5. Do you respond to comments? I do my best. I made a decision back when I posted a lot of stuff and got more comments than I could handle that I would only reply to the comments on the last chapter of a multi-chapter fic. Other than that, I try my best to reply to everyone.

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? I wrote a Major Character Death fic (The Death You Carry). Can't get angstier than that.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? Most of my fics end happy, but now that I think of it they're mostly HFN in romance-genre speak. Happy For Now aka the fic ends with them as a couple, kissing or touching for example, the Ever After is implied but not explicit. Two fics which end with H/D living together, and thus more committed to each other, are Hush, darling and The Boy Who Died. These are also angstier than my other fics, which makes the happy ending sweeter imo.

8. Do you get hate on fics? Not hate per se. I've received demanding comments ("Can you write more? Another sex scene? And make it mpreg?") or comments like "I like your story but I can't read on because you have X topping". Not hate. There was a time, though, that I got several comments about how stupid/annoying/an arsehole Harry is, which reflect an attitude I used to see in fandom, where Draco is perfect and Harry is a bumbling fool and the minute he says something sharp to Draco he becomes an arsehole and should be screamed at. Needless to say, I hate this kind of interpretation. I deleted a couple of these comments, I just couldn't have them on my page. It was the reason I de-activated comments on all my fics for some time.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? The sexy kind, I hope LOL

Serious answer: I have written explicit sex scenes, although I tend to be more vague rather than write a play-by-play description of what is happening. I mean, there is some of that, but not as detailed as it can be. I don't know how to explain it better in English, sorry. Anyhow, I love sex scenes, I love reading them, I enjoy the challenge of writing them, and I think what I like best in what I read (and thus I try to emulate) is when a sex scene reveals the emotional state of these two people rather than just say whose dick does what.

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written? I haven't! A couple of years ago I got a few asks about wangxian and drarry meeting up and although it was fun to reply to the asks and imagine how it would take place, I don't think I'll ever write it.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? Someone screenshot dnab and posted it on instagram. The whole 40k fic. If there have been others, I don't know.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated? Yes, a few.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? I haven't and I'm not sure I could. I don't think my writing process would lead to successful collaborations. If I were to imagine it, the easiest for me would be that each writer has their own POV (I'd write Draco, the other person Harry, for instance) and we'd have a general idea but not a strict outline and we'd write it like a relay race: I'd post something, they'd write the next part, then me etc.

14. What’s your all time favorite ship? I tend to move on from fandoms, so it used to be pynch, then drarry, now wangxian. I don't have a lot of time for fandom these days so I'm not as obsessed with a ship as I used to be. I love all my babies equally.

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? I started a fic with a magical university of sorts, or rather 8th year but they'd be more like uni students than normal school students, and Draco was a Veela whose mate was Astoria. Not sure where it would all go, but well--it won't go anywhere now, because I have so many other WIPs that take precedent.

16. What are your writing strengths? I'm decent at dialogue and I've been told my fics have great atmosphere. Occasionally I write an unusual turn of phrase and people comment on that. My fics are fairly short, but I've been told that they have a lot more story than the reader expected because of the word count, and I think that's because I edit ruthlessly.

17. What are your writing weaknesses? Plotting is my main problem. I pants my stories and it takes me forever to figure out what happens next. I also lack confidence and doubt everything while writing, which isn't a writing weakness exactly, but it does affect my writing.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? It's cool. I like it.

19. First fandom you wrote for? The Raven Cycle. I was mad about pynch.

20. Favourite fic you’ve written? Currently 9 ½ Days but I have a very, very soft spot for The Boy Who Died.

heyyy long time no see.

i feel like being a bit more transparent about this project because... well people keep visiting this blog so

my real fans will remember this poll i made back in October and. WELL! remember how I said I was just 'planning'?

ive detailedly outlined up until chapter 10 because i found myself stuck and decided, "maybe if I start writing now, I'll get ideas and I wont be stuck anymore when I go back to outlining"

and so far my theory has been proven true because I keep making shit up *as I write* that I did not plan so I'm like. maybe I don't really need to plan up until the end just now... I'll just... figure things out as I go

that screenshot up there? that's chapter 2. chapter 1 is done and has gone through a very brief second draft which is literally just me spraying it with some grammarly corrections. some. because this is a robot and it's tailored towards emailing so its a bit stupid when it comes to creative writing.

