow.” He sighs.
You laugh, an airy chuckle with your head tipped back to the ceiling.
“Good?” You ask.
“Amazing.” Eddie confirms.
His trembling hands release his shirt, smoothing over your bare thighs. His fingers trace over the scar there, gently following the swirls on your skin. When he looks up at you, bathed in the soft amber glow, smiling down at him like an angel, he realises he loves you.
It’s not a sudden sharp realisation, more like the final piece of a puzzle being slotted into place in his mind. He loves you, and it fills him with warmth, makes him feel safe and excited for a future he never dared before to imagine.
Eddie gulps, swallowing down the words that try to claw their way up his throat and out his mouth.
It’s too soon to say them.
But it’s enough to know them.

With the phone tucked between your ear and your shoulder, you lean down to fiddle with the strap on your kitten heels, threading it through the buckle and pulling tight.
“So where is he taking you?” Andrea asks.
“I don’t know. He just told me to dress up nice, said we were going somewhere fancy.” You smile.
“Does he usually do fancy?”
“Not really.” You reply, sitting back up in your chair and wiggling your toes until your shoes feel comfortable.
“We usually just hang out y’know? I guess this is kind of our first proper date.”
“You’ve fooled around with him and he hasn’t even taken you on a date yet?” Your friend teases.
“I guess we’ve just been too busy.”
“Hmm. Sounds like you’ve been very busy.” Andrea says. You can practically hear her smirk.
“It’s not like that Dre. He’s… he’s sweet. He’s perfect.”
“Oh my god! You’re in love with him!” Andrea squeals.
“I am not!” You protest, feeling your cheeks grow warm.
“You are! You love him! Oh my god you’re so loved up it makes me sick.”
“Dre…”
“Are you going to tell him?” She asks.
You pause for a moment.
Could you tell him? It was too soon surely, after all, this was your first date. But you’d spend so much time together over the last few months, so maybe that didn’t really matter.
“I don’t want to scare him off.” You admit quietly.
“I don’t think there’s any chance of that. It sounds like Eddie’s head over heels for you too.”
Your stomach flips over at the suggestion, excitement coursing through your veins at the notion that Eddie might feel the same way you do.
A gentle tap at the door distracts you from thinking about it any longer.
“He’s here. I have to go.”
“Okay, have fun. And call me after to let me know how it goes!”
“I will. Love you.”
“Love you too. Wear protection!”
You hear dial tone before you can tell Andrea off, grinning and shaking your head as you hang up the phone.
You hurry over to the door, eager to find out what Eddie has planned for you.

Before he leaves his home, Eddie takes a moment to review the set up in his room.
Steve had talked him through everything, given him a solid game plan to follow.
The table was booked at Enzo’s for seven o’clock. He was under strict instructions: hold the door open for you when you arrive, pull back your chair, don’t order anything with too much garlic.
Eddie had cleared the clutter from his van, and his room was the tidiest he’d ever seen it. The bed sheets were freshly washed, and he’d smoothed out the creases as best he could. Vanilla scented tea lights were dotted around the room, a box of matches waiting on his bedside table, and in the drawer, an unopened box of Trojans.
“What if it’s too much? I don’t want her to get the wrong idea and think I planned all this just so she’d sleep with me.” Eddie had asked hesitantly.
“Look man, girls love this romantic crap. Even if you don’t sleep together, you’ll at least get another blow job out of this.” Steve laughed.
“Dude!” Eddie hissed.
“I’m just messing with you. Trust me, she’s going to love it. And she’s going to say she loves you when you tell her how you feel.”
Eddie hummed vaguely.
“You are going to tell her right?”
“M-maybe. If it feels like the right time.”
“You’ve got this man! I believe in you.” Steve said.
Eddie leaves his room, grabbing the bunch of yellow flowers he’d bought for you before making his way out of the trailer.
