So after Azure dies we know Peng fled the battle, right?

I just thought of Peng holding onto Azure's cloak as they cried into it, knowing they have lost so much all because of they're cocky and selfish attitude.

They have already lost their sister, niece, nephew and now the one person they thought would never leave them in such a painful way.

"I'm sorry..."

They sobbed through they're tears, the guilt and sadness stabbing they're heart like a dagger.

I’m always somewhat torn when writing about Curtain’s attitude towards SQ’s art. In the show, he seems encouraging of his son’s hobby and it is in fact the only activity we seem them engage in together. Yet there is this part of me that believes that Curtain’s support reaches a certain point, as with the “affection” he shows SQ. I think Curtain is less so interested in what SQ is drawing/painting than he is in the fact that SQ is doing something. I find it very likely that SQ picked up drawing as a way to pass the time when his father was working or wanted to be alone. Curtain telling SQ to go sketch while he’s talking with Dr Garrison could have easily been replaced with reading, studying etc. I believe that it is more important to Curtain that SQ has a hobby that will keep him occupied and out of his way, which explains his evident disinterest when SQ first mentions that he’s going to the forest. 

I can also picture Curtain being very critical of SQ’s art, because he believes that it will encourage growth and development. So when SQ was younger he’d be super excited to show his art and talk about how he’d met a new bird named Meredith who’s a journalist and he tried his best to capture her colorful feathers. And Curtain sort of looks at the picture with disapproval and goes no, no, no you got the proportions all wrong look and SQ just visibly shrinks and never shows his art to his dad again. Yet Curtain continues to give critique because he thinks it’s the right thing to do, to encourage his son to do better (but he’s actually very interested in his son’s art and thinks it’s amazing).

So while I don’t think Curtain disapproves of SQ being artistic and creating art, I do think he is overtly critical of what SQ creates as he is seemingly critical of everything SQ does.

finished reading They Both Die at the End this morning and holy fuck Adam Silvera was not kidding
