Don't get me wrong, I adore companions in RPGs, they are very often the best part of the game and their personal quests and stories usually feature not just the best storytelling in games, but in any media period. But I also think that it would be nice to have a companion who's just... okay. And by that I mean just a dude with no tragic backstory, no secret world shattering powers, no trauma, no toxic traits, none of that. Their reasons for joining the party is not out of desperation but out of curiosity or mid-life crisis or something equally mundane and "boring."
Their personal quest composes merely of small, chill activities. Like taking the main character out to a market to grab some food which they later use to prepare a big dinner for the other hardworking companions. Or maybe they have their own personal romance within the group which they try to pursue and need your help to learn more about this person, because they are a little intimidated (and if you want to be evil, you can sabotage these efforts to get with their love interest yourself). They sometimes vanish from the group for a couple of hours, but the big reveal is that they would just sneak to a nearby town to get messengers and send some cash and loot they got to their family back home.
I know this companion would be definitely not received positively by the community (or maybe I'm just too jaded by people measuring characters primarily by looks and by how fucked up stuff they commit to deem them interesting), but I still think it would be a nice change of pace, even if this guy would probably be the most out of place in any RPG group.
In short, I'd love to see a comfy companion. A comfanion, if you will.

Once again playing a cringe video game because the developers somehow stumbled on some of the most captivating character relationships between the protag and the companions that I’ve ever seen.

Useless rpgs recs. Videogames (not dating sims) where you play or you CAN play as a character who is wlw or mlm
Names and characters/explanations under cut (might contain minor spoilers):
Just a note, when I say romance I mean that there is actual story and plot related to it. Otehrwise for games like Fable or Skyrim (no romance) I will just write "Marry". For the romance games, a more detailed list of characters and romances can be found here.
Dragon Age Origins: You can romance Leliana (f) or Zevran (m) even with a character of their same gender
Dragon Age 2: You can romance all your companions (but Sebastian) indipendently from gender
Dragon Age Inquisition: You can romance Josephine (f) and Iron Bull (m) with any gender, and you can romance a lesbian character (Sera) or a gay character (Dorian)
Greedfall: You can romance Vasco (m) or Siora (f) with any gender
Dragon's Dogma: You can romance any character with any gender
Jade Empire: Sky (m) and Silk Fox (f) are romancable by any gender
Fable series: You can marry a character of your same gender
Skyrim: You can marry a character of your same gender
Enderal: You can romance Jasper (m) or Calia (f) as any gender
Pillars of Eternity: Deadfire: You can romance all your companions with any gender
Pendula Swing: The protagonist is canonically wlw, and you can romance male and female characetrs
Hero-U: The male protagonist can romance male characters too
Cyberpunk 2077: There are different flirts (female characters) that can be romanced by any gender, plus two full fledged romances a wlw and mlm one.
Expeditions: Viking: There is a female character (Roskva) and a male character (Ketill) who can be romanced by any gender.
Expeditions: Rome: There is a female character (Daianeira) and a male character (Caeso) who can be romanced by any gender.
Pathfinder Kingmaker: This game has multiple romances that can be romanced by characters of the same gender, mainly for wlw. Regongar is the one male character who can be romanced by any gender and also in a poly relationship with Octavia. Octavia, Kanerah, Kalikke, Nyrissa are the female characters romancable by any gender.
Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous: Similar to Kingmaker, there are multiple characters romancable by male or female protagonists.
Rogue Trader: One male character and two female characters can be romanced by any gender.
Gamedec: Ken Zhou is the only romance option in game and can be romanced by any gender.#
Black Geyser: The romances are minimal, but there are multiple female and female characters romancable by any gender.
Always sometimes monsters (and sequel): you choose both the gender of the protagonist and the one of the romance.
Divinity Original Sin: If you play alone you control two characters who can end up in a romance (not fully written, almost subtle) indipendently from their gender.
Divinity Original Sin 2: All the companions can be romanced by any gender.
Disco Elysium: If you choose specific dialogue choices it is revealed that the protagonist (Harry) is attracted to men.
Baldur's Gate 1 and 2, enhanced edition: The enhanced edition adds Dorn and Hexxat who can be romanced by the same gender.
