'Netflix's new thriller Ripley landed on our screens on Thursday and viewers have wasted no time getting stuck into the series.

Adapted from Patricia Highsmith's 1955 novel The Talented Mr. Ripley, the eight-parter is set in 1960s New York and stars Andrew Scott in the titular role of Tom Ripley, a streetwise opportunist who's hired by a wealthy industrialist to retrieve his wayward son, Dickie Greenleaf (Johnny Flynn), from Italy.

Soon, Ripley has wheedled his way into Dickie's life, while the latter's girlfriend Marge (Dakota Fanning) grows more suspicious. What follows is a deadly game of lies and deceit...

Taking to social media, viewers heaped praise on the new series, with many binging multiple episodes in one sitting. One person wrote: "The new miniseries #Ripley starring Andrew Scott on Netflix is so good!! Highly recommend!!" while another commented: "Binged the first 5 eps tonight… couldn't take my eyes off the screen…stunningly shot, deliciously noir, #AndrewScott is utterly spellbinding, as I knew he would be. Mesmerising from the start."

A third person compared the show to the 1999 adaptation, which starred Matt Damon, Jude Law, and Gwyneth Paltrow. "Watching #Ripley on @netlfix and this is giving me all of the noir vibes Matt Damon never could. It's so good," they penned.

Other viewers couldn't help but comment on the stunning cinematography of the series, which is filmed in black and white. One fan wrote: "Watching #Ripley and I love the way it's photographed. Stunning b&w. It's a bold creative choice when b&w [equals] old to so many, instead of a thematic and aesthetic one. More, please."

A second person remarked: "Two episodes in and @netflix's #Ripley is sheer class. Love the languorous pace, the b&w cinematography and measured performances," while another added: "#Ripley #AndrewScott beautifully shot, beautifully directed, beautifully acted, just wow. Can Andrew surpass this delectable level of talent? The atmosphere delivered by the black and white cinematography was genius!"

Many also applauded Andrew's performance as master manipulator Tom Ripley, with one person writing: "Started #Ripley on @netflix. Andrew Scott is one of my favourite actors to watch because his character work is always so precise and layered. It's a treat to watch him do his thing!"

A second penned: "Andrew Scott is superb so far in #Ripley, such a talented & versatile actor who is insanely brilliant at what he does."

Director Steven Zaillian described Ripley as "a petty criminal who feels he deserves better than his meager circumstances", telling Netflix that Andrew is the perfect fit for the role because "he has the range to play the many personas of Ripley".

Speaking about his character on Radio 4's Today programme, Andrew said: "I think he's an anti-hero, that's what I think he is, and I think it's up to me to make the audience imagine what it’s like to be Tom Ripley, not to be a victim of Tom Ripley. That's what we should feel like.

"We should empathise with him, and I don't necessarily think that that's the job of an antagonist or a villain. Tom is the protagonist in this, and so for that reason I just don't see him in that way."'

Darkbloom Ep9

Warning there is some cursing in this chapter Sage is realllllly angry about what happen and also that she lost her gloves.

After the nightmares

Temple of Torm:

Wittr had brought us to the temple of Torm for the recovery, Sage was still out of it. After a few days with the temple head priest working with both Sage and Wittr. (Wittr proceeded with some holy stuff that will be very helpful to the party later, while Sage kept going in and out of conscious. A few days have pass and Sage can move around on her own and is way better than she was. Wittr is Ordained.)

The girls agreed to stop by the guildhall, (While Sage was MIA, Valen gave her keys to the apartment, and she also issued a new shield for her to be made by the Forgehammer). Sage had to talk to Alara to help her with her crippling fear of plants now, and Wittr wanted to check on the status of her shield.

(Also, Sage leveled up after that fight so she is now a level 4 rogue and a Level 2 Druid, that’s right she can Wild Shape!!!!!)

Some Green Guidance:

Upon entering the Greenleaf Guild, Sage is standing still, it’s obvious that she is having a panic attack with all the green plants around her, so Alara suggests that they take a walk. Sage goes into detail how this experience has been traumatic for her, and she explains her account with Selena (Bitch) how Sage observed that Selena didn’t like Alara.

Alara takes the conversation and tells Sage that Selena had come by the guild looking for Spider Fangs and apprentices, but she found nothing. Alara helps Sage with the decay that is now inside of her due to the attack, instead of fearing it, try embracing it.

They part ways while Sage meets up with Wittr, they plot their next plan and head off to the library to speak with Eve.

