Grian is the God of War. In front of everyone else, he's stoic and stone-faced. In front of the Goddess of Peace, Stress, he's a blushy mess of a man who is weak to smooches and a gentle hand in his hair.
Most scripture describes the two as hating each other, and they laugh about it all the time. People love their stories, and it's an easy one to tell.
But they're both head over heels about each other! Godhood is just a job, and it's a lot better for them to work together than against one another. Plus a bit of friendly competition helps keep things in balance. The faster they work, the more time they get for cuddling.

Very specific Christmas shout-out to Cincinnati 🤣!
For the longest time, I thought I’d imagined this movie in some childhood fever dream; Keanu Reeves and Drew Barrymore singing about Cincinnati. A bowling ball filled with Nosferatu-looking goons that rolls down the street, with Richard Mulligan playing a villain in a Victorian looking bird hat. Jill Schoelen in a plush seashell wedding veil with bells. Mr. Miyagi as a toymaker.
Oh, it’s real. Gloriously so, 80’s style 🤣. “Babes in Toyland” (1986).

Fat Actor Googy Gress. (1 of 2)
Googy Gress has 80 credits according to IMDb. Some of these are voice credits.
PHOTOS
Googy Gress, circa 2000
His first film was The First Turn On!! in 1983, an independent film in which he was featured and was naked for a time. He was one of the main characters in this film.
- 11. His next film where his name is included in the Beginning Credits is the 1986 TV Movie Babes in Toyland with Drew Barrymore and Keanu Reeves. I am not sure if he was padded in the belly for this or not. Other films in this time period suggest he weighed less. Photo 7 looks like he caught Keanu checking out his butt. A lot of butt pictures after that. I don't think that was padded.
12. - 13. Promised Land in 1987 with Kiefer Sutherland and Meg Ryan was next.
14. - 15. Vibes in 1988 with Cyndi Lauper and Jeff Goldblum. His name was included on the poster for the movie in which I call 2nd tier. 1st tier is the Star or Stars. Their names are either over the title or in a larger font, often both. 2nd tier comes next, sometimes followed by a 3rd tier.
16. The next photo I have is from Apollo 13. He was also in Wayne's World 2 (tiny role) and The American President during this time.
17. In 1996 he appeared, for the first time in episodic TV, in an episode of Frasier (3;14) where former fiancee Diane Chambers visits him and presents a play she has written which is very familiar to Frasier. Googy plays Ned in the play, who is essentially Norm.
17. In 1997 he appeared in ER (4;1) where he projectile vomits on Dr. Noah Wyle.
18. Later in 1997, he appeared on The Practice (2;13), as a complainant asking if he has a case against his female dentist who he says felt him up as he was going under sedation.
19. In 1998 he was in Armageddon as a NASA Tech.
20, In 1999 he was in Blue Streak with Martin Lawrence as a Desk Sergeant who could be bribed with pizza. Googy was also a regular character on TV series G vs E (no photo) in this year. He appeared in all 22 episodes.
21. Later in 1999 he played The Overlooker, an alien, along with other fat actor Jay Leggett in Star Trek: Voyager, both were heavily made up and unrecognizable in rubber masks.
22. In 2000, he played a small part in Me, Myself and Irene with Jim Carrey.
23. - 26. My favorite photos of the group. In 2001, he appeared in an episode of Dharma & Greg (4;13) with fellow chub Jim O'Heir. I hope there was an afterparty when the show rapped. Or maybe it was private.
27. 28. Final photos, 2002, NYPD Blue (10;5) he plays a small role as Requisition Manager(?) for the precinct.

Stress is used to the supernatural. She's had ghosts in her basement, weird shadow people in her hallway, a poltergeist on a more memorable time.
That is to say, when some weird bird-goat-man named Grian appears in the corner of her room, watching from the top of her dresser while she sleeps (tries), she just sighs and asks what he wants.
He looks silly up there, thrice her size yet balanced on hooved feet and sharp talons. He looks at like a Halloween decoration, the only reason she knows he isn't is because:
She doesn't buy decorations for Halloween during fucking April.
Halloween decorations don't breathe and puff up.
She calls out again, because she wants to sleep without the feeling of a freaky thing watching her, and because she doesn't want to wake up to all her meat being gone.
She asks again, and this time he shifts uncomfortably, blinking his honey gold eyes at her.
He makes a weird sound, a cross between a grunt and a whine.
"...lonely. Cold. Sleepy." He speaks with an odd voice, distorted and warped.
Stress stares at him. He doesn't feel dangerous, and she would trust her own judgement on that. She's tired, and it seems he is too.
After a few more minutes of staring, she opens her big, fluffy blanket and pats the side of the bed.
"Get cozy, and if you wake me up, I'm gonna banish you from me 'ouse!"
He moves slowly, hopping down silently and nervously creeping closer to her.
He curls into her side, resting his heads across her chest. She scratches at his chin, being lulled back to sleep by his rumbling purr and body heat.
She wakes up to him wrapping all 4 of his arms and all 6 of his wings around her, snuggling into her like she's a plushie.
She sighs deeply, because she knows she can't kick him out.
She does consider getting him his own nest, but each night he appears sadly at her bed until she lifts the covers for him to crawl in next to her. It's become second nature. She's not even awake when she does it half the time.
He's not there every single night (and she totally doesn't miss him when he isn't there.) She's noticed a lot less strange happenings around her house since Grian started appearing, though. She's not sure what to think of it, but she won't turn her nose up at a good thing.
Her attempts to research what Grian may be have so far failed. She's accepted he's just... Him. Whatever that may be. His conversational skills have improved since she met him, and she enjoys the conversations they have. Anything about what he is, though, is carefully stepped around for him to talk about a cool building he saw (again.)
So, he's just her weird creature now. She doesn't mind it.

I just finished this book and plan to restart it next week and do a much deeper dive. But all I can say is that you need to read this book. If you are at all concerned about our culture, homes, children, and men, read this book. Husbands and fathers read this book. Wives and mothers read this book. Everyone drop everything and read this book.
Young men are puttin' themselves six feet in the ground
'Cause all this damn country does is keep on kickin' them down
And it's not just young men, but young women also.