Baldur's Gate Siege of Dragonspear: Two romance options are not gender locked.
Baldur's Gate 3: All the companions are romancable by any gender, plus there are some more flirts/less developed romances.
Assassin's Creed Odyssey: Multiple characters through the game are not gender locked for romance.
Eternal Home Floristry: You play as a gay man.
80 Days: The protagonist (a man) is clearly in love with a man, you can also romance a male character.
The Technomancer: You play as a male character, one of your romance option is mlm.
Sorcery!: If you play as a male character you can still romance Flanker, who is also a man and is the one romance option in the game. If you play as a female character there are some dialogue choices that can establish your character as wlw.
Knight Bewitched: The protagonists are two women in love.
Dreamfall The Longest Journey: One of the protagonists (Kian) is a gay man.
Dreamfall Chapters: Kian and Saga are respectively a gay man and a pansexual woman.
Newfound Courage: The protagonist is a gay boy, but also the whole game is about being queer.
Haven: You play as a couple of lovers, who can be two women or two men.
Fallout 4: Some of the romance options are not gender locked.
Morrowind: There is a mod to romance (links of all mods here).
Solstice: Visual novel but not dating sim, you play as two characters and one of them is a gay man.
Mass Effect Trilogy: multiple companions (nb, f or m) can be romanced with any gender.
Mass Effect Andromeda: multiple companions can be romanced wtih any gender.
Hades: The protagonist (the son of Hades) can romance a male character (and enter into a poly relationship).
Icewind Dale II: mods
Icewind Dale: mod (one male character who can be romanced by a male protagonist).
GAMES I FORGOT (EDIT):
The Red String Club: you play as two gay men who are a couple.
Please keep in mind that this is the post I constantly update:

GreedFall 2 | Post Nacon Connect Spiders Live
youtube
Some important highlights:
We play as a native person of Tír Fradí, kidnapped and forcibly taken to the mainland continent of Gacane
There will be new factions introduced, as well as places we didn't learn about in the first game
We get party control!! Not turn-based combat, but we get more tactical control over our character and three companions. This was implemented from listening to player feedback from the first game
The world itself will be bigger, and both exploration and narrative are at the forefront of the experience
Early Access is happening! It is really important to the development team so they can gain feedback on how they're doing with a lot of big, new changes
Early Access will ONLY be available on Steam, though the full game will launch on consoles
There will be several phases of EA. The initial EA launch phase will allow access to the entire beginning of the game
Around 1/4 of the game may be available upon EA release
There will be updates at regular intervals, but save files WILL NOT be compatible between updates
This is their current roadmap of EA release
Tumblr media
Character, skill set and talents will still be customisable!!
More small quests for each region will be implemented to add depth of gameplay and aid in telling the main story
The dev team REALLY wants valuable and constructive feedback for both story and gameplay elements while they are still in EA
Crafting systems will be included again, but not in EA
The team thinks of the game not as a sequel or prequel but as a new story set within the same world
There will be some (few) characters that we know from the first GreedFall, and perhaps some little clues and easter eggs to other characters we know
A camera mode may (hopefully!) be available in the full game
There is no final release date as of now (March, 2024)
Price at EA will be lower than full release price, but publishers do not have a set price yet
There will be more companion options AND romance options! 😍
There will be further announcements about gameplay coming as EA gets closer
Finally, making a second GreedFall game was easier for the team because of the communication they had with the community! Spiders Games and the devs really love the GreedFall world, and they appreciate how much we love it too ❤️

okay i'm sorry for the incoming rant but i need to get it out of my system ( spoilers for greedfall , idk ) .