Happy place:

They arrived at the library which the desk clerk tells the girls to head up the stairs to a warp pad to go to Eve’s office. Now Sage is in her happy place (Book shop, Library etc.) Wittr had to keep an eye on her, so she doesn’t fall off the stairs.

They get up to the office, but they hear loud yelling, so Sage goes to the keyhole and listens in, the person who is yelling is male, Sage could only make out so many words and those words are:

Bull Sh!t, IronHold, Blackthorn, experiments, go ahead and waste your time, Hag Bitch.

At this point Sage steps back when the door opens to see a male chestnut brown hair, green eyes, and a beard. He apologizes and leaves.

The girls head in to see Eve drinking something, she sees Sage and Wittr and welcomes them, the girls sit down and they start talking about Selena (bitch), Eve then shows the girls a table with a magic circle and candles and some components on the table.

Eve says she wants to show Wittr and Sage something and offer her hands to the girls (this is when the DM ask for both of us players to roll for Con with saving throw of 15. Sage, I think she rolled 9 and Wittr rolled a bit better I think but it wasn’t a 15+) Like a drone The girls and Eve are shot up in to air (astral self our physical selves are still at the Eve’s office) and then the group shoots forward, the girls see Windcrest and then a sharp turn, the girls see a castle with watch towers and lots of iron (at this point the DM ask again to roll an investigation, Sage rolled really high while everyone else not so much.) Sage knows that this castle is Ironhold penitentiary, but she also hears a growling sound from Ironhold.

Sage makes a mental note of this, but she is brough back to everyone else speed, they find a little town in the swamp, but the spell is bringing the girls to the forest swamp outside of town. When they are stopped by a barrier, the girls try to proceed again but are stopped then they back in their physical bodies and when that happens both girls vomit by sheer force of the momentum.

Eve (after everyone is feeling better) explains that where the barrier is she cannot proceed further (Scrying force field). She also explains that Selena (bitch) is a Night Hag.

Sage then proceeded to ask the other girls when they got to the part with the prison did anyone else hear growling.

This concerned Eve, she then gets up goes over to a cabinet and brings out iron shackles then she extends the magic circle and places the shackles in the circle. Eve ask if Sage was willing do it again, and Sage knocks back some water and grabs Eve’s hand (again DM ask Sage to roll for con DC 15, and once again she rolls low) this time it was easier, getting to Ironhold, but then (roll for perception) Sage hears the growling then it goes on to full on roar “SAGE!” again forced back into her physical body, she then vomits.

Sage now thinking where she heard this voice, she then remembers the purple uggo, (She only heard him speak once.) Sage then proceeds to shaking Wittr saying “I know the voice; I know the voice!” Wittr then ask who it was, Sage then said to her “It’s the purple Uggo.” The girls explain to Eve about the Oni-kin, and Eve gets the idea of spying on them, but she needs to have something that belong to them.

(At this point me and Wittr’s player were racking our brains, we didn’t think to save any blood we could have gotten in a fight, but then I got an idea, and the DM allows it too when I pitch my idea.)

Sage then says she does have something from them, she then points to her scar on her cheek (She got that during the beach fight)

So, after steeling herself (she rolled really good this time.) the scrying took them to Ironhold and the DM describe the growling increasing, while the locations change from the jail courtyard, proceeding to cells then going down to the lower levels till finally we see a room filled with platinum and columns and over in the corner is a figure sharping a sword.

The figure stops (its purple uggo), but before anything else happens a magical blast knocks Sage off her feet and slams her into the wall behind her. (At this point DM asks for a dex save for Owain, which he rolls realllllly high. The DM describes how during the scrying Owain peeks out from Sage’s hood and at the last second jumps off a Sage and on to Wittr while she is slammed back.)

So, yes Sage pretty much got magic kick with the force of a mule.

This now greatly worries Eve, and she writes a letter, tells the girls to see the Harbor master ASAP.

Thaddeus and the Harbormaster:

On the way to the Harbor office the girls wanted to check in on the Kraken’s den, the nightmares they went through they wanted to see if everyone was present and accounted for. Which a very emotional reunion and seeing Thaddeus and Orc chef and the Chitterwings was ok. Thaddeus mentions the room the girls where the attacked was still locked by the guards. The girls said they would inquire when the room would be able to let out again, but now they wanted to go over the room and see if anything was left behind. Wittr discovers claw marks, from the Dream Wreath, but nothing more.

They leave and make it to the harbor office; on the boardwalk they do see Ben directing people and barking out orders and when he sees the girls he comes over and usher the girls into his office. Ben once inside his office he locks the door and explains that with what has been going on he needs to be careful.

