Far Away Soul, White Cold Star 💫
Chapter: 10 “Eyes..Eyes are all I see..”
The snapping of twigs on the ground beneath the campsite was all that could be heard, the woods were silent apart from the whistling of wind passing by the leaves. This new place truly did seem like a paradise- far away from all worries and with many places to explore and conquer. The feeling of eyes, the feeling that something was watching you always lingered in the wind.. could it be the trees had eyes everywhere? Or could it be that something was always keeping an eye on every move you do.. till it finally pierces your flesh with its spindly needle straight into your brain..
The haze of my eyes kept the sensation of sleep so comforting.. like I don't need to wake and could just rest forever in peace with myself, only the strange feeling of pressure over myself making my exhausted mind picture things I couldn't truly see. Like if someone was right on top of me.. holding a thing over my head in the air- is that.. a person..? Eyes wide open and jumping off the tree behind him Hijìn would be in a cold sweat, looking all around him he was in a state of panic. Kÿr would roll on his side, lips making small popping sounds as he was still dreaming- early morning sun warming his now dry body with its comforting rays. Hijìn couldn't grasp what he saw- was it a dream or was someone really on top of him with what seemed to be a knife, putting a hand to his head he slicked his hair back until he realized something was wrong. Closing his hand and feeling it he checked and his chest, face, arms, and body in itself were coated in a thick layer of blood- not his blood but others' blood. Hearing Kÿr's mumbling he panicked jumping down the large tree, branch by branch he descended until he reached the ground and rolled before running off into the woods disappearing.
Eyes open he was wide awake, Kÿr stretched his limbs in all directions like a star as his tired body quaked to his awakening. Scratching his head he pets the ground by him staring blankly at the branch beneath him, aimless for a few moments until turning around and seeing a bloody stain where Hijìn was. His ears dropped to their sides growing scared someone had killed his friend, seeing a trail leading down the tree he quickly chose to follow only to lock eyes with sludge-looking creatures, filled with eyes, teeth, and tentacles all over. Void of his friend's odd protection from these things he was on his own jumping back onto their small platform trying to see anywhere else he could flee to, minor screeching from behind as even more of these strange creatures started to come around him.
At the river Hijìn was busy lathering his body with the clean water trying to get the stains of blood off him, the sounds of brushing leaves drew his attention turning to the riverbank only to witness a strange animal. The animal had a skull-like shell on its face, a fur-covered muscular body, and a distinct shaggy tail- it came to drink noticing the blood in the water and staring up to see Hijìn. Its eyes in the dark eye sockets of the skull mask widened, almost as if in pure terror it would begin to yelp out before running away into the forest. He was put off by the animal's reaction- he has never really seen anything like that before why would it be fearful of him, shrugging as he kept scrubbing the blood stains off him he heard the familiar screams of someone he knew. It was Kÿr! Something must've happened back at the camp! Hijìn thought as he tried getting out of the water as fast as he could till he was able to run back to see what was going on.
Pushing his way through the growth he sensed the eyes of dozens locking on him in all directions- turning around quickly to have sworn to have seen a skull-masked individual gaze at him between trees and shrubs he stopped. Burrowing his eyebrows trying to see it better he grew fearful of what was going on here. Hearing another yell from afar Hijìn kicked it into high gear and bolted as fast as he could to the campsite only to be met with the corpses of many small creatures all over the floor, filled with still smoking bullet holes he grabbed on and scaled the tree till he reached the top. Making it to the camp he saw the small creature massacre all around- could it be these small slime-like creatures were stalking them down, in the center was Kÿr who had his T-Shirt ripped and holding onto one of the creatures with both hands trying to rip it away from his face. The tendrils latching on all around Kÿr's face wanting to get attached, Hijìn ran forward just as Kÿr's blade shot forward and sliced the creature to small pieces. "..hhh.. Fuck!.. FUCK!!!" Kÿr yelled out spitting on one of the dead creature's dead bodies turning around to notice his lil friend had finally made it back. "You.. y- ya piece of shit man! Where the fuck were you? I saw the blood and thought" he held his face in frustration. "You can't keep doing this to me- making me think your dead you smelly mutt, where even were you? Had me here being overwhelmed by these parasites!". Kÿr exclaimed as he crushed one of the creature's bodies beneath his feet turning into a blood stain on the ground.