i know that people have written about this already but the tragedy that is constantin and his relationship with de sardet .. where do i even begin ? multiple entries in his codex tell us that he values de sardet more than anyone . his dearest cousin , his only childhood companion ( that we know of ) , the one he relies on and the one who shields him from all he perceives is evil . he may be used by his mother for her to gain more influence at court and his father may seem disappointed by his actions but de sardet is always there by his side , making his small world a little better . and because we know so little yet so much at the same time , my mind tends to wander and think about how their youth was .. when they trained with kurt , who was better at it ? did they make secret bets about who'd lose to him this time ? did they ever try fighting side by side ? when studying under sir de courcillon .. how was it ? we know that he taught them well but .. did they always pay attention ? did they ever skip class , hiding from the servants . did they ever pass each other notes during lessons , make faces at each other , scribble things on paper that only they would understand ? just imagine dinners with their family where they tried their best but always cracked a smile at one another , sweets stolen from the royal kitchens shared in secret , sleepovers .. and so much more , whatever else comes to your mind . when petrus told my character that instead of showing interest in his magical talent , he preferred to chase constantin around with a wooden sword , something inside of me broke and never healed . because at the end of the day , de sardet is truly his only friend . a friend he's so afraid to lose and .. in his mind , is losing . you can see it through the course of the story , constantin getting more and more desperate . desperate to keep the only person he truly loves in his life . de sardet slipping through his fingers with each passing day . they make new friends , connections , fall in love .. they travel the land and get to experience it all . yes , de sardet is still there for him but .. after they leave the governor's palace , he's left alone . alone with his thoughts growing darker and darker as his illness slowly takes over , the fear of death gripping his heart . surely he can't die . surely he can't be all alone . surely de sardet , the only person he can truly trust , will save him . but then the cure comes , in a form he'd never imagine ; twisting his features and bonding him to the land . and so the desperation grows , the anger grows , everything is too much . constantin asking his dearest cousin to give him more time , to trust him , breaks my heart every time i play through this game . the " but for you , for us " is such a raw and powerful line , because at the end of the day .. it is just them against the world . two young people who are so dependent on one another , who had to lift each other up from a very young age , who , in constantin's eyes , now pleading you to join him , can rely on no one but themselves ..

☆ Some more details about Greedfall 2. Please keep in mind that this came from the livestream I've tuned into.
We will not be getting two companions to follow us but we'll have a party of 4. We'll be controlling them, but it is uncertain if we'll be controlling them at once or controlling them individual.
More exploration. So, more and bigger regions to explore. More quests to do. Also more skills to get and learn from each region we'll explore.
We'll be staying on the island first before we'll be going to the other places.
More romances, but for now, it is unknown how many.
Our beloved and new protagonist is coming from a clan we never seen in the first game but one of the important clans.
More factions, maybe?? They have hinted at it.
Early access is available on stream because they will be polishing the game by getting the fanbase's feedback. The saves on the early access will not be transferring to the full game. The early access will only be the beginning of the game and that is all.
A few familiar faces will be popping up but most likely a brief cameo or a mention. So, the entire party we will be getting and the npcs as well as antagonists are brand new. My solid theory of who will be popping up is Mev. One of the devs talked a little about her. That and we got a new art for her. My other theories of familiar faces popping up is De Sardet, Constantin, and Vasco.
We will have a big secret coming our way. Both the interviewer and the dev kept repeating that throughout the live.
We will also meeting many of the companions in the early access.

the one thing greedfall could've benefitted from is your companions reacting to your PC being in a romance i think
esp kurt?? he's known de sardet for a really long time you're telling me he doesn't tease them about it the tiniest bit? or father petrus. he'd go "leave room for jesus" whenever DS and their LI are standing too close. you've got all these pals and they're not either cheering you on or teasing you about it??? or constantin even!! ok yes he's got bigger issue to deal with but he'd be real happy his cherished cousin has found someone!!

Greedfall was such a fucking ride and a half, I wish there were stuff to do after the ending, like a 60 hour epilogue game. The romance between my De Sardet and Siora was utterly beautiful, I wish it didn't have to take till near the end to romance her but oh god it was worth the wait.
And then the last quest and all the companions staying behind to help fight and us saying I love you in Siora's language and thinking that was it.. which made me sad. BUT THEN THIS HAPPENED. I recorded this after I saw it the first time lol.