Ben sits down and the girls discuss what has been going on and ask questions about rumors that they heard about.

Rumor:

This morning Ironhold penitentiary had riots and an almost escape attempt, but it was stopped before anyone could escape.

Ben explains it was true and he is working on how the explosives got into Ironhold. They talk a lot and Ben mentions someone named K.

(At this point, I describe how Sage who is writing in her personal notebook her hand jerks harshly to the left and looks up)

Sage then starts inquiring about K, which Ben knows very little about, Sage then explains before the party she got an envelope left in her room, it was booby trap and in the envelope was an encoded letter from K.

Sage also explains about Urghat, how before his execution, someone came to his cell and wiped his memory but all he could remember was the name Cassin. Ben tells her that Cassin is here and is a small-time smuggler.

Both girls want to come with Ben later when he goes to Ironhold, Sage wants to question Blackthorn. She knows that he is a smuggler, and he may know something about K or Cassin. (Yeah Blackthorn, was caught and sent to Ironhold.) But they tell Ben they got an invite to Fancy Dave, which he shows the girls his letter. Ben explains that serval other people had come to Ben with the same letter (they are all part of law enforcement). The girls wanted more intel before jumping headfirst into something. Wittr also asked if she could use a courier to get her new shield sent here.

The girls bid Ben goodbye, jump on Ohava and race to the Rose.

Fancy Meeting you here:

They get to the Rose and passing by the statue of Zehair, Sage gives a side-eye to it, annoyed by the god.

The girls see a lot of new people in the bar, but they have a mission, so they make a bee line to the Iron door that is being guarded.

The guard rudely asked “What the frick we wanted?” Which Sage (who rolled high on immediate) promptly said “Do not test me boy”. Shows the letter to the guard, he looks and says, “one moment.”

(Ok Sage is not having a great time and she is done being nice, she wants answers, and she wants revenge on Selena (Bitch)) 

A few minutes later, the guard comes back and says, “Dave will see you now.” The girls go through and find a war forge person seated at a desk (when the girls pass through the foyer Wittr sees a Trident.) He greets the girls and motions them to sit down. (With intel we found on Dave we learned that he is very sensitive about his appearance and does not mention anything about it.)

On his desk he has a lot of ornaments, he messes with one which activates a magic spell (He cast Zone of Truth.) He explains what he did, Sage who just got done being cursed and was not able to lie goes on a rant here. But Dave explains he also can’t lie (Player me doesn’t know a lot about War Forge, and I’m not sure if they can lie?)

Dave explains that the girls are late but understands why. He knows a lot of people who want both girls’ dead. (Which is very surprising since the Urghat case was Sage first case.) The girls start asking questions about the riots, Blackthorn and what are his steaks in this.

Dave answers some big questions, who were the Uggos and now Sage and Wittr have names for these two: Whitner & Walker also know as the Wisp brothers. (Sage yells out “The Uggos!!!” when Dave confirms he was talking about the Oni-kin.) They have fallen out of favor with Dave.

Dave answers in order that Blackthorn crew was trying to bust him out of prison, and they are in the sewars. Blackthorn used to work for K, and now he (Blackthorn) is in jail due to some info that Dave provided. He wants Blackthorn dead, and he also wants intel on K. He also lets the girls know that Cassin is at Ironhold along with K.

Which Sage puts pieces together that K is probably going to kill Blackthorn, but Dave is the one that said it out loud first that was K plan was.

Dave offers an alliance as such, if Blackthorn dies and he gets intel on K, he would be very happy. But Sage pretty much tells Dave K is hers. She also said that she won’t kill Blackthorn, but she won’t help him either if he was injured.

With an alliance Sage does get bold enough to ask for something that would give her edge in a fight, which Dave gets up and goes over to a shelf and with some rummaging he has a box of holding x 2 and he is shifting around in it ask, “For a rogue yes?” Sage confirms this and he then hands her an amulet of Spiders.

He summons a Drow Elf lackey and tells him to get the trident (had thunder damaging and it’s a trident of returning.) He then bids the girls farewell. (When Sage leaves, she flips the guard off as she walks out, she is normally not petty, but she had a very looooong day.)

Go to Jail:

The girls meet back up with Ben, Wittr has her new shield, and everyone gets on a horse provided (except Wittr she has Ohava).

Owain is super happy, it’s his first time on a horse. During the trek to the jail, Sage takes this time to attune to her new necklace and meditates, which she feels the poison and the decay that she now has she hears a faint voice inside of her that says “Mother”.

The DM explains that Circle of Spores druids have a symbiotic entity, the DM explains that voice is decay.

