✨Grape Agate✨ ‘Botryoidal Purple Chalcedony’ is fairly new to the crystal world being discovered in Indonesia 2017. The name being given to its bubble like formations that resemble, you guessed it, grapes!🍇 Chalcedony is not scientifically its own mineral species, but rather a form of Quartz in microcrystalline form. Technically, a form of silica, that is composed of very fine intergrowths of quartz!🌿 A lovely specimen in itself, not to mention I see an octopus in this formation👀🌱 shop here 🌼
Grape agate and spirit quartz! I got both Kumeu market and they were $5 and $8 respectively. They are amazingly sparkly and I adore them. I've been after a specimen of both for a while and it is so nice to be able to admire them in person :)
man I wish I could get more actual information on specific minerals not in relation to crystal healing.
like I have no issue with people who use them for that purpose most of the time. But man it’s so hard to find actual information on the internet and it’s not like I really have the resources otherwise. I can’t look up selenite without getting blasted with satinspar. I can’t find out what causes the colouration in botryoidal amethyst (or grape agate if you use that name for it). My local natural history museum has stopped selling quality gemstones unless they’re in metaphysical kits because those sell better. The damn Moldavite frenzy. No reliable sources in whatever pink amethyst is.
another thing is that stores, even metaphysical stores (because let’s be real that’s the best place you can get good specimens in places not known for its geology and also they’re still just really fun and welcoming in my experiences) have completely different prices for pieces of the same quality. It’s really weird. Some of my malachites both recent and in the past have been from 3-5 or 10-20. That’s a really big price jump. One store I went to had botryoidal amethyst for 3 bucks (of course I bought it) and another store had the same quality of specimen in a smaller size for literally $100. At that same store they almost under charged me on a piece of obsidian in accordance with their own already low prices.
Just received my obsidian crystal ball in the mail today along with a sparkly grape agate specimen. The crystal ball is now the largest sphere I own! It’s much larger than I expected and so reflective! I’m excited to set it up with some Halloween decorations and get my witch on! I’m looking forward to diving back into magic and combining sobriety and recovery.