The Stammering of his lips and the general unease of the situation made the atmosphere worse for Hijìn who is bewildered by what to do. "I- dun know.." Hijìn said as he hung his head low approaching Kÿr one step at a time. Sighing the cat would turn away from his friend disappointed but also dead worried- he's the only person he has out here, the only foundation, the only thing that he can even have near to remind him of home. "Look maybe I- maybe I shouldn't have been that harsh on you.. let's just talk it ou" Kÿr said turning back around just to see a strange black tentacle zip behind Hijìn's ear while he was kicking off the small creatures off the tree. 'The hell.. it's that same weird thing I saw when he got hit by those Rajòz- could it be that it's.. no, I've never seen those in the desert ain't no way he has one, stay vigilant Kÿr it's only our wits keeping us alive now.. we find someplace safe and camp there for the next night' Kÿr thought as he pondered what could possibly be going on here.
"I-i saw.. thing- scar of me.. ran- dun now y" muttered the boy as he looked down at the falling creatures to the forest floor below. It seemed since they got here he has been slowly able to develop his ability to speak, but as it seems it looks like only signaling is his primary way of speech. Taking a few steps ahead passing a hand down his shirt slowly fixing it with his unknown ability Kÿr would ask. "What did it look like? Was it a big hecken monster? Or a shrew?". Hijìn sighed as he swerved and sat down on a branch behind him not responding but solely looking down at the ground trying to piece it all together. The blood, the dream, the feeling of being watched, and the void..the void..it has to do with something within himself- he didn't feel right in his own skin, as if something was trying to rip its way outside of his own brain and it's slithering feelings lingered in his chest as it crawled around inside him. A click, a snap, then a bitch slap finally got Hijìn out of the trance- holding his cheek and groaning, Kÿr put his hands to his sides and huffed out in frustration. "Big goof we need to find something to eat- I'm not starving myself for a month again ya hear" he said as he brushed down his shirt and a whole new jacket formed on his body.
A smile on his face let the atmosphere change for the better as he watched, Hijìn was always amazed by that strange magic ability Kÿr had- hell it was how he even got those chains to fight the undead prick very effectively. Moving his hand over to try and touch one of the small particles making the jacket the whole tree would violently get thrashed to the point it would slowly begin to collapse. Hijìn fell but managed to grab his friend and avoid the collapse of the tree, yet to their confusion as the red and grey leaves fell to the ground they looked off to the base of the tree to see two very large creatures. With a half-finished Jacket, Kÿr groaned in annoyance thinking 'what now...' till the animalistic roaring began, jumping away- one of the large animals was thrown into the trees behind the two making everything around it collapse. Hijìn broke out from under the foliage to lock eyes with the creature that launched the other aside- it was ape-like having muscular arms, armored skin, and lastly a split jaw that held many rows of teeth. The creature which was thrown broke forth and started running at the other past Hijìn, but when Hijìn saw the other he froze "Look like.. Aba..". He said almost out loud amidst a fight- the Aba-like creature was built like a four-armed, skeleton armored, bipedal (walks on two feet) werewolf.