Denmark Psychedelic Doom Titans SONIC MOON Reveal Striking Debut LP

I knew from the moment I heard the opening track from 'Return Without Any Memory' (2023) that I wanted SONIC MOON to be featured in these pages, for the Aarhus 5-piece are a special band.

The colors are all right for their album cover, as opening track "The Waters" really does conjure those unearthly yellows, blues, and reds. It's a song that meets somewhere at the junction of Soundgarden, Greenleaf, and Mars Red Sky. The drums mark a desert rock pace and the song rolls steady, with jaded roadhouse vocals and dark Pentagramesque riffing.

There's something lonely, but comforting about the songs on the album. These are dark, otherworldly tracks with downtuned grunge tone and warmly bittersweet vocals, gliding calmly along in a vessel of fuzz down the shuddering waters of Styx. I took it all in while the moon was shining bright in my backyard and it was an ultra-cool experience, particularly during "Head Under The River."

Reached for comment, the band had this to say about the new LP:

It took us some years and a few EPs to reach a point where we were satisfied enough with our material to put it on a full-length album. It’s something we looked towards from the very beginning, it just took a while to get there!

Almost every song starts with one of us bringing a riff or a loosely based idea to rehearsal, and from there we work the rest out as a group. So it's a very collaborative process.

The new album was self-recorded at our rehearsal space in February 2022. We recorded everything live, except the vocals. We had very limited time to record, so we actually ended up recording the instrumental parts in a single day.

Sonic Moon's debut album Return Without Any Memory is one of the clear standouts of 2023, a record I'll be revisiting often. Get it Friday, August 4th, through the band and Olde Magick Records (pre-order vinyl here). Stick it on a playlist with Witchcraft, King Buffalo, Dunbarrow, and Magmakammer.

Return Without Any Memory by Sonic Moon

SOME BUZZ

Sonic Moon is the sound of Kevin Starrs meeting Josh Homme on an acid trip in the dark Scandinavian winter. It is heavy guitar-riffs, drowned in fuzz and delay, carried through by a swaying drum- and bass-section, complimented by a raw and melodic vocal. The lyrics consume the remaining light, and touches subjects like nihilism, sorrow and anger.

After spending the better part of two years unfolding their contrasting and riff-based take on psychedelic stoner rock, Sonic Moon release their 7-track self-recorded debut album Return Without Any Memory on August 4th, 2023 on Olde Magick Records.

The first single Give It Time was released on May 12 and premiered by the stoner rock blog the Sleeping Shaman. Additionally, the music video was released on the 666MrDoom’s Youtube channel focusing on doom, stoner and psychedelic rock and metal.

Return Without Any Memory’s dark and heavy groove introduces the band's shared feeling of encapsulated loneliness, anger and frustration, all contained within the refined sound produced by the intensive care, effort and soul that the band fueled the album with.

Return Without Any Memory will be available on vinyl in two editions: ‘Blue Moon’ and ‘Cloudy Splatter’ on Bandcamp. The album is recorded by Sonic Moon, mixed and mastered by Haldor Grunberg at Satanic Audio, and the artwork is designed by Mirkow Gastow.

if anyone here has read/enjoyed my fics , I just wanted to post my ENTIRE drafts to let you know what’s coming next (I can’t promise I’ll get around to all of these, but if there’s any you want me to prioritize , just let me know) 

in no specific order

Legolas Greenleaf (LOTR) - based more off of the movies than the books. oc is half elf half sorceress and she goes on Bilbo’s adventure .. eventually meeting Legolas in mirkwood and then fighting with him in the battle of five armies. after the battle, she finds him again and begs him to take her with him because she doesn’t want to go back to her old life again. they go on a bunch of adventures. oc is besties w aragorn. 

Lemony Snicket (ASOUE) - as in his entity as a character in the series, not the author himself (more the tv show than the books even though the books were my ENTIRE childhood) ((the author’s actual name is daniel handler and he’s a lovely person)) anyways, 

my advice for you first and foremost is to never fall in love with a writer

especially if that writer is a prominent member of a secret organization

especially especially if said writer is committed to uncovering and documenting the sad lives of three orphans, the children of a past lover who has died tragically

my name is odessa denouement and I am begging you to put this book down and go read something more pleasant, such as the littlest elf or a story that doesn't involve pain, suffering, and a general lack of morals

odessa and lemony meet when their VFD missions overlap and they’re forced into a number of highly dangerous situations together. features a tragic ending. 

Percy Weasley and Oliver Wood (HP) - because we all know they were in love. probably their last years of hogwarts into the second war. focuses a lot on percy going to the dark side. probably pretty angsty.

