out of curiosity what is your ranking of Buffyverse seasons?

Oh! That's a good question. It's been a while since I saw both shows so maybe it'd change if I rewatched but I think at the moment it goes:

btvs: season 2, season 3, season 1, season 6, season 5, season 4, season 7.

I used to have season 4 as my least fave and I still find it really boring and I dislike everything about its main storyline BUT I think season 7 is more damaging for basically making buffy a supporting character in her abuser's story.

I really love s1 and I find s5 really boring for the most part, hence their places in this ranking. S6 has some interesting ideas and I really like some episodes, so I put it before s5.

ats: season 3, season 1, season 2, season 4, season 5.

This is really hard bc while I do like some moments and messages in the show, it's so inconsistent it barely has one good season. Season 3 is my absolute favorite and s1 is probably the most consistently good season in the show, so they're definitely my first picks. There's a big gap between them and the rest to me.

I find s2 really overrated, I don't care about the darla storyline and how the show handles it. I also really really really dislike dark avenger angel. There's a good message there but the execution is not appealing to me in the slightest. But it has one of my favorite eps of the show, are you now or have you ever been.

S4 is a big mess and there's a lot of bad decicions, some really gross (connor and cordelia) and really stupid (angelus) plotpoints and the disgusting treatment of some characters but it is kind of an entertaining mess? S5 had a very promissing start but its last run of episodes makes me so mad in a way s4 doesn't.

i didn’t... REALLY expect kawoshin to happen, i didn’t think they’d be that brave about it. same with the mari and asuka homoerotic moments, that felt a lot like fanservice, especially during the scenes where it played out. but the fact that we got literally an entire movie dedicated to kaworu and shinji’s relationship, then its sequel literally confirming the time looping kaworu theory, only for it to be written off as kaworu chasing his own happiness and shinji seeing kaworu as a father figure... and for shinji to wind up with none of the characters (asuka, kaworu, or even rei) that he’s formed a major emotional connection with across the four films and the entire anime series, but the girl he’s spoken to maybe two or three times in some self-insert fantasy of anno and his wife... idk, i think i can be a little bit irritated about that being the ending to this over-a-decade long saga