Siora coming back for one last kiss, holding each other and never wanting to let go (LOOK AT MY CHARACTERS EYES!! SHES SO SAD ;_;) asking if this will be the last time she sees her face to which my de sardet character says she doesn't know... and Siora having one last long look to memorise her face in case this will be the last time she sees her soul mate and pushes her to go... I was robbed of a scene of them reuniting ;_;
But finding out, sounding like De Sardet might go back to the old continent in helping restore it and Siora being mal but leaving now and them to meet De Sardet.. so does that mean they are ldr until things are cleared and my girl stays forever with Siora? Or could she be doing all this in new serene??? I need answers!!! And I'll never bloody get them. I'd like to see my girl learning about her true family history and learning ways of teer fradee. And them getting married.... I haven't felt this way for a pairing in a long time. I def would love someone to draw them, I'll comission someone one day ;_;

Greedfall - #2 - Caged
*
“I need to search for him,” Constantin said, standing up.
Kurt caught his arm and pushed him back into his chair. “Enough of that. You’re not well enough to join the search.”
“You dare-” Constantin started.
“I can’t be worrying about you too,” Kurt said firmly.
Constantin put his face in his hands and took a deep breath before raising it. Vasco was certain the room being empty aside from De Sardet’s companions was the only reason Constantin would allow himself a moment of such visible weakness.
“It’s been two days, Kurt,” Constantin said, his voice threaded with worry. “He’s never done this. He’s not like me. He always checks in. Something’s happened. What if he’s injured and waiting for help?”
“Then we’ll find him and see that he gets help,” Kurt said. “I’ve got my men out searching for any sign of him.”
“We need to look at the possibility that he’s not missing due to an accident,” Petrus said. “He’s a go-between for many groups. It’s possible he angered someone.”
It sparked an unpleasant idea in Vasco. “There are three ships scheduled to leave tomorrow. Perhaps…Perhaps we should check the cargo.”
“He’d be an invaluable hostage,” Petrus agreed solemnly. “And once at sea, he’d have no chance at escape.”
“Two ships left yesterday,” Constantin said, looking to Kurt in alarm.
Kurt ignored the look. “Vasco, you and I will go to the docks to inspect the cargo. Siora, can you ask your people if they’ve seen anything?”
“Yes,” she said. “And if they haven’t, I can ask them to look for him when they go out, in case he is injured somewhere.”
“Thank you. Aphra, Petrus, you two discreetly ask around to see if anyone saw anything. If he was taken and not being smuggled out on the docks, perhaps he is being held in one of the warehouses,” Kurt said.
Vasco tuned them out as they discussed the details of likely buildings one would hold a hostage in. He knew he shouldn’t blame himself.
But he’d stayed with De Sardet that night. When De Sardet got up early in the morning and said he was going to fetch supplies from a vendor before the streets got busy, Vasco had playfully pulled the blanket over his head. De Sardet had kissed his head and left him to sleep, teasing him about being lazy.
He should’ve gone with De Sardet. Instead, he’d fallen back to sleep, waking and going down to the others to discover De Sardet had never returned.
“Vasco.”
He snapped out of his thoughts. Kurt gestured for him to follow.
“Constantin is quite upset,” Vasco said, then cringed a little at his own tactlessness. Obviously Constantin was upset.
“They are close,” Kurt said. “Given Constantin’s recent poor health, this stress isn’t good for him. And he’s right; if De Sardet is trapped and injured somewhere, we need to find him before it’s too late.”
They walked for a while in silence. As they neared the docks, though, Kurt finally spoke again.
“I know you were with him,” Kurt said. “I need you focused, Vasco. He’s an adult, not a child who needs to be accompanied on every errand. His disappearance is the fault of no one but the person who caused it.”
“I’m focused, Kurt. I assure you, nothing is more important to me right now than finding him,” Vasco said.
“I cannot have your guilt costing us with mistakes,” Kurt said.
Vasco nodded. They reached the docks and Vasco identified the three ships scheduled to depart.
“Allow me to handle this,” Vasco said. “We can’t have them getting suspicious.”
Kurt stepped back and tried to hide himself amongst the shadows so he wouldn’t draw attention to himself. Vasco approached the first of the ships, claiming he was searching for a Naut aboard with urgent business. He was allowed onto the ship and quickly checked the cargo, finding nothing suspicious.
He moved on to the next ship with the same story and was allowed aboard. He made his way to the hold of the ship, immediately on alert as he spotted a Naut who was seemingly guarding the cargo.
“Who’re you?” the Naut demanded.