His legs feel like jelly as he walks the short distance to your place, his limbs barely holding him up as he ascends the steps of your porch. He takes one more deep breath, and knocks on the door.
When you open it, the air he’s sucked in is stolen from him, chest tightening at the sight of you all dressed up for him.
The black dress you wear hugs close to your body, following the lines of the curves that he loves to skim his hands over. The hem falls just over your knees, and his eyes follow down over your legs hugged by sheer pantyhose, to delicate ankles and dainty black heels.
“Hey Ed.” You whisper.
He looks back up, finding your glossy lips stretched in a wide smile.
“Hey sweetheart.” Eddie says, cringing at the way his voice comes out high pitched from the lump in his throat.
“You look beautiful.”
“Thank you. You’re looking very handsome yourself.” You reply.
Eddie blushes.
He’d felt a little self conscious when he gave himself a once over in the mirror, the dress pants he’d borrowed from Steve a stark contrast to his usual tattered denim.
He was wearing the same black button up from thanksgiving, hoping that you wouldn’t pick up on the fact it was the only smart shirt he owned.
And he’d spent far longer than he’d care to admit agonising over what to do with his hair, eventually acting on Robin’s advice to tie back his freshly washed curls into a low bun, a few loose tendrils framing his face.
“These are for you.” Eddie says.
He extends the flowers to you, watching your face light up in delight as you accept them.
“They’re lovely, thank you. I’ll go put them in water and grab my coat, then we can go.”
Eddie steps inside and closes the door behind him as you make your way to the kitchen. You dig around in cupboards until you locate a tall glass vase, filling it halfway and dropping the stems in.
Eddie smiles to himself, watching as you carefully arrange the flowers, stroking the silky soft petals and nudging them into place.
“So handsome, where are you taking me?” You smile.
You return to his side, reaching for your coat but Eddie beats you to it, holding it open for you to slip you arms in.
“It’s a surprise.” He murmurs in your ear, dipping his head to press a quick kiss to your neck. Your perfume lingers there, it smells like berries and amber, and it makes him dizzy.
“I love surprises.” You hum.
Your head falls back against his shoulder, encouraging his lips to linger for a moment longer.
Eddie’s arms wind tight around your waist, his mouth moving up the line of your neck to leave a wet kiss below your ear. You sigh, all breathy and sweet, and the sound has his blood rushing south. He needed to get out of here, before his body took over for his brain. You’d never make it to dinner if he kept kissing you.
“C’mon.” He says softly, opening the door with one hand, the other taking hold of yours.

The lack of clutter in Eddie’s van doesn’t go unnoticed by you, but you don’t comment on it. A new air freshener dangles from the rear view mirror, artificial pine scent attempting to conceal the smoke that lingers in the upholstery.
Eddie hums along to the crackling radio for the duration of the journey, one hand on the wheel, the other resting on your thigh, thumb tapping a gentle drum beat on the material stretched tight over your skin.
The van rolls through the town slowly, down roads illuminated by amber streetlights.
You come to a stop outside of a restaurant, flicking candles glowing on the tables, waiters in pressed white shirts pouring wine for the customers within. The green and white canopy over the front of the building is decorated with tiny icicles, the painted sign reading Enzo’s glittering with frost.
Eddie kills the engine and jumps out, rushing around to your door. He offers you his hand as you step down, keeping hold of you so your thin heels don’t slip on the ice.
Warm air greets you when the door to restaurant opens. It smells like herbs and garlic, the tang of tomatoes, and it makes your mouth water.
The host is stood behind a small table in the entranceway, flicking through a book of reservations. He looks up at the sound of the door closing, eyes widening when he sees you both.
“Hi. We’ve got a reservation. It’s under Eddie.” The boy at your side says.
The host arches one brow and says nothing, his eyes falling to scan the pages again. After a few seconds he closes the book with a sharp snap.
“I’m sorry, but we don’t have a booking under that name.” He says. His tone would suggest he’s anything but sorry.
