I had this idea about a year ago for a Doctor who fic during s4--Ten and Donna are on present-day Earth for a bit, and suddenly on their way to a location that Ten has refused to specify, he hands Donna a bouquet of yellow roses and asks her to keep them safe for him for a bit. She's completely mystified, but before she can ask why, they are suddenly attacked/assailed by some sort of alien threat or monster-of-the-week. The roses miraculously stay in excellent condition, and when they resume their trip Donna demands to know what the heck about these roses is so important (she went through a LOT to keep those safe), but Ten is weirdly quiet about it until they arrive at their destination--a graveyard. She follows Ten as he winds his way through the headstones and cremation memorials until he finally comes to the name Tyler--and wordlessly takes the roses from her and lays them by their names.

#the thing is because they didn't actually have bodies to memorialize I don't know if they would actually use gravestones or something more #akin to a cremation memorial (as cremation is more common in the uk due to expenses/lack of space) #or maybe there's a memorial for all the deaths that occurred during the cyberman/dalek invasion. that might make more sense #anyhoo would you like some pain here's some I inflicted on myself lol #also yellow roses symbolize regret hehe #tenrose

Why don’t people have more fun tombstones. It’s basically a symbol of who you were. I want my tombstone to be art. I want there to be color and abstract shapes. I want to see a story in mine. I want people to look at it and understand who I was rather than just reading a few words. Imagine a graveyard full of beautiful statues and sculpture and art that symbolizes the people resting there. I think it would be beautiful and much more meaningful than rows and rows of stone with words carved flatly on and dead flowers.

The former coven heads are the last to get their sigils removed. When they do, the whole Isles celebrates

Hunter is one of the first people to get his coven sigil removed though

The University of Wild Magic is always chaotic, but when Luz gets there, the chaos increases, and it’s not uncommon for students to hear about the headmaster and the human student exploding something or committing crimes together

Luz’s Titan form was caught by Daily Knee Views and a few other penstagram accounts that update automatically, so there’s very blurry footage. Amity loves it anyway

Hunter’s palisman carving shop is attached to his house, and it becomes one of the spots where the Hexsquad hangs out the most

After Luz is out of college, all the Hexsquad buys a big house together and they live there together

Hunter is often surrounded by a ton of random palismen, he’s like a Disney princess, his friends never stop teasing him about it

Raeda’s wedding is attended by like half the staff and students of the University of Wild Magic, because everyone loves headmaster Eda and wants to see her happy

Hunter carved Waffles a few years after Flapjack died. He sat in front of Flapjack’s gravestone and asked if it was ok if he carved a new palisman, and he knew that Flapjack would be ok with it. i made these based on my predictions (??) for the party in s5. i think they're all obviously going to focus on beating the shit out of vecna, but they're probably gonna have other things they focus on too as they always do throughout the seasons

mike : i think mike's focus is going to be keeping will safe. kind of like a parallel to s1 and 2 where his goal was to find will and then to keep him safe. with that though comes him confronting his feelings towards will and i'm a believer in him writing letters to will and not sending them so i think that'll come up

will : for will, while he's gonna be like mike and will have to deal with his feelings for mike and the aftermath of lying about the painting, but he's also going to be focused on vecna and his connection to him. which is why i think he's going to go missing for a bit 😃 (also let will shoot vecna in the face duffers i'm begging you)

el : i think el's is pretty self explanatory. her goal next season is going to be to kick vecna's ass and also to save max. with that i think she will have more of a journey in realizing (?) that she's not the monster and that none of this is her fault. also the picture in the upper right corner is supposed to be her and will and represent her family

max : i'm HOPING that max survives next season and wakes up, so i think that's gonna be rough but she's gonna make it (duffers i will find you if she doesn't). i also think her storyline is gonna intertwine with el's and lucas's <3

lucas : i think lucas is going to focus on helping get max back tbh. that boy was at max's bedside at the end of s4 and i have a feeling he's not gonna wanna be away from her and he's gonna team up with el to get her back and then max is gonna wake up and they're gonna go to the movies and they're gonna live happily ever after!!!!! i need my boy to be happy :((

dustin : ok the gravestone isn't for dustin, i just meant it to symbolize how he's going to be mourning eddie and how much it's going to fuck him up. maybe his grief is gonna make him a target for vecna, i've seen people make theories on that, but i don't think he's gonna die. he better not

sorry if that was a lot, i'm just worried they didn't make sense and also i hope i didn't make it seem like all there was to mike and lucas was their romantic relationships. i definitely don't think that's all they're gonna focus on and that that's all there is to their characters, this is just for the mood boards

This carver did some incredible work as seen on this old gravestone from 1785. The stylized soul effigy has bat-like wings, strange bug eyes and hair that’s sticking straight up. Above the soul effigy, swirling designs symbolize the entrance to eternity. Benjamin was a Lt in the Connecticut Militia.