“Captain Vasco. Some of my cargo’s been taken and I’m searching for it. I want no trouble, and I’ve been paid not to cause any,” he said, flashing the coins he’d already had on him.
It’d been a gamble, but it seemed to have worked as the guard hesitated but nodded and waved him forward. “What’re you lookin’ for?”
“The…goods…were in a crate with a wave carved into the side of it,” he said, mind supplying a lie as his gaze swept the hold. “Seen it?”
“Nah, but I ain’t the one who brought down all of it,” he said. “You been paid, you say?”
Vasco waved his hand dismissively. “What you transport on your ship is none of my concern. I just want my supplies back. Oh- that looks like-” He pretended to spot something as an excuse to move deeper into the hold. He raised his voice, a feeble hope. “Thought I saw it. Have you been watching out here all morning? Anyone come down to store anything?”
It was faint, might’ve even been a wave hitting the ship. But Vasco was certain he heard something.
The Naut was replying, but Vasco wasn’t listening to him. There it was again. He was certain it’d come from the back corner.
He moved casually, heart beating hard. He angled himself so he could see the back corner.
His breath caught.
Bound and gagged, De Sardet was in a cramped cage in the back of the hold. One of his eyes was nearly swollen shut, but the other was locked on Vasco, his shoulders slumping with relief.
Vasco was pointing his gun at the guard before he’d even registered he’d drawn it. “Give me the key.”
The guard had his hands up, eyes wide. “You said-”
“The key. Now.”
The guard slowly moved his hand to his waist, where a set of keys dangled. He tossed the set to Vasco’s feet.
“It ain’t what it looks like,” he said.
“You have him in a cage,” Vasco snarled, snatching up the keys.
“Lookit his face! He’s like them, but he’s one o’ us,” the guard said. “We was gonna bring him back. They’re paying well for anything that helps ‘em search for a malichor cure. The natives don’t get it, and we heard his old lady had it but he never got it. He’s immune, like them!”
The gunshot rang loud in the confined space, and the guard cried out in pain as his shot leg gave out. Vasco hurried over to the cage, unlocking it with shaking fingers and prying the gag from De Sardet’s mouth.
“Vasco,” De Sardet said, slumping against Vasco’s chest. He was bruised and bloody; they obviously hadn’t gotten him into the cage without a fight.
Vasco hugged him tightly. “It’s alright. We’re getting you out of here. Can you walk?”
“I’m not sure,” he admitted. Vasco tried to help him up, but he nearly lost his balance as he put weight on his ankle. “Ah, that would be a partial no. Your assistance, please.”
Vasco got an arm around him. He heard commotion going on above them on the ship and just hoped they didn’t have to battle their way out.
“Are you badly hurt, then?” he asked as he helped De Sardet limp along.
“They injured my ankle so I couldn’t flee after I nearly escaped them. They jumped me on my way to the vendor,” De Sardet said. “They were planning to sell me so I could be an…an experiment.”
Vasco tightened his hold. “That’s not going to happen. Come on.”
He gripped his gun in his free hand as he helped De Sardet up. On the ship, the city guards were apprehending the Nauts, Kurt directing them.
“De Sardet,” he said as he spotted them, hurrying over. “Are you hurt?”
“Nothing serious,” De Sardet assured. “I’m not sure how you managed to find me, but I am grateful. Please, is Constantin worried? I should go to him.”
“Will you think about yourself?” Vasco said. “We’ll send word we’ve retrieved you. He can see you after we’ve had you cleaned up and tended to.”
“He’s right,” Kurt said, cutting off De Sardet’s argument before it could start. “Seeing you like this will only upset him. I’ll send word now that we’ve safely recovered you and are having you looked over.” He turned to Vasco. “Are you alright? I brought the guard as soon as I heard the gunshot.”
“I’m fine. There’s an injured Naut in the hold. I shot his leg to keep him from following us,” Vasco said.
“Got it. I’ll take care of things here. Get him out of here,” Kurt said, placing a reassuring hand on De Sardet’s shoulder before turning back to his men.
Vasco got De Sardet off the ship. He was trying to sneak glances at him to assess his injuries. None seemed to be serious, but he had to be in pain judging by the nasty bruises on his exposed skin.