Eddie falters.
“A-are you sure? I called a couple of days ago. It’s a table for two, booked for seven o’clock.”
“I’m sure.” The man says coldly.
It doesn’t take long for you to catch up, anger prickling hot in your chest as the situation becomes all too clear.
“Well it looks like you’ve got a lot of empty tables. I’m sure you can squeeze us in.” You say curtly.
“Those are all booked.”
“Really? All of them?”
“Yes.”
The man’s eyes scan Eddie from head to toe, distain worn plainly on his face.
“There’s a diner across the street. You could try there.” He smirks.
You glance across at Eddie. He seems to be shrinking in on himself, shoulders hunched, cheeks glowing pink and eyes glassy.
You scoff, squeezing Eddie’s hand tighter.
“C’mon Ed. Did you see the state of that risotto?” You sneer, nodding your head to a nearby table.
“It looks like overcooked mush. We can find somewhere better.”
The host bristles at the insult, but you pay him no mind, pulling Eddie onto the cold street.
“What an asshole!” You exclaim, stomping back to the van. Eddie trails behind you.
“I’m sorry.” He says quietly once you’re both seated.
“Don’t be Eddie. It’s not your fault.”
“It is. I should’ve known they wouldn’t want someone like me in there.” He mutters. You watch as he blinks rapidly, fighting back tears.
“It’s fine. It looks fucking pretentious in there anyway, we can find somewhere better. Hey! Let’s go to Tony’s! I would kill for one of his cheeseburgers.” You smile.
“I can’t get you a cheeseburger on our first date. I wanted to take you somewhere nice.” Eddie grumbles.
“Tony’s is nice. And I don’t care where we go, so long as I’m with you this’ll be the perfect first date.” You say genuinely.
You lean over the centre console, cupping Eddie’s face to turn him to you so you can kiss him. It takes a moment for him to respond, but eventually your lips work their magic, and his bad mood dissolves. He kisses you back, sweet and soft, one hand reaching up to curl in your hair.
“Come on Ed. I’ll buy you the biggest chocolate shake you’ve ever had in your life.” You grin.
“I’m paying. But I’m definitely having a chocolate shake.” He laughs.

You’re both a little overdressed for Tony’s so you opt to take your food to go, the greasy paper bag warming your lap as Eddie drives. You think for a moment that he might take you home, but instead his vans turns down an unfamiliar road, heading to the outskirts of town.
Luckily it only takes a few short minutes to reach your destination, the food balanced on your thighs still warm when the vehicle slows.
The trees lining the gravel path you’ve taken clear, revealing a large expanse of water, spanning so far the trees on the opposite side look like twigs sprouting from the ground. The lake is still save for the occasional ripple, you assume from fish moving just beneath the surface.
The only light comes from the glowing moon, her twin reflected on the water, two pale orbs that illuminate the dark space.
Eddie knocks the van into reverse, turning until you’re facing back the way you came. The rumbling of the van ceases when he pulls his keys from the ignition.
“I’ve got some blankets and cushions in the back. I thought we could eat back there.” He says.
The carpet in the back of the van is rough under your palms when you pull yourself in, but Eddie puts a cushion in place so you don’t pluck your tights on the scratchy fabric.
Once you’re both seated, facing the water with your legs dangling over the edge of the van, he wraps a soft black fleece around your shoulders. He has to shuffle in close, his body pressed to yours to get the blanket to stretch over himself too.
You sit in a comfortable silence, staring out across the water as you chew on greasy burgers and slurp thick shakes.
“This is the best.” You declare through a mouthful.
“Best cheeseburger I’ve ever had!”
“I wish you could’ve tried Benny’s burgers. They put Tony to shame.” Eddie replies.
“Is Benny’s closed now?”
“Yeah. It uh.. closed down when he p-passed away.” Eddie says quietly.
“The earthquake?” You ask.