Will Turner (POTC)- oc is Jack Sparrow’s daughter. she’s super cool. raised by pirates. best parental relationship I’ve ever written (I usually go for the really shitty parent trope, but this time their relationship is rlly soft and makes me happy) anyways, she falls in love with will turner and it’s hot. 

Beatrice and Phillipa (HP) - cute lesbians in gryffindor (golden trio era). should probably read my bill weasley series first because it’s a spinoff. would probably be their fifth year to sometime around the end of the war. main focus would be bea’s shift to the dark side. 

FP Jones (Riverdale) - gotta preface this one with the fact that I hate riverdale as much as the next guy (sorry riverdale fans) I mean . the show’s insane. BUT FP is what got me through it. so this is the story of him and jughead’s mom in the 80s , then there’s a time jump to the first or second season. going to be short but cute. 

Steven Hyde (that 70s show) - NOT played by d*nny m*sterson. anyways, oc moves to point place from nyc with her mom (who kinda sucks -yes, we’re back to the shitty parent trope-) falls for hyde and it’s rly angsty. at some point she lives in hyde’s old house but i’m not sure exactly when bc idk what season I want to start the season on. she’s also best friends with jackie because I’m in love with jackie. 

Regulus and Marlene (HP) - umm so to be completely honest I don’t know what the plan was for this one. the only thing it says in the draft is “marlene is a slytherin”. I think I was high when I made it. but I feel like there’s some sort of potential there so we’ll see what happens. 

Remus Lupin (HP) - either wolfstar or a slytherin oc or maybe regulus I don’t know. I have some ideas for scenes, but no specific people or genders or really any details at all. I just know I’m in love with remus and want to write about him and his sweaters. 

Jesse Pinkman (Breaking Bad) - oc and jesse keep meeting by chance. first it’s because she’s staying at his parent’s house out of necessity (ep 2), then it’s because she’s Jane’s roommate, then it’s at Jane’s funeral. they keep saying they’re parting ways. that they’ll never see each other again, but it doesn’t work. one way or another, they’ll end up together. 

Minerva McGonagall and Pomona Sprout (HP) - one of my fav ships ever. would start in their sixth year and there would be a few major time jumps over the course of the story. very soft relationship. 

Peter Parker (MCU) - oc has powers over the elements. recruited to the avengers by tony stark. in the process of said transition, hydra attacks her family and oc is filled with rage. throughout the story, she lives with different members of the avengers (she moves around a lot) and she and peter have a friends to lovers sort of thing.

Daniel Desario (Freaks and Geeks) - charlotte’s been friends with the freaks since she was a kid. she’s been on-again-off-again dating nick since middle school, she has mixed feelings about kim, ken is her favorite person ever, and she is hopelessly in love with Daniel. when lindsay comes into the picture and things shift dramatically, charlotte finally has the chance to shoot her shot. 

Spencer Reid (Criminal Minds) - word for word what I have in my drafts:

ummmmm so we've got a main character named ummmmmm sophie or phoebe or something and shes like blonde and short and only three months older than reid and sup super smart like with math and science and stuff and she graduated early and has a doctorate and is smart and stuff but doesnt really tell anyone and looks kinda sloppy and has a really relaxed attitude and we love her - she almost dropped out of high school because she was bored but then agent gideon was like dude come on ill give u a job (or something?)

oh and her parents and little brother died in a fire when she was eight only her older brother survived and they are super close she loves him so much but she has some trauma from constantly being sent to foster homes where nodbody wanted to keep her bc shes difficult and also like watching her parents die so she has a HUGE fear of fire and an irrational fear of big dogs

ANYWAYS starts off with her at her house and she's just hangin she has a cat and she's making herself dinner and she's one of those super cute single bi girls who likes her plants and her music and her science bookstore

friends in college story (an original work) - okay so I wanna go to film school (I want to be a screenwriter) and this is an original script I’ve been working on but I might adapt parts of it to a story. basically it’s like a dark academia sitcom where a bunch of liberal, progressive kids go to this rural, ultra-christian college for different reasons and find each other and become the ELITE friend group. obviously it would have a better name than the “friends in college story” although now it’s sort of growing on me

the new tragedy (an original work) - “sometimes i need to remind myself that you existed. You were real, you were so real. your hair was real, your crooked smile was real. the way you couldnt talk in the morning before you’d had your coffee, or how you could never get to sleep at night without an episode of whatever show you were obsessing over in the moment. oh my god. you were real. 

she looked like death. the guy, not the concept. sallow skin and dark, sunken eyes that absorbed all of the light and trapped it, holding it hostage and never letting it out. when she smiled, the light poured all over her, like she was taking a shower in it. when she frowned, she looked like a storm cloud. I loved her. I loved her so much.

