Opinions/Thoughts on Sound of Music and Music Man specifically?

(asking because my fiance hasn't seen either and I am planning on forcing him to watch both with me. I grew up watching them yearly as a choir/theater kid)

I have not seen Music Man, but god, I love musicals, so I just might check it out now.

I have seen Sound of Music, though, and while I fully admit it's saccharine and mawkish and maudlin, I still like it.

It's just old-world charming. I know Christopher Plummer hated it, and for good reason, it was his generation's Frozen, but...I don't know. The music doth slap. Julie Andrews is a delight. I find the anti-Nazism in Austria plot to be compelling.

The only song I don't like is the Goatherd song, but mostly because the puppets scared me as a child, and the song is forever linked to my childhood trauma.

I also think that particular song is obnoxious, and I'll hear that fucking goat yodeling in my specifically tailored cell in hell.

But every other song is good!

Controversial opinion time, but...my favorite song from the whole movie is "Edelweiss."

I know most people don't like it, but...I think it's a real crooner. Let me croon Edelweiss all night.

I also like "Climb Every Mountain" which I know a lot of people hate, but. Come on, it builds!!

Maybe I just like crooning, I don't know. But all the songs are good. It's worth a watch, and I hope he enjoys it!

Oh to be Master Attendant, walking home one fine cloudless afternoon. Up the path from the gate, the sound of music distracts your journey to the front door.

Under the shade of the nearby trees, you see Spaghetti plucking and strumming away at a well-loved guitar, accompanying the voice of Surströmming as she sings clear and lilting like spring water. There's a group of Food Souls scattered about, listening in or otherwise in their own worlds.

Then the notes of a violin harmonizes with the vocals and the riffs, Blue Cheese wordlessly offering to make the music fuller. There's a chuckle, somewhere, before one of the younger Food Souls run up with the wind chime they took from the eaves, dotting the impromptu arrangement with a faint 'ting!'

Other voices join in, trying to follow the lyrics to the song. Some are decent, some fail, some are off-key but the music continues on.

There's laughter layered with the sweet euphony, they haven't yet noticed you. It all feels surreal, like something out of a storybook. An outsider looking in on a memory being written and yet you can't help smiling at the scenery.

You wish it could last forever.

Ink Demonth: Meat

I've uh...been having cravings for gyūdon lately ^^;; there's something so comforting about it. So I decided to do a Bendy themed bowl!

The Bendy Beef Bowl! Hot rice topped with slices of premium meat, layered delicately on top of a bed of sautéed onions. The sauce is sweet honey and garlicky heat, dyed with squid ink to give it an inky appearance! Scallions are sprinkled and at the pinnacle is a rice ball of the cute lil demon himself, paired with a pickled plum!

Hi! "Guilty pleasures" are a stupid concept! Stop feeling guilty for taking pleasure in things! You are here to enjoy life, not to suffer!

Also, food is good and you should eat when you are hungry! Until you are full! And when you get hungry again, you eat again! And if you are craving a specific kind of food, it might be bc it contains something your body really needs atm! So don't just ignore your cravings!

PS: @ the thinspo blog that just started following me, I am not your fucking inspiration, I am a person struggling to keep a healthy weight. My issues are not something to fucking aspire to. What you are doing is self-harm. Stop restricting your body's access to nutrients, it needs those to function. Restriction is hard bc you aren't meant to be doing it.

It was with a soft sigh that Valentino steps into Vox's office, stretching one set of arms above his head carefully while he shifts two large, plastic bags of takeout to his right hand. The left found his hip, and he shook his head with a firm frown on his lips.

"You know," He started as he clicked across the room, setting the bags down on the desk and fixing Vox with a stern look, "If you tell me this isn't the first thing you've eaten today, I'm gonna kick your ass. I got you your favorite."

The plastic was parted by his lower hands as the upper ones set down two drink trays; His three large colas with no ice occupying one with a V&V WacFlurry and the other holding a large Powerade (no ice, as he usually chose), a banana smoothie, and two of the fizzier sodas WacDonalds offered. There was, notably, no coffee, which wasn't unusual this late at night.

Valentino was going to struggle enough trying to wrestle what was already in Vox's hand away from him. He didn't need to offer him more.

"Also, you're coming home with me after we eat. Put it away."
