Time-travel/fix it AUs with Cal Kestis as the main protag will always be funny to me, especially when authors pair him up with the Disaster Lineage (usually as Obi-Wan's new padawan since Ahsoka ended up apprenticing under Anakin).

Mostly because:

1) I will always fuck with AUs where Obi-Wan gets a new padawan, regardless of whoever said padawan is.

2) The sheer comedic and potential angst/anxiety of everyone trying to navigate having an actual tiny, baby Jedi on the battlefield with them.

3) Cal just mentally trying to process the whole time-travel thing on top of being a padawan to HIGH GENERAL, JEDI MASTER, COUNCIL MEMBER OBI-WAN FUCKING KENOBI!!!!!!!

4) The opportunity for Anakin to struggle with possible feelings of jealousy over Obi-Wan having a new padawan and maybe slowly coming to accept Cal as a Jedi sibling (with helpful, or not so helpful input from Ahsoka-lol).

5) Obi-Wan having to wrangle yet another droid loving padawan with very obvious mental and trust issues and OH GOD HE'S JUST AS TINY AS ANAKIN WAS AND HOW COULD THE COUNCIL HAVE EVER APPROVED THIS-

But, most of all, what I love about this particular AU is the additional, optional layer of Cal somehow knowing (usually through psychometry) that Anakin is Darth Vader and just having to struggle to interact with his new Master's former padawan without letting anyone else know, that he knows--

--which then leads to baby Cal Kestis meeting Anakin the Skywalker for the first time and just sort of blurting out something to the equivlaent of "... don't fucking talk to me" and then screaming internally when everyone inevitably reacts to Obi-Wan's new padawan clearly hating/not taking a liking to Anakin at all.

Obviously, Ahsoka would think this is hilarious, Anakin would take it super personally and Obi-Wan would just feel exasperated/delighted/resigned at the fact that he has yet another rude padawan to take care of.

It's not a Cal joins the Disaster Lineage fic, but instead sees an older Cal Kestis return to a timeline way before the events of Phantom Menace. And what do you know, he gets to interact with baby Obi-Wan and other child versions of the Jedi he looked up to as a baby Jedi himself. It's pretty great. Definitely check it out :3

as someone with a guilty pleasure for isekai and time regression stories I am just thinking of a story where Husk dies and wakes up during the height of his Overlord days with the memories of everything that would happen and has just. From the outside perspective become a completely different person overnight and changed his ways (read: the morals he gained during his afterlife he applies to how he, uh... Overlords?). A Husk whose last soul deal is to get Angel Dust away from Valentino (and offers Angel his freedom, which Angel possibly decides not to take for the time being bc it'd be safer for him to be under contract than not, with Valentino as mad as he is), and who avoids making bets/deals with Alastor like the plague. Starts building alliances with other Overlords (maybe even including Alastor, albeit reluctantly) to steadily create a support network/team (which is also useful when going up against the Vees once they're established), and just bides his time until Charlie and Vaggie open their hotel- which, at the time of his death, he had come to love and support the cause of.

And Husk is ready to be the hotel's sponsor, immediately. Alastor gets there and finds Husk beat him to it (seeing as Husk knows about it before the interview even airs), but unlike Alastor with his ulterior motives, Husk actually wants to help.

After all, he died for the hotel, and its people, once upon a time

My Western AU Pitch:

The year is sometime around 1878, and the place is a small little mining town called Perfection out in New Mexico Territory (about where the border between modern Arizona and modern New Mexico would be, for reference.)

Our protagonist is escaped Brazilian convict Cellbit and his posse of fellow Brazilian convincts + Felps, who is kinda just happy to be here. They all get to Perfection and immediately kinda hate it because, see, the government is getting a bit too invested in its future.

The townspeople are nice- Bad, the local undertaker-slash-priest; Foolish, the town's only doctor; Roier and Jaiden, who both help run the town's saloon with Roier's 'cousin' Melissa performing. But then there are the town's twin sheriffs, Los Ositos, known for their bear-like asshattery and general unpleasantness.