Every week I watch the new Frieren episode, and every week I go a little insane over all the moments Frieren and Fern have in the OP and ED. (This is just the second opening and ending, I'm not even going to touch the first ones.)

Fern doing Frieren's hair

The outro is even better. Frieren starts off alone.

She's lying by a gravestone, at night.

Then we have the section with the sculpted figures. Frieren reaches for a blue flower- it hasn't bloomed yet, but any blue flower is going to bring to mind the Blue-Moon Weed, Himmel's favorite flower.

There's been a butterfly following Frieren around for a while. It lands on the flower.

Himmel has an association with butterflies, since there's one on the ring he gave Frieren, but Fern arguably has a stronger association with them. Fern's butterfly pin makes an appearance earlier in the outro, and the pin transforms into the butterfly that follows Frieren.

We also have this shot of Fern and many blue butterflies in the intro.

The butterfly and the blue flower transform into a girl with long hair and a long dress. The sculpted figures are almost completely white, so we don't see Fern's distinctive purple hair, but the figure resembles her regardless.

The line of the song that plays when the butterfly and the flower transform into Fern is: その涙だって大丈夫 きっと夜が明けるよ "It's okay to cry, the dawn will surely come." This is a line referencing past grief but also showing hope for the future, and it's so poignant that it occurs while a symbol representing Himmel (past) and a symbol potentially representing both Himmel and Fern transforms into Fern (present/future).

Finally, we get a beautiful shot that starts on a blue flower, now fully opened-

and pans up to Frieren lying down, like she was earlier, but this time on Fern's lap.

It's daytime now, instead of night, and if the image has retained its quality, you might see Frieren has the most unbelievably tender expression on her face.

What this tells me, is that Frieren absolutely loved Himmel, in her own asexual-aromantic elf way, and that she also loves Fern, in much the same way.

I've been noticing Himmel and Fern parallels all over the place and I barely get into any of them here. If I included every moment in the actual show where it's obvious how much Fern and Frieren care about each other I would be here all day.

a short zine illustrating a chapter of the Hechalot Rabbati, an ancient Jewish mystical text which describes—in gory detail—the dangers of listening to the angels singing around the merkavah (holy chariot). it features detailed pen & ink artwork drawing from both Jewish symbolic tradition (including panel borders inspired by antique Ashkenazi gravestone carvings) and a modern macabre visionary style.

incredible to look back at this one 5 years later! my first Jewish zine. folks' response to this really changed my whole creative practice & it helped me find my voice after almost a decade of artistic burnout.

1) Lewis Hamilton - Tiger Lily

Tiger lilies have a distinct popular orange color, but also come in pink, red, and white with various different patterns. They symbolize good fortune and confidence as well as health and pride.

2) George Russell - Fuchsia

The fuchsia symbolizes confidence, self-assurance, and liveliness. Further within the colors, purple fuchsias symbolize royalty and power with pink/red ones representing love and devotion.

3) Daniel Ricciardo - Daffodil

Like the color yellow, daffodils are used to portray feelings of joy and happiness, as well as good luck, new beginnings, and hope. However, when it's a single daffodil, it can be perceived as bad luck.

4) Yuki Tsunoda - Pentunia

Pentunias have two very different symbolisms. One, it can symbolize happiness, calmness, passion, and comfort. On the other hand, it can also represent anger and resentment.

5) Fernando Alonso - Iris

Despite their more common color of purple, there are shades of pink and white the iris can appear in. These flowers can bloom up to 4 times in their lifespan with each bloom being up to 2 weeks, then, they close and rebloom, soon to come back again.

6) Lance Stroll - Lavender

Lavender represents healing, tranquility, and silence. It has a unique strong, yet calming scent, accompanied by its flowers which vary shades of purple from dark to a blue hue. In friendships, lavender shows loyalty and commitment.

7) Pierre Gasly - Morning Glory

Morning glories are commonly etched into gravestones as a flower of mourning yet with the chance of a new day, a new beginning. They bloom every morning and close at night. They represent beauty of dawn, fresh starts, and hope.

8) Esteban Ocon - Cactus Flowers

Once a cacti blooms, the flower lasts a day but with plenty of different blossoms, they can bloom for months. Cactus flowers can represent endurance and resilience as well as warmth. Due to true cacti's conditions it withstands, they can also represent motherly love and devotion.