“A moment,” De Sardet said, pulling him to a stop as they reached a quiet alley. “I just need…a moment.”
“De Sardet,” Vasco said, helping him sit. He put an arm around him, holding him close. “I’m sorry that happened to you. I’m so sorry.”
“They put me in a cage,” he said quietly. “Like some kind of…animal. They don’t know that my parents were from here. They just saw my face and decided I look like one of them, and that makes me no longer a person. It’s sickening, Vasco. The natives are people. They’d just as hastily stick Siora in a cage. It’s dreadful.”
He was shaking. Vasco’s heart broke, but he could think of no way to ease De Sardet’s distress.
So he held him, and vowed revenge against those he had caged him like some unruly beast. As if where he was from made him any less of a person. No, Vasco would never let anyone do something so cruel to De Sardet again.
But the damage had already been done, so they sat together as De Sardet shook with the stress and horror of his capture and imprisonment.

Birthday Girl
@merruschka - a little birdy told me it's your birthday, so I decided to write a short Greedfall fic for you!
Tumblr media
The house was quiet and still - Pheobe called out to the servants, her companions, but no one answered. She bit her lip and sighed, desperately trying to quell the feeling of disappointment. The island was on the brink of war, Constantin was sick, the Malichor was still rampant on the continent... there were more important matters than her birthday.
But it was a lonely feeling.
She padded into the kitchen and picked at the fresh fruit on the counter before scaling the stairs to her bedroom. Three steps from the top she stopped to look at something on the wooden stair, blocking the shine of the glossy surface. It was soft and fragrant under her fingers - a rose petal.
She looked down, letting her eyes trail across the room, and saw that they were peppered across the stairway and bottom floor. They made a trail to her bedroom door, and a sliver of light was spilling from within. With shaking hands, Pheobe pushed the door open and smiled so widely that it made her cheeks ache. The room was lit by dozens of dainty white and blue candles, filled with flowers, and in the center... her love.
Sitting at a small table with a nervous smile on his face, Vasco looked younger and softer than she had ever seen him,
"Hello Tempest," he said with a voice as soft as summer rain,
"Hello love," she said, throat tight and burning, "what's all this?"
"You didn't think I had forgotten?" He asked, chuckling when she shrugged,
"It's not the most important thing in the world," she said, trying to sound nonchalant,
"It is to me," he replied and stood, holding his broad, tanned hand out to her, "come sit."
She let herself be led to the table, and when he pulled out her seat, she found herself giggling like a child. The table was laid with delicate cakes and chocolates, fresh fruits, and small sandwiches with a few bottles of wine, cold enough to sweat in the warm room.
And a small box with an icy blue ribbon wrapped around it.
Vasco smiled, the lines around his eyes deepening as she pulled the silky ribbon free and the small box started to unfold itself. Inside was a dainty bracelet, silver with some sparkling blue gemstones that seemed to move and pulse like water in the candlelight,
"It is a small thing-"
"It's beautiful," she said, tears threatening to spill from her eyes, "so beautiful, Vasco. I can't thank you enough." She blinked slowly and shook her head, "it is utterly perfect."
"As are you," he said and reached over to touch her arm, "shall I put it on you?" She nodded and extended her arm so that he could fasten the delicate bracelet around her wrist, then placed a kiss on the pale veins that showed there, "will you take wine?"
"Of course," Pheobe said and reached for a cake, breaking it in half to offer him the larger half, which he gratefully accepted. Vasco grinned through a mouth of sweet cake and icing,
"I didn't know if you would want something more..." he waved a hand,
"No, no, Vasco this is perfect. This is wonderful... I just don't know how you managed to do this so quickly." She motioned to the room with a disbelieving laugh,
"Everyone helped... even Kurt," he said with a laugh, "though he made a face and called me a sop. We all appreciate what you do, Pheobe, we all love you. We all want you to be happy."
"I am happy." She kissed his knuckles gently,
"Good..." He kissed hers in return and then winked at her, "here's to the birthday girl." He poured wine into her glass and then his own, "may this year be better than the last."
"With you by my side, it will be, love, I'm sure of it." Their glasses made a soft clink as they met and the candles whispered and jumped. Outside rain began to patter on the ground and, for one moment, the world was at peace.

