Today is greek easter and every year we always do a family gathering. My younger cousins are young but they're getting older, like doubting why my grand uncle dissapears everytime Santa comes kind of older.

Anyways, I was being the cool older cousin, hanging out with them downstairs, watching them play mario odyssey, drawing with them, etc. Except I probably shouldve distracted them better or closed the blinds slightly because they saw my brother and his boyfriend hiding the chocolates from the window. (The oldest even shouted "what a rip off")

And being the person I am, I wanted to say something to preserve that childlike hope that the easter bunny does exist.

So in the moment, I said "Well what did you think? This is greek easter. The easter bunny doesn't do Greek easter, he doesnt like Greek people"

I cant tell if they belived me or not, but I dont know if I want them to.

The Mini Greeks are celebrating Good Friday today (Greek Orthodox Easter is a week later this year). They're attending the church service, singing hymns, will kiss the Epitaphion (the altar decorated with flowers and blessed with Myrrh), and be given some flowers to take home.

At the weekend, they will eat Souppa Avgolemono (Egg-Lemon soup with Chicken broth and rice), knock red eggs together, eat Koulouria biscuits, and tackle a big chocolate Mini Eggs egg! Καλό Πάσχα! (Kaló Páscha = Happy Easter!)