“No. No he died a couple of years before that. S’a shame. He was a nice guy, and his food was awesome.”
Eddie mimics a chefs kiss.
You smile, sucking on the plastic straw in your milkshake.
You turn your attention back to the water. Patches of ice have formed in the shallows at the edges, but the bitter cold hasn’t done enough to freeze the depths of the lake.
“Does it ever freeze over completely? It’d be cool to skate out here.” You comment, digging through the paper bag for the last of your fries.
“You can ice skate?” Eddie asks.
You nod your head and suck the salt from your fingers.
“Yeah. My mom used to take me and Baby to this little rink not far from home when we were kids.”
“Lover’s Lake never freezes over completely. But there’s a smaller one across town, people usually skate there.” Eddie says.
“We should go before it thaws.” You suggest excitedly.
“I don’t think I’m made for skating sweetheart.” Eddie laughs.
“I’d break my neck.”
“I’d hold your hand, keep you steady.” You smile.
Even with the light of the moon it’s too dark for you to see Eddie’s cheeks turn pink, but you know that the blush is there. He’s so easy to fluster. You can’t resist teasing him a little more.
“So why’s this place called Lover’s Lake?” You ask, despite already having a pretty good idea.
“If you see it from above it’s heart shaped. Vaguely, anyway. And uh - when it’s warmer it’s a pretty popular place for people to.. y’know…” Eddie’s voice trails off. He avoids your eyes, busying himself with taking a noisy sip of his drink.
“Oh. Is that why you brought me here Eddie? You gonna take me in the back of the van?” You grin.
He chokes on his shake, spluttering and hiding his mouth behind his hands as chocolate milk dribbles down his chin.
“W-what?! No. I swear that wasn’t-“
“Eddie! I’m only joking.” You giggle, digging your elbow into his ribs.
“Oh. Okay.”
“It’s far too cold for that. You’ll just have to bring me back in the summer.” You smirk.
When he chokes again his coughing and your laughter ring out across the vast space.

With a full belly, your wrappers balled up and tossed somewhere over your shoulder, you pull the blanket tighter around yourself to fight off the chill. You’ve lost the heat that Eddie radiates, he’d got so animated telling you his next campaign plans that he’d jumped down from the van, acting out the story on the gravel that lines the shore.
You watch eagerly as he paces back and forth, hands gesticulating wildly, occasionally pausing to pull a slim notebook from his back pocket, scribbling down further inspiration that you give him with your comments.
It’s a side of Eddie that you adore seeing.
It only comes out when you’re alone, or with his closest friends, away from the prying eyes of a town that casts so much unwarranted judgement on him. His passion is infectious, the way he gets so excited when he talks about the things he loves, playful and a little goofy. It’s one of the things you love most about him, and you feel privileged to get to see him like this.
“Okay - so they’ve made it out of the castle, escaping through the debris filled streets of the war-torn kingdom-“
“Are they actually gonna make it that far Ed? It sounds impossible.” You interrupt.
Eddie grins wickedly, his dark eyes shining.
“Not impossible, but it’ll be hard. Really fucking hard. And when they make it out they stumble straight into an enchanted forest. The trees keep shifting behind them, swallowing the path they’ve taken so they can’t go back. They’re just stumbling around blind, no idea where to go next.”
“So how do they get out?”
“In the heart of the forest they meet a sorcerer. And if they’re lucky they just might be able to persuade her to help them. She’s a total badass, I’ve been working on her character for weeks.”
You sit up, intrigued.
“She’s crazy powerful, she’s the one who enchanted the forest to keep herself hidden from the brutes in the nearby kingdom, so she’s pretty impressed that our heroes have made it this far. They won’t know if they can trust her at first, but she’s good. She’s got a kind heart, so if they play it right, she’ll heal them and help them on their way.”
“She sounds like a badass.” You agree with a smile.