THIRST AID KIT | S4E03 | FORGIVE US, FATHER

Here’s the thing — we have been in-un-da-ted with all sorts of messages, tweets, tags etc asking us if we were we thought about Fleabag’s Hot Priest. Even before we announced we were coming back, thirst-buckets parked themselves in our Twitter mentions and this here humble Tumblr Ask box and just. kept. asking. if we were going to cover him.

Come. The. Fuck. On.

Anyway. It’s time.

We decided not only to lust out loud about Hot Priest (Andrew Scott), but to also take a look at another man of the cloth who was making things a little bit cloudy in the foof: Sexy Vicar aka crime solvin’ crimes, heart breakin’ and smokey jazz listenin’ Sidney Chambers (James Norton) from Grantchester. Look at this shit, FFS:

Bitch.

So! Time to peel back some cassocks and reveal the beating heart of what makes these clergy dudes so flippin’ attractive. 

Here are some thoughts:

These muhfuggahs LISTEN. Not just to the women they love, but to women in general. Do you know how hot it is when your person looks at you and actually absorbs what you are saying and responds in kind? Ugh. PS: After we recorded this ep, Fleabag creator and star Phoebe Waller-Bridge hosted Saturday Night Live and in her monologue mentioned how Hot Priest’s listening skills were the hottest thing about him (see what we mean when we say we are thirst scholars? 🏆)

Um, they’re literally off-limits. And like, practically betrothed to God (in Hot Priest’s case). Nothing — absolutely nothing — hotter.

Kindness kink! A kind man — whether he be tortured or a little cocksure — is hot as hell, OK?

Both Sidney and Hot Priest see the women they love. Like, they have a laser focus that is incredibly alluring when viewed up close. Oh, to be the focus of their loving gazes! 

God loves a well-dressed man, and these men wear thee fuck out of both their churchy garments, and also their regular clothes. 

Hot Priest — does he have a drinking problem? Or nah? Sidney definitely has one. It does... something to us.

In Sidney’s case — he loves a bit of jazz, and in postwar Britain, is not averse to a little sexual indiscretion. We’ll take it! 

These dudes are wrestling with some big existential crises, you know? They’re doing a lot of drinking and they’re pondering their allegiance to God and the institution they have committed to, and it’s because of the love of a good woman. Are you KIDDING me? Guys... ISSA WRAP!

There’s a lot to love, you see, and even more to thirst after, and we delved as deep as we could go in our allotted time to bring you all those nuances...

Plus! We had a little time to do a litle rundown of other sexy clergyfolk of our youth — and beyond. Folks like the dude out of The Thorn Birds; that one time Lee Pace dressed as a priest in Pushing Daisies (💦); lady church folk like Pastor Grace from Greenleaf, and Geraldine from The Vicar of Dibley. We also did a corker edition fanfic Wars, by turns steamy hot and softly sweet. We hope you love it!

On the Road to Windcrest

Getting request from Greenleaf:

Leaving off where Wittr and Sage left the guard post after reporting the murder of the woman on the beach and describing the Oni-kin, the girls also let them know that we saw them at the Wilted Rose.

After the girls leave the guard post, Wittr wants to stop by the guild hall and visit Brolyn and Sage wanted to go over to the Greenleaf guild (the Apothecary guild).

At one point Sage multiclassed so she is now a Rouge Druid and she wanted to get a like anything that would help her use her new druid powers in a fight. The Head of the guild that also helped her awaken her druid powers Elara Greenleaf told Sage if she is willing to a job, she would throw in a book of spells for her to learn.

Elara wanted Sage to go over Windcrest forest and collect spider silk and 1 blue poison sider egg sack, Sage agreed and managed to get some bottle of antidote for this for free. Sage tells Wittr about the mission and this works for Wittr.

(Before we started the campaign, the DM gave the players two legends each that we could go and look for in Giantra. Sages’ legends were and Oasis that would give dreams of the future, but the meanings are very confusing to interpret, the second was an hourglass that placed on a book the holder would gain the knowledge of that book. (Sage really wants that, and she has been investigating it, but the hourglass is not in Havenport). Wittr legend (I can only remember one) is in a forest there is a satyr that has a magic teapot, he would give crazy parties and people seldom wanted to leave.)

