A gorgeous Roasted Pork Leg with cracking skin greeted me at Windjammer Marketplace. Needless to say, I grabbed a couple of pieces onto my plate. Crispy hash brown, greasy bacons and tough hotdogs. Guess which one of the three I picked? I love them eggs but not if the yolks don’t jiggle.

personally, i only found one recipe in here to try out, but i loved the general tips on cooking to achieve particular colors, tastes, or textures. there’s worksheets for figuring out your aversions that can also be used as communication aids for nonverbal ppl.
recipes all have their colors, tastes, and textures labeled right up top, so you know if it suits your needs right away. the author is autistic and has an extremely nonjudgmental way of writing about picky eating.

The unpleasant odour forced us back into the ship’s interior, just in time for breakfast at the Main Dining Room. Was rather surprised that we were the first in the queue. Guessed the rest went with the all-you-can-eat buffet at Windjammer Marketplace. The waiter recommended their Danish pastries and croissants, so we got a plate of it. Pretty decent tasting if you asked me, will be better if warmed up first. Colleague had the Seasonal Fruit Plate and The Classic Benedict – two poached eggs, bacons and creamy hollandaise sauce on toasted English muffins.

Me, I opted for the Express Breakfast with two glossy scrambled eggs, not crispy at all bacons, very tough smoked sausage links, crispy hash brown and half a grilled tomato. Other than the bacons and sausages, I enjoyed the other three items.

Roommate wanted to go Windjammer Marketplace for the Milk and Yogurt. I had the peach flavoured yogurt and it tasted horrible, nothing like the fruit at all. Gotten the same answer from my colleague too. Pineapple one fared a little better but it won’t topple Meji yogurt from my list.

Tea Leaf Egg or Tea Egg (茶叶蛋) wasn’t prepared the correct way. Putting the whole eggs intact in the tea leaves soup did almost nothing for the eggs. The correct method is to boil the eggs first in water then crack the shell and boil/soak them in tea. Cracks in the shell allows the tea mixture to seep in creating the marble-like patterns and imparting the flavours. Sorry, I didn’t show you the deshelled egg as the shell was stuck to the egg white so there were many holes and “craters” trying to peel it. :(

Grilled Tomato and Peppers (Vegan)

These gorgeously charred Grilled Tomato and Peppers, fragrant with Provençal flavours make an delicious side to grilled meat or fish, but can also be enjoyed on their own and are thus suitable for your vegan friends. Happy Monday!
Ingredidents (serves 2):
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon dried rosemary
1/2 teaspoon fleur de sel or sea salt flakes
1/2 freshly cracked black pepper
2 tablespoons olive oil
4 mini bell peppers
1 large, not-too-ripe tomato
In a shallow plate, combine dried oregano, dried rosemary, fleur de sel and black pepper. Give a good stir to mix, then stir in olive oil until well-blended. 
Thoroughly rinse mini bell peppers and tomato, then pat them dry. With a sharp knife, pierce bell peppers in several places. Cut tomato in half.
Place bell peppers and tomato halves in the plate, and gently toss into the herb oil, rubbing it into the vegetables. 
Make sure tomato halves are cut-side up, cover with a lid or cling film, and allow to marinate, at room temperature for about an hour.
Prepare barbecue: half an hour before grilling, arrange a layer of coals in the barbecue. Top with a few small branches of dry wood (applewood or fir give a good taste), and light.
Place bell peppers onto skewers (if using wooden skewers, soak them into water for one hour before putting on the barbecue).
Wait for the flames to die down, and place the bell peppers skewers and tomato halves on the grill over the red embers. Grill, about 3 minutes on each side, until nicely charred and grilled.
Serve Grilled Tomato and Peppers hot with Grilled Zucchini.