“She is! And she’s beautiful too, I’ve done a few sketches but obviously I’ll get her all drawn up fully before the campaign.”
“I’m getting a little jealous over here Eddie. I’m not sure I can compete with your fantasy sorcerer girl.” You laugh.
Eddie grins, opening his arms to you.
“Even if you can’t do magic, you’re still my favourite girl.”
With your heart thumping harder in your chest you throw off the blanket, jumping down from the van and running into Eddie’s embrace. He laughs as he stumbles backwards, strong hands finding home on the small of your back.
“You’re my favourite.” You whisper, nuzzling your face into the crook of Eddie’s neck.
A pleased hum vibrates from the back of his throat. He presses a kiss to the top of your head.
“I’m still your favourite even though our first date has been such a disaster?” He asks.
“It’s not been a disaster, it’s been perfect.”
“It hasn’t exactly gone to plan Honey.”
“I don’t mind.” You say truthfully.
“I’m having fun. I don’t need fancy dinners and stuff, I just want to spend time with you.”
Eddie smiles down at you, his thumb tracing along your cheekbone in a movement so tender it makes you feel like you could cry. He looks at you like you’re brighter than the moon, like you hung every star in the sky.
It’s so quiet, the sounds of the town unable to reach you in your peaceful solitude. If your life were a movie, this would be the part where a sweet song begins to play, the soundtrack building to a crescendo for the moment that he kisses you. You smile at the thought.
Slowly, you start to sway in Eddie’s arms, imagining the tinkling notes of piano chords, the hum of guitar strings being plucked.
Eddie looks at you with a confused expression, laughing when you take his hand and raise it, spinning under his arm.
“What are you doing?” He asks.
“Dancing with you, duh.”
“But there’s no music playing.”
“So sing me something rockstar.” You tease.
“Like what?”
“Anything. But maybe no Slayer.”
Eddie chuckles.
His mind wanders back to the collection of old records in your living room, which songs he’s heard you singing in the shower, or humming sleepily as you pour coffee in the mornings.
He holds your hands tight, pulling you to him until your chests meet.
“I got sunshiiiiine, on a cloudy day.”
He knows he’s made the right choice when your face lights up.
“When it’s cold outside, I’ve got the month of May.” Eddie croons. The smooth timbre of his voice washes over you like sunlight, your cheeks warming when his eyes meet yours.
“I guess you’d say, what can make me feel this way?”
Eddie’s arms wrap around your waist as he moves in a clumsy waltz with you across the gravel.
“My girl, my girl, my girl.”
His voice drops to a whisper as his lips ghost over yours.
“Talkin’ bout my girl. My girl.”
The minuscule distance between you is closed. Your mouth tastes like vanilla, Eddie’s like chocolate, tongues sweet and sticky when they meet and curl together in their own dance.
The cold air has your skin breaking out in goosebumps, but the heat between your legs ignites and warms you, sensitive skin pulsing with need. The kiss becomes more urgent, hands wandering and grabbing, squeezing whatever flesh they can find.
You tug at Eddie’s hips, pressing the hardening length in his jeans against your body. At this point you’d be more than happy for him to lay you down on the scratchy carpet in the back of his van, rug burn and potential hypothermia be damned.
“Can I take you home sweet girl?” Eddie whispers, responding to your thoughts as though you’d voiced them out loud. His voice is gravelly, dripping with want. When you pull back to nod at him you find his eyes darker than you’ve ever seen them, pupils blown and swallowing the rich umber of his irises.

On the ride home your body trembles in your seat. The warm air blowing from the vents has quickly chased away the chill, you’re not shaking from the cold.
It’s the anticipation coursing through your veins that has your body vibrating. It hasn’t been said in words, it doesn’t need to be, you just know.
Tonight when you get home you’ll finally have Eddie in the way that you need him.
Eddie clearly shares in your excitement. He’s careful as ever, but his foot presses a little harder on the gas as you cruise through the empty streets of Hawkins, speeding up as he approaches lights, not giving them the opportunity to turn red and deny you for a second longer than necessary.