i will probably get a beta for this. most likely. was browsing @/needabeta and found some mythos folks in there which is great news!! then the beta reader edits will be the third drafts. at least that's how I want to do this dance

when will it be posted? uhhhh. when it's finished. sorry. I've come to realize that posting stuff as I'm writing makes me really stressed bc of the pressure that naturally comes with it so I think I'll preserve my sanity if I decide to only start posting after it's fully done. plus some beta readers prefer not to work with WIPs, so there's that too.

now here's a whole bunch of treats! of all flavors. angst, achilles being a jerk, discreet fluff, casual stuff. and a cat.

this fic is actually very mundane. i read a fic like that and had an amazing time. makes the characters feel more like people, at least to me.

I can write about anywhere, but I do need music. If I don't have music, especially the songs that my inspiration and motivation comes from, I might lose my steam and get distracted by other stuff. Silence is my enemy.

💭 What inspires you and your writing?

Wow, umm.. A LOT. Other than the "of course" answer of tv shows, I get most of my fic + scene ideas/inspo from music. Lets say I have a scene idea and it's angsty, then I'm gonna listen to songs with lyrics and sound that fit the vibe i'm going for. While listening to the song(s) on repeat, I let my brain pictures do the rest of work, and if it creates something I like and know I can twist around be bit to fit my storyline as a whole, I choose that

but on the non-music flipside, me and my friend have tossed around ideas before just in texting and a lot of little things in Escapism came from those jokes/chats

📚 Is there a fanfic or fanfic writer you recommend?

i fully agree that calling the cops on queer people isn't a great thing to threaten, but also as a minor i get their overall point. i feel that there should be some separation between pride = kink and pride = safe space for all ages. there should be places where younger queer people can go and feel welcome. and it makes me feel v weird to see a bunch of adults yelling at a minor for being uncomfy with kink in public? even if there are historical reasons for its presence, ppl can still b uncomfy

so first off i want to say that i agree with you!!! initially when i saw the post i was like >:/ but then i thought abt it and was like "well,,, wait. dont fuckin call the cops on ppl at pride lol" and rbed it bc i agree w "DONT CALL THE POLICE ON SOMEONE AT PRIDE HOLY SHIT"

i would love if pride could be minor-friendly all the time and luckily it often is. i've gone back and forth on this issue of having kink in pride over the last few years and i'm still not fully settled in one direction or the other bc its a VERY complex issue!

there are historical reasons for sure (that to be totally honest i need to do more research on but ch'boys just trying to stay alive rn shdgfjkl), and there are other reasons for it. personally, i only really get uncomfortable with people wearing kink gear/displaying nudity bc i dont know what to expect from them bc thats not a social norm i encounter ever.

i think maybe where i stand with this issue for now is that it's not going away and it's a big part of pride's history and many activists who got our rights to be where they are now were sex- and kink-positive, often leather enthusiasts. i think that pride is a complex celebration that has sexuality as a big part of it so we shouldn't necessarily censor it entirely (but i absolutely don't want anyone doing any sexual acts at pride lmfao that shit is nasty and you would need EVERYONE'S consent to witness that shdsfjkl). but wearing leather gear and even pup-gear isn't really an issue for me? i know i'm an adult now, but even as a teen i was kind of like [shrug] it's part of sexuality and a big gay subculture and it's not going to stop anytime soon. i just look away if i need to.

i do think it can be uncomfortable for minors but no one is having full sex in public, they're just wearing some funky outfits. this also overlaps for me personally with the whole issue of nudity and the human body being shamed. i think general pride should be at most PG-13 and then anything past that needs to go into private places where minors can either choose not to go into or not be allowed into. but thats ultimately up to the organizers unfortunately!

i don't know. it's very complicated, but the reason why i reblogged that post specifically was because holy shit don't call the cops on anyone at pride, especially since these are LGBT ppl - a minority group, even if they're wearing harnesses or puppy hoods and leashes. sorry for the ramble, my brain is not working very well with words lately :/ i hope this kind of made sense!

