In my weakness God is made strong. What do you do when you don’t feel qualified?

The reality of my atmosphere just weighed on me like two ton of bricks. Everyone around me has support, family, money, status, and significant others. Me I struggle with the family and friends that are still around. All of them struggling to keep their lives together enough to get through the day. I realize I have started to keep up with the Jones’ and it’s because of everyone I see around me. I don’t feel qualified. I don’t know why I’m where I’m at. I’m not like them. I don’t grow up like them. I’m not educated like them. I have traveled like them. I haven’t done the activities or met the same people as them. I’m different! It’s not that I want to keep up with them but it’s being around them not wanting to be insignificant. To have something to “small talk about” when in reality I hate small talk. I’m not keeping up with the Jones’ because I fully recognize that I’m not capable of that. Knowing how much bonus money these people get is equivalent to at least 3 of my monthly paychecks confirms that I’m not keeping up with any Jones family relative. Man! What am I doing here? I’m seriously the off ball out. I don’t realize this before. For the past almost 8 years I’ve been up here I haven’t felt these separated and different. Why now? And I don’t want to make moves just to prove something or seem like more. But I’m genuinely struggling with what I want, what I need, and what is a byproduct of my environment. This is tough. Do I trust God to keep providing, protecting, guiding, and loving me? And how do I do that when the world around me is screaming privileged. How do you be kind to, love on, and be understanding and compassionate with privilege when you don’t grow up with that. None of them can relate to the things I’ve been through. And I still struggle to this day. It’s not like I’m winning and can reflect on the struggle as a means to stay humble. I’m still going through it. All for the glory of God. I have to remember that my first priority has to be setting an example of who Christ is and what He has done in my life. My words matter and they are heard. Even if only God hears them that is enough. I’m not less than just because I don’t have privileges others have or have had. I’m not less than just because I can’t keep up with the Jones’. I’m not less than just because I don’t have an MBA degree. I’m not less than just because I can’t put my $10,000 bonus in my 401k. I’m not less than just because I rent an apartment in an older complex. I’m not less than just because I can’t afford to go out to eat for lunch everyday. I’m not less than just because I haven’t yet been out of the country. I’m not less than just because I don’t have travel points and credit cards. I’m not less than just because I’m not a member of that group or this group. I’m not less than just because I’m not on their team. And I’m not less than just because I’m different. I’m still loved because my Abba says so. He loves me because He knit me in my mother’s womb. I’m loved because I am His daughter. I’m loved because I believe in Jesus. I’m loved because I believe He died for me. I’m loved because I am forgiven. I’m loved because the Lord sees me. I’m loved because I am me. I am loved because of my laugh. I am loved because I have faith. I am loved because of my forehead. I am loved because of my second toe. I am loved because God chooses to love me. I am loved just because…. And for that I am thankful. Let the blessed of the Lord say so. I am blessed. Not because of what I posses, do, or pretend to be. I am loved because of who possess me. To know God is a great treasure. May I know God and keep getting to know Him more. Above my circumstances and environment. That is my purpose.

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday after Halloween. Because it’s a day for gratitude. I saw a quote that goes something like “what if we woke up today with the things we showed gratitude for yesterday’.... That quote stuck with me.