It still feels like it takes an eternity to make it back to the park.
You finally turn into Forest Hills, driving past the darkened homes of your friends and neighbours. Yours and Eddie’s trailers coming into view has you sighing with relief.
Eddie frowns when he spots an unfamiliar vehicle occupying the space between your homes. He shrugs it off - it must just be a visitor for one of the neighbours, simply choosing an inconvenient place to park.
He’s too busy focusing on manoeuvring the van into the small gap on the other side of his trailer to notice your body stiffen, or hear the way your breath hitches.
As he turns his keys in the ignition, the door of the unknown car swings open.
“Oh my god.” You whisper.
Eddie’s head turns to you, finding you watching in horror as the driver steps out. He follows your gaze.
The man is tall and broad, and for a split second in the dark Eddie thinks that the athletic frame belongs to Steve, his friend finally upgrading his car after years of teasing.
But then the man turns, stepping out of the shadows into the pale moonlight.
His dark hair is slicked back, not a single strand out of place, shining with gel and defined in smooth lines by a comb. His pants and shirt look freshly pressed and perfectly tailored, a world away from Eddie’s borrowed trousers and years old shirt.
The stranger waits by the steps to your porch, one hand in his pocket, the other waving slowly in the direction of the van, a flash of gold on his wrist from the chunky strap of his watch.
“Who the hell is that?” Eddie thinks out loud.
His stomach begins to knot, palms growing so clammy his keys almost slip from his fingers. He didn’t recognise the man’s face, hadn’t seen him around Hawkins, but Eddie knew a stranger turning up at his home could only ever mean trouble. Maybe this guy was some relative of Chrissy or Jason. The thought has acid rising in Eddie’s throat.
“Eddie. I’m so sorry.”
Your voice is only just loud enough to cut through the pounding of Eddie’s heartbeat in his ears. He’s confused by your apology, and the wobble in your voice like you’re about to cry. But before he can ask you what you’re sorry for, you’re climbing out of the van, hands shaking as you push on the door.
Eddie scrambles to follow you. He slams the van door closed behind him, pushing through his fear and fighting his instincts to run as he takes quick steps to catch up to you.
As you move closer to the stranger, his smile widens, stretching into a grin that doesn’t reach his eyes. His pearly, even teeth glint in the moonlight.
A predator baring it’s fangs to the prey that wanders unwittingly into its trap.
“There’s my girl.” The stranger calls, his eyes raking over your trembling figure.
Eddie’s brows marry in a deep frown.
Who the hell is this guy? And why is he calling you his girl? Eddie thinks to himself.
You were Eddie’s girl.
He watches you just a step ahead of him, still walking closer to the stranger.
He opens his mouth, wants to tell you to stop. He’s got an awful feeling about all this; the man must be confused, or maybe drunk, this had to be some kind of mistake.
But it’s hard for Eddie to believe that this could be a simple mix up, a case of mistaken identity. There’s no room for doubt; not when you’re close enough for the man to touch you, curling one hand around your waist, the other gripping the back of your neck.
Then he kisses you.

How does the Mimic know so much about Cassie?!?! Theory Speculation
Something I've been wondering on the course of my playthrough was how the Mimic knew a lot about Cassie.
Maybe not her personally...
But here's the thing...
The Mimic is shown to have communication through HELPI. The message he sent to Cassie was Gregory and when Cassie arrives she says:
"Gregory, are you there? I got your message!"
So this means that the Mimic sent Cassie a message OUTSIDE of the confines of the Pizzaplex.
(Unless you get into the theory that it was real Gregory who sent the outside message in the first place and then from then on out since she got there she was being manipulated by the Mimic through the Roxy-Talky but...........We don't have time to unpack all that... and it does line up with what we know about Patient 46 and GGY..... bbuuuuuuuuttt One theory at a time... lol )
Let's say for the sake of the argument that the Mimic was the one who sent the Outside Message for Cassie for help.