HAHAHAHA THE 24 HOUR NOTIFICATION- i think i have around 1030 hours on sims? but i've had it since 2019 lmao (reading the screenshots, yes u are 100% a genuis, i take screenshots too but on anon you can't upload them so i just read them and retype what i wrote lmao) i think the university experience in the game is fun, but time consuming and it's all work imo. idk why i do it so often tho 😭😭😭

and agreed!! when you're making good money in the game you have to find other ways to make it interesting. my cousins who play it just continously do "motherlode" and i'm like.... then what do you do in your game?? it just sounds boring to me... my current sims household, i had a famous comedian sim, her name was dylan, aND SORRY IM LAUGHING SO HARD WHILE WRITING THIS BC ITS A GREAT EXAMPLE OF THE UNI THING UNLESS IM JUST DUMB, she went to college for communications when i wanted her to be a comedian and when she graduated i realized that degree did nothing for the career 🥲 so yeah, i think i'm just dumb. but she had a kid in college, guy didn't stick around and she was pretty broke HA but then she got married to this (great) guy named steve, made good bank, had 5 more kids (two sets of twins and one more lol) but then she passed. uhm... yeah that's still an open wound . lol i'm kidding, but when you get rich like that, you have to find a way to make the game interesting and i chose a million kids.

i used to be one of the people who‘d just do motherlode motherlode motherlode and just... what did i do? Why did i do that??? But not anymore lol. there's two main problems that i run into with most rhythm games and thats the quality of the songs and the quality of the gameplay. and while fnf is great, there's been a few specific issues i've had that are about to be fixed which is probably going to make it my favorite rhythm game and the best rhythm game imo when it's all done

for one, after a while i just don’t like the music even if it’s fun. like love live, LOVE the interface and gameplay, in terms of gameplay it’s probably my favorite rhythm game, but the songs are all so fuckin boring! they all sound the same! no offense to love live fans i know some of my friends and mutuals love the game but the music just bores me to death. but the fnf songs are so fucking good and honestly out of all the rhythm games ive ever played i actually listen to these songs the most OUTSIDE of playing cause i just legit like them so much as songs

AND by being able to chart your own songs and hopefully be able to easily play other people's songs (as in, i don’t have to mess with the game files to play my friend’s mod or song chart) you’ve got an endless supply. so even if i DO ever get tired of the fnf songs, i can always play more

miku project diva is EXCELLENT bc it has SO many songs, and they’re all really fucking good, PLUS on the switch it has customization options. BUT when you switch the characters out it doesn’t change their voices or anything, it just changes the model in the music video which sucks bc i follow the head canon that rin and len are siblings and i don’t wanna hear them sing love songs to each other. BUTTTT the fnf team said one of the features of the full game is that when you switch out a character, for ANY song it will change the voice!! (so like if you want pico on a senpai song it’ll be pico’s voice, same thing with switching out BF)

also, i LOVE the miku gameplay, i like that they've got about 6 different buttons/commands required but there's a bunch of different ways you can input it, AND it goes from pretty easy to pretty hard (although fnf is probably going to be adding an even harder difficulty).

the only other issue i have is that i'm not the biggest fan of the gameplay, mostly because arrow games mess me up. im so bad at DDR and half of the problem is that they're just arrows but they're all going in the same direction lmao. BUT they also said in the kickstart that they want MORE elements than just pressing the arrow keys. idk what those elements would be but hey !! more enrichment!! which means i'll probably enjoy the gameplay a lot more maybe. aaaand also i'm mostly over this issue bc ive gotten used to the whole arrow thing for the most part

also just a disclaimer i am definitely not some rhythm game guru or anything, there's a lot of big rhythm games out there that i HAVENT played (particularly osu but i don't like the gameplay mechanics LMAO) so. yknow. this is just my opinion idk how many people are gonna see this but yeah

Sonic R Review and Tips

It's rainy outside, and I have nothing better to do. Let's write a review!

There's hints sprinkled in here to help you too.

This is the first time I've ever written anything like this. I hope you'll enjoy it!