Cellbit kind of fucking hates them. For sheriffs, they're more invested in making their town look good for the government than actually stopping crime, and that's saying something coming from him.

But, because this is the Wild West, there are also some goddamn bandits in the hills:

A man said to have skin made of solid gold, a punishment from God for stealin' all the gold outta the Ohio River Valley back during the Revolution

A demon sent straight from Hell Itself to terrorize the town and punish it for its wicked ways by... stealing all of the furniture...

A woman with the wings of an eagle who swoops in at night to steal cattle from the local ranch

A child with a bull's head who can't speak any language known to man, forever cursed to wander the earth in silence as punishment for his actions

A half-man, half-spider with the fastest draw in the west and a killin' streak a mile wide

And so Cellbit makes a bet. If he catches these criminals first, then he gets to be the sheriff and Los Ositos have to leave town forever. If the twins catch them first, then Cellbit has to work for them until the day he dies.

And it's a set deal until Cellbit wakes up one night to find a child with a cow's head in his room rifling through his belongings and he realizes, shit, this might be a bit harder than he thought it'd be.

Just a Hatchetfield pondering

Whilst brainstorming dreaming about an AU, I started to wonder about certain people who were gazed upon by a Lord in Black or another Eldritch entity like the Killer Track (which by inside joke I’ve taken to naming him KaTey), would actually be known as.

Any human said to be a disciple of the Lords in Black, at least from what I remember, actually studies the Black Book and practices spells from it. Those would be like, the Church of the Starry Children (notably Sherman and Sheila Young, and that of Roman Murray), Wilbur Cross, Willabella Muckwab and probably Grace Chastity in specifically NPMD.

The “unsure” category for me, would be Wiggly cult and Linda in Black Friday because it’s not that known if they have the Black Book with them. But what I would speculate as a strictly headcanon, is that by extension of Uncle Wiley/ Wilbur Cross, they would’ve learnt enough to be able to construct the portal for Wiggly to get through, and thusly qualified them as Disciples.

As for NPMD, Pete and Steph are kinda left out because they only used Black Book once and never again, thusly counting them out as “disciple”.

With that out of the way, then what does one call Miss Holloway and Solomon Lauter? Would these two count as “Ex-Disciples” since they have studied the book but have ultimately learnt that they are being steered to do unspeakable evil? Instead trying to either minimise usage (Solomon Lauter) or try to actually do good with this knowledge (Miss Holloway)?

Solomon Lauter could also be a matter of “one-use” situation, which can be possible given that he buried the book, but there leaves room for headcanons that he might’ve used the book significantly to know it’s nefarious purposes,

but for Miss Holloway, simply put, she knows too much to have not been a Disciple at some point cause again, disciple merely means “student”, so it’s highly possible that in her actual living life, she was not malicious but more of misguided until she realised it herself and did a lot to become well, Miss Holloway as we know of her.

Now disciples out of the way, now prophets.

Linda is a prophetess in Black Friday, she was selected to impart the message that Wiggly will descend upon Hatchetfield thanks to Wilbur Cross.

Hannah Foster is an actual prophetess, where because of Webby, Hannah does actually get to prophesise the future, but sadly in the cryptic words Webby uses for her.

now that leaves the following ppl: Paul Matthews, Ted Spankoffski, Bill and Alice Woodward, regarding “can one call them prophets or not”. We all know the CCRP trio sans Alice are practically “blorbos” to their respective LiBs. But like, because they do not really spread any future vision or prophesise a thing (look at Ted he just simply went mad), what do we call such ppl?

Lord in Black’s toys? Lord in Black’s pets? Lord in Black’s playthings? Lord in Black’s torture tango partners???

like canonically, what would one call these guys if not disciples or like actual prophets? XD