Wittr wanted to investigate the forest and we could easily do that and look for Greenleaf’s stuff as well. Sage then gets the idea should we go and see if Selena wanted anything from the forest, since the forest was a fair distance away and the girls wanted to stop by Selena’s shop to see if there was anything that would give the girls an edge in a fight.

Sage and Wittr head over to the Night’s hook and tell Selena about the job, but then Sage sees one item she wanted just as much as the hourglass…. a bag of holding. Sage starts haggling offering a trade since both Wittr and herself were heading over to Windcrest forest is there anything that Selena wanted?

Selena agrees to this and asks for 6 spider fangs, Selena then starts asking who gave us the job, to which the girls responded Elara Greenleaf, which Selena looked annoyed with hearing. Sage inquires what was the problem Elara, to which Selena said they have different viewpoints on magic and potions.

The Girls bid Selena goodbye and leaves the Night’s Hook.

On the open road:

After gathering any more supplies for the trip, the girls started to head out, but then they hear the town crier saying 3 kids have gone missing. Now Sage sense a mystery and ask Wittr if they could make a pit stop by the guard station.

The desk sergeant explains that 3 kids have gone missing and child #3 was kidnapped right out of her bedroom. Sage thanks the Sargent and goes outside with Wittr, they both agree when they came back, they would be looking into the missing person cases.

So, leaving Havenport is about a 1 day and 1/2 travel to the town of Windcrest, so at one point the girls had to set up camp. Sage volunteers to take the first watch, (side note: ever since Owain got into that fight with a crab Sage has seen him lifting a rock with his tongue. Sage understands that he was upset about his fight with the crab and the fight with the Uggoes so he wanted to be stronger for Sage.).

Sage sees Owain working out and she talks to Owain about the fights (Sage wanted to awaken Owain or get him to learn magic or fight with a sling shot, yes, the player has been inspired by Amphibia.) Sage understands that she may have too many plans for Owain and agrees to let Owain do his own thing, but she still wants Owain to learn how to defend himself.

Throughout her watch there was one “encounter” where Sage did see someone on the road that looked at the campsite, but they continued. The night went on and then it was Wittr turned on watch. Nothing happens and day breaks.

The girls made it to Windcrest, they talked to a few people and a rude guard tells them that the forest is somewhere people shouldn’t go into, the town is having problems with animals going missing.

The girls continued to the edge of the forest, where they saw a group of people at the forest entrance, they looked like they were heading when the girls stopped and asked what was wrong.

 The villagers at the edge of the forest are farmers that were planning to head on it to look for their missing farm animals. Since the girls were going into the forest, they told them they would try to look for any signs of the animals and let them know.

Before heading into the forest Wittr sensed something eternal in the forest, which put her on alert. Wittr tells Ohava to stay behind not wanting her to get hurt.

Into the forest: (a lot of stuff happen and I can’t remember what order it happen but I’ll give it a try to keep it straight.)

The girls head on into the forest and start looking for any signs of spiders, satyr, or the farm animals. After a while they come across signs of herbs and Sage starts collecting herbs here and there. They come across the Tree of Whispers, and they see a black pool of water at the base of the tree. Also, they see a skeleton of an adventure they go over and see the body is holding a key, Sage takes the key and shows Wittr. (I think the girls looked around the tree and saw a clue that hinted to a key?)

Sage takes a sample of the water and they both look around the tree but seeing nothing. They try dunking the key in the water, but nothing happens, they get idea that one of them will dunk their head in the water. First Wittr dunks her head, and she then sees her monastery in ruins. It was the night of the attack she saw fire and the dead body of her friends.

Sage has been timing Wittr and when Sage sees Wittr in distress she pulls Wittr out before she was pulled out of the water Wittr hears the voice say, “Not Worthy”. Wittr explains what she saw and needs some time to recover so Sage takes her turn in the pool.

Owain is also on standby.

Sage dunks her head in the water and she sees the gallows the moment when Urghat drops, that one moment repeats over and over the sound of rope snapping, Sage is feeling the dread of failing her mentor. Sage tries to calm herself but it’s not working.

At this point both Wittr and Owain pulls Sage of the water, but same as Wittr Sage hears a voice, “Not Worthy.” Sage needs a minute. Wittr thinks we are on to something, so Wittr steps up to the pool and same thing as before dunks her head, but she is also holding the key, she sees her monastery and the ruins, but she rolled a will save a succeeds and she see a creature staring back surrounded by the bodies of her family. Then she hears the same voice from before “Worthy”.

The puddle dries up and the key is different now, Sage was a little upset, she was hoping to dunk her head in the water and see if she could gleam anything from the scene she saw. But it was no big deal. They leave the clearing and continuing into the forest.

