Am I the only one that likes Gavin type of character? Like, the Gavin from the game not changing anything but adding more to his antagonistic character?

No stupid android romantical interests to fuck with his character or wack redemption arcs with silly headcanons, just...character exploration and high % assumptions like social and very political ones (if u know what i mean). It's something that was more explicit in the game originally but they had to tone it down.

Perkins was also a character with a huge potential but they cut lotta stuff bout him. I really wouldn't change anything about him or try redemption arcs, only add - cuz much like Gavin there's nothing to redeem for. They do what they think is right, they ain't looking for a change.

Believe me I still wondering if those rumors are correct and Curtis was Connor's first partner (like Jayden and Blake parallel from Heavy Rain), same way Connor had a cooperation with Perkins to hunt more deviants and later neutralizing the leader.

i remember years ago when a gaming group I didn’t really watch disbanded. i remember thinking at the time “I wonder if achievement hunter will ever end”. It was my worst nightmare.

And here we are. Here we finally are.

I’ve kept my distance from ah since last year when a lot of things got dug up from the past. And I’m not going to sit here now and pretend those skeletons didn’t and still do exist. Nor will I ignore the harm they caused.

But as ah said “you can do better”, and thankfully from their current/former now? employees’ point of views, it seems like they did by the end. Even if that can’t undo their past mistakes.

But no matter what, I still can’t overstate the importance this group had on me. I found ah in middle school from a random tumblr post and it quickly became my biggest support. I struggled in middle/high school from being heavily introverted and struggling with anxiety.

But all I’d have to remember was that there was going to be Minecraft on fridays. VS on tuesdays. GTA on mondays. As embarrassing as it sounds, it really kept me going.

There was a long stretch of my life where I didn’t go a single day without watching some form of their content.

I remember so vividly having one of the worst days of my life as a 14 year old, crying my eyes out and thinking the world was going to end. Then the rainbow 6 let’s play of jack laughing at Gavin throwing a grenade at himself came out: Suddenly I was crying of laughter. Their content did that for me when nothing else could.

And I have hundreds of memories just like that.

It goes without saying there’s been a lot of downs as an achievement hunter fan. And honestly I don’t even want to go into detail because we all know some of the worst.

But to grow from a 13 year old to a 24 year old through their content, I can’t not at least recognize something that had such an effect on me for almost half of my life.

A part of me is surprised I am so sad by the news considering how long it has seemingly been on the horizon. But I also can’t wipe their importance from my life. And though I rarely watched their content over the last year, still knowing it is gone hurts.

So I have handled this like any normal person would, i bought the piece of retired merch I never was able to get off eBay to remember them by, and wrote this way too wordy and sentimental post.

And with that, thanks for a lot achievement hunter. 💚🖤

this is like a deep cut from an old fandom so bear with me.

Man I was scrolling through all the old Achievement Hunter posts. I have stuff going backto like 2012 and even before that. God listening to old audios and videos and looking at old gif sets…

They were everything to me. Michael, Gavin, Geoff, Jack, Ray, and even (yes I’m going to mention him) Ryan. There was Lindsay and Matt Jeremy and Kdin and Adam Ellis. Trevor and Caleb.

The first Vs episode. The first Play Pals. Lazer Team. X-ray and Vav. RWBY. RvB.

There’s so many let’s plays that I rewatch a couple times of year. Play Pals Outlast (1&2). Play pals Super Bunny Man. Let’s play 3d Ultra Minigolf. Let’s Play Family Feud. Uno the Movie. All of the rage quits.

But I forgot how much they were like a family. They genuinely have a shit about each other. Even beyond the Gavin/Michael bromance they all cared so much. And it all went to shit because of Ryan.

I don’t fully believe they would have stayed golden forever even without the incident. They would haves faded just like they are now. Hell Achievement Hunter doesn’t even exsist anymore. It’s been announced that’s it officially retired and they started a new channel.

I watched it live and die. Ray left, and Geoff pulled way back to personal issues. The Ryan incident. Jeremy leaving for personal issues. Gavin pulling wayyyy back (I’m not even sure he’s still involved in any capacity anymore.) Matt being fired (which was bullshit and I’ll die on that hill). Jack is still there.

The amount of shows they started and cancelled. Always open got cancelled again just a couple of days ago. They can’t hold an audience anymore. It makes me sad. Their old videos have 2+ million views on individual videos. Now you’re hard pressed to find one break 100k.

Like idk. Nostalagia is a bitch I guess. To me, they’re stilling in that shitty office with their desks on top of each other. Michael is yelling at Gavin, Gavin is making the loudest bird squawking noise you’ve ever heard, Jack is affectionate laughing while working, Geoff is laughing hysterically in a corner about to piss his pants, Ray is trying to get away from the carnage while also film them, and Ryan is laughing in the doorway wondering what he just walked in on.

I don’t man I wish it was 2014 and they’re was a new Minecraft LP and GTA LP to look forward to every week.

What’s weird to me is that even if Connor did “kill” Gavin, the game is a series of multiple choices.

That means that even if all of these choices exist, doesn’t mean that they are canon.

Ex. Hank can be killed. Does that mean that he is “canonly” dead? Same goes with Markus, Kara, Alice, Carl, Simon, North, Josh, Todd etc etc you get the point.

