It's one of the first times I've read a book in one breath. It is a collection of poems that speaks to me and I'm looking forward to read her first book; Joyriding the storm.

If you are looking for empowering contemporary poetry from female authors look no further.

A few poems I've loved are

✨Tent, Heirloom, Things I cannot promise you, Drown✨

🌊Drown

once again they placed rocks in your pockets

and challenged you to walk on water

It was a joke only you and the shore shared

how could the ocean ever swallow you

when your womb is rocked to sleep

by the gentle pull of the moon

who in turn knows and owns the tides

that your ancestors bathed and worshipped in

your saboteurs did not know where to look

as you advised they sought another cautionary tale

you have no intention of suffering

for anyone's salvation except your own

✨What kind of books do you read?

I enjoy reading pretty much everything. I used to be more picky when I was younger but now I recognize the value of each literary genre. I am particularly interested in non-fiction and feminist literature but I also love reading classics, children's books, poetry, drama and historical fiction.

✨Do you have a favourite place to read?

Easy answer, my bed. I am flexible though, I read at the beach, on the plane, at the park..

✨Do you read one book at a time?

Usually yes. Unless I read a book that takes me too long to finish, usually non-fiction, I might start reading another genre.

✨Do you re-read books?

I do not re-read books. Am I the only one? I think of all the books that are out there waiting for me to discover them. I might re-read a few children's books or magazines.

✨What books or series got you into reading?

I remember myself reading children's books and learning them by heart. Harry Potter and the Princess Diaries were the two English books that got me into reading in other languages.

✨What books or series are you most excited about?

A Discovery of Witches

✨Do you have a monthly book budget?

I don't. I read slowly so I rarely read more than two books a month.

✨Do you listen to music while reading?

I did in the past but not anymore. I might use my headphones when I want to read and there is too much noise. I will usually listen to music from Studio Ghibli.
