Greaser spinel and her very shy s/o
I got a bit carried away with this one and had a lot of fun writing it. I hope you like reading it, too!
——-
The town was a rather small one. It was one of those places where everyone knew everyone or at least had an idea.
The high school was the same way. No one could avoid scrutiny, either from the teachers or from the other students. Sure, there were plenty who tried to go under the radar, avoided drama, stayed out of everyone’s way, but that would only work for so long.
You were one of those kids. You’d managed to go unnoticed in the school for almost two years now, but you knew it wouldn’t last much longer. You liked going unnoticed, liked that those judgmental eyes weren’t on you and dreaded the moment that would change.
——————————————–
You went into class with your head down, making a beeline for your desk in the far back corner where no one bothered you and the teacher overlooked you. You sat down, getting out your notebook and pencil and ready for another journey into the dullness of math. You sighed, resting your chin in your hand and idly scribbling in your notebook, waiting for class to start.
The other students trickled in, all chatter and happy greetings. You ignored them. It was easy when no one greeted you.
You only looked when a group of dark, leather-clad teenagers came in, loud as ever as they laughed at each other and made their way to their usual corner, not yours thankfully. You weren’t fond of the group. They were a known bunch of troublemakers, loud, full of themselves, people you didn’t want anything to do with.
You went back to your notebook, trying not to let the scowl slip onto your face. The bell was supposed to ring soon enough, you just needed to wait another minute or so.
You heard someone sit in the desk next to you and you froze. No one ever sat there, no one cared to. There were plenty of other empty seats, too. Whoever it was sat there on purpose.
You tried to ignore them.
“Hey, toots.”
You glanced up at that, tensing up. You knew the girl. Of course you did, everyone knew her. It was hard to miss her. You were sure her hair was black but she died it a dark magenta, tied back in two messy pigtails. She wore a black leather jacket, just like everyone else in that troublemaking group, underneath which she had a black t-shirt, one that was too short and showed off her stomach, deep blue jeans, and big black boots. She had dark black eyeliner on, too, making her eyes pop and her gaze intense.
It was Spinel, the biggest troublemaker in the school. And her intense, mesmerizing gaze was on you. You tried to fight the blush that you felt spreading over your cheeks.
She smirked at you, a devilish look in her eyes and for a moment you thought you were going to melt.
You almost sighed with relief when she finally looked away. The bell rang and you expected the Greaser to return to her friends but she didn’t. She stayed by your side throughout the class. Occasionally you would feel her gaze on you as you scribbled down some notes. She made it just so hard to focus on the lesson, all your attention focused on making sure didn’t fidget under her gaze.
The end of class bell was more of a blessing than usual that day. You were quick to pack your things up and leave, feeling her eyes on you till the moment you left the room. You sighed, relaxing ever so slightly.
Then you remembered you had four more classes with her. You didn’t know why she was suddenly paying so much attention to you, but it was safe to say she’d do the same in the other classes.
You were tempted to skip school.
———————————————
From then on, Spinel spent every class sitting next to you. And at first you were nervous, but over the next week you managed to come down. All she would do was say hi, nothing else. She never pushed you to talk to her, never bothered you, just sat next to you. After two weeks you realized you enjoyed her company. All the two of you ever did was sit next to each other, but that was enough.
Then things changed. One day at lunch you sat down at the end of one of the long tables, trying to take up as little room as possible, and got your lunch and homework out. You weren’t fond of the school food, so you always brought your own lunch, a sandwich, apple, and water. It was simple, but it was enough to get you through your day.
You took a bite out of your sandwich and got to work. The more you got done in school, the more time you had at home. Not that you ever had much to do at home.
But then you were distracted.
“Hey again, is this seat taken?”
The voice was familiar enough by now. When you looked up, sure enough, Spinel was there, giving you that devilish smirk of hers, the one that always brought a heat to your face. You couldn’t take your eyes away from hers.
“Ummm…” You cursed yourself for sounding so quiet and pitiful. “No, I guess not.”
And then Spinel was sitting in front of you, settling down with her tray of food. You tried to just focus on your homework, but you couldn’t, because only a few moments later a few of Spinel’s friends joined the two of you, just as loud as ever. You winced, retreating into yourself more.
“Hey, shut your traps! Y/N’s trying to do homework!”
The two immediately stopped talking, nodding in understanding and just eating their food. You gave the girl a small smile as thanks and she smiled back, softer than you expected from someone like her. You felt your face heating up again and ducked your head, attempting to resume your homework.
————————————
After a couple of days, you gave up on doing homework at lunch. It became a regular thing for Spinel and her crew to sit with you. It was only the two who shared lunch with her, thankfully. You didn’t know if you could handle all of them just yet, but these two were manageable. After Spinel’s warning on the first day, they stayed quiet while you were working and even when you gave up on that they never did shout too much.