Really disappointing when a game feels like its only gonna get one playthrough from me
Like, its usually a fantastic game but like knowing the outcome and like stuff that happens on the way makes a second run feel less interesting if that makes sense?
Plenty of games are also great but I can play them a ton of times
But i've never been able to commit to for example Divinity Original Sin 2 for a second go because I know what I have to do, I dont have to work out anything
…basically tried playing GreedFall again and just kinda got bored/annoyed because I really wanted the tattoo but like 🙄 had to replay a few fucking hours because for some dumb reason you can only take one companion quest at a time and if you do certain quests in the wrong order you dont get the option to have the tattoo despite that not making much sense (Also fuck Kurt)
Aaaand then I just started thinkin about the stuff from the top

Extremely niche post catering to approximately six of my mutuals and/or followers about how I think the GreedFall characters (in an idealised, good ending where a cure is possible and everyone is happy) would react/interact with the BG3 companions and Tav (well. my original tav, at least)
Vasco is hard to warm up to new people, but then he hears Wyll and Karlach hyping each other up and talking about their adventures, and especially with the way Wyll romanticises things so much, he's now listening SO intently. In return the two of them are enraptured when Vasco describes his life as a Naut, and the range of things he experienced on the seas at such a young age. He has an almost pained sort of reaction when he hears about Wyll growing up as nobility, and circumstances ripping him away from it, but is inspired to know how Wyll grows from that experience to be so much more than just the Duke's son. He really loves how much Karlach loves her people
Siora is also a little stressed about how she would be received but Jaheira and Halsin are super easy to gravitate towards and there is very quickly an understanding as they discuss their deep connections to the land and their people. Siora describes the Nádaig with such reverence and fear and awe and the two druids are positively spellbound. Halsin talks about Thaniel, and then both he and Jaheira take turns describing their wildshaping and giving some demonstrations, much to Siora's delight. I think she would also be quietly in awe of the other women in the group too, and their prowess and experiences
Kurt is pretty standoffish and just wants to keep an eye on De Sardet and Constantin, but at some point he strikes up a conversation with Shadowheart and Astarion. It's tense and cagey for a long while, and I'm not sure how it would even come up, but he learns of the Dark Justiciar training and Astarion's past under Cazador's heel, and then he's gently sharing his own traumatic experiences to show how much he understands. The camp, and the things they were made to do.... Nobody makes mention of the quick, but fiercely protective hugs between the three of them (I headcanon Kurt is a hugger. The man WILL crush someone in a hug). There is a wordless bond of strength and healing through action (and no small amount of revenge)
Aphra and Gale are warily eyeing each other up, but man. You can fit so many 'intense special interest in my chosen field of study' into these bad boys. If you can get one of them to shut up for long enough, the other will just as easily keep the conversation going. They don't quite understand much of what the other is talking about but there is mutual acceptance and respect from a scholarly point of view. Gale mentions the view from his tower in Waterdeep, and Aphra's resolve will crumble as she describes the observatories where she grew up
Petrus is stuck between Lae'zel and Minthara who are both ranting about power struggles and God/s in the Fanatics Corner™️. He quickly learns to keep his mouth shut unless he's asked for an opinion, but there is a great deal of intelligent theological debate, and about how to deal with hierarchy and control of a people, when what they have been told is the truth, simply. Is not.
De Sardet and Tav are passing a bottle of something STRONGLY alcoholic back and forth, lamenting the staggering amount of work that a 'Chosen Leader' has to do to bring people together and broker some sort of peace or alliance, OR make the hard choice and cut ties before things become unsalvageable. The conversation starts off pretty unhappy and painful, but ends with a lot of hope and love
Finally, Constantin has been utterly charmed by Minsc and Boo. So neither the Stone Lord nor our dear, darling ball of curiosity, Constantin, are causing any trouble right now. Boo is pulling every string and eldritch(?) favour he can to keep this duo contained

☆ Here is more information, regarding Greedfall 2. Basically a sum up of what we were told but with a little more information!!
Anyways, I am not only posting this for those who are not caught up to my Greedfall postings, especially last week, but to talk about what is said. Just because I am curious! Of course, some questions I will be asking will be answered. Still asking them all the same.
