My thoughts on The Infinity Saga
I remember being 12 when it first came out, it was another superhero movie. Just like the Fantastic Four and the Spider-Mans. We gave it ago. I enjoyed it. A lot.
We were never up to date with watching them as soon as it came out, we watched it on tv whenever it moved from the big screen to our tv screens. It’s weird that I don’t remember watching a lot of them and yet rewatching them I remember it.
2012 with Avengers Assemble is probably the one I would have recognised the most, the one I watched the most seeing as it came around more often than not.
2013 when Iron Man 3 was in cinema, I was hyped for it, I wanted to watch it. I couldn’t wait. This was the one movie I remember being hyped up for when I was younger.
2016, which was only three years ago, was when I realised which character I favoured as I sided with Team Iron Man. Which character I wanted to win. And I hadn’t even watched the movie yet.
I grew up more with Harry Potter than I did with the MCU. Harry Potter gave me my love for reading. Gave me my first taste of being connected with fictional characters. I cried when tragedy and misfortune befell my loved characters, yet after having watched or read it once or twice, I felt like I was over it. It didn’t bother me as much.
And yet, having grown up with Harry Potter, I feel it was the MCU that made a bigger impact on me.
Since before Avengers: Infinity War, I had this feeling in me that Tony Stark was going to die then. And when he didn’t I was so happy. I mean two of my favourite characters died in that, Loki and Peter Parker. I felt crushed. Sure it still tears me up when I watch it now, but that heavy feeling isn’t there.
For months before Avengers: Endgame that feeling returned. When the Spider-Man: Far From Home trailer was released and he wasn’t shown, how Peter looked at his suit and looked sad like he didn’t want to touch it. Like it was a reminder of something sad that had happen. I just knew it. I felt it coming. I had said this to my one of my closest friends about six months ago and once again about a week ago.
And it came. He died. It hurt so much. He had his wife, his daughter to live for. His little bit of happiness right there in front of him. He died protecting their happiness, their safe future, even if he doesn’t get to live it with them. He had just got the kid, aka Peter Parker, back. After years of feeling that guilt. Tony had ten minutes more with him before doing what was right.
Tony Stark had so much to lose if they didn’t succeed. They would be gone. They would be taken from him again. So he did what he had to regardless of the very obvious consequences of those actions. And in order to save those he loved most from that mad titan, they ended up losing him.
It still hits me hard. Perhaps I haven’t had as much time to deal with this as I have had with others. I just don’t remember anything else hitting me this hard. As heartless as this sounds, when my favourite uncle passed away it didn’t hit as hard, not even days or months after.
I’m not saying that he shouldn’t have died. I mean everyone dies in the end. Whether you are doing something heroic, whether its of old age, whether there was a reason or not. After having a few days to get over the initial emotions, it was a perfect ending for him. That his story has come full circle. From a man that had nothing, who felt like he was on borrowed time, he ended up as a man that had everything waiting for him. A man who did whatever it takes to protect that everything he had made for himself.
Steve told him two things in Avengers Assemble. Two things he proved wrong right at the end, that he proved with his death.
Steve: You know you may not be a threat but you better stop pretending to be a hero.
Tony: I’m not the hero type... Clearly. With this long list of character defects and mistakes, I’ve done. (Iron Man 1)
Tony became that hero. Throughout his journey and with his very end. He wasn’t pretending any longer if he ever did.
Steve: The only thing you fight for is yourself. You’re not the guy to make the sacrifice play, to lay down on a wire and let the other guy walk all over you
In the end, he fought for his family. His wife, his daughter, the family he made with the Avengers. He fought for the world and sacrificed himself for it.
As I said in another post, that no matter how heartbreaking his death was, not only to us but to them as well, I am glad he died on Earth; on the planet he was born on surrounded by the three people he loved. He didn’t die alone somewhere foreign and part of his eleven-year nightmare of space.
They’ve all had their growths and changed as their stories continued. Natasha is another one whose story was complete by the ending she had. By sacrificing herself, she wiped her red ledger clean. Like she always wanted to do from the start. To know that wiping it clean in the way she did, she was saving the Universe just as Tony did.
Tony Stark is my favourite character. I think he’ll always be my favourite character.
What I’m saying is that it’s been such a journey, such a rollercoster of emotions and deep connections. That I’m happy, even though it hurts, at how it ended.
So, thank you.
Thank you, Robert Downey Jr.
Thank you, Scarlett Johansson.
Thank you, Chris Hemsworth.
Thank you, Jeremy Renner.
Thank you, Mark Ruffalo.
Thank you, Chris Evans.

So…I am starting this series where I add definitions like this or other ones to some characters(yes asmoshingeki, very original). Of course I am not the best at it but I think it would be fun. I will be waiting for your requests.
Also get some inspiration here ;)