Because... We know what Gregory's message is.
We heard it in the trailer:
youtube
Gregory's message in Text:
"Cassie I hope you get this message. I'm trapped. Here at the pizzaplex or what's left of it. I don't have time to go into how I got here. But you have to help me out! Save me Cassie please! It's so dark down here!
Don't give up on me yet."
(granted the "don't give up on me yet" is more trailer bait line as Steel Wool talking directly to the consumers then what I think was actually in Gregory's message... but I do think the first part is definitely the message Cassie gets.)
This is the message that the Mimic left Cassie. I would say... on her cellphone... But... we know Cassie doesn't have a cellphone at her age.
We can safely assume so because she would have tried to use her cell phone a LONG time ago to try and reach Gregory.
I think that Grimmic left this message on Cassie's home phone. And we know her Dad is out of the picture right now. Steel Wool makes it REALLY intentionally vague if her Dad is alive or dead considering he was a human Staff at the Pizzaplex. She always uses past tense or ambiguous tense when talking about her dad, but it's always unclear if she's speaking in past Tense about Bonnie or her Dad.
But.. We do know that her Dad is not in the picture AS OF THIS MOMENT...
Because in Roxy's Salon, when you use the AR mask near a Fazwrench Door, (remember her Dad has a Fazwrench apparently) you can see this note:
Tumblr media
The reason I say this note is written by Cassie's Dad, is that in Roxy's Salon we see so much of exposition about Cassie's past throughout Cassie's favorite areas. And throughout the game it is severely hinted at that the AR mask does display things based on what the wearer wants to see. or based on memories the wearer has.
aka: Monty soda machines turning into Roxy machines... Sun and Moon's Room being tidy in AR cause Cassie was a daycare kid and remembers Sun and Moon being kind and good daycare attendants. Roxy being the only animatronic that appears as Cassie remembers her fully cause she was her favorite. The mask functions as literal nostalgia rose-tinted glasses at times.
There's also the Brazil/Hallucination ending... where Cassie just sees what she wants to.
Sometimes AR does weird stuff for the sake of weird stuff, like floating objects everywhere and enlarged objects, but because Roxy Salon was so relevant to plot details, and explaining how Gregory and Cassie were friends and how she was devastated when he went missing.... Yeah. I'm saying this note was from her Dad.
So he's not in the picture..... right now of this moment.
So Cassie probably heard this message on her home phone when her parent.... parents?? Parent. Her Dad wasn't home, so she went to investigate the Pizzaplex herself.
Now... How did the Mimic get Cassie's number? how did he send a message to the outside world? We already know that he's connected to HELPI. So I'm not surprised that he can send messages from way below the foundation in concrete...
But.... How did he know how to Mimic Gregory effectively.... How did he know to prey upon Cassie's loneliness? How did he know that she would do everything to help him and she would do it if it was Gregory?
Now... I don't think he knew all this... But there are often times where the Mimic preys upon Cassie's loneliness in a very effective way.
And if you look at the mission objective hud... It keeps changing to things like this:
"Don't you want to save Gregory? Try harder!"
"I'm lonely."
He also says things like: "I'm so scared and alone. It's dark down here. Save me Cassie please"
When they meet for the first time, he even says: "You saved me!"
He preys perfectly upon her loneliness and manipulates her from the very start of the game from the moment he speaks till the moment you get HEPI and the mission objective hud starts saying crazy stuff.
Cassie is a very lonely kid. And I wouldn't be surprised if Gregory is her only friend and she feels she owes him for being there for her when no one else was. Roxanne Wolf and Gregory are all she has. Her Dad isn't even there for her. Either left to "get milk" or was killed by Vanny.... but... in her mind her Dad might have "Went missing" as well... All we know is that her Dad is not in the picture currently and Roxy and Gregory are all she's got.
