"What are you talking about?" you whispered, your eyes darting across her face and landing on his mouth. His teeth were grit together as he seethed in front of you, and that's when you saw them.

He saw the recognition in your eyes and frowned. He let you go, and you noticed his hands trembling as he stepped away from you.

"There, now you know." he muttered. "The monster I am. Why I disappear in the mornings.

"Why do you look like that?" you asked quietly.

And just as quickly as it started, it was over. The bed dipped next to you, and after the sound of liquid sloshing in a bottle, you felt something cold and stinging against your neck.

"See?" you rasped quietly, giving Josh a soft smile. "I'm still alive." He was already looking healthier, color returning to his cheeks as they seemed to fill back out in live time.

"What you did, what we both did, was stupid and reckless." Josh shook his head, tearing open a packet and placing a bandage over your wound.