The three of them were actually pretty nice, all things considered. They didn’t force you to join any of their conversations which was nice, and they treated you nice too. You felt comfortable around them.
After a while, everyone in the group would say hi to you whenever they saw you, whether it was in the halls, in class, or outside of school. You hated the attention it brought, didn’t like how everyone else stared at you, but you didn’t want to be rude. You’d always at least smile or wave back. If you really thought about it, you kind of liked it, the whole people saying hi to you thing and being friendly.
You still didn’t know why Spinel started sitting with you, but at least now you didn’t mind that she was around.
———————————————————
Spring was here in full blast now. The days were warming and the smell of flowers was carried on the breeze. It was one of your favorite seasons for sure and anyone who paid attention could tell.
It was on one especially nice day that you decided to wear one of your summer dresses, the pretty red one you liked with the small black polka dots and black ribbon around the waist. It didn’t have any sleaves, just some black ribbon tied behind your neck to keep it up. It was perfect for the warm weather and it made you feel kind of pretty. Usually, you’d keep your jacket on, keep your shoulders covered. Just cause you wanted to look nice didn’t mean you had to draw everyone’s eyes. Today you decided not to wear it. You couldn’t really tell yourself why, but you felt that maybe it wouldn’t be too bad if people were looking. Or maybe just one person in particular.
When Spinel and her crew got to that first class, you instantly felt the girl’s eyes on you. Her gaze made your arms itch. You tried not to stare back, eyes trained on your notebook. She took her usual spot by your side. For a moment the two of you stayed quiet. Spinel didn’t even say hi. For a moment you wondered if you had said something wrong.
“Wowza, Dolly. You look amazing.”
Oh geez, did you always have to blush when she talked to you? You felt like you were about to burst into flames.
You smiled up at her, getting lost in those beautiful eyes of her.
“Um… thanks.” You muttered, tucking a stray strand of hair behind your ear. Spinel smiled, too, one of her softer smiles that always made your heart skip a beat.
Throughout class you saw her glance back to her crew often like they were having a silent conversation. You tried not to spend too much time worrying about it, but the worry was there regardless. Something was going on, you knew it, but you couldn’t tell what.
Spinel walked you to class when she could, sticking by your side throughout the day. She was really sweet to you, helping with your books, opening doors for you, and showering you with kind words. She wanted to talk to you, just small conversations. How was your homework going? Got any plans for the weekend? Things like that. All that attention made you blush almost constantly. You could only offer short answers, but that didn’t seem to bother her in the slightest.
You had your last class without her and you actually found yourself missing her company. You couldn’t focus at all, too wrapped up in your own thoughts. Spinel centered thoughts. She was just so pretty. You loved those sparkling eyes, her devilish grin, her bright laugh, that soft smile. You couldn’t help but wonder what she would look like with her hair down, how it would feel to run your fingers through it.
Oh. Oh no. You loved the greaser, didn’t you?
————————————————–
Spinel was waiting for you when you left school. You didn’t even notice she was there until she spoke up, making you jump.
“Hey Doll~” Her voice was dark and sweet and it sent a shiver down your spine. In an instant, the girl stood in front of, her devilish smirk plastered on her face. “How was your class?”
She was just so close but for some reason you didn’t feel the need to move away.
“It was … okay.” You said, voice small and timid.
“My class sucked.” She sighed, that smirk spreading back over her face. “I couldn’t stop thinking about you.”
She took a step closer, her body so close you were almost touching. You felt the heat wash over your face once more.
“I can’t get ya out of my mind, not since I first saw ya. Your the prettiest dame in the whole school.”
You chuckled, looking away from her eyes and at the ground.
“Don’t be silly, I’m no prettier than any other girl…”
“Not to me.”
And then she was pulling you close, her arms wrapped around your waist and you were forced to look into her eyes, her gaze intense and boring into the center of your very being. You felt like you were about to melt.
“Ya know, the Spring Fling’s comin’ up. I couldn’t think of anyone better ta go with. What do ya say?”
For a moment you couldn’t speak. Your mouth suddenly felt too dry, your heart racing in your chest.
“Y-yes, I’d love to!” You finally stuttered out, unable to keep the smile off your face. She smiled back, face just so close to yours you could feel her hot breath on your lips.
She kissed you, soft and sweet. Her lips were soft and tasted like cherry. It only lasted a short moment before she was pulling away, intense gaze roaming over your face. Your head felt dizzy like you were floating on cloud nine and you wanted nothing more than for her to kiss you again.
But then she pulled herself away from you, that devilish grin making you shiver. You were cold without her body next to yours. She gave you a coy wink, backing up to her crew who were cheering. You suddenly realized how many eyes were on the two of you and shrunk into yourself.
You walked away, much faster than you probably should have, Spinel’s voice following you as you went.
“See you tomorrow, Doll~”
Even with all those eyes on you, you couldn’t help but smile.