.....How would the Mimic know this? How does he know to prey upon Cassie's loneliness insecurity so expertly?
....How does the Mimic know how to MIMIC GREGORY???
Well....
We know that Gregory was down here. Cause we do find a backpack with his name on it, right outside the door where Mimic is sealed. Which is probably where the Mimic got the Fazbear Walky Talky from in the first place....
But that's not enough evidence.
We just know that Gregory was down here at some point to probably seal the Mimic with Concrete.... Maybe with Vanessa, but that part is unclear.
But... I think Gregory knew the Mimic before this.
With the Mimic being canon, getting a better grasp on Cassie's character and who she is as a character...
I can say definitively My speculations about her being patient 46, and connected to Charlie in some way......... Since Charlie from the Silver Eyes tends to have weird connections and parallels to patient 46....
But my idea that Cassie would be connected to 46 or Charlie in anyway..... Are completely wrong.
But do you know who seems to be connected to Patient 46 and Charlie More now?
Gregory....
And I don't think Gregory being homeless was a fabrication. He just wasn't living in a cardboard box.
He was living in the Pizzaplex....
And you remember.... that one room... In Security Breach... that everyone theorized about but we had no definitive answers?
Tumblr media
Yeah.
The post-it note room.
This room is written with a lot of notes.... some in binary... some in English. Some in drawings.
But... people pieced together, that this room seems to consist of a Robot coming into consciousness and communicating with a second party.... And I think that it's the Mimic.
Because.... when you EXIT this post-it note room.... You can find a trail of post-it notes... Leading to a workbench... with...
A TRANSISTER RADIO THAT CAN BROADCAST OUT FREQUENCIES AND ENDO SCHEMATICS
Tumblr media
We now know that these are definitively about the Mimic And the Mimic Probably stayed in the Post-it note room for some time.
The post it note room leads a trail that takes us directly to these Schematics...
So... The Mimic was in that room for a long while.... Talking to someone.....
Who do I think they were talking to?
Gregory.
We already know that Gregory is homeless, and we find many of his hideouts scattered throughout the Pizzaplex.... and while we don't know if Gregory has any direct connections to the Afton Family other than being a parallel... This is the only thing that fits given the information we know right now.
And we do know that the Mimic is a Learning Adaptive AI... And it might not have killed Gregory at first cause he was reminded of the boy it used to grow up with.
I don't believe Gregory taught the Mimic things maliciously or manipulatively... I really think Gregory found a robot that crawled into this room he was hiding in that copied him...
And if we know Gregory... this isn't even book text... This is in-game Text.... Gregory sees animatronics as cool robots and toys/tools to mess around with. (I'm saying... climbing into a unconscious animatronics stomach hatch is not the first thing I would do when avoiding mall security......) Like it's part of the reason Gregory's first thought was upgrading Freddy to make his night easier.
Gregory views the animatronics as Robots and tools, while Cassie tends to view them more as people/characters.
So once Gregory comes across this creepy endo that copies him and has his own sign language, they write back and forth and he talks to it. He talks about his friends like Cassie probably, and rambles about stuff... Cause Gregory is excited this thing can learn, and he wants to talk to it and teach it.
Are there holes in this theory?
Sure.
Like Gregory's reaction to the Endos in the base game doesn't line up if he's seen the mimic endo before. Nor his reaction to Burntrap in the Afton Ending. "He? What is that thing???"
There's way too much Afton Family and Charlie/Puppet symbolism in the post-it note room to say definitively that this was the case....
But... The post-it note room leading to a trail of Papers where the Mimic Schematics are....
I really do think the Post-it note room is where the Mimic learned a lot of things... And if Gregory was in there teaching him stuff and talking to it, he Was probably learning about Cassie too.
Anyway, that's what I think and wanted to throw it out to the void before Matpat starts swerving all over the DLC.