With heavy breathing and a red hint in its eyes the Werewolf-like monster stopped running halfway and turned with its fluffy ears towards Hijìn, it was as if that phrase had caught its attention- the human and monster locking eye contact. They stayed staring at one another as if time had frozen for their meeting, not a single thing was uttered but it was like a lifetime of understanding was shared in that very moment until the ape in the background started yelling out in rage. Kÿr who had sticks and leaves all in his hair looked around all confused until he saw the werewolf-looking monster "Tttttt HUHHHHU?! That's what your dad looked like what the Fu!" Kÿr yelled out in shock before Hijìn tackled Kÿr to the ground avoiding a large tree being swung above them sending the werewolf flying. The ape roared out gritting its teeth as it looked at all the havoc it committed, it would take its first steps towards the two who were nearly hit by the massive tree and as it inched closer it began to breathe faster and faster almost if about to attack. However, from the path of broken foliage in its wake a ear drum-shattering animalistic roar would break through the deafened woods, not only causing the boys to fly back, but the massive ape as well.
Out from the brush came the werewolf-like monster, it ran on all six of its limbs charging straight at the Ape which was recovering from the shockwave roar prior, the ape threw a punch with its giant fist- it connected to the monster's skull face breaking a massive chunk of its snout and jaw off. Even though a part of its face was just broken off like a snapped stick it charged back in and violently started to full force blow holes into the ape's body with rapid punches. Jumping up and kicking the ape back into some trees it started to overwhelm the animal, Kÿr watched in shock taking notes of the transformation and signature red aura which surrounded the werewolf-looking thing- Hijìn couldn't see this as safe any longer and chose to pick up the cat and storm off against the cats wishes to see it play out. The sounds of heavy pounding, tearing, and whimpering lasted for what sounded like hours till it all went quiet again, now far away from the incident and a camp now buried beneath the ground the two needed a new place to stay.
Hijìn kept to himself as he walked along the foliage thinking to himself 'Another like him.. but this one didn't feel evil.. it felt alive, like.. like it was was..seeing him again', Kÿr on the other hand was taken back by how cool it was to him, the raw beating, brutality of the punches, and sheer strength both had to one another just made him wanna do the same amount of damage and on top of that the animals themselves. Running ahead Kÿr would punch the air trying to simulate what the werewolf-looking creature was doing and Hijìn watched scoffing at the actions as they walked on wet moss through a less plant-filled section of the woods. Kicking the air a few times Kÿr would stop and smile with a drop of sweat rolling down his cheek, turning around to his friend he threw a punch which was stopped by Hijìn's knee- they shared a smile amongst themselves. "Bro that animal thing with the four arms is so weirdly cool.. do you know it? Dog to Dog? Hahaaa.. but no seriously do you guys know one another you two were staring at each other for so long?" Kÿr asked having thought of asking this since they escaped the brawl.
He stopped walking only taking a few steps past his feline friend the boy paused wanting to process as he distinctly remembered how his father was. Aba was the same animal, but unlike the others, Aba was older and lacked the light brown and grey pelt.. having a more dark grey and brown fur. "Ah.. a.. No- look like Aba.." he responded mid-pat on the cat's head who could only watch the boy continuing to walk along the path. He never really spoke about his father to Kÿr- it was a secret to himself that he wanted to keep close without anyone else needing to know the details. Seeing him walk alone and the plants around him move away truly showed the extent of his loneliness, the cat's ears folding back in worry as he quickly followed behind thinking he's made a mistake.
The two had traveled an extensive amount of distance wanting to stay as far away as possible from the fighting animals. Never having seen such strange wildlife one can only wonder how truly bizarre these woods are with their housed creatures. A jingling of jewelry rang in the background of the forest- an occasional ring every few moments which grew from afar along with the noise of the forest returning as it became midday. Shallow grey leaves becoming more and more common the further they walked- anyone but those peering eyes of white fate could tell where their lives will end.. until the next shot is taken...
(For those who have read this from Wattpad, I would like to mention that the version coming to Tumblr will be altered to fit the events that occurred in the first arc as the first arc was rewritten for Tumblr viewers. So some things may seem different or tweaked a bit so keep it in mind for now- with the current events coming up those changes will be prevalent! For now I hope you’ll be enjoying the daily drops of the second arc! For we have uh…like 60+ pages to go to get you Tumblr readers caught up!!)