GTA 5 is a great example. There’s endings where two of the protagonists can die but it shows in future dlc that they are alive and well because while those endings exist, that doesn’t mean that they are canon.

Same with dbh. Just because a character can die, doesn’t mean that it is canon. It’s just a feature added to make the game more complex and interesting.

Yeah, Connor can kill Gavin. But if you don’t draw attention to yourself, as Connor should not be doing considering that he is doing something illegal and against direct orders, that option is never made accessible, ergo, no dead Gavin.

I stumbled upon a random LP almost 10 years ago. At the time I was deeply depressed and had barely any friends. From there I started watching Minecraft and GTA and fell more and more in love with AH the more I watched. And then I discovered RT as a whole. RT Podcast, Immersion, Million Dollars, but, On the Spot, Free Play and many more projects. Suddenly I had something to watch and comfort me every single week if not day. I watched the RT Podcast live for years, watched every LP as soon as I could so I could have something to laugh about every day. I watched some of these people grow into amazing human beings. If I think about how people like Gavin and Michael were at the beginning to now I get so emotional.

Watching Geoff overcome his alcohol addiction, seing AH members and others building families, grow beyond the company, seeing the love those silly people that you watch have for each other used to and still does make me so happy. I used to have Minecraft & 7 Days to die LPS going in the background all the time because their voices were comforting to me. There literally wasn't a single day where I didn't consume RT's content in some shape or form. And then there was the RH situation. Suddenly everything I watched felt tainted by his influence. Everything that used to comfort me suddenly didn't anymore. And for a while I tried to keep watching AH because other than RH I admire everyone so, so much. But with Geoff taking a backseat, Gavin not appearing as much, Fiona & Jeremy leaving I just lost interest. And with my other favorite shows gone (or changed) like RT Podcast, On the Spot, Free Play etc. I stopped watching RT comepletely.

But with the news of Rooster teeth shutting down I'm suddenly reminded of all the good times that were had. During the times I watched AH I was probably the most creative when it comes to making gifs and such. I watched a random Coup LP yesterday and I laughed my ass of. And then I watched the stream they did earlier today and I cried my fucking eyes out. If you knew me, you would know that I do not cry that often and definitely not over a span of an hour. Seeing people that I admire and respect so much like Barbara, Trevor, Geoff, Jack, Jessica, Kerry, Chris and others tear up talking about how much they all love each other and gonna miss spending every day together really just reminded me why I fell in love with the company. Because in the days before Full Screen and Warner Bros etc. Rooster teeth never really felt like a company to me, it felt like a family. And even if I haven't watched any of the recent stuff they made I still feel so upset for them. And I honestly just wanna say thank you to everyone who ever worked at RT for making so much (mostly) free content for us to consume and love. I wish every single one of you all the the best and hope to be able to support everyone the best I can in the future.

PS. I wanna give a special thanks to everyone behind the scenes who kept all the shows I watched going. Production, Broacast etc.. PPS. While I do admire everyone at the company I wanna especially thank all of the AH members for making me laugh so many fucking times. I also wanna thank all the founders for creating this beautiful company in the first place. I could name so many more people but this post is long enough as it is. Thank you for reading.

YOU WATCH ROOSTER TEETH?

I can't say I've watched any recent stuff, but I used to watch loads of Red vs. Blue, especially when it first came out (I was like, 6 when they made the first episode!!! That's almost 20 years ago, that's so crazy.)

And then from time to time I binge the AH minecraft series. I'm on episode 195 right now. I've also watched some of their GTA plays. Oh, and Michael & Gavin's Surgeon Simulator episodes!

As for everything else, I'm not really well-versed in it.

So... yes. Kinda!!!

Not sure if this is more true for umich than other college programs but I swear hockey is so small that (almost) everyone is more or less connected to each other before they even start the season

... like aside from the NTDP guys and sibling connections, NIck and Luca played for Chicago at the same time (and are both from the GTA) , Josh O. and Kienan played together at SAC (an Ontario private school) and in the BCHL, Josh E. played iwith Mark, Johnny and Gavin (x2) in the USHL.

And I got bored searching Elite Prospects after 10 minutes. I wouldn't be surprised if every person on the roster played on the same team with at least one of their michigan teammates before

i doubt that it’s any more true of umich than other ncaa programs. unlike the nhl or junior hockey, college teams are built solely through recruiting, without a draft to introduce any element of randomness. so you see patterns based on where those recruiting relationships are established. like, bill muckalt used to be the coach/GM in tri-city, which probably plays a role in why umich has a bunch of tri-city guys (the ones you named, and don’t forget stop sign!) umich also has particular connections with the steel and the ntdp, and like any other state school it’s going to have a little bit of an in with the elite players who grew up in that state. if you keep fishing in the same pools, you’re gonna catch the same kind of fish.

38: Favorite GTA mini-series? CRIMINAL MASTERMINDS BABY. I genuinely really hope they redo crimmies at some point (hopefully w Jeremy still!) because they were so fun and good and I love it so much. honorary mention to cunning stunts though, those are the ones I rewatch the most I think.

49: What's your favorite RT production outside of AH? you know I gotta say Red Web. or Lazer Team actually; that was the first movie I ever watched with my girlfriend before we started dating and we're still together 5 years later lol. it used to be Camp Camp but uhhhhh yeah. Red Web though!!! I recommend it to people all the time!
