Together they encounter human rights activists (not what you think), overly attached exes, vampire geeks, quarrelsome shapeshifters, some really chill people, and a boy band. Let's Go For A Pint is a satire/genre parody revolving around tropes associated with vampire fiction (mostly tv and film portrayals but written works may be alluded) Season 1 is up. Paladin in the Order of Afodisia and paragon of knighthood, Aurianna wages war on the demons who seek to subjugate mankind. Her mentor, Matthias, would be proud -if he hadn't sacrificed himself to save her from an infernal trap over a decade ago. In a fate worse than death, his soul was ripped from his body and replaced with a devil. Now he slaughters his former allies, bringing glory to his master, the Lord of Lust. Driven to put an end to Matthias' reign of terror, and tortured existence as a soulless monster, she seeks him out on the battlefield.

Matthias, with greater strength and no conscience, defeats and captures Aurianna, intending to offer her to his master's dark hunger. Facing the same torture Matthias succumbed to, Aurianna fears she will also suffer his fate. That is, until something breaks in Matthias, and he carves up the fiend defiling her. Now the former master and student must work together to escape the demon's keep and make it back to the safety.

Once they arrive, Matthias has a decade's worth of crimes to answer for, and the weight of Aurianna's torment isn't so easily shed. Festering within her mind, her trauma puts her soul at risk. If Matthias can help heal the wounds within her soul, perhaps he can find atonement. But if she can't save him, and correct her biggest regret, she too could fall from grace.

My Review:

Worked for me: Their relationship is really sweet. The banter between them is charming, their little games with each other, the sensual passion between them, it’s all great. Your use of imagery and metaphor is really clever and unique, shying away from clichés to find new ways to express familiar feeling and situations.

Also, your grammar is super clean, with few to no errors in any of the parts I read. I don’t know if you edited your own work, or used an editor, but if you did it yourself, well done. It is often difficult for a writer to step back from their own writing to objectively find and fix all the errors.

Needs work: Okay, so do you know why people love to get into heated arguments on Facebook? Humans, in general, love drama. Crave drama, tension, conflict. Now, on Facebook, many people use it to cultivate an image of a perfect life. Always posting pictures of their beautiful family, writing romantic posts to their significant other, updating their status with #blessed.

But this isn’t reality, at least, not the full reality. Real people struggle. Even great couples fight, get bored with each other, annoy one another, etc. The conflict doesn’t even have to come from their relationship. Money is a common enough source of tension for many people. Death in the family, or a break up of another close couple. The moments where Beau and Ladylove come together to support one another would be even stronger if you took the time to show us their struggles and overcoming their problems with the power of their love.

Your pacing is also fairly slow, compounding the lack of tension in the piece. Your piece is bursting with description, but some of it is overwritten. Paring it down 10-20% would go a great deal towards making your narrative snap and sizzle.

Overall: 6/10 A series of cute and sensuous scenes, but lacking in an overarching narrative.