But then the girls come across a cave with a big ugly monster stabbing a dead animal. Wittr and Sage (I think this how this encounter went) pulls out their cross bows takes aim and nails the creature; it didn’t kill the creature, so Sage runs up and (with a really high roll) manages to kill the monster but cutting the head off.

Both girls observed the creature and decided to take it large pincers claws Sage takes a small on the idea of having a spare dagger like blade, while Wittr did the same but took the larger claw.

The girls looked at entrance to the web cave, Sage goes ahead and starts collecting the spider silk and so does Wittr. The girls proceeded into the cave its dark but since both girls have dark vision, they walked into the cave after wall the girls feel that the floor was different and when they look down, they see a lot of spider sacks on the ground which they were breaking open and the baby spiders started crawling over the girls. After a while they took the spider off and continued.

The girls found a large room with several big spiders and a lot more egg sacks. With much planning the girls agree that they would take some of the Molotov cocktails and huck it at the spider in the middle of the room. Wittr threw it and it nails it and makes the spider drop and started spazzing out, but this also make the other spider aware of the girl’s location.

The fight was long which for the most part Sage gets webbed up on two different occasions and Wittr dealing with 2 of the spiders and when Sage wasn’t webbed up, she did help weaking some of the spiders. But 2 fled the room before we could do anything.

Once the fight was over the girls explored the room and found a side room that led to a makeshift campsite with a chest, a fire pit and a bed.

Sage heads over to the chest and dodging a booby trap get the chest open, most of the stuff inside was junk but the girls found a totem of Lolth the spider god(/queen?) Sage takes the totem and the girls set the room on fire.

In leaving the room Sage hears whispers, but couldn’t make out what the whisper were saying, they go back to the main room to see a big blue spider staring at them. The spider speaks to Sage (telepathic), the spider was telling the girls to leave, but the girls knowing from the spiders are not native to the forest and is damaging the ecosystem they tell the spider they won’t do that. Sage lights up an arrow and shoots the spider but the spider vanishes.

Sage and Wittr headed back up to the room they lit on fire and grab some torches and went back down to the cave proper and start lighting the egg sacks on fire. They then turn to leave the cave.

Working on the Key:

So, the girls are trying to figure out what to do with the key, then they see a light source and they decided to approach with caution. They see wagons and tents and long tables and a satyr. Wittr was excited seeing this must be the satyr from the legend she heard about.

Now this satyr did not look well, tired looking a bit wild. The girls greet the Satyr, Sage, understanding that this creature is of the fae she only gave her last name, Wittr kicking herself after she introduce herself by her first name.

The satyr introduces himself as Prince Palenor (yeah through his whole time that we known him we called him “Princey”.) He explains that the forest is cursed, and he never stay in the same place for long, he pulls out a black tea pot and pour tea which gives us a buffet of food and drinks and he invites the girls to dine with him.

While enjoying his hospitality the girls tell him about the Tree of Whispers and the key which he seems to know about but couldn’t figure out the riddles that went with it. Wittr also asks about the celestial entity that she sense, Princey tells the girls that he has seen a glowing orb going around the forest.

Princey also tells the other two riddles of so they ask if they could leave some of their stuff with him and if they could bunk in his camp for the night. However, they wanted to solve the next key riddle.

(Skipping a little bit)

The girls solve the riddles, and they meet the orb, they too are a fae, they are trying to get rid of the curse that is plaguing the forest. Both girls agree to help, which pleases the orb, and they teleport the girls in a different area they see a box and they use the key to open the box and they see a heart. The orb asks to the girls to give it to them, so they did.

The forest has been cured.

The girls head back to Princey and explain what happen which they see Princey is looking way better, he makes the decision that he is going back to the Fae world but before he goes, he gives Wittr the tea pot of the legends and teaches her how to take care of it.

(The teapot once per day can create a feast that will gives players bonus hit points.)

Sage has been thinking about the order for blue egg sack, so the idea was that they head back to town gather a posse and go and take out the spiders.

As the girls approach the edge of the forest the DM describes Ohava bonding up to Wittr cover in Soot. Sage takes note of the soot and Wittr making sure that Ohava was not hurt. They hurried out of the forest to see Windcrest in shambles of dead bodies, fires, and webbing.

The girls knew this was their fault and they started to plan to fix it.

Greenleaf is a trendy little gastropub made with kale-crunching young conservationists in mind. I picture it as a charming vegan spot for locals to meet up for some cruelty-free coffee and a cram session. Use it as you like!