Sonic R was originally released for the Sega Saturn in 1997, and was ported to PC in 1998. It was ported once again in 2004, and that's the version I'll be using. I'm only using the ADX Music mod for this review, which enables music without a CD. I'll link to it at the end if you want to use it.

To start with, let's describe how the game looks. It looks about as good as you could expect a port of a Saturn game from 1997 to look.

The graphics are very polygonal and simple, but that's sort of charming. The PC version has a bunch of improvements, like a bigger draw distance, a day-night cycle and variable weather.

Above is a screenshot of the original Saturn version. I'd say the PC version looks better, but the Saturn version looks alright for what it is.

Let's move on to the real stuff — the gameplay.

In this game, the playable characters control like cars. This can be quite off-putting, but the key is to think of them as cars, with an accelerator and brakes. You can even get them to drift around corners! Of course, this is far from ideal. A lot of the track is built with typical platformer controls in mind, which can lead to really tight turns that might be difficult to negotiate with your car-hedgehog hybrid.

Unlike most car racing games, or even most platformers, you can bounce your characters of walls and keep your momentum. This can be used to your advantage when turning sharp corners like this.

Turning by itself is really slow. It feels like your character is standing on a display turntable. When you make a corner, though, you can drift like a car. It's not taught to you, and it takes practice, but it really helps.

The game features collectables, too! Each track has 5 Sonic tokens. If you collect all five and finish in the top 3, you'll be put into a 1v1 race with a rival. There are 4 characters that can be unlocked by beating them in a Rival Race on their own track. I'll let you unlock them and find out who they are.

There are also Chaos Emeralds scattered about the place. If you get all of them, you might unlock something secret... but I'll let you find out for yourself.

It will take several tries to get all of them, so don't sweat it if you don't on your first time.

This game also has a multiplayer mode. I haven't played it much, so I can't really say anything about. It looks fun, though.

This game has a superb soundtrack. Every song really slaps, and they provide an excellent accompaniment to the game itself. They're even great to listen to by themselves!

Trivia: The album cover features the first ever appearance of Modern Sonic, a whole year before Sonic Adventure was even announced.

I'm not sure what else to say about the soundtrack. It's just really good.

This is a really fine game. It can be pretty fun! I'd recommend it if you're interested in Sonic, or if you just have an afternoon to spare. It's available cheaply online, or you can find a free download of it since it's now considered abandonware. MyAbandonware has a download of it, along with a simple guide on how to update it in the comments.

I'd suggest downloading Sonic R Updater to go with it. It upgrades the 1998 port to the 2004 port, and it comes with a copy of Sonic R Mod Loader, which includes ADX Music as well as a bunch of other mods. Download it here:

I highly suggest getting Sonic R Improvement Mod to go with it. It tweaks the game and fixes certain bugs to make it more enjoyable. This includes improving the physics and fixing the controls!

I've seen a few anons on different blogs today saying "it's only when a site about Eleanor went up that people got mad" but no, that's not really true. I have always been uncomfortable with the site even when it was just about B. I have never voiced that to anyone, even in tags, because I.. can't be bothered. I just don't reblog the screenshots. But since the beginning I felt the site was a little, I don't know... tacky? That's not even the right word but, it seemed beneath us. Now doubly so.

I suspect you're not alone. The great thing about this fandom is that even amongst Larries there are so many opinions about everything. Hell, ask me something one day and I might give a totally different opinion the next depending on how well I’ve slept and how impatient I’m feeling and which way the wind is blowing. 

I’m always a little suspect of messages that say “everyone” or “we” used in a greater sense (to be clear  none of my anons today have said that!) because either you’re only following people you agree with or somehow only people who agree with each other and/or you’re unfairly extrapolating that to a bunch of strangers without any sense of nuance. Just because someone speaks up about disliking aspect X of thing Y doesn’t mean they hate all of Y. And if someone doesn’t comment on Y at all it doesn’t mean that they like it or dislike it, just that they don’t want to comment on it. (much like Jeff & FSM, ha!) 

There is plenty that crosses my dash that I don’t reblog because of a whole slew of reasons... and also lots of stuff that I don’t post about because I can’t be bothered either!!