So, first of all, we are definitely getting more factions. I know they said they will be adding more, given the first game was limited to one area. Now, we will be exploring more areas and more lore.
But I was right!! We will be meeting Mev! I mean it is expected because she's been featured a lot in art and being mentioned. So, it's no surprise. Just how exactly is she involved? Is she from the same clan as our protagonist? Or is our protagonist coming from a clan that deals heavily with Mev's clan? Who are the other characters we will be seeing?
I am placing my bets that it is De Sardet, Constantin, and Vasco. Maybe even Kurt or Síora or even Dunncas. But!! We will also be hearing more about what is going down in the first game. It will flesh the universe and the games out, even if it's not like the biggest thing to focus on. So, we'll hear about Aphra going to the island, given she left about 2-3 years prior to the first game to come to the island and the second game is around that time. We may know more about Siora's mother as well. Of course, we will not be knowing until the early game ir the actual game comes out.
Again, Greedfall 2 is not a prequel in a way we kno w it as. Just the same universe with little to no direct ties to the first game.
I am excited to see who are the companions, the factions, and who we can romance. I can't wait for early access to come already because I reeeeaaaaalllly want to know and I know the devs are trying their best to not spoil too much for us. More romance, more romance. Brand new characters as well.
"First live."
That means there are will be MORE lives we be getting in the near future. So, that is something I am looking forward to. What will be disclosed is unknown. Mind you, they keep repeating those words. So, it is hinted we will be getting more stuff to discuss about.
Now, for the early access. Some people are hating on it and saying they should push forth the actual game. I prefer if they don't because, like the devs said, they want to make sure the game is on the right path and satisfy the players. A lot of feedback would be nice. They also go on saying that they will be adding a few new stuff we never had in the first game. I mean we will be getting tons of new stuff but a few features people wanted originally. Such as a photo mode, which is nice because it means taking photos without putting De Sardet right smack in the middle or finding an angle where they aren't seen. So, this would be nice.
Anyways!! So, that answers everyone's questions. We will be customizing the protagonist like we did with De Sardet. It makes me wonder if they added more things to customizing our character. I sure hope so because, as nice as the original customizing options are, they were quite limited. Moving forward, exploring may be key to interacting with certain characters as well as gaining new skills?? Bet, bet.
We will be seeing a lot of updates. Not only within the game itself but for how the progress of the game will be like. So, I cannot wait!

finished greedfall, finally (got the good ending). honestly i feel like it could’ve had a lot more emotion than it did. it was sorta… eh to be honest. spoiler alert for greedfall, dragon age games, red dead games
like thinking about ending of arthur’s story in rdr2, ending of john’s story in rdr, which are sad, make you cry, etc as you empathise with these outlaws that have done bad things but are still good people and end up betrayed by those they trusted. the ending of dragon age origins can also be sad if your hero/warden dies to kill the archdemon.
then there’s the end of trespasser (which shouldn’t have been a dlc since it was the true ending of the game cough cough bioware) which was shocking when you first play it and a great setup for the next game (which i am looking forward to da:d), my mouth genuinely dropped open at the end of it.
dragon age 2’s ending is of course the final battle, it’s very dramatic, and there is the possibility of you having to kill some of the companions in the game. could it have been better? absolutely, but of course the entire story is presented in an interesting way and varric is an unreliable narrator so we may also never fully know everything that happened, which is what makes things so interesting. it’s the mage/templar conflict that was building up over the game and finally boiling over.
the last cutscene in greedfall with constantin could’ve had a lot more emotion. i almost cried during the actual cutscene of my de sardet saying goodbye to romanced vasco. i was slightly saddened by my de sardet killing constantin, though i was expecting to actually fight constantin and that didn’t happen (which would’ve made things more intense and so on), rather than fighting the guardian which the name i can’t remember. i was also expecting my de sardet to be a lot more outwardly emotional about stabbing her cousin in the gut, rather than what it really was (which was more of an internally shut down, sorry but not expressing it and being more stoic). i was expecting de sardet to be in anguish, which is how it happens in my brain.
they are my own expectations, it’s more that i do love the game, setting, and characters, but just wanted a little bit more imo.
